Any tips for the new annihilation?

The new Shangshu annihilation map is very strategically simple and very, very annoying. You make two killboxes, one for DPS and one for poison, and then try to solve the bottom lane as efficiently as possible to have more slots to dedicate to the two killboxes.

The Orange box is where you're going to be dealing with the main enemy forces. Take note that ranged damage is preferable, as many of the waregeists hit hard in melee. Take any possible formation that fits your lineup best, but you will want a good mix of AOE and at least one source of heals because those ceramic dragons hurt.

The final waves spam a lot of the invisibility-granting waregeists, so Silverash with S3 is highly recommended unless you can bomb them into oblivion before they get their smoke up.

Other possible recommendations: Meteorite S1, Thorns S3, Fiammetta S3, Rosmontis S2, Saria S2, Ifrit S2, Nightingale S2, Passenger S3, basically mix a tank, a heal, and a lot of AOE damage (or very strong ST) damage

The red box is where you deal with the mass hordes of tableware. You will be dealing with a LOT of them, sometimes almost 20+ all at once. You're going to need a lot of poison or multihit attacks to deal with this, good placements shown via blue arrows (the red arrow was a mistake).

The two strongest options are Ethan S1 and Aosta S1, Ethan only has to be E0L1 since he only cares about the poison from S1, while Aosta has to be E1L1. Combined, they have enough AOE poison to take out almost all of the tableware, but it wouldn't hurt to have backups just in case.

Mech-accord Casters like Kjera and Goldenglow are decent backups as their drones count as another entity, so Goldenglow with her Skill 2 for example will deal 3 hits every time she attacks, while Blue Poison with her poison and multishot can assist with taking out the tankier tableware as well.

Lee is not an optimal choice for this stage unlike in his event, as annihilation does not give you DP per second and thus he will drain your DP stores to nothing.

When dealing with the bottom lane you have two options: either a very strong single target Guard able to fight the Sharpedges that spawn at the bottom lane (and these guys are real strong) like Nearl the Radiant Knight S1 or Hellagur S2, or you make use of the bottomless pit with a Hookmaster, such as Gladiia S1 (noted by the G).

Note that Gladiia MUST be S1M3 in order to have the pull strength to pull the Sharpedges into the pit, otherwise she can only take out the smaller enemies that spawn from there. If your Gladiia (or any other Hookmaster) does not have Significant pull strength, then you will need backup. Fartooth with S3 equipped can take out each Sharpedge as they spawn, (Position shown as F) but you'll have to time her shots as there's going to be a lot of tableware in the way that will block her attacks. You must thread the needle with this one. You may also use Schwarz S3 and even avoid the problem of the waregeists getting into range by moving her 3 tiles to the right of the Fartooth tile, but the Sharpedges will be standing still outside of her range so you will need to be paying close attention to when they finally DO walk into range.

Idea in my head of Scar having a pair of golden scissors that can cut the strings of a soul mate. And he keeps staring at the strings that bind him to Grian… the days Grian says he doesn’t want to be with him… and seeing him with BigB… and starts to find himself holding the thread wanting to just cut them loose.

Question is would Grian fight him when he tries to cut them?

Oh god imagine, if Grian could feel it when he starts to do it. He feels a sharp pain when Scar grabs the string, it happens a lot more. Yes Grian knows about Scar having the scissors. One night when he is off with BigB the pain, it hurts SO much more than normal. He doubled over heaving, quickly excusing himself and running as fast as he could to Scar, where he finds him at the jellie pandas sanctuary sitting on a rock, scissors halfway through the thread.

"Scar! Stop it!" Grian yells as he pushes past the sleeping fuzzy creatures.

Scar laughs, loud and bitter, "What, Grian. I thought you wanted BigB no?" forcing the string against the sharpedges once more, Scar bites back his own cry of pain as Grian trips making his way closer to Scar.

"That has nothing to do with this-"

"It has everything to do with this!" Scar all but yells, anger burning in his eyes as he glares down at Grian from his perch on the rock. "I'm not good enough for you, I will get us both killed. That's what you said, so you kept me close, you tried to keep me locked up. I'm sick and tired of your games Grian."

Grian huffs out a breath, looking up at Scar, eyes pleading. "I want you Scar, I- I'm afraid to lose you.. I'm trying to help us win Scar!"

Scar scoffs, pulls the scissors away gripping the tightly at his side, "So you thought going off and cheating on your soulmate was the best way to do it? To hurt me and break my heart doing so?"

"You would've ruined the plan Scar if I told you. It's better if you didn't know-" Grian tries to explain again, cutting off when Scar jumps down off the rock right in front of Grian glaring at him.

"All you think about is yourself." Scar says, pushing Grian back roughly making him trip back and land onto the side of a sleeping Jellie with an oof.

"I'm leaving, going back to the jungle with the Jellies in the morning. Go have your fun, Don't get me killed."

Remember than the Apparition enemies’ true forms need to just take a certain amount of hits to defeat, meaning DoT and fast ASPD is a godsend. Here are a few Operators you want for that.

Exusiai on S1. Don’t be fooled, S3 going off is luck/time dependent while S1 is much more reliable.

Blue Poison in general, but S2 is best since you can time it better.

Ethan on S1 is especially good here, having his module maxed out also helps, but is not needed.

Any Mech-Accord caster, as both the drone and the caster count for 2 hits.

GreyThroat (yes, you read that right) on her S1. S2 works as well, but you have to time it well.

Hibiscus Alter on S2, though save it for the Clarity’s Lampstand and Sharpedge’s Spearheads if possible.

Amiya on S1. While her S2 is a bit better, the stun could screw you if you’re unlucky.

Swordmasters in general, as they naturally hit twice.

Lava Alter on S2, though be mindful of where your allies are lest you make my mistake and realize Ethan’s maxed out module makes him surprisingly beefy in the HP department.

Other general advice I can is that most of the enemies are pretty weak to Arts damage, so blitz the Sharpedge and Blueflower with arts ASAP if you can. Push and Pull Operators are also pretty handy here as well, Gladiia specifically was the MVP of my Risk 8 run.

Here’s a few more... specific/rare Operator’s that can help.

Gavial Alter on S2 had legit saved my Risk 8 by pulling in enemies that would had devoured my squishier units at the bottom of the map.

Specter Alter on S2 essentially meant I could determine when to switch her into AoE Arts damage, as well as tanking the Sharpedge for a bit before Gavial finished it off.

Blaze on 2 was a surprisingly helpful lane holder at the bottom of the map thanks to her high HP and her AoE archtype letting her attack multiple Apparitions at once so Gladiia and Specter only had to hit them once or twice and I didn’t have to waste their skills.

And that’s about it for everything that helped me for this daily map. Hopefully this advice will help you too.

Also, if a specific challenge mission let’s you use the support buff, use the fucking support buff. This is a single-player, tower defense gambling game, only nerds give a shit about the nonexistent leaderboards.

Since the Invitation to Wine event ends in about 34 hours, I thought now would be a good time to make another helpful post about the EX stages for anyone who's been putting them off (totally don't know what that's like haha). Won't cover the first 3 bc EX-1 and 2 are easy and I already made a post about EX-3

EX-4

You'd think with the layout of the stage and the way enemies circle around it would be a good stage to create a stationary defense and let the enemies come to you, except NO, DON'T TRY TO DO THAT BECAUSE

You absolutely CANNOT wait for these guys to come to you. Resistance helps a little, yes, but especially on CM these guys do so much damage that if you let them circle around they'll absolutely destroy your Operators. You're gonna want to be proactive and basically spawncamp these guys with burst damage skills while using fast redeploys and/or Bena to draw their fire.

EX-5

This stage is fairly straightforward. The Lamp Guys and Peacocks spawn from the middle red box, while a bunch of mook enemies spawn from the left. The usual suspects (Ethan, Bibeak, BP, etc) can handle the left side pretty well as long as you put a good amount of burst damage up for the Lamps and Peacocks. Even on CM where you can't deploy on the farthest back tiles you have plenty of space, just don't let the mooks distract you from the Lamps and Peacocks (yes I'm gonna keep calling them that)

EX-6

The Peacocks and Sharpedges will do circles around the middle while the dog reskins try to distract and annoy you. Bring AOE Snipers for the Peacocks and Marksman for their spawns. CM's tripled cost for Casters and Guards unfortunately means Ifrit is only viable on normal mode, but Schwarz and Fartooth are good replacements for taking care of the Sharpedges. As long as you can afford to bring enough damage for the middle Sharpedges the Marksman can take care of the spawns. Be aware that two Sharpedges will attempt to rush the bottom box and break through your defenses, but they give you plenty if time to prepare in between. If you can afford them, Specter S2, Skadi S3, and Surtr S3 are good ways to take care of those two, but if you don't have 60+ DP to spare Kaltsit or Eunectes can also do the trick.

EX-7

Okay I'm gonna be honest, this map is ridiculously easy compared to everything before it. There's a whole lane that every enemy HAS to walk down, and even if you don't have Ifrit the only enemies in this stage that remotely pose a threat to your defense are the Lamps, who give you plenty of time to burst them down or helidrop on them. Heck, they only have a C in Res, just use Utage! So yeah, Utage and other burst dmg ops for the Lamps, and the Usual Suspects in the Mandatory Lane for everything else.

EX-8

It's Dragon Part Two: Boogaloo. This stage isn't exactly easy but it isn't complicated. Bring the Usuals for the mooks and Wisps, debuffs and burst damage to kill the dragon, fast redeploys to bait the tail and bulky ops to tank the laser. You beat this guy once, you can do it again.
