Challenge #04174-K156: An Object Lesson
A drunk, razzing the elf, tries to steal hir wizard's hat. Only for the hand to be burned by an angry miniature dragon trying to protect its "lair".
https://peakd.com/fiction/@internutter/challenge-04044-k026-hoard-lair-hat -- Anon Guest
"I tried to warn you," said Wraithvine, who hadn't even put down hir tankard. "A wizard's hat is always protected. You're lucky the booze in your breath didn't light. That's a horrible way to go."
The drunkard was very suddenly sober, nursing a scorch on their hand. "No wand... no wands... How? How'd you do that?"
Wraithvine smiled, smug. Allowing hirself a fragment of gloating over someone who'd been an annoying ass in the last handful of minutes. Ze was functionally immortal, and not immune to a little bit of schadenfreude in the circumstances at hand. "Even I must ask permission to remove my hat," ze said.

Early Childhood - Trinomial Cube
Look at that focus! The binomial cube, when first introduced to the child, is presented as a challenging, three-dimensional puzzle. The cube is made up of a number of colored blocks, which fit together in a specific way. Assembling it uses a child's fine-motor skills and requires the ability to discriminate between the blocks based on multiple characteristics. Some blocks have one color, others have two, and some blocks are cubes, while others are rectangular prisms. This makes the binomial cube a more complex sensorial material, and it requires organized thinking to master. The binomial cube's big brother, the trinomial cube, is a child's more complex next step.
Like other sensorial materials, the binomial and trinomial cubes are self-correcting: when properly assembled, the blocks form a cube that fits perfectly inside of its wooden box. Even if the cube is built outside of its box, visual cues alert the child to any errors they might have made.

Why self-diagnosed autistics are valid
Tumblr media
medical diagnosis can be expensive
humans are the experts on their own minds
family may prevent assessment
diagnosis criteria is a poor checklist of stereotypes
diagnosis criteria ignores gender, race, sexuality, culture & more
medical diagnosis confirms autism, but doesn't create it
discrimination within the medical profession may prevent diagnosis.
Assessment waiting lists often long
medical trauma may make assessment unfeasible

#my art#feralnette au#birds of a feather#long tags#sorry I went apeshit in the tags#LETS SAY IT ALL TOGETHER NOW#I - M - A - G - OOOOOOOOO#its fun drawing marinette's back to Alya and having her appear stout and unstoppable and totally logical#and then you see her face and she's like two seconds from completely snapping and is keeping it together by a thread#as a note just because mari feels very certainly abt smth doesnt mean she's right. feelings can be valid and also irrational#in the throes of grief she decided it was better to be alone than to lose someone again so she started pulling away#and lila made pulling away very very very easy to do#shes also vaguely aware she's being unfair in pinning this on alya which is why she started spinning the drain on cockmoth again#legitimately all the shit that's happened to her wouldn't have been so catastrophic if he was never in the picture and she knows it#but the bitterness of her bestie choosing a fantastic liar over her at the worst of times stiiiiiings#alya's personal timing was bad but lila really took advantage of the fact that marinette had been acting off and weird#she basically clocked marinette as being unstable from SOMETHING and made up a lie about her#knowing she wouldn't have the strength to defend herself#between her social life going tachy bc of lila and losing fu in a way that felt like personhood death marinette was really put on the spot#and alya doing her thing of busting in there and assuming her bias is correct was a terrible combo#essentially marinette is highly unstable and alya is just realizing that#busting in and giving her a lecture when she's slightly hysterical and definitely delirious from exhaustion is NOT the way#to show her she's self sabotaging#cuz thats just gonna make her double down on self sabotaging. bc marinette will not accept that she is also a CHIIIIILD

we need more stupid f/o imagines i think.
imagine going to thrift/charity shops with your f/o and they keep picking out the ugliest pieces of fabric the world has ever seen and sarcastically going "omg you'd look so good in this".
imagine talking shit about someone (see: the character your f/o keeps getting shipped with that you don't like) in public with your f/o and you turn a corner and the person is standing there.
imagine your f/o falling down a slide backwards. yeah.
imagine ice skating with your f/o and you're holding hands and it's so cute but then one of you falls so you both eat shit.
imagine going to a photo booth with your f/o but it's one of the small ones with one chair so one of you has to sit on the other's lap, and just as it's about to take the picture, you both fall out of the booth.
very specific one based on a video i saw earlier this year for british selfshippers: imagine being at asda/tesco/etc with your f/o during the remembrance sunday two minutes of silence and your f/o doesn't realise why everyone's being so quiet and the store is dead silent and you just hear "Please scan your items! 😃" from your self service till iM CRACKING THE FUCK UP .
imagine your f/o breaking spaghetti in half so it fits in the pot properly (bonus points if either you or your s/i are italian)

My @isat-secretsanta-2024 gift for @pillowspace!! They said they’re fascinated by secret research lab AUs, and, in a case of incredible serendipity, that’s been my favorite trope since I was like 8 years old. So I may have gotten possessed and spent three weeks straight worldbuilding a whole entire thing.
So! This comic is my gift for Pillow, but I’m planning to write a fic set in the same AU eventually, titled Desperate Measures. It will take place in a modern day Vaugarde and focus on Odile, Loop, and Siffrin, alongside other more-or-less-familiar faces. And by “eventually” I mean this is now my highest priority project, but it’s big enough that it may be a couple months till I have anything else to show!
Journal transcript under the cut:
wavelength of 690nm, which means it would activate L cones nearly exclusively. If we're correct in our mapping of wavelength combinations to color terms in historical documents, then this would be considered a shade of "red".
I still don't know if I believe it. It seems fantastical, like I've become a character in a children's story, chosen to leave behind the world of the mundane and enter a realm of magic. Or like this is all a dream, and as soon as I'm about to see the shade my brain will realize it doesn't actually know how to show me something I've never seen before, so it'll put me in front of a full auditorium instead; and then I'll forget how to speak Vaugardian, or realize I'm not wearing any pants, or both, and then I'll wake with a start back in Ka Bue.
But however strange it seems, I can't think of any reason they'd have to lie about it. Why else all the NDAs? Why else contact me? So I must assume that it's true. That after years of trying to solve humanity's loss of color vision — a project that began long before I joined it, and that I expected to continue long past my time — I am about to simply be shown a perceivable color. That's the strangest part, really; that this breakthrough isn't related to the mechanisms of sight, but rather, the thing seen.
14/1/29
I thought perhaps they'd synthesized it somehow. Stumbled upon the correct combination of chemicals by accident. Maybe even invented a new sort of craft.
I didn't expect their source of red to be alive.

Early Childhood - Pink Tower
She is so proud of her work! The Pink Tower, iconic to the Montessori classroom, is a scientifically designed material in the Sensorial Area of the classroom. Dr. Montessori believed that working with the Sensorial materials enables children to refine their senses, so they have a clearer understanding of what they see, feel, touch, or smell. The cubes are all the same color, shape, and texture so the student focuses on only one differentiation of the material, its size. It consists of 10 wooden cubes, ranging in size from 1 cubic cm to 10 cubic cm, differing in the three dimensions of height, width, and depth. The Pink Tower aims to refine a child's visual and tactile discrimination. As a child transfers each cube, one at a time starting with the smallest to a work rug, they can feel the weight and progression of its size. As they build the tower, they gain control of their body through purposeful movement.

Imo Shen Jiu is a 100% gay man, much to his chagrin, but he is definitely deeply aesthetically attracted to big buff beautiful butches. Like if a seven foot tall woman with biceps bigger than his waist and a happy trail halfway up her belly saved him from a beast in the wild and gave him damsel in distress treatment, he’d be struggling not to giggle and twirl his hair.

Man I just love dressing crazy. Star-shaped eyeliner, jacket covered in bottle caps with smiley faces, bright pink glasses, piercings in my face. I thrive in the weird looks from strangers. I love being that person little kids think is a fairy and remember for years. I love giggling at myself while I make faces in the mirror.
To me, this is what it is to be punk. To make weird, messy art. To sing your crooked voice as loud as you can. To be the most beautiful ugly. To be that creature 8 year old you wrote stories about in their school notebooks. To be the greatest you you can be.
There is nobody on this Earth who can do you like you. So why not go out and be the best you the world's ever seen?
