I'll answer for Anarac, let's see if I can actually scrape up fifteen lines of dialog from this man lol - bro is not the chatty sort

“It’s— It’s not your fault I’m afraid.”

“I will go.”

“I can help. Just… on the ship.”

“Two hours. You’re two hours late. I thought….”

“Yo-u’re not r-eal. You two are far away from here.”

“I know your names. I… think you know mine?”

“...B-Bluff."

“Be careful out there, kid. You don’t know how much danger— how much danger you’re in.”

“They watch…. Beyond. Beware.”

“We’re not like you.”

“I just happened to see the rope. …The kid is still learning, don’t be too harsh.”

“Starlight. It hates me.”

“You can enjoy the beauty too. It doesn’t have to be all numbers and science stuff.”

“It isn’t silly if it means a lot to you.”

“Yeah, it’s pretty good. I think I missed being outside.”

I think it's telling that I had to scroll through like 100 pages to get this much dialog. Like I said, not chatty. However, what he lacks in dialog, Anarac more than makes up for in internal monolog. Here's a choice selection:

Maybe not all of my problems are able to be fixed, but I think a dumpling could definitely do a number on those that are.

Biography of a horse

This is a small piece of my current writing project for class. I ended up writing a Black Beauty-inspired short story from the perspective of a working horse in rural Guatemala. It is also heavily based on my research and experience working with an NGO in Guatemala this summer.

Birth Equine pregnancy lasts an average of 11 months, and nearly always results in a single offspring, called a foal. Male foals are called colts, female foals are called fillies. Foals are expected to stand and nurse within one hour after birth. My earliest memories are of my mother, and the family we belonged to. They were there when I was born. I remember those first few moments, in the shock of cold night air, my wet ears sticking to my head. My mother spoke to me in soft nickers, telling me her name, telling me that I was a horse, I was her baby, she loved me. She licked the birth waters from my coat, drying me slowly, as a family of humans peered over the fence, whispering and murmuring to each other. This is our family, she told me, licking clean my ears and face. I wobbled back and forth under her attention. This is our home. I blinked up at the sky. Family? Home? Yes, she said, our home. And I am your mother. I nickered back. The humans made soft sounds of happiness at my first nicker. I pushed my feet in front of me. They were so long. Get up, said Mother. She moved back a step. Stand up. I didn’t know how. I pushed one long front leg to the side, then a back leg. I pushed my others underneath me. Up, my instincts said. Up, Mother said. I tried. There were just too many legs. I toppled to the side. Again, she licked my wispy mane encouragingly. Try again.

Last Line Game

@jeahreading tagged me in this here tag game, and as fate would have it, the last line I wrote is a hell of a cliffhanger.

Michael wasn’t paying attention, as his entire being was focused on interpreting the series of percussions, no, steps, in the stairwell. “Get ready,” He found himself saying, drawing his sword as to underline his point. “We have visitors."

A piece of writing that has nothing to do with anything really but is very much a part of The Animatronic Saga. Hope you love! 🫶

You are Casanova Calvino. Your mother hates everything about your father except your smile. On the first day of kindergarten, you meet a boy who looks at you like the sun. He sees monsters in the dark so you scare them away. You learn to shoot and fight in the backyard, wrestling with his long limbs when your mother isn't looking. She teaches you both piano. His grandparents die and you are the one to argue with your mother for him to stay while his parents handle the loss. She spits the words, "You sound just like your father" at you for the first time. It will not be the last, but he stays. He goes on anxiety medication at the same time as her research gets greenlit. You love your mother, but the more books you read, the more you hear your friend's father speak, the more your world sounds like history repeating itself. Your mother stops being at home most nights. Your friend stays long past dark. You learn how to sew. How to cook. You love your mother, but you yearn for family dinners at your friend's house in a way you never did before. Your friend is diagnosed with other things, too, with darker names. You read all the psychology books you can get your hands on. You think your mother would be disappointed if she knew he was smarter than you. He's so much smarter than you, but he won't let his parents move him up a grade. He's your only friend. Your mother tells you never to owe anyone anything, but you owe him everything. His mom strokes your face one day and you cry in the bathroom for an hour. Your friend is the one you call when you bleed through your bedsheets. Him and his mom go shopping for you and you throw up your insides because you owe him everything. Your mother would be so disappointed in you. When your mother is home, she's distant. You think she must know. You watch your friend's life build up to something and you watch yours fade to nothing. You are Casanova Calvino. When you are in the 6th grade, you come home from school to find your mother's murderer still draped over her body. You cry on the floor for hours. When her sister-- who you've never even heard of-- comes to drag you away, you go. Your mother would be so disappointed.

Shi Saxe

Shi Saxe, the Vulture, is the infamous scavenger living alone in the Wilds. He's surrounded by rumors that get crazier the more people you ask. The one thing everybody agrees on is that he has no morals and is capable of anything if it brings him personal gain. He's tall and lean. His eyes are brown and he dyes his hair bright colors. There's a permanent smirk on his face. His body is covered with various scars. He rides a bike and wears a helmet/mask resembling a bird's head with a sharp beak and orange eyes. He's good with children and likes cats (but is wary of other animals).

Pros:

tall, dark, and mysterious

is as ambitious in bed as he is in everything else so he will do anything to pleasure his parter

is a big softie under the cold exterior

Hey guys

I just wanted this to be my full formal apology. I've been needing to write this for a few months and I think I was blocked from the right words to say, out of anger and my own struggles. Let me explain

I started this blog last year to get away from writeblr drama and like, some people I considered friends who we all turned on each other and now no longer speak to each other.

I admit I have a part to play in the blame, what I said and did was wrong and I pushed some very important people away when I didn't intend to. I'm learning to be a better person and learning from my mistakes because sometimes I don't understand things and they're not really explained well.

I thought what I was doing, was helping people but maybe I wasn't doing enough, or I was doing too much of the wrong thing. All I know is, looking back on it - I was wrong. And I was too hurt to see that.

I only want to make writeblr and my friends and everyone else, happy. I want writeblr to be a nice place for everyone to get along with, to get feedback and support and all that jazz.

That doesn't make things better. I know I can't go back and repair the bridges that have been burnt and I can't repair those relationships. But just know that I am very sorry if I ever came across as rude or weird. It was not my intention.

Looking back, I could have done things a lot better and through learning things about myself, I've learned that I need to do better. I want to understand. I want to help.

Words can't describe how sorry I am and I know that won't bring anything back. But hopefully we can look to the future now. I want this year onwards to be a good year for everyone I'm friends with, with those who want to get to know me. I don't want to fall out.

I've met so many wonderful people and I really owe everything to you guys. Ya'll are amazing.

He didn’t know why there was a volcano erupting in his gut, but there was no mistaking the building pressure, the burning heat, the panic screaming, get away, get away. His truck was in the driveway, but he’d left his keys…somewhere that wasn’t his pockets, goddammit. The front door of Jacob’s SUV opened for him and slammed satisfyingly once he’d jumped into the driver’s seat. The pedals were a tiny bit far away for comfort, the steering wheel worn down at ten and two o’ clock. I could drive away right now, Michael thought, trying to slow his breathing. I could leave it all behind.

There wasn't much time to think or talk until they got to a dark underbelly of a low overpass. Dog cornered Macaw into sitting down to the cool concrete to gather himself together. The man having what looked like a difficult time calming himself. Breathless and huffing while trying to turn himself away from the riled creature he was behaving like. Mumbled nonsense beneath low grunts. Words wanting to be spoken, but mind moving too quickly for a staggered mouth to utter before the thought was gone. Once Dog knew Macaw was going to stay put for the moment being, he stepped away to give him some space to breathe. The lit end of a cigarette bobbing in the dark held by a shaky hand, drags of habit to settle the stormy. 

Dog still casting watchful glances to the restless man as he left him to join the other two. 

Dog totally isn't doing damage control and playing mediator here. Nope. Never. //sarcasm//

the fun thing about my main three wips is that they all have handy dandy inspo pages i made in their powerpoint intros, so:

BETWIXT THUMB & FOREFINGER

the very obvious inspiration for btaf is twilight--specifically bella's pregnancy arc bc that shit traumatized me. its hilarious because, spoiler for everyone, i never actually read the twilight books. i know everything about twilight through osmosis and the bits of the movis and pop culture and video essay's i've watched about it. it was also inspired by my love of history and gothic literature in general--i went on a whole crusade 2023 reading gothic books and it was (mostly) great (still looking at you trilby you suck ASS). but i put wuthering heights as the main inspiration for btaf too bc a bunch of horrible people in a mansion is sorta the crux of that book. if those of y'all know some of the Deep Ren Lore, y'all know i unintentionally got a wuthering heights fandom blog to deactivate when i pointed out that their bait poll was just a bunch of gender essentialist bullshit and that heathcliff's character is p fucking racist /shrug. wuthering heights actually isn't my favorite book in the world and i've liked it even less as i've aged, but as they say--hating something spawns brilliant work or something like that. the final inspo for btaf was actually roe v wade overturning. i wasn't directly thinking of making a pro choice book until i started the whole historical twilight shit, but if i'm going to make an entire book about pregnancy (basically) then its either gonna have to swing one way or the other and like. very obviously i'm going to swing for pro choice. but the choice aspect of the narrative evolved and grew in many many ways that expand beyond just pregnancy and get more into the realm of transgenderisms and body autonomy and all that fun shit. this book is literally just a bunch of metaphors and commentary in a gothic trench coat.

PARAMOUR

its been awhile since i waxed poetics about paramour but best believe i am still unhinged about it. hilariously, the original idea for paramour was a sort of beauty and the beast retelling with a heaping dosage of crimson peak. but then hya became an asshole AUOFXBJCZK and that ruined all my plans (for the better). everything else that i've listed as inspo has been sorta added after the fact, but generally speaking that's where paramour started. it was also supposed to be a ghost story??? like amon instead of being just a butler was supposed to be a ghost who's body was stolen by what became the keeper too LMAO like it was a lot. it actually used to be called “beauty and the crimson hamlet” WAAAY back in the day if anyone remembers that lmao. there was also some hamlet inspo in there too bc of the whole hya had to figure out what was going on with this body snatching ghost pff. either way, i’m glad paramour is where it is Now bc it’s my darling

the original idea was the rape of persephone + the mongols (history) + sibling relationship + transgenderism. and honestly? this is the main story that’s truly stuck to its origins from Day One lmao—i’ve just expanded the worldbuilding, connected it to other wips, and then started conlanging out of my MIND.
