trans men hide their indicators of sex (binding, packing) because its a source of shame. trans women dont (and in fact youre supposed to be thankful for their bulge) because its a source of empowerment
now why would female biology be a shame and male biology be inherently empowering hm?

Author: sorry for this shit
It's amazing how a simple pastime can turn into an extraordinary opportunity.
My world, where I enjoyed imitating movie characters in online videos, was shaken by the surprising news from Tim Burton. The master of dark cinema personally chose me for a role in the second season of Wednesday Addams. The transition from a simple pastime to a set with a professional cast, a renowned director, and a real dressing room is something I could never have imagined.
I was nervous as I watched the cast of the first season, observing me with enthusiasm and joy, new faces to see and integrate into the plot. I felt like a deer caught in the headlights, taken aback by all this unexpected attention.
"Welcome!" Hunter, a guy with puffy brown hair and a perpetual smile, extends his hand to greet me. With a small smile on my lips, I accept the greeting and chuckle with embarrassment. "Thanks," I reply with flushed cheeks, not sure why I should thank him.
"Finally! I was tired of always working with the same faces," Joy intervenes with a smile on her lips. The girl had a drink in hand and raises it to her mouth, drinking its contents. "You're always friendly, Joy," George, a guy with curly hair and sweet coffee-colored eyes, smiles at his friend with amusement. "Welcome," he adds, smiling broadly.
"Hi!" My eyes turn to the sound of the voice, and I see a girl with short brown hair and piercing blue eyes. I smile nervously, recognizing Emma Mayers: the actress was notably more beautiful in person. "You must be my new love interest," she adds, widening her lips in a beautiful smile, blue eyes looking at me attentively. "Yes..." I chuckle weakly, nervous.
I can't deny that the fact that I'm her new love interest embarrasses me: I'm not entirely sure I can pretend to flirt or kiss someone for pretend. I shudder at the mere thought. "Well, because George was a terrible experience," she says, smiling mischievously, trying to downplay the situation.
"I love you too, Em," the guy called George intervenes, rolling his eyes at her comment. The blonde laughs, and the sound of her laughter makes me shiver slightly, increasing my nervousness and causing the blood flow to stop on my cheeks. "I know," Emma sticks her tongue out at George, and he imitates the gesture.
My attention is captured by a couple talking to each other, conspiring who knows what. The guy laughs softly and puts his arm around the shoulders of the shorter girl who looks at him with a small smile on her lips. I recognize the couple as Jenna Ortega and Percy White. I had heard rumors of a possible romance between them, but I thought it was nothing more than a rumor: I knew the media always wanted to meddle in the lives of the famous, spreading gossip and causing a stir on the web with sensational news. But the way they look at each other and touch makes me feel a lump in my throat.
Percy directs his gaze at me and smiles broadly.
"Hi!" The brunette takes his arm off Jenna's shoulders and walks towards me. "Welcome, we're glad to have a new addition to the cast," he says, smiling with genuine happiness and kindness.
Jenna's eyes are fixed on me, and my body is suddenly invaded by shivers and excitement, my heart beating wildly. The series' protagonist approaches with an enormous smile on her lips, and my knees wobble at the beauty she radiates: Brown eyes, dazzling smile, dimples on her cheeks, and freckles surrounding her face.
"Welcome," Jenna smiles genuinely and wraps her arms around my neck, hugging me tenderly. I reciprocate the hug with surprise, sighing audibly at the moment I feel her perfume invade my nostrils. The scent of what seemed like vanilla made me smile timidly.
Jenna breaks the hug and smiles genuinely at me.
"Want to take a tour of the place?" Emma intervenes quickly, approaching us. Jenna looks at her co-star with curiosity and simply takes a step back, getting close to Percy, always glued to this guy. I sigh audibly and smile at the blue-eyed girl with enthusiasm, nodding. Emma smiles triumphantly and takes my wrist. "Can I join?" Hunter says eagerly, and George looks at us attentively.
"Me too," George says pouting, and Emma nods enthusiastically.
(...)
Three weeks have passed since my arrival, and despite having a great relationship with the entire cast, Jenna, Emma, and I were practically inseparable. My feelings are a whirlwind of chaos and insecurity, not knowing exactly which girl to choose. Emma, a beautiful and friendly girl who is always ready to help me when needed, or Jenna, the stunning brunette, kind, and affectionate, but suspected to be linked with Percy.
I tried talking to George and Hunter, and both advised me to make a decision before ruining the friendship between Jenna and Emma. I didn't even know if they felt the same, and the idea of choosing one of them scared me. The most selfish part of me suggested keeping both, but my heart didn't want to suffer and, above all, feel guilty.
"Hey," I divert my attention from my thoughts and unconsciously smile when I see Jenna standing near me. "Can I sit?" She asks curiously, chewing her lip nervously.
My eyes carefully watch her gesture.
"Sure," I say, taking off my sweatshirt and placing it behind my chair. Jenna adjusts herself and crosses her legs, her thigh pressing against mine. "Are you going over the scene?" She asks curiously, her eyes watching the script in my hands. Shivers run down my spine feeling the contact of her leg with mine, the warmth emanating from her body.
"Yes..." I clear my throat, and Jenna nods, smiling shyly. I immediately notice Jenna shivering from the cold, and I worry about her. "Do you want my sweatshirt?" I ask with genuine concern, and Jenna denies, pushing a strand of hair away from her face. "Sure? Are you cold" I raise an eyebrow in confusion, and Jenna sighs loudly, shivering once again. The brunette nods slowly, and smiling, I take off my sweatshirt and hand it to her. Jenna puts it on, looking incredibly adorable as it hangs loosely on her.
"Thanks." Jenna smiles genuinely and comes closer, resting her head on my shoulder. Emotion grows inside me, and I nervously smile. I look down, and I see Jenna's hand brushing against mine. Gathering courage, I grab it, intertwining our fingers. I feel Jenna's pulse racing under my touch, her arm relaxing.
"So..." Jenna says in a low voice, breaking the silence around us. "Do you have a boyfriend? Girlfriend?" She asks with curiosity, looking at my script resting on my legs. Jenna's thumb absentmindedly caresses the back of my hand, making me shiver slightly. In reality, I'm confused because I don't know if I feel something for Emma, but in simple terms, I'm not in a relationship. "No... what about you? Are you with Percy, right?" I ask with my heart in my throat, nervousness running through my body. Jenna raises her chin and looks at me with confusion.
I was afraid to hear her answer. Jenna breaks the contact between our hands.
"Percy? No... we're just friends." She says, smiling broadly, and I suddenly feel stupid and relieved at the same time. "Oh... I thought so," I say with flushed cheeks from embarrassment, and Jenna smiles, shaking her head. "I know... the internet spreads rumors," Jenna murmurs, puffing irritably, "but... Percy and I have nothing," her eyes sparkle as she looks at me. I couldn't help but get lost in her gaze, two coffee-colored puddles analyzing me carefully.
"Mmmh..." Jenna clears her throat and looks away at her hands, "have you set your eyes on someone?" She innocently asks, playing with her fingers. Someone? Actually, two, but obviously, I couldn't say that. "Maybe..." I say hesitantly, and Jenna looks at me from the corner of her eye, an involuntary smile spreading across her lips.
"You?" I ask with embarrassment, and Jenna nods, making a face. The blood boils in my veins at the thought of Jenna being in love with someone else. "Oh... who?" I ask almost in a whisper.
Jenna looks up, observing something in the distance. George, Emma, and Joy walking side by side, laughing, and saying some nonsense. I follow her gaze, and disappointment fills my body seeing that she was looking at George. The curly-haired guy laughs softly while playfully pushing Joy. Emma, on the other hand, looks at me with interest, smiling broadly, her beautiful smile printed on her lips. Involuntarily, I smile too, and Emma keeps looking at me, bright and lively eyes.
"Do you and Emma go out together?" Jenna asks quickly, her gaze suddenly becoming serious "No," I say with confusion, and Jenna continues to look at me attentively. Occasionally, I could sense the brunette putting up a barrier with the outside world, but I really wished she would show herself as she was. I wanted to get to know her and make an impression. A part of me wanted to do the same with Emma but the latter was already quite extroverted, and it was easy to read her emotions. Jenna, on the other hand, was unreadable.
"Oh..." Jenna looks at me with embarrassment, and I smile at how adorable she is. "I know who you like," I intervene, and Jenna's eyes widen, her body stiffening at my words.
"You have to tell him... you know?" I say with a bitter smile. Jenna softens her gaze and continues to look at me, her thoughts and feelings unreadable.
Him? She says spontaneously.
"I'm sure George will feel the same," I say, smiling broadly, hiding my pain, and Jenna snorts with frustration. "It's not George," she says with irritation, making me blink in surprise at her reaction.
Emma walks towards us and stops in front of me. I look up, and Jenna looks away towards the floor. "Y/n, shall we walk a bit? We need to rehearse," Emma says, smiling broadly, her eyes curiously looking at Jenna. The brunette was silent, her hand gripping the chair arm tightly noting Emma's interest. "Um... sure," I say, smiling slightly, following Emma.
Let's start walking without a specific destination, simply enjoying each other's company.
"So... I noticed there's something between you and Jenna," Emma says, smiling weakly, walking alongside me. The girl with blue eyes puts her arms behind her back, walking absentmindedly.
"What? We're just friends," I say nervously, my heart pounding wildly against my chest. "But you like her, right?" She asks with a faded smile, her blue eyes looking at me attentively. "Yes," I say, not being able to lie to her. Emma lowers her gaze and looks at the tips of her shoes. "But I also like you... I'm really confused," I continue suddenly revealing a truth I wanted to keep hidden.
"I like you too... but Jenna is my friend," she says, smiling broadly, her eyes bright at the mention of her friendship with Jenna. "Jen is really introverted and hard to understand... I don't want to lose her friendship," she confesses, continuing to walk alongside me.
"Why should you lose her friendship?" I ask in confusion, and Emma rolls her eyes at my comment. "It doesn't matter," she says, laughing and elbowing me in the side. "So..." I say, and she quickly interrupts me, "I'm sure you like Jenna more, I think the on-set kisses confused you," she says with sadness, her blue eyes losing their liveliness.
"Emma..." I say sadly, feeling a void in my chest. "I told you she and Percy are not together, right?" She asks, and I nod, "but despite that, you still weren't sure," she says bitterly, looking at the floor. I feel a pang of pain in my chest and nod quickly, unconsciously knowing that Emma was right.
"Don't worry about me, I'll manage," Emma smiles genuinely and chuckles, but her eyes are dull.
"Okay," I say uncertainly, "so let's remain friends," I say almost bitterly, and Emma nods her head, "friends," she repeats weakly. "Sorry, but I have to go," Emma adds quickly, her steps increasing considerably.
I watch Emma walk away from me with sadness.
...
That same night, I found myself at a small party with the cast, Emma, and Georgie, dancing animatedly together. A part of me was sad, but at the same time, Emma had given me the green light with Jenna, and I had to move forward. I was slightly jealous of Georgie, I admit.
My eyes were on Jenna, who was leaving the party, and I unconsciously followed her.
As I open the door, the cold cuts my cheeks, and darkness surrounds us, a pleasant silence accompanying us.
"Do you need some fresh air too?" Jenna asks while lighting a cigarette; she was so damn sexy. "Yes, I love Hunter, but his trailer is too small," I laugh, and Jenna just stares at me.
"So... do you like Hunter? But I'm sorry because you know that he..." I start, but Jenna quickly interrupts me, smoke escaping from her lips. "Why do you assume it's a he?" she asks almost angrily, and a shiver runs down my spine at the intensity of her gaze. "Alright... so Joy?" I say, smiling slightly, sad but ready to support her. I had already lost Emma, and the chances of losing Jenna were skyrocketing.
"No!" Jenna throws the stub on the ground, looking at me with shining eyes. Her cold and exasperated response surprised me. Jenna sighs in frustration, crossing her arms to seek warmth. I hated not being able to read what she felt and thought; it was so damn difficult.
"Why do you care?" she asks defensively, and I sigh at her comment. "I want you to be happy," I confess, and Jenna stares at me without batting an eyelash. Her eyes soften, and she takes steps toward me. "It's you," she whispers.
I blink incredulously, and Jenna smiles genuinely. "Me?" I say with a smile on my lips, curious.
"Yes, damn it!" Jenna says, frustrated. "But I was afraid you liked Emma, and I care about her friendship," she confesses later.
"I like her... but I like you more," I admit, and she looks at me seriously, something incomprehensible swimming in her eyes.
"Am I not the second choice?" she timidly asks, the barriers she had finally broken ready to rise again to defend her emotions.
I shake my head; honestly, I liked Jenna from the moment I saw her.
Sensing the tension in the air, Jenna delicately bites her lips, then sticks out her tongue to moisten them. My eyes follow her with admiration, caught by the gesture exuding sensuality.
Red, full lips, so kissable.
Without warning, Jenna leans in, her presence intensifying the atmosphere charged with desire. With confidence, her lips meet mine in a long-awaited kiss. Jenna's strength and energy transmit through the contact, while the moment becomes charged with palpable passion. Jenna's hands firmly grip my shirt, and mine find her hips almost immediately, pulling her closer. During scenes, Emma used to kiss me tenderly, slowly, without invading my space too much, which was completely the opposite of what Jenna was doing.
Oxygen soon runs out, and we break the kiss, my nose brushing against hers, my eyes able to see the freckles around her face. "Wow," Jenna says, smiling widely, her breath slightly infused with alcohol. I smile too. Jenna wraps her arms around my neck and hugs me gently. "I'm glad you didn't do anything with Emma," Jenna says, smiling against my neck. I smile bitterly and let myself be carried away by the hug and her intoxicating scent. "Yeah," I say weakly, and Jenna tightens the embrace.
I had chosen Jenna, and there was no turning back.

Do you think that separating out detrans women into detransitioning and desisted is helpful? Does it seem like a useful destination or just micro labeling?
Thanks for your question! I think it makes sense to have different words for both. We do have a lot in common when it comes to identity and changes in it and I think it's interesting to share experiences with desisted women.
For those who might not be familiar with these words: detrans means you have transitioned medically and then attempt to reverse the transition. Desisting means being trans identified but not transitioning medically and later abandoning the trans identity.
The main difference is of course the medical side and the lived experience of actually been seen as the opposite sex for a period of your life, which are both huge. In this regard I feel only other detrans women can understand that experience. Social changes that a desister may have gone through are very tangible and may not be easy to navigate. But when someone desists, let's say in her 20's, I doubt the trans phase will have a lasting effect to how she feels about herself in her 40's, in her 50's and so on.
On the other hand, detrans women will live with the consequences for the rest of our lives. That isn't easy to grasp. It's going to be the rest of my life, there's no returning. You can't entirely undo transition. Of course it's different if you've taken T for 3 months or 15 years, detrans women's experiences aren't identical. Different detransitioners will have different experiences and a few may experience almost complete reversal, but for most many of the changes are permanent. Mastectomy can't be reversed (breast implants aren't the same as breasts), hysterectomy can't be reversed and you can't get back your original genitals if you're had phalloplasty or metoidioplasty. Many effects of T are of course permanent, too, the most obvious being voice.
With this medical aspect comes the kind of grief that I think is very unique to detrans experience. In addition, there is the experience of alienation from other women as they don't recognize you as one of their own anymore. Some experience this phase only temporarily, for some it's more permanent, depending on how medical transition has affected your body and how much you will experience reversal. You might land into the realm of androgyny where you never know if you've seen as a male or female. No matter identity, women will act differently towards someone depending on whether that person appears to be male or female. A lot of us are seen either as TIFs/trans men or TIMs/ trans women, depending on our bodily features and style. It's a weird experience to be assumed to be someone you feel you have very little in common with.
In a nutshell: I think detransition and desisting are close to one another when it comes to understanding yourself as a woman and understanding internalized misogyny, but the medical transition adds another layer.

If I was in charge of a Batman cartoon — something that will literally NEVER happen, because I live in Alabama with no connections to the animation industry.
I would take advantage of Batman’s large cast of characters and cast it as an ensemble show. To reflect that, the show would be named something like The Dark Knights of Gotham, with the ‘s’ spray painted on at the end of Knight to give the impression this is a new reality for Bruce, with it by the end of the show the ‘s’ appearing as though it was there all along.
Season 1
In Season 1, the pilot would not be a retread of Batman’s story, but instead the pilot picks up with Dick’s story of the circus. Bruce has been active for about three years, and it’s just him and Alfred. I would want it to be a show that doesn’t focus too much on the larger world it’s sport of, à la X-Men: Evolution, so the Justice League is almost a non-existence presence. At the end of the two part pilot, Dick joins as Robin, as it’s the normal story, but at the end of the pilot we learn that the Joker pulled the strings and coerced Tony Zucco into taking the step to kill Dick’s parents, revealing he is closer to his portrayal by Heath Ledger, in that his brand of chaos is still chaos but it’s calculated. He has a goal, to break Batman, and he will play the long game to do it. Throughout the first season, we have small but noticeable time jumps that reveal Dick is getting older, with growing tension between Dick and Bruce as he gets older. Throughout the season, we get hints that Joker is building towards something, and in the finale it comes to a head — Joker kidnaps Dick and uses him as bait to lure Batman out. His plan is to kill Dick to break Batman, but Dick manages to escape and they take down Joker before Batman is killed, a last-ditch effort for Joker to get what he wants. Joker loses, but he notices the tension between Batman and Robin. The season ends with Dick leaving to become Nightwing, with teases of two characters in the final moments of the season — Batman catches someone stealing his tires and a Dr. Quinzel is buzzed into Joker’s cell at Arkham, where he was taken after his capture.
:readmore:
Season 2
Season 2 takes place two years later (you’ll find time jumps are common, similar to Young Justice). Jason has established himself as the new Robin and we open this season mid-battle between Batman, Robin, Harley Quinn, and Joker. The battle ends in Batman and Robin’s favor, but it’s difficult and it’s established that Harley Quinn has made Joker all the more formidable. Nightwing makes sporadic appearances throughout the season, sometimes it’s merely Nightwing declining calls other times he helps on a case. We’d have an episode based on that part in Nightwing: Year One, where Nightwing and Robin team up to save Batman. This would be towards the end of the season, where after multiple episodes of Nightwing dismissing or being outright rude to Robin, they finally connect and Nightwing accepts him as Robin. The finale is the Death in the Finale storyline as Joker tries to break Batman again, with the added addition of Harley Quinn, who after Jason dies realizes the error of her ways and vows to be better. We close on Batman weeping as he holds Robin, and we hear him whisper Jason’s name mournfully before fading to black.
Season 3
Season 3 opens on the same shot of Bruce holding Jason, before it transitions to Batman viciously hunting down Riddler and demanding to know if Riddler knows Joker’s location, who has disappeared in the aftermath of Jason’s death. Jim Gordon appears and arrests Riddler, and we zoom out to see a dark figure watching from the distance as Batman disappears into the night. Harley Quinn is in Arkham, where Stephanie Brown is visiting to see Cluemaster. Stephanie recognizes Harley and demands to know how she sleeps at night, to which Harley replies she doesn’t. Stephanie is shaken by this. Tim breaks into the Batcave and demands to be Robin, and to which Bruce refuses and almost has him arrested. A day later, Dick intervenes and tells him to get over himself and take Tim on. For half the season, Tim is Robin, and periodically we visit Stephanie, who is starting out as Spoiler and her rocky relationship with Batman, with Tim running interference when they meet and in the mid-season finale, Tim is busted as Robin by his father and Stephanie takes over as Robin from him. Stephanie and Bruce argue constantly, and we see flashbacks to his fighting with the other Robins, and he fires her in the penultimate episode of the season. Tim takes back over in the final battle against Joker, who has come out of hiding. Stephanie reappears when it looks like all is lost, and she and Batman make up. We close on a speech from Batman about never giving up on family, and he says he can’t make Stephanie Robin again, instead he makes a new position for her — the first Batgirl.
Season 4
Season 4 opens with a flashback indicating it happened the night Jason died, and we are introduced to the League of Assassins, who take Jason’s body from the morgue and revive in a Lazarus Pit. We jump to present day, where we see Robin, Batgirl, Batman, and Nightwing all chasing one man — the Red Hood, a new villain in Gotham. We see them getting aid from an off-screen voice, and then we learn who it is — Barbara Gordon, who was a victim of the Joker and decided to help the heroes of Gotham as Oracle. (Side note: I made Stephanie the first Batgirl and put Babs first as Oracle just to streamline the process, and because I don’t want this to just be a repeat of all the comic books.) Red Hood gets away, but a few nights later they are aided by a mysterious figure. The whole season is spent investigating this person and Red Hood. Mid-season we learn this is Cassandra, and she joins them. Cassandra will be completely mute and speak through sign-language. She takes on the name Black Bat. They eventually corner Red Hood after he finds the Joker and in an emotional confrontation, Jason leaves before he kills Joker but says he will never join Batman again. Season 4 is the last season, so in the finale we cut to a time skip. Dick has become Batman to an arrogant and moody but four years in the future — this is Damian. Stephanie and Tim are married and have left the hero game behind, and Babs runs mission ops for the new Batgirl Cassandra. This leads into a spin-off, where we follow the new Robin and Batman.
this stinks but I couldn’t get it out of my head
thoughts?

I know it’s super corny, but seeing as how A Christmas Carol has always been a comfort story for me as a kid… Imagine an AU in its likeness for The Owl House; With Belos, of course, playing the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. He truly is a miserable old man with a sympathetic backstory, even if he did veer into VERY unsympathetic territory as he grew up. I guess it’s a bit of selfish wish-fulfillment to see him let go of the bitterness and be happy again, for once.
Instead of hating Christmas, he hates magic in general, and by the time of the story, a holiday dedicated to magic is rolling around and “Uncle Phil” is less than pleased. Hunter plays the role of Nephew Fred, who else? He and his friends at dinner are the other kids, the Emerald Entrails, and possibly additional classmates, as well as Darius and Eberwolf, etc.
Jacob Marley goes to… Maybe THE Witchfinder General, Matthew Hopkins? Of historical fame, the inspiration for Jacob Hopkins, the precedent of the title Philip looks up to, a man who lived in the same time period and area as him? That or Terra Snapdragon, or maybe Osran since he’s Oracle Coven and it’s related to ghosts, but those two seem kind of a stretch, especially since they’re nevertheless witches. Or Bill! Yeah he’s also a witch, but him and Belos seem to have parallels as those who lead a society they’ve manipulated and filter their perception of the Collector, all for their own ends.
Bob Cratchit… Ultimately I settled for Lilith, as a beleaguered assistant whom has a family to look after and attend to. I DID consider Kikimora for the role, since she’s short like Bob (at least the version of him I’m familiar with), and in canon had a family she struggled to go home to. But in the end, while I would like to give Kiki some more love, Lilith has a family of characters we’ve actually seen and know; And since the Clawthornes are clearly related to him, that makes for another side of the family for Phil to accept and embrace for once, though whether he knows the connection, I dunno.
Lilith is at this point her nerdy self, not quite repressed given the VERY different context, but still a bit too lenient towards her employer. Tiny Tim will be her nephew, King Clawthorne; They’re both wittle guys and the baby of their families. Not that it’d happen in canon, but Philip is actually concerned for the wellbeing of this little Titan when he finds out.
It’s Bump and the Illusion teacher that ask Belos for donations; They’re both older characters who care about kids and support their efforts in magic, so it feels sensible to me.
The Ghost of Christmas Past is the Collector; Short, young, scary angels associated with light. The Collector is tied a lot to Philip’s past and privy to many aspects of it, witnessing his transition from Philip to Belos in the present-day. Similarly, the Ghost of Christmas Past torments Scrooge with visions of his past, his worst memories and regrets; In canon, the Collector plays the role of The Fool, in the sense that they serve as a reckless, teasing voice of narrative commentary on Belos’ folly, and his insecurity over his home and himself changing over the centuries.
The Collector is privy and witness to a lot of past deeds and secrets of Belos that would otherwise be lost to time; They take Philip on a visit to his childhood home in Gravesfield. Pip’s lonely at the school, but his older brother Caleb is here to pick him up, and celebrate Christmas with him! Alas, he ‘lost’ Caleb to Evelyn, and Caleb died, leaving his nephew Hunter. Philip remembers other figures from his past, including a love whom he fell out with due to his bigotry; And much to his agony, the Collector shows him how said love has moved on and married again, and now even has children, too! Philip demands the Collector torment him no longer, and uses the disk to seal them away.
Then comes the Ghost of Christmas Present… Which, this may change in the future; But for now, I’ve tentatively chosen the Bat Queen; The Ghost of Christmas Present is very reminiscent of Santa and a parental figure. The Bat Queen is a maternal figure, granting palismen to kids. She sheds light on the plight of the Clawthornes (yeah, Raine is there with Eda), especially Tiny King, who is in poor health. We get to see a community of construction witches celebrating with their families, including Mason and his sons, Steve and Mattholomule. Salty and his crew make cameos, as do Malphas and the librarians, or the Demon Hunters.
Belos gets to see Hunter having dinner with his friends without him, in which he hears the kids’ dislike of Belos; But Hunter really does care for his uncle and while he’s rightfully frustrated, wishes the best and no ill will. The Bat Queen’s shift ends with a haunting reminder of palismen who have been abused and died, as an homage to Ignorance and Want in the original; Maybe Flapjack is one of them.
Finally, we have the Ghost of Christmas Future. I’ve considered the Titan himself for this; A skeletal, death-related figure, enigmatic, who’s never really spoken, and rather mysterious for it. He appears as a dark silhouette towering over everything, pointing and directing Belos to where he needs to go. Or Grometheus; A dark entity who embodies one’s worst fears, which is particularly topical here.
The dudes who discuss only visiting Belos’ funeral if lunch is provided; Maybe Tibbles and Piniet (they are capitalists), or Coven Heads like Terra, Osran, Vitimir, etc. Kikimora is the one who loots Belos’ corpse, because she totally would; In canon, she’s a lot closer to his private matters than he knows or would like, and intent on seizing some of that power for herself after all. Maybe Wrath is also there as a fellow scavenger, as well as unnamed Coven captains; Maybe Severine too. Employees who don’t appreciate this dude and who can blame them?
Not sure who’s going to be the couple that’s glad Philip is dead; I don’t want it to be the parents of any of the kids, or else it’d be insensitive for Hunter to vouch for his uncle in front of them. Maybe the two old ladies that Steve cried over? Boscha’s parents, Larry and their partner? Prim and one of the Demon Hunters…Roselle and Dottie, those ladies who kidnapped Eda-in-King’s-body???
Philip learns that Tiny King has died and is devastated. And lo and behold, he finds out who it is that nobody’s been mourning; It’s himself, Philip Wittebane! He promises the Ghost of Future that he’ll change, falls into his grave… And awakens on the floor of his bedroom, still alive and with a newfound chance at life!
Not sure who’s the kid he asks to buy a turkey for him; Maybe Braxas? Philip makes amends with his nephew Hunter and his found family, coming over for dinner; And the next morning, he vows to be better to Lilith and the Clawthornes, helping look after Tiny King and becoming like another father to him! King ends the story by declaring Titan bless us, everyone!

Republican Sen. J.D. Vance received support from 10 Democrats as part of a successful amendment prohibiting the Department of Transportation from using any federal funds to enforce future mask mandates.
The amendment to the Senate minibus appropriations bill passed Wednesday by a 59-38 margin and prevents federal mask mandates on passenger airlines, commuter rail, rapid transit buses, and any other transportation program funded through the 2024 fiscal year.
These are the 10 Democrats who voted for the amendment: Tammy Baldwin (Wisconsin); Michael Bennet (Colorado); Sherrod Brown (Ohio); Tim Kaine (Virginia); Mark Kelly (Arizona); Amy Klobuchar (Minnesota); Joe Manchin (West Virginia); Jacky Rosen (Nevada); Jean Shaheen (New Hampshire); and Jon Tester (Montana).
Three senators—Democrats John Fetterman (Pennsylvania) and Alex Padilla (California), and Republican Tim Scott (South Carolina—did not vote. Of the three independent senators, Kyrsten Sinema (Arizona) was the only one to vote in favor.
"This is a massive victory for personal freedom in this country," Vance said in a post-vote statement. "We saw countless abuses of authority throughout the COVID pandemic, and the American people were justifiably enraged by unscientific mask mandates.
"Today, the United States Senate took an emphatic step toward common sense and individual liberty. I'm proud of what we've accomplished here and look forward to continuing the fight."
In September, Vance, who represents Ohio, introduced the Freedom to Breathe Act—a bill intended to prevent the reimposition of federal mask mandates across the entire United States, in response to some businesses and colleges and universities reimposing mask mandates in the summer due to upticks in COVID-19 cases.
In September, the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Ohio announced that all staff will be required to wear masks on the premises beginning September 25.
"This decision was made to promote the safety of our patients, families, visitors, and employees, based on evidence that masks are effective in reducing the spread of respiratory illness," the hospital said in a statement.
A recent map published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed that, from October 8 to October 14, COVID-19 deaths increased just 2.5 percent nationally when compared to the previous week. Some states, including Ohio's neighbor Michigan, with a 33.3 percent rise, reported much larger increases.
Vance said prior to the vote on the Senate floor that while COVID will unfortunately be with Americans for likely the rest of their lives, its presence should not constitute "public health panic" for a respiratory virus which is mostly unable to be stopped or controlled on a widespread level.
He alluded to altercations on flights between passengers and flight attendants during the height of the pandemic due to mask enforcement. Vance also mentioned the developmental delays to schoolchildren and division that resulted among American families. "If people want to wear masks, of course they should be able to," he said. "But if people don't want to wear masks on airplanes, on transit, they should have that option as well, and that's all that my amendment does.
"It is narrowly scoped. It applies for the next 11 months and applies to transportation cases. And I think it is reasonable to not ask the American people to reenter the era of mask mandates."
Brown, who along with Vance represents Ohio, told Cleveland.com that he supported the amendment because "the pandemic's over."
"I've got no problems with it," Brown said. "I don't think there should be mask mandates."
A spokesperson for Brown told Newsweek the senator had no additional comment.
Newsweek reached out via email to Vance, the other nine Democrats who voted for the amendment, and the CDC for comment.

Dangerous Thoughts
Long days and equally long nights.
He was no stranger to them, he’d had more than his fair share of them during his time not only as a dragoon but also the first time he’d been responsible for his household. There were some tasks that simply could not wait and when one had a house of people depending on them, putting off responsibilities for the next day for not a viable option.
But that had been before - and the responsibilities now, the tasks now were different…but the days no shorter.
Osric ran a hand through his hair, brushing away what snow remained before removing his jacket and handing it to Wyland who stood, ever ready, by the door despite the late hour.
“Will there be anything else this evening, sir?”
“No, Wyland. Go get some rest. Anything I require we can discuss in the morning.”
“As you say, sir.”
The older Elezen gave a low bow before moving to hang up the jacket in his hands and then disappearing down one of the darkened halls as Osric moved towards the stairs and up towards his study, expecting to find the room cold and dark. The rest of the estate was quiet, there was no reason to think that this room would be any different.
Which was why he was caught off guard to find a fire within the fireplace and his sister lounging in a nearby chair, her feet propped up, a glass in her hand, and her chair turned towards the door. “Oh, look who decided to finally wander home. I was starting to wonder if I was going to need to send out a search party.”
“Says the woman who disappears for weeks on end for ‘work’. Hello to you too, Edalene.”
Her eyes narrowed as she set her mostly full glass on the nearby table before standing up. “You can try to turn this around on my work if you’d like, but that’s fairly flimsy and we both know it.” She crossed her arms loosely over her chest as she approached, one slow step at a time. “Wyland mentioned that you’ve been spending a majority of your time over at the Cress estate as of late.”
That earned her a confused tilt of the head with a small chuckle as he moved over to his desk, glancing to make sure no missives as arrived during his time away. “And what makes that surprising? I’m betrothed to Vahalia Cress. It would make sense that I’d be spending time with her, would it not? I also need a better understanding of how she prefers her home to operate as our houses will be merging at some point in the near future and I’d like for it to be a smooth transition.” He picked up a letter opener and one of the few missives that had arrived during his absence. “And since you were the one who originally suggested the pairing I would think would you would be thrilled by the progress.”
He didn’t bother to look up,  hearing the huff as he focused on opening the missive in his hand.
“And I am - we’ve had that conversation before, Osric. I simply want to make sure that this is what you want and that this isn’t just you doing what you think you’re ‘supposed’ to do…again.”
“And as I’ve told you before, Edalene, the time for that behavior has long past and I’m pursuing this particular route because I want to, and for no other reason.”
“Right…and so the only reason you’ve spent days and days over at the Cress estate is to figure out how she prefers her house to be run?”
He paused, exhaling slowly and setting down the missive and the letter opener gently, purposely, before turning his gaze on his sister once more. “Is there a particular reason you’re fishing, Edalene? She’s an interesting, engaging woman who I happen to be betrothed to. Yes, I’m spending time at her estate learning how she prefers her house to be run, but in addition to that I’m getting to know her a bit better because I will be spending the rest of my life with her. Is that such a difficult concept to grasp?”
“I’m just curious, that’s all. I mean she’s an attractive woman - in addition to being enigmatic and I was just wondering how you were getting to know her…That’s all…”
“Talking to her mostly. Sharing a meal from time to time. I’ll read to her when her schedule and time allows…wait…” He trailed off, his gaze narrowing in his sister’s direction, “...are you actually prying into my business right now?”
“Um…Maybe? I mean, in my defense - it’s late, Osric, and the last time you dove head first into something it was months before you pulled yourself up out of it. Or so I was told.”
He gathered up the missive he’d set aside earlier - nothing important, and certainly nothing that needed his attention - and carried it over to toss it into the fire. “A very different situation, with a very different aim, Edalene. I haven’t ‘dove’ into anything. I’ve walked, gradually, into it. Willingly and in full knowledge of what’s next and what’s expected.”
It was his sister’s turn to narrow her eyes in his direction. “So…you’re not secretly falling madly in love with Vahalia Cress and that’s why you’re spending all your free time at her Estate?”
Tumblr media
There was a long pause before Osric exhaled, slipping his hands into his pockets, his thoughts drifting for a moment to the tug he’d often feel near the center of his chest when he was around the dark-haired woman. “I could love her, in time. I’m well aware of the fact that she’s an attractive woman, she’s driven, intelligent, and loyal to those she cares for. But right now what is between us is a business arrangement, any thing that comes after we handle when it arrives.”
Edalene stared at him for a long moment before offering a sigh and a nod. “Alright, I’m going to trust that you have things well in hand then.” She wandered over, giving him a firm punch to the chest before heading towards the door. “And next time send word on when you’re heading home - I sat up here for a solid three hours.”
“You could have also just had this chat with me in the morning…you know, like a normal person?”
“And where’s the drama in that?”
Osric rolled his eyes as the door closed and turned his attention back towards the fire, letting his thoughts drift back to just hours before and a very different study where a dark-haired, golden-eyed woman sat near by as he’d read aloud, completely losing track of the time.
He could easily see himself falling in love with her, it was a dangerous thought - but there were more important issues to see to first.
Emotions would have to wait.

Further FOX AND THE HOUND Observations
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I watch THE FOX AND THE HOUND... Like, a lot...
Not too long ago, while scoping around Goodwill... Even though I have largely halted collecting Disney VHS tapes (something I regularly did from the early 2000s up until the late 2010s, with some additions every now and then afterwards), I couldn't help but pick up some Disney VHS tapes that I saw there...
One of them was the 2000 release of THE FOX AND THE HOUND, which was in the Gold Classic Collection. This release came in both VHS and DVD formats, but I scooped up the tape, largely for the front artwork. I never really collected the Gold Classic Collection editions, even though they were the newest releases of several Disney films when I was in my late single-digits. I had gotten a couple of them, too, back in the day, as previous editions were no longer available. I had FUN & FANCY FREE, ALICE IN WONDERLAND, and THE RESCUERS DOWN UNDER circa 2000-2002. I had also gotten the GCC DVDs of THE SWORD IN THE STONE and THE BLACK CAULDRON. Many years later, when I started collecting Disney VHS tapes, I did eventually throw in at least one more GCC release. I remember being given the 2000 release of TOY STORY from a relative, and... I didn't really pick up any after that, until I got the FOX AND THE HOUND VHS the other day.
I tend to watch the movie a lot, and I wanted an excuse to the other day, so I popped in the VHS. I had never seen what this transfer of the movie looked like, I was only familiar with how it looked on the original 1994 VHS release (from "The Classics" line) and the 2011 Blu-ray... But, THE FOX AND THE HOUND fascinates me, even if it's not among my personal favorite Disney animated features...
There was a period in my life where I watched it frequently, too. Circa early 2002, I want to say? And another time around mid-to-late 2005-ish, when I was nonstop watching many of the animated classics. Studying them like the obsessed 12 3/4-year old that I was at the time! These films are like my sun and moon, even the ones that aren't regarded as the greatest, or even considered below par.
Anyways... Where was I? Yeah, THE FOX AND THE HOUND. Well-known amongst the average animation (and/or Disney) historian as the smack-dab-in-the-middle of the transitional era picture of the Disney animated feature library. The film whose production was fraught by Don Bluth's mass exodus from the studio, resulting in a half-year delay and the enterprise scrambling to hire many new animators to work on the picture, getting it to its summer 1981 release date. A film worked on by many future giants in the animation and cinema landscape, from John Musker to Chris Buck to Glen Keane to Brad Bird to Tim Burton!
Wow-wee!
THE FOX AND THE HOUND wasn't quite a beloved picture upon release in 1981, with some brushing it off as yet another Disney cartoon in the age of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. In fact, this dog picture shared the same summer with RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. It is a very compromised picture, as it is well-known that the young artists and the veterans were both at odds- not so much with each other, but with a very strict management that feared the wrath of angry letters from parents and the Bible Belt. This middle-management wouldn't allow the animated features in the works at the time (THE RESCUERS, this film) to be more in line with the films overseen by Walt Disney, films that weren't afraid to frighten young children and commit to their visual drama. Thus, you had Chief surviving a fall from a railroad bridge that was *supposed* to result in his death (thus fueling Copper with vengeance and hate for his best friend), and a general lack of oomph in other scenes. Jerry Rees, one of the animators of the film, recently revealed in an interview that the directors and executives didn't want the death of Tod's mother in the opening sequence to be explicit! They had to fight, tooth and nail, to get that gunshot sound effect in the movie!
That tells you everything you need to know...
THE FOX AND THE HOUND was in full production by the end of 1978. An inked and painted image of Tod and Copper meeting each other in the fallen log appeared in a November issue of LIFE Magazine that year, in celebration of Mickey Mouse's 50th birthday. In this issue was also some concept art done up by Mel Shaw for THE BLACK CAULDRON, which ended up being the feature film to be completed after FOX/HOUND. Not too long ago, I had read that one of the remaining bits of Don Bluth's work on the film was in the scene where Tod causes trouble in the barn while Widow Tweed is tending to Abigail the cow... and yeah, it does look like a Bluth scene!
Tumblr media
There's a particular way Bluth does eyes, and I feel like you can see that with both Tod and the cow. Also, Tod doesn't keep his tongue in his mouth (before he takes a drink), another Bluth staple. You can see where his work is, using the tongues as your guide, in THE RESCUERS and WINNIE THE POOH AND TIGGER TOO. He has a thing for characters' tongues flopping out of their mouths.
But I definitely think that Bluth-ness can be felt in other scenes during the film's first 10 or so minutes, such as Big Mama comforting Tod after losing his mother, and Widow Tweed feeding Tod milk. And then about 20 minutes or so into the picture, once Amos, Copper, and Chief go on their lengthy hunting trip, you can see where things resumed following Bluth's September 1979 exit from the animation wing. You can see the work of the Cal-Art animators, and the vibe of the picture is slightly different. The first 10-20min of the movie have that '70s slow quietness to it, the veterans and the animators who already had ROBIN HOOD, TIGGER TOO, and THE RESCUERS under their collective belts... And then the rest of the picture, the new animators. There's a looseness to the animation and structuring of that half of the film, I feel.
I find that very, very fascinating. We have roughly a quarter of the movie that was made in 1978-79, and then the rest resumed in - presumably - early 1980. Of course, the story itself was probably locked by the end of 1978 with few major changes made afterwards (for example, the earliest iterations of THE FOX AND THE HOUND had some crow characters instead of woodpecker Boomer and the Brooklyn-accented sparrow Dinky), it's the execution of what was laid down. One team handling the first 10-20min, the other handling the rest. There's at least two schools of thought at play here, maybe a third, because Glen Keane's bear sequence feels - from a visual and staging standpoint - like it's from a completely different movie. The powerhouse sequence showcases a kind of intensity and raw pencil-drawn power that did the early Walt-era films proud, that the rest of the movie could've lived up to if the filmmakers had been allowed to just make a great family movie without the fear of upsetting someone.
Then you look at MICKEY'S CHRISTMAS CAROL (1983) and THE BLACK CAULDRON (1985), it's the new team's work through and through... THE FOX AND THE HOUND is the full bridge from the end of the Nine Old Men's lengthy careers to the "Young Turks" who would eventually be at the forefront of Disney Animation's "Renaissance"... You have a little bit of everything in it, really... Nine Old Men stuff that feels like it's from the late 1970s, Don Bluth stuff that's in line with his work on THE RESCUERS and his first feature THE SECRET OF NIMH (and also his part-time short BANJO THE WOODPILE CAT), the new animators' work that rings more CAROL and CAULDRON, and Glen Keane just absolutely going off with a scene that looks like it could've come right out of one of the '90s movies.
Kind of an eclectic collection of filmmaking choices, if you think about it, all rolled into this often-overlooked 83-minute movie.

Transhumanism🤖
Transition towards post-humanism
Tumblr media
The close-knit relationship between technology and human evolution is not a newly identified discovery. For example, the discovery of fire made a significant change in the then-existing life cycle of man. Therefore, through this article in YanaGie, we hope to introduce you to the climax of the conflict between technology and human evolution.
(
Things to know before reading:
Content- The article describes modern biological and technological innovations related to this concept (For example, the article doesn’t deal with how a chip is attached to the human brain through the Neuralink project). More attention has been paid to its inception, publication, and the philosophical debates that have been arisen from it, for the purpose of scientifically analyzing it. The structure of the topics in the article is as follows:
1: emergence, 2: development of the concept during the 80s, 3: development of the concept during the 90s, 4: market interference, 5: philosophical and ethical views, 6: summary.
)
“For the last several decades, a strange liberation movement has grown within the developed world. Its crusaders aim much higher than civil rights campaigners, feminists, or gay-rights advocates. They want nothing less than to liberate the human race from its biological constraints. As “transhumanists” see it, humans must wrest their biological destiny from evolution’s blind ...”
- Francis Fukuyama (American political scientist)
1. Emergence
The concept of Transhumanism became popular through an article published in 1957 by Julian Huxley, a British biologist, and philosopher, under this name. He stated that at this time, human evolution can be “supplanted” by removing unnecessary factors and improving the necessary ones we have gained.
Here, Huxley mainly focused on improving human conditions to a higher level through also a social and cultural sense in a broader perception, but the concept was adopted by Transhumanist movements that emerged later only as a unification of scientific and technological advances that man had acquired at that time. For example, computer science, space exploration, and cell and tissue preservation through cryopreservation techniques.
2. Development of the concept during the 80s
Subsequently, in the 80s, Transhumanist organizations and schools of thought emerged, focusing on extending human life span, Cryonics (the belief that it is possible to revive deep frozen dead human bodies in the future), space colonization, etc. to advance scientific and technological approaches.
Furthermore, the 80s was a decade favorable for this subject. The Foresight Institute was established by American engineer K. Eric Drexler and researcher Christine L. Peterson with the aim of using molecular engineering and nanotechnology in a visionary manner and conceptual artist Natasha Vita-More brought the discussion of human enhancement through the integration of aesthetics and scientific-technological advancement, among other events. In addition, prominent figures within this movement included American philosopher James Hughes and Canadian roboticist Han Moravec.
3. Development of the concept during the 90s
In the 90th decade, the concept was discussed further. British philosopher Max More and American philosopher Tim W. Bell founded the organization Extropy in order to enhance human characteristics. In 1998, Swedish and Britain philosophers respectively, Nick Bostrom and David Pearce established the Transhumanist Association (WTA), to introduce Transhumanism as a research subject, and in 2008 WTA, was renamed as Humanity+ in hopes of broadening the ideology of Transhumanism.
4. Market interference
In fact, after 2000, Transhumanism received support and funding from Google co-founder Larry Page, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk among other Silicon Valley entrepreneurs. In 2013, Larry Page established Calico Life Sciences LLC (Calico Labs) with the aim of using technological advancements to extend human life. In 2022, Bezos and his donors invests $3 billion in Altos Labs, which aims to use technology to prevent ageing and disease. Elon Musk founded SpaceX in 2002 with the goal of colonizing Mars and the moon, and Neuralink in 2016 with the goal of creating chips that can be connected to the human brain. In July 2022, Synchron announced that they had successfully implanted a chip in the brain of a patient with ALS(Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).
Elon Musk has quite a significant idea about this, according to him to avoid redundancy in the face of AI humans should merge mentally and physically with machines. Even if his statement seems quite serious at face value, the fundamentals of connecting humans and machines have been present for centuries, it exists in even wearing glasses which we have been doing for a long time now.
5. Philosophical and ethical views
American political philosopher, Francis Fukuyama, has stated “Underlying this idea of the equality of rights is the belief that we all possess a human essence that dwarfs manifest differences in skin color, beauty, and even intelligence. This essence, and the view that individuals therefore have inherent value, is at the heart of political liberalism. But modifying that essence is the core of the transhumanist project. If we start transforming ourselves into something superior, what rights will these enhanced creatures claim, and what rights will they possess when compared to those left behind? If some move ahead, can anyone afford not to follow? These questions are troubling enough within rich, developed societies. Add in the implications for citizens of the world’s poorest countries — for whom biotechnology’s marvels likely will be out of reach — and the threat to the idea of equality becomes even more menacing.” , when talking about Transhumanism in 2009.
He also elaborates “Transhumanism’s advocates think they understand what constitutes a good human being, and they are happy to leave behind the limited, mortal, natural beings they see around them in favor of something better. But do they really comprehend the ultimate human goods? For all our obvious faults, we humans are miraculously complex products of a long evolutionary process — products whose whole is much more than the sum of our parts. Our good characteristics are intimately connected to our bad ones: If we weren’t violent and aggressive, we wouldn’t be able to defend ourselves; if we didn’t have feelings of exclusivity, we wouldn’t be loyal to those close to us; if we never felt jealousy, we would also never feel love. Even our mortality plays a critical function in allowing our species as a whole to survive and adapt (and transhumanists are just about the last group I’d like to see alive forever). Modifying any one of our key characteristics inevitably entails modifying a complex, interlinked package of traits, and we will never be able to anticipate the ultimate outcome.” In his text.
6. Summary
Transhumanism has gained more popularity from the later end of the 1950s, been active during the 80s and 90s, and gained more attention of philosophers and scientists and had their views gained by the 2000s. This is because the action of succeeding biological limitations using science and technology is not an easy feat with positive outcomes. But after the 2000s, this concept gained more attention of the market, and individuals with more wealth have increased investing their resources largely for this matter. According to Francis Fukuyama, Transhumanism challenges equality among humans. Moreover, the changes that occur in the individual based on their unique characteristics affect the whole of humanity (our concepts, social relationships and interactions, desires, social values, spirituality, etc.) Transhumanists hope to eradicate “undesirable” qualities within us, but they do not realize that our “good” qualities are intertwined with our “undesirable” ones and that they would lose the basic essence of what humanity ultimately wishes for.

1,2,13,27 for givenson!
1. Who is always horny and will have sex, at any place and at any time?
Raylan ofc. I like to headcanon he's got a naturally high sex drive and one of his love languages is physical touch. Sex isn't just physical pleasure for him, it's about the emotional intimacy and bonding too. Not to mention with Tim being younger Raylan would feel some additional pressure to prove his bedroom prowess and ability to keep up.
2. Who slides their arm around the other’s waist?
Raylan! Same reasoning as above. He gets touchy as it's one of his primary ways of showing affection.
13. Would they hate-fuck if they were mad at one another? If they had a falling out?
Absolutely. Especially early on in their relationship as they're transitioning from hooking up to dating. I feel like Tim is especially prone to using sex to resolve disagreements because he just…doesn't have a framework for how to resolve a romantic spat through conversation (as I like to headcanon that Raylan is his very first real relationship). Tim thinks "fucking it out" with fix everything. Fuck and forget! He's wrong, of course, since that can soothe things over in the short-term but doesn't solve the root of the problem.
27. Which one fixes up the other one’s outfit in the morning (adjusting a tie, putting hair in the right spot, etc)?
Tim. He's a sucker for those little attentions to detail. He'd legit watch videos about how to tie a tie the proper way just so he can adjust Raylan's tie for him. And you know Tim would snap to it so he can hand Raylan his cowboy hat before he goes out the door.
