OC Pride Challenge Day 5 - Make something for an OC who identifies with the aro-ace spectrum
Sheridan à Séaghdha is Aromantic Asexual!
Stargazing in Kansas (TAG verse, pre-canon)
What Sheridan hadn't expected to learn about Kansas was how big a thing stargazing was here.
It probably should've been something she realised sooner - it was a fairly rural place without much light pollution, of course they'd get fantastic views - but it wasn't until John, in response to her idle question about what he could see there, had not only shown her photos he'd taken but proceeded to tell her about all the best stargazing locations that she'd realised she ought to have done a tad more research.
Then he'd offered to take her there some day and a few months later here they were on a stargazing road trip through his home state. So far the whole thing had been amazing (and eventful from the start since she'd visited the Tracy home first and met most of John's brothers in person for the first time), and she would definitely be coming back for another trip.
At the moment they were in the Fall River State Park - 'one of the darkest areas in Kansas' her friend had told her excitedly - and she hadn't expected it to be anything less than spectacular, but...
Seeing the countless stars above them still took her breath away. John had brought his telescope with him but tonight they'd hardly looked through it at all because they hadn't really eneded to. Everything was visible with the naked eye and Sheridan had been in awe for the last hour and probably would be for the next few hours, because...
Well, space, really. What wasn't there to love about it?
"Thanks for agreeing to come with me for this." John said a few minutes later. "I, uh, I know it was kinda last minute for you."
"Planned a month in advance is 'last minute?'" She questioned, amused, and John snorted.
"Fair point, but you know what I mean, Sheridan."
"Yeah, I know what you mean, but course I was gonna come. Seeing the stars while also spending time with my best friend? No way I was gonna pass that up, especially when you guys are gonna be moving at some point and I'm not going to see you as much."
"You do remember we're gonna be sharing an apartment next year, right? And you'll be able to visit the island once everything's settled, but it's just all up in the air at the moment."
"Well, even for you guys making a whole island livable is gonna be a task."
And it wasn't like she couldn't understand why they were doing it - as the Tracy boys grew up they were getting even more attention from the world's press so it was only natural they'd want more privacy, especially for the younger ones, but it would mean she wouldn't see him during their breaks for a while...and that was something that tended to bring her down because she didn't have that many friends so she always liked to make the most of her time with those she did have.
Still, she didn't hold it against him. Sometimes she'd like the opportunity to go stay on a desert island for a while.
"I'm guessing you haven't dropped that part about us rooming together yet," she remarked, grinning, "otherwise Gordon definitely would've made more comments about being your girlfriend."
"I'm really sorry about that, by the way - I didn't expect he'd say that outright."
"You mean you hoped he wouldn't," she said dryly, "but he's a twelve-year-old kid who lives for mischief and chaos and the only reason he hadn't made more comments over the holos was because either your father or older brother was there with him. I'm about ninety-percent sure he doesn't mean it-"
"Ninety percent-"
"And while I don't have siblings I do have seven cousins, some of whom have made similar remarks ever since we became friends."
"Only some?" John asked, raising an eyebrow.
"The others know full well why it'll never happen." She said. "Hell, probably the first lot do too, they just find it funny to pretend otherwise, and Gordon could go either way once I tell him."
John huffed out a laugh at that.
"He's a good kid, but you never quite know what he's gonna do next. Glad I haven't scared you off entirely, though."
"Please, like I was gonna be bothered by that. Besides, Virgil was more than polite enough to make up for it and no doubt Scott will be too if I ever get to meet him. I'd be happy to come again if I'm ever invited."
"If there's time before the move, I'll try and fit you in, but...probably not for Christmas - I value you too much as a friend to subject you to that."
"That bad, huh?"
"You've no idea." He replied solemnly, and Sheridan snickered again.
"I can probably take a pretty good guess." She said, shuffling over so she could lean against him. "That's fine by me, though - so long as we get to do this again someday I'm not bothered in the slightest.
"Absolutely," he said, putting an arm around her, "but there's so many other places I want to show you as well, just so you know."
"I take it you've already compiled a list, then." She teased.
"Nothing wrong with having a list," he defended, "and you mentioned not getting to see this much, so...I thought it would be a good idea."
"...That was about six months ago, John."
"I've an excellent memory." He stated seriously, but there was a twinkle in his eye and Sheridan laughed again as she looped an arm around his shoulders.
"That you do, and it sounds like a great idea, John."
"You think so?"
"Come on, I never say anything I don't mean - if the other trips are anything like this one we're gonna have a fantastic time."
"Glad to hear it, although," he added, "you know we're both probably gonna get more teasing from them because of it."
"Well, that's just the natural consequence of having brothers, I think," she remarked, "but...family's worth it, isn't it?"
"Yeah," John agreed, as they both turned their gazes back to the stars, "family's always worth it."
And honestly? Sheridan knew neither of them would change it for anything in the world.
That was what life was about, after all.

What is Wheel of Time about
Book or TV show?
The book series is 14 very thick fantasy novels with a very large cast (of which when broken down has more named female characters than male) and multiple plot lines. It helped to inspire A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones - but it is far less bleak and has way less sexual violence (a easy accomplishment). If youâre also familiar with the Dune movies/tv shows and Lord of the Rings, youâll also see parallels. And like a lot of fantasy it has SF elements. And if you like Dreamworlds and Alternative Realities and glimpses of the past and such, yeah. Written in the 90s by an old cis straight white guy, but one that was in many ways progressive for his time, so your mileage will vary. Thereâs a post that answers almost exactly this same question that I wrote years ago that goes into this a little more.
But what is it actually about? Itâs called Wheel of Time because the central premise is the world operates as a long circle of time with narrative-driven reincarnation. The book/show world is both the inspiration of all of our real world legends and our far far future after magic is discovered thousands of years in the future and a few calamities have leveled it. What that means is thereâs a lot of Easter Eggs and familiarities if you know your mythology, in particular Arthuriana. For instance, a character hangs from a tree and sacrifices an eye to gain knowledge, has a pair of ravens symbolically important, and their personality is also very trickster-like. At no point are they called Odin, but if you know Norse Mythology, you go âoh yeah this guy inspires stories about Odin or is his reincarnationâ. Thereâs a lot of vague Jungian and Vedic inspiration if you canât tell.
Okay, really.
3,000 years ago was a high-tech peaceful society where some people could do magic and thus worked as public servants, very utopian. But then Evil Personified was unsealed, monsters and war unleashed, some of the wizards turned evil, long war was fought. One of the most powerful wizards, a man nicknamed Dragon, seals away both the Dark One and the top evil henchmen wizards - but it was a patch job. Evil monsters still around, people still pledge loyalty to cause evil. And as a counterattack during the sealing, the Dark One is able to place a sickness on the male half of the Power which forces every male wizard then and in the future to go mad. In their madness they destroy the world. Thousands of haywire magical nukes would do that. Female side of wizard Power is still okay, so only female wizards left. They help rebuild the world; societies that re-emerge are thus far more matriarchal than the real world. Men would can use magic are hunted down before they can go mad and start hurting themselves and others. People are understandably Terrified of Male Wizards. Only female wizards allowed. These female Aes Sedai, their Wizard Vatican City, and their factions are a large portion of the plot of both book and tv show. Do you want to see a lot of middle-aged women in gorgeous costumes fighting with magic and scheming? This is the show for you.
So, 3,000 years later, the Pattern that controls-and is created by- the Wheel of Time (lot of weaving and loom metaphor in the metaphysics) decides that the Dragon needs to be reincarnated along with a couple other key people in order to have another Last Battle against the Dark One to hopefully start a new turn of the Wheel/new age (and on evilâs side hereâs the chance to reset things in their favor or break the Wheel itself).
Moiraine, an Aes Sedai, learns through a prophecy that the Dragon has just been reborn, so she spends the next twenty years trying to find them before evil does. Thereâs a long list of accumulated prophecies about the Last Battle and the people and events around it people are also worried about. Lot of plotting as everyone thinks they have the best idea of how to do it. Again, in comparison to Game of Thrones where almost everyone was scheming to win the Iron Throne and ignoring the White Walker invasion, think of it as here all the rulers know about the White Walkers coming and theyâre fighting wars with each other to be the one to lead armies against the White Walkers because only their plan will work.
A common joke is that this very very long book series would be much shorter if characters properly talked and coordinated with each other. Teamwork is a central theme (both when you have it and when you donât).
In an isolated community (think The Shire but instead of hobbits itâs a bunch of tax dodging Appalachian hillbillies or Elizabethan yeoman) Moiraine finds five young people that the Pattern has singled out as Very Powerful Main Characters. Okay, she thinks, one of them is the Dragon Reborn.
Problem is, none of them want to do the Magic Quest Protagonist Plot Stuff; they know that sucks. Moiraine has to get them to do it anyway. Our Gandalf figure is a middle aged queer woman (with a strictly platonic soulmate bodyguard) who has trouble with sharing the whole truth to other people (she is magically forbidden from outright lying) stuck herding a bunch of cats named Rand, Mat, Perrin, and Egwene. And later Nynaeve. By the end of book one/season one we know (but the rest of the world doesnât) who the Dragon Reborn is - and that they need their friends and others by their side to have a chance of winning the Last Battle. All of them are main characters. Yes, the Dragon Reborn is Main Character- but more than one book in those 14 has barely any page-time dedicated to them. Plot is a Tapestry; not a line. Thatâs the least spoilerly explanation that I can give.
The tv show is about to start season three in a week (which will be mostly plot from book four, arguably the best book). Each season is eight episodes. Covid and recasting issues meant that the finale of season one had to be reworked and the first book was always the weakest with an infamously weird/weak ending. The show obviously had to change a lot form the monster book series, but it has imho the spirit of the books and often improved them. The casting is diverse- properly so instead of just tokenism- which pissed off a lot of racist fans. That and changes from books and that the main showrunner is a gay man means that thereâs a vocal online faction of haters. My two main fantasy series, formative in fact, are Wheel of Time and the Silmarillion/Tolkien. I ADORE the Wheel of Time tv show but I could barely watch any of Rings of Power. Make of that what you will.
Hopefully, anon, this was helpful.

Screaming from the rooftop:
It's time to stop calling the paragon/renegade system a morality system! I argue that it's a reputation system that has been for too long mislabeled.
#mass effect#a friend is playing through the series for thw first time and him commenting on paragon/renegade choices got me thinking about this again#like of course it doesn't make sense that people can magically tell you have enough good/bad points to listen to you when you say something#but if you've curated a reputation as someone who is willing to talk it out of course people are going to believe you when you want to work#things out peacefully#and vice versa if you've proven to be ruthless in the past they'll know your threats actually have teeth to them#also binary morality systems are just bad

I've developed mathematics for a non-human mind, for my comic "The book written by tiny paws"
Sapient distant descendants of rats, known as packers, living on Earth millions of years after the extinction of humans, began to develop mathematics using cognitive mechanisms never intended for such tasks. Due to an evolutionary quirk, multiplication came more naturally to them than addition, and their mathematics reflects this.
Packers write numbers as shapes, with each number having a corresponding number of corners.
And they write large numbers as nested shapes. The number inside is multiplied by the number outside.
Examples of some numbers:
Packers haven't invented 0 yet. They haven't even invented 1! In fact, they donât need the concept of "one" much in their system. There's no need to say "I ate one fish" when they can simply say "I ate fish".
Packers can't yet write large prime numbers, like 101 or 10,501, because they would have to draw a huge shape to represent them! Even writing 17 or 19 would be quite difficult if they only used convex shapes.
So packers use non-convex shapes too!
Many years later, some packer noticed that large prime numbers look suspiciously symmetric.
So this packer improved the notation system and made it clearer.
Later, another packer simplified this system even more, deciding that there was no point in writing the same shapes twice.
This packer was the first in their culture to declare that "a dot isolated from a number" should also be considered a number. The packer called this dot "the wonderful number that's less than two".
Many years later, another packer made an important innovation: the "dot isolation" could be repeated multiple times as long as the result remained odd. When the result became even, it could undergo a "two isolation" (division by two). The final result will be a series of dots and twos.
This invention led to the creation of a binary system based on one and two, which had a significant impact on the technological advancement of packers.
The comic "the book written by tiny paws" talks about all of this in more detail. There will be mistakes, debates, the invention of rational, irrational, multivariate numbers, and some other stuff. Some stuff will be very much like human math, and some will be different. After all, math is still math, only the point of view has changed.

I watchrd the murder bot show. I heard some book fans think itâs nonbinary and some argue it likes it pronouns. Why? Isnât it dehumanizing? And is the guy who forced it to Murderbot to make eye contact, via orders ableist? I can see why book readers think it is autistic coded. I feel weird calling a nonbinary-coded, autistic-coded lifeform it. Does it really prefer those pronouns? I read on tumblr thay apparently it does. I personally donât prefer it/itâs pronouns, but not all enbies are the same.
Hiya!
I suppose it's not surprising that an ask like this would show up, if not in my inbox, than somebody's! Murderbot's pronouns are something I've consistently seen lots of questions about over the years, and with an influx of new folks being introduced due to the show, there's going to be more than ever.
First of all: thanks for asking these questions. I think when first being introduced to a new idea, such as a set of pronouns you're unfamiliar with, asking open and honest questions shows great intellectual curiosity and interest in understanding others.
There's a few different questions in this ask, so I'm going to try and break this down into sections, and to tackle them one by one. (And for the record, most of my answers here will be in reference to the books, not the TV show, because a) I haven't seen the show [yet] and b) there's only 2 episodes of it out right now anyway. I have no idea how closely the two texts are going to align, but I certainly hope it doesn't take away the book series' queer themes and representation.)
1. What's Murderbot's gender, and what pronouns does it use?
Murderbot is agender/non-gendered, and uses it/its pronouns.
For the record, I don't think this is just a reading or an interpretation. Rather, this is canonical, and on the same level as saying, "Bruce Wayne is a man who uses he/him pronouns."
Admittedly, there's never a place where the character says "My name is Murderbot, I'm non-binary, and I use it/its pronouns." In my opinion, one of the the strengths of the books is that it has much more subtle worldbuilding than that, both in general and in regards to casual queerness. However, throughout its first-person narration, Murderbot consistently uses "it" to refer to itself, and shows a general alienation and distaste for gender stuff in general. Its friends/allies, even after long acquaintance, continue using it/its.
Textual examples include:
Book 1: Yes, talk to Murderbot about its feelings. The idea was so painful I dropped to 97 percent efficiency. Book 2: To initiate the meeting, Iâd had to make an entry on the social feed, too. The system was extremely vulnerable to hacking, so I had backdated my entry to look like I had come in on an earlier passenger transport, listed my job as âsecurity consultant,â and my gender as indeterminate. Book 5: "No, it says it's fine," I heard her relaying to others on the comm. "Well, yes, it's furious." Book 6: I posted a feed ID with the name SecUnit, gender = not applicable, and no other information. Book 7: I was as indifferent to human gender as it was possible to be without being unconscious.
And while I think it's unnecessary, given the textual evidence, we can bring in Word of God too, courtesy of the book's author Martha Wells:

So, okay, Murderbot uses it/its pronouns! Which leads into the next question...
Why does Murderbot use 'It/Its' pronouns? Isn't that dehumanizing?
Yes, and that's just the way Murderbot likes it!
I think the reason this is often a stumbling block for folks is that a main focus of the early series-- especially book 1, or as the case may be, first episodes of the new adaptation-- is establishing that Murderbot Is A Person. From there, it's an easy leap to go: Therefore, Murderbot Is Human. After all, it has a human face.
But the second part of the central theme is: Murderbot is a person, but not a human person.
It is half-bot, half-human, all SecUnit. It has things in common with both of those halves, and emergent properties unique to itself. More than that, Murderbot is deeply alienated from the human experience. It spent the majority of its life being treated like an object, and appliance, and a weapon.
Murderbot chooses to embrace those aspects of its identity by continuing to use it/its pronouns. And yeah, it's clear that this often makes other folks feel uncomfortable. But that's a big part of it too. Murderbot's arc is about learning how to exist, as itself, unapologetically. It doesn't need to sand off those uncomfortable parts of its existence that make the humans around it uncomfortable. They just have to deal.
Okay, but that's Murderbot, a fictional character. What about actual real people?
That's a great point! And indeed, I don't care so much about Murderbot's pronouns for its own sake. It's a fictional character, it can't and doesn't care what real world people call it. But I think respecting its pronouns is an extension of respecting real living folks who DO use it/its pronouns, so let's talk about it!
(And for the record, I am not nonbinary. I'm also not not nonbinary? But I'm a sapphic butch with an often masc gender presentation, so it's like, an Overlap. My point being I'll do my best to speak to this perspective, but really, you're best seeking out the perspectives of actual it/its users and nonbinary folks.)
Various non-binary, agender, and other gender queer folks use it/its pronouns. The reasons vary hugely. Explanations I've seen are:
Generally feeling alienated from the human experience
Feeling a greater connection to non-human identities, like animals or robots
Connection to the many beautiful things exist in the world which (in English) have it/its pronouns applied to them-- think the ocean, or food, or celestial bodies.
A gender neutral pronoun that doesn't introduce the plural ambiguity of 'they/them' and isn't a neopronoun set folks need to learn.
Reclamation of insults they've received
and idk, they just sort of like it? Sometimes things aren't that deep.
And probably a whole bunch more reasons!
And really, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what I think of it. While we can get deep into the theory of pronouns, at the end of the day, using the pronouns people prefer is just common courtesy. You can personally find it weird and uncomfortable, and you can work through it in your own time... But if someone asks, just use the pronouns they want!
Was the guy who forced it to Murderbot to make eye contact via orders ableist?
Okay, again, I haven't seen the show yet, so I don't have full context. But was the guy Gurathin? I bet it was Gurathin. While he didn't do that specifically in the book, he did pull some similar stunts.
In short, yeah, probably. It's a dick move regardless.
In long, I don't think he was being deliberately ableist. The guy is viewing the situation through a very different framework, namely, 'this SecUnit is a threat and a danger, and I am trying to control the situation'. Very likely, if he met a human colleague or acquaintance who asked not to make eye-contact, or just very clearly didn't like it, he probably would be chill and accommodating.
But the thing is, plenty of folks are ableist in day-to-day life without meaning to be ableist! You'll see folks be like "this person is so annoying because they do 'X thing', and it's not like they have an autism diagnosis or anything", as if the formal diagnosis is a magic wand to make certain behaviours okay. In general, things would be better if we just got better at accommodating benign behaviours that exist outside the norm without explanation.
[And frankly, my bigger concern here is less "ableism", and more "using his social power to force somebody who is a slave to follow his orders", but that's neither here nor there.]
Is it ableist to call a non-binary coded, autistic coded lifeform it/its?
Well, I mean, context matters?
A lot of shitty people will use it/its in a cruel way to various neurodivergent and queer people. They are deliberately intending to demean and dehumanize. That's shitty. Whether that's ableist or queerphobic would depend on the context, but it would be deliberately shitty.
And indeed, if you were to take another similar character... say Data from Star Trek, or Peridot from Steven Universe, and call either of them 'it', then again, depending on the context, I might call that shitty too! Their canonical pronouns are he/him and she/her respectively, and refusing to use those pronouns because "they're not really people" or "it's not a man/woman" would be a deliberately provoking move.
But if someone-- be it a fictional character, and even more so, a real person-- asks to be called "it"? That's their choice. The context has changed. It's not ableist, it's not queerphobic. That's just respecting them.
#murderbot diaries#murderbot tv show#tmbd#it/its pronouns#gender stuff#long post#huge thank you for folks in the Murderbot Discord who helped me source quotes from the books!#and again#i'm cis#just doing my best here#fully encourage any nonbinary folks to weigh in

A soft breeze blew through the trees, the leaves rustling and dancing overhead as you hiked through the dense grass. Glancing to the left, you noticed the sky starting to take on a darker hue. You pulled your sleeve back, checking the dial of your watch that read it was getting later in the day.
You should be heading back; you were heading back. It wasnât entirely your fault that you kept getting distracted by the scenery. It was unlike anything youâd ever seen in any science fiction movie or show. The lush forest of the alien moon, orbiting a massive desert planet, wasnât something you could have ever imagined. Minho had said the planet was called Kojar 6, orbiting a large star called Kojar which was part of the Kojar-Faline binary star system. There were 7 planetoids, Kojar 6 being the largest of the pack with two moons.
You had wanted to visit Kojar 6 but Minho had explained that there was nothing on the planet anymore. Nothing but sand being whipped around by the intense winds. Winds that could potentially rip a person to shreds. There were no people, no buildings, no animals on the surface. Only sand.
He promised the moons were much more interesting.
The first moon was an icy wasteland that reminded you of Hoth from the Star Wars series. Minho refused to land there, calling it a frozen and barren wasteland like Kojar 6 only instead of sand, it was ice and snow. That moon was called Ciyebos. The second, the one you were currently visiting, was a tropical world called Zocunia. It was a lush, vibrant jungle world not unlike that of Pandora in the Avatar franchise.
The flora and fauna were both incredibly unique, with very few predators. The few that did exist, you were confident in dealing with should you come across them. Since bringing you along to Ninsa, Minho had been insistent that you learn to defend yourself as he couldnât always be around to protect you.
Much of the flora was incredibly beautiful, looking like something out of a fantasy world or a science fiction movie. Vibrants blues, purples, greens, and even turquoises, and pinks. Back home, on Earth, the more vibrant something was, the more dangerous it was. On other planets, that rule didnât always apply.
As you continued to trudge through the knee high thick green grass, something round, bulbous, and bright caught your eye. You froze, turning your head to find nestled at the base of a tree that extended tens of feet towards the sky was a cluster of plants.
You carefully walked over, stepping over exposed roots and boulders. As you reached it, you knelt down, inspecting the plant. Youâd long learned not to just touch things after contacting a rash from a flower that looked incredibly pretty and harmless. Minho luckily knew a remedy and was able to get rid of it with relative ease.
You instead raised the camera in your hands, a gift from your alien fiance from his world that heâd given you on your one year anniversary. Your phone could have worked for pictures but the device would only survive space travel for so long whereas this device was much better designed for space travel.
You snapped a few pictures, the shutter clicking as you pressed the button with the flowers in focus.
Looking up from the LCD display screen of the camera, you inspected the flowers with more scrutiny.Â
They were glowing, having some sort of bioluminescence that a lot of flora on this moon seemed to exhibit. An evolutionary trait, Minho had explained when you first asked him about it.
âMuch of this worldâs flora has evolved to glow at night. Itâs both a defense mechanism and a hunting tactic. Half of the lunar year, this moon is bathed in darkness, hiding behind Kojar 6. The bioluminescence lets the plants still feed and ward off predators at the same time.â
You loved listening to him as he seemed to be full of knowledge youâd never be able to learn on your own. Heâd promised to take you to the libraries on Ninsa when you eventually landed there. Minho had promised that heâd take you to his home world, let you see his life and be part of it.
It took Minho three years to return to Earth and find you after you left Derry and your old life behind. He asked you to travel with him. To leave Earth behind and travel to Ninsa with him. He explained how the three years apart had been hell and he didnât want to return to his home without you.
The opportunity to travel was one you wanted more than anything so you didnât need much persuasion and readily agreed to leave behind your life to be with him. To see something far beyond what anyone could ever dream of. It was all you wanted more than anything in the universe.
It wasnât long after you left Earth that Minho professed his love for you, asking you to spend the rest of your lives together to which you immediately said yes. You had been on an alien planet, enjoying the sunset when he asked you out of the blue. He didnât have a ring to give you but he promised that the moment you landed on Ninsa, he would get you one.
You tilted your head, looking at the translucent membrane of the bulbous flower, a slight swirling inside, visible only due to the bioluminescence source deep in the center of the plant. As you leaned closer, the light started pulsating and you instantly drew back. âAlright,â you said softly. âTime to go.â
You snapped one more picture before shutting off the camera and pulling at the lens cover to place it back over the lens but no matter how hard you tugged, it wouldnât come loose from the holder. âGoddamn it,â you grumbled as you tried to pry it off. âWhat the fu- oh shit!â
Just as you were pulling, it finally came loose but slipped from your grip and fell onto the flowers, bouncing off the bulbous membrane and falling to the ground. You scrambled to pick it up, snapping it onto the lens and looking up with wide eyes as the translucent flower trembled. Before you could draw back, the leaves popped open into a five petal flower, a cloud of sparkling purple dust exploding from the pressure trapped within.
You stumbled backwards sputtering as you waved your hand, trying to diffuse the dust and coughing. âFuck,â you mentally cursed, looking over your clothes, noticing the glittery dust had settled and as you tried to brush it off, it only seemed to spread more along the gray body suit Minho had given you.
You looked around and sighed before getting to your feet slowly. âGuess Iâm gonna need to shower,â you whispered to yourself and started the walk back to camp where the ship was. You could use the outdoor shower Minho had set up for the two of you and hopefully he could grab you a spare suit from the ship.
You used your clean hand to rub your nose, a tickle settling in as you headed in the direction of camp, hoping whatever this dust was that it wasnât toxic.
Minho took a deep breath, keeping his eyes forward as he watched the third bhunqoi hop closer and closer to his trap. Heâd managed to capture two already and needed a third for dinner. The small lagomorph-like critter turned its head in his direction and Minho froze, hoping he hadnât been made but when it took one more hop, falling into his pit trap, he knew success.
He sighed a breath of relief, getting up and pushing the leaves blocking his body from sight off and making his way over to look into the pit. It would seem the animal landed in a way that ensured it did not suffer. Minho hated hunting but sometimes it was a necessary evil for survival.
He collected the animal and moved back to his hiding place, grabbing the cloth bag with the wild fruits and vegetables heâd gathered before heading in the direction of camp. Heâd allowed you to go off on your own and explore the perimeter surrounding their camp, making sure the stakes were still standing after the storm the night before.
He knew tropical storms on Zocunia were bad this time of year which is why he chose to pick a spot in the forest instead of on a beach or grassland. The trees provided an extra shelter over the ship, not that the hull really needed it.Â
Heâd upgraded his ship upon returning to Ninsa after leaving Earth the first time, ensuring that in the event of any more spontaneous crash landings, the hull would still remain intact.Â
The Kojar was starting to set, bathing the landscape in an orange-ish golden glow, shadows becoming elongated and more pronounced as he finally reached the ship. His foraging hadnât taken him far from camp, and hunting had brought him closer as he tried to stay within the perimeter.
Minho reached your base camp relatively quickly and immediately started a fire and prepared the meat for roasting while wondering where you could have gotten to that you would still be gone from camp. He tried not to fear the worst, knowing he prepared you for time on your own but he couldnât help it. This was an alien planet and while most of the animals were docile, he really didnât want another incident like the alien wolf encounter.
You had spent a couple days on a beautiful alien planet with him where he couldnât hold himself back and asked you to marry him when you both returned to his home world. It had been spontaneous and spur of the moment but he meant every word when he said he never wanted to be without you again.Â
He wanted to start a life with you on Ninsa, get married, buy a house, all the domestic things his friends were starting to do. He wanted all of that with you. Children was another topic you would have to have at some point because while he knew you were biologically compatible, there were other ways of having children. Other ways of starting a family.
As he set up the bhunqoi to roast in the flames, he sat in one of the chairs heâd set up and waited for you to return while he peeled and prepared the fruits heâd managed to forage. He was sure the conversation would happen sooner or later and when it did, things would be much clearer on where you both stood.
You were getting closer to camp as you walked, noticing the small signs you set up for yourself as you trudged through the forest. âWhen did it get so hot?â you whispered, wiping a bead of sweat from your forehead. As you walked, your body started to feel hotter and hotter. Almost like you had a fever.
Maybe it was the dust youâd come into contact with but you couldnât be certain. Minho would know more. You just needed to get back to camp. âAlmost thereâŠâÂ
You stopped briefly to lean against a tree, letting out a pant as your breathing started to increase, your heart rate rising as well. You werenât sure what was going on and you really hoped whatever was affecting you wasnât some sort of toxin and that you might be able to sleep it off.Â
Reaching up, you unzipped the neck of your bodysuit down to the top of your bust, letting out a sigh of relief as the cool air hit your skin, a thin layer of sweat starting to form. It wasnât much but it was something. You pushed off the tree, starting your hike up again and hoping to reach the camp before the sun set, despite the very pretty bioluminescence.
Your panties were starting to stick to you and though you hoped it was just the sweat, the heat settling in the pit of your stomach told you otherwise. You couldnât understand it. You were alone in the middle of a jungle on an alien moon. What could possibly have worked you up so much when Minho was somewhere else entirely.
You tried to push the images of your fiancee from your mind as your body started to burn and ache for his touch. âJust to help me feel better. Not because I want to fuck or anything,â you told yourself. You just wanted the heat to end and your body to settle down. âMinho will know what to do.âÂ
Minhoâs ears picked up on the sound of twigs snapping and looked up, seeing a form moving through the shadow of the canopy, a smile forming as you entered his line of sight, ambling along. His silly, clumsy, little human fiancee. He watched as you finally emerged from the understory, a smirk on his face. âWelcome back,â he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.
His smile fell immediately as you stumbled forward, nearly falling. It was then that he noticed the feverish look on your face. There was no way that was good. âY/N, sweetheart?â he asked, voice laced with concern as he got up and started to walk over, crossing the distance to catch you as your knees gave out. âMâokay,â you murmured, fingers gripping his biceps as he held you up.
âLike hell you are,â Minho growled as he helped you back over to the ship. âWhat happened?â he asked, helping you into a chair by the fire. âI-I donât know,â you breathed heavily, swallowing the lump in your throat. The burning sensation had spread, an ache settling between your thighs, the gusset of your panties was beyond soaked by this point and you knew it wasnât from sweat.
Minho pressed his palm against your forehead, clicking his tongue as he measured your temperature in the most basic of ways. âYouâre burning up,â he noted. âYou need to get in the show--â his voice trailed off as he noticed a purplish glittery dust on your clothes. Glancing down, he could see that it had transferred to his hands and clothes. âWhat is this?â he asked, glancing up and noticing the dust on your cheeks and nose.
âI dropped the camera lens cap into this cluster of flowers,â you panted. âI took pictures of it,â you added, pointing at the camera case. Minho shook his head. âDonât worry about that right now, my star,â he said softly. âLetâs get you into the shower.â
Minho helped you up, leading you over to the outdoor shower heâd set up and helped you peel out of your suit before heading for the shipâs entrance, taking your suit with him and putting it in the wash. He stripped himself, adding his clothes to the wash as well and changing into some spare clothing.
Once back outside, he returned to the fire, turning the roasted bhunqoi over and sitting back.
He was thankful heâd taken the suit off as he started to grow warm. He sat for a moment, the heat settling in his senses, spreading throughout his body. It was a burning desire unlike anything heâd ever felt before. âWhat is wrong with you, idiot?â he berated himself. Was it the thought of you being naked in the outdoor shower? It wasnât like he wasnât used to being intimate with you.Â
Since leaving earth and setting a course for Ninsa, he hadnât been able to keep his hands off you at all. It was nothing new. So why was he so hot right now? His thoughts were interrupted as his eyes fell on the camera case and got up, crossing the distance to grab it and unzipped the pouch, pulling out the camera and pressing the button to turn it on.
The screen lit up, displaying the brand logo before going black, a little window popping up to remind him that the lens cap was still on. Minho ignored it, opening the gallery instead. He scrolled through the photos, a small smile on his face as he saw what you had seen.
He cleared his throat, feeling his pants tighten. âWhat the hell?â he asked himself as he looked down. He tried to ignore the obvious tent growing in his pants, uncertain of what was causing it. Itâs like his body was acting on its own accord. The thought of joining you in the shower crossed his mind and he grimaced. âThis is hardly the time,â he told himself as he tried to push the thoughts aside.
He returned his focus to the camera, scrolling through the pictures until he stopped on an image of the flowers you must have been talking about. They werenât like anything heâd seen before. The bioluminescence was familiar, but the translucent milky membrane and the swirling purple glitter inside were not.
âIs it some sort of toxin?â he wondered, zooming in on the picture to inspect it. Minho turned the camera off as he heard the outdoor shower turn off and set the device aside, getting and grabbing the spare clothes he'd grabbed for you and walked over.
You pulled back the curtain, peeking out at him. Your eyes were glossed over, not unlike when he had you spread out underneath him. âI brought you some clean clothes,â he said softly. âAnd this.â He held up a clean towel. You thanked him, taking the towel and dropping the curtain back in place as you wrapped yourself up.
âDid you bring any shoes?â you asked, pulling back the curtain and looking up at him. Minho nodded, holding out the slides you'd brought with you from home. You thanked him, slipping them on and stepping out of the shower. The cool air felt nice against your burning skin, heat still coursing through your veins and pooling in your belly.Â
Minho tore his gaze from the exposed skin of your shoulder, trying to ignore the way the droplets of water rolled down your skin. He handed the clean clothes to you before reaching his hand up to feel your forehead. His hand was warm against your skin as he pressed his palm against your head. âYou're still burning up,â he murmured.
He took your free hand in his, raising it to press a tender kiss to the back. âGo inside and lie down. I'll come get you once it's done.â You leaned into him, resting your forehead against his shoulder. âMm,â you hummed. âCome with me.â
Minho chuckled, taking your face in his hands and raising your head. âI'll burn dinner if I do that,â he said with a grin before leaning in to press his lips to yours. He intended for the kiss to be soft, gentle. What he hadn't expected was your reaction.
You leaned into the kiss, pressing against him and moaning. It made his cock twitch against his pants and he had to force himself to pull back. âIt's getting chilly out here,â he murmured, rubbing your arms. âGo inside and get dressed,â he added, gently pushing you in the direction of the door.
You grumbled, almost getting what you wanted before Minho took it away. Begrudgingly, you made your way into the ship, the door shutting behind you. You walked over to the bed, setting down the clothes and slipping off the slides. As you started to unwrap the towel, an idea planted itself into your head.
You'd just have to deal with it yourself.
Minho pulled the roasted bhunqoi from the fire, inspecting it carefully. Pleased with the results, he removed both from the fire and got up, setting them aside as he made his way to the ship. The whole time you'd been inside, he'd tried to calm himself, tried to will away the intrusive thoughts of following you inside and having his way with you.Â
He still didn't know what had gotten into him but the longer he tried to ignore the intense burning desire to fuck you, the stronger it got.
The door to the ship opened with a soft hiss, allowing him to step over the threshold. Once he was clear, it shut with the same soft hiss and Minho walked further into the depths of his ship.
âDinner's ready,â he called, turning the corner. âAre you feeling any--â he trailed off, eyes widening at the sight before him. âBetter?â
You were sitting on the bed, towel still wrapped around you as you looked up at him, eyes wide. Your clothes lay forgotten on the floor. It wasn't just that what had made him freeze up. It was the fact that your hand had disappeared between your thighs.
He'd walked in on you in the middle of touching yourself. âWhat are you doing?â he asked, eyes dipping to your hand that was currently being squeezed between your thighs and back up to your face. Your glossy eyes looked back at him, a pout on your lips.
âMâsorry,â you whined. âI thought I'd be done before you came in. I'm just so hot. I couldn't take it anymore!â Minho felt his pants tighten as his cock strained against them, aching to be buried inside you instead of your fingers. He'd heard you, but his mind went blank as the scent of your arousal hit him, his rainbow irises flashing once before shifting to purple.
âSpread your legs,â he ordered. Your heart jumped into your throat before settling back in its place, hammering against your ribs. âWh-what?â you asked as he walked over. âSpread your legs,â he repeated, lowering himself to his knees in front of you, eyes dipping down to look at your thighs and then back up.
âNow.â
You did as he said, slowly spreading your thighs. Minho grabbed your wrist, pulling your hand away from your sex and inspecting your fingers coated in your own arousal. You watched as he glanced up at you and back at your hand before taking your fingers in his mouth, groaning at your taste. âYou thought you'd just get yourself off in here when I'm right outside?â he growled, dropping your hand and grabbing your hips with both hands.
You let out a gasp as he scooted you closer to his face, your ass barely sitting on the edge of the bed. âThought you'd keep all this to yourself?â he whispered, licking his lips as he eyed your pussy. âAs if I wouldn't eat you out the second you asked me,â he added with a scoff. He leaned in, licking up your sex slowly, eyes shut as gently savored the taste. He groaned, pulling back to look at you.
âLie back,â he said, bringing a hand up to push against your shoulder, dragging his fingers down to loosen the towel and free your chest. âM'gonna fuck that fever out of you.â
You leaned back, propping yourself on your elbows as Minho lifted your thighs over his shoulders. He buried his face between your thighs, making you cry out, head falling back as he immediately went for your clit. You were already so wet, your cunt clenching around nothing, aching to be filled.
âMin, baby,â you whined, moving one of your hands to comb through his hair. âYou know I love it when you use your tongue, but I really need your cock.â Minho groaned, the lewd sounds of him licking and sucking your clit would normally make you shy away but right now, you didn't care. You really just needed to be fucked.
âMinmin,â you cooed, combing through his hair again, fingers knotting in his hair as he flicked his tongue against you. âPlease, baby, please give me your cock,â you whimpered, hips moving in tandem with his tongue. He pulled back, looking up at you with those bright purple irises, his lips and chin coated in your arousal. âAw, babyâŠâ he murmured, fingers skimming up the inside of your thigh.Â
âYou need me that badly?â he asked. You nodded fervently. âYes baby,â you breathed. âPlease.â Minho couldnât deny you when you begged so sweetly. He could get used to that. You, lying on your back before him, begging him for his cock.
âYou think you can take it so soon?â he asked with a chuckle. You scrambled up, letting the towel fall to the floor as you turned away and bent over, knees spread on the mattress as you all but presented yourself to him. âYes,â you replied breathlessly. âWant it so bad. Take me.â You could see your boyfriend's eyes gloss over as he was face to face again with your sopping cunt.
âFine,â he growled, getting to his feet and ripping the shirt off over his head. âNo prep, but I don't want to hear you whining about it later,â he added as he hastily unbuttoned his jeans and pushed them along with his underwear down.
His cock sprang free, softly hitting your ass as he grabbed your hips, the tip already leaking. He spat into his hand, coating his length with it before guiding the tip to your hole. Letting out a groan, Minho cursed in Ninsan as he pushed deeper into you, his grip on your hips bruising.
You whined, pushing back on him as sheathing more of his massive cock inside you. The stretch was unlike anything you'd experienced with him before. There was no pain though. Minho stopped and you groaned, finally feeling full. The satisfaction didn't last long though and soon the heat was spreading again.
You needed to be fucked and you needed it now.
âMinmin, please,â you whimpered. âPlease fuck me.â
Hearing your soft cries for him spurred Minho on, forcing him to pull back, half of his cock sliding out before he thrust into you, filling your cunt in one motion. He choked back a moan, nails digging into your skin as he hissed and cursed again. âSo fucking good,â he moaned, thrusting again, making your body shift forward, even with his tight grip on your hips. âTaking me so well.â
âMinhooo,â you whined as he set a steady pace, pumping in and out with measured thrusts. âDon't hold back,â you gasped, walls clenching around him. âFuck me like you mean it.â
Minho groaned, head dropping as you squeezed him. His hips stuttered to a halt. âYou can't be serious,â he panted. âAngel, I don't wanna hurt you,â he continued. You shook your head, your skin burning and a thin layer of sweat already coating your body.
âGod damn it, Minho,â you snapped, looking over your shoulder at him. âFuck me like you mean it. I want you to fuck me until I can't walk!â Your tone must have flipped a switch in your boyfriend and he let out a growl, one hand moving to your shoulder and forcing your chest down against the mattress.
Without answering you, he started to thrust faster, hips hitting your ass with renewed attention. He'd been holding back, not wanting to injure you but when you snapped at him like that, it made his mind go blank and the only thing he could think about was fucking you.
Well, fucking you and breeding you.
âOh my god,â you gasped as he leaned over, now both hands on your shoulders as he kept your chest against the bed, ass up and bouncing with each thrust. âFuck, feels so good,â you moaned. Minho said nothing, grunting in response as your walls gripped him tighter. âShit, yes. Just like that!â you mewled, feeling the head of his cock bump into the soft spot inside you, making you see stars.
âHng, right there! Don't stop, baby!â
Minho let out a growl, hips never faltering for a moment. âGod, yes, holy shit!â you gasped, your orgasm washing over you like a tidal wave. A rush of euphoria swept through you but Minho wasn't done. He'd slowed down, fucking you through your orgasm but as you came down from your high, he kept going, hips smacking into yours, the sound of skin against skin drowning out his pants.
âMin, baby?â you moaned, sliding your arms under you to push yourself up. âNo,â Minho growled. âNot done!â You let out a moan as he pushed you back down. âBreed,â he growled. âNeed to breed.â You groaned loudly as he continued to thrust into you quickly.
âGonna fill you up. Gonna breed you,â he hissed. Your fingers dug into the sheets, moans turning into cries with each harsh thrust. âBreed, breed,â Minho murmured. You felt his cock twitch inside you, letting out a wanton moan as he slammed into you from behind. âMm fuck!â he cursed. âBreed, breed, breed,â he chanted softly.
Tears slipped from the corners of your eyes, the pleasure both overwhelming and incredible. Your thighs trembled as a second orgasm loomed. âTh-that's right,â you groaned, playing into his words. âBreed me, Min, fill me up. Put a baby in me.â
Minho let out an animalistic growl, fingers curling over your shoulders, nails digging into your skin as he somehow thrust even harder and deeper, making you scream into the sheets, your own fingers curling into the linens. âFuck, fuck, fuck!â you heard your boyfriend snarl. âM'gonna cum. Gonna fill you up so much.â
âF-fill me up, Minho, please!â you cried out. âFuck me. Make me your breeding bitch, Minho. Do it!â Your boyfriend let out a noise that sounded like a mix between a growl and a groan, thrusting into you a few times more before you felt the warm gush of his load spilling into you. âF-fuuuck,â you groaned.
You could feel his cock pressing into your cervix as he pumped you full of his cum. At the same time, you felt the base of his cock swell. âWell thatâs new,â you thought as you lifted your head. âWhassat?â you mumbled, letting out a groan as your walls stretched around him.
âS'okay,â he mumbled, leaning down to press kisses all over your shoulders. âHave to keep it all in,â he added. You only then processed that he was still pumping you full of cum. âMinmin?â you asked, trying to push yourself up but he quickly and gently pushed you back down. âShhh,â he whispered. âJust lie still, baby,â he continued. âHave to stay still. Just for a little while.â
You felt your belly slowly start to swell, more cum filling your walls than you'd even experienced before. You felt one of Minho's hands move to your belly, just under your navel where it had swollen slightly. âHave to stay still, yeah?â he whispered, lips brushing against the shell of your ear. âStay still and make sure it takes.â
âMake sure what takes, Min?â you asked softly.
You felt him rub your belly soothingly, his cock twitching inside you. âYou said breed you,â he reminded you. And your eyes fluttered shut. âMinho,â you sighed. âWe arenât compatible,â you added as a reminder. You felt him press a kiss to your shoulder. âI know,â he murmured.
âBut imagine if we were,â he whispered in your ear. âImagine what cute babies weâd make.â
The idea of a mini hybrid of you and your alien lover made you smile, a soft sigh escaping you as he continued to press tender kisses to your neck and shoulder. Your eyes opened and you turned your head slightly to glance back at him, resolved to play into his fantasy.
âWhat if it doesn't take?â you asked softly, a slight pout on your lips. Minho reached his hand up, turning your head more so he could kiss you, pressing kisses to your lips quickly. âIf it doesn't take,â he muttered in between kisses.
âThen we try again. After all, I'm still hard and have a lot more cum to give you,â he added with a smirk. âWanna go again?â you asked, clenching around his cock. âJust to be sure it takes?â
Minho chuckled, pressing a kiss to your cheek as he slowly pulled back, the swelling at the base of his cock having gone down. He gave you a tentative thrust, ignoring the gush of purplish liquid that spilled out of you and ran down your thighs.
It didn't matter if some spilled out, not when he was about to fill you again and again and again. Even if it wouldnât take, he could dream, right? After all, he figured out halfway through the first session that what you'd come into contact with was an aphrodisiac and he knew it would be a few more hours before it finally wore off.
Heâd better make the most of it.

Digimon Adventure Tri: why it's more than you think
Originally posted on Reddit.
I believe Digimon Adventure Tri deserves a more careful, emotionally attuned rereading. I'm not here to claim absolute truth. I just want to share what I understood and felt, hoping this might encourage viewers to see the work through a different lens, especially if they're open to reevaluating it.
Tri isn't broken, it's fractured on purpose
Tri is not a classic sequel. It doesn't try to replicate the adventure spirit of the original series. Instead, it dares to explore a more introspective and emotional space. I've read some people saying that there are many subplots. But if you pay attention, everything that seems scattered is actually tied together by one common thread: the dissonance between who they once were, and who they begin to be when life stops giving easy answers.
I understand that not everyone wants to see their childhood characters grow up. That's valid. Sometimes we'd rather keep them frozen in time, running across the digiworld without ever facing heartbreak or existential crisis.
But Tri proposes something different.
It doesn't ask us to return to who we were, it asks us to acknowledge that we've changed. It shows that heroes can hesitate, that bonds can shift, and that searching for meaning is part of the fight too.
I find it moving that these characters have grown, that they're still evolving, each in their own way. That gives me hope. Because evolving doesn't always look like a flashy transformation. Sometimes it looks like staying, questioning, choosing not to run.
And if this stage doesn't resonate with you, that's okay too. Maybe it wasn't your moment. Or maybe your connection to Adventure lives on a different plane.
The beauty is that nothing takes away what came before or what comes after. It just gains new layers over time.
An emotional, not conventional structure
Tri doesn't talk about an external enemy. It speaks of an internal fracture.
From the very beginning, it tells us:
âDemiurge, the soulless creator... Idea, the true form of the world...â
This isn't just poetic dressing, it's the story's thesis. The Digital World was created as a system, but one that never truly understood the beings it would hold. The infection corrupting digimon isn't just a virus. It's a metaphor, a crack in the digital soul.
Tri doesn't follow the traditional "adventure-enemy-digivolution" formula. Its core conflict often comes in silences, glances, inner contradictions.
What hurts isn't always what happens. Sometimes it's the feelings too complex to name.
Taichi hasn't lost his courage, he's transformed it into responsibility.
Yamato isn't angry for drama's sake, he's frustrated because he doesn't know how to reach Taichi anymore.
Sora doesn't fade, she's depleted from holding everyone together while forgetting how to hold herself.
Joe isn't a coward, he's the first to confront doubt.
Mimi isn't shallow, she's defending her authenticity in a world that tries to mute it.
Koushiro isn't just the genius, he's a child who made logic his shield to avoid emotional collapse.
Takeru isn't just the optimist, his quiet strength is how he doesn't get pulled under by others' pain.
Hikari isn't just light, she's a channel. Her sensitivity connects her to the invisible, but it also makes her deeply vulnerable.
Meiko isn't a mistake, she's the weight of quiet guilt and undeserved blame.
Himekawa isn't a villain, she's a warning, consumed by a love that couldn't let go.
Nishijima isn't a mentor, he's a man who regrets arriving too late.
A symbolic reading of the Digital World
Tri challenges the Digital World's mythology. It introduces concepts like the Demiurge (imperfect creator) and Idea (true essence), pulling from gnostic and platonic philosophy. The infection is not just a digital bug. It's the result of a world built without understanding the emotions that would one day inhabit it.
Distortions in space, corrupted binary code (like the unexplained "2" in a system built on 0 and 1), the merging of realities, and the appearance of soulless replicas like Imperialdramon, none of it is random. It all speaks to a world collapsing from within, not due to external battles.
A quiet story of transformation
At the beginning of this story, Taichi wants to bring everyone back together, but time has passed. They've taken different paths, changed in ways that aren't always compatible. It's not about caring less. It's about learning that closeness sometimes fades without meaning to, and that trying to reclaim it isn't always simple.
A common criticism is that Taichi now hesitates and that this is regression.
Taichi's hesitation isn't fear, it's awareness. A pause. A question:Â can I still protect, without hurting anyone?
This isn't a contradiction, it's a continuation.
Letâs go back to Adventure:
Episode 16: SkullGreymon emerges from his recklessness
Episode 45: his leadership fractures the group
Episode 48: we see him doubt and we learn the origin of his guilt, blaming himself for Hikari's near death as a child.
02 never explored that aftermath. The story shifted focus to a new cast. But Tri picks up that thread and now Taichi isn't afraid of danger, he's afraid of causing harm. Thatâs not cowardice, it's growth.
And in that pause, we glimpse the roots of the future Taichi, who will one day become a diplomat, working for coexistence between humans and digimon.
Yamato doesn't understand the change, and he pushes, hoping to ignite the old spark. But underneath the anger is the fear of losing a connection that once felt unbreakable.
Meanwhile, the Digital World is fracturing.
Not from outside danger, but from the blurring lines between emotion and system, past and present, role and identity.
Soulless Systems
These aren't classic "villains":
Yggdrasill is not an evil mastermind or alien invader. It's a symbolic, near-divine system that governs without empathy. Cold, logical, and utterly disconnected. It never appears because it doesn't need to. Its will is carried out through proxies like Alphamon, corrupted Gennai, and even manipulated humans. Yggdrasill represents the idea of a creator that has lost touch with its creation, a divine absence rather than a presence.
Alphamon is not an enemy. He's an executor without voice or motive. He doesn't speak, doesn't hate, doesn't choose. He deletes threats because that is his function. He is kind of a ghost in armor, a weapon with no soul, following the will of a broken god.
Homeostasis is not the "good side". It's a system that seeks balance. A bodiless, emotionless protocol whose only priority is to restore order when chaos threatens to collapse the Digital World. It doesn't act out of empathy or cruelty, it simply follows its function. It doesn't shift because it changes its mind, but because its compass is not moral, it's systemic. It speaks through vessels (like Hikari) and intervenes not with force, but by rebooting whatâs broken to restore balance.
Hackmon / Jesmon is not a friend or foe. He is the system's messenger. He watches from the shadows, especially focused on Meicoomon, whom he perceives as a destabilizing anomaly. But Hackmon doesn't act on feeling. He is the voice of Homeostasis. Its blade. And when observation is no longer enough, he digivolves into Jesmon. But Jesmon is not hope, is protocol. A final measure. He doesn't come to save, he comes to execute.
When the system doesn't grasp the soul
In a world where connections become unpredictable, systems try to fix what they don't understand.
But emotions can't be repaired or deleted with code.
It's there, amidst reboots and algorithms, that the chosen children must decide whether to obey or to choose.
Meicoomon, a rift in the soul
Meicoomon isn't just an infected digimon, she contains Libra, which can't be controlled or regulated.. Her bond with Meiko is the most fragile, yet it's also honest.
Meiko, a chosen child who struggles to understand and bear her role, still chooses to stay. She remains, even when she feels she's the source of the pain, and even when her presence brings discomfort to others.
Libra, the code sealed in the soul
Libra is more than just a virus or a system error. It's an anomaly within the code, a burden sealed within Meicoomon from her origin. Imagine it as a living archive, holding the emotional record of the Digital World before its reboot: light and shadow, order and chaos.
To safeguard this data, it was encrypted inside her, unbeknownst to her and beyond her capacity to handle.
But Meicoomon was not created to carry such a burden. Her sensitivity and natural instability made her vulnerable to that information. It overwhelmed her, turning her into a contradiction of innocence and chaos.
Libra is not her fault. It's the Digital World's doing for putting such a heavy burden on a digimon who simply deserved to exist.
The Reboot: resetting isn't healing
The reboot wasn't a mere narrative whim or an attempt to "fix" the Digital World. It was an emergency measure. The infection had destabilized the system so severely that Homeostasis executed its last resort to restore balance: a complete reset.
This reboot came with an incredibly high cost: the loss of memories, of everything shared between the chosen children and their partners.
It wasn't an act of malice, but one of coldness. A systemic protocol that simply doesn't account for emotions. For Homeostasis, a bond is just another variable in the equation of balance.
Some criticize the reboot for "failing" because Meicoomon remained infected. But that's precisely the point: Libra wasn't a superficial error. It was a deep rift, inscribed in her soul. It wasn't just digital, it was existential. And that can't be erased with a reset. Systems can be rebooted, but the soul cannot.
Yet, even though the reboot failed in its ultimate goal, the most valuable outcome was this: even without memories, without data, without prior programming... the bonds found their way back. Because some connections don't depend on memory. Some encounters transcend code. When the soul recognizes another, it doesn't need reasons. It simply responds.
Tri shows us that some connections can't be explained, they can only be felt. These are the bonds that endure, even through forgetfulness and loss.
And it's within this very mystery, something that completely eludes rigid systems, that the emotional and the intangible begin.
The "canon" isn't broken, the story has layers
The absence of the 02 kids has been one of the most persistent criticisms of Tri. However, from the first episode, their disappearance is presented as a deliberate choice, not an oversight. It's not a case of forgetting or erasing them. It was about narrowing the focus. Also, a narrative void designed to generate uncertainty, and that uncertainty is a key part of the emotional tone the story aims to convey.
Alphamon defeats them off-screen, and while this bothers their fans, it also emphasizes a crucial point: this isn't their story. It's the story of the original chosen children. Of those who are drifting apart and question if they are still the same people. Himekawa deceives them, telling them everything is fine, much like the system watches them silently. This manipulation also reflects an uncomfortable truth: sometimes, we grow up believing everything remains as it was, until it no longer does.
And when Imperialdramon appears in Episode 8 âDetermination - Part 4â, it does so as a shadow. Not as the return of a beloved digimon, but as an anomaly. Daisuke and Ken aren't there. There's no digivice, no connection. It's a silent replica that attacks as if the Digital World were projecting a broken memory.
Could the pain of their absence have been explored more deeply? Maybe. But Tri chooses to focus its lens. It doesn't erase or contradict, it simply pauses at a different stage: the stage of those who are present. Those who, without intending to, also somewhat disappeared from themselves.
Perhaps Tri wasn't created to please. Perhaps it was created to make us feel.
Not all errors are failures
Tri isn't perfect. There are narrative moments that could have been more polished, and even the technical aspects of the art could have been refined. Yet, as a whole, it's a work that takes risks and proposes new ideas. It shifts the focus from "what happens" to "what we feel".
And for a series built on emotion and evolution, that might be one of the most natural next steps it could take.
What Tri tells us (if we dare to listen)
Tri shows us that growing up isn't just about leaving things behind, it's about relearning who you are when everything changes.
It shows us that sometimes, bonds break without anyone being at fault.
It reminds us that you can't always save another person, but you can stay, watch, feel, and simply be there.
And above all, Tri makes us realize a powerful truth: that bonds, even if they fade, change, or cause pain, are still what makes life truly meaningful. Because to feel, to doubt, to make mistakes, and to try again with another, that is truly to evolve, and it's absolutely worth it.
Recommendations for a better viewing experience
Divide it into chapters. I know Tri was originally released as OVAs, but you might find it on platforms like Crunchyroll, which divides it into episodes. This makes it easier to digest its emotional pacing.
Watch at least these prequels beforehand:Â Digimon Adventure, Our War Game and Digimon Adventure 02. Not because they're strictly mandatory, but because I think Tri is in direct conversation with the memories and events of those stories.
Choose the original japanese audio with subtitles. The dubs (especially in english and spanish) often contain significant errors that distort the emotional message. The original japanese voice acting is also rich with subtle nuances.
Avoid external noise. Don't let soulless criticisms or external expectations contaminate your experience. Watch Tri with a clear mind and open heart. Let the story unfold and speak to you, at your own pace, in your own way.
If it helps, approach it as a side story. Think of Tri less as a continuation and more as an exploration of this particular stage in the original Adventure kids' lives.
And if Tri wasn't for you, that's perfectly fine. Don't worry. It doesn't ruin anything, and it doesn't change anything. You can simply choose to omit its existence, or you can enjoy the layers it adds as it leads us toward the epilogue of Adventure 02.
Thanks for reading. If Tri also stirred something within you, offered you comfort, or left you with questions... it's truly wonderful to inhabit that space with you.

Ë â©Â°Ë âïž world.execute (us) ; / caleb x reader

â and of the wing which EVER had taken from X-02, they made X-01 and brought her to X-02.
weapons. it is all that they were.
disposable machinery, circuits, and welded metals deemed unable to exercise primary human functions â possessing a conscience, feeling, and refusing orders.
world.addThing (caleb) ;
X-02 was the first successful weapon after a series of experiments. dubbed 'caleb' by the researchers, he wielded the power of gravity and was the strongest of their arsenal â mechanical wings giving him the appearance of an angel, flawless robotic being, harbinger of an unspoken world ending.
world.addThing (you) ;
from his steel feathers and wires, they made X-01 â caleb's eve. on her own, she was but a standard infantry soldier, if only more resistant to damage and irreplaceable in her resilient quality. however, when coupled with caleb, they made for the ultimate weapon of mass destruction.
an ever growing black hole contained within pandora's box, one which she held the key to â a limitation imposed onto caleb's infinity.

}
when unsupervised by researchers, X-02's standard protocol was a simple one â destroy X-01.
world.execute(you) ;
however, within the lines of codes, caleb's processor encountered a critical error upon attempting to execute the function. similar to how eve was made from adam's rib, X-01 was made from caleb's wing â thus, the function was rendered useless, as it translated to self-destruction,
world.execute(caleb) ;
further down the lines of 1s and 0s, though, an even more critical error manifested itself â within both weapons' codes. they were capable of feeling.
a desire for the other's warmth.
a foreign concept within their program.
in the midst of their self-imposed fall from grace, one brought on by their own faulty parameters, they reach for each other's hands.
caleb's hand clasping X-01's, bringing her to his chest, going against every established program within his system. in his processor, only one command rings loudly â a corrupted line of code? or a virus, maybe? unable to be purged by his safety protocols, caleb's newly found virtual conscience displays only one function to execute.
world.unite(you, caleb) ;
and like the machine he was programmed to be, he abides by this newly established function â one catalyzed by your very being in his vicinity.
joining your lips together, he finds comfort in the unnatural warmth emanating from your composition.
â ILOVEYOU

in life, in binary or in one's warmth,
and in death, in circuits shutting off or stopped heartbeats,
even if it all fades away â your souls will resonate with one another's.

â so EVER banished them from the garden of eden and sent caleb out to destroy the fabric of the universe from which he had been made â his eve by his side to fall with him.

The "Luffy's fruit is a Zoan" reveal/retcon was extremely controversial when 1044 was first released; do you think Oda did a good job foreshadowing it?
yes!! it addresses a lot of idle questions i had about luffy's powers for quite some time (while also raising a ton more, of course, but that's the nature of one piece).
(all of my thoughts here and on gear 5 in general owe some credit to @grainjew, who has been my main discussion partner on this topic)
luffy's fruit has always been, from what we've seen, kind of weird for a paramecia? obviously since the categorization of 'paramecia' is sort of a grab bag and a lot less well-defined than logias or zoans, that's kind of a hard claim to make, but generally speaking, most of the paramecia users we see throughout the series do not have their powers always on. (the strongest counter-example i could think of to this trend is brook, and even that is one i think you can argue.) luffy's power is way more passive, in the sense that he doesn't have to activate it- it's just there, always. even seastone and seawater do not make luffy not rubber, they just sap his energy and stop him from stretching himself, as we see as early as arlong park.
that is weird! what we see of most other paramecias is that they have to use their powers intentionally, even when those powers do involve transforming their body in some way, like with mr. 1 or alvida. there's a whole plot in dressrosa about knocking a specific paramecia user unconscious so she'll lose her grip on her power and it'll disappear. luffy will stretch when he is asleep, when he is underwater, and without knowing he's doing it. he's always rubber.
so luffy is weird for a paramecia, though not completely unprecedented. his power has always seemed to me to be... almost logia adjacent, in the sense that he's made from a specific material and all his powers are based on being that material, but that doesn't quite track either. aside from the fact that the thing he's composed of is tangible and, again, he can't turn it off, he clearly has access to a greater level of complexity in his transformations than logias do (whose devil fruit powers seem to be basically a binary system).
which actually leads me to compare him to chopper, who is the zoan we know the best, and who, conveniently, also ate a version of the hito hito no mi.
i think the way luffy and chopper interact with their powers is actually very similar. much like luffy, chopper was fundamentally altered by his consumption of a devil fruit in a way he cannot return from. he can still look like a normal reindeer, but he can never actually be one, because the most important trait his devil fruit gave him was human sentience. and he would still have that if you put him in seastone, he just wouldn't be able to transform. similarly, luffy had his body fundamentally altered by his fruit in a manner he does not seem to be capable of even temporarily reversing. he can't make himself not rubber any more than chopper can return himself to being a normal reindeer.
like chopper, luffy's power progression has been based around finding new ways to transform his body and force it into new and more powerful forms. his gears are roughly comparable to chopper's points. that is zoan stuff! chopper is the main other person we see interact with his fruit in that specific way. so, yeah, i actually do think it does make sense for luffy's power to have actually always been a zoan. at the very least, it makes more sense than him being a paramecia, to me.
however, having said that, i also don't think it's as straightforward as luffy just being a zoan instead of a paramecia. we see that the awakening of his fruit definitely has both paramecia and zoan qualities, since he's transforming both himself and the environment around him, as well as other people. (the wiki puts this down to him being a mythical zoan but i just don't think that's true. kaidou is also a mythical zoan and he is completely baffled by what he's seeing.)
i made a bunch of jokes in discord about luffy being devil fruit nonbinary while i was reading this chapter- there's three genders and you have to pick one, and you can't just go switching it up, etc- and i do think that what luffy's fruit indicates is that the sorting system of devil fruits itself is imperfect. outliers do exist that don't fit cleanly between the lines- which we already knew! just look at katakuri.
#i have a lot more thoughts on the thematic resonance and plot significance of g5#which i WILL get to also. but thats outside the scope of this ask#jonny answers#one piece#not japanese#luffy#gear 5#opmeta#character meta

Hey yall im not dead!
COSMIX!!! I've officially redesigned all the transformations in the Winx Club TV series hell yeah
Lore and Design notes below
So Cosmix is a rather defunct transformation in the modern era. It used to be used heavily in the age of space exploration but since teleportation and hyper speed ships became common place, the Magix dimension prefers to use those. Essentially, in order to set up a teleportation center, the caster/s need to have been to both the origin point and the target point. Witches and Mages were the primary people responsible for setting up the teleportation system, but in order to achieve the spells requirements, they would require help from a Cosmix fairy. The primary function of Cosmix is the ability to fly through space with out detrimental effects. Cosmix fairies can take 1, maybe 2, people with them while they fly in a shooting star esc trail function. Cosmix is not great for fighting unless the foe is darkness/light based. Defense is strong against cold, pressure, and friction, but not most other kinds of damage.
Cosmix is also theorized to be the Magix Dimension's version of the elementix. So like Sirenix is the transformation that grants access to the Infinite ocean, Cosmix is the one that would grant access to the Magix Dimension if fairies were in the other realms. Because humans already belong to the Magix Dimension, and the transformation isn't required to earn Nymphix, it isn't considered a true Elementix. Some fairies (mostly Solarians) do experience biological changes when using the transformation, seen here in Stella, but it's not super common. The hair takes on the magic color and drifts into nebulous star dust and galaxy clusters. Solarians are located closest to Lumenia, a tightly clustered star formation, and frequent attract Lumens due to Solaria's binary star system. They have formed fast friendships with the Lumens and many Solarians carry a Lumen's Blessing (it's similar to the elemental companions' bonds in the elementix) in their bloodline which contributes to the biological changes when using Cosmix.
I'm still hammering out how seaosn 8 works plot wise but I'll add it to my show changes masterlist eventually.
Design! The initial concept was "man i wanna draw some chunky ass boots" and i kinda ran with the cyber punk look from there. I was also adamant that Cosmix is a pants transformation, both out of practicality and spite because they made everyone so hyper feminine in season 8. I referenced the actual cosmix designs and their "space travel" oufits for the general shapes for these, but obviously there aren't a ton of similarities since I went in such a different direction haha. Also my first time drawing Aisha with twists! I almost gave her a fro cus it would mimic an astronaut's helmet (and lowkey a nod to Garnet from steven universe) but i like how the twists came out haha
Cosmix includes! Hair up and out of the way, a mesh base layer with light veins and stars, a body suit or shorts and top, a padded armor torso piece with some tubing ports, so many buckles and straps, a clear plastic portion(usually part of the torso peice, sleeves, or around the waist/hips), wrist/arm guards, and chunky chunky boots. The wings are also larger than most transformations (rivaling Butterflix/Faunix) and trail more of the fairy's magic color than usual. Simple geometric designs are standard.

Capricorn post? *Sniffs your art like a dog*
The characters name is Capricornus! Because that's the name of the constellation. And like mentioned before (I know it's getting annoying hearing it from me all the time haha) but these are based on the constellations :) (I called him Capricorn at first too, oops)
He's the 10th prince, so one of the younger ones (even though they're all thousands of years old, mentally he's young adult). He's a bit of a party boy! But great at planning them too
Miss Sun was mentioned before in these posts, but she used to be the princes' nanny and now still takes care of them during their reign. And she is often concerned when Capricornus is out partying again.
Capricornus Alpha Star doesn't really have a proper name? It's official name is Alpha Capricorni. It's also two stars but we see it as one (some other stars are binary systems, who are also two stars but appear as one, but then a big star has a smaller star orbiting it. Alpha Capricorni is an optical double. The stars do not orbit one another, just from our angle it looks like one). So I will design that one too at one point. Alpha Cap had some names: Algedi, Algiedi, Al Giedi or Giedi. Since Deneb Algedi already is called Algedi I thought I would call the character Giedi. He has horns in the very quick sketch but I'm not sure anymore if I want stars to have horns as well. So a redesign is in order soon!
Ophiuchus is the mc of the game concept and Capricornus (who was the very first Zodiac Prince I drew btw) is her friend. Ophiuchus was designed as a joke when I first started this design series, as an answer to the question if I would make zodiac princesses and the 13th sign. I did some sketches for a different design so maybe she gets that one as well. Capricornus is a smooth talker, a pretty boy, so Ophiuchus likes him.
Capricornus has a split tail, because it's a goat with a fish tail get it? Other fish like constellations have it as well (not all of them though).
Here's more art of him! He used to have stones on his horns, but I removed them because it was too much. He's the hardest Prince to draw in my opinion, I struggle the most with him for some reason

Assassins With a Smile: Veilguardâs Crows and the Neoliberal Fantasy of Elite Violence
In Dragon Age: Veilguard, one of the most ideologically revealing choices is the elevation of the Crowsâa privately-funded, aristocrat-aligned assassination mafiaâas the âreasonable,â âpragmatic,â and even morally preferable faction.
From a materialist or leftist perspective, this is completely absurd.
From a neoliberal âonly the competent elite matterâ perspective?
Itâs textbook.
Fantasy Mafia, Market-Approved
Historically, the Crows have been portrayed as a dangerous and murky force in Dragon Age lore: tied to political assassination, noble power games, and mercenary corruption. In Veilguard, however, theyâre recast as Antivaâs best hope for order. Not justiceâorder. The message is clear: yes, theyâre a velvet-gloved knife-wielding death cult, but theyâre our velvet-gloved knife-wielding death cult.
The game positions them against Ivenci, a civil reformer who wants to build a real justice system not beholden to mercenaries. But Ivenci is ridiculedâportrayed as fumbling, overly idealistic, out of their depth. Despite the fact that their proposalâbuilding a civic institution not held hostage by mafia violenceâis objectively more just and more sustainable.
This is narrative rigging. It's a rigged ideological binary:
Community violence in sexy coats vs. goofy bureaucratic reformer.
A Fantasy of Grassroots Violence (for the Elite)
And then comes the final blow: Ivenci, who once stood for structural reform, ultimately sides with the Antaamâthe gameâs imperialist invading force. Itâs a real betrayal, framed not as a tragic misstep, but as confirmation that civic reformers are untrustworthy power-seekers.
Instead of showing how power corrupts across factions, the game uses Ivenciâs fall as an ideological shortcut to erase the entire premise of state-building or institutional justice. They're imprisoned, discredited, and narratively discardedâclearing the path for the Crows to emerge as the âpragmaticâ default.
This isn't complexity. It's a sleight of hand. It says:
â âThe only people you can trust with power are the ones who already have it.â
â âDonât build justiceâoutsource it to the velvet-gloved aristocrats.â
Itâs an Ayn Rand worldview, dressed in Bioware romance dialogue.
Neoliberal Logic in a Dagger Sheath
The rehabilitation of the Crows follows the classic neoliberal pattern:
Institutions are weak.
The people are disorganized.
Reformers are foolish or corruptible.
Power belongs to those who wield it efficientlyâand attractively.
The Crows arenât grassroots. Theyâre aristocracy with better lighting.
Calling them âwhatâs best for Antivaâ is like calling a hedge fund good for your local school district.
And yet, Veilguard sells them with a straight face.
Assassins, Rebranded as Community Leaders
The game doesnât critique the Crowsâit markets them.
Weâre not invited to question their structure, history, or legitimacy. Weâre invited to romance them. Align with them. Accept their violence as ânecessary.â Itâs a fantasy of privatized justice, sold as stabilityâand one where the public never gets a seat at the table.
In a series that once explored mage rebellions, chantry corruption, and religious revolution, Veilguard trades in its radical edge for something safer:
Sexy murderers who keep the wheels turning.
Final Thought:
If the âreasonable, groundedâ option is a fumbling, noble-funded assassination guild that keeps dropping the ballâand your game still treats them like the good guys...
...Youâre not telling a story about justice.
Youâre telling a story about why the powerful deserve to stay in power, no matter how many times they fail.
#veilguard critical#dragon age the veilguard#bioware critical#da:tv critical#veilguard spoilers#dragon age critical#a lot of thoughts on veilguard#da: the veilguard#veilguard is neoliberalist accidentally#im not saying the writers are bad people#they just didn't think enough#this is kind of a quickie so plz let me know if I missed or misunderstood something#Did you notice that only the elite like Lucanis get second#third#fourth chances.

I just think Ray needs a surprise holiday!
You had it all planned out.
Every meticulous step had been perfectly arranged. Every task on the board carefully categorized, broken down into a series of simple goals that you had ticked off one by one. You were on schedule, on time, on a fucking roll. And you were not going to let anyone stand in your way. No matter the cost, even to your pride, you were going to see this through.
âStarâŠâ Ray blinked down at you, dark eyes half-lidded with exhaustion and that ever-present fondness that never failed to make your knees grow weaker. The hand rubbing the back of his neck lowered to curl over your cheek, almost petting you as though you were a misbehaving cat. âWhat are you hiding from me?â
âNothing!â You replied reflexively, and then cringed when one eyebrow went up. Too quick. Usually you were a better liar, but this was Ray. Your boyfriend of several months, and the love of your life for almost as much time. You didnât exactly want to lie to him, but this was meant to be a surprise! Did anyone know how difficult it was to plan a surprise for a mind-reader?! The meditation, the distractions, the waiting until he was out patrolling before jumping online to do research, finish up preparations, and then hurriedly delete the browsing history on your laptop?
It would all be worth it though, you thought determinedly as you marshaled your willpower and stubbornly stared up at Ray. There was no way you were going to trip up this close to the finish line. By tomorrow morning everything would be finalized.
âTomorrow morning?â Ray echoed lightly, and you immediately froze in place. Shit, he was catching on. Fine, fine, you could salvage this. As long as he didnât look into your roomâ âYour thoughts are very loud, Star.â
âIâm panicking!â You retorted, again too loud and too quick. He snickered at your flustered state while you rushed to regain control. âUm. I mean. Thereâs nothing in my room, I donât know what youâre talking about!â
Ray snorted, a laugh escaping him at your obvious attempts. His tall frame cast a shadow over you as he stepped closer, herding you backwards until your spine touched the door of your room. When he spoke again, his voice was laced with something approaching genuine curiosity and anticipation.
âCome on, what's the big surprise you've been hiding from me?" He asked, tilting his head to the side. His eyes pinned you in place. Â
"Now, now, Ray. Patience is a virtue, you know," you couldnât stop yourself from teasing. When he stepped forward again, you placed a hand on his chest to prevent him from advancing further. "Besides, thatâs the fun in spoiling the surprise too soon? Youâve waited this long, right?"
âI didnât know I was waiting before,â Ray grumbled, and then a playful smirk curved his lips. âBesides, I know exactly where the fun is," he quipped, leaning in closer until his breath ghosted over your ear. "Why donât you let me show you?"
Goosebumps formed across your skin as molten heat flowed through your body, down your spine and to the very tips of your toes. You shuddered at his proximity, your own eyes growing half-lidded as your iron resolve weakened under his tantalizing words. In or out of the blue and yellow costume, Ray was impossibly magnetic. There was no way you could deny the effect he had on you. Once he had compared you both to a binary star system, two objects in space intertwined in a cosmic dance. Destined to either be destroyed or separated for eternity.
You thought that was a rather pessimistic outlook. Maybe you wouldnât always work things out. Maybe you would argue. Maybe the causes would be internal â your own insecurities and worries, Rayâs trauma, his misanthropy, and over-protectiveness. Maybe they would be external â the NAHA, Double Vision, and other villains. To you though, what mattered was that you wanted to work things out with Ray. He made you happy, and you made him happy, and goddammit you were going to commit to that!
You couldn't let him win this time, not when you had gone through so much effort to orchestrate the perfect surprise. It was time for Evasive Manoeuvres(TM).
Ray, lips already at your throat, immediately paused. He drew back, a deep furrow creasing the skin between his brows. âWhat the hell is that?â
âI donât know what youâre talking about,â you responded innocently, as the dulcet tones of Jay Park cooing about fat asses transformed into the less dulcet tones of Lil Jon and The East Side Boys. You continued speaking slowly as the lyrics 3-6-9 DAMN SHE FINE, IâM HOPING SHE CAN SOCK IT TO ME ONE MORE TIME played on loop at the forefront of your mind. âI just think my lovely boyfriend should be a bit more patient instead of trying to ruin the surprise I worked very hard on.â
The look he shot you promised swift and punishing retribution, but you stood your ground. You both knew that if Ray really wanted to spoil the game, he had a million ways to do so, up to and including simply picking you up like the aforementioned misbehaving cat.
Kind of like right now. You let out a surprised squeak as Ray tossed you over one shoulder and headed for his bedroom. âNice try, Star,â he remarked with a low chuckle that you felt acutely between your legs. "But you can't hide your thoughts from me forever. I plan to get it out of you tonight, one way or the other."
Approximately 18 hours later you glared at Ray from the front lobby of the beach resort as the desk worker happily announced that your room had been upgraded to a deluxe suite overlooking the beach. Charitably, he has chosen not to make fun of you, but you still stewed in your emotions as he carried both of your suitcases all the way to the elevator, through the connecting hallways, and into the massive bedroom. You wouldnât have been able to manage anyway. Your thighs were still so sore that youâd almost missed the flight entirely.
You barely waited for the door to close before you couldnât hold it anymore. âHow did you know?!â
Ray blinked at you bemusedly, and then purposefully lifted a finger to point at himself. âTelepath.â
The pillow you lobbed at him came to a halt in front of his face and remained hovering in place before floating neatly back to the bed. The look he gave you could only be described as shit eating.
âYou fucking â ARGH!â You covered your face with another pillow to muffle the mortified screeching. âI really thought I had you! How long have you known?â
âWhat?!â That had been ages ago, long before Iâd even started looking up holiday destinations! âIâll have you know that meditation is a perfectly normal activity! Why would that be suspicious?!â
Ray hummed thoughtfully, putting a hand to his chin while tipping his head back to stare up at the gorgeously paneled ceiling. âFor a few weeks. Around the time you started practicing meditation. It was very suspicious.â
A scoff. âStar, you hate sitting still and not moving. You canât even watch Netflix without either knitting or playing games on your phone, and Iâm supposed to believe you just decided to start the one activity thatâs about being calm?â
âBastard,â you pouted, pulling away when he tried to corral you into his arms for an apologetic hug. âYouâre so mean to me. Mean boyfriends donât get kisses when they ruin surprises from their loving partners!â
âThen maybe little brats shouldnât try to hide things from their superpowered boyfriends,â Ray snarked back, pinching the sides of your face with one hand and holding you still. The smile on his face was impossibly fond and filled with a heat unmatched by the blazing equatorial sun outside. âStill. This is the nicest thing anyoneâs ever done for me. Thank you, StarâŠâ he murmured, leaning closer.
Just before your lips touched however, a familiar tune chimed from his phone. The resulting wince was Pavlovian, and you scowled across the room at the phone buried somewhere in Rayâs bag.
He twitched towards it, years of conditioning prompting his body even as it revulsed him, but you were faster. You grabbed Ray by the face and turned his head back towards you.
âI heard thereâs a buffet downstairs,â you said. âItâs all you can eat seafood, and there's dessert!â
He blinked at you, attention split for a split second before focusing completely on your face. âIs food all you ever think about?â He chuckled, allowing you to tug him towards the door and out the room. âI should have lured you with free meals.â
âI donât know,â you hummed playfully, shutting the door firmly on the NAHA and their bullshit. âI think you caught me just fine.â
