Hi! I've been searching for a Steve-centric fic for awhile now with zero luck. It's either Gen or slow-build Stony, set in a dystopian world where people are programmed and hooked up to machines and have a port in the back of their neck. Steve is bought by Tony, no memory of who he is, and eventually they head a revolution against the powers that be who support this slave/subordinate/designation society. It ends with Steve being hooked back up and forgetting everything! :( Ring any bells?

This is the closest fic I could find that I came across, though I'm not sure it's the one you're looking for.

Last wednesday I went to the Wednesday Demonstration on the memorial day for "comfort women", 14th of August. "Comfort women" were young girls and women who were decieved and later forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military in so-called "comfort stations" during the Asian-Pacific War (WW2). These women were from all kinds of countries, but mostly from Korea, which was a collony of Japan at the time. Most victims didn't survive the end of the war. It is important to not forget this history, as the Japanese government has still not properly apologized to the women, nor given reparations! This plastic puppet is a replica of the original peace statue sitting in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul. No Strings Attached

I used to serve on an advisory board for an international foundation that supported non governmental organizations helping victims of human trafficking and sex slavery in Southeast Asia. We targeted organizations that aimed to “rescue, restore and reintegrate” victims into society, and many were doing a wonderful job with treatment as well as prevention. However, it would really frustrate me when some faith based non for profits would attach strings to their charity. Meaning, they would only give these young women food and shelter IF they would attend religious services, Bible studies, and accept Jesus as their Lord & Savior. It would honestly infuriate me to think that someone who has been a victim of the worst kinds of abuse would then be required to conform to another’s belief system before he or she could receive shelter, food, and clothing. 

One example was a young girl less than 17 years old in Thailand. She was sold into sexual slavery by her parents, most likely to make ends meet so they could feed their other children. She had been diagnosed with HIV, and was (understandably) feeling resentment over the awful hand she had been dealt. Her refusal to participate in Bible studies resulted in her rapid return to the streets.    

The Jesus I know would not have refused help to anyone just because they didn’t believe in Him. Needless to say, that organization did NOT receive my recommendation for funding.

As a follow-up to the photos I posted from the protest in front of the Japanese embassy in D.C. yesterday, I encourage you to donate to the Butterfly Fund. These survivors of Japanese Military Sexual Slavery are not only advocating for their own reparations (an extremely worthy cause in itself!)--they are also raising funds for other women around the world who have suffered sexual violence as a result of armed conflict. 

I maintain that this organization led by these inspiring women who have been through so much pain is truly an example of intersectional feminism at its best. Please read the articles I’ve posted below and check out their website.
