7. What is something the fandom does with the character that you like?

I love all the jokes, drawings, and metas about the times skip, what he, Orochimaru, and Sasukes life might have been like. What we see is already pretty funny. "It must be Sasuke. He's always grumpy when he first wakes up" (chapter 306).

I also really love what I've seen from the fanfic side. Rabbitprint on ao3 especially has some wonderful character study type fics involving him. The beautiful, poetic fics that focus on the tragedy of his arc contrast with the more upbeat stuff that pokes fun at him.

The metas as well. I have to give a special shout out to all the people on tumblr who do character analysis of him. There's a lot to read into, especially since he rarely says what he's thinking exactly. Smarter minds than mine have done long pieces analyzing him, and it's always a treat to see.

All in all, Kabuto fans are passionate, and I love seeing people passionate about their characters!

9. Could I be roommates with him

Yeah, I can't picture us interacting a whole lot, though. Very, he stays where he is I stay where I am. Idk that we'd give each other reason to dislike each other, but I can't see us being friends either. Just, not a lot of shared connection personality or interests wise.

15. Favorite ship

I view him as aroace. None of his ships really appeal to me either.

I think I once threw out Haku when someone asked, like, both survive, post-war au. Idk I still feel like I'd prefer it to be platonic, though. Idk, I prefer platonic all of his ships.

Out of the relationships he has, I personally find his weird psudo-friendship thing with Naruto the most interesting. I wish we got more of it, but that's a fun space for fan exploration so I'm not too bummed out about it.

24. What character from another media does he remind me of?

Unsurprisingly, Chishiya.

Some spoilers for late Alice in Borderlands and Chishiya's arc.

There's bare bones similarities, like both being intelligent medics who are self-centered and betray the main character while the main character trusted them and even viewed them as a bit of an authority. Both survive their stories, not exactly befriending or ever being the main antagonist to the main boy but serving as a dark reflection of him in some ways.

Late in the series, the line that got me to write Chishiya was "it was like I existed to show just how empty a human can be," (chapter 56) which just emotionally wrecked me. The line also feels very Kabuto.

This might be very rambling and I haven't reread Alice in Borderland recently enough to make a real meta on this. I do see a similar sort of crisis in both characters told from very different angles. Chishiya is far more independent for one, but he also doesn't self reflect in the ways Kabuto sometimes does until the end.

OKAY what if each Character had their own part of 'Santa Fe'? After the strike, Crutchie is taken away to the refuge and Jack seemingly disappears. Then the characters sing Santa Fe on their own- unaware that the others are singing their own versions: Jack: FOLKS! We finally got a headline 'Newsie's Crushed as Bulls Attack' Crutchie's callin' me, the kid's just too damn slow. Race (telling Katherine): Guy's are fighting, bleeding, falling. Thanks to good old captain Jack! Jack: Captain Jack just wants to close his eyes and GO! Crutchie: Let me go....! Ranting, if you love Abby don't scroll down, Im not looking for counter arguments, last warning.

This freaking bothers me, because her dad was about to kill an innocent girl (without even telling her) and that is justified? Her following him is not being a lawless shit.

What always kinda bothered me about the show is how some characters seem to take the moral high ground when it comes to Joel.

Maria looks at Joel after Tommy says "A bad reputation doesn't mean you're bad". That line always hit me as, look at what I have achieved with my grief and look at you.

The line Joel says when he says that they shouldn't take more people when their lifeboat is overflowing or something, he has a point, a good one even. But then he's again hit with guilt tripping.

Tommy cut him off as if he was the plague. Acting as if his brother reaction to him having a kid was unfair? "Just because your life stopped doesnt mean it has to stop for me". (I mean wtf)

Then Abby saying this line to him as if her father wasn't about to kill this innocent girl without even telling the poor kid. He would've never done that to Abby. Even the showrunners are like Joel is a horrible horrible man and Abby is complex and guilt ridden.

And I just don't get it, maybe it's just me but Joel was pushed into that position. He got told that this kid, who he has been travelling with for over a year, is going to be killed, who made him feel again, whom he hand delivered to her death. That has to make the wires come lose in his head.

He didn't plan this for years, he had to get this kid out of their hands. But Abby followed Joel for years, obsessed over killing him, and then compares him to a lawless shit? She didn't bat an eye as she tortured him to death and heard this other young adult scream for him, and she didnt think twice before killing him brutally and too fucking slowly.

Sorry hearing the showrunners talk just botheres me and then this line annoyed me. Because in the game she doesnt take this moral high ground, she's brutal sure, but not acting like this.

Hii!! I hope this isn’t too forward, I love ur civilian X AU and was just thinking over like what if one day he just. ran out of ideas on how to get the rest of the top 10 to stop fighting over him and coincidentally, he falls sick and THAT’S what makes them lock tf in lmao

Like maybe he’s been busy in his office job and also fighting the rest of top 10 whenever he’s in X form, that it doesn’t hit him that something is off until he sways on his feet on his way home from office job, and why is he feeling hot and cold at the same time,

All the top 10 catches wind of this and starts working together (begrudgingly, calling a truce) to take care of him, and also hating X more cuz where is this mans bf and why isn’t he taking care of his partner!!!

And X is like, relieved that at least now they’ve stopped fighting- then pauses and realises he probs just created more problems for his hero self to deal with and sighs in exasperation.

But also, the way they'd start fighting over the best way to take care of him 😭 Cyan's singing lullabies while Ghostblade is trying to force the porridge he made onto X (it will be the best thing he's ever tasted in his life, but he's too sick to remember later), Queen has raided every pharmacy (she has somehow managed to get everything but the medicine he needs), Luo Li has somehow gotten hospital machinery into his shitty little apartment they've all crammed into and is taking his vitals, Nice is obsessively cleaning everything to make sure the whole place is sterile, E-Soul is standing by as like, a human defibrillator. Just in case. Big Johnny is purring (?) on his chest as he lays there helplessly. Ahu tries to imitate to little success. They get in each other's way and are just. so close to fighting, only to be interrupted by the tiniest sneeze to remind them why they've made a truce.

And they've all been superhuman for so long they can't remember what the fuck a normal illness is like LMAO (he just needs a few days of rest...they are not helping his ass by being there)
