The Arcane Kids Manife$to is a circa 2012 (?) manifesto with text that, brilliantly, I can't even copy and paste, since it's a Photoshopped image of the Steam OS X interface. I also really like how Tale of Tales' RAM argues for a "punk economy" above, but down here, the AxK M$ warns, "do NOT call us punk." It's like these manifestos are in conversation. I also like how the declaration "fuck formalism" might contradict "play with structure", maybe a manifesto is supposed to be in conflict / in flux with itself:

I think Xefros might be a trans boy. His quirk picks out X (chromosome) & "trans" syllables (literally meaning "cross", i.e. X, but it can be more than one thing). Doc Scratch has never contacted a boy before as far as I know, but chose to contact him with the Scratchware over Joey; being part of a notoriously misogynistic & gender-essentialist villain, Scratch likely wouldn't respect identities. (It's also possible Joey's protected somehow, maybe by A. Claire if she's alive on Alternia?) [cont]

[cont] It's hard to tell from the poster in the games room, but if the bobblehead in the car in Nikhee's route is Xultan Matzos, he has the same horns as Xefros but a different caste name. Depending on how caste names are assigned, that could be a thing with him being an opposite-assigned-sex ancestor? Like, Matzos is the name assigned to male grubs with whatever criterion and Tritoh the females? I don't know, this part of the theory is kind of crack, but we know so little about them...

Hmm, I don’t think Xultan is necessarily Xefros’ Ancestor but just a figure he looks up to. The rest though? Trans Xefros Real...

Hiveswap re: Dammek’s living block

So, we're in the next room over!

Joey didn't solve it, and contacted Xefros. The password gets encrypted by the Scratchware. But apparently only Xefros'. Or, well, Dammek's.

But then Joey posted her own password, which is a reference I didn't get. Maybe a boy from a series she likes? Or someone from her class? Nah probably the first. MrsTaylorThomas80, so weird. What's the Mrs Taylor a reference too, then?

And I like how Joey got the first clue towards trolls and their bisexuality. But that Xefros is attracted to a boy, he says, and the password is GRUBBLES (or GRUBBELS, depending on what Dammek choose)... Oh! Yes, but Dammek is his moirail, so the attraction is in the pale quadrant!

Also, I can't believe the inconsistent spelling of their band's name is a plot point, hahahah.

GIANT POSTER > Wh- Why does Dammek even have this hanging behind him? Oh wait, it was royally ordained to have a picture of the empress in your hive, right.

But wow, with the way the poster is hung up, her horns get obscured on the ceiling. In combination with the tiara, this picture REALLY makes Trizzah look like Jane! That might have been intentional!

We walk over to the far wall, and, it's a barricaded hallway.

Something REALLY screwy took place here. What's that harpoon doing through the door? ... Did Dammek do this? Is that something we'd see in Hauntswitch?

... Wait, I got an idea. What if the pawprints and the harpoon lodged in the door mean this is his front door, and Dammek is in fact the reason the neighboorhood is crawling with drones? He provoked them?

Eeesh, but Dammek bugged the inside of Xefros' home. Not cool, dude.

Ooofff, yeah it's the front door, and the "close" button shows a bloody handprint. Eesh, does that mean Dammek himself was injured as well?? Who did he even come across to throw that harpoon/spear? No way it was Dualscar.

SCREENS > Huh, Joey thinks the room we were in looks different from when she was there? What could've changed between then and now? It's a live feed. She's already thinking of Slothdad as a "monster parent", she picked up on that quick! And yup, she shares our opinion on how creepy it is that Dammek has bugged a different house. Does she realize it's Xefros' hive?

POG + SCREENS > Is... Is the thing that is "off" about the monitor, the fact that the door is still open in that picture?? Not sure what to make of these comments in any case.

... Wait. The Big Book of Monsters is still on the closet! So, what does that mean? From when is this feed, and is it paused? Wut? How?

We go to the other part of the living room

Dammek has a taxidermied version of his own Lusus. Like, what?? Is... is that his Lususgrandpa in the living room????? Oh my god.

TV > Hahahah, Joey's 90s origin is showing. It's a pretty normal sized tv "here", dear, and has a DVD player.

That left poster looks familiar! And the most on the right kind of looks like it could have Karkat in it? It's probably a young Xefros. ... Yep, when we move to the right I see Dammek's also in it.

Hah, but that third poster from the right! Is that Dualscar breaking out the Disciple from an Imperial prison? That's a dramatization of events if I ever saw one. :P Dammek put his face on Darkleer and Xefros' on the Disciple. Maybe because the pair (or the legend about them) is what he's trying to model their relationship after! Aww.

Joey absconds to the kitchen, claiming to Xefros she was chased. Deercat actually seems pretty tame! It shouldn't really be able to bond with Joey, wrong blood type, but I wonder on what terms they'll be for the rest of the game.

Ah, so now Joey chronologically gets the "monster parent" info from Xefros. And we get a sweet callback to Terezi and Dave's first chronological conversation, hahahah.

So, where in the blazes IS that hoverpad even? There's a stairway here... Right, and the other door on the ground floor led back to whence we came.

So that means it's up we go. Right, it was located in the attic. Since Dammek's recuperacoon is on the ground level... Would, for some reason, his hive be smaller than Xefros' and only have the attic up here? Probably not.

Also... Sayyyyyy... Nah, sorry, that can't be. The picture from Dammek's respiteblock showed both the BIG BOOK OF MONSTERS and the open door. So that's not something Joey could have been present for. Probably it's just an art asset reuse that gets acknowledged by the prompt. It's probably not a window into an alternate timeline. :P

To add about how scratch might be sabotaging lowblood uprisors to maintain structure like Fozzer, it would make sense considering that Dammek, a leader of the rebellion, ended up being transported to a different world, which no doubt in my mind scratch had something to do with. And its weird how Xefros, who is a member of the rebellion and is implied to take over where Dammek left off, was crushed by debris almost immediately after downloading scratchware?

also, not related to glitches but anyone has any idea why Joey says this when hearing about the rebellion? Like, she has no reason to be formatting the text in what is a clear reference to Doc Scratch, and even without the formatting, it’s just a weird thing to say? Unless is yet another 90′s reference I’m not picking up, but even so, the formatting is still odd and probably done by the Scratchware itself, which means that either: 

1) Joey coincidentally said something the Scratchware recognizes and codifies as “The Man”, which means she accidentally referred to Doc Scratch somehow. I have no idea how one accidentally does that.

2) or, Joey did say “The Man” and the Scratchware is programmed to automatically format stuff like this to the proper color and style of important shit. Which is ridiculous and the exact kind of thing I expect from Homestuck and Doc Scratch.

Cherub!!!

Cherubs: do you think Lord English is back on his old shit in this fucking game?OF COURSE! It's so obvious he has SOMETHING to do with Hiveswap.The game taking place on 11/11, the portal and key, the tapestry in the room with the globe having a serpant and Egyptian theme when Lord English travels in a sarcophagus...Not to mention that Arena Stickball is an obvious Felt reference. Both in the name of the game referencing what Caliborn calls Pool/Billiards, AND the names/powers of each ball.Like how Xefros hitting the Clover was lucky, how there were some balls that were to be avoided instead of hitting because it was dangerous, etc.There's also Scratchware being sent to Xefros, which was obviously Doc Scratch trying to help Xefros so that he can manipulate him later.And the voice? Telling Joey to go through the portal?? Obviously Lord English related.There is so much that obviously has to do with Lord English, and everyone who thinks otherwise needs to give me a damn good reason to believe them.

Act 2 still isn't out, but in Act 1, Xefros gets a mysteries sofware called Scratchware. Which the symbol of it is a white circle, and it has a green theme.

He is also a Rage player according to the extended zodiac, and every Rage player in Homestuck(the Makaras) had to do with Lord English.

Not to mention all the cherub themes, and the different balls in Stick-ball being based on the Felt, both with names and the powers. All the snake stuff.

I'm willing to bet that Jude's pet that Joey is kinda freaked out by is even a snake.

ALSO WE CAN'T FORGET THE VOICE IN JOEY'S HEAD PUSHING HER TO GO TO THE PORTAL.

Yknow I think the reason I’m not that into hiveswap and friendism is that they’re like. Entirely focused around trolls that have nothing to do with sburb/sgrub

But I think the part of homestuck that made it so magical for me was Sburb/Sgrub

I think I have a better chance with Hiveswap tho cause it has the stuff with Joey and Jude and the possibly cherub stuff and interplanetary/universal travel

So, we've got a preposterous amount of things to click & combine here, in what appears to be Dammek's combination study / bedroom / recording studio.

BYERS + VENT > Okay. Wow. That was a commentary to behold. Seriously. Byers confirmed for Deus Ex Machina? :P

DEERCAT POSTER > Aaaaaah, so his lusus is a combination! Like an animal from ATLA.

TAP SHOES + SAFE > "maybe [the safe] birthed [Dammek]" yes Joey is completely unsure what to assume about these aliens.

Hmm, I appear to make out a second pair of drums above the safe. Is that upper level stashed with a bunch of drums for him to practice on? This one has Dammek's logo in any case.

BALLET SHOES + DESK > Oooooh, yeah, there's a gaping hole in the center of the room, from the teleporter beam. That actually didn't catch my eye, there's so much clutter in here...

ACTION MOVIE POSTERS > Is that... A gruff version of Dammek's ancestor? And Xefros' next to him? And uh, Summoner? Wow. Did his movie get made into an (indie, natch) action flick to inspire rebellion?

All these guns must make Joey feel all at home. With all the wrong connotations.

BOOK SHELVES > I'm starting to get the idea that perhaps troll books also could have the tendency for awkwardly long titles.

I also see some posters from lusus, it appears Dammek shares Joey's interest somewhat there. Only predators presumably for him, though.

Oooh, we can pick up that big book? ... It's a lusus guide! Awesome! This way we'll learn a couple of neat new things about Alternia's wildlife! I wonder what Dammek would pick up in parallel, can't remember any tomes in Joey's home that could be instructive to a new arrival on the planet.

Speaking of Dammek, I presume the part of the room that’s currently cut off by a heap of guns ‘n drums would probably be accessible when we play Hauntswitch.

Joey learned a bit more about Xefros' and Dammek's intent on rebelling, and what and who against. Nothing that makes her feel more at ease about being on an alien planet, far from home.

It was noteworthy that when Joey asked if they were rebelling against "The Man", that the Scratchware automatically formatted it to refer to Doc Scratch! What, is that some hint to his actual name? Since Doc Scratch was more of a moniker? Or maybe it's just another reference to him and the cueball being the Man on the Moon.

Xefros' tendency to minimize his own struggles is actually serving a good purpose now, as it appears to Joey as if he's actually remaining quite calm under all this stress.

Hiveswap Episode 1 Reaction Part 26: Dammek’s bedroom

Let's explore Dammek's bedroom.

BYERS && VENT SHAFT ==> Pffff, one of the things I love most about this game is how they took time to write out incredibly long explanations for the silliest of item combinations. This didn't disappoint. xD

Heh, all item combinations on the safe seem to hint that there's no way we're gonna get it open. I assume we'll only see the inside of it during Hauntswitch?

BALLET SLIPPERS && DESK ==> Oh man, yeah, I hadn't noticed the hole in the middle of the room yet! All because of Dammek getting transported to Earth, yikes!

Hey, that red poster near Dammek's recuperacoon kind of looks like it's depicting The Summoner? Is it a movie about him, or something? Might be that The Summoner is some kind of role model for him, what with being a brown blood and a rebel as well?

BIG BOOK OF BEASTS > PICK UP ==> Ooooh! Joey's taking this with her! I assume we'll be able to use it when we're outside and encounter Lusii, so Joey can learn more about them?

Heh, a little bit like how Xefros was using his FLARP handbook right now.

I wonder if she'll be able to find some information on Dammek's Lusus in there? Maybe to learn something it likes, so that she could calm it down or something?

Aha, looks like we can use the power cell on the control panel to open the door to leave Dammek's room?

Yup, we've left the room! I love how Joey just abandoned the power cell once it charged up the panel and ran out of energy.

And welp, Dammek's indeed got a lot of security. So is it all to stop any highblood intruders who want to get into his hive?

Oh god, Joey's "The Man" got formatted into Doc Scratch-like text. Hahahaha, looks like she didn't notice it. I guess it's a side-effect of the scratchware then? :P

Still wondering if Doc Scratch is just gonna be talking to her directly at some point here.
