I was thinking about how Tony invented time travel for Peter (as I do) and something that just connected in my brain about this is... how big a deal Peter is in his relation to Tony when you factor in how fucked over by canon Tony is when it comes to relationships with other characters. It's a common joke that people will be like "how do you expect me to see the Avengers as a found family when I can barely see them as work friends?" and I feel like Tony gets the worst of it.
Looking back over all these movies, with all these characters Tony's been teamed up with, "friends" with, etc, there's literally only four characters that I'm left feeling like have any lasting, genuine care and friendship for Tony and that's Rhodey, Happy, Peter, and Nebula. And the friendship with Nebula is after the Snap, after Peter's already gone. So before her, only three characters like this. Everyone else is always blowing him off, abandoning him, ignoring his pretty explicit cries for help, listening to tabloids over the man himself to make decisions about his character, etc.
He lost so much when he lost Peter. And it makes so much sense that he only agreed to help undo the Snap because it would bring Peter back. He would have done the same if it was Rhodey or Happy. Or Nebula if the series of events were in a different order and their friendship came before the Snap. Tony's surrounded by people but he has so few actual deep connections, and so many of his relationships he cares more about the other person than the other person does about him. The places these four have in his life can't be understated.
Close to zero percent chance it was at all intentional, but it's actually artistically beautiful how one of Tony's few fully reciprocal friends is Nebula, the character introduced as an antagonist and spends one and a half-ish movies seen as Gamora's more violent, villainous sister, and then we find out her past where she dearly wanted to have an actual sister in Gamora and it was Gamora that fostered the hostile relationship between them. Gamora was a child in all this so it's not really the same, she doesn't deserve the blame I'd give to Tony's adult "friends" who constantly mistreated him. But it makes for such an interesting way of seeing Nebula and Tony's friendship. They're more thematically similar than many (even the writers) probably think.

Get to Know your Author
Thanks for the tag @mischief-and-tea-by-the-sea :D <3
1. How many works on AO3?
31
2. Total AO3 wordcount?
205,244
3. Top 5 fics by kudos?
So We're ... Friends part 1 of my 7 parter novel length FrostIron series. Unsurprising that it's number 1 in kudos as well xD in which Tony and Loki go from enemies to friends & allies. I'm a little unsure by now how I feel about parts of the series but this one is one of my favourites
You Home, Merlin? part 2 of the above :) shorter, a little fluffy, a little silly. Tony and Loki being friends and growing closer
Wanna Be More Than Friends? Cause I Really, Really Do keeping with the theme, part 3 of the above. In which Tony and Loki go from friends to lovers. I'd probably recommend this part right along the first one. Mostly fluff, a good shot of angst, then more of the fluff to round it out xD
open arms the outlier in this list. It's part 2 of my other (pride themed) frostiron series: an au in which Odin put a spell on Loki to hide his Jotun features and it caused him increasing physical discomfort throughout his life. This part is set after Loki got rid of the glamour and can finally breathe, so to say. He slowly settles into his new circumstances living in the tower, dealing with his newly uncovered identity & glamour free body, makes friends (the Avengers), has fun and is just... happy. At last. God why can't he just be happy in canon like once no I'm not salty at all what do you mean xD
I've Waited Forever To Spend Eternity With You part 5 of the first series. In which Loki and Tony go from lovers to engaged :D pining, feels, angst, fluff. This is one of the above mentioned where I'm a little unsure how to feel about them. Still very fond of it though. This series kind of made me a frostiron writer (and writer in general) and for that alone I adore it
4. What fandoms do you write for?
Almost exclusively MCU (as in Frostiron), but I've written one little fic in the Zelda (botw/totk) fandom with another one lurking in the depths of my brain, and there's one Johnlock fic I'm planning on writing. No idea when I'll get to that though xD
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yup, always :) though it does sometimes take me a little while haha
6. Fic with the angstiest ending?
tears of the knight it's the Zelda fic I mentioned above, and it's almost MCD if you don't know how the game ends. Lots of devotion. Lots of pining. Tears. Poor Link :'(
7. Fic with the happiest ending?
Of the first frostiron series above, part 3 and 5 end with absolute fluff shots, and the actual end of the series (part 7) is a worthy contender as well. Though there's actually another fic I'd like to put forth more than that, as the happiness in it is a little different in kind and particularly dear to me: of playful yowls and rumbling purrs is a were creature AU, and Loki is a lynx. Cats love warmth and napping (as we all know), and Loki loves Tony (as we all know *cough* that depends I guess but in this fic he very much does xD), and it ends with Loki nodding off in a sleepy, fuzzy state of love and warmth. Just so soft and domestic and cozily cuddled. (I frickin nailed that ending (•‾⌣‾•) xDD)
8. Do you get hate?
Not once. *knocks on wood* xD
I think a big part of that is my fandom. MCU isn't exactly new, and I wasn't around for any major disputes or drama. I think the ones that have stuck around and are still reading FrostIron 12 years after the one time they met in canon (lol) are not quite as likely to get all passionate and up in an author's face about sth they might have disliked or whatever. Adding onto that, I'm also not very critical of particular characters in my fics (and if I am, at least not in a way one might see as bashing... I think), and I don't write about any particularly out there stuff, so it's no wonder the reception has been friendly haha
9. Do you write smut?
Very rarely. Likely couldn't/wouldn't write it just for the sake of it (though I do frequently enjoy it for the sake of it lmao). Emotional development is what I'm here for most of all, and if a sex scene illustrates/shows it best, then sign me the fuck up. As of now, I've written two, but there's one fic circulating in my brain that'll add a couple more haha :D
10. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Nope. Not sure I'd be able to, or even want to. On any kind of team task, I oftentimes slide into a mindset of "let's just be polite and civil and cooperate and compromise and then we can finish and go home" but I'm not looking to have that kind of experience in writing. Sure, sometimes there's a thing and you'd be well-served to put away some of your personality and the stuff that makes you you in order to get that thing done cordially as well as efficiently. But making writing that thing? Nah. That's mine. Maybe someday I'll be able to view it differently but for now, I can't imagine seeking out cooperation, nor compromise xD
11. All time favourite ship?
It feels a little weird not to say FrostIron given I write them and they're on my brain daily. That said, it's likely Johnlock. Sherlock Holmes and John Watson are just such a classic pair. I'm most fond of their BBC Sherlock iterations (s1 and s2 only though lol... actually, no. only s1... and maybe like part of season tw— anyway) but they're rather lovely in most versions I reckon
12. WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
None :D there's a good number lurking but I think I'll get to them in time. And if not, well. Can't speak for future me, but chances are if I don't want to write sth (anymore), I also won't want to finish it (anymore) given my detachment/devaluation mechanisms. But again, who's to say
13. Writing strengths?
Fluff and humour. The fuzz. Fluff powers my soul, and I'm fairly sure it shows in my writing xD
As for specifics though, I'm not really sure *scratches head*
14. Writing weaknesses?
Dialogue, or: What The Fuck Do People Say.
Of course practice helps and I've gotten much better at making my main blorbos speak to each other but when there's others involved? Parents in law? Business associates? Some fancy schmancy at a gala? In these cases there's something I sorely lack, and it's a frickin clue xDD
Also, environment descriptions. 1. I am not good at them. 2. I'm not really interested in them. and I feel like those two kind of exacerbate each other lmao
Wanna play too? @bottan-blobbington @feltwrong @minhyongi @vilyanenyavilya @izhunny and anyone else who sees this and is interested— feel tagged! :D

Any time I see Kate and Yelena stuff, a part of me gets a little salty. Not because I don't think their chemistry is hilarious, it is. But I'm also reminded of how Marvel purposely aged down America Chavez, the one lesbian character of the bunch, and blocked us from ever having Amerikate in MCU.
Fuck you, Marvel.

I went diving for Thunderbolts* spoilers on reddit bc I had to know if this movie was worth being hopeful about
no direct spoilers, only talking about stuff related to my blorbo, but still putting this underneath the cut for people who want to go in completely blank!!
so on one hand, I'm not surprised. :/ but I'm still disappointed that my theory turned out to be wrong after all, even though I knew it was a long shot. the fact that we get nothing, not even a scrap, in a film titled Thunderbolts just... ugh, I'm still salty about it, ngl. the fact that they're seeming to insert another character in the spot Zeems had in the comics does not thrill me. I know his mcu character is wildly different, but also, I just want to see him againnnnn ಥ_ಥ
on the other hand, I'm also deeply, deeply relieved that nothing happens to disrupt from sokovia with love due to some form of mcu/mousecorp dumbfuckery. I don't have to au anything or add canon stipulations, I am still alone in the sandbox, playing with my favorite dolly that apparently mousecorp forgot even though he's one of the most compelling, depth-driven characters AND I STAND BY THAT
so. I'll take the wins where I can, I suppose.

Omg we're on the same wavelength re: Thunderbolts and CA:BNW! Low key I feel like BNW was set up to fail in a lot of ways and I could kind of tell from a mile away that they'd be received differently. Having not seen it yet, just from the marketing and behind the scenes alone, Thunderbolts feels like Marvel's first honest attempt at a mainline story since the end of the MCU's heyday. I just don't feel like Sam's Cap or Joaquin are being given the same care :( On top of that, I feel like they're two characters facing an uphill battle as things are. I personally loved watching it and even though it's my least fave Cap movie and I know I'm terribly biased toward Team Cap, I feel like it was a pretty solid entry. With the space to flesh out the characters' actual stories/background/motivation, more practical effects and less botched marketing, I feel like it would have been very well received. Plus the box office numbers are (imo) incredible but because the movie cost like $425 million to produce it's being treated as a flop. I wish it didn't matter but if there's any hope of seeing a Cap/Falcon flick in the future I know that will be a consideration.
And that's not to take anything from Thunderbolts, I'm excited to see it and I'm sure it's just as fun! I just don't understand why BNW's production efforts seem so hamstrung in comparison. :(
Yes! Honestly, I was pretty nervous about making the post, because I didn’t want to be a “salty hater” I’m genuinely excited for Thunderbolts, however it’s heartbreaking to see that CA:BNW got so much hate, when it was a pretty great film, not perfect but still good. It’s also with the premiers and stuff too, I feel like they’re making the thunderbolts a big thing and I don’t recall BNW anything close to this much publicity :/

also to be a bit salty about popular Vtubers and online personalities who have earned my eternal... if not hatred at least comically exaggerated but mild dislike because they're dismissive about Transformers, i have to admit it IS hystericall to see them being like
first dismissive of the series or outright mocking the iidea of people who are invested in it because they have vague memoriies of toy commercialls and assume the entire franchise is based around those commercials
and then manage to act SHOCKED when you tell them this is a really weird and bombastic franchiise that has no real long-term continuity but almost every single series, video game and movie is almost its own completely seperate continuity. These are all radically different series that have nothing in common beyond basic characters and concept
so i suppose in a world where things that have that sort of context aren't exactly that popular, with the MCU being the most prominent example of a big continuity and people still get shocked by the idea that the MCU is still not the 'canon' of all marvel content, but its own thing
well i guess this sort of reaction makes more sense when you realize this approach to continuity is not THAT commonly done until recently; that its not common knowledge that the G1 cartoon, the anime Cybertron series, the various Netflix War For series, Earthspark, Cyberverse, the Bay movies, the Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts movies, those are all completely separate and unrelated series with their own lore, context, wildly different takes on the characters, tone, and yes, continuity.
this doesn't include, say, the Aligned continuity (which spanned a while and was meant to be definiitive, for a while) or the g1 + Beast wars continuity which is technically only a continuity in a very broad strokes sense, and it gets even worse if you include Beast Machines in it, but anyway the point is
Transformers is COMPLICATED. It is FAR more complicatted than will be appreciated by most people who aren't into weird continuity-heavy stuff like comics or Transformers stuff. It is ironic that a lot of the people who express these views are into MLP, since it is also a 'continuity specific to one iteration', but ultimately it does boil down to a somewhat salty hot take:
"This franchiise has been going on almost continously for nearly forty years.
"Are you honestly surprised a franchise going on that long, constantly being reinvented and reinterpreted with almost every single work set in the series is more complicated, especially when it was never particularly hard to take a look at any of the more recent series? If you failed to notice because you've actively refused to pay attention to it, you don't really have much of a position to act like its a shocker or it was only relevant as toy commercials. So was most of the stuff you fixate on, it's not any less meaningful just because you don't care about it or can't be bothered to project onto robots instead of talking horses."
#transformers#anyway i should clarify i do not dislike MLP nor do i blame iits fans in generall#its just a weird double standard I see from a few people who are incidentally MLP fans#the contempt towards robot characters or going 'LOL how i can ii relate to them' is weird when#you ARE relating to talking horses#when it comes down to it that level of projection is a matter of scale

I love Loki so much but his stans are exhausting. They convinced themselves that Marvel hates Loki personally for being popular and taking the spotlight from the heroes (as if they care about what about the franchise gets popular as long as it keeps viewers) and are giving him bad storylines on purpose to punish his fans. I've seen them unironically use the word misandry twice when talking about Marvel's treatment of him, one of which even said that the MCU has a "bias against white males". You can't make that shit up.
They make it so embarrasing to be a Loki stan, which I am. I know exactly which Tumblr user you're referring to. I refer to them as salty, and you can tell from their speech patterns they're the ones always sending anons complaining about the Loki series in anti Sylki blogs.I want to yell at them that misandry isn't real and that white men are not oppressed.
And I say this as someone that holds a grudge towards most or maybe all of the directors in anything MCU!Loki related. As I've said before, I only watch MCU stuff for Loki. I especially loathe Joss Whedon for the Germany scene in A1 cus yea, let's compare the formerly queer-coded and now canonically queer character to N*zis, and second are the Russos for killing Loki off like that and being annoying about it in interviews, and their cringey gay Russo bs. I don't like other directors either, but my dislike is not as bad as those I've mentioned.
Also, Joss Whedon is a racist that fucked over Ray Fisher and a creep. So may he rot in hell.

Every couple of months I'm reminded why I don't like and never really cared for modern Disney. Between fumbling the MCU, their over-reliance on unecessary live-action remakes, killing 2D animation (still salty about this), the declining quality of their movies, and this latest shit about a CGI/live-action Kingdom Hearts adaptation, I don't think I'll ever like anything Disney puts out. I mean, I was never into Disney stuff like that even as a child, but I still liked some of the movies though. Makes you wonder what happened?
It's whatever. Maybe I'm just getting older and have less tolerance for bullshit. I rarely watch movies anyway. Shit, I can't even remember the last time I went to a movie theater. Anyway, good luck on that KH movie. If it is real (and it could be - this is a rumor that's been floating around for years), I doubt it'll be worth anything. That's a disaster waiting to happen.

For the salty ask!! 1, 3, 7, 12 and 23! Enjoy ^_^
1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
There’s not any I can think of that I don’t get. Like even ships I hate I understand why someone might ship them, even if it’s gross. Even ones that aren’t from the same fandom, who never have or will never interact. Like there’s a vibe, a feeling, a compatibility of personalities that just speak to people for ships like Jelsa. It’s wanting to find love even in the most unlikely of places, which is just such a human thing to want to find that I can’t begrudge them for wanting it. Can I dislike a ship that is like that? Of course, but saying that I don’t get it would be a lie, because I do get it. I get wanting to find the best companion for the characters you love, and sometimes that’s outside of their world.
2. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
Oh god yes. Blocked people just on the crime of them being anti tony stark.
3. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?
Stucky, god I shipped them back when CATFA came out but then I got death threats from stucky shippers for shipping Steve with Tony post Avengers. Like that’s not how you convince someone to like your ship people!!
4. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
MCU: Peter getting a suit from Tony. Like, I understand wanting Peter to make his own suit and use it and stuff, I really do, but if Tony didn’t give him a suit (specifically iron spider) he would have died In infinity war. Also the whole “wanting Peter to be alone and angsty” is what marvel comics seem to continue doing and everyone hates it, so why hate that mcu was trying not to do that guys what up with that 😭
I haven’t been active in other fandoms as of late unfortunately
5. Unpopular character you love?
Apparently Sharon Carter?? Which is a travesty she’s a hot spy who has Steve Rogers wrapped around her finger. She’s girlboss 100% yet ppl hate her for it tf??

Getting salty in higher ed fandom.
(Who am I kidding, it's always salty.)
That said, Princeton may be institutionally much the same in Miles's universe, but what programs a school excels in can be HIGHLY contingent on who ends up working there and gets what grants. Sure, there's some reinforcement...being good in plasma physics means you'll attract more plasma physicists even if you actively try to diversify.
In a comics-style universe, though, there's a LOT more cross-specialization. In the real world, Bruce "7 PhDs" Banner would be an example of "WHY U DO THAT?" (Seriously, you get one and maybe some Master's level work in an unrelated field if you really want more formal training, but at some point the only reason for more coursework is if you want to be accredited to teach stuff.) But given the Mad Science levels of stuff in the MCU and the SonySpiderverses, you probably do need to perform the equivalent of PhD theses in multiple disciplines, even if you never bother to defend the other theses. (Doc "Viv" Ock might not even have had her primary PhD in quantum many worlds work, given her skill at cybernetics...probably doesn't have formal coursework in education thanks to programs that let schools hire uncertified teachers in NYC.)
So, Miles does not strike me as the kind of guy to be wowed by a Big Name Reputation. He goes to a science magnet school, and is going to be aware of who's doing what work where. If he wants to go to Princeton for (Dimension-Traveling) Quantum Mechanics, that means Princeton has a group doing good work in the area, unlike in the real world.

This is the funniest thing I've ever read. I would have LOVED to see that

3, 8, 10 for the salty asks!
Thank you for the asks! <3
3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
Not for an opinion about the fandom's source material, but I have unfollowed someone (actually...two someones) for their take on a pairing that felt exceptionally angsty (almost cruel) and a little OOC. They also would start a fic with a great premise, draw out the angst with no end goal in mind, then abandon that and move on to a new fic to start the angst cycle again. I'm not saying a writer can't do that, but for my own sanity I had to unfollow. I didn't tell them and I doubt they noticed, which is as it should be. Everyone is free to right what they like.
Also, similar to your answer, if someone is spewing hate or tearing down others in the fandom, that's an unfollow for me and probably a block, but I can't think of a time when that's happened. I don't follow that many people (because I can't keep up with my feed) so I usually feel confident that the person I'm following isn't going to be a dick.
8. Have you received anon hate? What about?*
No, never anon. I did get a guest comment a few months ago (logged out but they left their ao3 name?) that I'm pretty sure was a troll. They asked (on a completed fic that is years old) when I'd be adding a rape scene. 🤷♀️ I blocked them and moved on.
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
The Telepath War in B5 s5 Who said that? 😂
I was trying to think of a more relevant fandom. I really didn't like the Civil War arc in the Marvel Comics (or MCU for that matter). I read that prior to the movies coming out and I was just so pissed off at Tony and everyone who sided with the Superhero Registration Act. Ironically, I then really grew to like Tony Stark as a character because of the Iron Man movies and then got to get mad all over again when CA: Civil War came out.
As to why, it frustrated me that the superheros who sided with it didn't seem to understand the danger in giving the government that much control. I understood what the MCU's take on it was trying to say: that superheroes without oversight can level whole cities and get away with it. Maybe the comics made the same point but I read them a long time ago so the MCU stuff is more clear and I believe in and side with Steve: What happens when the government says they can't go help someone? Are they just supposed to watch people in need suffer?
I said this in your post but very much agree with your thoughts on Aziraphale's return to heaven arc and Scully + pregnancy.
Oh! I thought of another but I can't actually remember the details? XD I really enjoyed the Fables comics up to a point but I remember something happened (I think with Bigby) and I got really annoyed and stopped reading. So whatever that arc was that I stopped reading at, lol.
#ask game#these were fun#i don't know where the general fandom falls on the civil war arc so maybe i sound naive to pick the side i was on but so be it#i was never deeply involved in comics fandom anyway

I'm not even kidding that it would have been a better character choice to go even further with Steve choosing Bucky over everyone one else, over ideology, over the world, than what we ended up with. Steve coming down off his heroic pedestal because Bucky is more important to him than anything else, even morality, is a better character than the fickle Steve we got (who I personally don't even think is gonna stay with Peggy, he's gonna get bored or disillusioned with her just like with everyone else because he apparently is unable to form genuine, permanent bonds with other people.)

if the mcu had a single braincell between their writers they could have made kang trap steve rogers in a endless time loop that he couldn't escape from & then reveal the old endgame steve as a skrull so secret invasion would have the buildup it needs but noooo they had to no homo steve to the point that it ruined not only his character, but several characters, and caused a huge plot hole that doesn't make any sense

Thanks for the tag! :D
This is probably gonna be kinda long and rambly, since I love to talk (about myself/my interests) and I cannot keep things short, ever.
1. Three ships I like:
I don't really do shipping, to be honest. I'm more interested in found family (headcanons) and shipping characters in a queerplatonic way. Most if not all ships that I like I'd like just as much if not more if they were (queer)platonic. But I guess I ship Miles Edgeworth and Phoenix Wright (Ace Attorney), although I'm again more interested in other kinds of relationships. There's also Aventurine and Dr. Ratio (Honkai Star Rail). And I guess Kaveh and Alhaitham (Genshin Impact). I think certain ships can be interesting to explore and think about but I rarely seek out fanart and fanfics for ships.
2. First ship ever:
Zutara (Zuko and Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender). Nowadays I'm pretty neutral towards it. I don't dislike it but I now headcanon Zuko as aroace (I am kinda projecting on him there, I admit) and am generally more interested in seeing and reading stuff that's centered around other kinds of relationships.
3. Last song you listened to:
Should be Ocean Planet by Ornithology and Barnes Blvd. It's lofi and we usually listen to it when we're stressed, need to concentrate or no other music is right at the moment (& causes sensory overload). We pretty much always listen to it on loop and I think it was our most-listened-to song in our Spotify Wrapped for last year. I like the way it sounds like ice cubes in a glass of water, clinking together. It's very calming and I like how it doesn't feel too warm (some songs do that for me, might be some form of synesthesia) and doesn't have a lot going on.
4. Fav childhood book:
Lord of the Rings, hands down. It was what really got us into (high) fantasy and reading. We've read it a bunch of times since when we read it in third grade for the first time. We've watched the movies too, of course, and liked them a lot.
5. Currently reading:
Nothing, really. There's a bunch of books we started reading but I don't know which one we read last at this point. Maybe one of our books about linguistics & conlanging? I do wanna get back to reading but there's so many things going on and so much stuff we wanna do that I don't really know when (and also which of our books to read).
6. Currently watching:
I did watch a few episodes of the Loki show (Marvel/MCU) a few weeks ago but haven't been watching anything more recently. I like the show but already know what happens in it and have seen a bunch of clips from it. I was also distracted by a lot of other stuff.
7. Currently craving:
I don't really know right now. Maybe chips though? Something salty and more like a snack, since I already had dinner a while ago.
8. Currently consuming:
Nothing. Gonna drink some water in a bit though, and then I'll go to sleep.
9. Pets:
We have a dog! My mom and I also do voluntary work where we take care of a bunch of animals every week, so they kinda feel like my pets in a way, too. There's donkeys, chickens, a pony, a flock of sheep that like to be petted and cuddle, and two cats (one of which always comes up to be pet by me and he's very cute!) <3
I'm not gonna tag anyone because that kinda stuff makes me anxious and I also don't really know who to tag.
This was fun though!
