Into the Spider-Verse Finale: Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse Review (Comissioned by WeirdKev27)
Tumblr media
In Memory of John Romita Senior 1930-2023
Let's do this one last time. I"m Jacob Mattingly, and for the past few months, i've been reviewing the first apperances of spider-men. I've seen them enjoy crackers and milk, knock themselves out on furnaces, drum to deal with their pent up angst, rage, get powers from a spooky god while buck naked, and crumple a pipe like paper in their hand. It's been a long, loving ride into comics that not only got my comics reviewing mojo back but allowed me to share one of my faviorite franchises with you fine folks, many of whom don't usually read comics.
So we've come to the end of this retrospective, a bit later thanks to all the chaos of me using, but appropriatley as the final review i'm doing from the only home i've ever known. After 561 reviews here, it's time to say goodbye and given this is both one of the best projects i've done in my career and one where i've finally started editing better, it feels like the note to go out on.
This review has also been super intemidating to start. I'm an animation and comics nerd.. and Into is easily one of the best animated films AND best superhero films ever. It's also MASSIVELY influental, something I didn't see coming when I walked out of the theater, but really should've and we're now starting to see in earnest now the production cycle has had enough time to catch up to this film being a MONSTER hit. From modern masterworks like Mitchells Vs the Machines and Puss In Boots: The Last Wish to upcoming possible greats like TMNT: Mutant Mayhem, it's very clear studios are now far more likely to break from the standard CG styles and do something fresh, and audiences fucking love it. I hadn't realized till this film how much you could play with animation, from the concept of ones and twos to making a comic book movie look like a comic book. Any time I paused while watching this it felt like looking at a panel. The art here is gorgeous and the script matches it. So the question was both what would I have to say about the film and would I be able to live up to it? The only way to find out. is to take the leap. So join me under the cut as we swing into the spider-verse once again and see what makes this film so great 5 years later. Also as a heads up spoilers for the sequel will be present so if you somehow havne't seen it, you've been warned.
Let's Do This One More Time.... To get into why this film happened we have to get into Sony's treatment of spider-man. Said treatment has been a near neverending cycle of doing something right with it.. only to do something that shoots what they did right several times in the foot, stabs it and lights it on fire. Sam Rami makes two great spider-man films? Let's overly interfere with the last one and weigh it down with a lot of stuff it didn't really need. Amazing Spider-Man was decent with two tremendous leads in Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone but had some places to improve like peter being a skater boy she said see you later boy? Let's get complicated with it, overly focusing on Peter's Parents, including PLANNING TO HAVE PETER'S DAD SHOW UP ALIVE, a mysterious man in a trench coat from a tie in novel, and make harry osborn into this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's hard to decide which is worse. I mean their both worse than that time Harry Got a Mustache in College
Tumblr media
A very high bar no doubt, but it's hard to decide if modern pale emo kid or GNEEE GNEEE I'M THE GREEN GOBLIN GNEEE GNEE was worse. Though I think we all can agree sony deciding "You know this pathetic weirdo we just had kill one of our most popular characters? LET'S GIVE HIM A MOVIE" is just.. one of the most baffling decisions they've made. Popular Anti-Hero with his own history, rogues and dynamic outside of spider-man Venom makes us an unexpected hit? Let's give him a sequel.. which was actually logical. So naturally they also decide "let's make OTHER spider-man villians and anti heroes into their own movies" I mean who DOSEN'T want a kraven movie?.... me.. me don't want that. I want Kraven IN a movie, but why. And the less said about morbius that dosen't involve Matt Smith giving one hell of a performance or weirdly dancing to show off his impressive abs the better.
youtube
Why wasn't the film just... Matt Smith as a more villianous version of morbius? A riddle for the ages. The point is sony has a GOLDEN franchise.. but often has no idea what to do with it. It's why when this film was pitched they were trying badly to find something to do with it, hence Venom. So since they had an animation division that while not terrible only really had one franchise of note, head of spider-man stuff Amy Pascal went to two of the men who'd made one of the most succesful animated films of the time and who were on a high point in their career and asked what they would do. These men.. were Christopher Lord and Phil Miller. The two had had a rocky start in their careers, show running the cult hit Clone High, which while well loved to the point we finally got a new season this year that was pretty dang good, wasn't exactly a big hit. Eventually though the two broke out with 21 Jump Street, a film no one had a ton of faith in hearing about it, myself included. The film was a comedy reboot of the old series, lampooning the whole premise and lamp shading the hell out of everything from this being a reboot, to our heroes not remotely passing for high schoolers, to high school drama itself, and not only revived Lord, Miller and Stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill's careers. This naturally got a sequel, which was not only even better and more meta, cumulating in a hell of an ending lampshading the idea of this being a franchise, we also got one of the funniest scenes in the history of film. And yes that's a hill i'm wiling to die on.
youtube
And even THAT woudn't be it as the two would go on to make the Lego Movie, a film that was both stylistically brilliant, hilarious and used the property brilliantly AND followed that up with The Lego Batman Movie. The two had a clear talent for taking a property, doing something fresh with it while honroing what worked so they were a no brainer to ask to do this. As for why would they.... IT'S SPIDER-MAN. If I got offered to make a movie about spider-man i'd do it. Who wouldn't?
Ironically though while Miller and Lord had the creative vision, something even I didn't know till recently is that they didnt' direct the film. In fact out of them only Lord wrote the film, co writing it with Rodney Rothman, who also co-wrote 22 Jump Street which as established above, is quality as hell. Rothman's Resume up to Jumpstreet isn't really anything huge, having done writing stints on underclared, the short lived ups animated sitcom Game Over, and having been a writer on Letterman, the last of which i'm mostly noting because he proudly revealed he was the one Chris Farley threw in a dumpster, but he clearly just needed more of a shot as both films he's co-written prove.
He also wasn't flying solo in direction, with his co directors, while also inexperinced in directing for the most part, having far more animation experince. First up is bob perschetti, who did the story for the original puss in boots and a smaller film called the little prince, and did tons of storyboard work for dreamworks, having worked on Shrek 2, Monsters Vs Aliens, Flushed Away and Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which I previously covered. He was also an inbetweener on a smorgasboard of disney films.
Finally we have Peter Ramsey, the only one to have directed a theatrical film before this with Rise of the Guardians, and was a storyboard artist on a list of flims so massive and prestigous i'm just going to let this wikipedia screencap speak for itself.
Tumblr media
Yeahhhh. See I point out the lack of direction credintials not to shame them, sometimes it can take decades before you get your shot, but more because it's so utterly shocking that as experinced as these guys are only one of them had directed before this. The film is gorgeous and groundbreaking.. and makes it that much more baffling it took this long for these three guys to get such a big , well deserved shot and given all have projects going on right now, I couldn't be happier.
So the production itself seemed to go smoothly for the most part. The only exceptions were Sony nixing a cameo from tom holland (as they found it confusing) and something massive: one year out from the film being released Lord and Miller felt the film wasn't working and thus decided to rewrite it. This itself dosen't seem too bad, a year seems like a lot of time... but in animation terms.. that's hardly anything and also heavily involved taking what they already had and figuring out how to recontextualize it. If you couldn't tell from going that far, the duo were fans, having read spider-man comics and done research for it, picking thier spider-men carefully. The results.. well the results are nothing short of amazing, spectacular or peter parker.
Taking the Leap: As I mentioned earlier Spider-verse.. changed film animation. This isn't hyperbole either; if you look at the bulk of this year's animated films their all more stylistic with many, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem and Nimona in paticular, using a combo of 2d and 3d animation and it stretches into last year two with The Bad Guys and Puss in Boots and in 2020 with Sony's own Mitchell's Vs the Machines. More studios are experimenting with their style and trying something diffrent and what's more remarkable is that.. they aren't just 1:1 copying spiderverse. Many have taken it's sketchy style sure , but no one's doing it the exact same way: Spider-Verse often resembles a comic book, TMNT a sketch book and nimona something else entirely. Each is drawn and rendered.. but each in a way all it's own.
It's not to say films before this didn't have their own style: as my friend Kammie pointed out in a long conversation about animation recently, Dreamworks has always had it's distinct character models and before this The Peanut Movie (one of my faviorite cg animated films ever) and Rango both tried to play with it. Peanuts in paticular also took a stab at emulating the comics it's based on. The problem was while both films were gorgeous.. neither really took off. Peantus was a modest success, but the Schultz family had no interest in a sequel, while Rango didn't really land at the box office. And when something fails hollywood tends to blame the work itself and not circumstance or
Tumblr media
Spider-Verse broke that by not only being a mainstream hit but one that really worked the animation as hard as it could. It gets .. incredibly technical and even I wasn't aware of how much till going to tv tropes but simply: most animation is done on ones or twos. Ones means a unique image every frame, twos means a unique image every other frame. You usally use one or the other. Spider-Man.. does BOTH, which is as exausting as it sounds, using 2s on the characters and 1's on the character work to give it a more dynamic vision, and shaking it up when needed, such as having miles on ones for most of the film , the rest of the spider people on twos, and then miles on twos after the what's up danger scene. It's a LOT of dedication and that's not even getting to how every spider-person has a slightly diffrent animation style. The results are eye candy in it's purest form: every pause is a panel, every action catches your eye, everything works. And the panel part is paticuarlly notable as the crew did their damndest to make this LOOK like a comic in motion. It's something that , as many great comic book movies and superhero films as we've had.. you simply cannot do in live action. So if it's so obvious why did it take till 2018 to do?
Tumblr media
It's likely other suprehero animated films had the idea.. but there was no way in hell they were getting the budget to do it. And if you've seen say the incredibles, mask of the phantasm of megamind, those budgets are already pretty damn vast for their times. Animation is a great medium.. but when it comes to film... the big studios get complacient really fast. Animated Films are EXPENSIVE and a huge swing like this is a radioactive spider-risk. It's why up until spider-verse most studios have stuck to their guns: Disney and Pixar have ocasoinal style shifts but you can genuinely tell when a film's by either stuido, Illumination basks in it's cheap but effective house style, and Warner.. well warner just dosen't give a shit in general why would it here. Dreamworks is the only one that really shook up styles and even then until this year they didn't shake up how they aniamted. After all if it works.. why fix it. And before anyone asks, no i'm not saying "ALL THESE OMVIES ARE TERRIBLE FUCK THEM AMIRITE". I'm saying that the industry got complacent and it's something I, an animation critic, didn't even realize till spider-verse's effects started being felt. Animation really did change because this one film took a leap and it's only for the better: Mutant Mayhem looks to be the best tmnt adaptatoin ever, a VERY high bar from an obessive tmnt fan like me, Nimona looks awesome, i've heard good things abotu Ruby Gilman from Kammie, and Puss In Boots was fucking magic. And while they all likely woud've ben good regardless, this leap has really changed things and hopefully will continue to from here on out as more and more new films catch up lead time wise. To quote Kammie
"The new giants of major western movie animation are Sony and Dreamworks, they're willing to innovate and take risks where most other studios falter and resort to retreading old territory or using stock plots. Do they still innovate technicalogically? Yes. Does that matter when you make movies that only look slightly more realistic than the last one you did? No. We don't go to animation for realism, we go to it for escapism, to see worlds that are utterly impossible and larger-than-life characters, find places that we can only visit in our dreams, to see sheer spectacle that's not possible in live action. Animation more than anything is only limited by technology, and it's a testament to it that most live action films have CGI, a form of animation, involved in making them what they are."
But animation is only half of it. How's the story? Good: But that's pretty obvious so let's go into our characters and what not shall we?
Miles Morales: Anyone Can Wear the Mask
So first up danger is our hero.. well one of many but Miles is our focus and was a perfect choice for it: his arc in the comics is a coming of age story in the vein of the original and ultimate spider-men (the latter being miles predecessor), and really explores what it means to be spider-man: in the comics Miles rejects the idea outright until peter dies.. and he realizes with great power comes great responsiblity and that he can be what peter was.. and then has to settle into the harsh realities of being spidey as well as the good it brings. Bringing a character like that into a story with a bunch of other spider-man all showing what it could mean with diffrent people was genius. The film also nicely tweaks things to make an already good story better. The first is miles age: in the comics he's currently 16-17.. but started out as a 13 year old. The idea worked, both to seperate it from the 16 year old peter he replaced and to make the danger that much more horrifying as it's happening to a much younger person and make some doubts about him doing it more understandable, but it works better to have miles as a teen here, to have him grown up just enough to understand a lot.. but still question who he is. It also allows the nice parallel of getting his powers around the same age as peter.
Another is that in the comics while Miles gets into brooklyn visions by lottery.. what that means for him really isn't focused on. It's hard, but he adjusts to it fairly well and the issue is more having to spider-man from a heavily montired private dormintory. Into instead explores what it would really mean for a kid from a working class family having to leave all the people he knew and grew up with to go to a fancy prep school where most of his classmates ignore him at best. In the comics Miles at least had his best friend going with him: here's he's just alone in an unfamiliar place he badly wants to leave.
I also like that his getting into the school isn't ALL luck. While he literally won the lottery, and yes they really do lottery children's chances for a better future and yes it's fucked up, his mom makes note of him passing the entrance exam and while trying to flunk out delbieratley, his teacher notes he got an exact zero... and then gives him a 100 as to get the answers THAT wrong.. you have to know all of them. Miles is a smart kid.. but he just hates where he is because he's alone. It's not helped by his.. let's say complicated relationship with his dad. Jefferson.. is not the most likeable guy. He's more than the comics where he's an out and out anti-mutant racist douchebag who outright abandons his son when he finds out (he DOES get better, but it's still a dick move), but he's still a domenering presence: when Miles brings up wanting to leave the school Jefferson is admant on him staying. He refuses to really.. empthaize with his son, being mad at his habit of putting up nametags, not really supporting his grafiti art (another deft addition to the character It ruly love), and not really getting him. Jefferson MEANS well: he wants miles to have a life jeff didn't. Like in the comics i'ts heavily implied Jeff didn't really start with anything nor did he or Aaron have the best life, having to steal to survive. He grew past it while Aaron embraced the criminal life style, but it's clear Jefferson WANTS his son to do better.. but is so stubborn and controlling he can't see that miles is miserable and that he needs to stop putting his foot down and start actually listening. The school WILL be good for miles in the long run.. but it's hard for him to see that without anyone helping him. It's easy to see WHY Miles prefers his uncle. Aaron davis isn't the best person, and we'll get to that.. b ut it's clear he loves his nephew and encourages him in school. It's just Aaron also takes the time to LISTEN, to try and gently push miles, asking him what he actually likes about the schol, encouraging him to make a move on his crush. Grnated the shoulder touch is a very awkward move no one should try and I never would, seriously don't touch a woman without their permission folks, but he means well with it. He also wants better for Miles.. he just respects miles more as a person. And with Miles feeling like one person but being shoved in another direction... being spider-man was the last thing he needed. Something I like about Miles as a character both here and in the comics.. is that being spider-man DOSEN'T make his life better at first. See even if most spider-men eventually get the lowered boom of someone they love dying, most get to at least enjoy it first. Looking back at the origins, Peter getting his powers takes a young nerd with no power and gives him all of it, Spider-Ham got a surrogate mom and teh power to crumple other peoples pipes like paper in his hand, while NOir's origin was.. less than ideal
Tumblr media
He still got the power to fight back against a corrupt world, and Gwen much like peter got a power high. Miles.. never gets that in either version. In the comics he's utterly terrified and here he not only gets that.. but also gets humilated: trying the touch fails..as it likely woul'dve anyway, and instead messes up gwen's hair in the short run and makes it kick ass in the long run, sends him running in a panic from school security, and gets him stuck to about 80 dozen things. It shows the part most spidey origins and a chunk of superhero origins skip: that while getting powers is fun.. the learning curve usually sucks. Instead of the power high.. miles is just terrified by what he is and what he must do now and has no idea what he's doing. While most spider-man get the good of it first and have to learn the harsh realities of being a superhero later, usually with some horrific death, miles is one who from the get go realized with great powers comes a spinerett load of trauma. It's something the next film will deconstruct, but for now it's simply stripping that back and showing that while anyone can be spider-man.. it's not exactly a fun job as it is on paper.
So Miles goes to try find his uncle and when that fails, goes to the place he got bit by the spider..
Tumblr media
Because he gets thrown into a supervillian battle, meets the real spider-man, and gets a hard truth from Peter Peter: You're like me. Miles: I don't want to be. Peter: I don't think you have a choice, kiddo.
It's not Blonde Peter being harsh or cruel.. he's just honest. You can try running away from powers, trying to live a normal life.. but eventually it catches up with you. Peter's tried to quit multiple times.. but it dosen't stick because great power, great responsibility. He can try and give up, leave it to other guys.. but at the end of the day having this gift means using it wisely.. and in miles case having it also makes him a target. And Miles ALMOST gets a mentor.. but then peter dies and gruffly tells Miles "You gotta save the world now slugger". Oh and not two seconds later he nearly dies getting chased by a superman. And he wasn't even supposed to be here today. Honestly I didn't even realize till I sat down to write this but the first half hour or so of the film.. is pretty bleak for miles. He gets power he dosen't want, has to watch the world's greatest hero die, and is left in charge of a major task that someone with a decades more experince died trying to do. Oh and he was told to keep it secret and can't tell those he loves. His life is just one hard long cruel cosmic joke.. and the sequel makes it even worse given we now know the spider wasn't even supposed to bite him and he gets BLAMED for watching someone die. Also just to get this out of the way now, while I was calling bullshit on Miguels claims Miles was responsible for Peter's death in the theater, I did watch the scene carefully just to throughly debunk this. And shockity shock... Peter would've died whether miles was there or not. The goblin suckers him slightly due to miles.. but it's nothing that really slows him down or injures him. What ultimately leaves peter at deaths door and weak enough for the kingpin to do his finisher on the poor guy is getting ganged up on by Prowler and Goblin, and then slammed into the collider. Aaron would've been there, Norman would've been there.. this all was supposed to happen, as tragic as it was. Fate changed by Miles getting bit.. but it changed this world at least for the better as it'd probably be gone along with 5 more spiderpeople and incalculable innocents. So in conclusion: eat a dick miguel, let's move on.
So with that Miles is left shattered and wonders home.. and Jefferson is warm and supportive and just kidding: he tells miles he made a commitment, rio has to give him a look like "come on" and when asked if he hates spider-man, while his child is clearly shaken by SOMETHING, his reponse is "well yeah".
Tumblr media
And with the power of hindsight this .. really underlines why Miles has confidence issues the rest of the film. Why he struggles with his powers: he was already feeling out of place in his new school and having most of what makes him who he is questioned by his dad, and then he goes through spider-puberty and watches the world's greatest hero get body slammed into a science machine, gets yelled at by said hero that
Tumblr media
Watches said hero get mob executioned by a villian he now has to stop, and then gets chased by his top enforcer while spooky but dope as fuck music played. It's a miracle Miles hasn't had a full on nervous breakdown after all this, let alone gets up, and decides he HAS to press on, visiting the memorial and realizing that no one else is going to come do this.. I mean they will but what makes it work is he dosen't know that yet. All miles knows is the one thing keeping the city from falling apart is gone, and he's the only one who can do this and as rightfully scared and afraid and alone the poor boy is... he has to try. He may not be quite ready to take the leap.. but he's ready to put a foot off the roof.
While miles has plenty of deadly and superior foes to fight.. his ultimate enemy is himself...
Tumblr media
.... metaphorically this movie. Miles has the heart of a hero.. but is so scared by being one and so sure he CAN'T do it that it's a self fufilling prophecy. It's something expertly shown in how his powers work: he can't get his hands to stick or unstick on queue or his camo to work unless he needs it to flee. His powers are acting on his panic and anxiety. As peter points out with the sticking, it only lets go when you relax and Miles can't relax, he can't relax cuz he's a boinger.. and because you know, he's in a VERY stressful situation. Most spider-men at least get a few simple crooks before they get to the supervillians. Miles has to fight the sinister six on his first day. I'ts easy to see why he can't trust himself: if a peter ten years deep in can't do it, how can he? It's telling the one time pre-what's up danger miles really masters his abilities fully is with web swinging, when he just has a chance to relax and learn.
It's not helped by Miles essentially seeing the ghosts of his future right in front of him: Through Peter Prime, he's seen he can die easily. Through peter b. he sees even if he dosen't being spider-man might destroy his personal life. and through gwen he's seen how he could grow isolated and alone through tragedy. He sees his possible future in two people he grows to love, one platonically one nto so much both who we'll get to, and it scares him. It doesn't help Peter. B is the ONLY spider person willing to give him a chance: while Gwen likes him, she thinks he's not ready and the others all expect him to be spider-man NOW dammit, when all of them had a much less steep learning curve. Except Peni, her learning curve was basically "Suprise we released the spider your dad made into this room! Enjoy being radioactive!"
Into The Spider-Verse is ultimately a film about how others expectations of you can eat you alive.. and the only way to really escape that.. is to be yourself. Not to IGNORE that other people exist or be a callous jackass, but to trust in yourself you'll make the right call. To trust you to do the right thing when things are their darkest.
And it's ironic that what finally gets him to have faith in himself.. is the person who seemed to have the least faith in him. In the end the person who enrcourages miles is Jefferson. While miles has been having his arc.. Jeff has had his own, as miles has been mia since meeting peter. b, and then found his brother dead.. and blamed miles as spider-man for it. Thankfully this gets cleared up enough, but it clearly rattled Jeff enough to realize that holding fast and trying to be constantly authortive and unbending.. isn't working and never has. It's only by opening up does he not only finally close the gap with his son, even if that comes AFTER all this because you know, webbed up mouth and all, but makes miles finally have some confidence in himself. And the speeech itself is just.. beautiful.
Jefferson Davis : Look, sometimes... people drift apart, Miles. And I don't want that to happen to us, okay? Look, I know I don't always do what you need me to do or say what you need me to say, but I... I see this... this spark in you, it's amazing, it's why I push you. But it's yours, and whatever you choose to do with it, you'll be great.
I'll also give Brian Tyree Henry credit as he's just perfect in the role, being a hardass.. but in a way that makes it clear he's not 100% dick and here him opening up.. is beautiful. And it's really what miles needed: While Peter. B wasn't a TERRIBLE mentor, trying his best to encourage miles, what miles ultimately needed was the simplest message: be yourself. Which yes is INCREDIBLY common in animated media. But it's done well here. It also makes me wish the cut line with peter used in the trailers was used here as it really gets to the heart of the film: Don't do it like me, do it like you. Miles problem was that he tried too hard to be what others wanted and that people pushed him to hard to be somethign else, wether that meant instantlly accepting a hard situation in his new school from his dad or instantly fitting the role as spider-man from the other spider-people. it's only when he's told just.. do it his way that he finally can accept it.. and can finally CONTROL it. What I like is that while in a lot of other superhero films, miles suddenly being able to control his powers would be an asspull .. here it's CAREFULLY set up: Miles coudlnt' really control them because he was scared. It's once he lets go of his fear of death, fear of failure, and fear of himself.. that he can take a leap of faith. His ascendency to spider-man is also one of the best sequences in any animated movie. Not taking notes on that. It just is.
youtube
Every fucking second of this is perfect. "What's Up Danger" itself is dope as fuck, and perfectly fits the song. Black Caviar's beat is pure magic and Blackways lyrics perfectly fit the confidence Miles finally has. Their a bit rougher than him but fit who he is NOW: he is the amazing, spectacular, the ULTIMATE spider-man. After a whole film of doubting himself, not knowing where to go or what to do or if he can do this... HE CAN. And he WILL. There's so many great moments: him spraypainting the costume, taking one of peter's looks and making it is his own with his own talent and passion, the now iconic upside down falling shot that graced every trailer, and him swinging and wall jumping through new york, finally embracing his power... all capped with him lifting the mask, panting in exaustion... and then smiling. He's got this.
The insuing big damn heroes during the brawl with the sinister six is great. He shows up invisible, easily turns the table on liv and shows up, and it's also heartwarming how rather than tell him to go home or any other such nonsense.. everyone is HAPPY he's here. They didn't put him back because they didn't like him.. they kept him back because they didn't want him to die stupidly. NOw he CAN fight and has the confidence and skill to.. their happy to have him.
I also like how while all the spider-people ge ttheir moments and we get one hell of a three on one battle between doc ock , miles, peter and gwen, the final fight, the true final test.. is miles alone. Everyone gets to shine as the villians get whittled down to one.. but ultimately the final battle only works if it's miles alone: one final test as spider-man: Miles vs Fisk. The All-New All-Diffrent Spider-Man vs the man who murdered the original. The Kingpin of Crime Vs your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man. It's a truly harrowing fight, one where Miles is often overwhelmed, but does what all spider-men do: get back, keep fighting. Do everything he can. With jeffersons support one last time miles goes from a scared child.. to catching this thief just like a fly.. complete with bug zapper. The touch of using the.. well shoulder touch is fucking amazing, hilaroius, heartwrenching.. and awesome. The man who killed his uncle, who nearly destroyed new york is down. The universe is saved... all thanks to brooklyn's own friendly neighborhood spider-man. Miles ends the film sure of himself, happy and with his father accepting him. He misses everyone.. but he'll see them again. He just might come to regret it but hey.. that's for next time.
As a quick epilogue, I ALMOST forgot to mention but Shamiek Moore is fucking perfect in the role. While Donald Glover would've been a great fit, Moore brings a youthful energy that perfectly fits the character. Moore handles the characters journey, the humor, and the heartbreak all beautifully.
Peter B. Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Mess
While this film is focused on the new kid on the webs, Lord and Miller still decided to include the Spider-Man everyone was familiar with. In fact.. they lean INTO how familiar we are to play with peter as a character. When they give their stories for the comics brilliant origin sequences, they both know to just.. gloss over most of the stuff we're familiar with.. and to basically apologize for the emo peter dance. Lord and MIller clevelry use the rami films as a refrence point. Then they do something ENTIRELY new in terms of adapting peter at this point: this peter.. has been at this for a while. It's something Insomniac would also use for their universe and honestly.. is quitely brilliant. In the comics.. peter HAS been at this for about a decade.. exactly how long has been kept vauge, but he's always pushing 30. Most adaptations though want to start with peter fairly early in his career: while some cartoons like Ultimate, Spectacular or Animated Series start with peter mid career, it's still fairly early and before he faces most of his arch enemies. It also makes sense: after all if your making a spider-man universe from scratch, why would you start with him already knowing how to fight these guys? The comics have the advantage of years of continuity, so writers can do what they want with the bad guys basically. But since a new continuintiy means you can do the latter from the top, why would you start in the middle of your story? It CAN work as shown here and with , while I sadly can't play them because no ps4 or 5, the insomniac games, but with the latter it works to the games advantage to have you play a peter whose already a kicker of ass first class.
Here though instead it's used for something even the comics often have their hands tied from doing: to show just how TIRED spider-man would be after a decade of this. While Blonde Peter is great at the job, has a loving aunt, and an adoring wife... he's still so very tired. He says so when fighting Prowler. It's clear the heir of "I can always do this, i'm spider-man" is as much a coping mechanism as it is determination. It explores the idea that peter's drive to keep going, to do the imposisble would wear him down eventually.. and given the crap he has to go through in the comics because writers think there needs to be added DRAMA, you can't blame him. Peter. B shows where this leads.. a peter who has 80 tons of broken bones, stopped taking care of himself, and is slowly falling apart after Aunt May's death, cumilating in pushing MJ away after she wanted kids.. and he was scared of it. Which given what his life is like is actually understandable. It's also a type of fear the comics have only been able to explore in AU's: editors have been dicks about the idea of peter having kids, and the one time he seriously was about ot have one before it was kidnapped, he was retired.. then it got kidnapped and disappeared because clone saga. Here we see the fear he'd have.. and peter sabotaging his own life as MJ seems relcutant as he is to divorce and the peter left in the aftermath is crying in a bathtub in his full costume
Tumblr media
This is a peter who ONLY has being spider-man and we see how deeply unhealthy that is. Part of what makes Peter Parker so great, what's kept spider-man enduring.. is relatablity. Peter struggles with the same stuff most of us do: holding down a job, crappy bosses, relationship issues, juggling family with your life, friendships getting complicated... it's the ballancing act of having a regular life and also punching the kangaroo in the face while he's at it that makes spider-man compelling and it's finding new ways to do that, from having peter teach at his old high school to having him actually get a science job, that makes this character endure. Here though.. it's just Spider-Man and we see how unhealthy that is: May is dead, he pushed MJ and likely anyone else in his life away... peter only has being spider-man left, and action can be a reward but it can't give you a fulfilling life. This is a peter whose just going through the motions and badly broken. It's very telling that when Miles tries to use "With Great Power Comes Great Responsiblity" , the HEART of what spider-man, any spider-man, woman or ham, is, Peter responds with a very harsh "DON'T finish that sentence. I'm so tired of people using that". He's a peter whose so far to the edge he's willing to leave miles world to die just to get back to a life that's deeply miserable. In most cases spider-man would swing at the right thing but Peter B is just so very tired he just wants to go home.
But he's still spider-man.. and eventually realizes as much as he wants to.. he can't leave miles there and he can't leave this world to die. The movie is also good in not letting peter dangle off the edge of being absolutely awful too long. He refuses to save the world at first.. but it's clear Miles gets to him right away. He's still a mess.. but he's also Spider-Man. He's also peter parker. And May raised him better. The relationship between Peter B and Miles.. is fantastically done, with Miles slowly opening up his new mentor and Peter B slowly rediscovering what he actually liked about the job... and that maybe he CAN be a dad and spider-man. We see his humor slowly come back, him swatting the cape away from miles, gleefully pointing out what to do. He's still not the BEST teacher, wanting miles to just wait.. but when miles has to come along, he's grumpy for a few seconds then roles with it. We start with Peter. B seeing how worn down he is...but here we see all the experince and skill of his blonde counterpart. He's still the science nerd who can memorize a complicated password and can't grasp that miles can't. He's still a mess, trying to flirt with what turns otu to be his aunt's ex.. and also doc ock, but we see a subtle change, cumilating in the heartwarming scene of him and miles swinging together. peter may be a mild dick and a human disaster.. but he's a good man. By the time all the spider-people are together and doubting miles.. peter. b is the only one who sees how much this quest means to hte boy and is advocating for him. To them Miles is in over his head.. but Peter sees the spark in miles Jefferson does. He sees a kid who was thrown in the deep of this and the last thing MIles need is 80 people telling him he can't do it. It's likely that, just like Blonde Peter, Peter. B sees the pain and confusion that comes from starting as spider-man clear as day and if he can help miles avoid that, he will. Jake Johnson is phenominal in this role, helping show the depth behind this kind of peter. It best shows after the house fight: While Peter is trying to get Miles to stay behind and is willing to die to save his world... he's doing it for MOSTLY noble reasons. Miles really WASN'T ready and as Peter pointed out, he needed to be ready to just take a leap of faith. He's gone from wanting to abandon miles because he dosen't care.. to leaving him behind because he dosen't want his surrogate son to die horribly trying to fufill a promise he's not ready for. Granted like I said it's mostly noble: its very clear Peter. B is also doing this.. because he feels himself expendible. He has nothing to go back to, the others do. Miles has more to live for. If he dies staying here... what's he leaving behind? It's what makes his ending so rewarding: He sees miles finally take that leap and as I mentioned before he's nothing but happy Miles finally has got it and fights alongside his new son, realizing maybe he does want kids. He still plans to stay behind.. and the student becomes the teacher, with Miles pointing out he can't.. things with MJ aren't broken.. he still has time to make it right. He still has something to live for. It's hard.. but so was becoming spider-man for miles. If Peter. B is ready to die for this dimension.. he can live for MJ and for his protege. So he ends the film making up with her with Mj's smile showing she welcomes him back.. and as we'll see he really gets his happily ever after. But we'll get more on that next time.
Vault of Spiders
So now we've come to the other spider-people. First up our most prominent, Gwen, whose mostly taken 1:1 from the comics: She became Spider-Woman, then learned the great power great responsiblity lesson the hard way when she fought the lizard.. and he died revealing peter parker, her best friend who just wanted to be like her, leaving her alone. There's more to it, but that's best left for the next film when we get her origin in full. Gwen is done well here: the punk haircut fits her perfectly and Hailee Steinfeld is unsurprisingly awesome as her and gets Gwen's loneliness, standoffishness, and badassery perfectly, and we see her slowly open up to miles, with her doubts coming off less as bein ga jerk and more as being worried for him. We also get some nice subtle bits: while she mentions her best friends.. only WE know her best friend was a peter, and that being surrounded by about 4 of him and having to talk to aunt may, who she's also close to in her dimension, is likely a LOT for the poor kid. She also gets some genuinely cute moments with miles, from their first meeting in class, to the disastrous touch (and the later great brick joke of "you don't get to like it"), to the bus scene). Orignally the two WERE suppposed to be a couple.. but i'm glad they left the more overt romance for the sequels, as the films packed enough as is and it gives it more build. It's clear there's an attraction there.. there just isn't time for it given the possible dimensional apocalypse. That's what sequels are for.
That said I do think had they focused on just three spider-persons we might of had more of an arc for Gwen... instead we get a lot of personality but not who she is. I'd be harder on this.. but to the crews and the next batch of directors credit, they realized this and in the next film, and likely extending into Beyond, she's the deutragonist. So it's hard to be on this when they realized what they had next go round. The other spider-people on the other hand.. feel like a massive wasted opportunity. Casting wise it's all pitch perfect: Nicholas Cage is perfet for a noir parody and is utterly hilarious, John Mulaney's everyman voice is perfect for spider-ham, helping emphasise how weird this is, and Peni's serious nature and anime stylings are something the beloved Kimiko Glenn gets down perfectly. I was so happy to see her in a movie this size. And adaptation wise.. 2/3 ain't bad. Spider-Ham is pitch perfect from the source and Peni, while having her anime stylings here focused on a bit more, still has her science background and driven nature. Noir Peter though.. yeah while he's not TERRIBLE on his own in terms of actually adapting the character... it's wince inducing. I don't mind not going 1:1 and given the limited screen time I don't mind playing into the noir nature for laughs. My issue is more that Noir's world is so insanely dark, THAT could've been played for laughs instead. I mean again THIS is how peter gets his powers there.
Tumblr media
Just have Nicholas cage casually rattle that off. I get not bringing up the rampant death but it just feels like a missed opprotunity to not really use anything from the actual comics other than the costume. The rubix cube joke is great. So you have three all time great performers.. but they don't get much to do. I was among the fans disapointed they weren't in the sequel, and only not as much as some others because I figured they were saving them for the sequel.. and after seeing the film and it's cliffhanger, that turned out to be EXACTLY it. It's a bummer they aren't in across but given how much it crammed into it's long runtime and how much it has left to go, and how the mystery of why noir and ham weren't with the society's whole creepy philosphy when their friends drank the kool aid is a neat hook.
They get great bits, Noir saying he has to burn his hand to feel something, Ham getting side eyed by the other two when he mentions he was a pig bitten by a spider.. which for those who didn't read the rest of the restrospective if your wondering ..
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
We also get a great drmatic bit. Originally in the scene where everyone sympathizes with Miles, Spider-ham made a stupid joke about his uncle frankfurter. it was funny.. but kinda wrecked the scene. So they instead switched it with one of the most heartbreaking lines in all of animation, which Mulaney NAILS.
Tumblr media
Just the devistaition on that pig's face. And i'm hoping we find out what the fuck the story was there in Beyond.. but i'm perfectly happy with not knowing. Because it makes it that much more devistating. We don't know what he lost. We just know he hurts and that the hardest thing about being a spider-man.. is you just can't save them all. So naturally ham got a spinoff, Caught in a Ham. Caught in a Ham.. is decent a theatrical style short that explains what ham was doing. It's.. fine.. the various villian puns are fun and it clearly takes a lot from warner, but the animation is ENTIRELY cheap, and the villian, dr crawdaddy is just... what. Seriously you have so many fun animal versions of spideys rogues and better new foes.. and this is what you go with. And no making fun of how lame he is dosen't work. That jokes been done a lot. You have to do it well and they really didn't. Dr Crawdaddy is bad but it's not hialriously bad. Caught in a hami s okay but it was a massive disapointment and Mulaney deserved better.
So now we have those who can spin a web any size and catch a theif just like flies covered, we have to talk about one of spider-man's most important aspects The Superior Foes of Spider-Man
Look spider-man is popular for a lot of reasons: a deep facinating character no matter whose wearing the mask, a varied, visually intresting and cool power set, the idea that anyone can be spider-man. All this is true. But one of the biggest.. is his Rogues gallery. Spider-Man easily has one of the best rogues galleries in all of superhero fiction, with only batman providing competition. Just off the top of my head you have Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, Doc Ock, Electro, Beetle, Boomerang, Scorpion, The Kingpin, Rhino, Hammerhead, Tombstone, Shocker, Vulture, Kraven, Mysterio, The Lizard, Stegron the Dinosaur Man, The Spot, The Gibbon, Mr Negative, The Enforcers, Mountain Man Marko, Chance, Venom, Carnage, Hypno Hustler, Rocket Racer, Sandman, The Tinkerer, The Prowler, Lady Electro, White Rabbit, Overdrive, Hydro Man, Chameleon, The Iguana, and of course his greatest enemy PAUL.
Tumblr media
Or Maybe it's Zeb wells. Who knows? The larger point is spider-man has a LARGE pool of villians to tap, so Lord and MIller's Solution: GRAB AS MANY AS POSSIBLE AND DO WHATEVER. Yeah while like i've said The Kingpin has a full sinister six going, even if sadly never 6 at once as one dies and he kills another, it still counts as their still all under him and just let me have this for once dammit. Seriously if it's not an ongoing cartoon, they will NOT give us the sinister six. Even far from home came as close as we've got and still didn't think maybe one more? LET ME HAVE A PROPER SINISTER SIX IN MY SPIDER-MAN MOVIE DAMMIT.
That said they really only focus on three of the six: the other villians in Fisk's posse are more there just to hit things and give us enough villians so every spider-man can have a turn. And given Spider-man has guys like the rhino that would fit the mold better I question why they went with Green Goblin and Tombstone. With the former i'll admit to being biased: Norman Osborn is one of my faviorite super villians and Harry is certainly somewhere on the list. One of the first spidey comics I read was Amazing Spider-Man #39, and it's followup #40, one of the best spidey comics of all time and with one of the best covers too
Tumblr media
This was boosted both by the first Rami film, where Dafoe does a truly amazing job, and the ultimate comics where Norman , while bulking up a bunch is a serious horrifying threat. Here.. h'es just a dummy dum dumb and I get it to a point, part of it is to emphasise the alternate nature of miles universe: in most the green goblin is spider-man's greatest threat, here he's just one of many and while a challenge, not his arch enemy or even in the running it seems. It just dosen't work for me. I'm fine with making some changes, but this one just didn't qutie work. He does look really impressive though and I do get this is likely a me thing and it dosen't really HURT the film, so while I may not like it a bunch I can't say it's as bad as some adaptation changes. I'ts no "Peter dosen't have change for choclate milk and gets thrown it by the robber who kills uncle ben" or making harry osborn into some sort of gneeing snot monster.. and that's bEFORE he takes the goblin drugs.
Tombstone also isn't handled the best, as he's fairly smart and chilling in the comics. I don't take it as personally but it's still iffy to take a black man and make him subservient to a white man. That never plays well. Hammerhead would've been a better choice and still been visually distinct. I
Finally we have Scorpion who I DO like, nicely meshing maximus gargan, the ultimate scorpion who simply had super strength and a scorpion tail styled chain, with the regular one, so now the tail is attached to hima nd baadss, but he's still mexican and still awesome and he gets a great fight with Peni and Porker.
That said while I have my quibbles.. the main three villians.. are fantastic and give me plenty to gush about. We'll start with the big guy. Like with the Green Goblin (and the Hobgoblin, who sadly still hasn't gotten a big movie role as of this review. Someday...), i'm a HUGE fan of the kingpin and he's one of my faviorite super villians. No question. Wilson Fisk is a truly amazing character with tons of layers, intimdating style and intresting dynamics with both spider-man and dardevil. From his first apperance under john romita to his latest crashing on Krakoa , he's a devious mastermind whose trained his body to perfection. Granted I grew up with Spider-Man TAS, where they cleverly made him big bad, so I had a good first intro, but most adaptations handle him well and what little iv'e seen of the mcu version in hawkeye (I still need to watch netflix daredevil) is fucknig magical. Denofrio is great.
Liev Schriber though.. might be the best. He gets Wilson perfect: He has his cocky attitude.. but also his cold detachment. He can brag about starting the collider one minute.. and casually tell his right hand man to "go kill that guy". He can joke.. but ther'es never a moment on screen when your not deeply worried about him being there. There's not a moment you don't get WHY this guy was strong enough, smart enough and nightmarish enough to finish spider-man. I also love the design taking from a comic by the legendary bill sienkiewicz of x-men fame
Tumblr media
It perfectly fits and while his proprotions are off.. it helps sell how diffrent he is from everything else. This man commands every room he's in and is a true giant, a looming reminder of blonde peter's death and the ultimate obstacle in our heroes way.
What I like though as while they easily could've just made Fisk evil and called it a day.. it's VERY clear how well the crew understood him.. as they also humanize him. Fisk isn't igniting the collider to make money selling multiversal hot dogs or something. This version lost his wife vanessa and son richard during a fight with spider-man: she saw what he really was and left... and they sadly died in a car crash. It's a great twist too: the comics have always had Vanessa, when she was alive, be the one thing that could pull fisk back from his crime... if only for so long. She never liked it , never accepted it and never wanted it. Richard was a grown man hwo hated it but then joined it then betrayed his dad and got killed.. it's a whole thing. Richard Fisk is a mess.
Fisk is at his core a man who just wants what he lost back but is so blinded by a combination of Trauma Goggles (a term kammie came up with) and his own ego. He can't accept that it was his fault a tragedy happened, that his wife had every right to run and that it was simply horrible, cruel timing that killed his wife. It's the horrible irony in all this: Wilson Fisk is a man who needs to control everything so badly he will rip time and space apart to get back what he lost.. but can't accept that there's NOTHING he can do to fix this, and that it was always his fault. It's who Wilson Fisk is and who he'll always be. It's most heartbreakingly shown when the same events play out again, just with a new vanessa and richard.. but he just can't accept HE'S the bad guy in all this and he drove his family away. In the end he's left with nothing, his empire crumbling, his family gone.. simply because he coudln't let go.
Now onto his right hand man, Aaron Davis, The Prowler. Like Kingpin... hang on.. something seems mi
[THREATNING DUBSTEB BLARES]
Better. Anyways, I was a huge fan of the Prowler. See back when I was in I think middle school, possibly earlier I had this book.
Tumblr media
I wouldnt' mind getting another copy or the updated edition at some point. I also had these for X-Men and Fantastic Four. It's part of what really got me into these characters, but the spidey one was near and dear to my heart even as it sadly eventually fell apart. It was a lovely big ole book with profiles for all of spidey's villains, some of his side cast, and what have you up to the early 2000's. It was great.
So it's there I met the Prowler... Good Ol Hobie Brown
Tumblr media
Yeah before another hobie became your friendly neighborhood anarchist, the original was a window washer who really wanted to invent, but this being the 60's and many a man being a classist or racist, Hobie instead came up with a pretty brilliant scheme: rob a building using his various inventions and a badass looking disguise, and then return the money for a reward as Hobie Brown.
Unfortunately the building he picked was naturally the Bugle, his old workplace (Though to JJJ's credit, when Hobie had an altercation with his boss, Jonah took hobie's side. Jonah may be many things but Racist isn't one of them)... and he was VERY lucky that it was peter parker, having to pull his punches for obvious reasons , he encountered. Hobie thought he'd killed the poor guy, naturally he hadn't and when encountering peter as spider-man later, not knowing the connection, he confessed and explained things. Peter being peter, and once unmasked seeing Hobie really wasn't that much older than him and had been through the shit, let the guy go and Hobie eventually had a happy ending. So how does aaron fit into this? Well like i've said in this review and covered previously, Miles comes from the Ultimate Universe, so given the prowler had a dope as hell costume, name but not a lot of use, he was perfect to refit as Mile's first archenmey and most personal nemisis.
Uncle Aaron in the comics.. is a bit of a dick. While I plan to cover this arc at some point, as it's REALLY good, Aaron after some time in mexican prison, finds out there's a new spider-man and having stolen the spider in the first place and actually seen it bite miles in this timeline, puts two and two together... and then tries to blackmail his nephew into working for him to make himself the new kingpin, the old one having been blown up with a rocket launcher by Mysterio.
Tumblr media
He also died but rather than go out heroically , as we'll get to.. he went out because his suit backfired because he was stupid enough to kill the man who made it while trying to murder his 13 year old nephew.
Yeah it's a lot, and again i'll get into it some other time, but the film made the understandable decision to take about 5 to ten percent of there, and used that percentage to make him infinitely more badass.
This Aaron is an experinced supervillian, one who gives Peter trouble and has awesome theme music. The Prowler in the film is animalistic, moving at less frames than the other characters and being purely terrifying. It sells what Miles is facing: an unstoppable killing machine who just wants him dead. Which completely contrasts who Aaron is off duty. To him.. this is just a job and killing people is just what he does. Kingpin says jump, he says "what spider-man?". When not he's the cool uncle who gets introduced to fucking hypnotize. He's a smooth guy who while having terrible advice about ladies, also has good takes like "Smart girls are where it's at". The reason Miles confides in him more than his dad.. is easy to see. Aaron actually takes the time to reach miles on his level and try to gently coax miles into not totally hating his new school instead of saying WELL YOU'D BETTER LIKE IT. I mean Jeff is the better person, no question, he's killed exactly no one and for a cop that's impressive, but Aaron genuinely loves and supports his nephew even more than originally. It makes the contrast that much more horrific, that this perfectly kind, cool as hell guy.. can also casually hunt what he can CLEARLY tell is a child like a monster across a subway. It's no wonder finding out who Aaron is really rattles the poor kid.
It also makes his face turn that much more effective: it'd be easy to assume given how UTTERLY terrifying the film made him that like the comics, once Aaron finds out he wouldn't give one iota of a shit that this is his nephew. Instead Movie!Aaron.. is utterly horrified. Mahershla Ali does a hell of a job conveying the man's horror when Miles takes off his mask in a last ditch effort not to get choked to death, with Moore likewise conveying miles pain and desperation incredibly. The animation is also flawless here as you can just see Aaron realizing what he almost did.. and what he's likely done to counltess others like miles. How many kids did he kill simply because they saw something they shouldn't have? The horror is clear... adn the tragedy all the more painful when Kingpin coldly snipes him. All his power.. and aaron dies, encouraging his nephew to keep going and to be better. Aaron is an incredible character here, suprassing the already great original and I look forward to seeing more of ali in Beyond.
Finally we have Doc Ock aka...
Tumblr media
The casting was genius idea.. that i'm baffled WASN'T always the plan. Originally Ock was supposed to still be a man and a bit more big lebowski'ish. And while it means we missed out on Steve Buschemi as the green goblin, one of the directors suggested Kathryn Hahn, all around queen of awesome and perfect fit. It also fits the story better: Dock Ock being "Gasp" a pudgy guy who looks a lot like me? Not a huge suprise. But a scientest we simply see in the background and assume is someone shady, but turns out to be dock ock complete with soft robotics tentacles? Fucking brilliant. It plays genre expectations against us: normally the messy haired science lady is on our side, as peter assumed.. instead Ock is fully on board with this scheme and even actively decives kingpin to get it thorugh. Oliva is ock in every sense of the word and is easily our heroes most dangerous opponent that isn't king sized. It takes THREE spider-men to wear her down and a fucking truck ex machina to finish her. Hahn, as usual has a lot of fun with the roll and it's no shock disney wanted to get in on this, and I can't wait for Agatha coven of chaos after her amazing work on Wandavision. Hahn is just neat and Olivia is great. Also nice subtly saying gay rights with Liv being implied to be Aunt May's ex in this reality too. Did it also involve a nuclear explosion on an island off of canada? One can only hope.
Odds, Ends and Sick Beats
So character wise we only have a few left to go over. First up is Rio, Miles supportive kind mom. She dosen't get a ton to do here but what we see is great and like Gwen, it's clear the writers realized they didn't use her as much and the sequel dives into her more and makes her just as important as her husband.
Then we have Ganke. In the comics, Ganke is miles lego loving best friend, his closest confidant and he helps ease the tension of being spider-man.. but given said tension drives the whole plot here, I get why they eased back. The other reason.. is understandable if disapointing. See the MCU Version of Ned Leeds, Ned Lee.. is basically Ganke. Close friends with our spider-man? Likes lego? bit of a nerd? Serves as his "guy in the chair". All check. And ned is great, he's fantastic and if I ever get to the mcu trilogy, i'll defintely have plenty good to say. It just meant Ganke had nothing to really do and is thus off to the side for these films. It's disapointing but I can understand it.. and he still gets a great scene in the spider-people trying to avoid him.. also Peni was blushing like mad. I need followup on this ship next film crew.
We also have Stan's cameo.. which is heartbreaking, but man was it good and it served as a great tribute to the man without being meant as one. It also gently jabs at his huckster nature with the no refunds sign. Oh stan... I miss you man.
Finally we have the films soundtrack. It's so damn good and it uses music beautifully: It has standouts like What's Up Danger, which i've talked about. Sunflower which thematically fits the film and the miles gwen romance, and Hypnotize, which perfectly sums up who aaron is when he' s not stalking children like some sort of feral cat man. I was going to talk about it more in depth, but it's just fanatastic.. and frankly this review is both horribly behind as is. It's a great sountrack and an all timer, both in the music made for it, the ones chosen for it and the backing tracks. Stupendous
So that brings us to the end of this long look.. and it should go without saying by this far in.. this film is a masterpiece. It's great as an adaptation, phenominal on it's own, groundbreaking, and I'll be revisiting it again and I feel terrible I didn't because I noticed so much more the second time around. This project has been a lot.. but it's also been some of the most fun i've had ont his blog. As i've already announced... we will be doing this one more time for beyond, and possibly again for across' theatrical release as that seems like it's not going to be as soon as Sony hopes. Either way i'm still shooting for the films current release date in march, so we'll be back with this in november or december with some other spidey plans in the mix as well. So thanks for taking the leap with me.. and hopefully you'll stick around. Until then... thanks for reading... and remember.. anyone can wear the mask... especailly you.

author note: my take on that cute tiktok proposal trend
Peter Parker (Andrew) x fem!reader
word count: 2k
warning(s): fluff, cursing, not proofread
.
.
I hear him shuffling around the room. I feel the ray of sunshine wash over my face, but I refuse to open my eyes. Maybe I can stay asleep just a little bit longer.
“Babe, come on. I know you’re awake. Let’s go! We gotta get going!” Fuck.
“Why? Give me a valid reason why I have to get up.” My eyes stay closed, but I keep myself conscious enough to hear his answer.
“Because it’s our anniversary.” He says matter-of-factly.
I roll over to my back and hold myself up with my forearms. If looks could kill, New York would need a new Spider-Man.
“Yes, but we aren’t doing anything until tonight, remember? Me, You, Thai food, Back to the Future? Ring a bell?”
“Yes,” he says dragging out the word, “but I thought it would be nice to do try out something a little different this year, so I set up an appointment for you.”
“An appointment?” I ask, giving up on any sleep I thought I was going to get this morning and slowly roll out of bed.
“Yep. You are going to get your nails done. Your appointment is at 1. Just call me when you’re done, so I can pick you back up.”
“Peter-“
“Nope,” he says before I can finish my sentence. “We’re actually going to be late so I kind of need you to get up ten minutes ago. Come on. Up.” I let out a grunt before getting up.
I drag my feet to the bathroom. Peter chuckles at me. I can’t believe him. He knows I’m not a morning person. I just don’t understand why it was so urgent for me to get my nails done. We have a tradition and now all of a sudden-
“Babe, I love you, but we need to go.” The gall on this guy.
“You don’t get to wake me up late for this surprise appointment and then rush me.” I huff.
I speed through my routine, so he’ll shut up. Just a quick wash up since we’re apparently in a big rush, washed my face, and put on sunscreen. The quickest thing to put on were some slightly oversized sweatpants and crop graphic t-shirt. My Nike’s were closest to the door, so I just slipped those on. The elevator takes absolutely forever before it gets to the lobby. I didn’t really mind until Pete started fidgeting and looking at his watch. Once the doors open he grabs my hand and rushes us to the entrance. Everything feels like a big whirlwind as one minute we’re in the building and the next we’re halfway to wherever he’s taking me.
“What color should I get at this mystery appointment?” I ask while looking out the window and holding his hand.
“White. Definitely, white.”
I nod my head and we continue in silence for the rest of the ride.
Tumblr media
“Okay, remember to text me as soon as you’re done.”
“Yes, dad.” I roll my eyes and kiss him quick on the lips before walking in.
The moment I walk in, the people are very nice. Suspiciously nice. I get it that Peter is quite the charmer but he’s not this charming for people to be super nice to you from the beginning to the end of your appointment. I tried my best to overlook it. Just pretend it was great customer service and go on with the appointment and it worked for the most part until closer to the end of the appointment. It’s like everyone in the salon was giving me looks for joy. I may be crazy for thinking this, but it might not be too far-fetched. Was I just getting my nails done or is he going to propose?
I’m not sitting in the waiting area long until I hear the chime of the door and see Peter walk in. A smile instantly kisses my face as our eyes meet.
“So?” He asks with a hint of excitement. I show him my nails and his smile brightens. “They look great! Okay, let’s go.” He says as he once again whisks me off to the car.
“Can we go back home now?”
“Maybe. I forgot to ask you; do you still have that dress that you wore on our first date?”
“Yes, I left it at Aunt May’s though. Remember she said she would sew up a little hole that I made?” He knows this though? I’ve been pestering him about picking it back up for months.
“Shit, you’re right. Okay, let’s go now.” Before I can respond, he’s already taking the exit to Queens.
“Babe, we do not have to go all the way to May’s for a dress.” I say to no avail. Why is he being so weird?
We get to Aunt May’s and she’s acting just as weird but is hiding it a bit better. She told me to wait downstairs while her and Peter go upstairs to get the dress. Definitely doesn’t set off any alarms. It doesn’t help that there’s like zero noise up there which is not normal. All I hear is hushed tones and random bouts of silence. Whenever those happen, I assume they’re trying to see if I’m listening, but I’m actually smart with my sneakiness and make sure I’m making some type of noise, no matter how miniscule.
-.-.-.-
This is ridiculous. 30 minutes for a dress? It’s already 4:43. I would go up there, but Aunt May gave me the look before she walked up the stairs, meaning she knows I would go up there and ask what’s taking so long and that I need to stay down here. Honestly, by the time we get back to New Rochelle, the Thai place will probably be closed. Right as I sit down, Peter comes rumbling down the stairs.
“Ready babe?”
“Peter Benjamin Parker,” I start. Before I could finish, Aunt May walks down right behind him.
“It’s my fault dear. I found some old stuff from his mom that I wanted to show him.” My harsh tones of my facial features soften.
“That’s alright. Ready to go Pete?” We say our goodbyes to May and walk back to the car.
He seems a bit calmer on the drive back home.
“What’s that in your pocket?” I ask as I notice a bulge in his jacket pocket.
“Oh, just a ring that my mother left behind.” And he says nothing more on the subject. Is it just his mother’s ring or is he about to propose? Oh well. At least I got my dress back.
The nightlife passes us by. Sadly we don’t pass through the city on our way back home, but the view is still pretty, nonetheless. I hold my breath as we cross the bridge to overcome my fear of bodies of water at night. I still can’t help, but to think about the possibility of the bridge giving in and just collapsing. My heart rate picks up. Peter brings his free hand to mine and holds it. I exhale and look over at him. The street lights run across his face, making him look 10x more beautiful than he usually is. I hope one day I do get to marry him. I don’t think I could be without him at this point.
Tumblr media
Before I can even sit down, “You should go try on the dress babe. Make sure it still looks good.” I’m don’t even bother putting up a fight as this point. This whole day has just been so weird. I walk to the bathroom and put the dress on. Damn, I look good in this. So glad I made this purchase. They don’t even sell it anymore, sadly. It’s a bit outdated since I got it 4 years ago, but I don’t mind.
I open the bathroom door to see Peter standing there in a different outfit. How did he get changed so fast?
“Okay, so I kind of lied. We have one more place to go tonight. Don’t be mad, but we gotta go back to Queens.”
I deadpan him.
“Peter, it’s already 5:25. Where are we going?”
-.-.-.-
“Peter if you wanted to recreate our first date you should’ve just said that.” Halfway to the café and he finally told me his plan.
“That seemed less special. Come on it’s gonna be fun. Don’t be mad at me on our anniversary.”
I roll my eyes for the umpteenth time today and look out the window as we pull up to the café. Did we really drive all the way back to Queens or is he going to propose? Honestly, considering how much I’m harping on it, I don’t think it’s going to happen, but I’m still happy with the thought that he’s put into this. Once parked, he walks over to my side and opens the door for me.
“Are you sure this place is open?” I look through the windows and see the lights dimmed.
“They aren’t but lucky for us, the owner is a hopeless romantic and said she’d stay open for us since it’s our anniversary.”
With my hand in his, we walk up and in to the building. As the front door chimed, an employee came out and asked us for our order. Before I can get anything out, Peter orders both of our drinks. There’s something familiar about the drinks but I can’t quite put my finger on it. We sit by the window and wait until they’re done.
“I can’t believe they stayed open for us.” I say with a smile upon my face.
We begin to reminisce on how we got to this point in our relationship. It started off light and fun, but at some point the tone changes. The drinks are placed in front of us, and I don’t waste a second before bringing the cup to my lips.
“God, this drink never gets any better.” I say after practically gagging.
“Told you that I was replicating our first date.” He says with a laugh. “As I was saying before, I really appreciate you being here, with me. I thought for sure once you found out I was Spider-Man you wouldn’t really want anything to do with me.”
“Oh come on, Pete. I told you back in high school that it’s me and you. No matter what.” I respond by waving off his silly statement and continuing to drink my God awful drink.
“Does that include marriage?”
“What?” My tone obviously confused as remove my cup from my vision and see him bended down on one knee.
“Now, I know you said you don’t like cheesy proposals, but I couldn’t help myself.” I feel tears well up in my eyes.
“I love you, so much. Whenever I wake up, the first think I see is your face and it makes my whole day. I’m not able to imagine spending my life with anyone else. You’re the air that I breathe,” His words begin to shudder, and I can’t help but let my tears fall, “Will you please marry me?”
His hand lifts into view and see the most beautiful ring. More beautiful than any ring I’ve seen. This has to be his mom’s ring. I nod my head yes and I’m officially bawling. He slips the ring on my finger and sweeps me up into his arms. I wrap mine around his shoulder and hug him tight.
“I knew it. I knew you were gonna propose. You were acting so weird all day and I had my suspicions, but I dismissed it.” My voice right above a whisper.
My feet touch the floor again and I lean back to look at him.
“You still surprised,” He asks.
“Pleasantly. Can we go and watch Back to the Future now?” He kisses my lips once, twice, thrice.
“Yes.” He says with a loving smile. We gather and throw away our trash, say goodbye to the employee, and walk outside.

Top 22 of 2022
End of the Year Game Tag
I got tagged by @happyandticklish for the end of year tag game! I'm going to put the answers under the cut so you can skip past if you'd like ^^
Part 1: Fandom Faves
01. Favorite new fandoms of the year
OOOOOO I think I joined a heap of new fandoms this year. Top favourites would have to be Heartstopper, Moon Knight, Daredevil, SuperBat (DC), and The Umbrella Academy.
02. Favorite new ships since this year
Obviously Nick/Charlie, Superbat, and probably Steddie (even tho I'm not up to their season in Stranger things yet lmao).
03. Favorite anime/TV show of the year
I think Moon Knight has to take the cake my dudes. I haven't been that hooked on a show in ages.
I'm not really an anime watcher, so I don't really have an answer for this. But my gf has been trying to get me into Fairy Tail so I'll pick that one I guess ^^
And of course, my all time favourite show is Doctor Who
04. Favorite movie of the year
Turning red was amazing, made my best friend cry.
I do have to give MoonFall an honourable mention, that movie was batshit crazy and I loved it.
And even though it technically came out in 2021, I watched it in January this year so SPIDERMAN NO WAY HOME is gonna be my favourite movie for the year.
In terms of my favourite movie of all time, I love Legends of Ravaging Dynasties and How to Train your Dragon.
05. Favorite character of the year
Oh god this is hard...
I'd have to give it to either Steven from Moon Knight or Elijah from The Originals!
And of course Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man has to be up there hehe.
But my favourite character of all time is Captain Jack Harkness from Doctor who. That man is EVERYTHING
06. Favorite soundtrack of the year
Ooooo interesting...
In terms of newer sound tracks, I'll give it to Tick Tick Boom (another one that came out last year but I only watched it this year).
For older soundtracks, nothing will ever top HTTYD.
07. Favorite book/manga/comic of the year
I started The Promised Neverland this year and it was pretty cool!
Overall, Stuff That Scares Your Pants Off is such a good book and I don't know why I love it so much.
08. Favorite game of the year
I'll give it to The Quarry, Cult of the Lamb, and Stray.
Overall, I'm a sucker for Minecraft, Skyrim, and The Sims.
09. Highlight of this year to remember
Probably moving out! That was a huge achievement, and to do it with my girlfriend was awesome.
Part 2: Community Review
10. Favorite Tumblr moments of 2022
Like many others, TickleTober was my favourite moment this year for the community! And not just seeing everyone creating throughout the month, but seeing the support and encouragement and hype for each other was lovely!
11. Favorite fan art of the year
I'm such a sucker for anything that @sleepysheepytea draws cause it's just absolutely adorable (even though we don't share any fandoms I still cannot get enough of them).
I also only recently discovered @vqler 's art and HOLY SHIT ???? very VERY talented people on this app...
@ticklishfanart has some adorable pieces !!! Mostly for MHA which I haven't seen but like COME ON LOOK AT THIS, AND THIS!!! HOW COULD YOU NOT LOVE IT?
Finally, @ssnicker-doodless has some super cute sketches that I've seen around the place.
Again, not a lot of fandom crossover with people (perhaps down the track I'll commission 👀). I need to find artists who share fandoms with meeeee !!! (though as I'm typing this I swear to god there's some moonknight fanart I've seen and I can't find it SJDHALKSHAS help). If there's any artists out there who have similar likes to me PLEASE send me ur username (or a username of an artist you like) in the ask box !!!
But I mean the fanart someone drew of When Bats Hum kinda has to be my favourite right??? It was so cute, so well done, and meant absolutely everything to me.
12. Favorite fic of the year
Oh this is DIFFICULT ! This is real hard. I loved so many fics this year aaaaaaaaaa.
Onion Man's heartstopper fics were beautiful (@ticklepinions )
This heartstopper fic, this PJO fic, and this Destiel fic from Happy are all amazing (@happyandticklish )
HOLY SHIT I JUST REALISED THAT @writingwitharlo WROTE A HEAP OF MY FAVOURITE FICS FROM AGES AGO AJSKHSALKHFS OMFG !!!! LEMME DUMP A WHOLE LIST FOR YOU: - Steddie (recent, not an old fav but I still love it) - Heartstopper (1 and 2, again not old but amazing ) - Stony - Supernatural (this one and this one and this one too! THESE ARE SOME OF MY OLD FAVS SKJALSHKLSDJHSDFLKJH)
@ticklishraspberries has some really really sweet fics for Steddie, The Umbrella Academy, and Supernatural that I love !!
Lmao I did not pick just one oops.
13. Favorite ask game of the year
DAMNIT THIS IS ANOTHER HARD QUESTION UHH honestly I'd have to say the Alphabet Ask Game by @otomiya-tickles was a really cute and fun one!
14. My top achievements as a writer/artist/creator/blogger
OOOOOO Ok I have a few for this one. 2022 was a pretty big year for me in a number of different areas. - I hit 1,000 followers (holy shit) - I posted 45 new fics (which is insane I'm so pleased) - I completed the entire TickleTober Challenge coming up with my own original prompts (crazy) - And I'm slowly reaching out and talking to people in the community and I'm so keen to make some more friends !!
15. My own best fic/post of the year
In terms of the fic that did 'the best' I'm going to guess it's one of the heartstopper ones? Mayyyyybe a Moon Knight one?
OK DAMN heartstopper wasn't even in the top 3 ??
My top 3 fics overall are 3rd - Cold Hands, Warm Heart (Sanders Sides) [75 Notes] 2nd - Out of Control (Moon Knight) [86 Notes] 1st - Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better (MoonKnight) [105 Notes]
The one that I'm the most proud of this year is definitely Giggles in the Dark (Heartstopper). I loved imagining it, writing it, reading it, just everything! It holds a very special place in my heart! (and it did pretty well too so maybe people could feel how much I liked it lmao)
16. My most underappreciated fic/post of the year
I mean I don't reeeeally have any fics I think are 'underappreciated'? But I guess I'll put either Magic or Claws (both TickleTober fics lol, 25 and 26) on there? Magic is a pretty fun one that I had been thinking about for a while, and Claws I thought was pretty clever.
So yeah they would be my answers!
17. A post of mine that got more popularity than expected
Honestly both of the Moon Knight Fics got wayyyyy more popular than I was expecting (more than 100 notes for one ???) so yeah I'll put down Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better and Out of Control lol.
18. Something I changed on my blog since this year
I mean I changed my profile pic I guess? And I also posted a pic of myself (covering my face of course) which I've never done before!
Part 3: Next Year
19. Something I didn’t post this year but would like to do next year
I'd want to try to get into chapter fics? Like one long running fic thing. I think that would be a fun challenge!
20. Goals for next year
I want to hit 100 fics next year! I know that'll be tricky but I think I can do it!
I also want to talk to more people and make more friends!
21. 2023 releases I look forward to the most
Definitely hyped for the new Indiana Jones, and Spiderman Spiderverse.
I'm also keen for season 2 of Shadow and Bone and Squid Game.
And excited to see what fics come on on this hellsite 👀👀
Part 4: Spreading Love
22. Shoutouts to people who made my 2022 a better year
Ok I know for a fact I'm going to miss someone so IM SO SORRY IN ADVANCE but:
@ticklepinions for being not just a hilarious blog, but a really genuinely nice dude (and a teasy ass sometimes <3)
@happyandticklish for some incredible fics, being absolutely lovely, and sending asks back and forth <3
@sensitivebabbage for all the chats we have, the downright adorable thoughts you leave in the tags, and the occasional cute animals you send me ^^
And you know what here's a bunch more awesome people who are lovely, make awesome content, and/or just have absolutely fantastic blogs that I love seeing on my dash <;3 @artymiswritesfics, @ticklishsheepy (not active atm), @gigglen, @delightfulfics, @mysteys-vibes, @jamieisnotalee, @oliviaischillin1204, @achilleean, @fanficsandfluff, @ticklishraspberries, @blushypuppi, @toadallytickles, @august-anon, @supermarvel-fics, @the-new-ginger-switch, @nhasablogg, @ticklishfanart, @sleepysheepytea, @ficsandgiggles, @mysterious-marvel
Happy New Year everybody, I love you all and hope your holiday is exactly what you need <3

series masterlist
my next smau will be a matthew gray gubler one, so please send an ask if you want to be tagged in that one
reblog or send your thoughts!!
puppy interview video
hi i’m joseph quinn, and i play eddie munson. i’m natalia dyer and i play nancy wheeler. i’m perrie keery-quinn and i play robin buckley. and i’m joe keery, and i play steve harrington.
and we’re the cast of stranger things.
after almost 6 years, how does it feel having the series come to an end soon?
it’s surreal. even though i’ve only been on since season 3, it’s felt like longer.
if you could play any other character on stranger things, who would it be?
nancy wheeler. i actually auditioned for that part, and i got it, but then i got pregnant with the twins and i had to drop out, and apparently the duffers i guess decided to keep me on hold.
nat: wait really?
yeah.
what’s a role people would be surprised to hear you auditioned for?
natasha romanoff. it was between scarlett johannson and me and she got it, and she’s an amazing black widow.
jk: i mean you do some awesome moves in ncis: la.
true.
jq: *talking about auditioning for spider-man*
wait you tried out? which one?
jq: andrew garfield’s
well would you look at that
if you had to create an ‘80s mixtape, which songs would you add?
“lay all your love on me” by abba, “slipping through my fingers” by abba, “don’t stop believing” by journey, “sweet dreams (are made of this)” by the eurythmics, “don’t stop believin’”, “any way you want it”, “seperate ways (worlds apart)”, and “faithfully” by journey, “everybody wants to rule the world” by tears for fears, “i wanna dance with somebody” by whitney houston
jq: that’s a lot
shut up. let me have this
if you could guest star on any series, what would it be?
well i mean i always wanted to be on bbc’s strictly come dancing and i’ve been on a few times. and two coming soon.
nat: what’s your favorite dance you’ve done?
oh gosh it’s a toss up between spider hands and singin in the rain/thunder
jk: you love water dances
yep
if any actor could have a cameo on stranger things, who would you want it to be?
dane dehann. i feel like he’d play a good villain. i mean he has played a villain. was he one of the causes of me dying? yeah.
jq: ooh that’d be amazing
oh and my good friend matthew gray gubler. i mean he’s directed all the creepy criminal minds episodes and he loves halloween so that would be so much fun to be in something with him again
jk: YES
what’s the hardest stunt you’ve ever had to film?
refer to this video
like on stranger things or in general?
cm: general
this one scene in this season of ncis: la was really hard to figure out, but it turned out amazing.
who have you been the most starstruck by?
zendaya.
what are your wildest fan stories?
i’ve had people name their daughters and dogs topanga.
jk: can we name our future daughter topanga?
jq: what about our dog?
nat: you’re married to dinguses
i am. and we’ll see. and we don’t have a dog
jk: but we could
do you remember your first audition for your role?
topanga. and i almost lost it. and i actually talk about it in my podcast with my boy meets world cast mates, rider strong and will friedle.
refer to this video.
do you have a favorite behind-the-scenes moment?
when the cast figured out joe, joseph and i were dating.
nat: that was iconic. charlie and i figured out something was up
jq: were we that obvious?
nat: yep
jk: ugh
perrie, with the new spider-man movie coming out soon, would you do another movie as gwen stacy? and are you in the new spider-man movie? and is andrew in it?
if you were to ask me this a year and a half ago, i would’ve said no, but ever since andrew exposed his management, got out of his pr relationship, and started dating someone and we’ve made up and co-parent now, yes. yes i would. and i am not in the movie. and i have no idea.
what are your dressing room must haves?
twizzlers
nat: it’s quite funny. we were filming and she had twizzlers in her pocket and just ate one and the duffers kept it in. and since then you’ll just see her eat twizzlers.
jk: she’s very possessive over them. in the scene where i reach to eat one, and she slaps my hand away, that wasn’t scripted and they kept it in.
yeah. i forgot that i had put them in there the day before. i also eat them in every show that i’ve been in.
where do you think your characters would be in 2022?
married. kids. hawkins is safe.
send an ask if you want to be added or removed!

You know, I don’t know if I ever said it but I don’t think I’m ever going to watch any new marvel movies. Or the series, but that’s a separate issue. Like I haven’t seen any of the movies since Endgame or watched any of the series. I still read fanfics, I still look at the art, but I have no desire to consume any of the new content in the MCU.
Like I think the most I watched was googling for the scenes with Andrew Garfield from Spider-Man, but other than that? Don’t care. Shang Chi looked good, but I still have no desire to watch it. I didn’t watch Black Widow and I likely never will. I didn’t care at all about Eternals to the point of blacklisting it on my dash because I got tired of seeing it. I already mentioned the scenes from NWH. I had less than zero desire to see the new Strange movie. I don’t even care about seeing the new Thor movie and I love Thor. I simply. Do. Not. Care.
And that’s sad, because I was the person going to see every movie! But like…they broke it. The magic is gone for me. Aside from the constant overuse of CGI, the fact that none of it feels real anymore, and that every movie feels exactly the same (like I can see why actors wouldn’t know what movie they were on, I can’t even tell and I’m seeing it after effects are added) they just butchered it all with Endgame.
Endgame was literally like…it was the final straw. They butchered my favorite characters in a brutal way and I stopped being able to care. Endgame had the potential to be amazing. My friend went with me, having seen it once, prepared for me to be a sobbing mess. She was ready with tissues and chocolate and told me ahead of time that she was ready to drive us back even though I’d driven us there. And when she looked over at me at the exact moment she expected me to be crying, I was, but I shook my head and waited until we were back in my car before I finally started talking.
She was expecting me to be sad, heartbroken, etc, and I wasn’t. I was fucking. Pissed. I ranted the entire 30 minutes back to my house. And I’m still pissed. They messed up the characterization at every turn. They ruined the characters at every turn. I saw a post about writing that makes you made at the characters being a good show and writing that makes you mad at the writers being a bad show. This was the latter.
There are so many details I could get into. But that’s neither here nor there. The point is that Endgame has ruined me for all other Marvel movies in a bad way. I told my best friend, who’s been to so many of these movies with me, that I don’t think I’ll ever go to one again and she was shocked. It was that bad. I’m still happy to consume works by individual people, artists and writers, but I just saw the Strange trailer as an ad on Hulu and it made me sad because the only thing I feel looking at Marvel trailers now is indifference. I just don’t care in the least and I’m sad because I used to love it.
I just…how did we get here? How did this go from being something I was so enthusiastic and passionate about to something I’m impatient to see go off my screen so I can go back to my other show. I rewatched the first cap movie the other day and I had fun! I enjoyed it! And then I remembered Endgame and I got angry again. It’s been years and I’m still livid over this movie! I’m just so tired. With every new Marvel movie, I get more and more tired with it. I hate that something I loved was turned into something I can’t stand.
I just really hate it.

you and peter had been friends since elementary school, the two of you were always together. if you go do something, he was there. he did something, you were there. you guys were rarely apart. by high school, you had a place you guys would hang out every night; the skate park. you loved watching him skate, totally not because you had a massive crush on him since middle school.
no. no way.
okay, maybe. you only started hanging out with him at the skate park because you changed schools once you got to high school. with peter in science school, and you in art school you rarely saw him. so when you did, you cherished every moment you had with him. plus, you applied to your dream college and you’d be leaving in a few months. you hadn’t told him yet.
though, you didn’t skate you still enjoyed being there. you usually sketched while peter skated. you had never shown him your sketches though. sure, he’s seen your work but you’ve never shown him the pieces you do of him. any time he would ask you about it you’d just shrug it off.
until that day.
“you always carry that with you” his voice scared you since you didn’t know he was approaching you. “jesus christ, peter” you huffed, slamming your sketchbook closed and looking up at him. “a warning next time” he laughed. god, he’s so cute.
“can i see?” reaching for the black book, you quickly pushed his hands away. “no, they aren’t very good.” peter raised his eyebrows, “you expect me to believe that? you’re an incredible artist.” he took your hand in his.
curse you peter parker.
you felt your heart skip a beat. play it cool y/n. play it cool. you smiled at him, “maybe another day, yeah?” he pouted holding your hand tighter, “oh, cmon y/n. i deserve to see them” you only laughed, looking away hoping he wouldn’t see the red hue forming on your cheeks but you shook your head. “it’s getting late, parker. we should head back” you said, pulling your hand from his grasp to grab your coat. he smiled, he knew how to get you flustered so easily. he could simply look at you and you’d be a mess. especially when it comes to your art.
he walked you home almost every day, he loved doing it. after you switched schools he missed you so much. the way you got so happy when figuring something out you had been struggling with. the light in your eyes when you looked at him. you were everything to him. he had been like this since he was a kid. he loved watching you work on painting pieces, you made it look so effortless. you found beauty in the simplest things. he couldn’t fathom how much he loved you. when he had sleepless nights, all he wanted to do was swing to your apartment and see you. well, maybe not swing. he still hadn’t told you about his whole spider-man gig.
when you had made it to your apartment, shared with your mom he stood at the door while you opened it and walked in. “thanks for walking me home, peter” you smiled, he shrugged. “it’s no problem” before you could close the door your mom peaked around the corner.
“honey, is that peter?”
“yeah, mom” you answered
“tell him he can stay for dinner”
you turned to peter again, you stepped out of the way letting your friend in. as he walked away, you closed the door taking in a deep breath and putting a hand over your chest trying to calm your nerves. he had made his way to your bedroom where the two of you would typically hang out. truthfully, with your feelings for parker growing every day it was overwhelming.
you walked over to him, following him as he entered. both of you take your bags off and drop them on the floor. you sat the sketchbook on your wooden desk and took a seat on your bed, while peter sat on your office chair.
your attention moved to your phone while peter did whatever. this was normal. just being in each other’s presence, you didn’t have to talk you just enjoyed being around him. when he noticed your distraction he let curiosity get the best of him. he flipped through the pages of the sketchbook you had been hiding from him. when he saw that the sketches were all of him, his heart started pounding. you had pictured him so perfectly, from his eyes to his lips. you had studied him perfectly.
“y/n..” he breathed, you looked up from your phone and saw that he was in your sketchbook and you ran to grab the book out of his hands. “peter, i told you..” you quickly closed the book as peter started laughing. “don’t laugh! it isn’t funny..” you hid your face in your hands, but peter grabbed them as she stood up. “y/n, those sketches are amazing.. why would you hide them?”
“because, i didn’t want you thinking they were creepy, pete. i had nothing else to do at the park so i just..sketched whatever i saw. and..that was you” he shook his head, “no, no, no. i’m honored that you would even think to draw me.” he assured you, “what you do is incredible, don’t ever be ashamed” you couldn’t look at him, the embarrassment was too much. even if he said otherwise you hadn’t planned on him seeing them.
he brought his hand to your face, making you look at him. “it’s okay, really. i’m not mad at you” he smiled. oh my god, oh my god. you simply nodded, “okay..” you sighed.
“y/n! peter! dinner!” your mother called.
talk about being saved by the bell.
after peter had gone home, you stood in the kitchen with your mom helping her clean up. “have you told peter about school?” she was too busy on the dishes to notice your body language chance. “no...i haven’t got the courage..i love him, mom. i don’t want to hurt him.” your mom quickly quit what she was doing, grabbing a towel and drying her hands, and walking over to you.
“you know what you want right?” you nodded, “yes mom, but i-“ “what do you want?” you stared at her, thinking about it for a few seconds. “peter” she smiled at you, placing a kiss on your head. “talk with him, tomorrow at the ball drop”.
right, the ball drop!
you smiled, “thank you mom. i love you!” you laughed and headed to your room. you fell on your bed and sent a quick message to peter.
parker. ball drop, tomorrow. same time as always?
every year since high school, for the new year he would talk you to the ball. it started becoming a tradition it was just something the two of you enjoyed. sure, it was cheesy but you had so many memories. you had never kissed him on new years, not that you minded. okay, maybe you did. you fell asleep that night with peter on your mind, hoping you could finally get the courage to tell him you loved him the next day.
when peter woke up he was greeted by a text from you, he quickly checked it with a big grin on his face.
parker. ball drop, tomorrow. same time as always?
he laughed, almost hearing your voice while reading it. god, he loved you so much. he got out of bed changing into his suit ready to tackle on the day being spider-man until he picked you up.
you had slept in a little longer that day, there wasn’t much to y had planned on doing until that night since you usually headed out around eight. just for a decent view, but usually, you’d leave the crowd before it hit too packed for some private space.
you got up, made breakfast, and turned on the tv to watch some news. every morning you were greeted with the same red and blue suit tackling the cities crime. truthfully, you admired him for that. it takes a lot for someone to step up and help the city, so you had a positive opinion of the masked man, unlike some others.
before you knew it, peter was knocking on your window ready to pick you up. it was very rare he ever came in your front door. “peter?” you hummed, opening your window and helping him inside. “oh my god, what happened to your eye?” you asked, you gently held his face. “i had an accident on my..skateboard.” it was an obvious lie but peter didn’t want to explain everything to you so suddenly.
“peter, you rarely fall. what happened?”
he shook his head, “y/n i’ll explain it later. are you ready?” you sighed, rubbing your eyes, and nodded, “yeah, let me grab my scarf” you hummed. you quickly ran out of your room getting the black scarf and wrapping it around your neck.
-
the night was cold, the wind freezing the both of you but it was still fun. peter never failed to make you laugh no matter what was going on. you stood with the crowd for another hour before peter finally took you to the back to talk to you.
“y/n i have to tell you something,” he said, you looked up at him, “i do too” you blurted, quickly covering your mouth with your hand. he laughed, “you go first” you brought your hand down and sighed, “i uh..i like you peter” you looked away, afraid of what he was gonna say.
“i know”
your head quickly whipped around to him, “what?” “it’s obvious. any time i look at you or touch you, you look away and blush. not saying it’s anything bad considering i like you too” he started, he was about to open his mouth before you cut him off
“you like me?” he nodded, “i do but- there’s something you should know”
“what is it?” you blinked, “i’m..kinda..spider-man” you laughed, it was all coming together now. “i knew it!” you cheered, he laughed looking at you “oh really?”
“yes, you got buff one day, you’ve been ditching me sometimes and it’s all adding up with your wounds.” you smiled, he rolled his eyes. “yeah, yeah. so you’re not mad..?” “of course not, parker. actually, i’m glad you trust me enough to tell me” you answered, peter reached for your hand and held it tightly. you didn’t know when was the right time to tell him about your school but you were quickly pulled from that thought when peter started talking again.
“so, does this mean you'll be my girl?” he asked with a smirk. you couldn’t think clearly, looking up at his dark brown eyes as the snow dotted your clothes. “peter..i..” you breathed, looking away. he was quick to grab your chin with his calloused hand, meeting your eyes again. “yes or no?” you saw his eyes move to your lips. you closed your eyes, gaining the courage to answer him.
“yes”
he smiled, “i’m so glad you said that” his lips quickly met with yours. the kiss was passionate, as you expected from him. you had never imagined that this is how you would be kissing your best friend. you heard the countdown in the background and quickly pulled away, “peter” you hummed, he was breathless. “what?” his voice became deeper, you looked at the ball above you, “the ball” he followed your gaze.
“5”
“4”
“3”
“2”
“1”
“happy new year!!” the crowd roared, you smiled widely and turned back to peter who was already looking at you. you grabbed his jacket pulling him closer only to kiss him. it wasn’t as passionate as the previous one but still, makes your heart flutter nonetheless. once the both of you had pulled away he smiled, “happy new year, my love”
“happy new year, peter”
it was only then, you realized you didn’t tell him about your college application.

pictures — peter parker
NOTE! i took a scene from tobey's spider-man and sort of made it my own. you can imagine any of the three peters, even tho i was thinking about my husband andrew <3
WARNINGS! language
Tumblr media
tears fell down your cheeks as your eyes stayed planted on the many pictures you had taped onto your wall. so many pictures of you and your boyfriend, peter, of two years. even the picture on your nightstand in a frame, the one of the both of you on the first day of third grade. childhood best friends into lovers— either the best idea, or the worst kind.
you sat on your floor trying not to let your sobs out, just silent tears falling down your cheeks. you've sat here all day ever since you saw the action at the parade.
your boyfriend, peter, and spider-man, attended a parade held just for him today. you were going to go, but ended up running late and didn't want to push through the large amounts of people. so you turned on the news where they were filming the whole thing.
large blow ups of spider-man's mask going down the street, new york was celebrating him. you knew this meant a lot to him, you were so happy for his appearance.
you watched the television as he swung in from a web and onto the stage. gwen stacy was the one to introduce him, and he hanged upside down in front of the blonde. before you knew it, the blonde lifted his mask just below his nose and attached her lips to his.
that's when you shut off the television in complete shock. you couldn't believe what you just saw.
so now you sat on your bedroom floor— rethinking your whole relationship with the boy.
there was a light tapping on your window that snapped you out of your thoughts. you quickly wiped the tears that remained on your face and took a few deep breaths. you got up from the floor and went up to your window, opening the curtains to see peter in his suit with a smile on his face.
you opened the window without saying a word which peter found weird, you always gave him a hug before he was even able to get into your room.
"hello beautiful." he said as he jumped in, placing his hands on your waist.
you couldn't help but move away slightly, making concern cover peters face. "what's wrong?" he asked with his eyebrows furrowed with confusion.
the sadness you had held in all day slightly turned into anger. peter didn't even know what he did wrong— even though he kissed gwen in front of all of new york while in a relationship with you.
a chuckle left your lips, "you should know what's wrong." you said, crossing your arms over your chest.
peter shook his head, "i don't, did i do something?" he asked.
anger ran quick through your veins as you slightly raised your voice at him, "peter you fucking cheated on me!" you exclaimed, watching his confusion drain from his face.
"are you talking about gwen?" he asked.
a laugh left your lips now, "obviously peter! you kissed her in front of everyone! did you forget that spider-man is also in a relationship, with me?"
he ran a hand through his brown locks, "i-i didn't mean to." peter said at a complete loss of words.
"you didn't mean to?" you said, raising your voice. "did you forget that we've been dating for two years?"
peter fell silent as your eyes searched his for some sort of answer. tears brimmed your eyes as you scoffed, turning away from him slightly. if you look d at him any longer you would burst into tears.
"y/n, please." peter said, placing one of his hands on your hip.
you moved to push his hand off, "please leave." you said quietly.
he didn't say anything, peter just stood there with his eyes on you. he saw the tears about to fall, and the redness on your face from previously crying. he could feel his heart breaking just by looking at how hurt you were, caused by his own actions.
"peter, please just leave." you said again, voice cracking slightly.
"i'm not leaving until we figure this out." he said.
you ran a hand through your hair as your eyes came in contact with his again. "no! there's nothing to figure out! you had a crush on gwen for the longest time before we got together. when i saw that it's like my whole world changed. did you have feelings for her this whole time?"
peter stayed quiet and avoided your eyes, making you scoff once again. you moved past him and to the window, opening it as far as it would go. "leave! i don't want to see you again."
his eyes met yours and you could see the tears about to fall down his cheeks. "you promised me, you promised me you didn't have feelings for her."
"i don't." peter said with his eyes on the floor.
you crossed your arms over your chest, feeling the cold wind come through the window. you took a deep breath before speaking, "look me in the eyes and tell me you don't have feelings for her." you said as calm as you could.
peters eyes met yours and his mouth slightly opened, but no words came out. that's all you needed. you could feel your heart breaking more and more. his eyes shifted to the ground for a moment before looking back up at you, "i love you." he said, voice full of pain.
a tear fell down your cheek but you were quick to wipe it off, "you can't love two people at once, pete."
peters heart broke at the nickname that you've called him since the third grade. "i'm sorry." he said, grabbing his mask and pulling it over his head.
the boy didn't look at you again, he shot a web through your window and swung off without another word. you slammed your window shut and closed the curtains realizing that he actually loved gwen this whole time. your heart was racing from the anger and sadness running through your veins. your eyes looked over at the pictures on the wall, and you didn't think twice before tearing them all down.

Andrew!Peter Parker x Superhero!Reader
Masterlist
A/N: NO SPOILERS FOR NO WAY HOME!! So, I have a newfound obsession with Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker after watching the movies in preparation for No Way Home, and this is a direct result of that!! I've never written for his character before, and I know this is actually terrible, so I'm sorry!! I don't own any of these characters except (y/n). Enjoy! I also realized this is almost exactly like my other Peter Parker fic, but oh well. You can tell the tropes I like to write for!
Summary: You and Peter Parker are best friends, but neither of you know that you are friends behind your masks as you fight the Lizard together. Will one of you figure it out or will your friendship come crashing down because of it?
Warnings: typical cannon violence, mentions of blood, descriptions of injuries, angst paired with some fluff!!
(y/n) - your name
(y/l/n) - your last name
(y/n/n) - your nickname
(y/h/c) - your hair color
Tumblr media
Pulling on your suit, you couldn't help but think of how disappointed Peter would be that you were missing movie night yet again. The pair of you had been friends since you were a freshman in high school. Now seniors, your friendship had grown into something more, but neither of you would admit it. Since Uncle Ben died, Peter had been acting different, but that was to be expected after losing someone that close. You had been there for him, of course, but you also had your own endeavors to worry about. You told Pete everything; everything but the side "job" you had picked up, and the abilities you'd had your whole life.
From a young age, you remember being able to do things no one else was able to. You were extremely more agile, quick, and had could fight off anyone without being taught how. Now, almost two years later, you couldn't be more happy with the life you'd chosen for yourself. Helping people was all you ever wanted to do, and now you were using your powers to do just that.
You mostly had been stopping small crimes, but every now and then, someone interesting would pop up. Crouching in your black, leather suit, you heard a ding from your phone. It was a text from Peter. He'd responded to your message.
Pete: Oh okay. Are you okay, (y/n/n)?
You: Yeah, I just have a lot going on rn. I'm sorry, Pete.
Pete: It's okay. We can watch this movie another day.
With a sigh, you slid your phone into the back pocket of your suit. You hated lying to him, but it was just to protect him from your crazy work. A familiar 'thwip' fills the air, and you turn to see Queens' resident web-head walking, well, more like limping towards you. He slowly eases his way down to the roof of the building you were currently patrolling from.
There was always a comfortable silence between the two of you, even though you knew anything about the other. He'd come join you on patrol a few times a week, so he'd started calling you "Twi," which was short for Twilight, your superhero name. You didn't like the name at first, but it did make sense because you often operated in the shadows. After a while, it had grown on you.
Your mask went around your eyes, and over your nose. You would be easily recognizable if it weren't for your mask's technology that disguised your voice and even made your (y/h/c) hair a different color while you were wearing it. He had his own full-face mask on, of course, so you didn't know who Spider-Man was. You turn to face him with a concerned look on your face.
"What happened to you?"
He takes a deep breath in, staring at the city in front of them. "A giant lizard."
"Yeah right." You chuckle dryly. "And I fought Marvin the Martian yesterday. He had a mean right hoo-"
"I need your help, Twi." he states, turning to look at you. "There really is a 9 foot tall lizard running from me. I tried to confront him, but...well, you can see what happened."
You glanced down at the large claw like gashes on his chest, wincing for him. "You should get that checked out."
He scoffs, "Yeah, that's not happening."
"Don't you have a friend or something who could help you out?"
"Nope. I want to tell my best friend, but she's been really worrying me lately and I don't want to add to whatever she's going through." With a sigh, he asks, "Do you have someone?"
"Nope."
That comfortable silence fills the air again as you look out at the city you try your best to protect. In doing so, you miss the way he was studying your side profile. You looked so familiar to him, but he couldn't put together why. Glancing over at him, you catch him watching you.
"Take a picture, Spider-boy. It'll last longer."
"Sorry," he muttered.
"So," you began, turning to him, "How can I help with your reptile problem?"
"It's not gonna be easy," he starts, sticking his hand out. "Partners?"
"Partners." you confirmed.
"Well, this is how you can help..."
~
He told you of Doctor Connors and how he was going to create an antidote for him. You were in the process of making the formula in the Oscorp building when you received a call from Peter, who you hadn't ever texted back. With a quick sigh, you answered and held the phone between your shoulder and ear, continuing to make the antidote.
"Hey Pe-" you started.
Interrupting you, he speaks frantically. "Are you near the Oscorp building?"
"Uhh. Yeah. Why?"
"You need to get as far from there as you can! Now! Go to Aunt May's place. It's safe there."
"A-alright, Pete. I'm gonna check on my parents at home, but you get far away from there too."
You hated to lie, but you didn't want to worry him more than he already was. The realization that you might not be able to see his goofy smile again finally hit you. Connors was no joke, and Spidey already had already lost to him in a fight once. Luckily, you were pulled from your thoughts by Peter's soft voice.
"Please be careful...I love you, (y/n)."
Your heart skipped a beat.
"(Y/n/n), are you there? Please say something."
"I love you too, Peter."
A sweet laugh escapes him. "That was so much easier than I thought it would be...whoa," he pauses, "I gotta go. I'll call you in a little bit, okay?"
"Okay. Bye, Peter."
Hanging up, you're pretty sure that you could hear the exact same voice you'd just hung up with coming through your earpiece that connected you to Spiderman.
"Connors is coming to you right now! You need to get out of there!"
Shaking away the thought, you responded. "The cure is just about done. All I need is maybe three minutes. I'll get everyone out."
"Please don't take him on by yourself. We'll do it toge-" He cut himself off with a groan, and then static filled the comm.
"Spidey!" You yelled, but there was no response.
With a curse, you ran towards the exit and pulled the fire alarm in order to get everyone out of the building. You prayed Spider-Man was okay, because you knew you couldn't beat Connors alone.
You spend the next few minutes waiting for him to arrive. When the ground shook and alarms started to blare, you knew the time had come. Quickly, you sent the lab into lockdown, trying to bide as much time as you could for the antidote to finish. Air hissed as it shot from the ceiling and the only lights were the red emergency signs. The biohazard door sealed the lab, and for a few seconds, you thought it might hold.
"Time remaining: one minute." the antidote machine announced.
Grabbing the Ganali device, you hid it in a lab closet, and hid behind a nearby desk, ready to fight if need be. Loud screeching of metal filled the room, followed by a growl that made the hair on your neck stand up. The footsteps got closer to you and the closet, but they stopped abruptly. Hissing, he ran towards you and slammed into the desk you were hiding behind. Luckily for you, your agility allowed you to get out of the way.
"Look, Doc," you said backing towards the closet, "You know this isn't right. Let us help you."
He lunged at you, swiping his claws at your torso. Dodging it easily, you went on the offensive. You kicked him in the face and did a flip over the monster to get behind him. As you were about to sweep his legs out from under him, his tail came out of nowhere and rammed into your stomach, sending you flying across the room. You landed with a crash on some desks, hitting your head on a metal bar. In an instant, everything started to fade, but your last thought was of Peter before darkness filled your vision.
"Antidote complete."
~
You awoke with a start to see Captain Stacy hovering over you. Head pounding, you sit up with his help. His face was painted with concern, a look that was foreign to his normally solemn demeanor. In the past, the two of you had your problems because he doesn't like vigilantes....at all.
"You alright?" he asks.
You nod slowly. "I gotta help Spiderman."
Helping you stand up, Captain Stacy hands Doc Connors' cure to you. "He's up on the roof. I'm your backup."
"No," you insist, "We've got it. You have a family that needs you."
He tries to argue with you, but soon gives up.
"Here. Take this." he says, handing you his shotgun, "You need all the firepower you can get with that thing."
With a nod, you take the gun and he heads back down to the street-level. When you find your way to the roof, you are met with a sight that makes your heart drop. The Lizard had his tail wrapped around Spidey's neck, choking him, and had his arms held together with one hand. With his free claw, he rips off the hero's mask, prompting a strangled groan to leave the boy's lips. Without the mask, a head of familiar brown hair was revealed.
"Poor Peter Parker." The monster spat.
Your eyes widened in surprise and you're frozen in your spot. Your Peter was Spiderman. A million thoughts run through your head, but the main one was 'how could I not have known?' Every interaction with Spiderman was being reviewed in your head, searching for any signs. Tears filled your vision at Connors' next words.
"No mother, no father, no uncle. All alone."
You couldn't lose him. You had to act now. Summoning all of the courage in your body, you raised the shotgun and pumped it.
"He's not alone."
The creature's attention snaps to you as he roars. Seeing the liquid nitrogen pipe near them, you shoot it, causing it to flail around and emit a cloud of white gas. Peter caught it and sprayed the gas into the Lizard's face and tail, which freed him from the choke hold he was in. As Pete continued to spray Connors with the nitrogen, you started shooting at him.
"Detonation in T-minus 45 seconds. "
Thanks to Peter who kicks him, he falls into a pit that stores multiple containers of the liquid nitrogen. You walk closer to the hole, glancing at your best friend as you keep firing.
"Hey! Finish this!" you yell, handing him the cure. More gas canisters busted and released the freezing gas, subduing Connors for a moment. He reluctantly takes it.
"I got this, Pete! Go!"
At the use of his nickname, he does a double take before climbing up the tall antenna that the Ganali dispersal device was on. You take advantage of the frozen reptile and reload your shotgun.
"T-minus 30 seconds." the computer announces.
Not even 5 seconds later, the pipe releasing the nitrogen sputters and runs out of the gas. The Lizard unfreezes and jumps out of the hole, coming straight for you. Shooting at him, you managed to dodge his first swipe, but with the second, the shotgun is ripped from your grasp. In an instant, his other claw came straight for your stomach. Trying to block it, all you could do was slightly change it's trajectory.
At first, it felt as if you were brutally punched in your side. All the air rushed out of your lungs, leaving you gasping for breath. With wide eyes, you looked up into the face of your attacker. A wicked smile painted his features and he chuckled.
"Guess you weren't quick enough this time."
Glancing down at your abdomen, the sight made you nauseous. One of his claws was completely impaled right above your hip, and crimson leaked from around the wound.
"Detonation in T-minus 10 seconds."
With a growl, he violently ripped his claw from you and took off after Peter. You fell into a heap on the ground, struggling to even catch your breath. Now the pain had set in and heat overtook your system. Sitting up on your elbows, you tried to drag your body over to a nearby wall. With every movement, a whimper escaped your lips, and you couldn't help but stare at the blood trail that followed you.
Finally getting to the wall, you halfway unzipped your suit on the front, revealing your sweat and blood soaked tank top. A loud boom from above caught your attention. Weakly peering up, you saw a blue mist explode into the sky. He had done it. The city was safe. With a relieved sigh, you closed your eyes and rested your head on the wall behind you.
Peter had just been saved from falling by Connors when the man realized what he had done. With a remorseful face, he whispered, "The girl." Spiderman shot up, sprinting towards where he had left you earlier.
"Twilight!" he yelled.
When he saw you laying there, he stopped momentarily out of shock before running over to you.
"Twi!"
You crack open your eyes to see the boy you loved with a scared look. Clearing your throat, you ask softly, "Did you save Doc?"
He grabbed your hand, rubbing it with his thumb gently. "It's okay. We stopped him."
"Peter I-"
"Let's get you out of here, okay?" he interrupted.
"Not yet." With a wince, you reached up and slowly removed your mask. Your disguised hair morphed back into the (y/h/c) strands that Peter loved, and your voice became normal.
"(Y/n)? Wha- No, no, no."
"Hey, Petey. Surprise," you croaked, stifling a cough. When a copper taste filled your mouth, you knew it was bad.
"You're gonna be okay." Peter's eyes were now filled with tears as he spoke. "I'm getting you out of here, now."
In one motion, he swiftly picked you up bridal style. Your vision began to blur. Was it from tears or the blood loss? You didn't know, but the last thing you remembered was Peter's voice fading from your ears.
"Stay with me, (y/n/n). Stay awake!"
~
The first thing you were aware of was the steady beeping from your left. Opening your eyes, you immediately force them shut again at the bright lights in the room. You bring your hand up slowly, covering your eyes. You wince as the movement sends a sharp pain through your side.
"(Y/n)! Careful, you'll pull your stitches." Peter says from beside you. Looking around at your surroundings, you realize you're in the hospital. He sighs, "You really scared me, ya' know?"
"I know. I'm sorry."
Silence fills the room.
"You know I didn't tell you to protect you, right?" He asks
"Yeah. Me too."
He gently took your hand in his, speaking softly. "I meant what I said when we were on the phone."
"I know. I did too."
"Good," he laughed, "because that means I can finally do this."
He leaned over your hospital bed with a goofy smile on his face as he gently cupped your cheek, bracing himself with his other hand beside your head. Your heart began to beat wildly, and you felt a blush creep onto your face.
"I love you, (y/n) (y/l/n)."
"And I love you, Spider-boy."
Bridging the small gap between you, his lips connected with yours in a gentle, but needy and passionate kiss that made you glad you weren't standing up. You'd imagined that moment for years, but it was even better than what you could ever imagine. His lips were warm and soft, and your hand ran through his messy hair.
Pulling away, you were both out of breath. He rested his forehead against yours as he whispered, "Wow."
"Wow, Pete," you repeat breathlessly.
He gently places a lingering kiss on your forehead before sitting beside you on the bed, softly rubbing your (y/h/c) hair.
"So, my girlfriend's a superhero. Pretty cool, huh?"
"Definitely, Parker. Wanna be Partners?" You raise your hand in front of you.
He shakes it just as you had before, "Partners."

Tumblr media
SPOILERS FOR SPIDERMAN NO WAY HOME SO DON’T READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN’T READ IT!!
 pairings: andrew!peter parker x fem!reader
warnings: fluff, crying, hugging?? kissing :P
(an: this is a request with specific looks so uhhh, she’s gonna have certain looks but you can try to ignore it. black/brown eyes, long brunette hair, short, dark skin, Peter = Andrew (T) Peter = Tom’s Peter
summary: summary: peter lost y/n and gwen at the same time. whilst ned and mj are trying to locate y/n and peter they grab the wrong versions. but it seems these two know eachother better then everyone thought.
As sparks formed a circle in the distance, Ned and Mis curiosity peaked.
“Do that again.” MJ told Ned as they got up from their seats. “Find Y/n L/n.” As he spoke and twirled his hands a portal opened up in-front of them. Through the portal they could see her, looking around, she was being thrown out of an apartment. “That’s her!” Ned yelled, “Y/n Y/n here!” She turned around to the sound of people shouting her name. “Ned?” “Yeah come on.” “Y/n!” MJ shouted.
“You’re not our Y/n, are you?” MJ questioned as the pair developed a defensive stance, slowly she picked up a piece of bread and chucked it at her. “Ow, why? Why would you do that MJ?” Y/n spoke as she rubbed her arm, “I just wanted to see uh something, if you’re a hologram or something.” MJ spoke. “I- I’m not. I was at my apartment with my boyfriend, my Peter Parker and I uh stepped out for a second when I was just here. I went back inside my apartment after a day and a couple kicked me out then you guys got me. What year is it? The technology looks uh advanced.” Y/n questioned the duo. Ned looked at her, his eyes warming up, “2024.” Y/n eyes widened as a state of shock took over.
“20- 2024? That’s, 12 years ahead. Wow.” “You’re from 2012?” MJ asked as her curiosity peaked towards this version of her best friend. “Yeah, 2012. If I’m here, you’re telling me that the theory of a multi-dimensional reality is real? A-and matter displacement?” She gawked, “Yeah I guess. But um no offence but we’ve gotta find our Y/n and Peter.” MJ spoke, “Ouch. But uh go ahead.”
“Find Peter Parker.” Ned said as he repeated the motion with his hands, “Try again.” MJ encouraged Ned, “Find Peter Parker!” Sparks began to appear in front of them as another portal opened in front of them as Y/n stepped back carefully, “Come here.” MJ told her as she walked to stand with the trio.
“Peter! Peter!” The two of them shouted as through the portal they could see Peter as Spider-Man. “Is that you’re Peter?” She whispered as MJ nodded furiously. Peter looks back at them as he begins to pick up his pace and jog towards the portal, Ned, MJ and Y/n look at each other with smiles on their faces, “Does this mean I get to go home soon?” MJ intertwined their hands and nodded with a smile. “Well in that case, Come on Peter! I don’t mind meeting another Peter Parker!” Y/n encouraged the masked Peter.
“Wait can you quickly go grab my phone, we need to see if there’s been any sightings of the Green Goblin and the rest of them.” Ned asked Y/n, “Uh sure where is it?” “Up the stairs to the left.” He spoke with a smile, she nodded and made her way up as she ran into Ned’s grandma, “Hi!” Y/n spoke nervously, “Y/n! Hello!” She spoke with an accent as she walked past.
Huh, I guess she knows me in this world too. Okay, Ned’s room looks pretty similar in this reality too. Where is his frickin phone!
-Meanwhile Downstairs-
“Crawl around.” MJ told him as she picked up another piece of bread, “Crawl around?” Peter spoke, “Crawl around.” MJ said as she motioned with her pointer finger, “Why do I need to crawl around?” Peter questioned, “Cause it’s not enough.” MJ defended, “This is plenty.” “No it’s not.” “Yes it is.” “No it’s not!”  “Yeah it is!” Peter spoke as they hopelessly went back and forth, “Nu-uh.”    “How do I stick to the ceiling?” He questioned, as MJ launched another bread roll. “Do it.” “Ned, (I legit couldn’t find what she says in Tagalog soooo)
“My Lola was asking if you could just, get the cobweb there since you’re like up there.” Ned asked him, “Yeah of course.” Peter said as he put his mask in his mouth and proceeded to crawl along the wall and get the cobweb down. “Thank you.” Lola said to him as he hopped down and cleaned off his hand before having them wide open, “We g-” His voice came out muffled due to his mask which he promptly took out, “We good?” “For now.” MJ said as Lola turned around.
“Hold on, if I’m here then you’re telling me that the theory of a multi-dimensional reality is real? A-and matter displacement?” Peter questioned MJ and Ned. “That’s what she just said.” Peter stared at them, “Who?” “I’m going to bed, Y/n’s coming down!”
Peter’s heart began to race after hearing her name, “Y/n?” MJ looked at him, “Yeah, she’s not our Y/n we tried to find the real one, but we got the wrong one just like we tried finding the real Peter and found you instead.” MJ explained as she came down the stairs and around the corner, “Ouch.” The two exclaimed in unison. As she turned the corner Peter’s eyes widened as a race of emotions flooded through him. Love. Sadness. Happiness. All at once.
His Y/n.
“I got you’re ph-one.” Y/n stumbled, “Oh my god, Peter!” Y/n gawked as a smile forced it’s way onto her face. “You two know each other?” Ned and MJ questioned, confused. “He’s my Peter!” Y/n smiled happily. The world slowed down as everything around him became blurred, his hearing? Muffled. Surroundings? Blending. Eye sight? Blurred. Tears began rolling down his face.
“Y/n?” He croaked out, “Yeah Peter it’s me! I’m sorry I stepped out of the apartment and then I was just here next.” Y/n spoke as she handed Ned his phone. “Peter?” Y/n spoke worried as she saw his tears. “I, you.” He scrambled his words as he stumbled into the wall behind him as she walked towards him more concerned then ever. “What’s wrong Pete?” Peter’s face twitched into a smile at the sound of his nickname. She bent down to his level as he was on the floor now.
Ned and MJ couldn’t help but fold at the scene in front of them, as they watched lovingly the door opened and in stepped Peter and May, “Hey what’s going on who are they?” (T) Peter asked promptly being shushed by MJ and Ned.
“We were trying to find you and Y/n and accidentally brought other dimensional versions of them here. They’re from the same universe but that Peter is from the future, where that Y/n dies. That Y/n is from a few years earlier and she just thinks that’s her Peter which it is but she doesn’t know what happens so it’s a pretty emotional scene.” MJ whisper-explained as Peter shook his head in understanding. “How cute. Y/n is at her parent’s house. She’s coming later.” May told the trio.
“Hey, hey look at me Peter.” Y/n said as she lifted his chin to make him look at her. “I don’t know what’s wrong but I’m here. I’m here.” She cooed. “You are?” Peter cried. “I’m here love. I am. Always. I love you,” Y/n promised as she kissed his forehead.
“I love you more Y/n.” Peter smiled as the two embraced.
“Aww.” The others spoke as they cried, holding each other for comfort. “I’m guessing you’re the other Peter Parker?” Peter and Y/n laughed as they got up.
(T) Peter looked down at his suit and laughed,
“How’d you guess?”

Parties…they’re not usually your thing or Peter’s. Neither of you were big partiers and big crowds of strangers weren’t always your favourite to be in and amongst, especially when alcohol got involved. Usually something insane would happen that you weren’t mentally equipped to deal with, that or too much vomit. But a colleague from work, Jessica, had invited you to her party, some big event she’d booked a whole bar out for, a bar with a notoriously good view of New York’s skyline, and you felt like dressing up for once and trying to be social. You rarely had an excuse to get out your pretty dresses. You just wanted to get dressed up and go to a party with your boyfriend, to see that look cross face when he saw you for the first time. Where his pupils would widen and that little smirk would tug at the corner of his mouth, a sort of half-grin that always showed his teeth and made him look absolutely feral, like he wanted to eat you up. You’d even convinced Peter that the police could handle a few robbers and petty criminals for one night and if they struggled, he’d be there the next day to mop up the mess…or so you thought.
“Peter, we need to get rea-” You’re stumbling out of the bathroom in your robe to tell Peter to start getting ready when you spot him, already in his Spidey suit by the window, mask in his hands. He gives you a sad look and you know before you even ask that he’s got to go…that there’s something important he has to do. It doesn’t stop your heart breaking just a little bit. You really thought you could have one good night…one really good night. Fucking New York City strikes again. You want to be angry, but you know he wouldn’t do this if he didn’t need to. Peter had been very good throughout your relationship at only missing plans if he knew the police couldn’t handle it, if some sort of disaster or crime needed Spider-Man and his particular set of skills. He’d been trying so hard to maintain some sort of balance between the two sides of his life and his relationship with you.
“Peter…” He hates it, hates the way your face drops at the sight of him, how your voice dips down in disappointment, the way your hands clench in the fabric of your robe. He crosses the room quickly, hands cupping your cheeks and his thumbs rubbing against the skin there. Your eyes are already filling up with tears and he feels like the biggest asshole on the planet. His beautiful girlfriend just wants to spend actual time with him and he’s going to leave her alone to go deal with a bunch of weirdos in costumes. It hurts because he knows you just want to go to a party and wear a pretty dress and make him wear a tie for once in his life. That you just want him there and don’t want to go on your own, but he’s about to give you no other option. He feels like he’s standing you up…what sort of boyfriend does that? Fuck.
“I have to go, you know I have to go, baby…” He presses a kiss to the tip of your nose, to the apple of each cheek, the divot in your chin. You can tell by the shine in his big doe eyes that he hates this, hates disappointing you and it makes it even harder to be angry with him when you know he’s already beating himself up about it. As if a party is more important than saving people. You know he doesn’t have much of a choice and it’s that goodness in him, that desire, that need to help others that you love so much about Peter. To stop him from doing this would be to stop him being the man you love.
“You said you’d be there with me…”
“And I will be, okay? I promise, I'll be quick and then I'll go straight there, just think of it like you’re surprising me with whatever cute dress you decide to wear. If I'm here it’ll ruin the surprise, pretty lady.” His half-grin is forced and he knows it's a lame excuse. That it won’t feel like you're surprising him, instead it’ll feel like you're waiting on him, hoping he’ll arrive, unsure whether he will or not. He knows people will ask where is, give you those looks, the pitying ones and he wishes, for just one moment, that New York could sleep, just rest for a couple of hours so he could take his girlfriend out to a party. Like you deserved.
“Pete…” You know he can’t actually promise to be quick, to be there. He has no way of knowing how long it’ll take him to deal with whatever situation requires his attention. Maybe it’ll be quick, maybe he’ll be there, but who knows?
“I know, but, this time…it’s serious. It’s not just…” It’s not just some robber, or some random thug. It’s serious. Peter moves within your orbit, pressing his forehead against yours, his nose nuzzling against your own.
“Are there kids involved?”
“Yeah.” He watches your face fall, watches how you resign yourself, steel yourself to the facts. There are kids involved and it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t make it to the party because his other job, it’s life or death, it’s important, it’s the priority. You cup his cheek and look him dead in those big brown eyes of his, accepting the situation, no matter how badly it hurts. No matter how much you want to be selfish.
“Okay. They need to be your priority.” Peter hates that you’re so good at this. At accepting that something, someone else has to take priority over you. He hates that he can’t make you that priority all the time, like you deserve. Hates that you don’t scream at him, don’t shout and call him an asshole, that you accept it…because it makes him love you more, makes it harder to do the right thing by you and let you go, instead he holds onto you tighter. Even when he can’t give you everything you deserve. You’re so deeply under his skin, so deeply part of him that he couldn’t ever let you go, even if it was in your best interests.
“Baby…” He wants to say you’re his priority, and you are but…but still Spider-Man has to come first, those people have to come first. You know this and any attempt to soften the blow will only make things worse, he knows that. You don’t want false promises. You’ve only ever wanted him to be open with you, honest, something so incredibly hard when he desperately wants to protect you even from himself.
“Pete..it’s okay, really. Go be my favourite hero…Just, please try to turn up, or Jessica will think I’ve been lying about my handsome boyfriend.” You try to play it off as a joke, but it falls flat, not funny and…too close to home. The last thing you want is to be alone at a party where you only know a couple of people, and none of them you know very well.
“I promise. I’ll be there, my suit and tie are in my backpack and all, baby. I’ll be there.” He kisses you long and hard, it’s a promise that you still matter and you melt into it like butter on toast. You watch through lidded eyes as he pulls away and hides his face behind the mask.
“I love you.”
“I love you too. Be careful?”
“Always.” You watch him go, follow him to the window and watch until he swings out of sight. Then you make your way to your shared bedroom and begin to get ready for the night, even if it’s going to be lonelier than you previously thought.
You try to remember his words, to think of it as a surprise for him. That makes it easier as you pull on that dress, the one he loves so much; the red velvet one that hugs tight to your hips and leaves your shoulders bare. It makes it easier to swipe your lipstick across your lips and style your hair. It makes it easier to grab your bag and coat and leave the apartment on your own.
But easier still isn’t easy.
                                         ─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“C’mon guys! I have a date to get to! Could you stop trying to kidnap little children for five minutes?” It’s frustrating and it’s ridiculous that of all the nights for a group of villains in stupid costumes to decide to kidnap children from an orphanage to use in some weird experiment to make themselves younger, they chose tonight. Peter really wasn’t feeling it tonight. Not when he had a van full of screaming and crying kids, a girlfriend to get to, and a bunch of weirdos in costumes trying to stab him. He hated knives and he hated the idea of you at a party alone.
“Awww, has the ity bity spider got a date? How sweet.” Mocks the big one in the stupid scarecrow outfit, straw poking out of his hat. He’s gesturing with his hands, twisting them over his eyes, as if Peter’s going to cry and it just serves to piss him off further. He shouldn’t be here right now, he should be dancing with you at the party or making you laugh at his stupid jokes about your coworkers.
“Wow, you’re gonna mock me? You look like a cheap attempt at a scarecrow! Where did you get your mask from? The dollar store?” Peter is quick to webb the guy's hands in quick succession to a nearby wall, dodging out of the way of a guy dressed as the Tin-Man who comes at him with a knife.
“Hey, no knives!” He knocks the knife from the man’s hands, “I can’t be bleeding tonight, she’ll kill me!” This guy is smaller than the last, he takes one hit to the head and collapses like a sack of potatoes while Peter shakes his hand in pain.
“Shit, ow! Was that really metal? Idiot!” The Cowardly Lion makes his way forward, Dorothy on his heels and Peter can’t help but think this is the weirdest crime he’s ever had to stop. He misses Dr Connors. At least he was an actual lizard man and not dressed up as one.
“But, seriously, guys, what’s with the Wizard of Oz costumes? You’re not really pissed off actors are you? No? Okay, so just a bunch of weirdos then, huh.” Peter’s eyes flick to the clock tower nearby, shit, you’ve been at the party nearly an hour by now and he’s still dealing with these assholes. Other than the police being slow to turn up, he’s starting to think they could have handled it without him. That makes him feel worse.
“Says the man in a spider costume!” Dorothy is an old lady with a terrible brown plaited wig on and bright glittery shoes that she can barely walk in. She’s also wielding a walking stick as a weapon. He feels a little bad, beating on an old lady, but…she was trying to murder some kids so…fair’s, fair, right? He’s pretty sure respecting your elders is made irrelevant when said elder has murderous intent.
“Whoa, calm down, Dorothy! I’m not the one trying to steal little kids to put in some ‘magic potion’ to make myself young again! What happened to Toto? You steal his youth too?”
“Don’t. Talk. About. Toto!” With each pause Dorothy swings her walking stick at him and he’s quick to dodge out of the way each time, ducking underneath the ‘paw’ or rather fist of the Cowardly Lion, just missing getting a black eye. He can’t get hit in the face either today. He can’t turn up looking like some bum who gets into fights all the time, even if he does get into fights all the time.
“Oh, whoa, lady, didn’t realise Toto was such a sore spot for ya!” The next swing of the walking stick catches him behind the legs and Peter falls prone on his back with a groan, there goes his middle back again. You keep telling him to watch out for it, but he’s pretty sure the universe hates him.
Looking at the clock face again, Peter wonders if he’ll ever make it to the party. All he knows for certain is this’ll be a hell of a story to tell you.
                                         ─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
An hour in and you’re already pretty eager to leave, but part of you won’t, can’t. There’s this little seed of hope that Peter will make it tonight and another part of you doesn’t want to leave only for him to arrive and find you gone. He’s bad at checking his phone like that, and to see him turn up to a party of strangers all alone? Only to find his girlfriend gone? No, no, you can’t do that. So you stay, nursing the same drink you’ve had from the start of your night and standing by the door to the balcony, out of the way enough you hoped to go unnoticed. Like many things tonight your hopes and plans were not going the way you wanted them too. You’re starting to wonder if the universe has a vendetta against you today.
“So, where’s the ‘boyfriend’?” Jessica siddles up to you, wine glass in hand, holding it just so to show off that massive rock on her finger from her fiance. She’d been parading him and the ring around all night, despite having been engaged for well over a year. You were pretty sure at this point she was just rubbing it in your face, to remind you that you were here alone.
She’d never seemed to believe you when you mentioned Peter, you weren't sure why, but she seemed to be under the impression that you’d made him up. Despite showing her photos of the two of you together on multiple occasions as well as the calls he often made to you while you were at work.
Jessica was…confusing. She could be lovely but also incredibly bitchy and you never really knew how she was going to behave…it made things…interesting to say the least. She definitely wasn’t your favourite person in the world, especially not tonight.
“Oh, Peter’s just running a little late, he had an emergency to deal with. He’ll be here.” You couldn’t actually guarantee that though, your eyes flicking to the clock on the wall. It was an hour into your arrival and over an hour since Peter left to tackle the next big problem in New York. You were starting to think he might never arrive and it seemed like Jessica felt the same way. You weren't just eager to see him because you wanted him here for the party, either, you were worried about him. You had no way of knowing whether or not Peter was okay. He wasn’t the best texter in the world, especially not when it came to his Spider-Man business. You loved him, but God, you hated how often you were kept in the dark.
“Sure…well, if you ever get lonely, David’s single.” She points to a guy in the corner who’s been staring at you all night. You give her an unimpressed look.
“Peter, my boyfriend, is just running a little late, Jessica. Why don’t you go find your boytoy? I thought I saw him with Leighanne by the coats.” She has the audacity to gasp as if she didn’t just suggest you cheat on your boyfriend with a guy who can’t seem to even have the maturity to look at your face and not your tits.
You take a long drink and sigh, “Please be okay, Peter…” You whisper it underneath your breath, fingers tapping anxiously against your glass.
                                       ─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“Finally, y’know, I'm getting too old for this. I have a girlfriend, okay? and she’s waiting for me to go to a party. You need to keep your crazy antics during work hours and week days, y’get me? Sheesh…” The group of weird goons dressed ready to perform the Wizard of Oz are all webbed up to the same lamppost, so tightly jammed together that they groan from behind the webs across their mouths. Peter is thoroughly fed up, running so incredibly late for the party and knowing that you are probably having a crappy time waiting for him. That’s if you’re still even there.
On top of that is the deep desperation to see what you look like, what dress you chose and how well it fits your body. To run his burning gaze across your skin and take you in. There’s never a moment that Peter doesn’t truly want you, you’re the most breathtaking person in his life, but god, he loves it when you have an excuse to get dressed up and wear something fancy. You always pick something that shows off your hips, always, a little tease to him. You know how much he loves your hips, the shape of them, the curve, the dips, the divots.
Peter’s drawn out of his thoughts of you to the sounds of sirens and the sight of police cars, they stop and he recognises Detective Morris as he steps out of his squad car. By this point Peter’s familiar with quite a few of the local police officers and they’ve long since stopped calling him a criminal, he’s now just some guy in a mask who helps them out and makes their job a million times easier than it was before.
“Hey, thanks, Spider-Man!”
“No problem, guys! Just make sure those kids get back safe?” Peter waves them towards the van, where a bunch of kids are sitting at the opening, waiting to be taken back to the Orphanage they came from. Kids are always a hard one, he still remembers Jack on the bridge, the fear that he might not be able to save him. It always makes him work that little bit harder, that little bit more determined to make sure they’re okay.
“That’s our job.” Peter’s phone goes off in his backpack and he’s quick to fish it out, your text lighting up his screen. “You got somewhere you need to be?” Detective Morris asks him, pointing to Peter’s phone.
“Yeah, yeah I do. My girl’s waiting on me. I hope she’s not too pissed with me…” Your text just reads ‘Where are you?’, no kisses at the end, no smiley faces or hearts. It’s hard to tell with such a simple message whether you’re going to be upset with him for taking almost two hours to get this done.
“She hot?” Peter can’t help but let out the loud and sudden laugh at the question, yeah. Yeah, you’re definitely hot. It’s the thought of you at the party, all pretty and dressed up and probably fending off all the men and women around that has him shoving his phone back in his backpack without even replying to your text.
“Detective Morris, she’s the most beautiful woman you will ever lay your eyes on. Not quite sure why she picked me, but hey! I’m not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth!” He’s already walking towards the nearest building, backpack swung over his shoulders, knowing full well that the police can handle the weirdos now they’re subdued.
“Have fun! Hope you’re not in the dog house, Spidey!”
“Thanks, Morris!” It’s with that, that Peter swings away from the crime scene. Dropping down into an alleyway near the bar where the party is held he’s quick to change into the suit he’d packed in his backpack. Spidey Suit thrown in the bag haphazardly.
The suit is a little rumpled and the creases aren’t going to come out anytime soon, but he’s not got any new bruises or any new cuts this time and his hair is…somewhat manageable he thinks as uses the reflection in a dark shop window as a mirror. He even ties his tie properly, neat and proper, the way it’s supposed to be, a stark contrast to his usually more relaxed appearance. He’s quick to rub away a patch of dirt from his cheek and after a second glance, he’s pretty sure he looks presentable for once. He, at least, won’t completely embarrass you in front of your work colleagues, not that you’d ever call him embarrassing anyway.
Peter stops in a shop on the corner, picking out the last bouquet of roses they have. They’re a little wilted, but a beautiful red almost the same colour as his Spidey Suit. It’s better than showing up empty handed and late.
Now he just needs to walk to the bar, find you and sweep you off your feet. He’s not figured out if it’ll be figuratively or literally yet, maybe both. Both seems like a good idea to him.
There’s a new found pep in his step this time, knowing he’s about to see you and he’s not breaking his promise to turn up. He’ll be there, like he said he would and with flowers in hand. God, he can’t wait to see you.
                                         ─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Two hours in and you’re still not quite sure why you’re waiting for Peter. The lack of response to your text message convinces you that he’s still in the middle of whatever mess he left you for. Yet, still you wait. You’ll probably wait until the party ends because he promised he’d make it, he promised he’d be here and Jess is still giving you that look of pity and mocking that makes you want to see her proven wrong so desperately. You can’t wait to see her face drop when she sees Peter, your boyfriend. Your boyfriend who’s hotter than her fiance, nicer than her fiance, smarter than her fiance, all around better than her fiance. Her fiance who’s spent half the night chasing other womens’ skirts and pretending he hasn’t been. It’s petty, but it’s hard not to be when she’s spent the evening stirring the pot and convincing David that you’re unhappy in your relationship and looking for a bit of fun. Something that is most definitely not the case and any man with half a brain cell might have noticed. Not David though. He had one eighth of a brain cell at best.
David had made his way over five minutes previous and couldn’t quite seem to take a hint. It was starting to grate on your nerves, even more so as he took another step towards you, invading your already limited personal space like he belonged there.
“Have I told you you look beautiful tonight?” He thinks he’s charming, you can see that. The smile he puts on is overconfident and cocky, but not in the way that Peter’s can be. When Peter teases you, when he’s a little arrogant, it makes your cunt throb and your mind spin. Peter would have had you whining for him by now. David wasn’t Peter, he wasn’t even comparable. Maybe had you never met Peter Parker he might have been of interest to you, but Peter had ruined every single man for you. It was simple. Peter was your end game, your ride or die. You had no intention of being with another person for the rest of your life and David needed to get the hint.
“Yes. Multiple times. Have I told you about my boyfriend, Peter?” You stress the word through gritted teeth, pulling back from his hand reaching for your bare shoulder, his fingertips just grazing your skin.
“Where is he?” The disbelief is starting to really wear you down. Do people think you’re sad enough to lie about your boyfriend? As if that was something people regularly did!
“There was an emergency.” Your tone is clipped, gritted teeth and a solid glare at him that should have put him off continuing to pursue you. It didn’t. You were starting to think he was either completely idiotic, oblivious or so arrogant that he couldn’t comprehend the idea that a woman wouldn’t be interested in him and his gelled back hair. Who even uses that much gel in their hair anymore? It made him look like a boy band reject from 2002.
Peter had spotted you before anyone or anything else, it was his goal after all, to find you amongst the crowd. The first thing he noticed about you wasn’t how you were dressed or how gorgeous you looked at that moment, but the look of disdain on your face and the man leering towards you like some sort of creep, his eyes staring down the top of your dress.
The man’s words travelled easily to Peter’s ears, enhanced hearing a handy talent, his voice grated on Peter, his clear interest in you an annoyance even more so with how uncomfortable you clearly were. He wasn’t exactly happy to find another man trying to make a move on his girlfriend. Peter set his jaw, and set his sights on you. His strides were confident as he dodged around each guest at the party.
David huffs out a laugh, “Not a very good boyfriend if he leaves a beautiful woman to attend a party alone, I’d never do that to you, sweetcheeks.” The leer has you stepping back and into a warm chest behind you.
“You’d never have a chance.” A familiar and most welcome voice causing your shoulders to relax. It’s sarcastic and unfriendly, the latter rather unusual for your boyfriend. You turn to see him behind you, glare centred on David.
“Pete!” You’re so excited to see him that you throw your arms around his neck and pull him down to you by the back of the neck. His lips press against yours roughly, more so than normal and you melt into his kiss. Opening your mouth to the coaxing of his tongue without protest, one of his hands falling on your arse in a way you would normally be self-conscious of and tell him off for. But, given there’s an unwanted man attempting to get in your panties, you’re not going to dissuade the possessive hand across your arse or the way he seems to want to suffocate you with his kiss. Peter’s teeth bite your lip and you moan into his mouth before he pulls back with that little half grin of this, the one that’s near enough a smirk, where his brown eyes look at you half-shut and tempting.
“Hey there, my pretty lady…” He nuzzles his nose against yours, eyes flicking briefly towards the other man with a hint of a smirk, before pulling back from you just enough to offer you the red roses, “These are for you, sweetheart, sorry I’m late, I got held up.”
“Oh, baby! You didn’t have to!” You take the flowers from him and press a kiss to his lips, it was supposed to be a chaste one, but Peter presses back against you roughly, pulling your bottom lip between his teeth before letting you go.
“Of course I did, I’ve gotta make sure my baby feels loved, don’t I? Now, let me have a look at my baby, mmm?” You feel warm under his attention, he’s not behaving as sweetly as you expect. This is the sort of Peter you usually get in the bedroom, the sort of Peter who convinces you to try and see how many times he can make you cum in one night, the sort of Peter who wraps his hand around your throat and squeezes till the blood rushes in your ears and you can’t form words.
Still despite the warmth in your face and the heat in your cunt you step back from him, David barely a thought as Peter’s eyes look you up and down slowly from head to toe. His eyes trail from your face and the lipstick you only ever wear because you know it drives him crazy to see it smudged, to see it mark his skin, down to your bare shoulders. He follows the line of your body, the dress…the dress, that dress, it’s his favourite one. The red one, that pops out at him whenever you wear it. The red one that shows off your shoulders and sticks tight to the curves and dips of your body. The red one that shows off your hips, the hips that you know he loves so goddamn much. Fuck, he loves your hips, how they curve, how he can dig his fingers into the meat of them, the way bruises look against your skin there, how they sway when you walk.
His eyes are anything but soft and gentle when he scans you. This is not the Peter who tells you he loves you sweetly and washes your hair and you’re not mad about it. You’re not mad about the heat behind his eyes, the way he watches you with hooded eyes and licks his lips like he might just devour you.
It takes everything within him to acknowledge the man who had tried so desperately to flirt with you. He doesn’t want to, but still his eyes flick towards him, the fire stays but shifts from lustful to possessive, assessing the other man as if he’d ever be competition.
Peter wraps his arm around your hips and pulls you tight against his side, pressing the whole length of his body against your own as he turns to David. His smile is tight and forced, his usually friendly demeanour definitely not reserved for the man trying to flirt with his girl. You relax into Peter, just happy for him to be with you, for there to be a deterrent. You watch him more than David, taking in the way the suit fits Peter, tight across his shoulders, a few wrinkles he clearly hadn’t been able to get out by smoothing them with his hands. His jaw is tight and it only exaggerates the cut of it, he’s so beautiful and you don’t even want to stay at the party anymore. You just want him to drag you home already.
“Who’s this?”
“Oh, one of Jessica’s friends, Daryl was it?” You know his name’s David really, but it’s a petty little attempt to remind him that you’re not interested in him and that he should find another pretty girl to try his moves on.
“David.” He corrects tersely, Peter shouldn’t find it enjoyable, the way the other man seems to deflate. He knows his uncle Ben would have told him off for it, for the way he was behaving, but for once he didn’t care. You were his, he was yours. David was an unnecessary and unwanted tag along. He also had way too much gel in his hair.
There’s an uncomfortable tense silence as Peter and David stare each other down before Peter turns with you still wrapped up in his arms. He doesn’t even say goodbye to David, just turns, openly dismissive of him as he ushers you towards a quiet corridor leading to the bathrooms. He urges you to shove the roses into his backpack as you walk, once a sweet gesture, now an inconvenience to his plans.
His grip is tight on your hip as you walk, and it only grows more forceful as he presses you against a nearby wall, hands landing on either side of your head, caging you in. Nothing about it is aggressive or nasty, just lacking in his usual softness and control. You know you’re not getting the overly sweet and tender Peter tonight, it’s exciting to see this side of him.
“Did you like him flirting with you, baby? Did it make you feel special?” His voice is rough and low in your ear, warm breath tickling over the shell of your ear. His thigh makes its way between your own, pressing firm against your cunt and you can’t help but roll your hips against the intrusion. Dragging yourself across his leg in an effort to find some sort of friction, some sort of relief from the beginning desire that burns in your stomach like white phosphorus..
“No, no, Pete. Only you, only want you, baby…” Your breath stutters at the feeling of your clit dragging across his thigh, wetness pooling in your panties as Peter trails kisses down your neck, teeth nipping and biting at the skin as he goes. He’s rough enough that you know there will be bruises across your neck, clearly placed hickeys that show you’re taken. You think that’s the point, something about David’s attention has set Peter off and you’re not complaining.
“Mmm, I’m the only one that can make you feel like this, baby girl?” Peter kisses along your cheek, lips hovering over your own as his hand reaches for your neck. He squeezes just so, thumb pressing into the underside of your jaw, tilting your head for him and you can’t help the whine that falls from your throat as you press your hips against his thigh. The fact you’re in an open corridor is a distant worry, barely a thought as your eyes flutter closed.
“Answer me, sweet girl.” His voice is firm, you force your eyes open to look at him, the way his brown eyes stare into yours as his lips brush against your own, nose nuzzling against yours. Even like this he has this gentleness, a tenderness that reminds you that you are in safe hands. Peter has you and nothing bad will happen, not even with your co-workers just down the corridor.
“Only you…only you make me feel like this, not him, no one else.” It’s a babbling mess that causes Peter to smirk because you’re so pretty like this, rutting against his thigh, skin warm and neck littered with small bruises that you won’t be able to hide tonight. He’s barely started and you’re desperate for him, and fuck, if he doesn’t love seeing you like this for him. Like he’s the only man in the world that can make you lose your sharp wits and ability to speak.
“There’s my good girl, my sweet girl…” Peter’s hands slide to your thighs gripping them tight and pulling them from the floor, wrapping them around his hips for you as he presses you into the wall. Your arms wrap around his neck instinctively, this scene having played out time and time again as Peter often takes advantage of his superhuman strength.
He moves you while you lazily press kisses across his jaw, what little skin on his neck is exposed is sucked and nipped as you occupy yourself with him. He thanks whatever deity looked kindly upon him, for this bar to have those individual unisex toilets, lockable and with such heavy doors that the sound is muffled and almost non-existant from outside.
Peter lets one arm drop from underneath your arse as he closes and locks the heavy door behind him, you’re placed roughly on top of a cold marble sink countertop, your thighs resting just on the edge of it. It’s so cold against your heated skin that it causes you to shiver. Peter, despite the mood he’s in, rubs your legs instinctively to warm you up.
“Pete…baby…”
“What do you want, sweet girl? Y’gotta tell me so I can help you out, you gotta use your words for me, sweetheart.” His smirk is teasing and teethy, eyes dark, practically black as his pupils take over most of his iris. Peter knows you can barely form a coherent sentence right now, and can very rarely ever form a coherent sentence when you’re fooling around together. Peter enjoys teasing you, enjoys seeing you struggling to form words, your lips moving as if sound will come out a few times before you finally manage it. He loves that he can do this to you, completely pull you apart without really even touching you.
“Need you, baby…” It’s pleading and sweet, your eyes half lidded as you try to tug him closer to you and he resists your pulling, his own hands grazing lightly at the skin of your thighs sending shivers over your spine. You shift your hips forward, but Peter just pulls his hands back a couple of inches, nearing your knees instead of following your silent urging.
“Where do you need me, sweetie, mmm?” His voice is so sweet compared to his actions, the voice he uses when he’ll do whatever you want, but he’s not doing what you want right now. It’s frustrating and delicious and you can’t help the shifting of your hips as if you’ll find relief from the empty air.
“Pete…” You whine bashful and embarrassed, knowing he wants vulgar and crass words to fall from your lips in an unfamiliar display of crudeness from you. A bluntness that you’re not used to around sex, you’re never the direct one, Peter is.
“C’mon, baby girl, where do you need me?” His voice is firmer, less soft and sweet, less pandering this time. It’s an order, a directive. If you want anything tonight you’re going to have to play by his rules. His rules are deliciously unfair, you think as your belly burns and your clit throbs unattended.
“I…” You toss your head to the side, face and ears so hot you feel feverish with delightful embarrassment, Peter is the only person you could ever feel so safe with like this, “I…want you to…want your lips on me, baby.” You know your words are too vague the moment his grin widens and he drops his lips to your shoulder, pressing an open mouthed kiss there, teeth grazing across your heated skin.
“Here?”
“Nooo…Pete!” You whine and throw your head back in frustration, hands reaching for his head as if to guide him, but he’s already moved onto the hollow at the base of your throat, pressing a kiss there as you squirm.
“Here then?”
“Pete!” Your hands shove his shoulders down, trying to urge him between your thighs like you want but he just smirks up at you all teeth and sin and control.
“Y’gotta tell me, baby, I'm Spider-Man, not a mind reader.” His lips continue to trail over your exposed skin; your collar bone, your throat, your arms and shoulders. Each time he kisses and licks and bites and you know you are going to walk out of this bathroom littered with love bites that your coworkers will see, that Jessica will see, that David will see.
The idea of everyone knowing you’re Peter’s, and he’s yours, that he looks after you so well, takes care of you properly, that’s what spurs you to say the words you’ve been so reluctant to.
“On my…on my cunt. I want your lips on my cunt.” You close your eyes and tilt your head back. Peter can’t resist the length of your neck and one last kiss to it before he gives you a sweet reward for your obedience.
“There, that wasn’t so difficult was it, sweet girl?” It was, you think. It was so difficult and yet his attention makes you want to squirm, making it worth the difficulty.
Fuck, you’re so pretty like this he think as he rucks up your skirt around your hips and slides your panties down your trembling legs and into his pocket. Your lips parting as you gasp and whine for him to just touch you while you tremble and shake for him. Your perfectly done hair is already a mess from being pressed against a wall, and your skin is littered with love bites from his mouth. A monet painting across your skin of various shades of purple and red. He can’t wait for David to see you like this, on his arm, can’t wait for everyone to know you’re his.
He takes a step back for a moment just to admire you and the distance has your head snapping up to look at him with a frowny little pout on your face. He’s scanning you again, head to toe, a slow trail of his gaze burning across your skin as Peter licks his lips and grins at your frustration.
You contain your desire to tell him you hate him, knowing he’s in the mood to stop and draw this out. That saying it will only result in him torturing you for longer and you’re much too riled up already for that. There’s a distant thought that you can’t believe Peter’s about to eat you out in a bar bathroom with your co-workers a few meters away. Another part knows he’s the only person who could ever convince you to do this.
“Pete, baby, touch me, please”
“Well, since you asked so nicely, honey.”
He drops to his knees so roughly that you wince at the sound of the impact as his knees meet the tiled floor of the bathroom. His hands slide up your ankles, a delicate little touch that has your skin twitching as he reaches the backs of your knees and drags you forward on the countertop until your arse is on the edge. His hands slide up to your hips to hold you securely in place, flexing fingers digging into the flesh there tightly enough to leave bruises, a reminder that he has you and a reminder of what sort of night you’re in for.
He presses close between your legs, throwing them over his shoulders as he holds you close and for all his teasing there is no preamble here. You whine as Peter licks from your slit to your clit in one fell swoop. Your hands slide into the dark brown strands of his hair and tug harshly, getting a groan from him at the pain. Shit, he loves pleasing you, could probably do this all night if you wanted. He pulls back just enough to look at you.
“You taste so good, baby, my sweet baby, is this all for me?” Peter’s hands tighten on your hips as you squirm, wetness pooling between your thighs and coating the inside of them with slick. You’re so wet that he has half a mind to ask if you’ve been thinking about him all night, if you were thinking of him when David tried his moves on you.
“All for you…all for you, baby.” Your legs twitch over his shoulders, a pathetic little attempt at urging him forward again, never able to win a battle of physical strength with Peter, no matter how hard you try. He’s steady as a rock, only moving when he wants and how he wants.
“Who does this cunt belong to, sweetheart, mmm?” His voice is so goddamn low and gravelly at this point that it goes straight between your legs.
You’re pretty sure your brain short circuits, Peter’s words combined with his mouth dipping back between your legs and  his lips wrapping around your clit and sucking has you throwing your head back so hard that Peter’s quick to reach a hand up and place it between the back of your skull and the bathroom mirror. He saves you from cracking your head as casually as he licks at your cunt and shit, Peter still having that much awareness and control causes more slick to gather underneath his tongue. He’s so goddamn competent and you love it.
“I asked you a question, baby.” His lips turn to the inside of your thigh, licking up your tangy wetness that has dripped there, biting into the meat of your thigh and laving it with his tongue while he waits for an answer. He’s being cruel and he knows it, normally he’d give you everything you want without question or much teasing, but tonight is different. It doesn’t matter that he’s rock hard in his dress pants, all that matters is reminding you that you belong to him and showing you no one else could love you this good. As if that was ever in doubt.
“Yours, baby, it’s your cunt, yours.”
He rewards you by diving back into you, tasting you on his tongue as he presses into you and surrounds himself with you, nose nudging at your clit as he licks into you and allows your hips to buck against his face. He can tell you’re close from the way you thrash, how your legs tense over his shoulders, but he knows you well enough to know you need more than just his lips on you.
Peter wraps his lips back around your clit and sucks at the same time as he presses a thick, long finger into you. You moan and twist, but it’s not enough, you feel so decidedly empty. Peter watches you from between your thighs, eyes looking up at you, at the puff of your cheeks as you hunt for a breath of air. Your hands tug at his hair with each suck and lick of his mouth.
Peter’s quick to press a second finger into you, curling the two of them just so against that spongy little spot inside you that has you crying out his name and gasping for air. His hand is still the only thing saving you from giving yourself a concussion. He’s downright relentless as he thrusts his fingers into you, curling against that spot each time, lips sucking and licking around your clit like a lollipop.
It’s a third finger stretching you open, eased by the sheer amount of wetness that you drip with, and the subtlest graze of his teeth against your clit that has you cumming. Your legs wrapping so tight around Peter’s head he worries he might suffocate, at the same time as thinking that would be the best way for him to go out. Dying between your thighs seems like a pretty good way to go.
You whine his name so loud that he’s not even sure the heavy door can muffle it. Your body tensing and relaxing with the waves of your orgasm as Peter works you through it, lips pulling away from you, but fingers still pressing into you, more gently this time. “There you go, baby, look at you…so pretty for me. Prettiest woman I’ve ever seen…look at you…”
He lets you push his hand away when it’s too much and pulls himself to his full height, slipping his fingers into his mouth and sucking you from his skin. You lean into him, pressing your cheek into his shoulder as Peter rubs circles into the back of your neck. Still soft, still tender as he waits for you to catch your breath and come back down from it all.
“You okay, baby?”
“Mmm, more than okay, Pete…fuck, you trying to ruin me?” You lean back and finally look at him. Your lipstick is smudged, eyeliner running, hair an absolute mess. You look wrecked in the best sort of way and he knows it’ll be obvious what you’ve just done when you walk out into the bar on the way back to your apartment, but that’s what he wants. Wants them to look at you and him and know.
“You just look so good like that, baby.” Peter’s hand wraps around your throat and your eyes roll back, already finding yourself getting worked back up again. He’s still so pristine looking, tie still in place, the only things rumpled are his hair and the lipstick marks across his lips and jaw. Compared to you he looks barely touched.
Peter’s lips press against your jaw, kissing up to your ear, “think it’s time we went home now, don’t you, baby girl?”
You nod rapidly, unable to find the words as Peter helps you slip off the counter and pull your dress down. He never returns your panties and you know he’s not in the mood to give them back. Asking would be pointless. You look wrecked but don’t even care as Peter slips his arm around your waist and walks you back out to the party.
You have to walk through the other guests to reach the exit, before Peter can swing you home and fuck you into the mattress. You smirk at Jessica as you pass by, her annoying face the picture of shock at the love bites and mussed hair you sport, at the specimen of a man wrapped around you in a black tie.
Peter does much the same to David, a challenging lift of his brow, a reminder he never had a chance with a woman like you. It’s petty on both your ends, possessive and silly, especially considering you should be embarrassed about being eaten out in a bar bathroom, but it fills you with a sort of confidence that sways your hips more.
He doesn’t really waste time; Once you’re out of the building and into an alleyway Peter’s tugging his mask in place and lifting you into his arms, eager to get you back to your shared apartment and out of your dress. He loves that dress on you, but right now, it’d look better on the floor.
There’s no faffing about as you land on the fire escape and Peter urges you inside, backpack and mask thrown on couch as he presses into you, lips smothering your own in a heated kiss. You move backwards with him, trusting him to guide you through the apartment and not lead you into a wall. His kisses twist from your lips to your jaw as you make it into the bedroom, nipping down your neck and over your sternum.
There’s very little talking as Peter turns you around and unzips your dress, pulling the red fabric from your body and letting it pool to the floor at your feet. Your strapless bra is next, unclipped and thrown to the side until all you are wearing are your shoes. You stand as patiently as you can, squirming on the spot as you wait for Peter’s next move.
“Fuck, baby, you’re so hot and all mine, right?” His fingertips skim over your shoulders, down your bare arms to twist with your own as he presses his front to your back. His excitement, hard and solid against you, as he presses kisses over your spine.
“All yours, Pete.” You sigh it out, head dropping back against his chest behind you as he nips across your skin.
“Promise?”
“Promise, only ever yours, I don’t want anyone else.” You’re pretty sure Peter Parker has ruined you for other people at this point. You’re pretty sure you’d only spend your life comparing them to him, if you can’t have Peter you might as well not have anyone.
“Mmm, me neither, baby…you’re my baby, I don’t need anyone else” It thrills you to hear it from him, that it’s just you. That other women, other men, other people don’t interest him. Peter’s all yours and it’s all you want and all you need.
He twists you in front of him, lips pressing down your chest and capturing a nipple between his teeth. The harsh tug causes a shaky breath to leave your throat as his fingers reach for your other breast.
You’re urged backwards towards the bed, stepping out of your dress and heels as he licks, bites and sucks at your chest, leaving an innumerable number of love bites over your body, to the point you’re sure someone might start worrying about you. You love it though, the purpling evidence across your body of his devotion to you, evidence of his hunger for your skin.
You gasp as he pushes you back to land on the bed with a bounce, before Peter covers you with his own body. He is warm and broad over you, all encompassing as he lifts one of your legs up to his hip. Still fully clothed you whine against him as he rocks into you, far too many layers separating the two of you.
“Pete, too many clothes!”
He tuts at you, “Oh no, you’re going to cum on my fingers before I get out of this suit, baby, think you can do that for me?” He wants to push you tonight, see how many orgasms he can wring from you before you’re tapped out and exhausted, till your cock drunk and unable to speak. Needs to make it up to you for that two hour wait, needs to make up for the fact he dragged you from the party after barely being there twenty minutes and the embarrassment you’re likely to feel later when you realise everyone at work saw you post-orgasm.
You shake your head no, but your lips form the word ‘yes’ over and over. Peter urges your hips up as he slides a pillow underneath them to prop them up. His fingers trail down your stomach, before his hand cups your cunt and two fingers press into you without hesitation. You’re still so wet and warm from before that he has no problem sliding them inside you as you grind against his palm. Heat wells in your belly and twists itself in delicious knots. Your skin feels hot again, like you’ve caught the worst sort of fever and there’s a corny joke somewhere in the back of your mind that just about avoids your lips.
“Baby…”
“I’ve got you, you know I've got you, sweet girl. Always got you.” He croons to you, lips hovering over your own, watching the way your eyes flutter shut as he presses into you and seeks out that spot again, thumb coming to circle your clit. Your hands grip his shoulders tight, without the layers of clothing your nails would be digging into his skin and he wishes he could feel it, the lash of pain across his back as you dig crescent moons into him, mark him as your own.
You twist in his arms when he finds it, that spongy spot that makes you keen and throw your head back into the mattress. Peter sits up on his knees to find his balance, fingers still pushing in and out of your cunt, thumb still pressing circles across your clit, just up and to the left where you’re most sensitive. His free hand wraps around your neck, finding its home there like so many times before. It’s careful, but firm as he presses onto the sides of your throat and feels you moan under his palm, the light pressure causing blood to rush to your ears, intensifying the feeling building in your belly and the slick against Peter’s fingers.
“There we go, baby. Look at you…so pretty, my pretty pretty baby.” He’s always like this, even when he’s teasing and rougher, Peter always croons praise at you like a song, a mantra. His words are sweet even as he pulls you apart from the inside out, a reminder that there is love and trust between you, that he loves you.
“Pete…” You’re not sure what you want to say, eyes opening halfway to watch him as he grins down at you, dimples pushing against his cheeks. He looks so hot like this, hand around your neck, still dressed to the nines, your lipstick smudged across his mouth like some sort of abstract painting.
“C’mon, baby girl, I know you can do it, cum for me, c’mon…I got’chu.” Peter increases the pace of his fingers, rougher, harder, faster, as he tightens his hand around your throat and watches as your eyes roll back into your head, body shaking as you cum for him. Your toes always curl when you cum, and your legs kick out, one knocking into his side roughly.
You shove his hands away from you for a moment, too sensitive for him to continue right away and watch as Peter brings his fingers to his mouth and sucks you from his fingers like his favourite dessert.
“Mmm, you always taste so good, baby, don’t you agree?” His mouth presses to yours soon after the question is posed, your mouth prised open by his tongue as you taste yourself on his lips. You moan into his mouth and chase his lips when he pulls back.
It doesn’t matter that you’ve cum twice tonight, you’re not satisfied, eyes trailing over his fully clothed form to stop on the bulge in his pants. Fuck, you want him inside you so bad, he’s drawn it out tonight, a tease.
“You want something, sweetheart?”
You nod your head vigorously, leaning up onto your elbows as he steps back from the bed, smirking at you. “You. Want you, Pete…”
“Want me where?” You watch as he grabs his tie in one hand, loosening it from his neck. You’re not sure when removing a tie became so attractive, but Peter makes it so. Even more so as buttons begin to be opened and his freckled skin begins to be revealed with each of them.
“In me. Want you in me, Pete.” Whatever embarrassment and bashfulness you had earlier has wilted and died along the way, two orgasms in and all you really want right now is his cock in your cunt as he leans over you with a hand around your throat.
“Mmm, think you got one more in you, baby?”
“Yes, yes…”
“Good girl, just be patient for me, mmm?” You nod your head and watch, squirming in place but patient as you watch Peter shrug his jacket from his shoulders and toss it unceremoniously across the room.
He’s slow as he unbuttons the cuffs of his shirt sleeves and finishes opening the buttons of his shirt. The white cotton slides from his shoulders like silk as it flutters to the ground. Your eyes follow the breadth of his shoulders, the lines of his torso, catching on familiar scars and freckles that you’ve kissed time and time again.
“You’re so handsome, baby.” You watch the warmth reach his face, red shadows across his cheeks and ears, always unused to a compliment, but that’s why you always took the time to make them. “You’re so hot, Peter…fuck…” Your voice breathy and in awe of this man, this man who loves you and fucks you and needs you, wants you.
“You that needy for me, sweet baby?” He’s tugging at his belt buckle, sliding the leather through the loops even with his dark eyes focused on you and he knows what you’re doing. You’re pushing back just a little bit. He’s teased you this entire time and now you’re trying to push back with your own, to get him to move quicker, it’s cute that you think you have any control here.
“Mmm, always needy for you, Pete.” You wriggle a little in place, the movement of your hips catching his eye and stopping his hands in their tracks as they reach for the fly of his pants. He takes a moment, letting you stew in the realisation that he's only slowed down and not sped up.
Your comments stop then, breath held as you return to patient silence, stilling your body even as your toes curl in anticipation. He begins again once you’re settled, trouser button popped and fly pulled down. Shoes kicked off before Peter steps out of his dress pants and boxers, bare before you.
He lets you get a good look in, your eyes trailing over his tall form, the slimness of his waist, his cock weeping against his stomach, hard and wanting. He’s been hard since the bathroom at the bar, Peter’s patience and self-restraint always astounding to you. You don’t have it in you, you’re always needy and impatient when it comes to him and your desires.
“You sure you’re up for one more, baby?” He asks as he makes his way to settle over you, arms on either side of your head, muscles bulging deliciously. He’s giving you an out, not that he’d ever continue anything without your permission. You know that about Peter intimately, he could be a second away from cumming and still he would pull out of you if you no longer wanted to keep going. It was that ability to trust in him that made it all so easy.
“Mmm, yeah, Pete, need you,”
“You got me, you got me, sweet girl.” Peter urges your legs up and around his hips, cock dragging through the slickness of your cunt, once again glad you're on the pill and the lack of barrier between the two of you. You’re so warm and wet that it takes him a moment to compose himself, the head of his cock teasing your clit as your fingers dig into his back. Your body burns in the best sort of way, the slide of him against you sending tingles up your spine, so sensitive at this point that even just the touch of him to your clit has you contorting.
Then he slides home, an easy slow thrust that has your hips lifting and nails carving crescent moons into his skin. Peter hisses at the tight clutch you have around his cock and the slight pain in his back, delicious and brilliant. He knows this is the last one, his restraint at the end of its tether.
“Fuckkk…you’re so wet, baby…” His forehead drops to your shoulder, hips beginning to rock into your own, the slow drag of his cock against your walls drawing a long moan from your throat. “This all for me?”
“Mmmhmmm, all for you…” You’re not sure your brain works anymore, if you’re being honest. You feel like you’re swimming in sensation, your brain a little hazy, senses only focused on Peter. The drag of him through your walls, the touch of his lips to your neck, the smell of his shampoo in your nose.
“You okay?” He chuckles at the way you look up at him a little dumb smile on your face, eyes half-lidded and hazy. He’d be worried if I hadn’t seen that look on your face before. This is definitely the last orgasm he’ll wring out of you tonight, anymore and it’d be pushing you past your breaking point. He can tell already.
“Mmm?”
“Just a little cockdumb, huh, baby? You like me filling you up?” You know he’s laughing at you, but you can’t really complain as he thrusts harder and surer with each rocking of his hips, can’t really complain when his hand is at your throat again, thumb pressing underneath your jaw and tilting your head to look at him. His eyes are so goddamn soft and warm, and fuck, he’s so handsome above you.
“Mmm, so good, Pete…not…”
“Not what, baby? Mmm, use your words for me.” You rock back into him, legs hiking further up his hips, dragging him deeper into you. The head of his cock hitting that spot in you as his hand slides down your body to your clit.
“Not gonna last, so close, baby.” You jerk in his arms, feeling overwhelmed, so sensitive and so, so warm as you clench around him at his fingertips circling your clit.
“You gonna cum for me? Where do you want me, sweet girl? Mmm? Where do you want me?” He’s close too, can feel the tightness in his stomach, but needs to know where you want him. Sometimes you don’t want the sticky feeling between your legs and sometimes you want him deep inside you. He has thoughts on it tonight too. Wants to cum in you and claim you, the only one to ever get to do it again. Not stupid men like David, they’ll never get the privilege, because it is a privilege to have you like this, to have your trust and submission to him.
Your gasping for air, body burning so bright that you can barely keep your eyes open and on his own. “Cum in me, please, please Pete, fill me up…baby…”
Thank fuck, Peter thinks, thank fuck you’re on the same page. His hand tightens around your throat, the other pressing roughly into your clit and rocking as deep as he can, barely pulling out of you, not wanting to miss this, miss cumming in you like you want, like he wants. “Mmm, want me to fill you up? Want me to fuck a baby into you? Our baby, huh?” Fuck, it’s a way off, he knows that. Knows you can’t get pregnant, knows that you need to get married first, get a bigger place, but shit if the idea doesn’t appeal to him. Taking you, filling you up with him, making a baby with you, your stomach round, tits growing. Fuck…He should be ashamed, but you’ve never let him feel bad about any impulse of his.
“Yes, fuck, yes, Pete..” It doesn’t matter that you’re on the pill, that you’re not going to get pregnant, it’s the thought that counts, the idea of him claiming you, being yours totally and wholly. Having a piece of him with you. Of a family with him, a baby with his eyes and that impossible ability to get in trouble.
“Gonna fill you up, baby, mark you up, make you mine, mmm? Wanna be mine?”
“Yours, only yours, Pete…” You kiss over his neck, sucking a mark, deep and purple into his skin. A little sad knowing it’ll disappear within a few hours, healing before you can truly enjoy the sight of it on his skin.
“Then cum for me, sweet girl” He lowers his mouth to your ear, whispers it low and sweet so close that it feels like you’re the only two people in the world, his hand around your throat tightens and you’re falling, tumbling, diving over your third end of the night. Cumming around him, you grip him so tight that it doesn’t take long for him to follow, stilling as he cums in you, filling you up like you both wanted.
The two of you gasp for breath, heaving chests as Peter lowers himself down onto you for a moment. The weight of him is a comfort as he softens inside you. Your hands trail over his back in soothing circles, the two of you just taking a moment to come down from it all.
“Need to get you cleaned up, baby…” Peter speaks first, pulling out of you, the discomfort of his spend slipping from your body made obvious by your grimace. He gets off of you and tucks his arms underneath you, lifting your body from the bed and making his way to the bathroom.
You’re both quiet as you stand under the warmth of the shower, taking turns to wash the other, soothing hands over bruise marks and broken skin. Hands washing the spend from your thighs and pressing soothing kisses to the marks on your hips, even as he smirks up at you, proud of himself, too proud.
You’re warm and lax when you finally curl up in bed with Peter, the covers cool against your skin, and Peter’s heartbeat solid beneath your ear.
“Sorry I was late…you did look beautiful tonight though.” You cuddle deeper into him. Not the least bit concerned about his lateness. You knew he’d be late, but he’d made it and in the end the look on Jessica’s face was worth the two hours waiting…so were the three orgasms.
“Think you more than made up for it, Pete…” You laugh at him, pressing a kiss to his chest and closing your eyes.
“Yeah?”“Mmm, I think I might not be able to walk tomorrow…”
“Good thing it’s a Sunday.” Good thing it’s Sunday indeed.
You find the roses he brought you two days later in Peter’s backpack, wilted and crumpled, neglected in favour of his lips on your cunt and hand around your throat like an obscene necklace.

What I listen to on repeat lol
Tumblr media
The two of you sat in silence on the rooftop of your apartment after his mask came off.
“Peter Parker,” you whispered endearingly under your breath, feasting your eyes on the now mask less man. Gosh, he was gorgeous. You lean towards him as the two of you sat together, wrapping your arms around yourself as you tried to keep warm and keep your composure after quite literally finding out Spider-Man’s identity. “Why do I feel like I already know you, Peter Parker?” you ask, moving your hair behind your ear, a puzzled look on your face.
To Peter, the moonlight made it look as if you had a halo around you, now completely convinced that you were in fact an angel. He smiled and sighed, leaning closer towards you, close enough to feel your breath. His eyes were warm and familiar as he gazed into yours, almost as if he was searching for something hidden in the flecks of your iris.
“Well, you see - that’s a long story,” he chuckled, nervously fidgeting with his mask in his hands. “I, uh - It’s actually uh- it’s actually a pretty crazy story. You might think I’m crazy,” his left hand quickly brushing through his hair, trying to laugh off his nerves. He looked at his mask as he rubbed the fabric in his hands, remembering it all; the downfall of Spider-Man after losing Gwen - becoming someone he didn’t recognize for years, how he’d been haunted by the feeling of holding Gwen’s lifeless body in his arms for a decade now. But then he remembers what happened three months ago - he remembers the other Peter Parkers that he met. His two brothers that inspired him to try again after all this time.
To be amazing. To be Peter Parker again.
He remembered Ned, and MJ.
MJ.
Sitting his mask in his lap, he cleared his throat, too afraid to look at you, “MJ, What if I told you we were meant to find each other? That I- I know without a shadow of a doubt we were supposed to meet?”
You caught your breath in the silence after he spoke, watching the man start to fidget. Something about Peter Parker felt so safe, so familiar. You felt like it didn’t even matter what he had to say. Whatever the story was, you already believed in him for some reason. You gently laid your left hand on top of his right hand that was fidgeting with his mask.
“Peter, I don’t think I can really be fazed anymore by crazy stories.. I’ve bartended for far too long now to be fazed by much,” you chuckle lightly, hoping he will feel comfortable enough to share. He matches your chuckle and looks up at you again, “it’s a long story, MJ” he says shaking his head, “I think it might be too much for y-“
“You have saved my life twice now, Peter Parker. Try me,” you say with a playful smirk, sniffling because you had gotten a bit too cold. You flash a smile at him, quickly sniffling again.
Peter adjusts and sits up away from the close huddle the two of you had, seeing your snotty red nose. “We have to get you warm, I don’t want you to get sick,” clearing his throat, he looks towards the city, “Can I take you home?”
Had you said something to upset him? Though confused, you say sure.
He looks down at his mask again, “I don’t want to be the reason that you get sick or, or - or hurt.” He shakes his head, quickly putting his mask on and standing up, walking towards the edge of the roof, hands on his hips. “Maybe it’s best we just forget about tonight,” he exhales, knowing deep down that this is what is for the best. For your safety.
You stand up and slowly approach where he stood on the roof. His slender, yet muscular silhouette was perfectly outlined by the bright lights below. “I’m ready when you are, Spider-Man,” you murmur with a soft smile as you stood beside him, the both of you now looking out at the buzzing city below.
Peter’s heart ached when you called him Spider-Man and not by his name. He didn’t want tonight to end this way. He didn’t want his grief and anger to ruin yet another good thing.
He just wanted you.
His MJ.
Finally turning towards you, he stands up tall, “here,” he tenderly takes your hand and places it on his broad shoulder, slowly extending his arm securely around your waist, seamlessly hoisting you onto his hip. Your arms wrapped around his neck as you turn to him, now face to face. “Atta girl, MJ,” he says with a tender voice, checking for his own peace of mind that you were safe in his arms. “Hold on tight,” he breaths, taking off running and quickly shooting webbing from his left wrist, still holding you tightly in his right arm.
You scream and shut your eyes as he starts to swing through the air, gaining a giggle from a masked Peter. “You okay?” All you could do is nod. “Good girl,” he hummed, slowly swinging closer and closer to the ground below, now a few yards from your apartment.
“Open your eyes,” he whispers as you cling to him. “Look up at the stars,” he says, slowly lowering the two of you to the front stoop of your alley way apartment. You finally open your eyes, marveling at the sky while being lowered through the air, somehow clinging tighter to Peter than you were before, getting yet another chuckle from the man behind the mask.
“Here you are,” Peter says with a grunt as his feet land gently on the concrete stoop of your apartment. He slowly assists you out of his arms and makes sure to place your feet delicately on the ground, almost as if you were crafted from porcelain. Your arms were still wrapped around his neck, now chest to chest with him. He was so tall. Your heart started to race, unsure of where you stood with the hero.
“Is there anything I can do to repay you, Spider-Man?” You ask exactly as you did three weeks ago.
You didn’t say his name.
Peter’s entire body seemed to ache as he shook his head.
You being alive was enough. Telling you everything would just put you in harms way.
“Nah,” he deflects, “Just doing my job, ma’am,” he jokingly salutes and waves as he backs away from your front door. “I’ll see you around.”
“I really hope so,” you say, your heart breaking as he slowly backs away from you. He turns and shoots a web towards the roof.
“Did I do something, Peter?” You ask gingerly, feeling warm tears fill your sad eyes, still so confused why he took you home so suddenly. “I’m so sorry if I said something to upset you.”
Peter’s skin seemed to sting, sensing that you were now crying.
“You saved me twice and I-“ your voice cracked, “I’m sorry I said what I said earlier, I just - I’m sorry, Peter.”.
Peter turned towards you, quickly running back to your door. “No, no, no, no, no. You have done nothing wrong,” he says quickly, shaking his head as he rips off his mask, now face to face with you. He pointed towards your front door, “I’ll go in there right now and I’ll tell you everything, MJ. You - you’ve done nothing wrong. Not in the slightest. I’m dead serious, I - I - I’ll tell you all of it. Okay?”
Your breath was shaky as you wiped tears from your cheeks, “okay. I just don’t want to make you uncomfor-“
He silenced you with a quick hug, almost as if he were clinging to you. His back hunched because of the height difference. He inhaled shakily through his nose, taking in your scent as his head nuzzled into your cold neck. “I’m sorry,” he breathed into you before slowly pulling away.
You looked up at his handsome face and nodded, then unlocked your front door, “I’ll make us drinks. Come inside,” you motioned, walking into your cozy apartment, Peter following closely behind you, triple checking that your front door was locked.
———
It took three hours for Peter to explain everything to you. You barely spoke for you were too enthralled in his story, absorbing every word.
Peter paced as he explained, he told you his story from the beginning; his parents disappearing, getting the bite and his powers, his time at Oscorp. You both cried when he talked about Gwen’s death, along with his Uncle Ben and then his Aunt May dying, then who he turned into afterwards.
He continues, telling you in detail about what happened during his short time in the multiverse and how it had helped him to grieve and have closure with Gwen’s death.
“There’s something I haven’t told you though,” Peter gulped, finally sitting down beside you on your dark green living room sofa. “What is it?” You question, thinking there isn’t possibly anything else that could shock you more than what he’s already told you.
“Well,” he breathed, shutting his eyes and lowering his head, “Peter 1 - the Peter that I helped in the other universe.. he had - someone. Someone special. And her- uh.. her..“ he trailed off.
“What about Peter 1’s someone special?” You ask.
“Her name,” he whispers, now looking back up and locking eyes with yours. “Her name is MJ.”

God, I wish that you had thought this through
Before I went and fell in love with you
The knock on your window startled you as you were packing your things into a cardboard box, a smile spread across your face when you saw that it was Spider – Man. A few months ago the superhero had fallen into your garden, dressed in red and blue, and missing his mask. He had been hurt and he needed help. Obviously, you weren’t a doctor but you patched him up as best you could and sent him on his way, but every time he was in the neighbourhood he came to see you.
You put the box down and walked over to your window, opening it with a grin, “hi, Peter,” you stood aside to let him climb through the window.
“Hey, Y/N,” he grinned as he pulled off his mask to reveal his handsome face, you blushed as he pulled you into a hug, “how are you?” he smiled, leaning against the wall.
You tried to stop your eyes from ogling him but it was hard when he was smiling at you like that with his hair all messy, “I’m good, how about you? Are you hurt?”
You walked closer to him, looking for any sign that he was hurt, Peter shook his head with a small smile as he brushed his knuckles against your cheek, “just some bruised ribs, I’m okay.”
You smiled, looking away from his eyes to look at his mouth and you looked back at his eyes, “make sure you put some ice on it.”
“Of course, Doctor Y/N,” he smiled, kissing your cheek as he pulled away from you and went to sit on your bed.
You touched the place where he’d kissed you to find that it was warm, you wanted him, you wanted to kiss him properly but you couldn’t. You couldn’t ruin your friendship so you had to wait until he made the first move. He’d been coming to see you all this time, surely he had to harbour more than friendly feelings for you. How you wished that could be true.
He looked around at the boxes with interest, “are you moving or something?” he asked as you sat next to him.
You sighed and nodded your head, your family was moving upstate to Midtown for your dad’s new job, it was too far for him to commute. You didn’t want to move, you’d miss your school and your friends, you didn’t want to have to start afresh, “yeah, upstate,” you sighed, you’d really miss Peter too.
Instead of matching your glum energy, Peter smiled brightly, “I think you’ll love it upstate, it’s cool! And we’ll still be able to hang out, I’ll come and see you in your new place, if that’s okay of course,” he added quickly before he mumbled, “don’t wanna be a stalker or anything.”
You laughed with a nod, delighted that he still wanted to see you, you bit your lip as you gained the courage for what you knew you had to say, “why don’t you take my number?” you blushed, “then, you won’t have to search for the new place,” you laughed and shifted on the bed, you knee touching his.
The only reason why you knew Peter was because he kept coming to see you, you wouldn’t have known him any other way.
Your heart dropped when Peter gave you a pained smile, “a number comes with too many promises.”
“Like what, Peter?” you bit your lip as you watched the conflict play across Peter’s face.
“Promises that I can’t keep, look, Y/N,” he sighed sitting up and tucking your hair behind your ear, “I like you a lot, but I’m not looking for anything right now, not with the whole Spider-Man thing. Please, understand,” he pressed his warm lips against your cheek again.
Peter’s words were still ringing in your ears as you watched him climb back through the window later on that night. You watched him swing away on his webs with a heavy heart until he was nothing but a speck in the distance.
About a month later you were looking down the hallways of your new school with a confused look on your face. It was your first day and you were very, very lost, you were too anxious to ask anyone for their help. You were about to go wandering again when you noticed a very familiar looking boy taking photographs just in front of you. Happiness and perhaps a little bit of astonishment filled your body.
“Peter?” you called out, grinning when he put his camera down with a raised eyebrow, you couldn’t believe that he was actually here.
“Y/N!” he said with a shocked smile as you ran up to him and threw your arms around him, feeling his chuckle rumble in his chest. God, you loved his laugh, “what are you doing here?” he asked as he pulled away from you.
“I told you I was moving upstate, it’s my first day at this school,” you smiled.
“Wow, it, it’s so good to see you,” he smiled, almost looking dumbfounded.
You melted at his words, “look, Peter. I,” you blushed, hesitating as he looked at you with those gorgeous brown eyes. You wanted to tell him how you felt, you needed to tell him how you felt. You laughed nervously when Peter raised an eyebrow, “you see, the thing is,” you trailed off when a beautiful girl with white blonde hair walked up to Peter.
“Hey, you, who’s this?” she asked, looking at you with a kind smile.
Your eyes flickered over to Peter who was looking at you with an unreadable expression on his face, “Gwen, this is my friend, Y/N, it’s her first day. Y/N, this is my girlfriend, Gwen.”
Your heart dropped and sank to your stomach like a stone, quickly you managed to recover with a strained smile as Gwen spoke to you, “it’s nice to meet you, Y/N. How are you liking Midtown so far?” Gwen smiled and you watched her link her fingers through Peter’s with a sick feeling in your stomach.
“It’s nice to meet you too,” you forced a smile, fighting back the tears in your eyes, “I like it, though I’d like it more if I could find my class. Speaking of, I’d better find it,” you glanced up at the happy couple and pushed past them without waiting for an answer. You walked with your head down, finally letting the tears streak down your cheeks.
Peter cornered you at the end of the day while you were putting your books into your locker, “Y/N,” he started with a guilty look on his face.
“Leave me alone, Peter,” you sniffed as you slammed your locker door shut.
“Y/N, please!” he grabbed your arm gently as you tried to walk away from him.
You whirled round to look at him and scoffed when you saw that he looked like a wounded puppy, “don’t you dare look at me like that!” you hissed. Is this what it felt like to have your heart broken? “I feel like such an idiot, I thought you liked me. I tried not to look too much into it. But, I wanted to be sure,” you didn’t want him to see you cry but it was too late, “you kissed me Peter. Twice.”
“On the cheek. It was a friendly kiss, I do like you as a friend, you’re my friend, Y/N,” he sighed, running his hands through his hair.
Anger rose in your chest, mingling with the sadness, “then why did you lie? You told me that you weren’t looking for anything. But, you were, just not with me,” your bottom lip wobbled, “you should have told me, Peter. You should have told me the truth, you can’t have been blind to my affections for you, not after all these months.”
“I’m so sorry, I never meant to hurt you,” he reached out for you but you backed away.
“That’s okay, I guess it just wasn’t meant to be,” you wiped your tears and your voice broke, “she’s beautiful, Peter. Gwen, really is beautiful.”
Peter nodded as he looked away from you, with a sigh you shook your head as you walked down the corridor, pausing to glance over your shoulder, “Peter?” with a hopeful sort of look, Peter looked up at you, “I don’t want to see you, or Spider-Man for that matter,” you looked away as a wave of sadness washed over you.
And that was how you left him, staring after you in that deserted corridor. So much for a first day.

First Kiss
[Andrew Garfield Peter Parker x reader]
Tumblr media
“Ugh! Why do you have to be so difficult!” You screamed at your math homework, practically throwing it across the room. You needed a break, so you decided sit on your balcony and get some fresh air.
You watched the city below you, your mind slowly calming down from the stress of your homework. You then saw a red and blue streak, swinging through the city. You smiled, recognizing the streak as Spider-Man. He had been around for almost a two years now. A while back he had disappeared, but he returned and continued to save the city.
Spider-Man had now disappeared into an alleyway and your gaze landed on the Empire State Building, it was beautiful and you loved living in New York.
Breaking you out of your day dreams, your phone started to ring from inside your bedroom, where your messy university homework laid. You went back inside and picked up your phone.
You smiled at the caller ID, “Hello Peter,” you said, running a hand through your hair and putting your right hand in the back pocket of your jeans.
“Hey, I’ll be over in a few minutes to study. I had to run a couple errands...” he trailed off, vaguely. You looked at your homework and then at yourself in the mirror, “Oh it’s fine, I was taking a break anyway,” you replied. He chucked, “Okay, see you in five,” he said, then hanging up.
You looked down at your phone, the picture of Peter you had taken in Central Park was your wallpaper. You blushed seeing his smiling face. Peter Parker was your best friend and your crush, but you know he didn’t feel the same way. Not only had he lost someone romantically close to him last year but you probably weren’t even his type.
In Peters eyes, you were exactly his type. He wanted to be more than just friends but he knew that some of his enemies knew who he really was, if they saw him getting close to someone he really cared about they could be a target. He didn’t want you to get hurt so he never asked you out or revealed his feelings. This was extremely hard for him to do, because you were so close, you always studied together.
Peter was mesmerized by you when you would study. The way you would chew on the top of your pen or pencil. The way you ran your hand through your hair when you were really concentrating. He loved everything about you and wanted so desperately to have you in his arms. But he needed to keep you safe, even if he knew you would never feel the same.
Peter had arrived just in time. You moved your homework to your kitchen table and made you and Peter each a glass of iced tea. Handing him the glass he mumbled a thank you. “So what question are you on?” Peter asked, looking next to you to see your paper. “Question five,” you huffed, the stress of the math problem coming back to you.
“Oh this is easy, you just have to find out how they got 243,” Peter explained. You looked at the problem again and it all became clear.
“Really, that’s it? Oh my god, you do, how the hell did I not see that before,” you laughed, taking your pencil and quickly solving the equation. Peter watched you as you worked out the problem, butterflies filled his stomach. You were absolutely adorable.
He giggled and you looked up, “What?” You asked, giggling yourself.
“Nothing,” Peter shrugged off.
You nudged him, “Oh come on, tell me,” you replied.
He shook his head, smiling, “I can’t, I want to but I can’t,” he admitted.
This made you more curious, “That doesn’t make any sense, Peter.” You said. “Just tell me,” you added.
“I think your laugh is adorable. I loved the way your eyes lit up when your figured out the solution to the problem. I think your the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen and-,” he said, but you cut him off with your lips.
It was impulsive, yes, but he said all of those beautiful words with those big puppy dog eyes. How could you not kiss him. You began to pull away but he pulled you closer to him, kissing you back. It was sweet but then became passionate, like what happened after the ‘ they lived happily ever after’ title card.
You both pulled away for air, your lips swollen from kissing your best friend. “I’m-um, I didn’t mean to-wow,” you stuttered.
Peter nervously rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah wow is um-right yeah,” he said, trying to focus on something else besides your lips.
You both instinctively leaned in again and another mini make out session began.
“This is probably not a good idea,” Peter whispered in between kisses.
“Why not?” You replied, confused.
“Well, we’re supposed to be studying,” he said, but really he didn’t want you to get hurt for being close to him.
“You helped me understand the problem. I’ll look at my notes again,” you shrugged, leaning into kiss him again.
Peter couldn’t take the guilt anymore and pulled away, “I can’t, I’m sorry,” he said, grabbing his jacket and leaving.
You watched him leave your apartment in shock , what the hell had just happened.
Four Days Later
After the kiss Peter ignored you. He wouldn’t answer any of your calls or texts. Finally you decided to just go over to his house. Knocking on the front door, Aunt May opened the door.
“Y/n, it’s wonderful to see you. Please come in,” she said sweetly. “Thank you. I’m here to see Peter. Is he here?” You asked.
Aunt May nodded, “Yes, I believe he’s in his room,” she replied. You said thank you again, then walking upstairs to Peter’s room.
It was closed so you knocked, “Peter, it’s Y/n. I need to talk to you,” you said.
No answer.
“Peter I want to apologize for any inconvenience I caused,” you added.
No answer.
You huffed under your breath, “Peter Parker, I’m sorry!” You yelled. You then noticed the door wasn’t fully closed and you lightly pushed it open, “Peter?” You asked. But no one was in the room.
The window was open, “Unbelievable,” you mumbled, upset.
As you turned to leave, a red and blue streak swung into the room. It was Spider-Man. He didn’t know you were there and he took off his backpack and then his mask. He turned around and you came face to face with your best friend.
“Oh my god,” you said in shock. Peter’s eyes went wide upon seeing you.
“Y/n? What are you doing here?” He asked.
“Your Spider-Man!!” You shrieked. He shushed you and fully closed his door. “Yeah,” he replied, still confused.
“Why are you here?” He asked. “I wanted to apologize for upsetting you after we kissed,” you admitted, a little embarrassed but still shocked that your best friend was Spider-Man.
“Y/n don’t be sorry. I liked kissing you, it was one of best kisses I’ve ever had. I just can’t be with you,” he said.
“Why? Because your Spider-Man,” you scoffed.
“Yeah,” he replied.
“That’s bullshit, Peter. We like each-other, why can’t we be together?” You asked.
“You could get put into danger because of me. You could get hurt,” he explained.
You huffed, waking closer to him, “I am not a damsel in distress,” you replied.
Peter walked closer to you, “I never said you were. I just don’t want anything bad to happen to you because of me,” he said, putting his hand on your cheek.
“Nothing will happen to me. I’m staying, as long as you want me. I’m yours,” you said, embracing his touch.
“I want you,” Peter whispered, leaning into kiss you.

This is going to be an unpopular opinion but...
I feel like the people who complain about MCU Spider-Man only being Tony Stark Jr. have missed the entire point of the MCU Spider-Man movies. It's a lot of discourse coming from the Marvel gatekeep fans that dislike how popular things have gotten. The... "I liked it before it was cool" fans that are super upset that all these young people are into something they also like (instead of seeing it for the positive it is - more merch! More content! Easier to find things about it! And more people you can chat with about things! It's great!). Everything HAS to be an argument over which Spidey’s been better because we can't just let people enjoy things.
But my point.
In Captain America: Civil War Spidey has a very small role to play and a lot of it is a supporting one. But the entire point (in my opinion) of Tony Stark having proof that Spider-Man already exists in New York is to show that Peter Parker would be a hero even without Tony’s tech. The tech is just there to give him the suit (which, I get it, people are salty Peter doesn't have kick ass sewing skills 🙄). It's also stated in their first meeting that Peter makes his own webs and his own webshooters. So he may not have got to the point where he made his own suit but this kid was smart and talented and capable (and younger than both Tobey and Andrew's Peter - approx 14 in CW compared to 17 and college aged).
In Spider-Man: Homecoming Peter rocks that Stark Tech suit. But he also hacks it. He also repeatedly makes phone calls to try and get Tony’s attention to a problem he thinks is worse than it seems on the surface. He's 15 and he feels things like a 15 year old. But okay, I get it, you're mad that he has Tony Stark as a mentor instead of Uncle Ben (so am I but mostly because I want Uncle Ben and not because I'm really mad about the mentor thing). Oh? Wait? That's not it? It's because... he's not expected to figure it all out on his own?
Only that's where you're... kind of wrong. Aside from Ned, Peter rarely received any help against Toomes at all. And it wasn't because Tony didn't care it was just because Peter was 15 and Toomes was good at hiding things.
My big point - big big point - about HOCO is that Peter doesn't beat Toomes (Vulture) until AFTER Tony takes the suit away. He doesn't beat him with the help of SI tech. He beats him AS SPIDER-MAN. There's even the iconic, stuck under a building, "come on, Spider-Man" scene where Peter realizes that he needs to be BE this hero in order to save the city. And not in a big way like Tobey or Andrew always was - Toomes wasn't trying to destroy New York. But he WAS selling weapons to people across the city to hurt dozens of others. Peter was literally being the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man we all want him to be. And he did that. Without a suit. Without any tech that wasn't of his own invention. And he even saved the bad guy's life. No one died that day.
But, okay, whatever, that's not your problem either. It's Far From Home. Okay, let's break that down.
Peter helping out SHIELD? I mean I get it but also there's literally a cartoon where that happens and no one complains. He also does it a few times in the comics. Oh wait, no it's the Tony Stark connection again. I get it. You don't like Tony Stark. Chill, guys, it's not that out of character. Peter Parker always looked up to the guy.
"He needed Stark's tech to beat Mysterio". Uh... tell me you didn't watch the movie without telling me you didn't watch the movie.
The entire point of FFH - as far as I took it - was Peter learning to trust himself again. He falls again and again and again for Mysterio's tricks because he doesn't listen to himself. He doesn't trust his "Spidey Sense" (aka Peter Tingle lmao) because of PTSD due to the events in both Infinity War and Endgame. The only way he beats Mysterio in the end is by TRUSTING HIMSELF. When he closes his eyes in that scene against the drones? He's not using tech to figure out where they are - he's using his Spidey Sense. When he stops Mysterio from shooting him? He's using his Spidey Sense. The entire story of FFH was that he was relearning to trust in his own powers and instincts and believing that he was still a hero even after having let down his hero (in his own mind).
I think I see the real issue. Other than the one i pointed out where we're mad what we liked is now more commercialized and popular - MCU Peter Parker has a pretty strong support system. He doesn't only have Aunt May but he has Ned and MJ, Tony Stark for a bit, Happy Hogan, etc. He works hand in hand with the Avengers.
All I'm saying is you can't argue that MCU Peter Parker is a terrible Spider-Man because he works with Tony Stark and then choose to ignore the fact that he beat both of his villains in both of his solo movies without using that tech.
And this post isn't to say that Tobey and Andew were terrible either. They were and are all great Spider-Men in their own unique ways (and let's be honest, Into the Spider-Verse was 100% the best Spider-Man movie out of the bunch and Miles Morales deserves a lot more love).
Why is it so hard to let people enjoy things without turning into a fandom discourse fight?

His MJ,
spoilers for NWH
AN: So, NWH has reawakened my spider-man obsession, specifically my love for Andrew's Peter Parker. After seeing it four times now, let me tell you how I fell for this boi and want him to find his MJ, and his second chance at love, cause OOOOFFFFF did his scenes make me feel for him lol.
I've always loved Peter/Gwen over Peter/MJ but mcu's version made me like MJ more as a charater, even though she's so different from the comics. I really want to write a versiono of her that I can see Andrew's Peter with. I'm not sure how long this fic will be but I have a basic plot outlined for this story and I hope you'll like it :)
also, this is my first time posting from the app so I hope the formatting isn't god aweful!

Chapter 1- Her Weird Roommate, Peter Parker
Being roommates with Peter Parker came with some oddities, MJ had come to learn over the last year. It was odd in the sense that Peter Parker was reliably strange, a little zany, and often left you questioning if all the lights were on upstairs. He was a great guy, respectful and even though he was a little messy, he was a great roommate; probably the best she’d ever had.
MJ didn’t think that at first of course. She remembered the first few weeks of living together. She’d almost strangled her bandmate for setting her up with him when her last roommate left her suddenly. Her former roommate, a girl MJ had nothing in common with, screwed her over for that months rent to go off on a back packing trip with her new boyfriend.
MJ still scoffed at it, but thought about getting a second job if it meant she didn’t have to live every night thinking that someone was breaking into her house.
Parker had some vendetta against doors, seemingly only ever using his window as an entry and only ever at late hours into the night. He’d play it off, saying it was quicker to use the fire escape. MJ would find herself staring at him, eye twitching as she gripped a baseball bat, still ready to fend off an intruder.
MJ grew accustomed to his weird antics, brushing it off and laughing as she grew to get to know him more; the two winding up becoming close friends. She also couldn’t help but give him a pass when he looked at her with those heart fluttering brown eyes.
But there were still moments were even his good looks couldn’t get a pass from her.
He’d gone missing again, longer than normal, nearly a whole two days since he’d shown his face in their Midtown apartment. And it was also the state he’d come home in that made MJ stop and really question him.
“You’re my MJ.” He kept muttering to himself, eyes continuing to flash to her than his hands as he sat on the couch, as if he was lost in his own little world, and not believing what he was seeing.
“Peter!” MJ snapped her fingers in his face, breaking him out of it.
He looked at her fully, making her falter for a second, finding herself with butterflies in her stomach. She hadn’t realized how close she’d gotten to his face trying to get his attention. The cuts on his face were her snap in the face although.
“What happened do you? Where’d you go? Are you okay?” She heard herself ask but was already rushing to get the first aid kit in the bathroom, letting her guitar case hit the floor. The girls would kill her for being late to practice but they’d have to deal with it.
The sound of the her clunky boots against their beat up wood floors alerted Peter. He reached out to catch it before it fell, knowing how important the instrument inside was to her. He was focused now, the previous events he just experienced somehow pushed in the back of his mind as he now stood. He hid the wince he let out from her by covering it up with a yawn.
“I’m fine.” He tried reassuring her as she returned. He laughed as she lightly pushed him back to sit on the couch so she could start cleaning his cuts. He tried shaking her off, suddenly aware of how close they were. “I fell skateboarding.”
“Your skateboard’s been thrown in the hall since like last weekend. Nice try, tiger.” She glared at him, motioning to the board left discarded to a corner.
He pulled a face, not from the sting of the antiseptic but from the nickname. He’d never put much thought behind it before, but found himself liking the sound of it falling off her lips. He winced once more, embarrassed by his thoughts. Peter shook his head, grabbing her hand with his, taking the cotton swab out of her grasp and into his own. What was he doing? This was his MJ. And he and his MJ were just friends. Just friends.
“I got it.” He stood, ignoring her angry eyes. “I’m fine okay. It’s Tuesday, don’t you have to be at practice?” He tried to reassure her, feeling guilty for having her run late.
“The girls will understand.” She tried to lie not to him but herself. They had a show this weekend. They had to practice. “You need to tell me what happened. Did someone do this to you?” She was worried, further adding to his guilt.
He let out a sigh, getting ready to use his regular lie and excuse to explain his injuries. “No, no. No one did this. I-uh- I was trying to get pictures of Spider-man, for work. And I fell.”
“You fell? Peter from how high? Dude, do you have a concussion?” she was even more worried now.
“A rafting…” he wasn't completely lying.
“Peter,” MJ started, pinching the bridge of her nose. She stopped, shaking her head, letting her red hair fall in front of her face. She stopped herself from further lashing out. She knew it wouldn’t help any. “Are you sure you’re okay? Do you need me to take you to the emergency room?”
“Well I don’t have health insurance and I only have like $40 to my name, so I’d prefer you not to.” He joked, trying to lighten up the tension.
MJ couldn’t help but laugh at him, muttering something about that being a mood before bending down to grab her guitar case once more. She grabbed her backpack as well, heading to the door without pushing the subject anymore. As she opened the door, she turned to look at him once more.
“Don’t go to sleep right away, stay up for a bit just to be safe, okay?” she asked. “Call me if you need anything. I should be home in a few hours.”
MJ couldn’t help but think how strange Peter had acted as she took the train to practice, even for him. The look he gave her when he first stumbled out of his room, as if they were something more than roommates, as if they were something more than friends. She tried to get rid of the thought, drumming the rhythm to a song against her thigh and leaning back in her seat. He was probably just acting weirder than usual because he hit head from how ever high he was.
She rolled her eyes, grabbing her headphones out of her backpack and tuning her thoughts out with loud, pounding music. But she found herself able to stop though. The way he said it, how possessive, yet unsure, as well as enlightened, struck a cord in her.
His MJ,
