At Saginaw, Michigan, Mikado 1097 leads a Ludington-bound freight over Pere Marquette’s new bridge over the Saginaw River in the 1940s. The three non-moveable trusses were simply moved from the old piers to the new ones in an operation that took only 13 hours.

Behold the second largest mural in the United States. Here in my hometown of Saginaw Michigan. Finally gotten around to taken pictures across the river today.
1960. Weiss Elementary School, Saginaw, Michigan. The school was directly across the street from the subdivision where I lived. Miss Cheiswahl was our principal, Mrs. Scheisberger was the secretary. Mr. Kerkey was the custodian and also the crossing guard who helped us cross Weiss Street safely.

I first posted the progress on this side on June 10 here and wanted to get more shots now that it is complete. Many people stop by now and photograph both sides of the mural.
The first picture posted above starts at the far north end and the next is farther south, and the last is more south yet.
These were taken yesterday afternoon. Today would have been better lighting but I thought it would have been raining by now. Second largest mural in the United States.
