Spy X Family: Mission 2 vs Mission 91 (Spoilers) - Yor's relationship with city hall co-workers

Gotta love how Yor is growing both as a person and also in her social life.

I feel these two panels not only have an interesting contrast in how her relationship with her co-workers have developed; but also in her general demeanour. In Mission 2 she acted much more withdrawn, distant and stoic, barely reacting much at all to them. Meanwhile in the panel from Mission 91, Yor is much more openly emotive and interactive with the others.

I've also seen it pointed out that stepping in to defend Millie from the Lady Patriot Society doesn't seem like something early Yor would've done, since its an act which brings attention to herself and could jeopardise her cover. In Mission 91 however she just stepped in and willingly made herself the centre of attention by speaking to the Lady Patriots.

On a semi-side note, am looking forward to seeing more of how Yor's work life improves. Could be interesting if we see more done with Sharon's son going to Eden in the same year as Anya for that matter.

SPY X FAMILY OC: Shane

(Remember in SPY X FAMILY, Sharon the city hall clerk had a son who prepared for attending Eden College~? I decided to draw and name him as "Shane"~ If Sharon's last name is revealed, I will add it)

Occupation: Student of Eden College

Nickname: Glass boy (by Damian, Ewen, and Emille)

Shane is a son of Sharon, the Berlint City Hall clerk who is also fellow worker of Yor, Camilla and Millie. He attends Eden College in same year as Anya and her friends. He have heard many times his mother and her friends talking about Anya's "stepmother" Yor behind her back and when he encounter Anya, he straight up apologized to her in behalf of his mother's "immature and stupidly gossiping behavior" towards her mother. Although he is in different class hall, he often join Anya and her friends to hang out or help Anya studying. Academically, he is has much higher scores than Damian. According to Ewen and Emile, he is responsible for making DONNA SCHLAG to cry in mental breakdown due to his cruelly sarcastic comments. And yet, he did not get a single Tonitrus Bolt. 

Using Anya's love for "Spy Wars", he connect the series with assignments, homework or studies to help her getting better grades and that successfully worked. Hence, she becomes reliant on him every time she struggle to understand certain topics of studies. But as much as he is intelligent, he is eloquent in a very snarky and cynical manner. He didn't bother to make snarky remarks at his own mother, her friends Camilla and Millie, deeming their behaviors "immature" and "vulgar". Not even Loid and Yuri are spared from his cruelly blunt words. Another time when Shane visited Anya's house to help her with projects, he noticed her getting uncomfortable due to Loid spying on them (and his overly contemplating thoughts that cause her to feel queasy) and told Loid off by saying "If you don't want your daughter to die because of her helicopter dad, I suggest you move along and do your own job." caught the greatest WISE spy off guard.

okay. i have finally finished my rewatch and i think i've finally made sense of my thoughts vis a vis ted and jamie's relationship.

i think it's very interesting that the exact moment ted pulls away from being directly involved in jamie's development is when he realizes that what jamie needs is a father. like in season one and arguably the first half of season two he is very hands on in trying to get jamie to realize his potential/the error of his ways but like. things are noticeably different after he sees him and james through the door, and then after wembley they do not really interact again in a meaningful way until mom city. roy literally picks it up as ted sets it down, like. he can't be what jamie needs he doesn't Want to, he can barely even handle what he feels for henry like we see in mom city, he's not picking up a bonus son you know

i really do think it's a very interesting way to handle their relationship specifically. they're so so intertwined in their character arcs and they're constantly setting each other's off but they can't really meet in the middle because ted can't/won't connect with him on that level. they're a son without a father and a father without a son and they can't click into that relationship because ted pulls away from him the minute it becomes clear that's what jamie needs, and we see it come full circle and see why in his monologue during mom city

🐉 Next Time On South Park Z 🐉

The couple of all time 💝

Here it is, the true (super belated) Valentine’s Day picture. Yet another cringe crossover absolutely nobody asked for yet I deliver because I can. Apologies if I’ve been posting way too much South Park stuff, it’s yet another franchise that I’m currently unhealthily hyper-fixated on. Enjoy some more Randy and Sharon appreciation art from me, because these two dorks are just everything to me <3

This was also made as a small tribute to Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball after I found out that he passed away earlier this month on March 1st. Even though I’m a casual fan of the series, still makes me sad that he’s no longer and that we lost another anime/manga legend.

This whole art became a thing based on a phone call between me and one of my older brothers. We were just talking about random dumb stuff and he jokingly asked me to draw Cartman as Naruto and Kyle as Saskue (which is an art project that y’all know damn well I’ll be drawing in the future so look out for that lmao). I just started laughing to myself, but then I thought to myself, “What other anime could I cross over with South Park?” then Dragon Ball popped up in my head all of a sudden, and that’s how this cringefest came to be.

I can kinda see some connections with it, tbh. Both Goku and Randy are dumbass but funny as hell dads (they also have black hair), and both Chichi and Sharon are no-nonsense moms who are often exasperated by their hubbies’ idiotic actions, but do love them deep down and have shared some wholesome cute moments together with them. Both series also feature a lot of fighting and deaths too lol

And since it is the year of the dragon, this pic is pretty fitting :>

I thought I would take forever with this picture because a. I’m total garbage at drawing realistic-ish, non-animal guy characters, and b. I don’t draw side-view faces that much, but surprisingly it wasn’t too hard. I did get kinda lazy with the lower half of Randy’s body and didn’t draw it, but besides that, the whole art was pretty easy. Minus drawing the hands. Because Jesus tap dancing Christ, the hands took me lightyears to get right 🙃

All in all, this might be one of my favorite 2024 pieces of art I’ve drawn so far. Again, these two are special to me, and I finally got the chance to cross over some of my favorite things, cartoons and anime. Maybe I might draw Stan and Wendy as Gohan and Videl in the future as a little follow-up ^^

Also, the mental image of Randy going Super Saiyan is just the funniest shit to me, istg someone needs to make fanart, an animation, or some other sort of meme of that 💀

Anyway I just made myself laugh out loud with this:

Tony was a college student the last time Howard saw him, probably working on his masters or even his PhD. Maybe he dated and had sex, but Howard probably would have seen it as “boy growing into a man” stuff. It’s normal for college kids, and personally, the less he hears about it the better.

Now Steve. Steve assumed fondue was slang for sex and got super jealous about Howard asking Peggy out for some. Howard probably thinks “ah so uneducated he thinks fondue is slang for sex,” and then, immediately after, “lmao what a pervert? Why’d he assume it was a sex thing and not just a date thing? I’ve decided I’m going to be insufferable about this” and he makes fun of Steve for being a pervert until he dies.

What I’m saying is, I want Howard to come to the future in one of those hand-wavy ways and he hears that Steve and Tony are fucking (the agent was not very good at explaining being gay was more widely accepted and that Steve and Tony are actually dating and in love). He remembers College Age Tony. He remembers pervert Steve.

So he assumes Steve is the one who corrupted Tony and reacts accordingly by breaking his fist on Steve’s face.

I’m not saying all the fic where Howard is like “you corrupted my greatest creation blah blah blah >:V” aren’t good because they are I just think it’d be funny for Tony to be the one wrong-footed because he thought his dad would hate him for sleeping with Steve but here Howard is attempting to smack Steve with a chair for “corrupting my poor boy do you understand how young he is you pervert I’m going to smash your brains in or die trying!!!”

Also it would be even funnier if Steve really is the kinky one in their relationship because Tony did all his kinky stuff earlier in life and he’ll do it for Steve but he also likes just tender vanilla sex.

Steve: How did you know 😨

Howard: *scream of pure unadulterated rage, breaks the chair over Steve’s head and then breaks his other fist on Steve’s face*

'Map of the World' well traveled

Son Benjamin's senior project at U-M's School of Art and Design included five mixed-media panels collectively known as "Map of the World."

They're all roughly 64 inches tall and 32 inches wide and composed of salvaged scrap wood - old window frames mainly, which means that if you're going to hang one on a wall, you'd better have a solid stud and some industrial-strength wire.

Sharon and I bought two (one hangs in our home; the other, at the lake). My brother bought one and a friend bought one.

The fifth panel (pictured above) ended up on the wall of a Lansing restaurant, where it remained from 2005 until two days ago. Now it's in our living room, leaning against a wall.

It so happens that the restaurant is being remodeled and can no longer display the panel properly. Somebody there who was aware of our connection to the artwork tracked us down and offered it to Sharon and me.

We brought it home Thursday. Now we're cleaning it up and searching for some wall space.
