do you happen to know of any tumblrs that do what you do, but for other... types(?) of people? i'm struggling to find an active LGBT writing guide blog specifically at the moment but it'd be nice to have a masterlist of any blog of this variety, since tumblr's search is remissfully unhelpful..! tysm
Hi lovely asker!
So there used to be a whole lot of blogs that were labeled "Scriptx" blogs and of course others too. Good thing is a lot of them were archived! So while they're not open for new questions you can still use the search and use the information provided to other asks they answered. So I'm gonna tag the other active blogs or the ones that are just on hiatus and then I'm gonna link all the archived ones!
Active:

I briefly scrolled through a few of these that I personally wasn't aware of but I can't vet and scroll through each and every individual blog in its entirety because well it would take a very very long time. Also of the active blogs some don't have their ask box open and/or some are on small hiatus'. Please be respectful of that, pretty please, everyone puts in a lot of time and effort and yeah.

Hi! After a long break, I´m back to tumblr and now I´m looking for some blogs, which are dedicated to writing - mostly short stories. Do you, or even your followers, have some blogs they could recommend? I would appreciate any blog that encourages submitted writing and giving feedback - something like a little network of authors who actually motivate themselves :)
Hi! I certainly have blog recs – after all, I don’t create all the content on this blog. However, I’m not sure I know of an example of the type of blog you’re looking for. I can list out all my recommendations and you can look through them to see if you find one you like.
SPECIALTY BLOGS:
@howtofightwrite
@scriptmedic
@scriptsocialwork
WRITING PROMPT BLOGS:
@idea-garden
@writing-prompt-s
@a-cure-for-writers-block
@oopsprompts
@thepromptperson
@writeroftheprompts
OC AND CHARACTER-CREATING BLOGS:
@oc-growth-and-development
@inspired-character
@which-oc-would
@which-oc
GENERAL WRITING BLOGS:
@lizard-is-writing
@blackgirlmagicwrites
@quilowrites
@plotlinehotline
@heywriters
@thewritershandbook
@1000storyideas
@incandescent-creativity
@a-sundeen
@yellowumbrellawriting
You can also search the tag “blog recs” to pull up other posts with references, because I’m sure I’m forgetting some. As for the type of blogs you’re looking for, I’m not sure. Maybe some of my followers can help?
I hope this helps at least a little! If you need anything else, please feel free to ask. - @authors-haven

Tumblr’s “Safe Mode”
Hey all. Tumblr, the lovely place we all call home, has decided to change the way it displays content to users, particularly minors and particularly on Mobile.
The ScriptFam are aware of the issue. We’re also aware that some of our content is being hidden. We’re aware that users with Safe Mode turned on were having trouble seeing @scriptsocialwork. The blog had inadvertently been marked as “adult content” on the backend, which has been fixed, and all of us are currently making sure our blogs are marked appropriately.
First, check if Safe Mode is turned on for you. Click here to look at your settings. You’ll see something that looks summat like this (in a browser):
Tumblr media
If you want the full Tumblr experience, make sure that Safe Mode is to the left and grayed out (as above).  We’re aware that Tumblr seems to have bugs that keep turning this back on, and it may be enforcing this for minors. No, we don’t know how to fix that.
Second, if you’re having trouble seeing content from the Script blogs, please let us know. Please message either the blog mod or me about this.
We strive very hard to keep content positive and friendly in the Script  family. We aim to be accessible and appropriate for all ages, with a minimum of gore or explicit language, but what we can’t control is how Tumblr sees our content. If a post or a blog is getting flagged as “sensitive”, we need to know about it so that we can get in touch with Tumblr.
Tumblr is an evolving environment for blogs. As things change, we’ll try to keep up with them, and it’s our sincere hope that Tumblr does not hinder our readers’ access to our content. As we know more, you’ll know more.
At your service,
xoxo, Aunt Scripty, The Script Family Mods, & The Script Family

Hi, I was refered to you by Scriptsocialwork. My MC was born and raised in a secret facility that raised girls into assassins. They were taught to talk but weren’t allowed to most of the time. When she was 7 they were rescued by the CIA, and I was wondering what would happen to them after that? I guess they’d be taken to a hospital first, but what would be the procedure after that? Some of the older girls had been kidnapped as babies, but the younger ones were born in the facility [1/2]
[2/2]by the older girls. Who would take care of them and how would they be treated and reintegrated/rehabilitated? (I don’t know if it changes anything, but my MC will be adopted by one of the soldiers that saved her, along with a younger girl she regards as her sister.) Thanks in advance!
———–
So…. in general a lot of this isn’t… my wheel house. I can talk to you about what survivors need but I have no experience with the government but I am going to take a crack at it anyway.
I wrote something about how the government helps people who have been saved a few months ago but basically it boils down to this:
In the immediacy, they do often get care re: hospital and maybe a temporary safe house/referrals.
After that? Our current united states government?
Kind of fails. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of follow up unless it was on places I couldn’t find. (My experience is working with trauma survivors, after all, not on government procedures.)  What I did find was a lot of people talking about the lack of follow up and how they ended up back in the harmful situation because of that.
Now, maybe this would be different for children being trained to be assassins. Maybe the government would keep a closer eye on them because they’re a possible /threat./
This is something you need to decide for your world.
Likely, they’d end up in the foster system if they aren’t deemed a threat. If they are deemed a threat (and maybe that’s just for the older girls) they might end up in a special program.
Now I’m going to list a series of things the girls might need, and you.. get to choose whether the government is good, bad, tries to be good but has some flaws…. This will decide what they get.
-They might need physical therapy for any sort of injury
-Group therapy might be helpful for them, maybe not. I haven’t personally seen group therapy done younger than 14 so I’m not sure.
-Individual Therapy. And they might have /multiple/ therapists. Maybe one for social skills, maybe one for emotional disturbances. I’d advise you to look into therapy for children (or guidance counselor blogs) to see different methods/tricks they might use. Even if you don’t show them actually in therapy- having a character utilize a coping skill/trick outside will help show.
-Additional oversight if they are placed in the foster system. Someone checking in to make sure they’re okay.
-A new identity
Hopefully that helps a bit,
TS

Hey, I know you're very busy right now but if you have the time do you know how to get past safe mode? I am a minor but scriptsocialwork is blocked off and I'd really want some sources from them. Whenever I try to turn off safe mode they'd put it back up again. If not then thank you anyway for reading this.
Hey there anon
You can check this link here for instructions on how to turn off safemode.
Best of luck to you!

I’m going to take a cue from @scriptsocialwork and start a new series:  Accounting Word of the Day.  Hopefully, this will provide useful information, and help me generate a glossary for ease of reference. If you have requests for accounting words to be defined sooner rather than later, send me an ask.

(1/2) i already asked scriptsocialwork this and they said you'd be a better fit so! if a child's godparent (no relation) moves out of the country, could they gain custody of the child across borders (ex: child in romania godparent in america) ? the child is very young and the parent made it clear on their deathbed/in their will that they wanted the child in their godparent's care(no one else in the family wants the child).
(2/2) also, if that is possible, would it matter that said godparent has several illegitimate children who they're already paying child support for? thanks so much!
This entire answer comes with the caveat that I know absolutely nothing about Romanian custody laws, so this is said with the assumption that Romania works similarly to Canada and the US, and doesn’t have some particular law that requires a child of dead parents to live with blood relatives, or which does not allow children to leave their country or some other law like that.
So, with that disclaimer out of the way... the godparent in another country can absolutely get custody of a child. I once worked for a family in Australia, where the mother in Canada had died, the father was an active drug user and unable to care for the child, so the Aunt wanted the child to come live with her.
With the consent of the father, the child was permitted to go live with the Aunt. I assisted the Aunt in negotiating with the father. He was aware that he couldn’t care for the child himself, but he wanted to know that even with the child moving so far away, he would still get to have a relationship with her. So we drew up an agreement that included provisions for parenting time with the child, and he and the Aunt signed the agreement, and the child went to Australia.
And this I think is key in your question: You’ve said that no one in the family wants the child. If there’s no one else who wants the child, then there’s really no question about where the child will go.
There is no one opposing the plan, so there isn’t a custody police that’s going to come around and say that that’s not allowed. Government workers, courthouses, and police are, by and large, overworked and have better things to do unless people come to their attention. People are allowed to make contracts, to provide for their children, and to do basically whatever they want - unless it is illegal. So if the parent wanted the godparent to have the child, and no one in the family is rushing out and trying to stop that from happening, then they can absolutely do that.
I’m not certain what relevance the illegitimate children they’re paying child support for has. Unless you’re implying that the godparents are destitute because of the child support and they don’t have the money to care for a child themselves? That is something that they will need to assess in determining whether or not they can actually properly care for the child. If they are unable to provide for the child, put food on the table and ensure they’re clothed and housed, then I would imagine Child Protective Services would get involved and the child might be taken from them in the future, but that doesn’t prevent them from taking the child immediately.
If they have a history of child neglect or something like that then CPS might be watching them and prevent them from taking this child, but I really don’t see that in your question.
Feel free to ask a follow-up if I’ve misconstrued that last bit :)

Hiya,I have a character who's dad was never around,but they were still taken care of and nurtured by their older sibling.How would this affect them?I'd assume they'd have respect for single parents/young parents/etc,but what else do you think would happen?
@scriptsocialwork is better suited to answer this than me!

What conditions or situations might cause a (highly gifted) 13-year-old to live alone or semi-independently?
It could be a few things that cause your 13-year-old character to live alone or semi-independently.
Her parents or legal guardians could be workaholics and therefore are always at work.
Her parents or legal guardians could be chemically dependent, meaning that they do drugs or have an alcohol addiction and leave her alone while doing drugs or while drinking.
Her parents or legal guardians could be out partying all the time leaving her home alone.

What is the average process for a child in the system from the age of around 3? what would it be like for them if they were still in the system 10 - 12 years later?
I’m guessing that you’re talking about foster care?
Unfortunately foster care is not in my scope of practice at this time. I am still looking for a mod who is knowledgeable in foster care and in adoption. In the meantime if any of my lovely followers can help here please do!

This might be a bit out of your specialty but I have this character with parents that had marital problems as a baby, despite that would an attentive 14 year old brother be enough to help raise a well adjusted person (like distracting the child when the parents are arguing, taking care of the child when the mother forgets about/snaps at the child due to arguements) The mother still tends to the child but still carries hostility. (1/2)
(2/2) and an additional detail is that the siblings then moved in with their grandmother four years later.
This sounds like a good question for @scriptsocialwork !
