Hey guys, so I took a teaching English as a foreign language course this year and I need to do some practical hours teaching non-native speakers to get my full certification - would anyone here be interested in some tutoring?

I'd love to help people with writing - my specialty is definitely creative writing (let me beta your fics and teach you where you're consistently going wrong and how to fix it! Or just give you writing tips in general about story structure, pacing, etc), but if you have other writing you want assistance with I can probably help too, so please ask!

I'd want to do the calls over Skype or Discord probably, but let me know if you'd need something else and I can see about it. Video isn't necessary because any text stuff just goes in instant messages so it'd just be audio, which has the added bonus of reducing the chance of bad lag. If you're worried about your speaking skills try not to let that stop you - we'd be focusing on writing so that's what I care about, and as long as I can understand you (or what you mean) we're good! (And if I really can't understand you you can just type in the messages :) ) If your listening is weak I've done a few hours already with a friend who said that my speaking is 'pretty' and very easy to understand, but I can easily adjust myself if you're having trouble (and/or type something out if you're really lost).

just did the 14 sample questions of the jlpt n5 and i got the first five right but those were all drop dead easy. the last 9 i got all wrong cos it turns out i'm studying wrong lmao. wanikani is fine and all for teaching u kanji but i need to do more than just individual kanji. i noticed alot of the words and sentences in the questions would've been perfectly understandable to me had i used heyjapan alot more and learned with more full sentences, and also done a bit more grammar.

also kinda threw me off cos alot of the words i did know were in hiragana lmao. like learned alot of words with the kanji and hiragana being presented to me at the same time, and then whenever i saw them again in lessons or study i'd always focus more on the kanji, and let the reading be taught to me by the lessons that focus on me saying or typing the reading. also with hiragana and katakana. the first question was asking me to put ほてる into katakana, but what's crazy about that word is i only know it in katakana so it took me like 15 whole seconds to realise it was ホテル lmao. tho i think that may also have something to do with me not being 100% confident in katakana whereas i am in hiragana. so maybe when i see ホテル i'm not actually reading hoteru and instead i'm subconsciously treating it like kanji, thinking "ahh those shapes in that order mean hotel, and the reading is hoteru. cos i think if i could read katakana as well as i can read hiragana that question would've been a two second job. so ig i need to practice katakana alot more too huh.
