INT: You have this one interaction and then you go your separate ways and you maybe never talk again or don’t see each other for months.
Caesar: And it’s not just about that, but that’s kind of where [the lyric] came from, "I guess I got what I paid for." It might not be apparent all the time, but I do have a strong self belief and feel like I am in control of my reality. I make things happen. I make an action, then something happens, and I don’t always like the consequences.
I’m envious of people who just let life happen to them, because all the bad things, they can just blame on the devil and all the good things they get to thank God and they’re just a victim of their life. By taking responsibility for all your own actions, you are now responsible for all the misery in your own life and all the hurt caused to other people.
INT: There are downsides to that approach, too, because you can’t run around pretending you have no agency.
Caesar: It’s tricky. Being human is tough, it's just coping. What’s the best way I can be human to cope with being a human? I wanted to change my life so badly at one point, I was like, "Let me just take responsibility for everything."
I don’t want to sound pious, because I feel like I can very easily skirt responsibility for things off myself. Every time in an interview I say something and then I think of four examples of me doing the opposite, so I’m like, "Oh, I’m a fucking phony." It makes it hard to speak sometimes.

original thief series basso & garrett :)
ngl, it's about quality over quantity for me. an npc can have a total of three minutes of screen time, but if they have a cool name, they can live rent free in my head and I'll spend several hours trying to decipher drawable features from a blurry screenshot of pixels
there is a vague hint of a story here, and that's because every time I try to play thi4f, I get incredibly frustrated with how Not Fun the game play is. like, is the story good? well. but it has a PLAGUE. that should've given it instant 'I'll replay this once a year' status in my heart, but the game play sucks so bad that I've never finished it. I can't believe Not Fun gameplay beat out my obsession with narrative plagues.
anyway, the idea is basically if the original era had a game with a plague centric narrative and some other stuff I liked out of thi4f thrown into a narrative blender, with a heavy dash of horror thrown in because some parts of the thief games were scarier to me than entire dedicated horror genre games.

hey! do you consider yourself a furry? if so, do you enjoy being in the community? if not, what label do you use, and why? (been wanting to ask this for a while:))
Sure, I don't mind being called a furry. My art certainly qualifies as furry art and my characters are furry characters. But I've never been that connected or active in the furry fandom in general. There's a lot of core experiences that I'm missing: I don't have a fursona, I don't own a fursuit and I've never been to a furry con. My online circles are very furry-centric but I don't think any of my irl friends consider themselves furries, despite our shared tastes and interests.

something that is like the baseline of amys entire character to me is that shes lonely. shes clingy and physically affectionate in a way none of her friends really are, shes always getting pushed aside and left behind. yeah, she helps out people she doesnt know because shes a nice person, but also, she sees part of herself in them. she wont leave someone else behind because she knows the feeling —and more importantly, hates the feeling. if she doesnt have somebody to stand by her and be there for her, then shes going to be that person for everybody else. something something her obsession with sonic is really just like a manifestation of that desire for closeness with someone, and she thinks that romance is the only way to get that. idk... this hedgehog can have so many abandonment issues.

Alastor’s got such a perverted sentimentality going on in this au.
He’d rather forcibly freeze a friend in the state he liked him best rather than let them change in a way he found distasteful.
It’s not that he doesn’t care about Vox. He cares exactly enough to do one of the most horrible things imaginable to him.
People aren’t really people to Al, even the people he likes. Everyone’s just a doll to him and there are dolls he wants to break apart and those he wants to keep.
Right on the money.
I find it really easy to "write" Alastor's psychopathy in this AU, more so than in the main verse surprisingly. I guess, like Charlie, it's easy to forget the depths of cruelty he’s capable of when he's always surrounded by neutral parties (well. except Husk).
The only question this AU raises about Al that I struggle with is why he treats Mimzy and Rosie with the level of respect he does when this is what he's willing to do to his other friends. I suppose it's just because they're both willing to stay mostly the same for decades on end for their own reasons and that makes Alastor feel safe and unchallenged around them. Vox's whole thing was always constantly moving forward, no matter the cost; of course his and Al's friendship was eventually going to go sour– they're both control freaks who wanted diametrically opposed things.
