Like, I'd still do analysis (... sometime in the future. I'm working on it.) but also then I could talk (and maybe draw??) stuff for my AU that I've been working on for a while, or talk about my troll OCs beyond when their classpects finally show up in my askbox?

IDK I just want to do more stuff with this blog because writing these analyses takes up a casual 4+ hours to do all the making sure canon supports my theories (or at least doesn't outright disprove anything) part and recently that time of my weekends is being taken up by being Very Busy with homework (but hey, four years from now I'll be able to tell people I know what I'm talking about in regards to media analysis because I'll have a degree in that stuff, so, y'know, worthy sacrifices and all that jazz)

Stellaron Hunters and Astral Express Parallels

So, I've noticed that the Stellaron Hunters are basically a darker, murdery, and morally grey parallel version of the more heroic Astral Express, with every member mirroring another from the other group. Two sides of the same coin, if you will. First thing I'd like to point out, both factions don't really follow any current aeon. They "follow" (very loose term here) the missing-in action Akivili and the "Destiny" that Elio forsees. Both factions also are deeply involved with Stellarons(we encounter a stellaron on every planet, the Stellaron Hunters hunt them. Obviously) Here's some similarities I've thought of between the members and some theories based off each other: !!SPOILERS AHEAD!!

Dan Heng and Blade:

Both from Xianzhou,

Immortal in some way(Blade's self-regenerating and Dan Heng's reincarnations)

Same gender

Dan heng's five star form enhances his basic attack, like Blade, who I BET was ALSO a four star before the mara and Jing Liu incident

Similar age? Don't really know exact timeline between them

Both feature flowers in their gameplay(lotus flowers and spider lilies)

Himeko and Kafka:

Both intelligent women

The pseudo-moms of their faction.

I might be pulling out of my ass here, but I'd like to point out that both of them use both a ranged weapon(Himeko's laser and Kafka's gun) and also a melee weapon(Kafka's katana and Himeko's grator).

Since they are each others parallel, I'd like to make the assumption that since Himeko was the first one to join the Astral Express, that Kafka was the first one to join Elio. It just fits with the known info we have and clears up any ambiguity, but you don't have to strictly adhere by it lol.

The being who leads their group in the direction wanted(conducter, scriptwriter, best destiny, best path to blaze)

You assume they are the cute mascot at first, but then there is something...exceptional about them, that you can't quite pin down.

Both are sentient and can presumably talk(Elio might just write to communicate, how would that work though? Toe beans? Meow to text? Lmao)

March 7th and Silver Wolf(HEAR ME OUT)

March 7th's mysterious pasttttt. Like, the similarities between Danheng and Blade weren't revealed until his five star form was revealed and I'm making the theory that when March 7th's mysterious past is revealed, the similarities between her and Silver Wolf will appear!!!!

So Silver Wolf is from Punklord, is extremely accomplished and powerful, chaotic neutral with a sense of wanderlust. I don't know much about her(don't have her character/character story) so I can't say much more, but what I do know seems pretty plausible for March's former self.

It supports my theory that March 7th's five star form will be Nihility. Imbibiter Lunae was Destruction, like Blade. The memokeeper in March's quest said her past would "only bring her pain". How nihilistic is that? Either way, I'm definitely pulling xD

Stelle/Caleus and Firefly/Sam(the best for last ;)

So this is the one that really cemented this theory into my mind. So far, you might have noticed that every member's mirror image is the same gender(with the exception of Catlio and PomPom, I'll talk about it in the comments). But Trailblazer has TWO genders/personas. You know who ALSO has two genders/personas?FIREFLY/SAMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some theory and more similarities between them

They both are the explosive power powerhouse of their group(Stellaron and Sam's firepower)

Both pretty smart(dubious) and funny(hilarious, the both of them)

They both eat questionable things...Trailblazer's trash consumables and Firefly's woodchip Oak Cake(seriously, read the description, do they have iron stomachs or something??)

...So they might have iron stomachs.

Both were presumably artificially made. We know Firefly/Sam is(born to fight in a war) and the Trailblazer is a vessel of a Stellaron. There has to be some funky, wonky, genetic/biological makeup for that.

Welt Yang and no one lmao

Anyway, I presume he doesn't have any parallel bc he's from another universe. I don't know much cause I haven't played Honkai Impact. Something about a comic and "herscherr"? Idrk but. I suppose Luocha could join the Stellaron Hunters. That would be crazy as hell and if it happens I CALLED IT, but it probably won't. Probably.

There is also the theory Sunday joined the Stellaron Hunters. It's honestly really interesting and if that's true.....Welt Yang and Sunday don't have any similarities so that's tossed out the window. So, that only leaves the possibilty that we will have a mirrored someone of Sunday joining the Astral Express in the future. That would be INSANE but fun as hell like, can you imagine?

On another, slightly less speculative note, I'd like to point out that the five stars of the Astral Express have the same paths as the Stellaron Hunters. DHIL and Blade, are both Destruction. The Trailblazer started off as Destruction and Firefly/Sam is Destruction. As I theorized above, March 7th's five star form is likely Nihility, just like Silver Wolf. Except for Himeko and Kafka. Hmmmm

It is also my theory that Kafka was supposed to be Erudition, like Himeko, but the Stellaron Disaster on her homeplanet altered her path to Nihility. We know how smart Kafka is and we've seen paths change, Dan Heng changed to Hunt after doing away his vidyadhara features, and we have switched paths multiple times now. But we know we and Dan Heng can switch between paths anytime. I think Kafka's case is different, in that she can't switch and the Stellaron permanently altered her, removing her fear and switching her Path.

So this concludes my rant, are you convinced yet ;)? It's really interesting that the two factions mirror each other so deeply. I am getting the message that, whatever our fates are, they are deeply intertwined.

With GMMTV series I always have a clear distinction. When it's a adaptation of a popular novel, I'm quite aware while watching that the script was completely rewritten by the different team, and in most cases it was for the better (it took a lot of effort to make on screen a green flag characters for My School President and Star in My Mind characters and I really mean it, I hope all the scriptwriters got a bonus for how much effort they put into making the couples' relationships in these series healthy - unlike the novel). So yes, I quite clearly separate the characters from the series from those written in the novel. For my sanity and faith in my favorite characters. They're are two completely different people for me.

But there are series where they wrote the script and the novel appeared as an addition and based on the script and team's notes (NLMG, Kidnap, ThamePo). In this case, I perceive the novel as an addition to what the director does not have time to tell about on the screen due to reasons. So this is just something canon about characters for me but unseen in the series.

And with ThamePo? Oh God, my heart cries for Po.

I assumed from the first few episodes that he was in a toxic relationship, but I didn't realize how abusive it was. And how much it destroyed Po as a person and now I feel like I looked at him with new eyes.

What hurts even more now is how much Po hasn't lost faith in people and how much his bright naive soul wants to help Thame reunite the group, even if it means he might end up getting hurt again, especially after such a big betrayal from his ex. And that scene where Po remembers Jun's words about how Thame would forget about him once the group reunites? Now it hits me in a completely different way because at that exactly moment Po in his mind was trying to deny the fact that he had met someone like Earn again. Because he had faith in Thame. May sound stupid, but it's just so inherent in his character. And because he and Thame aren't that close at this moment, it wasn't the pain for him, no. It was disappointment. And not so much in Thame but in people in general. I understand him, I experienced it once too.

And that's why the moment when Po decides to enter into a relationship with Thame will be so precious to him. Not only because he decided to start relationship with an idol knowing that it would be hidden and it would be a secret relationship again (like with ex). For him it was also a matter of trust, fear of the situation repeating itself, the question of what he is worth and what he has achieved as an independent human being and how he cannot lose this with new relationship again. Because it will destroys him.

And I can't even begin to write how angry I am about everything involving Earn now. I hate people like him. Uncle Joei and Baifern's words about him make so much sense now after knowing all of this, and yes, that asshole at least needs to go bankrupt in the finale. It's not enough for me to think that Thame is going to punch Earn in the face one day, to protect Po I need a gun.

It's time!!! A Colder Home is ready for beta readers. This YA horror novel follows Cleo and her friends, a group of amateur filmmakers snowed in at a haunted house. While there's some blood and guts, the horror is mainly emotional... think like the works of Mike Flanagan, with a hint of that specific genre of horror game like P.T. and Devotion.

We're in the final round of developmental edits, which means I'm pretty specific about what kind of feedback I'm looking for. While I do have "guide" questions for each section, overall I'm looking for feedback on pacing, character arcs, scares... basically, making sure everything lands the way it needs to. Nirei: Don’t ask why! It says so in the script! (t/n: He actually said “book”, not script, but he was gesturing to the script when saying this, so I assume that’s what he meant)

Nirei: NOOOOOOOOOO. (t/n: Poor Shoya he’s been screaming the whole day lmao) It says so in the script!!!

TLOVM, Group Dynamics and Theming

One thing about TLOVM that I’ve seen CR fans bothered by is that the Vox Machina of the show is more tight-knit co-workers than a family.

Here’s the thing: in the stream, aren't Vox Machina more tight-knit co-workers than family?

Most of Vox Machina are oil and water. They don’t blend. They’re individual archetypes: the box in the basement full of old action figures from different TV shows.

Does that mean the stream didn't have incredible gags and heartfelt talks between various pairs in the group? Nope. Does that mean at the end of the Campaign we didn't get a group of people willing to literally go to hell and back for each other? Also nope.

Just...well...did they have the varied yet consistent character dynamics that later groups did? At the very least, to the same degree?

Scanlan and Keyleth would absolutely die for each other...but what would they talk about?

On that score, TLOVM isn't that disloyal to the original.

And that's not a knock on Vox Machina or their campaign! It’s just how Critical Role has evolved. What did the stream have going into Campaign 2 that it didn’t beforehand? Hindsight, which let them build the Nein (and later the Hells) differently. It let the players mold their characters—and Matt his story—around a cohesive theme.

Something Campaign 1—as great as it was—didn’t start with.

However, going into TLOVM, the CRew had hindsight, didn’t they? Couldn’t they have found commonalities between characters and built Animated Vox Machina around a theme like CR did with their successors? And then use that to integrate a wider range of interparty interactions?

I’m an unprofessional doofus operating far away from the pressures, time constraints, and demands of professional scriptwriting…. but I’ll take a crack at it:

Becoming the Mask, You Are Better Than You Think You Are, and Dare to be Badass.

(Light spoilers for TLOVM from here on out.)

Concept: we meet our protagonists right after they’ve saved Uriel and defeated the Glabrazu. The show builds VM up to be these strong, competent, heroic, unparalleled heroes who just saved the kingdom. But as soon as VM’s alone…

“They think we’re heroes!! We just stumbled ass backward into all this by accident! The fuck do we do now!?”

(Basically, take the Rocks Fall Everyone Dies sequence from the start of the first episode, apply it nonlethally to VM and draw it out a little more.)

What they hear from this point on: “The Briarwoods are evil? Well, surely heroes such as you can put a stop to whatever wickedness they’re committing, right?” And then later: “You saved the kingdom and defeated the Briarwoods; surely you can take care of these four dragons, right?”

The overall story: a gaggle of rag-tag fuckups who are mistaken for heroes must keep pretending to be the real thing, and in the process become the real thing.

Go full The Road to El Dorado in this bitch.

Imposter syndrome and perceived inadequacy work beautifully as a common thread for multiple members:

Percy was never supposed to lead.

Vex and Vax are considered mistakes.

Pike’s family has an unsavory past.

Grog was the runt that was left for dead.

Keyleth’s trying to pass the test her mother failed.

Scanlan is the odd one out, bursting with almost undeserved bravado… until Kaylie shows up. Then it’s a question of, can this gnome, who’s only ever been good at putting on a show, learn emotional sincerity?

No matter how disparate the members of Vox Machina may be, what does this guarantee? That they all have one thing in common. They all come from vastly different backgrounds and have vastly different perspectives, but what can they all commiserate over?

Not feeling good enough.

This, in turn, makes it easier to bring in gags from the stream and build on less prominent intergroup relationships.

And this was the Nein’s advantage. As crazily different as each member was, what did they have in common? They all struggled with identity and self-image. This allowed them to form sub-groups that had unique dynamics distinct from the Nein's overall group dynamic. Character pairs could bond over that commonality.

What do we get, taking this tack with the show? We don't just give Vox Machina that same advantage, we give it from the opposite angle. TLOVM’s story is now about living up to heroic expectations to Become The Mask. This is a fabulous lead into a potential Nein series, because their story is about dropping the mask and Being Yourself.

What does this do? As both series come out, it highlights the contrast between groups and makes for a real one-two-punch.

And as a nice little bonus...

This could've brought in some real-life subtext. A joy unique to Campaign 1 is watching the cast look around at each other throughout and go “Holy shit, we can go that hard?”

Marisha’s tree dream, Taliesin’s No Mercy Percy, Liam’s speech when Vax was at the mercy of the Briarwoods…all these moments and more had everyone at the table speechless, picking up on their potential; starting to imagine how hard they could go with these characters.

And the idea of Vox Machina themselves learning to take that same leap of faith, I feel, would’ve been really cool.

for like the past two months i’ve been making an ikevil idol au (and making hesse judge it for me).

basically queen victoria is a boss of a talent agency (everyone calls her miss victoria). victor came up with a bright idea to make a idol group based off of fairytale villains. (he called it ‘the crown’ and the concepts were more victorian and gothic like ouji fashion)

william is a nepo baby, he met victor at one of those camp rock like summer camps when they were younger (they were both forced to go by their parents). william basically just did charity events before victor asked him to join his crazy idea.

liam was an actor even before he got recruited by victor. he had a lot of recognition for his stage performances and movie roles too. i think he’s the one that randomly does a backflip during concerts because he learned off of 2017 youtube trampoline tutorials.

harrison was a scriptwriter and editor before he got recruited. he met liam once before on the set of a movie and they became friends there. liam told victor about him and victor immediately started asking him to join. harry and liam have matching twitter banners.

elbert is also a nepo baby and his storyline from the game is basically the same here except i feel like he acted in horror movies and movies that you watch when you need to cry. he was under miss victoria’s talent agency already so victor easily was able to ask him to join the group.

alfons is still elbert’s assistant like figure but sometimes he gets put on set alongside elbie because the directors mistake him for a background actor. (he’s still a party animal at night and the pr team has to do a lot to cover it up).

roger studied medicine before he decided to audition for a doctor role on a historical drama. since then, he acted in small roles that involve talking about medicine. he also randomly got casted for a beer commercial once (beer commercials in japan are prevalent so his name got thrown into the spotlight once that happened)

(i always see alcohol commercials whenever i’m watching japanese music shows… anyways)

jude is still an entrepreneur in this universe (he sometimes can’t make it to rehearsals because of it…). he plays the electric guitar and bass on his off time and posted a faceless video onto youtube of a song cover that went viral. guess who was in his messages the next day…. it was victor.

ellis is still jude’s assistant, he didn’t even mean to join the group but victor took one look at him and took him in. he got popular after his introduction post on social media and got many offers to model (jude did not like that).

kate is in a separate idol group with the other ikemen game mcs. she just lives at the castle with the others.

i did create an oc for this au…. her name is airina (airi for short) and she’s the social media manager for the group. she was a freelance artist that victor commissioned for visuals of other music projects he’s worked on.

her business was struggling before victor contacted her again and offered a job to take care of the crown’s social media. his idea of the social media was to vlog the members and document just small things about each member (kind of like the fairytale reports in the original universe).

in conclusion i love rambling about idol au and i have many twitter posts on twinote regarding it.

I want to express what might be an unpopular opinion, but this is a failure. Remi handed over HER original story to a novice writer, promised to help, but in practice, it resulted in an enormous amount of undeserved hate. Stasya worked hard and wrote the story BASED on Remi's developments. Everything that was in the story was supposed to be there from the beginning. Stasya got the second season: a cold, serious, and strict England.

Against the backdrop of bright, passionate, and fiery India and how the characters had behaved there earlier, this looked unusual and uncomfortable. Stasya couldn’t influence this from the start. She was given something that most people wouldn’t like. At the very least, because England was stretched over an entire season (in my opinion, England either shouldn’t have been there at all or should have been covered in three to four episodes at most). Again, this was originally REMI’s idea.

Now, what do we have? Stasya was under constant pressure and hatred, and neither Remi nor RC defended her. Remi was supposed to oversee what Stasya was writing, but she didn't do that.

Conclusion: Remi didn’t help, or if she did, she did it in such a way that no one liked the result. SCN is written terribly, releases one episode at a time, and the plot is stagnant. The same will happen with KFS, but there’s a catch. Remi now appears as the savior and fan favorite because “KFS will finally be saved!!!” No, it won’t. Remi will step into the story arc that people loved originally.

She threw England onto the novice scriptwriter and made her the scapegoat. But that doesn’t mean the story will now be written logically and coherently because there are examples like SCN and the entire second season, which was written UNDER HER SCRIPT AND DIRECTION.

Once again, Remi has shown her true nature, and RC has shown how little they care about their employees. I have not the slightest respect for this company. Hitting rock bottom over and over again without learning from it—now that’s impressive.

Febri Interview with Shigehara Katsuya, director of M28:

I wanted to do a rooooughhhh translation of the part concerning the PSB (Furuya and Kazami) and their dynamics with Shinichi and Kogorou, as well as the tiny bit on Furukaza:

――The team-up between Kogorou and the PSB agent Kazami Yuuya, with whom he had a fated connection in Zero The Enforcer, was also exciting. But do you have particular points you keep in mind when it comes to the relationship between Public Security, including Amuro Tooru, and Conan and Kogorou?

Shigehara: The fact that no one in that group are absolute allies. Aoyama-sensei also said: "Amuro and Conan are not absolute allies, so you have to make sure they're sizing each other up", so I paid close attention to that. While sharing information, there's the feeling of a negotiation going on, like "if you know this much, then I will tell you up to this much". Doing this, they all get closer to the truth of the case. That's why they're not straightforward and tend to be roundabout in their interactions.

―― It's an exquisite sense of distance that only people who aren't clearly friends can have.

Shigehara: They're feeling each other out. Kazami and Amuro too, are feeling each other out. I don't really know about Amuro, but Kazami is always interacting in a way that makes it seem like he's struggling to say or ask something, doesn't he? That's also a way of probing someone.

My personal opinion:

First, I really like that Aoyama-sensei is directly reminding that Furuya and Conan are not "absolute allies" 83 That difference compared to Conan and Akai (or Conan and the FBI in general), who share information really openly, was always one of the points I liked most about Furuya and Conan's dynamics. I really like that Furuya plays his cards close to his chest and that Conan, being aware of it, is similarly cautious. I like that Furuya still keeps a measure of unpredictability in this... Now that he knows Conan = Shinichi, a reminder that this ("not absolute allies") is their dynamics is all the more appreciated!! and makes me all the more curious how furuya might really leverage that new piece of information. Secondly, I find it interesting that they bring up this dynamic for kazami uwu. i think it's fair, though. and interesting to say that kazami is "feeling" furuya "out" (and vice versa!) I find it all the more interesting that there's maybe a contrast between how Sakurai (scriptwriter) views furukaza, saying in Animedia that "Between Furuya and Kazami, a firm relationship of trust has already been established", and Shigehara here, talking about how they too, are feeling each other out. AND YET, I think both are true. Furuya has once entrusted his life to Kazami in M25. And judging by the events of M28, the trust at work is undeniably there between them. But at the same time, it's highly questionable how much Furuya really lets Kazami see his darker and more vulnerable side, even if we were to consider ZTT part of the timeline. I feel like, here, using "feeling each other out" and kazami struggling to say things, more than an investigation into Furuya's intention or plans, is Kazami testing the waters for how deep he can look into and understand Furuya's true feelings (about certain things). So I am really happy that it's being highlighted. Kazami has initiative and "intentions" towards Furuya, that are his own. Personally, I don't think those are bad intentions, and all the official sources so far keep underlining that his feelings of "support" towards Furuya are genuine. So if not ill-intentioned, I can only think of it as Kazami wanting to know Furuya better as a human being, in spite of and going past the limitations of their work status.
