Around a handful of families have controlled the world’s resources for 200+ years. They’re incredibly rich, incredibly stupid, humongous cowards, and most of them are inbred, which is why they’ve had to resort to brainwashing you. Rothschild, Rockefeller, DuPont, Koch, Cargill, Sackler, Walton, Johnson, Mellon. What’re you gonna do about it?

Please write “I was wondering how long you two were going to make out like that before you realize you weren’t alone.” with Sackler 🥺 he’s a perv but also a dork and so caring, I feel like he’d not really mind about who saw you doing what but would care if you did care ❤️❤️
Tumblr media
Large hands frame your face, engulfing you in warmth as Sackler draws your face closer to his. There are far too many emotions filling him in the moment; he is proud of himself, beyond thrilled with you showing up to his play, ecstatic and fucking mush all at once when you'd told him that you were proud of him too. It's overwhelming in all the best ways and he knows no better way to express that than here, now, with all the physicality he can get away with in such a public setting.
The two of you have barely made it outside of the venue before Adam's backed you up against the old and weathered brick exterior, his broad frame pressed insistently against yours. The kiss is much like Sackler, himself: messy, passionate, astounding and devastating all at once—and in true Sackler fashion, his hands waste no time in sliding down to grab handfuls of thighs and ass.
"Fuck, I fuckin' love you," he murmurs hurriedly between equally urgent kisses.
You're barely able to reply, only managing a broken I love you too when he allows you to come up for air, which is rarely. It isn't until a throat clears to your left that the act slows considerably until, finally, Sackler has opened his eyes and pulled away from you just enough to look over to where the noise has emanated from.
“I was wondering how long you two were going to make out like that before you realize you weren’t alone.” Shoshanna offers a smile, albeit an awkward one. It is an expression that you mirror.
It is a touch embarrassing after all, to be found like this, even if you know damn well that Sackler had all but thrown you up against the wall right beside the building's entrance.
"Avert your eyes," Sackler says jokingly to which Shoshanna scoffs with an equaled playfulness.
"Sorry," you apologize, only eliciting a polite wave of dismissal from your friend.
"Don't worry about it. I just figured I should be the one to break it up before Ray comes along."
"Fuuuuucking Christ," says Sackler, a huff following his statement before he looks over to you with an apologetic look. "You want to get out of here?"
A single nod is all it takes for Sackler to release his hold on your face in order to reach for your hand, giving Shoshanna a wave as he begins to tug you down the sidewalk away from the secondary show the two of you had just put on for free.

All the Beauty and the Bloodshed.
D: Laura Poitras (2022).
Addiction also drives Laura Poitras documentary portrait of photographer Nan Goldin, who ran away from a repressive dysfunctional family (after the suicide of her brilliant and beloved sister) and dove into the bohemian demimonde of Boston and New York chronicling the drug addicts, queers, drag queens, hookers, sex workers etc. of lower bohemia. As a photographer she smashed the difference between artist and subject showing the underground denizens as her makeshift family (and during the 80s and 90s AIDS crisis, the decimation of that family). The film tells her story but intercuts it with her current struggle against the drug corporation Purdue Pharma over their marketing of oxycontin which helped turn her into an opioid addict and nearly killed her. Her activism is focused on pressuring the most prestigious museums in the art world (many of which have hosted her work) to reject the endowments of the Sackler family, major art philanthropists who also control Purdue, as well as removing their names from museum exhibits. Poitras takes what could have been a messy mélange of themes and turns it into a strong depiction of an artist’s turn to activism. By the end when Goldin makes the Pharma board listen on Zoom to hours of testimony from victims of the opioid epidemic (you can see the blood drain from their face) the story seems to be one of a piece – the lifelong effort by the artist to make us look at the people who are supposed to be invisible and to see them.

PainKiller
Tumblr media
I've watching Netflix's PainKiller and it really bugs me because what the series depicts isn't a 'Sackler' problem, it's a capitalism problem.
If the FDA were doing it's job the likelihood that the Sacklers would have been able to market the drug would have diminished significantly.
The problem is that when we're talking about money, and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) is nowhere to be seen, because capitalism is all about money, not people.
And I'm not saying that we can do away with capitalism – as terrible as an economic system as it is – more than reigning in it's excesses, which government apparently isn't at all interested in doing.

View all my reviews

All the Beauty and the Bloodshed
“All the Beauty and the Bloodshed”, to dokument na który czekałem bardzo długo. Gdy w końcu go upolowałem, rozczarowałem się tak bardzo, iż rozczarowanie to będzie punkt odniesienia dla przyszłych rozczarowań. Continue reading Untitled
