Woo yay yippieeee even :(
From James spann Twitter (above imbed):
WEDNESDAY MORNING UPDATE: Milton remains a catastrophic category five hurricane early this morning with winds of 160 mph. The hurricane is about 300 miles southwest of Tampa, and is moving to the northeast at 14 mph. A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for... * Florida west coast from Flamingo northward to Yankeetown, including Charlotte Harbor and Tampa Bay * Sebastian Inlet Florida to Altamaha Sound Georgia, including the St. Johns River A Hurricane Warning is in effect for... * Florida west coast from Bonita Beach northward to Suwannee River, including Tampa Bay * Florida east coast from the St. Lucie/Martin County Line northward to Ponte Vedra Beach From NHC Milton is moving northeastward at 12 kt in the flow between a mid-to upper-level trough over the northern Gulf and a ridge located over the Greater Antilles. This motion should generally continue until Milton makes landfall in Florida, which is likely to occur late tonight or early tomorrow morning. After the hurricane reaches the coast, a turn to the east-northeast is expected as another trough approaches the system from the west. Milton should exit Florida and move over the Atlantic waters tomorrow afternoon and accelerate eastward after that. The NHC track forecast is nudged a little to the north of the previous one to be in better agreement with the latest models. It should be noted that this forecast is based on the model fields, not the interpolated models which appear to be too far south. Users are urged not to focus on the exact landfall point as the average error at 24 hours is about 40 miles. The global models agree that vertical wind shear is expected begin to increase over Milton later today, and that should cause some weakening. However, there is high confidence that Milton will remain a very dangerous hurricane when it reaches Florida, and maintain hurricane status as it moves across the state. The cyclone is expected to become extratropical over the Atlantic on Friday and gradually weaken. The NHC intensity forecast is similar to the previous one and near the high end of the model guidance. Milton's wind field is expected to grow considerably in size while it moves across Florida. Additionally, a large region of tropical storm and hurricane-force winds could occur on the northwest/back side of the storm since Milton will be interacting with a frontal boundary and beginning extratropical transition. Damaging winds, life-threatening storm surge, and heavy rainfall will extend well outside the forecast cone. This is a very serious situation and residents in Florida should closely follow orders from their local emergency management officials. Evacuations and other preparations should be rushed to completion. Milton has the potential to be one of the most destructive hurricanes on record for west-central Florida. Key messages *A large area of destructive storm surge, with highest inundations of 10 ft or greater, is expected along a portion of the west-central coast of the Florida Peninsula. If you are in the Storm Surge Warning area, this is an extremely life-threatening situation, and you should evacuate as soon as possible if ordered by local officials. *Devastating hurricane-force winds are expected along portions of the west coast of Florida, where a Hurricane Warning is in effect. Milton is forecast to remain a hurricane while it crosses the Florida Peninsula and life-threatening hurricane-force winds, especially in gusts, are expected to spread inland across the peninsula. Preparations to protect life and property, including being ready for long-duration power outages, should be rushed to completion. *Heavy rainfall across the Florida Peninsula through tomorrow brings the risk of catastrophic and life-threatening flash and urban flooding along with moderate to major river flooding, especially in areas where coastal and inland flooding combine to increase the overall flood threat.
Stay safe y'all.

Introductions
Hello, my name is Diane. I am a 32 year old female who uses the pronouns she/her. I've been on this hellsite we call Tumblr for over 10 years now. I've had many urls (and many different mun names) and now I've consolidated all of my muses (past and future) on discord. Here is what I am looking for.
The Basics
- I currently only write on Discord. - I will only write with muns over the age of 21, preferably 25+. - All writing will be on a private server between myself and my partner. I have a server set up with areas for OOC chat, plotting, muse info (yours and mine), inspiration, para threads, text threads, and random oneshots (just in case). - I prefer to write m/f but have written m/m in the past. - I have canon and original characters. - I love to world build. Modern. All Human. Fantasy. - I am also heavily smut motivated when it is incorporated into the plot. - I am also very angst motivated. If it hurts our muses, chances are I want to write it. - I've never really given much thought to FCs I want to use since I just make my characters for myself but I'll have a list soon. - Same with wanted opposites. I'll have a list soon. I'm really open to any FC that is a real person over the age of 21.

Book Blurb:
A delicious and dark gothic romance from bestselling author Romina Garber!
THE HOUSE IS ALWAYS HUNGRY…
After a mysterious attack claims the lives of her parents, all Estela has left is her determination to solve the case. Suffering from survivor’s guilt so intense that she might be losing her grip on reality, she accepts an invitation to live overseas with an estranged aunt at their ancestral Spanish castle, la Sombra.
Beneath its gothic façade, la Sombra harbors a trove of family secrets, and Estela begins to suspect her parents’ deaths may be linked to their past. Her investigation takes a supernatural turn when she crosses paths with a silver-eyed boy only she can see. Estela worries Sebastián is a hallucination, but he claims he’s been trapped in the castle. They grudgingly team up to find answers and as their investigation ignites, so does a romance, mistrust twined with every caress.
As the mysteries pile up, it feels to Estela like everyone in the tiny town of Oscuro is lying and that whoever was behind the attack has followed her to Spain. The deeper she ventures into la Sombra’s secrets, the more certain she becomes that the suspect she’s chasing has already found her . . . and they’re closer than she ever realized.
Review:
Vampires, gothic romance, evil twins, and a haunted house. Estela's life is forever changed when a mysterious incident kills both her parents and 23 other individuals on a train... leaving Estela the sole survivor of the event. Estela has no idea what happened or why she is the only one to make it out alive. She is determined to find out why and when a mysterious invitation from an estranged aunt arrives asking her to come live with her overseas in their ancestral Spanish Castle, la Sombra, Estela agrees. The castle is a gothic, haunted, and mysterious place made only more mysterious when Estela's investigation into her parent's death becomes linked to their past... and a mysterious silver-eyed boy who drinks blood and talks about being trapped in the castle appears. His name is Sebastian and he cannot appear during the day. Sebastian first assumes that Estela is the witch who trapped him but when he realizes she has no idea what he is talking about they reluctantly agree to work together to find the answers into why they are both connected to the house. Yet as they spend more time together a romance begins to bloom... but Estela's family has many more dark secrets than she could have ever imagined and finding the answers to her parents death as well as other family members relationship to her will lead her into a world she never knew... and will ask her if she even wants to know the answers. This was definitely a fun dark gothic romance to read with a touch of haunted house/vampire romance. I love the constant twist and turns in the story and no matter what happened Estela kept digging and trying to find out what happened. Estela was a strong protagonist to read about and she never gave up. I also enjoyed the romance between Sebastian and Estela and how she brought out the best in him while also understood that he would kill for her and that he would do anything to be with her and protect her. It's a great read and one I'd highly recommend for spooky season!

Very unique challenge for a playlist! Here's my best attempt with this! ^^

Hi!! Do u have any recs for someone who knows practically nothing abt classical music? I've been studying music theory and I feel it's a good genre to learn from :)
sure thing! however, i just want to talk about two things beforehand.
first, classical music differs from other genres of music in that the recording matters. this is because different performers have different interpretations of the music, among other reasons. for this purpose, i have provided my recommendations for recordings with the pieces ill be listing, however i strongly encourage you to find what you like the most.
the second thing i want to talk about is basically me getting into semantics. there are a few different eras of classical music, and they are all stylistically different. the main eras are the baroque era (~1600-1750), the classical era (~1750-1830), the romantic era (~1830-1920), and post-romantic/contemporary classical (~1920-present). i just want to point this out because the stylistic contrast between these eras is quite pronounced, and will help explain some things.
and with my ramblings out of the way, here are my recs!
Baroque:
Antonio Vivaldi - La Folia (Op. 1 No. 12) (Il Giardino Armonico [ensemble])
Johann Sebastian Bach - The Art Of Fugue (BWV 1080) (Joanna MacGregor [pfte.])
Classical
Ludwig Van Beethoven - Symphony No. 3 "Eroica" (Op. 55) (Herbert von Karajan [cond.] w/ Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra)
Ludwig Van Beethoven - Die Große Fuge (Op. 133) (Takács Quartet [str.qt.]) *
Romantic
Ferrucio Busoni - Piano Concerto in C Major (Op. 39) (Marc-André Hamelin [pfte.], Osmo Vänskä [cond.] w/ Lahti Symphony Orchestra) * ***
Franz Liszt - Totentanz (S. 126i) (Steven Mayer [pfte.], Tamás Vásáry [cond.] w/ London Symphony Orchestra)
Moritz Moszkowski - Piano Concerto in E Major (Op. 59) (Markus Pawlik [pfte.], Antoni Wit [cond.] w/ Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra)
Post-Romantic/Contemporary Classical
Igor Stravinsky - The Rite of Spring (Leonard Bernstein [cond.] w/ New York Philharmonic Orchestra) * **
Dmitri Shostakovich - Symphony No. 5 (Op. 47) (Yevgeny Mravinsky [cond.] w/ Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra) **
Dmitri Shostakovich - String Quartet No. 9 (Op. 117) (Fitzwilliam Quartet [str.qt.]
Alfred Schnittke - Concerto Grosso No. 1 (Gidon Kremer [vln.], Tatiana Grindenko [vln.], Heinrich Schiff [cond.] w/ Chamber Orchestra of Europe) *
Alberto Ginastera - Piano Sonata No. 1 (Terence Judd [pfte.]) *
Maurice Ravel - Introduction and Allegro, for Harp, Flute, Clarinet, and String Quartet (Skaila Kanga [hrp.], Academy of St. Martin in the fields)
* - this piece is fuckin SPICY. you have been warned.
** - if you're interesting in music history you should look up the backgrounds surrounding these ones
*** - the recording quality is shit
so yeah. i prefer more modern music so i put quite a few more modern works on the list than most people would.
anyways, happy listening!

[ad_1] According to the National Hurricane Centre, Hurricane Milton made landfall on Wednesday night as a “dangerous Category 3” storm near Siesta Key, on Florida’s central west coast. Siesta Key is a barrier island located just south of Sarasota. Milton had sustained winds of 120 mph at landfall. However, its strength diminished as it moved inland. The hurricane centre asked people living in the Tampa and St Petersburg areas to shelter in place as “extremely dangerous hurricane-force winds” were spreading through the area. After landfall, Milton will continue across Florida while rapidly weakening after losing the fuel of the warm Gulf waters. However, it still maintains its hurricane status. Milton will exit the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday and transition into a tropical storm. CBS News reported, citing GasBuddy, that as of Wednesday morning, a little over 23 percent of Florida gas stations were without fuel, including more than 59 percent in the area around Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg. Those numbers had risen since Tuesday night. Earlier, the National Weather Service in Miami observed at least four twisters, including a “multi-vortex tornado,” as meteorologists said storm surges were starting to arrive along the southwestern Florida coast. Speaking to CBS News, Jeff Masters, a scientist who formerly worked with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s hurricane hunters, said, “Some of the biggest catastrophes in hurricane history were from weakening storms,” Masters said. “Katrina was weakening as it approached the shore and caused USD 190 billion in damage. The prediction was a few feet lower than mentioned in earlier forecasts, which initially suggested Tampa could see surges up to 15 feet. Tornado warnings were issued for various cities, and hurricane and storm surge warnings were already in place for many places. #BREAKING A devastating force hit Florida.
