How to Get Your Friends into Doctor Who (2005) - A Guide
Tumblr media
Ok I really like Doctor Who, and of course I like introducing people to it, but oh my god do you forget how randomly terrible and/or cringy and/or uncomfortably Moffat-esque some of the episodes are, *especially* when you're watching it with someone who has no idea what to expect.
SO I made a list of ten episodes that I think would be the best loose sequence of episodes for a causal introduction to the show...
But first, some requirements:
It has to be a one-off (NO TWO-PARTERS), low commitment, etc
It can't require watching previous OR following episodes to be enjoyable
It needs to actually be good
It needs to represent Doctor Who well
In a social setting where you're showing a group of people an episode, most of these would be fine. Watching consistently with one person however, loosely follow this order, and if your person decides at any point that they want to commit to actually watching the show, skip straight back to The End of The World and watch Series 1. Ok list time...
1. Rose (S1, E01)
Tumblr media
I think Rose is the perfect episode of Doctor Who to start on. It's campy, it's fun and weird and it sets up almost everything you need to know for the Revival Era. You get the companion, the Doctor, regular Doctor Who tropes and themes, etc. Plus, if they can't get past the Mickey bin scene, this show probably isn't for them anyway.
2. Dalek (S1, E06)
Tumblr media
Skipping a few episodes into Series 1, Dalek is a great way to get a feel for the format of the show, and also a great and intentional introduction to the Daleks. The Doctor and the companion turn up in a mysterious place and have to battle an alien force and really unlikeable one-off side characters, the works basically. It's a fun monster-movie of an episode.
3. Vincent and The Doctor (S5,E10)
Tumblr media
Jumping a whole five series forward, Vincent and The Doctor is a notoriously heart-wrenching historical that I think is a classic (if a little indulgent) example of Doctor-meets-famous-historical-figure. It's nice to jump to a different Doctor and a different era of the show, to get a feel for its' diversity. Although there's a few moments relevant to the greater series plot, it's contained, very pretty, very sweet, and easy to understand.
4. Midnight (S4, E10)
Tumblr media
Midnight just feels like an essential episode to be honest. A fantastic one-off sci-fi horror/thriller, with one of David Tennant's best performances, a great introduction to the 10th Doctor. It's a shame you don't get more Donna, but I think this one would be my go-to if someone asked for the best episode to watch stand-alone, just based on how genuinely great it is.
5. Heaven Sent (S9, E11)
Tumblr media
Jumping to Series 9 with another critically-acclaimed episode, but also one that I think is an amazing introduction to the 12th Doctor. Heaven Sent is a little unconventional, and I'm not 100% sure it should be here, but it does give Capaldi a whole episode to just act his ass off, and he completely delivers. It's artsy, mysterious and dramatic, very much the high concept sci-fi style of Moffat's later scripts, so I think an appropriate watch.
6. The Voyage of The Damned (2007 Special)
Tumblr media
If you're not in a festive mood, try The Lodger or Demons of the Punjab instead
The Christmas episodes are too iconic not to show, and as far as Christmassy vibes, celebrity cameos and whimsical concepts go, this one is a fun one. This is David Tennant in his prime, with Kylie Minogue, a massive budget and a romp of a script.
6. Blink (S3, E10)
Tumblr media
I mean, duh, but genuinely I think Blink is just *too good* not to include. A tense, creepy, tightly-written piece of horror TV with twists and turns and drama, it's considered the best episode of Doctor Who for a reason, and along with Midnight is an amazing stand-alone episode. It's not super conventional, but all the timey-wimey stuff is very Doctor Who.
6. The Mummy on The Orient Express (S8, E08)
Tumblr media
If you're a Tennant stan you could swap this out for The Planet of the Dead
This one is just a fun one really. The Mummy on The Orient Express is stylish and fun, with a cool concept and a little peek into a more complex Doctor-companion relationship. With a short explanation you can get the context pretty easily, and it's a good example of your typical episode anyway.
HOWEVER if you have time, there's a bunch of two-parters you should watch instead, like The Family of Blood, The Empty Child, Silence in the Library, even Extremis.
9. The Haunting of Villa Diodati (S12, E10)
Tumblr media
Finally some 13th Doctor rep! This one has some of the strongest writing in the Chibnall era, and is a fun horror mystery that serves as a fun introduction to Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Doctor. It has a little bit of series-wide arc, but that's okay.
10. The Church on Ruby Road (2023 Special 4)
Tumblr media
If your person liked all those episodes but still doesn't want to watch 13 seasons of TV, just abandon ship and watch the 2023 Christmas special in preparation for Series 14 (or Season 1) in Spring 2024. The Church on Ruby Road is the beginning of the latest soft reboot of the show and has been explicitly created as a jumping on point for new fans. Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson absolutely shine in this special, it's fun and silly and in my opinion bodes very well for the next season of Doctor Who...
"in 900 years of time and space, I've never met anyone who wasn't important" - Bannakaffalatta
I hope that was a success! After all those episodes hopefully you either had a good time with whoever you were watching it with, or you've already moved onto Series 1! I'll be trying this out the best I can with my girlfriend this year, so look out, because I may be back with adjustments later...

Foxhole Force Episode Guide
Hi everyone! Since season 1 is finished I thought I'd write an episode guide and add it to the collection of information of the story.
Feel free to share it as many times as you want so we can spread the knowledge about this series and maybe bring new readers to enjoy the AU 🙌🏻
(I think I avoided all major spoilers)
SEASON 1 - LIST OF EPISODES
S1 E1: Call of the Fox (Part 1)
Neil Josten arrives at the City of Palmetto in a last attempt to find his mother alive. After getting attacked by Ravens and saved by mysterious warriors in colorful suits, Neil finds a job at the Foxhole Court, a sports Youth Centre meant to be a safe haven for kids in risky situations.
S1 E2: Call of the Fox (Part 2)
After finding out his coworkers at the Foxhole Court were actually the Power Rangers, Neil gets roped into the team when he merges with the spirit of the Red Fox, becoming the new Red Power Ranger. Despite trying to refuse the responsibility, Neil accepts it and stays in the city long enough to join the battle against the Ravens.
S1 E3: What it takes to be a leader
Neil feels slightly ridiculous and lost when he morphs for the second time after the Ravens find a new target at the beach. When Coach tells him he is supposed to be the leader of the team, he argues that Kevin would be better suited for the job.
S1 E4: A done deal
Neil has trouble morphing into the Red Ranger and is forced to stay behind while the others go out to fight a new monster and the Ravens. Later, Andrew ropes Neil into a fake training session where he interrogates him. After getting berated by Coach, Neil and Andrew come to an understanding.
S1 E5: Unexpected allies
Neil runs into some trouble searching for his mother. Lieutenant Mureau and a new perfect Raven are sent to destroy the Rangers for their constant interference. They almost succeed but a new and unexpected ally wearing the same outfit as the Rangers prevents it from happening.
S1 E6: There’s no I in TEAM
The team hits a wall when their dysfunctional dynamic causes a target to get hurt and taken by the Ravens. The Rangers have no idea where the Ravens continue to produce these terrible monsters from but they are strong and difficult to fight, especially because now the Ravens can make them grow as tall as buildings.
S1 E7: A dead end
The Ravens decide to ruin the team’s Sunday plans when they attack a local school that is holding a science fair at the gym. The Rangers pour themselves into the battle, trying to protect the students and teachers present, and even the Black Ranger makes an appearance to help them.
S1 E8: Smoke and… mirrors?
The team is unbalanced and fractured but the Youth Centre has to remain open for the kid’s sake and they have a fundraising to host in the middle of which there is a Raven alert. Neil gets trapped and relives some of the trauma from his past. He vows to recruit the Black Ranger into the team.
S1 E9: A fool’s errand
Neil is having an off day in which he keeps butting heads with his coworkers at the Youth Centre. The distance between him and the Red Fox is wider than ever. He sets himself on a mission destined to fail as he tries to recruit the Black Ranger into the team. He and Andrew end the day on pretty unfriendly terms and Neil feels more isolated than ever from the rest of the team.
S1 E10: Neil who? (Part 1)
A Raven alert wakes the team in the middle of the night and they are introduced to Captain Engle, a new perfect Raven stronger and faster than any other they have encountered. The Red Fox is tired and hurt and not even the Black Ranger can help Neil get rid of Mureau.
S1 E11: Neil who? (Part 2)
Alone and unmorphed, Neil faces off against Riko. Riko turns his world upside down by revealing the thing he’s been after and that he believes Neil knows its whereabouts. Later, Andrew helps Neil out of a panic attack but also gives him an ultimatum.
S1 E12: A Swift exchange
As he recovers from his injuries, Neil is faced with the deadline Andrew has set. Kevin starts acting weird: violent and angry. He begins to transform into a Raven, injuring Andrew in his attempt to escape and save everyone from himself.
S1 E13: Between a rock and a hard place
Neil and Andrew, on a quest to find the truth behind the Ravens and Neil’s family, go to the library together. But the building collapses on them leaving them trapped underneath. With nothing else to do but wait, they play a long round of their truth for truth game.
S1 E14: How to kill two birds with no stone at all
The City of Palmetto is more dangerous than ever when the Ravens decide to change their modus operandi. Neil starts doubting their protectors’ role and asks about a cure for Ravens no one believes exists. Discouraged, he goes into battle hesitating until it becomes clear that it is either kill or be killed. He discovers some coincidences about Kevin’s past.
S1 E15: The Red Fox
The team runs into an energy source so powerful the monitors at the Command Centre go crazy with alarms. In a desperate attempt to stop the Ravens from getting it, Neil touches the source and the amount of energy affects him in unimaginable ways. Scared and injured, he follows his instincts towards Andrew who is the only one who knows how to handle him.
S1 E16: A quiet state of mind
Neil has to spend an entire day without his Fox. Alone and at the verge of constant panic, he is too happy to spend the day with Andrew in Columbia as a distraction. Neil becomes aware of a certain way in which he is starting to think about the blond. The Rangers respond to an alert in which Matt singlehandedly deals with the monster.
S1 E17: All for the game
An alert brings the team face to face with a monster that traps them in another dimension to play a deathly game of exy. With the way the Black Ranger plays and fights, Neil starts to suspect Andrew might be the Back Ranger. He confronts Andrew on the roof and the night takes an unexpected turn.
S1 E18: Don’t ask for the truth
Neil lives a couple of weeks in pure bliss as he and Andrew delve more into the new nature of their relationship. However, the appearance of a woman from Andrew’s past changes the course of their day into one of tense emotional reactions and a complete emotional withdrawal from Andrew.
S1 E19: Black Danger (Part 1)
After two long weeks of absence, Andrew finally comes back to the Centre. After a panic attack from Neil because he doesn’t want to fail his duties again, the team faces Muldani on the beach. The Youth Centre is attacked by Riko and all his perfect Ravens. Andrew gets hurt and Abby declares he is trapped inside his own mind.
S1 E20: Black Danger (Part 2)
Neil ventures into Andrew’s mind to try and bring the blond back from wherever he is trapped inside. Going through Andrew’s memories, Neil is faced with several sides of the blond that leave him unsteady and worried. He gets some unexpected help during his quest to find Andrew.

I'm lonely but I'm good / I'm bitter but I swear I'm fine / I'll save all my romanticism for my inner life and I'll get lost on purpose / This place made me feel worthless
S2 E6 – Glitch
Lorelai is clearly falling for Chris again before he reveals (awkwardly late in the game) that he's seeing someone and she snaps out of it; this matches the “counterfeit” nature of the relationship portrayed in Glitch
I think there's been a glitch / Five seconds later, I'm fastening myself to you with a stitch / And I'm not even sorry / Nights are so starry, blood moonlit / It must be counterfeit
S2 E7 – Shake It Off
Rory does indeed shake it off in this episode! She stands up for herself against Headmaster Charleston for unduly pressuring her to be more social, and then ends the episode doing exactly what she was criticized for doing before - reading alone at lunch and still ✨thriving✨

S2 E10 – I Can See You
Jess & Rory's emotional affair continues, with Jess crashing Rory's sleigh ride and her furtive glance at him at the end of the episode (that Dean definitely notices)
But what would you do if I went to touch you now? / What would you do if they never found us out? / What would you do if we never made a sound? / ‘Cause I can see you
S2 E11 – dorothea
Lane and Rory begin drifting apart after Rory starts going to Chilton, but at the end of the day, they always find a way back to each other
Hey Dorothea / Do you ever stop and think about me? / When we were younger / Down in the park / Honey, making a lark of the misery / You got shiny friends since you left town / A tiny screen's the only place I see you now / And I got nothing but well wishes for ya
S2 E12 – Dear Reader
This song captures Richard’s loneliness and listlessness in this episode, as well as the irony of him constantly badgering Lori with unsolicited advice about her life and job when he is unemployed & clearly miserable
If you knew where I was walking / To a house, not a home, all alone 'cause nobody's there / No one sees when you lose / When you're playing solitaire
S2 E13 – Guilty As Sin?
Rory and Jess continue developing more than friend feelings for each other
Without ever touchin’ his skin / how can I be guilty as sin?
S2 E14 – White Horse
Lorelai reacting to Christopher’s new relationship and realizing she had always been waiting on him
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down / Now it's too late for you and your white horse / To come around
S2 E15 – I Did Something Bad
Jess steals Dean's bracelet from Rory and clearly gives no fucks about Lorelai catching him returning it
S2 E16 – no body, no crime
Paris comes through in a big way to cover for Rory with Dean, like a true ride or die friend
S2 E17 – It's Nice to Have a Friend
Lorelai is there as a steadfast friend for Luke while he plans for his uncle’s funeral, helping cover for him at the diner and comforting him when his family doesn't show
S2 E18 - right where you left me
A very forlorn Dean sitting on the Gilmore porch at the end of the episode, waiting for Rory
If our love died young, I can't bear witness / And it's been so long / But if you ever think you got it wrong / I'm right where you left me
S2 E19 – Out of the Woods
Jess & Rory get in a car accident, a metaphor for their connection getting a little too real, a little too fast
Are we out of the woods? / Remember when you hit the brakes too soon? / 20 stitches in a hospital room / When you started crying, baby, I did too / But when the sun came up, I was looking at you
S2 E20 – State of Grace
Rory and Jess dealing with the fallout from the accident and the town and Rory's family turning against him, all while harboring feelings for each other
So you were never a saint / And I've loved in shades of wrong
S2 E21 – Treacherous
Rory drops everything to visit Jess in New York and misses Lorelai's graduation
I'd be smart to walk away / But you're quicksand / This slope is treacherous / And I, I, I like it
S2 E22 –
Fortnight
Lorelai and Christopher’s brief romantic night together before the bomb drops about Sherry's pregnancy
I love you, it's ruining my life
ivy
Rory kissing Jess at Sookie’s wedding when she's still with Dean
Oh, goddamn / My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand / Taking mine, but it's been promised to another
Season 3
S3 E1 –
The Prophecy
Lorelai talking to Luke, wishing she could find “the whole package” in a partner
Please / I've been on my knees / Change the prophecy / Don't want money / Just someone who wants my company
Cruel Summer
Rory’s jealousy over seeing Jess with Shane
Killing me slow, out the window / I'm always waiting for you to be waiting below / Devils roll the dice, angels roll their eyes / What doesn't kill me makes me want you more
S3 E2 – The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
Christopher trying in vain to fix things with Lorelai after he already chose Sherry
And in plain sight you hid / But you are what you did / And I'll forget you, but I'll never forgive / The smallest man who ever lived
S3 E3 – Delicate
Lane and Dave meeting for the first time and Lane being head-over-heels for him
Is it cool that I said all that? / Is it chill that you're in my head? / 'Cause I know that it's delicate
S3 E4 – Last Great American Dynasty
LGAD’s themes relate perfectly to Lane’s hair-dying rebellion in this episode, as well as the Stars Hollow High students’ fascination with Lorelai’s teen mom journey
There goes the maddest woman this town has ever seen / She had a marvelous time ruinin' everything
S3 E5 – Dancing With Our Hands Tied
This song about the frustration of having to hide a relationship relates well to this episode when Jess fixes the sprinklers for Rory, but turns them back on to allow Dean to come and be the hero – all the while, the two are pushing down their secret feelings for each other
S3 E6 – Look What You Made Me Do
Lorelai & Rory devil egging Jess’ car, classic 😂

You know there's many different ways / That you can kill the one you love / The slowest way is never loving them enough
S3 E8 – Don't You
When Rory visits Dean to apologize, this song captures how much it hurts him to know she’s moving on with someone else
Don't you smile at me and ask me how I've been / Don't you say you've missed me if you don't want me again / You don't know how much I feel I love you still
S3 E9 – Stay, Stay, Stay
Luke secretly being disappointed that Lorelai and Rory were going to skip his Thanksgiving! So pure
Stay, stay, stay / I've been loving you for quite some time, time, time / You think that it's funny when I'm mad, mad, mad / But I think that it's best if we both stay
S3 E10 – coney island
This song always reminds me of Jess’ clear lack of interest in going to the carnival with Rory until he hears Dean is coming, especially the line: sorry for not winning you an arcade ring
S3 E11 – Bad Blood
Francie causing the rift between Rory and Paris
Did you think we'd be fine? / Still got scars on my back from your knife / So don't think it's in the past / These kinds of wounds they last and they last
S3 E12 – Invisible
Luke teaching Lorelai to fish so she can go on a date with Alex
And all I think about is how to make you think of me / And everything that we could be

Wherever you stray, I follow / I'm begging for you to take my hand / Wreck my plans / That's my man
S3 E16 – The Man
Paris having her public meltdown about not getting into her dream school and thinking it's because she slept with Jamie; this episode speaks to the double standard between men/women when it comes to sex and promiscuity
S3 E17 – Wildest Dreams
Lorelai telling Like about the dream she had about them being married and pregnant with twins
Say you'll see me again / Even if it's just in your wildest dreams
S3 E18 – Starlight
Rory surprising Lorelai with a big birthday bash
The whole place / Was dressed to the nines / And we were dancing, dancing / Like we're made of starlight
S3 E19 – My Boys Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
Jess being a dick to Rory at the party and getting in a fight with Dean
My boy only breaks his favorite toys / I'm queen of sand castles he destroys / Cause it fit too right / Puzzle pieces in the dead of night / Should've known it was a matter of time / Oh, my boy only breaks his favorite toys
S3 E20 – All You Had to Do Was Stay
Jess planning to leave town but never telling Rory, abruptly ending their relationship
I've been picking up the pieces of the mess you made / People like you always want back the love they pushed aside / But people like me are gone forever when you say goodbye
S3 E21 – I Can Do It With a Broken Heart
Rory doing her best to move on after Jess’ sudden departure
'Cause I'm a real tough kid, I can handle my shit / They said, "Babe, you gotta fake it 'til you make it" and I did
S3 E22 – Red
Rory calls Jess to finally end things for good
Losing him was blue, like I'd never known / Missing him was dark gray, all alone / Forgetting him was like trying to know / Somebody you never met / But loving him was red
Season 4
S4 E1 – Should've Said No
Luke, my pal… although you’re not a cheater as the song describes, you still should've said no and gone home
S4 E2 – The Best Day
Rory immediately misses Lorelai after moving into her dorm and calls her back to Yale for a sleepover
I love you for giving me your eyes / Staying back and watching me shine and / I didn't know if you knew / So I'm taking this chance to say / That I had the best day with you today
S4 E3 – Tied Together with a Smile
As it turns out it, Sookie has been harboring secret fears about her impending motherhood, and Lorelai is there to reassure and comfort her
S4 E4 – I Almost Do
Drunk Dean still pining for Rory at his bachelor party
S4 E5 – Untouchable
How I imagine Luke felt as he died a thousand silent deaths during his first ~totally platonic~ movie night with Lorelai
Untouchable like a distant diamond sky / I'm reaching out and I just can't tell you why / I'm caught up in you
S4 E6 – Jump Then Fall
Kirk and Lulu’s first date is adorable and magical, just like this song
I realize your laugh is the best sound I have ever heard / I like the way I can't keep my focus / I watch you talk, you didn't notice / I hear the words but all I can think is, we should be together

Lane’s regret at her life being turned upside down by such an early pregnancy instead of being able to follow her musical dreams

We are too busy dancing / To get knocked off our feet / Baby, we're the new romantics / The best people in life are free

S7 E14 – Better Man
Lorelai and Chris ending their marriage; this song is especially relevant to Lorelai’s “You're the man I want to want” line

S7 E16 – Robin
An ode to Lane’s unborn sons ❤️
Way to go, tiger / Higher and higher / Wilder and lighter / For you / Long may you roar / At your dinosaurs
S7 E17 – Peter
This song represents Logan's Peter Pan regression in this episode, when Rory fights with him about his immature reaction to his business deal going wrong
I hoped you'd return / With your feet on the ground / Tell me all that you'd learned / 'Cause love's never lost when perspective is earned
S7 E18 – Clean
Lorelai has finally washed her hands of Christopher and is ready to move on, and she and Luke reconnect to talk about where things went wrong
Rain came pouring down / When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe / And by morning / Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean
S7 E19 – I'm Only Me When I'm With You
Luke and Lorelai fight about buying a new Jeep, and it's a welcome return to normalcy for them
Well, you drive me crazy half the time / The other half I'm only trying / To let you know that what I feel is true / And I'm only me when I'm with you
S7 E20 – loml
Lorelai bares her soul for Luke at karaoke, clearly still feeling the loss of him

Rory turning down Logan's marriage proposal
Your mom's ring in your pocket / My picture in your wallet / Your heart was glass, I dropped it / Champagne problems
S7 E22 – This Love
Luke and Lorelai finally reuniting after all they've been through; this is the THE Luke & Lorelai song in my book
This love is good / This love is bad / This love is alive back from the dead / These hands had to let it go free / This love came back to me
A Year in the Life
Winter – marjorie
The Gilmores grieving the loss of Richard
And if I didn't know better / I'd think you were listening to me now / If I didn't know better / I'd think you were still around / What died didn't stay dead / What died didn't stay dead / You're alive, you're alive in my head
Spring – Nothing New
Rory floundering, trying to find a career and purpose; this is absolutely the most Rory-coded song of Taylor’s
Lord, what will become of me / Once I've lost my novelty?
And I wake up in the middle of the night / It's like I can feel time moving / How can a person know everythin' at 18 / But nothin' at 22? / And will you still want me / When I'm nothing new?
Summer – illicit affairs
Rory finally breaks things off with Logan after months of cheating
Take the road less traveled by / Tell yourself you can always stop / What started in beautiful rooms / Ends with meetings in parking lots / And that's the thing about illicit affairs / And clandestine meetings and stolen stares / They show their truth one single time / But they lie, and they lie, and they lie / A million little times
Fall –
Sweet Nothing
Luke and Lorelai finally getting married, never happier
You're in the kitchen humming / All that you ever wanted from me was sweet nothing
All Too Well
Jess still pining for Rory as one of the last shots of the series
'Cause there we are again on that little town street / You almost ran the red 'cause you were lookin' over at me / Wind in my hair, I was there / I remember it all too well
Thanks for reading if you made it this far!

House Episode Master List
Here is my recommended house episodes my credentials are that I have watched house 3 times and the episodes that I remember are worth it and the ones I don't after 3 times must be bad. If you are really bored you can watch them all; you can play spot the celebrity. I was going to describe them all but that's pretty spoiler-y so I will not......
Season 1
S1.E1 - Pilot Classic. You can see how baby Wilson is in the beginning.
I actually don't remember season 1 too much. You can just watch the whole season to get a sense of the house cast. I don't care much for the Volger subplot; he's just House's villian.
If you want to speed run it: S1.E5 / S1.E8 / S1.E10
S1.E21 - Three Stories Fun episode
Season 2
S2.E1 - Acceptance Gotta watch the first episode of every season I guess

S4.E2 - The Right Stuff
S4.E3 - 97 Seconds House does a little game show type of game to hire a new team; if you like it keep watching if you find it boring go ahead and skip. Olivia Wilde is in them and she's hot so I find them fun.
S4.E4 - Guardian Angels
S4.E5 - Mirror Mirror Hilson; don't blink or you'll miss it.

Alone Time
Alone Time
Pairings: Malcolm Bright/Reader
Request: Anon said: “Ohhh! If you are still doing Malcolm Bright one shots could you do one where the reader was in the house with Jessica and Ainsley from the last episode ?? You are the best!”
Reader Gender: Gender Neutral
CW: Descriptions of panic/fear, stabbing someone with scissors, everything the episode contains – violence, serial killer trying to kill you, injuries, etc.
Word Count: 3,189
Summary: You are distraught with Malcolm’s disappearance, so you go to Jessica’s house for some comfort. Turns out that was a bad idea.
A/N: Apologies for having to wait so long. I’m so happy to finally get this request finished. Thank you for being so patient.
S1, E10-12 (mostly E11)
Masterlist
Tumblr media
You were nervous about your first Christmas dinner with the Whitly’s. Jessica already liked you, but you were still nervous.  Malcolm’s family meant so much to him and you wanted nothing more for the dinner to go well.
You’d arrived at the Whitly’s house punctually. There were dozens of paparazzi gathered around the front door, and you had to fight your way through them. Malcolm wasn’t with you – he had a case – but he said he would meet you there. He made a promise that he would actually be there. A promise that he wouldn’t cancel like he had for your past several dates. Ainsley had already come and gone, so the family dinner was canceled. Still, Jessica offered to let you stay until Malcolm arrived.
But as the hours passed, and he didn’t show, you couldn’t help but grow more worried. Malcolm was known to get in trouble and when he didn’t show up without a word, that normally meant he was in some sort of trouble with his case. You drank the last of your drink and excused yourself from the living room.
You called Malcolm.
“Hey, Mal. Uh, I know you’re probably just wrapped up in a case or something, but you know I worry. So, please just call me and let me know what’s going on?” You paused, sighed, and ran a hand through your hair. “I’m heading home. Please don’t work too late. Love you.”
You hung up and sighed. So much for a nice Christmas dinner.

The next day, Gil was at your door. Still no Malcolm. The anxiety in your chest spiked. Whatever it was wasn’t good.
He sat you down on the couch and gently gripped your hand. “Malcolm’s been taken by the Junkyard Killer.” He said carefully. You gasped. Time froze and you forgot how to breathe, just for a split second. Fear crashed over you like a heart-stopping wave, shaking your whole body as it rose in your chest.
“No…” You whispered with disbelief. It couldn’t be true. Nothing this bad had ever happened before. It was always stupid things, reckless things – sure, they landed him in the hospital, but they were never…this. It almost felt like your world was crashing around you. Knowing that someone you love is in the hands of a serial killer with a vendetta against you. There were no words to describe the panic, fear, and worry that sat in your chest. “How long?” You finally managed.
“Almost 12 hours,” Gil replied. You took a short breath and nodded. Alright. It hadn’t been long. He was probably still alive. It was Malcolm. He knew what he was doing. Right?
Gil – clearly being able to see how much shock you were in – gently rubbed your arm. “Let me take you to Jessica’s, okay?”
You let out a short breath and nodded. “Okay.” You breathed.
Tumblr media
Gil led you through the pack of reporters. Cameras flashed in every direction as they yelled questions at you. Once inside, you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. One of Jessica’s assistants met you in the foyer and led you into the dining room.
“Mrs. Whitly will be with you in a moment.” She said before leaving. You gave her a grateful smile as she passed you. Gil stepped further into the room.
Jessica was on the phone. There were several people around the table working. As grateful as you are about her finally believing Malcolm about the girl in the box, her methods were always a bit over-the-top, so to speak. She looked over at you and raised her finger telling you to give her a minute.
“That is disgusting.” She glowered and hung up. She huffed. “Men like that make me wonder if giving my phone number to half the world was a bad idea.” She said as she walked over to the two of you. “Though I suppose it is slightly flattering.”
“You should send everybody home,” Gil said. You fiddled with your fingers. You’d been stressed beyond belief since Gil told you – obviously – and you were about five steps off a breakdown.
“Gil, I know you’re angry, but if I want to keep Martin away from this family for good, I need enough evidence for a new murder charge.”
“Send them home.” He insisted.
“Sir, yes, sir.” She nodded before turning around. “Thank you, everyone. We will reconvene tomorrow morning.” Everyone packed up their things. “And we will be dressed business casual, Leonard. Vests are for valets.”
Once they’d all gone, Gil guided you and Jessica over to the chairs. “Let’s sit down.” Jessica stayed standing, but you took the chance to sit and steady yourself. “It’s about Malcolm.”
Jessica’s face immediately fell as those words left Gil’s lips. “What’s happened?”
“He’s been taken,” Gil replied quickly. “By the Junkyard Killer, John Watkins.”
Jessica backed up in shock and gasped. “No. No… No… N…” She stepped back and turned around, but quickly came back as the thought hit her. “Is it because I went on TV? I provoked him.”
“That’s not what happened, Jess.” Gil quickly reassured her. “Malcolm found Watkins on his own. But we will get him back.”
“What am I supposed to do? I’m not going to sit here.”
“I know. I know.” He picked up the evidence folder. “There is something you can do to help us. Martin knew Watkins years ago. Malcolm may have, too. We pulled these photos from Watkins’ home.” He flipped the file open on the table. The page was covered in pictures with scratched-out faces. “Maybe there’s someone or something you’ll recognize. Uh, anything could help. And Jessica,” Her head shot up, “if any of this gets leaked to the press…”
“I understand.” She paused and looked back down. “But… all of this? Gil, this is a world I know nothing about. The man you need to speak with is locked in solitary.”
“Yeah, I got a friend in the FBI who’s working on that. I’m going to visit The Surgeon.”
“Well, you can kill that son-of-a-bitch for all I care. Just find my son.” Gil nodded at her request. There was a moment between the two of them – so slight you barely caught it – before it was interrupted by Gil’s phone rang and he rushed out with an apology.
“If you don’t mind,” You spoke for the first time since arriving, “I’d like to stay.” Jessica looked over at you. “I won’t be much help, but I can’t be alone at the apartment right now.”
“Of course,” she replied softly, “Stay. I’ll text Ainsley. She should know, too.”
Tumblr media
Ainsley’s voice echoed through the house. “Hello?” You looked up from your spot at the table. A file was laid out in front of you. You felt almost numb. Your chest was tight with fear and worry.
“Mom?” Ainsley called as she walked in.
“Hey, Ainsley.” You said softly, looking back at her.
“Y/N? What’s going on.” She asked.
“In a minute… Just, come here.” You motioned her over to the open file.
She leaned over next to you. The photos of the Junkyard Killer’s photo album, with the faces scratched out of every picture, were almost seared into your brain at this point. If only there was a lead… Jessica walked in, breaking you from the spiral you were about to go down.
“What’s going on? What’s all this?” Ainsley asked.
Jessica sighed and took a moment of pause. “Your brother is missing.”
“Missing?” She repeated, looking taken aback.
“Taken by the Junkyard Killer.” You said, getting out of your chair, dragging a hand over your face, and beginning to pace.
“I…” Ainsley stuttered, “I don’t understand. He’s been kidnapped? How is that possible?”
“It is possible” Jessica responded in an exasperated, almost angry tone, “because you and your brother have made it your livelihoods to obsess over your father’s past.” She walked closer to Ainsley.
“Stop. Jessica paused. “Is that really why you asked me here?”
“No.” Jessica whispered, her face twisted in anguish. “But we can’t just sit here, wondering if he’s ever going to come back.” She rushed, “God, hug me, for God’s sake.”
Ainsley pulled her into her arms. “Um… It’s okay…” She tried to comfort, “I mean, it’s not okay, but it will be.” She pulled back from the hug and looked at her mother. “Malcolm has been trained by the FBI. He confronts monsters like this every day.”
“Oh, don’t tell me that.” She paused. “But thank you.”
“So…” Ainsley walked over to where you were pacing, where the files sat, “what are these?”
“Pictures from the killer’s house.” You answered, walking back over to those damned pictures.
“Gil wanted me to look through those,” Jessica said as she walked over too, “see if I saw anything… relevant.”
“So they’re desperate. Maybe I can help.” Ainsley started to look through them.
“No. I promised Gil no press.”
Annoyance flickered on Ainsley’s face. “That’s not what I meant. I meant I can help by sitting here and going through creepy photos with you.”
Jessica sighed in relief. “We will need bourbon.”
You nodded and moved to sit down as she went across the room to get drinks. It couldn’t hurt. Ainsley sat down next to you and began flipping through the pages of photos. Then, suddenly, she stopped. She raised the picture up slowly, her breath unsteady and her lip quivering. The picture was of a shelf at Watkins’ house. It was covered in angels and other Christian figurines. A yellow “3” evidence marker sat next to them.
“Oh my god.” She whispered, before rushing off.
“Ainsley?”
You and Jessica followed her downstairs. She started rummaging through a box.
“It’s here somewhere. I know it.” She mumbled as she searched.
“What is it?”
“Mom, I need to tell you something.” She said.
“Now you’re scaring me.”
“Good.” She responded. “Do you remember Mr. Boots?”
“Your imaginary friend?” Jessica asked. Ainsley pulled out a turquoise trinket, then moved it aside.
“Yes. What do you remember?”
“You invented him right before they took Martin away. The child psychologists – and believe me, we had a fleet of them – said that it was perfectly normal for a girl your age,” Ainsley grabbed a green clothe and unwrapped the angel inside, “to have an imaginary friend, especially in a time of trauma.”
“How can he be imaginary if he gave me this?” She held up the angel. You gasped. It looked exactly like the picture. But how could…
“You’re confused. That figurine was from your father. It’s one of the last things he gave…” Jessica tried to reason.
“An angel? No.” Ainsley rushed for her mother to understand. “Dad got me books on Marie Curie. This? This was from Mr. Boots.” You felt dread rise into your throat. The sense of danger all too real all too quickly. Ainsley held up the photo for Jessica to see. “This photo is from John Watkins’ house. The angels… they’re… they’re just like mine. John Watkins was Mr. Boots.”
“And you didn’t tell me there was a strange man in our house?”
“No! No, because I-I-I thought… I thought he was a ghost. Because when I followed him down here to Dad’s hobby room, and- and I turned the corner, he had…”
“He disappeared.” You said at the same time. Jessica’s face dropped. “We need to go. Now.”
A noise sounded from Martin’s office. A creaking, like an old door. Your stomach dropped. Oh no. “What was that?”
Jessica peered through the doorway of Martin’s office and gasped as a door opened. “Run.”
Tumblr media
You ran behind Jessica and Ainsley up the stairs and back to the dining room. Jessica pulled Ainsley through the room.
“Oh, my god, the Junkyard Killer’s here.” Ainsley gasped as you ran.
“You want an interview?” Jessica bit back.
The power cut out. The room grew dark in an instant. You all skid to a stop. Terror echoed in your chest. Intense fear suffocated you for a split second. Jessica ran over to the light switch and flicked it up and down. Nothing.
“Let’s go.” Ainsley grabbed her mother’s hand and you grabbed hers. You ran to the closed pocket doors. Ainsley grabbed one side, you the other, and started to pull them apart.
Then, footsteps. An ax came at Ainsley and all three of you screamed and ducked. Glass shattered. Watkins went flying through the open doors. Ainsley groaned in pain.
Your heartbeat was pounding in your ears as you stood just in time to see Jessica throw a lamp at him.
“Baby, no. I’m so sorry. Come on, we gotta go.” She whispered as she pulled Ainsley up. You pushed them ahead of you, keeping an eye on Watkins. “We got to go! We gotta go!” Jessica panicked. “Come on. Come on.” You ran after them. Watkins was just behind you.
Tumblr media
Ainsley pushed open the primary bedroom door and you rushed inside. You shut the door behind you and locked it.
“Am I bleeding?” Ainsley asked from her position on the bed.
“Baby!” Jessica grabbed her. “Get up. Get up!” The doorknob rattled and you backed up, eyes wide as you ran behind Jessica and Ainsley. “You got to go. Get in there. Go!”
You shut the bathroom door behind you and locked the top as Jessica locked the bottom.
“Alright. Now everything’s gonna be just… fine.” She grabbed a towel and started dabbing Ainsley’s head wound. “Oh, honey. Oh. One thing you learn having kids… Aah. Head wounds bleed like crazy, but they heal so fast.”
You tuned them out, focusing only on the sound of Watkins breaking down the bedroom door. You started to rifle through the drawers of Jessica’s vanity, trying to find something, anything that was sharp and pointy. Your hands hit metal and you pulled out a pair of pink scissors. Perfect.
The bathroom door banged. “Help me move this.” You told Jessica, pulling the dressing table toward the door.
“Okay, put this… Hold this. Hold this on your head, baby.” She gave Ainsley the towel and rushed over to you. Together, you moved it in front of the door.
“Don’t worry, baby, I’ve never counted on a man to save us. And I don’t need to now!” She said as you pushed it in front of the door in the nick of time. You backed to the side just as an ax came through the door panel. You took a deep breath. You could do this.
Watkins kept chopping at the door. Wood pieces flew into the room. Jessica stood in front of Ainsley, armed with a lamp. Another deep breath. Watkins’ face peeked through the gap.
“The police are on their way, you psycho!” Jessica yelled. “Get out of my house if you want to stay alive!”
His head was pressed into the gap now. And you struck. With all the force you could manage, you stabbed the scissors into Watkins’ face and quickly pulled back. He cursed and backed up. The scissors were dripping red…
“Watkins!” Malcolm’s voice suddenly echoed through the house.
“MALCOLM!” Jessica screamed. You took a deep breath, the scissors felt heavy in your hands as you adjusted them. Just in case.
“I know you’re here. This is my house. My family.” Malcolm continued.
“Do you hear that?” Jessica taunted, “That is my son and he’s coming for you.” And as he walked away, away from you but toward Malcolm, relief and dread mixed in your chest like some weird cocktail.
Tumblr media
The second he was gone Jessica ran back to Ainsley. She was barely conscious, but awake, nonetheless. Jessica stood up and motioned her head toward the door. You nodded and took a deep breath. Your hands shook as she opened the door.
You slid into the bedroom, Jessica just behind you armed with the lamp. A shadow came into view in the hallway. Your breath hitched. Chains rattled as the figure walked into the doorway.
“Malcolm!” Jessica gasped and walked toward him first. Your grip loosened and the scissors fell to the floor.
“You’re safe.” He whispered in relief. The terror in your chest loosened slightly. He’s okay.
She pulled him into a hug. He immediately flinched away.
“Aah! Ow. Watch the hand.” He said softly.
“What happened? Are you okay?” Jessica panicked, holding his forearms.
“I’m alive.”
He’s alive. You rushed over to him and pulled him into a delicate but desperate hug. The blood soaking through his shirt and his hiss of pain ripped you out of the moment. You pulled back and pressed your hand against his chest. “You’re hurt.” Your voice cracked.
“I’m okay.” He whispered back, wrapping his uninjured arm around you.
“Oh… Where’s Watkins? Is he…? Did you…?” Jessica suddenly asked, fear still painted on her face.
“No. But he’ll never be able to hurt us again.” Malcolm said.
Ainsley rushed in a second later. And you all hugged Malcolm. Relief rushed over like a waterfall. It was okay. He was okay. You were okay. Everyone was okay. And more importantly, you were all alive.
Tumblr media
The days following were spent in the hospital by Malcolm’s bedside. His injuries were more severe than his normal – and that was saying something considering how often Malcolm faced near-death experiences. He was stabbed, for hell’s sake! He was almost killed… You were almost killed.
The whole thing was still so surreal. Unlike Malcolm, it wasn’t every day that you met face-to-face with a serial killer. Malcolm was normally a magnet for danger – he always put himself in unreasonable danger and was a consultant to the NYPD. Normally, you weren’t the one in danger. And neither were Jessica and Ainsley. It was probably the scariest thing you’d ever experienced. Your hands still shook days later.
But it was okay now, you reminded yourself. Malcolm was coming home from the hospital. Malcolm – and Jessica for the sake of her own sanity – had officially asked you to move in with him, regardless of the fact that you practically lived with him at that point anyway. You were currently pacing back in forth in the hall. Jessica was dropping him off soon and you couldn’t wait.
The door opened and you jerked your head to look at it. The second you saw them, you rushed over and pulled Malcolm into you, being mindful of his side. “Mal.” You breathed out. A wave of relief washed over you.
He let out a happy sigh and wrapped his arms around you to the best of his ability. His body sagged against you. “Y/N.”
“Well,” Jessica said, interrupting your moment, “it seems like you’ve got things handled from here, darling, so I’ll be off.”
You pulled back from Malcolm to look at her. “Thank you, Jessica.” She waved you off with a smile and walked out the door. You smiled and tapped his back. “Alright, let’s get you settled.”
And as you got him in bed, you felt that tightness in your chest – that’s been there since he went missing – loosen just slightly. He was okay. You reminded yourself. It would all be okay.

Thinkpiece on Kevin Keller. The Unacknowledged Alpha
(Context, Ep 2.11)
Kevin Keller is on the wrestling team and he’s GREAT at it! (I forgot!)  Kevin Keller is an alpha?!  This comes as a surprise. He is a well-off kid with a good-enough parent (which puts him WAY ahead of the pack in Riverdale), he’s great at school, he’s given authority to direct the school plays/variety shows, he’s a wonderful singer and performer, and he’s an athlete. A totally well-rounded, perfect, college applicant.  Oh and he’s out & proud in a small town at a very young age at a school that has a misogynist and bully infested football team.  Kevin is  so very alpha.
Why isn’t HE the one that gets the Yale acceptance storyline?  Kevin is the one to beat at Riverdale HS!
Kevin’s struggles with a feeling of loneliness that stays with him into adulthood,  and the narrative in S1&2 leads most viewers to think that this is because he’s gay.  However, it’s also clear that his personal physical power and his family background save him from being a target of bullies. And even though Kevin feels all alone, he actually isn’t: he dates Joaquin & Fangs (two of the handsomest Serpents in a very comely junior division), he dates Moose, he has hookups, so he gets much more action than literally everyone else.  (It’s probably also because he’s the Best Kisser In Riverdale tm).
Kevin feels lonely all the time because he’s friends with Betty and then Veronica, who jointly lock him into the ‘gay bestie’ role which is very emasculating.  His best ally might have been Cheryl if all things were equal but Cheryl hates men too much (unless they’re gingers and that’s a Blossom issue).  He’s friends with these straight girls with unexamined homophobia who treat his Alpha self like a cuddly pet, and his boyfriends are either Montagues to his Capulet or unable to come out of the closet.  Kevin deserved better.
I really dislike Betty so much this season, and I am very uncomfortable with this feeling.  I blame her for my inaccurate, warped view of Kevin, and she treats Kevin like trash. In S2 E11 Kevin provides Betty with really important information on who Chic really is, but when Jughead interrupts their conversation (in which Kevin is joyfully reliving the moment when he laid out the star football player who thought he could just conquer wrestling!) by asking ‘Am I interrupting?’ Kevin says yes, but Betty says NO and then gives Kevin a very rude GTFO look because you know, he’s not a priority.  Oh and the first thing Jughead does as soon as Kevin leaves is sneer at his ‘gossip column’ and Betty sneers right along with him, and calls Kevin’s contribution space-filler.  That Betty, such a good friend.
I had wondered why Jughead has an issue with Kevin and actively acts like he dislikes him at the Birthday Party meltdown, and then sneers at Kevin in Ep 2. 11 about his cruising (and throwing it in his face that Betty told him all this when they were together) and now I see.  Jughead is jealous of Kevin, on top of the general distrust of law enforcement and of Sheriff Keller in particular that Southside Serpents justifiably have.  Southside Serpents also have really strange rules about the sins and powers of the father being directly inherited by the sons, so it might well be that to Jughead, Kevin = Sheriff Keller.
But it’s jealousy, and resentment, and he can probably tell Kevin walks around feeling sorry for himself quite a bit. Jughead has no room for empathy.  And why should he? Kevin pulls a stunt (with the redoubtable Mr. Honey, even!) and yet doesn’t have anything on his school record marking him as a bad kid, but Jughead wears the wrong jacket one day and get slammed with suspension immediately.
Going back to KK’s physical aggression and athletic prowess. On top of being a big, fit person, Kevin is involved in a combat-type sport where you can get your fibula snapped in half if it goes wrong.  This forgotten bit of his history explains a whole lot to me - why he’s included in the Ghoulie house raid in S5, why he feels safe going on night runs in Murdertown, why he runs towards trouble when given the chance.

Oh yeah, no. Supa Strikas Assistant Coach [Name] has not known peace since he's met North Shaw. He was such an innocent and happy-go-lucky bean when he signed up to be assistant coach. And then he met North Shaw and developed the Strikas Sense and he has not known peace since. North Shaw loves his extreme sports and [Name] wakes up in a cold sweat every night. He learns quickly how to differentiate between "Strikas are in trouble" and "North is trying out a new sport" because otherwise he'd never sleep again. Doesn't stop North from giving [Name] heart attacks regardless.
I imagine if this [Name] existed in the show there would be an episode where they're all trying to get [Name] to relax cause his blood pressure has gone through the roof. So they're practically forced to stay put because otherwise they'll probably get in trouble and [Name]'s Strikas senses kick in. Of course it goes wrong, and they get into massive trouble. But [Name] is there to save the day!!
Or if you want a more dramatic episode idea, assistant coach [Name] quitting because he's been having major panic attacks thanks to his strikas senses. So now the boys have to come up with a plan to keep him on the team!
Also ye, lol, it was definitely Klaus who stubbed his toe.
poor [name], truly can never know peace at all. dammit north shaw! you made the poor man developed anxiety with your extreme sports obsession!!! poor man 😔😔 but yeah, [name] definitely did figured out on his strikas sense if the team is truly in danger or its just north shaw being himself. still, it definitely doesnt make him stop worrying tho and get close heart attacks ajsvjsbfjagsjdkajhdaksjdkakbfnf
now i just imagine [name] felt that strikas sense and immediately dials north shaw and ask if he is doing something dangerous at the moment. north shaw answering with the most obvious lie ever ("uhhh, pfft— what? no...?") and [name] just sighing and pinching the bridge of his nose as he mutters that north shaw should be fucking careful with his stunts
but anyways, god, this is good daeling and why not both? [name]'s blood pressure got so high that he was actually sent to the hospital (like coach is s1 e11 "wolf in coach's clothing") and since its his "strikas sense" that made his blood pressure soar since the team has been in danger so many times for the pass few months. the team did try to have a relaxing day in the beach or something where they wont trigger [name]'s strikas sense and spike up his blood pressure
unfortunately, things dont go to planned and [name] just fucking gets out of the hospital despite him supposed to stay for a few more days to be monitored to search for his dumb bois and save the day. this lead to [name] being forced to resign though by the doctors who was looking after him for his safety and the episode ends with that
next episode just starts with the team not liking how their assistant coach left and the team trying to think of ways to make [name] come back. from begging on the phone (the whole team) to in person (el matador and klaus were begging on their knees in front of [name]'s door step lmao) to just trying to talk [name] back in
just some angst where after month of trying to get their assistant coach back, they slowly lose hope until another life threatening thing happened to them and [name] got the strikas sense which was more intense than ever and he knew his bois need him. cue him dressing up and taking this tracking device he had hidden into one of north shaw's jerseys (the guy was the most obvious to get into dangerous shit man) and just tracks them down and save them
and it all ends with the team saved and [name] coming back because he cant leave these dumb bois alone since no one is going to save their asses if he did ajdbsjfbfajslfksifhwkrjjwf
and yeah, of course klaus would be the one to stub his toe. dumb cutie ajdbsjfbfajslfksifhwkrjjwf

Hi! I’m new to the Hannibal fandom and I was wondering if I’m the only one who didn’t understand Alana and Will’s relationship-thing? Like I kind of could see how Alana’s feelings developed but I don’t get Will’s. Sorry if you answered this before I’m just really curious.
Hello! Welcome to the fandom)) This is how I understand the relationship between Will and Alana.
I can see genuine physical attraction, some friendly care, and a crush that's mostly motivated by the fact that Alana is a very acceptable partner - Will craves normality, he wants to be an average family man with a wife and kids as expected by the society. Anything to drown out who he really is.
By the start of S1, he and Alana have never had one-on-one interactions, someone was always in the room with them. Will refers to her pretty impersonally as "Bloom" to Jack in E1. He starts flirting with her when they see each other, but he almost never seeks her out first. He remembers about her only when paths actually cross. There are about 2 exceptions, from what I recall.
1) He calls her first in E8, when he's feeling unstable and worried about it, and asks her to come help him find a possibly wounded animal. At the same time, he doesn't see it as romantic. Everything below is from the script, including text in the brackets.
Alana: You invited me over to help you collect animal parts?
Will: I invited you over on the off chance we find it alive. Hard to wrangle a wounded animal by myself. (then, realizing) Did you think it was a date?
Alana: Honestly, it never crossed my mind.
Will is at first relieved, then almost disappointed.
This is a good demonstration of his feelings. He isn't actually interested in a romantic relationship with her, but he wants to be interested in it.
2) The second time Will seeks her out first is to ask about her safety when Gideon escapes. In the majority of other instances, Alana is the one to come after him.
In E8 again, Alana comes to visit Will at the moment when he's particularly freaked out by his instability. He kisses her with genuine passion - and with desperation, too. That's what he and Hannibal discuss.
In their conversation, Will says he always wanted to kiss Alana because she's "kissable". He doesn't describe her qualities that make him like her, he doesn't say anything about deeper emotions - he merely refers to her in terms of his physical attraction to her. Hannibal rightfully notes:
Hannibal: You waited a long time, which suggests you were kissing her for a reason in addition to wanting to.
Will admits it's true. It's another point proving that his interest is superficial. He never bothered to actually pursue Alana until he got scared because of losing control. They confirm it again in the following lines. Will tells Hannibal how he freaked out because he thought there was an animal in his chimney and adds:
Will: I sleep walk. I get headaches. I’m hearing things. I feel unstable.
Hannibal: That’s why you kissed her. A clutch for balance.
Will nods here. Also, they deleted this bit, but he actually also had to say:
Will: Because I’m losing mine.
So it's a confirmation that Will focused on Alana because he was scared of being even more abnormal than he usually is. He does care about her and he likes her, but their relationship has always been shallow. They don't know each other much. Also, I don't think Will could ever love her for real because of who he is. The thing Will craves most is acceptance and understanding. Alana can't give him that. They have an interesting conversation related to it a bit in E11.
Alana: Would have been fun cozying up with your dogs in front of the space heater.
Will: Don’t need protective custody to cozy up with my dogs. Or me for that matter. Just a little more stability on my part.
So Will acknowledges that for Alana to like him, he has to change. But his instability is largely who he is (not counting encephalitis) - even when he was physically healthy, he was still unstable because of his darkness. That's why Alana didn't feel comfortable staying alone with him until S1. She can't give him unconditional love, and that's what Will needs. Another telling conversation is with Hannibal.
Hannibal: She would feel an obligation to her field of study to observe you. And you would resent her for it.
Will: I know.
It all comes down to them being fundamentally incompatible.
In S2, Will is not profoundly hurt when he realizes Alana has no feelings for him (during the talk with the lawyer she hired), though he’s upset and grim at the realization. He's angry and disgusted upon realizing she's with Hannibal now, but he shows no actual hurt or heartbreak - he's concerned about his relationship with Hannibal already. He shows the same behavior back in S1 - his dreams are filled wth darkness and Hannibal/Wendigo; he shares his most intimate thoughts with Hannibal; he covers up murder for Hannibal and Abigail, while Alana comes to his thoughts only when she's physically there, when he's losing control, or when she's in danger.
So, in my opinion, their bond has always been shallow, and it never went further than superficial friendship and physical attraction. And it fits with Will’s character.
Alana, I think, is attracted to Will and feels sorry for him. I don’t see any genuine romantic feelings from her side either - the worse Will feels, the more she cares about him; when he feels fine and confident, she loses interest and becomes intimidated.

im watching Buffy for the first time and like. jfc when cordelia (in s1 e11, that one with the invisible girl) is saying how she can feel totally alone in a crowd... like im not popular and im not ‘cute’ but i do feel that so much that somehow im slightly relating to her and its weird. plus shes actually... really been kinda perceptive? no one else has thought that buffy was actually strange... they think shes weird and uncool and a freak and stuff, but cordelia is literally the only person this ENTIRE YEAR, who has put together that its super not normal for buffy to literally carry weapons everywhere and be ridiculously super strong and be around when all the (magical) weird and bad stuff happens. like no one else has thought that through lmao. maybe its because she feels alone, that shes actually... busy people-watching. thinking. shes shallow, but she still catches up on work so ig shes not stupid. and shes gone about it in a very bad way, but as she said, its better (for her) to feel lonely while surrounded by people, instead of actually alone and feeling lonely. its almost............ character? development? arc maybe?
i dont like her still, but this is just a character analysis ig?

- The Leviathan Chronicles- S3 finale- destruction of a certain civilization/their leader’s sacrifice. Up until the very ending, I had to differentiate between grip-edge-of-seat/anxiety-inducing and heartbreaking, but when that ending happened and the fuckin’ music happened... TT_TT
- Omen Podcast - ep11, a character’s death
- The Penumbra Podcast - S1 e18, when a character almost sacrifices himself
- The Phone Booth - S1 e2, when the protagonist’s wife reveals her powers & when she dies
- Primordial Deep - every bad moment in the season finale
- Putting 2 & 2 Together- e33, Rachael talking about her rape
- Remainder - a specific character revealing her final sacrifice
- The Two Princes - S3 e7, basically the entire 1st half of that episode
- Under the Electric Stars - S1 e13, a specific character’s betrayal dilemma moment
- Unwell Pod - S3 e5, Dot’s dementia break downs
- Vacant Arcadia - Eps 9 and 10, many many moments. Although the 2 moments that nearly made me cry was Marx’s self sacrifice attempt and also Rez & Machie’s final duet/rescue. Also the Hacker part 1, 2, 3 songs are weirdly punny, horny, and tragic at the same time. Please please check this out this show.

Spoilers Ahead for Stargirl S1 E9 (Brainwave)
I am tempted to just start doing youtube channel, but for now I am blabbing to a post on tumblr about Stargirl episodes from Episode 7. But let me just get to everything I want to for this week.
All the spoiler will not only this week be in my opinion on the episode but will be also just spoilers over the 41 minutes of this episode.
Overall episode: 9/10, I enjoyed this one more than last weeks. It had more moments with some of the character, and went more in depth of some of the storyline. Along with Brainwave, so I am excited for next week to see what happens.
Summary: Alright, so we start the episode off with Henry King not Henry King Jr. with him starting to learn about his powers in a lab full of experiments. We see him getting muggled until he reads the thoughts of the man and then gives the man a seizure and then the man falls on the ground and dies. And then we see him go in front of a camera filming or documenting about his powers after experimenting on himself. Then we see Henry pulling out the tapes from his fathers vault and starting to watch that video which was marked Day 1. Next we see Courtney talking about how she wants to recruit Henry Jr. to the JSA, and use his powers to figure out what Brainwave’s Power is. Pat at first is weary and we see a picture of the Seven Solider’s Of Victory. Which of course Pat was apart of. But he explained how the stopped Cindy’s father or Dragon King in New York once since I have forgotten Cindy’s father name. Then we see more of the Janitor which I suspect he is either a JSA member or apart of the Seven Solider’s Of Victory. Because he sees a vision of him holding the staff which is his mop. Next we see Beth looking at Cindy’s house with the goggles and it says she went to study overseas with her mom which isn’t true as her father the Dragon King locks her in a chamber in the underground tunnels are. And then she talks about how she killed her mom. Her Mom seriously. And then her father puts gas that makes her go to sleep. Bye Cindy for just this episode. Then we see more of the videos or tapes Henry is watching, and then him using his telekenetic powers. And then we see the JSA fight due to Courtney wanting to recurit Henry and Yolanda storms off after what Henry did to her. Beth agrees with Courtney while Rick sides with Yolanda. (Civil war vibes). Next we see more of the Tapes, and Henry watching them. Later to see his dad’s hate for humans. And then he talks to his maid, and after that he hears her thoughts, and then hears his dads. Then we finally see the plans of the ISA when Dragon King annonces that Henry Jr has his fathers telepathic abilities. Which then the satelite would work and would make people fall under “the perfect world” under mind control across six states to make a perfect america. Like super serious villain vibes. Then we see a moment of Jordan in his office until Barbra interrupts him on his mission that he finished, and then she invites him to dinner. Like seriously I swear he will kill Pat. Then we see Henry reading minds of people when he goes to the hospital. Then Courtney and Henry have a moment where she is trying to recruit him and trying to tell him that their is good to every bad person and their bad thoughts you just got to look deeper because everyone loves. And she told him he can come to her whenever and help her. And then leaves. And PS. yes now henry knows Courtney was the one that did that to his father. Then we see that Pat wants Beth and Rick alone to do some research about the underground tunnels. So they get alone time but Beth reads all the books, while Rick tries to see more of his father’s journal since Pat needs to go to this Dinner. Oh I already told about the whole Courtney and Henry which goes after this but anyways it happens. Then we see more of Barbara and Pat talking as he almost tells her about everything that him and Courtney are doing before Courtney stops him and the guest arrives. We see the Mahkent’s enter and I just lit up when I saw Courtney see Cameron and his father and grandparents at the door. I just love the two. And then we see Henry get pulled into a room which is Yolanda doing it because she tells him or warns him she will kill him if he messes with her friends you know who the JSA. And she will kill him, but he reads her mind and I feel like she may be the reason next episode he helps since she said she loved him, past tense. Then we skip back to the dinner seeing that Courtney and Cameron are sitting next to another and then they say a prayer which only Jordan and Cameron’s grandparents know because it is in Greek, and he could only speak French or learned it. Then we see Pat get jealous like seriously death glares at Jordan, I want to see those two fight fist fight. Because I swear Jordan wants to kill Pat because he likes Barbara who is a married women. And then we see more of Rick and Beth (Hournite)  which Beth found something calls Rick who are then sitting together really close on a couch as Beth is reading over the history of Blue Valley and the tunnel and when they are built. And then we see how both of them talk about another to each others parents. Like oh my gosh they are so cute! Then Jordan asks about Pat and let me say I swear they are trying to rival another. Then we hear about “why Pat moved to Blue Valley” which is partily true. Then we hear a small bit of Barbara hating a bit of her childhood in Blue Valley. Then they both talk about remaking Blue Valley with what they are doing for families and Jordan and Barbara smile at another. And then we hear the grandparents talk about how Courtney worries them and how they might have to kill her basically. HELL NO! I love Cameron and Courtney and two those Grandparents need to go. They are speak Norwegian. And then Courtney does go get more food since she gets up then grabs the hot pot of food, and then she gets the gloves on since it stings her. Once she goes back and hands it to Jordan it doesn’t effect him at all. Then let’s go smaller we see Courtney and Pat talking in the kitchen on how Jordan could pick that up without gloves and with his hands. Then they talk more about him being icicle and then she suspects Cameron. Like ok I get it would be hard not to since Cindy is bad. But hey I love them together so please writers don’t let them flop. I NEED THEM TOGETHER. Then they leave and we see Cameron basically asking her out to hang out again, lets hope it isn’t at his place. But they do hug which is cute but I need more. Then we see Jordan and Courtney interact as he says he wanted to meet her and supports her basically giving her his blessing to date Cameron. Hey at least even though he is a villian he supports them dating. I love that. Then she runs down grabs the staff as Pat goes after her and she is about to go but Pat says they need to tell her mom. And in the end boom! Barbra sees it and she drops the staff which stops glowing. THen we see Henry in the hospital room with someone who says about a Will that is more trying to steal his family money. Then he does the same thing his father did by killing the man. Then at the end after that HENRY KING not HENRY JR. Wakes up from his coma and talks to his son. THEN End of episode. I don’t think this a summary more than a full recap because I swear this is the whole episode.
HOURNITE SCENES FINALLY MORE BREADCRUMBS GUYS THEY MIGHT GIVE US A LOAF OF BREAD SOON.
YOLANDA BEING A BADASS!!! Like she goes after Henry and threatens him about her friends. So can she be my friend?
Cameron and Courtney Scenes, I don’t want her to judge Cameron based on his father, I need them together and I want him to be good.
HENRY READING MINDS AND KILLING A PERSON. Like yes he kills someone but I do suspect that is why he helps them too not only because of Yolanda, but because he didn’t enjoy it he wants to help people and sees what Courtney means.
PAT BEING JEALOUS OF JORDAN!!!! I loved it so much the jealousy and tension between the two at the dinner was crazy funny and I want Pat to beat him up even if it’s in his Stripe suit.
Learning more about Brainwave was cool because backstory time.
DID I MENTION HOURNITE SCENES.
BARBARA FINDING OUT COURTNEY AND PAT’S BEGINNING OF THE SECRET. Not fully but she saw the staff and heard a bit of the arguements between the two.
HENRY WAKING UP HIS FATHER. I loved that scene because I knew it would happen I guessed it. I knew Brainwave would wake up. HE IS BACK AND READY FOR STARGIRL’S BLOOD IN REVENGE.
I DON’T KNOW IF BRAINWAVE REMEMBERS YET IDK NEXT WEEK MIGHT TELL ME.
HENRY NEEDS PROTECTION BECAUSE I FEEL BAD FOR HIM. RUDE AND HARD ON THE OUTSIDE BUT A CONFUSED MARSHMALLOW ON THE INSIDE.
Can you tell I’m writing this at midnight my time, and I’m tired but I wanted to get this done since I watched the episode 10 my time.
What I believe and want in Stargirl S1 E10 (Brainwave Jr,)
To see the JSA kick some butt for once and get back in action.
Did I mention Training scene before, hmmmm YES YES I HAVE. I need just one scrap of a proper one from the team.
When the JSA enters the tunnels and finds out about the plans that the ISA has.
Barbara and Pat fighting about everything and how she was lied to. And how Jordan is flirting with her.
More scenes of HOURNITE even if it’s just a loaf of bread this time.
Cameron and Courtney scene like where she goes on a date with him.
Henry Jr. decided to be good because he didn’t like killing the person and doesn’t want to be like his father or hurt the world so he decided to join or help the JSA fight the ISA.
See Henry apoligize to Yolanda and where she can at least stand him for two minutes to listen to him.
A kiss scene not long but just one not saying which ship it doesn’t matter I just need a bit of romance since things will get ugly once E11-13 hits us.
More of Dragon King. I need to know more about him, and this Janitor.
Thank you guys for reading it. Me and tumblr on my phone are fighting since I finished this last night and it wasn’t posting. But now it’s out, and now I can stop trying to save it on my phone when it doesn’t. I have tried posting it, so they’re are no fun colors really for me to play with on my computer. Ok but for now enjoy. I’ll be back next week for E10.

Henry Durrell Ball
September 16, 1887 - February 28, 1915
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball’s father, Henry Durrell Ball, known as “Had” to friends and family, died on February 28, 1915, at 1am, according to his death certificate. Oddly, his death certificate lists the date as February 27, possibly due to the death occurring at 1am.
The official cause of death was typhoid fever. He left his wife Desiree (”Dede”), and a daughter, age four, Lucille (”Lucy”). His wife was pregnant with his second child at the time of his death. His son, Frederick (”Fred”) was born in July 1915. His family is distantly related to George Washington, first President of the United States. Henry Ball was just 28 years old when he died, having been born on September 16, 1887 in Sheridan, New York. Coincidentally, this was the same year that William Frawley (Fred Mertz) was born.
Rumors persist that Henry and Desiree also had another daughter, Ethel Madeline Mitchell (nee Ball). No tangible proof establishes the year of birth or validity of the claim. The rumor was probably motivated by the name “Ethel”.
Tumblr media
At the time of his passing, he was living at 126 Biddle Street, in Wyandotte, Michigan. Professionally, Ball was a lineman for the Bell Telephone Company. He took job offers that moved his family across the country, including Montana and New Jersey.
Tumblr media
"I do remember everything that happened," Lucille said. "Hanging out the window, begging to play with the kids next door who had measles, the doctor coming, my mother weeping. I remember a bird that flew in the window, a picture that fell off the wall." ~ Lucille Ball
The death of her father at such an early age had a great impact on the future queen of comedy. Throughout her television career, and the four situation comedies built around her, the “Lucy” characters had mothers, but their references to their fathers remained vague and off-screen. There are one or two anecdotal mentions of fathers, but nothing of any substance, let alone emotional resonance.
Tumblr media
The one notable exception is in “Lucy and Johnny Carson” (HL S2;E11). When appearing on “The Tonight Show” and playing Stump the Band, Lucy Carter chooses a song titled “Snoops the Lawyer” that she says her father sang to her when she was a child.
Tumblr media
Another was in “Mother of the Bride” (LWL S1;E8) in 1986, where Lucy Barker and her sister Audrey (Audrey Meadows) mention their father in a private conversation in the kitchen.
Tumblr media
The location of Henry’s passing, Wyandotte, Michigan, haunts early seasons of “I Love Lucy” through a framed portrait of Major John Biddle painted by  Thomas Sully (1783-1872). In 1818, Biddle (1792-1859) acquired 1,800 acres of land south of Detroit and built an estate which was later developed into the city of Wyandotte, Michigan. Lucille Ball was about a year old when her family moved to Wyandotte so that her father could take a job with Michigan Bell. Coincidentally, they lived at 126 Biddle Street. When Henry died the family moved back to Jamestown, New York, where Lucille had been born in 1911.
Tumblr media
The portrait of Biddle turns up again during season 5 in “Lucy Goes to a Rodeo” behind the desk of Ricky’s new agent, Johnny Clark.
Tumblr media
OH, HENRY!
Only minor characters in Lucille Ball series’ shared her father’s Christian name:
On Lucy’s radio show “My Favorite Husband” an elevator operator played by Louis Nicoletti was named Henry.
The nearsighted waiter played by Frank Nelson in “Lucy Changes Her Mind” (”Pork chops, huh?”) was named Henry.
The tourist from Kansas at the top of the Empire State Building in “Lucy is Envious” was called Henry (Dick Elliott) by his wife, Martha.
The psychiatrist friend of Ricky’s in “The Inferiority Complex” (“Treatment, Ricky! Treatment!”) played by Gerald Mohr was named Dr. Henry Molin.
Ralph Dumke played Henry Opdyke in the film Forever Darling.
William Windom played Jerry Carmichael’s handsome History teacher Henry Taylor in “Lucy Digs Up a Date”.  Ironically, Lucy would later claim Taylor was her maiden name!
A teller at the Westland Bank was named Henry (Irwin Charone) in “Lucy Gets Mooney Fired.”
A showroom waiter played by Milton Frome in “Lucy and Donny Osmond” was named Henry.
A college student in “Lucy and Andy Griffith” played by Hank Stohl is named Henry.
Tumblr media
Like her own mother, Dede (who is said to have attended every filming of her daughter’s television shows) Lucy Carmichael, Lucy Carter, and Lucy Barker are all widows with children. Lucy Carmichael went the extra mile to be both mother and father to her children in “Lucy Becomes a Father” (TLS S3;E9) in 1964.
Tumblr media
“Several days later Desirée and Lucille accompanied Had's body on the long train ride to upstate New York. On the chill, iron-gray morning of March 5, Had was buried at Lake View Cemetery in Jamestown. Lucille looked on blankly, oblivious to the glances in her direction. At the last moment, as Had's casket was lowered into the grave, the loss suddenly hit home. The little girl was led away screaming to her grandparents' house on Buffalo Street in Jamestown. Mother and child had no other refuge.” ~ BALL OF FIRE by Stefan Kanfer
Tumblr media
When Lucille Ball passed away on April 26, 1989, she was first buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood. Three years later, her children had her exhumed and moved to the family plot at Lake View Cemetery in Jamestown, where Lucy now rests with parents, as well as her brother and grandparents. A new headstone was also created.  “You’ve Come Home”
