she also represents pretty much the same as what sam is to dean, as in, she’s dean’s sweet darling babygirl on good days and his battered wife on bad days (all those scenes of dean beating the shit out of the impala/sam when he’s angry or grieving). technically, in a metaphorical way she and sam are dean’s girlfriends/wives, and he owns both of them

sampala...what an underutilised concept....something about baby (dimunitive) etymologically rooted as a term of endearment, doll. a doll as a possession, and baby (possession). a car as a possession passed down from your father to you ('I wouldn't have given you the damn thing if I thought you were going to ruin it) but also john handing baby sam to dean to carry out of the fire, john putting dean in charge of protecting sam while he's away, john telling dean to ('watch out for your brother') on his deathbed. baby is a possession is sam. dean is a mechanic in the same way he's a caretaker.

love your posts about carfucker dean ♡ what are your thoughts on the sampala symbolism, sam’s objectification and the idea of sam’s transformed body as an object of desire, considering that he was turned into the impala, an object dean refers to as his “baby” (feminine) and fetishises deeply?

I think both the Impala and Sam already share quite a few characteristics:

Dean feels in possession of both

Dean cares for both of them in ways that border on extreme sometimes (Killing yourself to barter with Death bc your brother might be gone? (S11E17) Having a panic attack because your car might be towed? (S03E06) Just two examples for pretty extreme reactions)

Dean sees them as opportunities to take his aggression on once he's pushed into a corner

Dean sees both as a kind of home

I do think that Dean sexualises the Impala long before the Sampala. Probably something to do with the feelings of home and comfort mixed with some teenage hormones. Maybe the Impala was often the easiest place to jerk off and now it's forever entangled with sexual thoughts for Dean. Though I don't think that the Impala really counts as (just) an object for Dean, it's much more than that. Which would also explain why it’s feminine to him (canonically straight=attracted to women, attracted to his car= must be feminine) 

And I think the Sampala was just a logical conclusion from there (Also incredibly good as a tool for their adversaries but that’s a different thing) The Sampala amplifies Dean's feelings even more because all of a sudden it's basically just his emotions squared.

So Sam turning into the Impala, an "object" that means both sexually and non-sexually a lot to Dean, might lower some of his inhibitions towards Sam. It's still his girl and it's also his brother and he feels many of the same things for them and now it's not so weird that he gets turned on by the Sampala. I feel like it would be easier for Dean to cross that line because there would always be the illusion of it being because of the Impala.

Once Sam turns back Dean might just have to admit that it wasn't really that and that he just likes his brother like that and even more so that he likes him objectified and maybe feminized. He basically wants everything out of Sam that he can get from his baby.

i’m sorry but i cannot envision sam or dean calling each other “baby”. that’s just not them (to me) because whatever else they become they’re first and foremost brothers. and the amount of passion they already put into saying each other’s names basically fills that role (especially “sammy”, obviously)

I always picture the tail pipe. Seat crevice seems more comfortable, yeah, but Dean really strikes me as the kind of man to enjoy fucking his girls face down, ass up. He's got to be going at it from the back. So he needs to be fucking the tail pipe.
