#weekendplans I have to do manuscript critiques on paper, with a highlighter. Otherwise the temptation to line edit is too great! 🖍 (I do the same thing when I do my first revision of my own work. It's too easy to get stuck in the minutiae.) Try it if you struggle doing big picture edits! 📑 I also make the text single-spaced, tiny, and then print two pages per sheet to save paper and to make it even harder to do line edits. 🌳 73 pages is still a lot to print, but it's better than printing 250 pages each time I do another round of edits. #editorlife #amediting #graphicnovel #scripteditor #boomerangpages #pageflip #infinitepages

CREAR GUIÓN

1.- ¿Cómo se estructura cada escena de un guión?

Para estructurar un guion hay que tener en mente la historia lo primero. Hay que poner el lugar (abierto o cerrado), el tiempo (horja o dia o noche) y el o los personajes que participan en el que se desarrolla la historia encima del desarrollo de la historia.

2.- ¿Cuál es el número de hojas recomendado para una película?, ¿y si es “low cost”?

Lo recomendable es 120 hojas para una pelicula normal. Pero si la película es low cost mas o menos se deben escribir unas 90 hojas. Cada guión debe durar 1 minuto

3.-¿Qué son los “plot points” y dónde se ubican en una película?

Son puntos de giro donde los cuales la historia cambia de rumbo por completo. En hoja 30 mas o menos debe haber un plot point, cuando se presenta a los personajes y un poco la historia, el siguiente plot point en la hija 90 mas o menos para que la historia cambie y termine de una forma diferente a como transcurre durante el desarrollo de la película.

4.- ¿En que tres partes se estructura una película?

La primera es la trama inicial en la que se explica un poco la historia de la película. 

La segunda parte es el desarrollo de la historia, en la que se desarrollan los hechos y surgen problemas.

La tercera parte es la resolución, en la que se resuelven los problemas que suceden en la anterior parte.

5.- Siguiendo la estructura del programa recomendado (Celtx), prepara la primera escena de un guión cinematográfico original, incluyendo descripciones y diálogos.

EL ÚLTIMO SUPERVIVIENTE

Narrador: Los 20 últimos años EE.UU habia ido en decadencia y las ciudades habían desapareciodo y se habían agrupado en pueblos. A excepción de una ciudad, que seguia manteniendo la tecnología y las estructuras (Detroit). En esa ciudad, entre las personas más ricas organizaron una prueba anual para demostrar cual es el mejor pueblo, ya sea por fuerza, inteligencia, destreza con armas o cualquier habilidad. Todos los pueblos sirven a la cuidad, están bajo su mando.

Día 1 claro y brillante

Noche-00:15 Interior(habitación- dormitorio- oscuro)

Tommy: Jack, ¡despierta!

Jack: ¿Qué pasa Tommy?

Tommy. No puedo dormir, mañana es la elección para competir en el sector.

Jack:¿De qué me hablas?

Tommy: Mañana uno del pueblo se va a luchar con con otros seleccionados de los otros pueblos, y cabe la posibilidad de estar elegido y de morir.

Jack. Tommy, ya lo hemos hablado y llevamos 3 años entrenado fisicamente y con armas, estoy convencido de que si estamos seleccionados podemos sobrevivir. De todos modos, en caso de que tu seas elegido, iré yo por ti, eres mi hermano pequeño, no te dejaría ir.

Tommy: ¡No, eso nunca! No quiero que te arriesgues.

Jack: Esto ya lo hemos hablado, iré yo. Así que ahora ve a dormir un rato que mañana a las 6:00 hay que levantarse.

Día 2 claro y brillante

Mañana- 6:00 Casa- iluminada

Jack: Tommy, levanta, que hay que vestirse para ir a la plaza para la elección.

Tommy: ¿Y si nos quedamos en casa?

Jack: Los guardias van a pasar por cada casa para evitar que nadie se escabulla.

Mañana- 9:20 claro y brillante Calle- plaza del pueblo

Guardia de seguridad: A continuación explicaremos el procedimiento de elección.

Frank (organizador de la prueba): Chicos, este año, hemos decidido que las mujeres también participen en esta prueba, así que será por equipos, solo hay dos ganadores si son del mismo pueblo o uno si son de distintos pueblos los dos finalistas. Llegó la hora de la elección. Adelante Chanel.

Chanel (acompañante de Jack para el sorteo): (gira la bola con todos los nombres de las personas del pueblo, coge dos papeles con dos nombres)

Chanel: ¡El primer afortunado para representar su pueblo es... Jack!. ¡Y el segundo o segunda es! (10 segundos de silencio) Tommy. Los dos hermanos representaran a vuestro pueblo. (la madre de los chicos de hecha mas manos a la cara y se pone a llorar.

Chanel: ¿Algún voluntario que quiera sustituir a alguno de los dos?

(nadie se presenta voluntario y la gente se retira de la plaza y se van a sus casas).

Mañana- 11:00 comienza a oscurecer interior-casa

Jack: Tommy, no te preocupes, sobrevivieremos, debemos permanecer juntos en todo momento.

Tommy: ¿Y si muere uno?

Jack: El otro debe sobrevivir para darle una buena vida a mamá. (mientras tanto, su madre en sentada en la cama llorando y rezando por sus dos hijos).

Tommy: ¿Cuando partimos?

Jack: Mañana a las 7 de la mañana. Ahora vamos a practicar un poco con las armas, el camuflaje y la escalada de árboles.

Trade: 17:30 dia- bosque del pueblo exterior

Jack: ¿Ves ese ciervo de ahi? Apunta al cuello.

Tommy: No creo que pueda, es mucha distancia, y además no veo bien de lejos.

Jack:tu dispara.

I don’t know about you, but when I started writing (and for years after) I didn’t know how important planning was and I wasn’t really sure how to do it.

I would write notes when I got inspiration, exciting tidbits of plot and character, and I’d start writing the story as soon as possible. But then, not very many pages in, I’d get stuck. And, since I was relying on inspiration alone, I soon gave up on that idea and moved onto the next one.

New stories can be exciting, planning is not always that way. Instead of pushing through the planning phase (so that ultimately you can have a complete and competent piece of work), it is very easy to move onto the next thing that sparks your interest. But it’s important to push through. Planning can be hard, but I also find myself having so much fun with it. And, once I start writing, I am so glad to have a guide, to know where I’m going.

Final Blog Post: SPACESHIP EARTH 2050 FILM PROJECT

Title/Logline: E-arth – Fix the planet before it’s to late!

 I can honestly say, that I’ve had an epic 3 weeks with my team in BCT. We completed the overall task of creating our film set in 2050, with the outcome to e-waste between now and in the future. And we did it with a really fun light hearted approach, using our individual strengths to participate and work equally as a team, and used our personalities to reflect our opinions on earths future into this film.

Two weeks ago the 4 of us got together and discussed our proposals for the main idea/message behind our short film. Most of us had the same sort of underlying idea, which was the question of “ is society relying on the government or someone to create a wonderful invention  that will magically fix earth when things go south? “ so we decided to take this idea and use it as the base line for our films content.

I researched films today that had reflected earth in the future, and most of them display beautiful, sterile, and pristine white modern buildings, with hovercrafts flying in the sky, intense societal security, homes that all look the same with no personality or character to them, and this lush green grass to contrast against it all. And that made me think, is earth actually going to make it to this white and green world all the films predict for us? I took this idea to my group, and we discussed that it is an opinion we all feel strongly about. The films don’t show us all the waste and in particular e-waste that is behind the scenes, they show us the beautiful modern lifestyle instead, forgetting to mention how earth got to this clean green point. So a new question arose for us, “ how will earth become clean and pristine in the future with the amount of e-waste pollution in our earth right now? “. A mutual agreement was then decided that this would all be the content we want to display in our film.

From this point, we brainstormed our opinions and our thoughts and broke them down, and began to draft a script. We wanted to be able to engage with an audience our age, and talk to the younger generation who will be building our future in the years to come. So we went with a witty, light-hearted mannerism towards the language used in our film.  We wanted people to understand what was happening from a person-to-person approach, rather than having someone talking and listing a whole bunch of facts about earth that nobody wants to listen to. We wanted it to be really opinionated, to really reflect how we as a group felt about the situation. And we decided on a simplistic and minimal idea for our film imagery to make sure our voices were being heard throughout the film, and not being drowned out by an extremely good animation production that could distract viewers rather than engage them.

We took our script to the game engine Gary’s Mod which we are now all very familiar with, thanks to Matthews expertise in the program. Here, he used our ideas/opinions to create a visual world on what earth would look like through the stages of 2020,2030,2040, and 2050. To make it easier for our viewers to understand, we broke our ideas down into parts, to walk people through the process of how earth will fall apart overtime unless something is done to help ‘save’ earth.  It may not be a realistic future, or it may not happen in time for 2050, but we wanted to put our real opinions into what we think ‘could’ happen for earth if they world keeps moving in this way towards e-waste.

We all worked really hard as a team to all pull our weight, continuously having our group chat active throughout our project, communicating just about every day on making sure our idea and content of our script was strong enough to balance with our simplistic-looking film. We each used our strengths that were obvious between us, Tim, having video/audio editing capabilities an the skills/personality to direct our filming, Matt, using the idea of Gary’s Mod to build us a great set to display our ideas through, Nikita, keeping us all in check, helping us communicate and work together as a team, while also generating with myself, strong ideas and visual ideas we wanted to communicate in our film. And then finally myself, brain storming and researching, while also making important decisions for our team in general, and making final, solid decisions for our visual approach to our film. Also making sure we were making progress every few days, and helping to write the overall script we wanted to have for our film.

In my opinion, I feel that my team and I managed our time well over the last 3 weeks. We really made the effort to listen to each others thoughts and keep up good communication. I feel like time went quite quickly and that this project was really easy to enjoy because we all worked really hard to draft our script together, and were really opinionated on this e-waste issue to begin with which made the progress move a lot faster because our ideas flourished so quickly, the only thing we had to really think about together was how we want to portray the idea through film. I feel like our film is purely based off a concept for a potential future we could have.
