Oh my, is that really what I think it is...?

It is!! Another little creature has arrived! And it's so fluffy too! Though that isn't gonna do much in this hot weather!

Here, have some food, little guy. And come inside! I'm sure the others would love to have you!

That's right guys, Rain Wool is back in business!! Now that I'm getting back into the swing of needle-felting and FINALLY have lots more core wool to make all sorts of projects with, it's only right that I keep on going with this project, especially since, after Saint, I'm only one away from being done with the slugcats! I apologize for waiting so long to continue on with this project, but going forward I hope to start felting more of these guys more frequently.

In the meantime, however, I'm happy to finally share this fluffy little green bean!

It probably isn't very visible in these images, but on the cheeks, arms, and tail I intentionally left the wool less felted in for a softer, fluffier appearance. Since I have barely any of the straight wool roving felters normally use for long hair, this is my general go-to method for fluffy creatures.

I still think he looks adorable though, and I'm so excited to be close to finishing the slugcats!

PART TWO of saint references! This is for what they look like when using their powers ("attuned;" also, this is technically a half-echo form)

For a little bit of lore background on echoes. I imagine they're basically dreaming, and their dream is of a campaign where they try to ascend properly. If they try to enter the void sea they'll end up in Rubicon, which is unique for every echo and reflects places and creatures from their campaign.

The point of Rubicon is that's where the echo has the chance to break free out of what's holding them back. In Saint's case, they are too attached to the old world to be willing to let go of it.

Once an echo has broken free, then they basically wake up. Then it's up to them whether they want to move on, if they want to linger, or if they want to be reborn and try again (but with their memories intact). Echoes that linger can shapeshift, including into a "half-echo" form, where their appearance is a combination of their pre-ascension and echo selves. Saint in this case has an echo aesthetic hehehe :]

Yes! He's very self aware, and even hacked the game so you wouldn't find out his real name or get his bad end ^^

20 Feb 2024 EDIT: Slight retcon; I don't think Ren would be self aware that he's in a game, per se. He's aware that he can prevent information from being revealed and change the course of the narrative — which might seem strange if he really thought about it (Like... No one else has shown signs of having this ability...) — but he doesn't know that his world is a "video game" or that the player exists. I hope this makes sense!!

he's been creeping up on me lately, i will admit...

my james is utterly marvelous & the slightest bit pathetic, in a way that only adds to his charm? james is a sorry, silly, impractical FOOL, but when he laments about whatever idiotic trouble he's gotten himself into, he's half-smiling and things that would make anyone else seem ridiculous only make him rakish & dashing

to me, my james evokes the feeling of when you see someone handsome in slightly too-small trousers with their ankles peeking out. the impression is just hopelessly endearing.

his arrogance is especially annoying because he is SOO pleasant & congenial about it. james makes sparkling small talk, cracking all these hilarious self-effacing jokes about his shortcomings, but you can tell that he KNOWS how charming he's being by acting humble (and how much he loves to be loved)

his idealism is what gives him that larger-than-life quality, as much as it makes him an idiot. james is fundamentally romantic. at his core: he is don quixote, rescuing imaginary maidens and tipping his hat at windmills.

i picture james as the person who can't resist a piano, hunched over one at a family party, on a bench that's the slightest bit too small. he's laughing (his laugh is so, so distinctive) at the way his knees stick out & knock against the wood. he has a gift for embarrassing himself but not making it look awkward at all.

his glasses are always hopelessly smudged. he had a stutter as a child. he's UNBELIEVABLY stubborn in the most sanctimonious, maternal way— he's sternly lecturing with hands on his hips. at a pureblood gala, he's smuggling a tray of appetizers into the garden. he always smiles like he's letting you in on an EXCELLENT inside joke

james is also animated by a deep sadness. a melancholy, even? that same old fashioned romantic quality he has puts him a little off-kilter with the rest of the world. he wouldn't be so charming if he didn't seem lost.
