✩ WEEKLY FIC ROUND-UP ✩
All the fics I’ve read and really enjoyed in the past week-ish. Reminder: This list features any and all ratings and themes.
ATLA
Boomerangs and Rainbows by Mindbending (+ podfic)
At Sokka’s behest, the Gaang skips rescuing Zuko during the Siege at the North Pole. Instead they leave him, unconscious, buried in the snow.
In completely unrelated news, Sokka’s haunted by a ghost now.
For Hearth And Home by Haicrescendo
[There’s a child underneath Fire Lord Zuko’s desk.
He doesn’t realize this until he sits down and tiny hands wrap themselves around his ankles, and Fire Lord Zuko definitely does not shriek and backpedal away at the unexpected touch.
He definitely does do that but Gou, the single guard he’s agreed to let shadow him, is kind enough not to mention it.]
Or: In which Fire Lord Zuko is a total mess and somehow people manage to love him for it anyway.
DC
For All The Just Alike Birds by SilverSkiesAtMidnight
It starts the stupidest way anything has ever gone wrong in Tim’s life.
It starts when he falls asleep in the shower.
Stranger Things
should i keep it on display, or redecorate? by RejectsCanon
The first thing Steve removes from his room is the random framed photograph of a car.
Before Steve realizes what he’s doing, he’s snatched that photo off the wall. It comes off easily, the only thing holding it in place is a nail haphazardly hammered into the wall. Picture in hand, Steve doesn’t pause to think, letting his body take over as he rushes down the stairs.
Steve stalks downstairs, wrenches open the back door, and smashes that obnoxious picture to the ground.
Or, Steve hates his room. He decides to change that.
The Sandman
the past, the future, the doorway by Chrome, stardreamertwo
thedreaming_comm writes:
Welcome to thedreaming_comm, a space for fans of Morpheus Endless’s The Dreaming series!
(A year after going missing, fantasy author Morpheus Endless is found alive. The internet has a lot to say.)
only the register by Chrome
As much as Hob likes this job, will be sorry to lose it, he’s not sorry for the punch.
Worlds collide at the British Museum. Hob Gadling gives into old instincts. Paul McGuire has regrets.
Shadowhunters
What's in a Name by Carmenlire
The dichotomy of Alec is endlessly fascinating to Magnus. He knows-- was confronted once upon a time-- that Alec is surly and can be downright brutal, his temper running hot or icy depending on the situation. He can be rude and standoffish and frighteningly cold to whomever hasn’t earned his respect. He’s a consummate professional, a brilliant leader and tactician, but there’s no denying that his boyfriend can be a bit of a dick.
But he's also soft and soaks affection up like a sponge, physically demonstrative in a way that Magnus could never have predicted.
A typical day in the life of Alec Lightwood.
Tell me I'm perfect (but tell me the truth) by SquaresAreNotCircles
"Totally whipped,” Jace says, even as he slings an arm over Alec’s shoulders to keep him steady on the way outside.
“Like cream,” Alec sighs.
Or: 5 times Alec tells his siblings how amazing Magnus is + 1 time Magnus finds out.
The Shadiest Thing by starkraving
Magnus is High Warlock, yeah, but he’s just a little bit gangster sometimes. Alec tags along on an errand and gets a real look at warlock culture, what it takes to be High Warlock, and the details of a ‘warlock duel’. Magnus can’t believe the stupid shit people leave on his voicemail. Between Season 2 & 3.

The Villains of Shadowhunters. Part one.
...thoughts, opinions, reflections, and predictions of past, present, and future villains. I wanted to talk or post about the Shadowhunters’ villains, because heroes are not without villains. So, I dig within the books, myths, lores, and the show’s perspectives. WARNING: Major Books’ spoilers!!!!
I will be discussing about Valentine, Sebastian, Lilith, Lorenzo, and Asmodeus. And how Sebastian is linked to Magnus.
And I do not know what the show will do and how much of the books will make it to season 3...so, it kinda a big rants on the villains and the what ifs.
I do wanna hear from you guys too...on your views on the past, present, and future villains. There will be 2 parts.
Season 1 and 2
Valentine and Circle Members
Valentine and his Crew is introduced to the audience...like the book’s through the eyes of Clary. This is no hate. I read the books and I do like the books and yes, it does have it’s problems but I also think the show has it’s problems too. Nothing is made perfect...stay optimistic. However, it does follow a basic cliché of many young adults genre...a girl, young and naive...going through a transition period and suddenly collide into a new world and there she or he finds out how special she or he is...then add a cute misunderstood bad boy and a nerdy best friend...who is constantly friend zoned. Tales is old as time...to me, Valentine is that kind of villain. The Basic villain. Bear with me. He is there to connect the readers or audience to Clary...who is our eyes...but of course as the world unfolds...the readers and the audience does find their own characters.
Valentine is a purist. He likes it simple and basic. He likes or loves the old world. He does not like changes. He doesn’t want to destroy the world. He wants to protect it but to him...it’s black and white. Think, Lex Luther. Lex’s anti-Alien campaign and how he polluted and even convinced society to be fearful and hateful towards the “aliens” (aka...Superman). The scary thing about him is how relevant his philosophy is to our current society. The idea behind him is to keep his kind pure, which of course is ironic when he was injecting “demon” blood in himself and his kids. He is driven by rage, hate, and jealousy. If you look at it, he is technically upholding the laws. The old laws of the Clave. To him, Shadowhunters is pure and Downworlders are evil. The basics of good vs. evil. Do not forget, Shadowhunters did hunt and kill Downworlders. That’s it. There were no laws or rights. Yes, it makes me laugh how I read comments defending the Shadowhunters. Like, seriously? Downworlders do what they have to do to survive and protect. You know, the Shadowhunters will do the same thing. (What Iris did was fuck up, I am no defending that...the idea here is to see her reason why? Valentine was killing the Warlocks race and he kidnapped/used Madzie). To understand the heroes is to understand the villains.
Bottom line, Valentine is the villain, you see in the real world. That’s scary. He does deals with one of the darkness topic in our world...racism. Valentine’s perspectives are reflection of our society. Just turn on the news. He’s the guy, right winged conservative, against immigration,...etc. He’s basically the Third Reich. Hatred towards an entire group of people, experimented on the Downworlders,...and yes, this was all evil but for me...Valentine is just a start. The introduction. He’s a lot of talk, some walks, but he’s not strong enough. However, the things that he stands for...isn’t going away. Someone else will always take his place.
The real villain is...the hate.
Season 2
Sebastian
Sebastian...Is definitely more “Extra” than Valentine. He’s different than Valentine. Valentine is actually afraid of him. He is Valentine’s shame. The black sheep of the family. Sebastian like Valentine is also tied to Clary’s path. Oooh, the dysfunctional family.
Valentine...he is the villain by choice. He choose his path...while Sebastian was made. Sebastian is the tragic villain. He is the one who wants acceptance and love. Driven to be normal but unfortunately never understood the technicality of it and forgets one important thing...that being normal is overrated. He is the anger within. The child with the prolonged tantrum.
His identity, childhood, and life...all stolen from him. You and I, as the audience can understands and even sympathetic towards him (to a point, yes...the guy is evil). Remember, his whole life was taken and given to someone else (Jace). Serious identity crisis here. And while Clary and Jace was given a family, friends...and an identity. He was given to Edom. Where, he wasn’t wanted either...beside Lilith.
He isn’t Valentine. He is motivated by more personal matters and easily sum up as...vengeance and acceptance or lack of. In the books, he and many other elements and individuals of course...basically starts a war. I will say this...I do not give Sebastian, the credit for the war. Sorry. The war is much bigger than him. The thing is, the war began before Valentine or Sebastian. It has never truly ended. The audience doesn’t know that because you are following new eyes. However, Sebastian does play a critical part to the “new” war’s foundation.
So, in season 3. Sebastian isn’t done. He will be back and he will make them pay. He’s a child with a big tantrum. Here’s is the interesting thing...so desperately to be accepted by his father, mother, sister, and the Shadowhunters...always wearing a mask...pretending to be someone else...but to come to a sad conclusion that he is and will always be unwanted by his own. However, Lilith will give the audience another perspective.
Also, I do see Sebastian as Jace’s villain not Clary. Two adopted sons, life of mistaken identities, two different paths...a nature vs. nurture element.
In the first few episodes of season 3, my prediction is Sebastian will be healing. However, he will be alive and well in Jace’s head. I think, Jace coming back from the dead...opened a door. A dangerous pathway. There’s always consequences when you play with death. But it won’t be Sebastian who is messing with Jace’s head...it would be Lilith or one of her demons. Lilith is very angry. Her son is hurt and Jace is vulnerable enough to be the perfect target..the perfect start. They will tear Jace apart by tearing him away from people he loved the most...starting with Clary than the Lightwoods. Through this process, she will slowly creep into the group’s walls. Learn their names and their vulnerabilities. It is confirmed that the first few episodes will be heavily on relationships. Jace and Clary will be tested. And know, that it’s canonically that Sebastian still wants Clary (to be his queen, literally in the books...sorry...the incest does not end yet) and Lilith being the mother that she is...will give him...what he wants.

I think that when Alec and Izzy are in Jace's mind/soul/prison, he will make them promise him to kill him before Lilith can take the Owl again and perhaps they'll even be close to freeing him from his prison, BUT Lilith will attack Magnus's apartment to take her Owl and Magnus will let her take the Owl along with Jace because she is too strong and he couldn't fight her alone...that could explain the "Sorry, I couldn't stop her" quote that they've shared on social media!

are alec and magnus in the basement of the institute when this power surge/explosion goes off??
we know they end up there trying to contain it...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then there is this from the trailer. Looks like they weren successful?
Tumblr media
Would this be the scene that the writer was talking about? About Matt delivering this whole episode and one of her fav alec moment?
Tumblr media
Then there is this spoiler
Tumblr media
I just have a vision of Alec being a human shield for an already exhausted and almost collapsing magnus.
And maybe this follows that incident. The morning after, they are tired and sore and recovering
Tumblr media
and then Lorenzo comes being his asshat self
Tumblr media
Idk if I have this timeline of event rights but I love trying to piece these together into something possible. How do you think these all play out?
(Gifs not mine. Also this was longer than originally intended)

Game of thrones gives me hives
#like I don't think u understand how much I hate got#like I dislike shadowhunters#bud I don't want it to go off air or anything like it can stay on it's side and all stay on mine#but every year i gotta deal with fucking game of thrones#and I think half of it is because it's SO popular and I can't understand why or escape from its hell grasp#it's everywhere#and I don't understand why it's so popular#the first 3 seasons? pretty good I'll give them that#but now absolutely no plot line makes sense#the outfits and wigs are terrible cause they spend all their money on dragon characters#no character is relatable and none of them even have decent characterization anyway#every character is a new person every episode#the dialogue is cringy#and it's uttterly predictable in its cynicism#oh and it's boring#like they feel the need that they have to stretch it out to 8 season when they don't have enough material#so there's just episodes on episodes where absolutely nothing happens except for cringy dialogue and bad close ups#it's so obvious that the writers have no idea how to make a good story beyond copying asoiaf#like after they ran out of book material it just became a hot garbage fire#which is why it's so weird the writers tried to get through the books so quickly so that they could make it their own 'thing'#when they obviously don't know how#I should've probably put all this shit under a read more instead of in the tags but it's too late for that now lmao#I still foolishly have hopes that the prequels will be better since there will be different writers even tho d&d will be the producers#like pls#pls be good#also one more thing I just remembered#i HATE how the show gives itself a pat on the back for being 'feminist' when um it's not???#all the women are the same#all of them just want to get revenge and be cruel and do something cool while walking off and smirking#and then all the men are the rational ones making all the decisions and have to try to calm the women down from their murders sprees god

an interview with @ravenreyes-0g (she/hers)
what are you working on right now? I'm working on both my Bellarke fic for BLM and a personal fantasy story that I've written and rewritten from the beginning to about 5000000 times because my ideas keep changing. My Bellarke fic is a modern day COVID AU that is also the longest I've ever done so it's been taking a minute to finish! :)
what’s something you’d like to write one day? A YA either historical fiction or realistic fiction LGBTQ+ romance. I have  a ton of ideas for plots, but I haven’t quite gotten the chance to sit down and try to plot them out. For historical fiction, I’m very interested in the 1900-1950s era, especially the Roaring 20s and WWI/II so I’d most likely set it there! I’m all in for the angsty romance, but I'd definitely want to end it on a happy note (unlike my current fantasy work) and I’m really looking forward to getting the chance to write a character driven story that doesn’t focus so much on heavy plot elements - something I can’t do as much in a fantasy setting!
what is the fanwork you’re most proud of? This one is actually pretty hard considering how my writing style has developed since I started writing fanfics. But if I had to choose, I’d probably say my FirstPrince (Alex/Henry from Red, White, and Royal Blue) fic on Ao3 called To Love Another Is to Cherish Life Itself. The title is a bit dramatic but basically it is an angsty/fluffy one-shot that I wrote really late one night and did minimal edits to before posting. It definitely feels like the most in character and honest fic I’ve ever done, and it broke my heart to write about some of the darker stuff, but in the end I’m pretty proud of it!
why did you first start writing fic? Well, I’ve been writing fanfics since I was probably 10 or 11 years old (I had PJO phase that spanned close to a decade and I’m still not totally over it 😂) but I started publishing work on Wattpad literally the night I turned 13. That was actually my first Bellarke/the 100 fic! It started out as my predictions for season 5 and then evolved into a fix-it fic for everything I didn’t like about the season. I’ve abandoned it for almost two years, but I’m slowly coming back to it so...slow updates y’all :)
what frustrates you most about fic writing? Everything! Just kidding - I love fic writing! But if I had to choose, probably two main things tho. 1) Creating a plot for a long term fic - I’m sooooo bad at it because I always feel like I’m writing too much in line with the actual show/book/movie and it feels like copying. 2) Making sure that I stay honest to the character I’m writing about. I have a huge tendency to write my fics (ESPECIALLY my one-shots) from the POV of the character who was not the main character in the original thing (like my POV for my RWRB fic is Henry, the love interest of Alex/other main character). This means that the only look inside their head that we’ve gotten has been through the eyes of the main character - which can obviously be biased. I try to stay as honest as I can to my interpretation of the character drawn directly from the text - but sometimes that means that I can’t include scenes that I want to because it feels off/out of character and that’s always disappointing. (also dialogue is just...something I really need to work on)
what are your top five songs right now? Ahhh see it changes on my day/mood but right now it’s probably
1. The Last Great American Dynasty - Taylor Swift 2. The Garden - Dua Lipa 3. Mirrorball - Taylor Swift 4. Icarus - Emma Blackery 5. Betty - Taylor Swift
(taylor really blessed us with folklore...I’m in love)
what are your inspirations? Ahhh - there are many. First and foremost, The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. It’s my favorite book for so many reasons, but it teaches me so much about writing and character development. Also Liesel and Rudy melt my heart every time. I also love all the songs listed above for inspiration, and I listen to I Get To Love You by Ruelle (it’s the Malec wedding song for any Shadowhuners fans out there!) whenever I write a really emotionally intense romantic scene. If you’re looking for amazing fic recs, I highly recommend all of HMS-Chill’s works (multi fandoms), clarkesbell, and DracoWillHearAboutThis on Ao3. Though not all of them write Bellarke/the 100, if you are in any of their fic fandoms, I highly recommend checking them out because they are fantastic writers!
what first attracted you to Bellarke? what attracts you now? Honestly? #1 - their development. I love enemies to lovers with my whole heart, but I honestly didn’t see Bellarke as romantic until the 2x05 hug where I was just hit with a wave of OMG THEY BELONG TOGETHER!!! Seriously, though, the fact that they go from enemies, to grudging allies, to co-leaders, to partners, to friends, to best friends, to soulmates just makes my heart go !!!! - Also they have insane chemistry, and that certainly doesn’t hurt. What attracts me to them now is much the same, but also how much they care about each other. They’d go to the ends of the earth to save one another, and it just blows me away how powerful their screen time is, even when their scenes together have become so rare. I also don’t thinkI’m ever getting over 6x10. I swear my heart actually stopped beating when I watched it live the first time.
BESIDES Bellarke, what character or pairing do you like best on t100? Ha! Umm, I actually really like Murven, both platonically and romantically. Their journey might not be as well developed as Bellarke’s but it is still a powerful one hinging on love and forgiveness. I love how Lindsey/Richard play off of each other on screen - it’s such a joy to watch! I’ve also loved the Octavia/Indra dynamic, but it’s kinda been tabled in recent seasons which is sad :(
why did you decide to start writing for bellarkefic-for-blm? Two reasons - 1) I wanted to do everything I could for BLM and it was so amazing that I could do that, and write works for my favorite show! 2) I was super curious about the prompts people would send in. My work right now is a modern day AU COVID fic where Bellamy and Clarke have to share a room together in an overcrowded hospital until one day Clarke disappears. It’s so different than what I usually write - bc I almost always write canon compliant/in universe fics - so it’s a nice challenge!
what’s your writing process like? Honestly it depends. For long/multi-chapter fics I try to plan out as much of it as I can, characters, plot, important moments, etc - even though I am not very good at planning. But for one-shots I tend to go off of emotion or feelings. Usually when I write one-shots, it’s because a particular line or moment in a book/movie/show really spoke out to me, and spurred this idea in my head. I always start with the line I want to get to at the heart of the fic and then write around it from there. I am definitely much more of a panster than a planner- which is why one-shots work much better for me!
what are some things you’d like to recommend? 1. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Also, All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, Red White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuinston, The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. 2. Musicals! They can be amazing inspiration - my favorites are Les Mis, Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Six, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Hadestown, Anastasia, Island Song, Newsies, & Tuck Everlasting! 3. TV Shows besides The 100 - Anne with an E, Shadowhunters (just pretend you haven’t read the books), French SKAM, Love Victor, HSMTMTS, Merlin, Lucifer, I think I’m just listing fandoms at this point 😂
Also, almost any Taylor Swift, Troye Sivan, Conan Gray, Dua Lipa, Emma Blackery or Harry Styles songs are amazing!
My handle is the same for everything - Twitter, Tumblr, Ao3, Wattpad (if anyone still uses that anymore), etc (RavenReyes0G). I also run a book review blog on Instagram which is @betweenthepagesandtea, so feel free to check that out too! Request a fic written by her via @bellarkefic-for-blm!

Shadowhunters was cheesy and predictable and even with all that LGBTQ characters damn straight but i miss it so much
no drama, gays everywhere and just a fandom where you had a good communaction with the writers. And in 2B and season 3 we didn’t had to fight teeth and claw for every tiny bit of LGBTQ representation but just had a good time

bringing back the unlisted fandoms challenge!
We’re coming up on a week since signups opened, and we have over 470 offers, representing 104 listed fandoms and -- at last count -- ONE HUNDRED TWENTY EIGHT write-in fandoms. Wow, you guys! That’s ... amazing!
Last year, after we figured out that we’d done a fairly bad job predicting which fandoms would be popular, we decided to run a fun little contest with our unlisted fandoms (that is, the “other” fandoms that you write in because they didn’t make it onto our drop-down list.)  That contest ended up being a bit of a battle between Kingsman and Venom... both of which wound up with more signups than over a dozen of the fandoms that were on our list.
Since we seem to have (once again) misjudged which fandoms people would want to create for, we decided to run the contest again! At stake: ultimate bragging rights for the power of your fandom. Which write-in fandom will end up having the highest number of contributors sign up to create works for it? Who will duke it out for the top spot this year? Who will triumph?
To get the challenge started, we’re sharing the complete list of write-in fandoms (so far!), and the number of contributors who’ve signed up to work in those fandom spaces. You can find it at the bottom of this post, below the cut. We’ll post updates of the list of all the fandoms with multiple signups daily through next weekend, then we’ll post the whole list again so you can see any new fandoms that have been written in, and then continue with daily updates of fandoms with multiple signups until signups close on January 31st.
Is your fandom not on the dropdown list? Write it in! Is your fandom not (yet) in this ‘Unlisted Fandom’ list? Write it in when you sign up to create for the auction!
(What is Fandom Trumps Hate? Read more about us here.)
The full list of write-in fandoms, ranked from most signups so far to least, is....

LOVE YOURSELF CHALLENGE.
rules: it’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 favourite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you’ve brought into the world. tag as many writers/artists/etc as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
tagged by: @aziraphalescrowley.
so, uh, it turns out i’ve only written six things in the last year (i suck) but we’ll give this a go anyway.
1. though the truth may vary. (shadowhunters, simon/raphael)
tbh this is one of my favourite things i’ve written full stop. fix-it fic will always be a personal fave of mine, and throw in found family and about a dozen miscellaneous tropes, and yeah, i had such a blast writing this. there’s definitely a sequel fic in me once i... y’know... work out how i’m gonna kill raphael again.
2. take me home. (the order, jack/randall/hamish/lilith)
guys, guys, please watch the order. it is terrible but i love it with my whole heart because of these four characters and their whole dynamic. it’s ot4 heaven. anyway, this is a post season 1 humour fic i wrote because obvs. i’m in the process of writing a much longer, much angstier fic of the same-ish theme because it can never be overdone. annnnd once again, found family. i’m very predictable.
3. the order gifs. (in the same vein as above...)
oh hey! i can add something that’s not fic! so, yeah, turns out this hellsite refuses to let this show be tagged properly, so i started @theorder-netflix as a way of curating all the edits i could find, and then retaught myself how to make gifs to contribute myself. so the link leads to all the gifsets from the show i’ve made since august (i really need to make some more).
4. oh, tonight (we’ll all be outlaws). (the society, grizz/sam)
i’m still not sure what i think about this show, but this fic insisted on being written if only to get it out of my system. i spent way too long googling the harvest times of various vegetables and then used absolutely none of that information in the fic itself. still. grizz was a great pov to write from.
5. this donna/dawn gifset just bc i love the colouring.
full disclaimer: i never finished season 2 of titans. like, will i? probably. but the great pace it started with got a bit lost and i got a bit bored and, like, if they weren’t going to have jason just follow conner around with hearts in his eyes the way dick does with kory what was the point? STILL. whilst reteaching myself to make gifs i made this, and it’s still a fave moment of the show.
so, yeah. this has taught me i need to write a lot more this year, geez. fingers crossed i guess?
tagging: @thisissirius, @daryshkart, @josephtate, @shadow-in-the-light, @jewishclarkkent, and any other creative types i follow!

shadowhunters for the ask game
Oooh, the shiny! Thanks for playing *^*
Top 5 favourite characters: JACE Herondale, Magnus Bane, Lydia Branwell, Isabelle Lightwood, Simon Lewis
Other characters you like: Raphael Santiago, Bat Velasquez
Least favourite characters: Maryse Lightwood, Jocelyn Fairchild, Valentine Morgenstern. All three of them can get fucked ^-^v
Otps: uh let’s say Top 5? Magnus/Jace, Alec/Jace, Simon/Jace, Raphael/Jace, Bat/Jace
Notps: Luke/Maryse, Jace/Clary, canon Magnus/Alec
Favourite friendships: Jace & Alec, Jace & Simon, Isabelle & Clary
Favourite family: okay so that’d be my non-canon construct of Luke/Catarina being married and raising Madzie together and also Clary getting a good stepmom here. Also Jace is part of this family too because fight me on Luke and Clary accepting Jace into their family during the time they though him and Clary were blood ^-^
Favourite episodes: uuuh Blood Calls for Blood? The reveal of Jace and Clary being siblings, Imogen’s gorgeous face appearing for the first time, Lydia and Isabelle, the Jace angst with “Michael Wayland”‘s return, maybe also You Are Not Your Own because Sebastian and Imogen’s pretty faces and the great acting on the Magnus-Valentine body-switch and again lotsa Jace angst
Favourite season/book/movie: deeefinitely season 2, man. Season 2 was actually good. Like, there were still some downsides to it, but overall it was good
Favourite quotes: not really a quote-kinda-gal
Best musical moment: *blinks* sadly this show has no musical episode but good gods it sure had the chaotic energy to have one now I wish there had been an episode where a whacky spells causes everyone to sing and dance, dang
Moment that made you fangirl/boy the hardest: every time Jace and Alec get to get lost in each other’s eyes and had an actual bonding moment?? JACE MOVING IN WITH MAAAGNUS THAT ONE KILLED ME. Magnus and Jace talking on the balcony at the loft with all the kittens and in daylight, it was so nice *^*
When it really disappointed you: ...we don’t have THAT much time and like look at this, it’s already so long? So, my biggest disappointment is when they forced the kids to forgive their neglective and abusive mother because “my husband cheated on me that’s why I’m a bad mom pls pity me uwu” man I am foaming at the mouth just thinking about the shitty writing there like holy crap :D”“““
Saddest moment: shit so many, but like... inside Jace’s mind when the Owl possessed him? He was so small and broken and it hurt??
Most well done character death: nope. Like, the character deaths were... meh, at best, and frustrating at worst...
Favourite guest star: I have genuinely no idea how you define a guest star but since she is barely in episodes, Mimi Kuzyk as Imogen?
Favourite cast member: Dominic Sherwood *^*
Character you wish was still alive: IMOGEN HERONDALE
One thing you hope really happens: I mean the show has ended so there is that :D
Most shocking twist: I mean... I mean all twists were kind of REALLY predictable or foreshadowed SO HARD that they weren’t twists?? I guess the fact that they DIDN’T kill off Max was a shocking twist for me, because I know that happens in the books and I was like mentally bracing myself for it but then it didn’t happen
When did you start watching/reading?: I started watching it when it first started airing and started reading it... I think during season 2?
Best animal/creature: ...the show doesn’t have animals, which is a travesty. Creature, I guess I do like this world’s take on witches - warlocks with warlock-marks and demon-blood
Favourite location: the Institute is so cool? Old, abandoned church but super high-tech? That makes for such a stunning thing, tbh. But also the Seelie Realm is sooo pretty
Trope you wish they would stop using: miscommunication :D I swear the whole fucking way through this show they whack you over the head with characters not talking to each other, like literally the reason season 1 happens is because Jocelyn Rather Not talk to her daughter about her heritage and Luke doesn’t get to talk to her right away and it just continues through the show that characters don’t communicate to further the plot
One thing this show/book/film does better than others: uuuuuuuuuuuuuh *awkward laugh*
Funniest moments: mh...
Couple you would like to see: HELEN AN ALINE. Due to the cancellation they were crammed in there to happen within two episodes, in the background. I wish I coulda gotten a whole season of them at the Institute, slowly developing their relationship
Actor/Actress you want to join the cast: okay so I REALLY wanted to see Kate Bosworth play Céline Herondale in flashbacks. I really wanted them to elaborate further on the Circle in season 3, I wanted to SEE Stephen and Céline - heck, even younger Robert, Maryse, Luke and Jocelyn. Maybe because Luke or Imogen tell Jace stories about his parents. Either way, I faceclaim Kate Bosworth as Céline because she is beautiful and blonde and has heterochromia like Dominic Sherwood
Favourite outfit: while half of Magnus’ outfits look just ridiculous, the other half looks really fucking good. Also, Jace at the Seelie Court was A Look
Favourite item: I liked the way the Mortal Cup looked
Do you own anything related to this show/book/film?: I got custom funko pops of Magnus, Alec and Jace, I own the Herondale family ring, stickers and a button with Jace’s pretty face, a pillow-case with Jace’s pretty everything
What house/team/group/friendship group/family/race etc would you be in?: realistically, I would probably be a mundie. But I would want to be a warlock :D
Most boring plotline: Maryse figuring out her mundie life. Like. No thank you, not just because I dislike the character but also because the actual main characters didn’t even get to do shit beyond their romantic plotlines and I would have much rather seen some more of them doing life and shit
Most laughably bad moment: ...there are too many, I can’t...
Best flashback/flashfoward if any: I... I mean they barely ever did flashbacks. So I guess the best would be Magnus’ past, even though they were too short??
Most layered character: Don’t try to fight me on this, but Jace Herondale. He who starts out as a shallow asshole and then within a short time is established as only using those walls to protect himself after all the child-abuse. Then all the torture, mental health issues, the soft romantic, the sub. All those sides that go beyond that one dimensional asshole persona
Most one dimensional character: FUCKING OLLIE. Goodness, I loathe her. She is really just that obnoxious one dimensional prodding normal human who tries to get into the supernatural world and then acts all “oh no :O” when the supernatural comes to bite her in the ass -_-
Scariest moment: when they went all creepy with the owl
Grossest moment: there probably were, but I can’t recall right now
Best looking male: DOMINIC SHERWOOD AS JACE HERONDALE
Best looking female: MIMI KUZYK AS IMOGEN HERONDALE
Who you’re crushing on (if any): Imogen
Favourite cast moment: Dominic Sherwood being carried around by others :D I love that there are more than one male cast member to carry him around :DDD
Favourite transportation: that flying motorbike they absolutely underused...
Most beautiful scene (scenery/shot wise): visiting Idris for the first time?
Unanswered question/continuity issue/plot error that bugs you: looooooooool the list is too long
Best promo: I don’t watch promos
At what point did you fall in love with this show/book: During the movie!

Shadowhunters rewatch - 1x01
-I love that the show opens on Alec! I miss baby Alec with his disdain for everyone and everything
-I never read the books so I didn't know Alec was gay when I first watched shadowhunters but now that I'm rewatching it I can't believe I didn't figure it out just from those fingerless leather gloves alone
-I love this opening Lightwood siblings hunting sequence
-PANDEMONIUM! I forgot about that place, apparently so did the writers
-It's such a full circle moment watching the start of Clace and Clary's story when I know it ends the same way 💕 art school student can see a boy she shouldn't be able to see
-Mundane Simon 💕 you're not gonna be around for long
-Oh hot damn it's papa wolf
-Do the NYPD often artistically drape red silky fabric around a dead body?
-That's a very intrusive captain "I need you to do something for me" "Marry Jocelyn" "You're already acting like a husband, go be one" mind ya own damn business woman
-All the foreshadowing in this scene, Dot showing the mortal cup tarot card them talking about "magically" predicting the future 😂
-What a way to try to tell your daughter she's a shadowhunter by basically giving her a magical stick and letting her leave before you explain what it is
-Flashback Magnus had no problem with having his warlock mark on show
-Why would you take a family heirloom on a night out?
-THE iconic Isabelle "platinum" (I'm with Alec...that's white) wig and white pleather outfit 🔥 "Demon's dig blondes"
-Alec's hair was amazing in season 1
-What is with the weird red runes?
-Season 1 Alec would report season 3 Alec to the clave for not following the rules and I love that
-Why is Mundane Simon already so ripped...like damn Alberto 🔥
-Pandemonium looks like such a good club! Magnus sure knows how to throw a party! Speaking of Magnus look at him surrounded by his groupies who all look like they've just been engaging in BDSM
-Who invited the men in black to this party 😂
-To think Alec and Magnus were so close to each other but didn't meet in Pandemonium
-Do these Demons get blue eyes when they get turned on, is that why they all get blue eyes while Izzy dances?
-Ah the first parabatai fighting together scene 💕 I've always loved when Alec and Jace work together in the middle of fights and when they both stab the last demon at the same time
-Well shit started hitting the fan pretty quickly
-Poor Dot had such a shit time, she died in the first episode and it was just downhill from there
-Valentine you fantastic arsehole
-I've never noticed that Clary headbutted Izzy when she woke up in the institute until just now 😂
-And so begins Alec's disdain for Clary's (and Simon's) existence in their lives
-Simon is such a good friend, Clary definitely seems like she's on crack and he's just like let me help you

My thoughts while watching the Shadowhunters finale: Alliance
- I hate how scared Jonathan sounds about losing his humanity. “I can’t feel anything anymore.”
- Also, I hate the Seelie Queen.
- Jonathan’s wings look amazing.
- I don’t want this show to end.
- I really want to care about the Clace scene, but the scene just feels weird somehow?
- I love Maryse.
- “Magnus is not dead.”
- “I have a wedding to plan.” I love that Alec has his priorities in order.
1. Save Magnus
2. Marry Magnus
3. Find/stop Jonathan
- Of course Lilith is here.
- So, it’s “Mr. Bane” now? Is it me, or does Lilith look a little scared of Magnus?
- Magnus looks so powerful in this scene and I love it.
- “So I can murder that matricidal nightmare I call a son.” You spent the entire first half of the season trying to resurrect him, and now you’re just going to kill him? He did try to kill you, so I guess it’s fair.
- Magnus sitting on that chair like it’s a throne. That’s it.
- Magnus is so powerful and I love it.
- “So sad.” I don’t know why that sounds so funny, but it is hilarious.
- Good for you Maia, I’m proud of you.
- “I was just gonna call you.” Literally.
- Yay :).
- Of course Izzy is hot. I mean on fire. I mean, literally on fire. Because something always has to go wrong.
- Lorenzo Rey as a lizard. That’s it.
- Hey, Helen is here.
- Is Izzy not allowed to be happy?
- “I’ll tell them myself.” So, I’m guessing you won’t tell them?
- “You were kissing my sister?”
- She didn’t tell them. Well, she told half, but she also lied, so, yeah.
- Jace looks so confused. “What is going on here?”
- “Isabelle and Simon were kissing when this happened.” Alec feels so weird about saying that, and that’s hilarious.
- Clary looks so proud of Simon. Like, she definitely approves.
- “I need you to turn me into a vampire...” Wow, Alec, calm down. Take it easy. Perhaps there are other, less drastic options? Also, Alec is willing to become a vampire so he can go save Magnus.
- Poor Jonathan. Also, kinda gross.
- Izzy is willing to risk her life to save Magnus, and I love her.
- I have a feeling I know where this is going and I Love It.
- Beautiful? Are you sure? It’s kinda really gross. I do like that it looks similar to how Lilith looked when we first saw her. Also, the claws? Why?
- I have hated Lorenzo this entire season, but for some reason I am really happy to see him.
- Lorenzo listen to Simon’s music? Alright, carry on.
- “If it weren’t for me, you’d still be eating dead flies.”
- “You sure one of you guys doesn’t want to go first?”
“Absolutely not.”
“No, thank you.”
I love how much confidence everyone has in Clary.
- Well, it worked.
- Alec with magic. That’s it.
- Jace is so jealous and sulky. Also, why does Meliorn always seems to be flirting with Jace? I’m not imagining that, right?
- Ephemeral. I’ve only ever heard that word once, in Teen Wolf.
- Of course they are split up.
- Perhaps you should try magic, Alec.
- Alec wearing the ring to help him calm down. Also, Lorenzo being surprisingly helpful and understanding.
- Bringing a leather jacket to Hell really does seem like a stupid idea.
- Meliorn looked so offended when Jace said/asked “You’re not hot?”
- Meliorn realising he’s about to have so much fun.
- “Are you sweating from the heat, or from fear?”
“From fear. I’m terrified.”
- Jace realising Meliorn is a Seelie, and so he’s connected to a Seelie, which means he can’t lie. Really, I’m disappointed in both Jace and myself for not predicting this.
- Meliorn is enjoying this so much, and so am I.
- Jonathan looks totally different with white hair. I really like that Luke Baines wanted to dye his hair for the finale, because it really helps to show that this Jonathan is different from the previous episodes, when he still had his humanity. He looks and acts much more evil now, while before you could definitely still see some good in him.
- Don’t kiss. Don’t kiss. Of course she was going to kiss him. I’m glad he totally didn’t care though.
- “Okay.”
“Stop.”
“One more question.”
“No.”
“A serious question.”
“Please, stop.”
I love Meliorn.
- I told you Meliorn always seems to be flirting.
- “Like a nine.”
- This fight is so good. They fight together really well.
- Izzy to the rescue.
- No, Izzy, you’re not fine.
- Who the hell is...? Is that Luke? It doesn’t look like Luke. It sounds like Luke. Are we sure that this is Luke?
- The music. The hug. “I thought I’d never see you again.” “I told you, it’s only Edom.”
- “Then I stay here with you.” First Alec is willing to become a vampire for Magnus. Then, he’s willing to stay in Hell for Magnus. These two really are hopelessly in love.
- He said it. He called her “Biscuit.” That just makes me so happy.
- “It’s okay. I get it. He’s a good guy. He’s been through so much already. It’s lucky he’s tougher than he looks. I actually always kind of admired that about him.” I had no idea how much I wanted Jace to say those things about Simon.
- The look Jace has when he realises what he just said.
This episode was amazing. I’m not ready for this show to end.

April Media Madness!
Hello, and welcome to what is most likely the last list of all the media I consumed this month! Because it’s been a whole year since I started doing this, and I’m starting to repeat myself a lot. But it’s been interesting, and I hope maybe someone found something to watch or read or whatever along the way.
And this doesn’t include all the new seasonal anime I started watching...because otherwise this would be 10 pages long.
March Media
Movies!
Avengers Endgame: *No Spoilers* The final act in this stage of the Avengers as we know it is finally here. And man they stuck the landing. I have so many emotions. Of course there are things I have issues with, but I really don’t care that much. I’m just trying not to cry like a baby just thinking about it. 100000/10
Aquaman: It’s Aquaman guys. It’s a bunch of fish, people, and fish people going to war in a brightly colored mess of explosions and underwater politics. This movie is ridiculous, but I like it a lot. Sometimes you just need a movie where people ride giant seahorses and an octopus plays the drums. Who cares about plot holes? Jason Mamoa just lifted up a submarine! 8/10
Tumblr media
The Princess Bride: You all know The Princess Bride. I just couldn’t stop thinking about it after season 2 of The Tick so...8/10
Loving Vincent: An animated feature telling the story of a man trying to deliver a letter written by Vincent Van Gogh right before his death.  Oh yeah, and every frame is hand painted! It has the basic feel of an old timey detective story because the plot is literally a guy going around talking to people who knew Vincent who all have different accounts of his personality and the events leading up to his suicide. It starts out a little slow, but I ended up getting into it. The overall moral is that you never really know anyone; we are survived by what others think about us. Even if you have no interest in the story, if you love animation or any visually creative movies, this is a must watch. Every frame of this movie is a literal work of art, and it doesn’t get nearly the recognition it deserves. 8/10
Tumblr media
Books!
Reign the Earth by A.C. Gaughen: The teenage daughter of a desert clan becomes a queen when she is forced to marry the king of a rival country to bring peace to the land. News flash, the king is an asshole, and no one brings peace to the land. Also there are elemental powers like in Avatar the Last Airbender. This is a good book, with a solid main character, strong world building, and an intriguing plot. It can be heavy handed in its messages, but they’re messages that need to exist. I’d also give it some major trigger warnings for abuse, torture, and gas-lighting. Our main villain is a very well written abuser because his actions are so accurate to real life, but the last one hundred pages were pretty much just suffer porn. Also the most interesting character in this book gets majorly sidelined, and I need her to have her own book. But if you like culture rich world building, interesting characters, Avatar-like bending powers, and a plot with lots of twists and turns, this is the book for you. 8/10
Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat: Prince Damen, local disaster bisexual and the rightful heir to the throne of his country, is captured in a coup by his brother and is sent to live as a slave to the prince of an enemy country...whose brother Damen just happens to have murdered. It’s basically a 250 page discount version of Game of Thrones where a precious cinnamon roll must navigate a dangerous political landscape without anyone finding out his real identity. This an amazing series, but the first book is so intentionally horrifying that it scares some people off. It is meant to make the reader as uncomfortable as possible in the beginning so we can spend the other two books trying to fix the problems in both countries and watching the main characters have adventures and fall in love. The writing is fine but not quite up to par with the other two books. But hey, it’s a hard R, high stakes political drama with one of the best couples I’ve ever seen, and my number one most hated villain of all time. If you’re into Game of Thrones, you’ll probably love this series too...even if there are no dragons. 9/10
Prince’s Gambit by C.S. Pacat: The second book in the Captive Prince trilogy in which our princes basically perform Mulan’s I’ll Man Out of You while training a bunch of terrible soldiers and riding across the country in the slowest slow burn romance to ever burn slowly. The whole book is our main characters trying to figure out what they are to each other, going on adventures, and playing mind games with their enemies. Personally, I think it has the best plot, the best side adventures, the most tension, and the best representation of going from enemies to reluctant allies to confused friends to lovers ever. This is the book where people who weren’t into the first one go “oh I get the hype” because we’re finally out of the castle and don’t have to be creeped out every five minutes. 10/10
King’s Rising by C.S. Pacat: The final book in the Captive Prince trilogy, where Damen and Laurent must sneak across enemy territory make their final stand and gain back both of their kingdoms. There are a lot of great things about this finale, but pretty much everyone agrees that the big climactic take down moment of the entire series is based around some extremely convenient coincidences and should have had more...build up. Oh well, it gives us a happy ending one way or another so I can’t be too mad. 9/10
The Promised Neverland: Another manga, and technically I didn’t start from the beginning, but I’m counting it anyway. A horror/thriller story focusing on the children of Grace Field House, an orphanage where everyone is a happy family and there are definitely no deep dark secrets about what happens to the children who leave the house...right? It was made into an anime that premiered in January, and it was so good that I picked up the manga where the anime finished because I just couldn’t wait for the next season. And yes, the manga is also awesome. Please read it, or watch the anime. It is my contender for anime of the year, and it’s the most consistently well written mysterious manga I have read in a long time. 10000/10
TV Shows!
The Tick (2016 season 2): The Amazon Prime original series based on the comic wherein an awkward accountant becomes a superhero with the help of a big blue suited man going only by the name “The Tick.” AND I’M SO HAPPY THIS GOT A SECOND SEASON! This season is a lot more about The Tick and Arthur being recognized as actual superheroes and goes through a very...One Punch Man style plot of hero bureaucracy. This is a prime example of how a superhero comic adaption should feel. It takes itself just seriously enough to get by, but it laughs at itself a lot too. I’ve seen the 2001 live action series and a few episodes of the cartoon, but every adaptation is special in its own way, with different side characters and overarching plots. If nothing else, watch it for Dangerboat, the sentient gay AI played by Alan Tudyk who is in love with the main character. It has all the background absurdity of Umbrella Academy with its own quiet commentary on mental illness and government corruption…There is so much material to work with and no one else knows about this show! Now, if only we’d get a live action version of Chairface... 10/10
Tumblr media
Kim’s Convenience (season 3): I talked about this show in my November media. It’s the sitcom about a Korean-Canadian family who runs a convenience store, and I love it so much. It’s a bit predictable in its plots, but it has fun, diverse characters, accurate family dynamics, and my favorite thing about it is the fact that it promotes strong male-female friendships with no romantic intentions at all. If you want something light and fluffy, please give it a chance! 9/10
Honorable Mentions
I finally started reading Always and Forever, Lara Jean, the final book in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy, and it’s adorable.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend has ended with a perfect finale, and I’m sad. This was hands down the best show on the CW, and it doesn’t get nearly the love it deserves.
Tumblr media
Shadowhunters only has one episode left, and now I’m VERY SAD. This show was a mess, but it was our mess. It may be far from perfect, but it included so many important topics that deserve a spot on television. It has evolved so much from season one into the point where each episode is actually emotionally impactful, and I’m going to miss it so much.

The Shadowhunters Season Finale Thoughts
With just an episode left before the 2 hour series finale, I think it’s safe to say that we have no idea where the writers are going with the finale. But for purposes of discussion, I’m going to try and make sense of what we know so far all throughout 3B with the promo and sneak peeks and teasers available for the last episode of Season 3. Remember, this was done prior to the cancellation, so we may or may not see storylines close or overlap for a possible Season 4 renewal. I will have a separate prediction for 3x20: City of Glass episode once I have enough spoilers, teasers to work with.
I’ll start with the biggest arcs that should be closed by the end of this season:
The Malec story arc- this has unofficially come to a head, and I don’t see any reason for this arc to be dragged to the mud. Really. Someone tell the SH writers to close this angst fest with Malec already. No good is going to come out of this, trust and believe that. They had the right intention to start the 3B season with Magnus dealing with the loss of his magic and his mundane life. That was actually very clever, but this was a classic case of “finish what you started” gone bad. All actions have consequences and I liked that they went for it but it wasn’t exactly a home run, as you can see. Halfway through the season, it became problematic. Every single episode had a ‘malec’ bait, like jesus, if you’re going to make Malec the A-plot of this season, stick with it. Don’t give 2-4 minutes worth of Malec and call it a day. Don’t get me started on those OOC moments throughout the season, I almost wanted to bleach my eyes just re-watching those. I love Malec with all my heart, they are my babies. So I am very critical of how they write them in because, even Cassie Clare took her time exploring the relationship of Malec in the books. And I couldn’t be any happier when she finally had them married by the end of the Dark Artifices trilogy. That was 12 years in the making, that’s how you build a relationship. I hope these writers paid attention to how CC handled Malec in the books.
The Dark Clary, Team Evil and Jonathan arc- this, was a missed opportunity. The books had a better way of depicting Jonathan as the BIG BAD of the Heavenly Fire book. Luke is great as a Jonathan, but the material he’s given is lack luster that unless the next episode (3x20) needs to deliver the big guns for his character, otherwise, Asmodeus could easily steal his thunder. Dark Clary wasn’t much of a help either. I mean, you turned her evil, and a few episodes after, she turns back to being good again. Way to go for character development. Even if they had a 4th season, having Clary turn 2 episodes before the season finale isn’t exactly the smartest way to do it. I will bet my ass that they will just brush this arc right under our noses and we’d forget about it because there’s another Malec trope happening. And they say this is the A-plot of this season? Really? I mean, really? That’s not a trick question. I need answers from the SH writers.
The rest of the sub plots- Sizzy, Jordan/Maia, Luke as a Praetor, Asmodeus and Magnus were fillers they needed in order to complete a 40 minute episode. The only redeeming quality of those plot lines were the acting, otherwise, if they had bad actors acting out poorly written arcs, you can just imagine the backlash they’d get.
Overall, this feels like they will close the Dark Clary arc as soon as they can and bait us with a world-ending moment with Malec to tide us through the 2 hour series finale where they promised to give us a Malec wedding. Because I refuse to accept that it’s anything but a Malec wedding. We’ve been robbed of so many good plots this season that a wedding is the only way to fix this mess they created.
For now, let’s re-watch the entire 3B season before heading to the season finale next week.
Keep the fight alive, Angels!
