funniest thing about the sambucky ship is it’s not even far-fetched we actually have like a lot to work with on the canon front

the therapy scene? rolling down the hill? fixing the boat? the shield training scene? sam spending two years searching for bucky? bucky showing up when sam needed him? the “i love you”?!?!?! good lord we really are well-fed in regards to some of the other mcu ships

It may have been the stars. It may have been the crackle of the fire behind them. It may have been the way the water danced beneath the docks. It may have been the chatter of insects around. It may have been the song of cicadas. 

Or it may have just been Sam. It may have been the way Sam’s lips wrapped around his beer. It may have been the way Sam was gazing out into the midnight sky, searching for nothing but silence. It may have been the way that Sam’s eyes burned with the same intensity of the fire lit behind them. It may have been the way Sam fell into a lull on his home soil. 

Now, though, it was certainly the way Sam was looking at Bucky. It was certainly the way Sam had been able to catch both the fire and stars in his deep brown eyes. It was certainly the way Sam reached for Bucky’s hands, a small smile occupying his lips now that his drink was finished. 

Bucky grazed the scar on Sam’s thumb as he intertwined their hands. He had Sam’s body mapped out, his heart as a compass as his eyes crossed the seven seas of Sam’s body. He knew who Sam was from the inside and out. He knew his constellations of scars, he knew the blemishes scattered across. He knew that man better than he knew himself, some days. 

“Hey, lovely.” Sam muttered. Bucky smiled as Sam pressed his lips to the corner of his mouth. 

Bucky has been lost at sea for years, lost in his own pain. He finally let himself drown in Sam Wilson.

We need to talk more about how Steve canonically told Bucky he was gonna give the shield to Sam and that Bucky thought it was a great idea. And when it happened he looked at Sam LIKE THIS:

And his whole "Steve gave you that shield because you're you" speech in Brave New World. Was that him projecting his own thoughts or was it something Steve actually said? Did he and Steve sit gushing about what a great Captain America Sam would make together???

i need a scene where sam and bucky are talking or saying goodbye etc and then sam leaves and bucky’s left looking at him longingly before going back to whatever he was doing. and then yelena just looks at him and laughs quietly and is like “dude, you’re so fucked” & bucky just sighs and mumbles “shut up” and slumps down in his chair & then yelena makes fun of him
