I see where the 'dragons are nukes' people are coming from in terms of the total devastation dragons are capable of in battle and in the hands of those that want to use them in such a way.
However, dragons are clearly meant to symbolize more than just their raw power in wartime. dragons are fire made flesh, dragons are Summer, dragons are flight and freedom, dragons are playful and warm, dragons are life in defiance of winter. dragons are the strength needed to break chains, topple corruption, and burn evil itself. dragons are flaming swords and lightbringers. dragons are loyalty and protectiveness. dragons are passion and mystery and magic.
dragons are the opposite end of the magical spectrum to the others.
and dragons are, above all else, lizard cats that like to bask in the sun and get scratches on the underside of their chins.

i love how quickly we have circled from jackie was the worst and a terrible friend to shauna who didn’t do anything wrong to actually maybe shauna was a bad friend sometimes to jackie who wasn’t perfect but loved shauna and did her best back to actually shauna was better than jackie and here’s why. it feels like if you talk about jackie being a good person and shauna not being the perfect uwu she’s made out to be in the fandom and examine their relationship under that lens then it’s assumed you’re blaming shauna instead and vice versa. oh now we’ve got to jump to defend x person bcus that person defended y person and like. that’s not what the show wants you to do. it’s not what it’s about. there’s no either/or they’re trying to make you pick. they aren’t trying to tell us someone was worse. it’s actually okay to talk about the ways they both loved each other and the ways they both hurt each other and fucked up without it meaning one of them is more awful. if we say jackie was caring it does not mean shauna is not. if we say shauna did this thing wrong it doesn’t mean she is a horrible person and there’s no redeeming qualities in her and she’s completely to blame. if it’s pointed out that shauna sees Jackie through a lens that’s not quite showing true reality, that doesn’t mean anyone is saying jackie was perfect. it’s just an odd way to respond to this show that’s using the setting to examine girlhood and girl friendships and all its extremities and contradictions. this person is a bad friend and a good friend. this person is a bad person and a good person. this person loves deeply and hurts deeply. this person cares in this way and fucks up in this way. it’s all true and all real and all exists at the same time in one person. there is no war to be had here about who is worse and who is better. they are both worse. they are both better.

does anyone who hates on shane for “not recovering” after getting married know anything about harm reduction? quitting an addiction can be exhausting, difficult, and even dangerous. harm reduction is basically allowing an addict an amount of what they were formally addicted to as a way to keep them from harming themselves/going through withdrawals. so that’s what i personally see shane doing by still drinking after getting married.

trans men hide their indicators of sex (binding, packing) because its a source of shame. trans women dont (and in fact youre supposed to be thankful for their bulge) because its a source of empowerment
now why would female biology be a shame and male biology be inherently empowering hm?

I'm trying to understand what happened - apparently the main folks behind Disco Elysium were pushed out of the company by the investors or something? What the hell?
facts:
the ZA/UM cultural association (an artist collective comprised of the original DE team) has been dissolved (source)
studio ZA/UM (the company they created) still exists, but some of the original team no longer work there. according to the medium post, their leaving the company was involuntary and happened in late 2021
rumours:
og team were forced out by New Money who invested in disco elysium post-release
no future works set in the DE universe for the foreseeable future
money ruins everything

matpat doing his Big Deltarune Theory on the “Player Is The True Villain/Final Boss” concept kind of just makes me feel more validated in thinking that theory is silly lmao

i do like villains/dubiously moral ocs but the real person behind those characters and their feelings are always more important to me
