Y/N Smith and Matt Smith React To Your Tweets About “House of the Dragon”

You were excited to do an Interview with Matt after such a long time. You’d done a couple talk shows spontaneously over the years, but this was formally about a project you were both so enthralled by. 

In a way, the mood was different. You were now a married couple who had two beautiful kids, and had been friends for over ten years. Time really flew by.

As the interview began you were sitting next to your husband, a bowl full of papers in front of you.

“I am Matt Smith,” You started, looking at Matt expectantly.

“And I’m Y/N Smith.” He continues, a victorious smile on both of your faces. The multiple failed takes definitely made its way into both of your minds. 

“And we’re here to react to your tweets about ‘House of the Dragon’!” You both say in unison, high fiving each other as you let out a laugh.

“We were told you guys many things to say about the show when it's not even out!” Your voice was amused, while Matt looked at you with a small smile.

“The internet is truly surprising” Matt lets out, making you shake your head.

“Okay, so here’s the deal. We’ll both be reading some things you’ve posted, and we’ll react on the spot.”

“No judgment on our side.” You shot Matt a look, “Maybe just a little.”

“Can I go first, please?” You ask, slightly pouting so he would say yes. You knew he could never truly refuse you if you made that face.

“Of course, my love.” The grin on your face at his words was all Matt would ever need in return.

You reach for the bowl and shake it, “So nobody can say we cheated!” You tell the camera, pointing your finger like you would when warning your children about something.

“Nobody’s going to say that now, Y/N.” Your husband says amusedly, finding it adorable that your tendencies as a mother made its way into other moments.

“@/ynmywife says “Whoever casted Y/N as a Targaryen in the show, will have my therapy bills delivered to their house😭” and then there’s a crying emoji.” You then roll the paper and throw it in a basket below the table.

“First off, I’m her husband so she’s not your wife,” Matt points out, jokingly placing his arm around your shoulder to show off his ‘dominance’, “Secondly, I agree with that statement.”

“You don’t even go to therapy!” You exclaim, looking bewildered by his words.

“The point still stands, but seriously, how did being cast feel?” He turns the conversation around, trying to bring back some seriousness, his arms still placed around you.

“It was surreal. I actually hadn’t auditioned to be a Targaryen, but I guess my vibes were those.” You started your answer, “My agent called and said I got the role of Valenya Targaryen, I remember being so shocked but I accepted instantly because I knew the experience would be amazing, and it was!” 

“My story for being cast is much more boring compared to yours.” Matt murmurs, a small laugh leaving his lips as he reaches for the next paper in the bowl.

“I’m sure it's not.” You tell him, kissing his cheek.

“@/valyrianbiatch says “Are we gonna talk about how hot Daemon and Valenya look in those teaser pics???” with three question marks, it seems like they really want some answers.”

“We should talk about it more, tell us Matt, how does it feel to be married to such a hot person?” You teasingly say.

“It feels amazing.” Matt responds, as you make an “aw” sound that some of the crew backstage copies. He just places his hands in a way that is supposed to show you off, like he doesn’t need to further explain his answer.

“I think Daemon and Valenya exude this badass energy, which instantly makes them attractive to the eye.” Your words are slightly more serious, trying to actually get the interview somewhat correctly done. But you’re sure the fans will only concentrate on the more unserious bits.

“Plus they’re interpreted by stunning people, what’s not to like about that?”

“Exactly!” You exclaim, taking another paper from the bowl.

“@/dracaryss_ says “It feels illegal to watch HOTD knowing Matt and Y/N were casted as siblings!!” with two exclamation marks at the end.” You read out the paper, playing with it while thinking of a good answer.

“It’s definitely less weird now, the Targaryen family tree really is a circle of incestous people.” Matt answers jokingly.

“I feel like we’ve been in this job long enough to separate our actual lives from fiction, which I feel everyone should be able to do.” You say, looking at Matt after.

“That’s also very vital to the process, and they don’t really behave like siblings so most of the time it wasn’t as awkward.” He ends with a laugh, as you smile in return.

“The show may not be to everyone’s taste, so please be cautious while watching!” While you speak Matt reaches for another paper. 

“Let 's see… @/lannisterlions says “And when I faint from the beauty of the Targaryens? Then what?””

“I would recommend some water, some ibuprofen even.” You were being sarcastic, but your voice had a motherly edge to it which made Matt almost melt in his seat. 

“I fear they’ll be fainting a lot, they’re the stars of the show.”

“That too.” You agree, chuckling slightly.

You’ve already responded to a couple of tweets, some responses more serious than others in which you’ve just taken the piss out of their silly comments.

“I feel like I’ve answered tweets for a lifetime now.” You let out, your head resting on the shoulder of your husband, his arm wrapped around your waist. 

“I know I have.” Matt tells the camera, nodding slightly at his own words.

“It was very fun, though.” You add while smiling.

“We had a blast, thank you for all of the amazing tweets.”

“And don’t forget to tune in every sunday for a new episode of ‘House of the Dragon’ available on HBO.” You end, blowing some kisses to the camera as Matt waves his hand.

The video ends with Matt whispering something inaudible to your ears, making you throw your head back in laughter as the video fades to black.

Well that answers that question. But how did Dabi even know where his mother lived? Or that he even had a mother for that matter. Also it totally looks like his wings might be growing back which I'm low key sad about. I really liked the idea of him permanently losing his wings as bad karma for killing Twice but, I'm not gonna complain if he gets his wings back either.

In his defence, he's an old ass man that should have retired years ago like another certain hero

MORE TOUYA BUT HE'S IN PAIN. So your just gonna throw in the towel just like that. I get your going through a rough time and all but you're still the number one hero dude. More than half of the top heroes have either died, retired, or are unable to work rn. Plus it's your fault Touya even became a mass murderer. You gotta bring him in to the light. I still think he's to far gone for it to even do anything but at least he won't be able to kill anyone.

Three things about this panel.

Rei looks like a total badass being framed by her kids like that. And I am so glad she didn't have another breakdown and that they let her out of the hospital.

That whole "Oh Enji isn't that bad he brought flowers so that means he's changed" demeanour is gone and replaced with "I've got a million and one problems and you are all of them" one and I am here for it. And the fact that she's taking control of the situation. I just love all the energy she's giving off right now.

Enji looked like he aged 20yrs in the page before this but here it looks like Hori said "fuck it" and added another 30. It makes his reaction to Rei's I'm-that-bitch entrance even more hilarious.

It's been a really rough couple of weeks for me. My country now has community spread and the cases in locals are skyrocketing so our PM issued a lockdown so I'm stuck inside now. Plus school is really taking up a lot of my time.

I read all four chapters today, mostly cause I got sick of YouTube almost spoiling me every time I open the app. Ngl it's probably gonna be mostly reblogs after this.

you say stefan is intense as a good thing but damon is intense two and you do not bring that up because it is threatening to you because you know that he is a better intense. how is stefan being intense any better than damon? this is bias

this ask is exactly what i needed to take a break so thank you for that, let’s unpack this ask shall we?

1. damon is intense two and you do not bring that up because it is threatening to you

i mean, damon’s attempt at romantic and sexual “intensity” does indeed threaten my soul and doesn’t sit right with my spirit but that’s just because homeboy only has three modes and all three give me negative reactions.

1) he’s trying too hard and i get annoyed because he’s supposed to be this charismatic, sexual god of a man and he’s looking at women like

2) it’s creepy, he looks like he’s legit going to murder you

which I’ve mentioned quite a bit

3) he’s actually just dead in the face a lot of the time

like this is supposed to be blazing concern, a burning sincerity and that’s not being communicated, Ian’s eyes are just blue and he widens them to the gods

like, why is this intense? his eyebrows are just furrowed but there’s no energy coming from here

because you know that he is a better intense. how is stefan being intense any better than damon?

stefan is looking deeply into elena’s eyes and expressing something with his gaze, there is a legit smoulder happening

damon tries the smoulder in 1x19, for instance, and it’s all eyebrows, it looks like he’s more concerned with looking like he’s intense

whereas the 3x14 dance for instance, sure, stefan has the furrowed brow, but his attention is all on elena and he’s reacting to her

even his emotional scenes that you guys love so much

it’s never convincing that he’s feeling this deeply within himself whereas the sadness of not being with elena or trying to stay from elena looks like it’s weighing on stefan in 1x10

stefan has a conviction

that damon simply does not have because damon is trying for urgency and it just feels forced, it looks like he just wants to baby shake elena here so she gets the point

stefan communicates this is how i feel truly and i’m expressing that from deep within me

and he has shades of intensity, he’s soft here but you see in his eyes that he sincerely wants to make elena feel better and that sincerity is intense

this is like the best you got

and stefan/paul exceeds that regularly

yet conversely, when he needs to be intense as a badass vampire, it’s performative and strained and looks like “grrr i’m a scary vampire” and is in fact very corny

Ian just doesn’t have the gravitas someone like Damon is supposed to have especially in comparison to Paul because Paul has intensity

so something like this is supposed to be threatening

but it’s really only made threatening because Damon comes into the show murdering people, that’s his introduction before we actually see him but if it comes to exuding alone, how am I supposed to take this seriously when a few moments before, Stefan is like a legit statue because he is so angry

you do not bring that up

3Tangerines!Yoongi is my ideal tsundere I swear...hard shell SOFT inside LETS GET IT

He doesn’t have this needlessly gruff exterior, but he *does* seriously exude an aura/attitude that says he is downright rude or nasty with no remorse when provoked. He’s not just an asshole for no reason, this man has got a baseline vibe and anything that comes after that is a reflection of or a reaction to the surrounding energy. As a Pisces in love with tsundere I can happily claim this characterization is ON. POINT. 

MC thinks he’ll be brutally honest because that’s just how he is, but really she’s already inside his trust to a certain degree because of 3Tan!Bro, which means she’s close enough that already his instinct is to protect by whatever means necessary. He’d planned on being *just* honest, but then she immediately moved to a whole different zone of comfort/trust when she showed him vulnerability even while being terrified. I genuinely don’t believe he would have been able to be “brutal” with her even if he had thought she was bad in bed. Literally anyone else would get the full unfiltered rundown but even BEFORE they had sex Yoongi was ready to throw down for MC, so I don’t think she was ever at truly risk for hurt feelings. 

The man tried, ok? He probably tried to ignore a little crush on MC for a good while before she even showed up at his door looking like a wet dream, then after she did, if I remember correctly, they didn’t really chill for like a year! They kept the distance and did the things they were morally obligated to do after the bro-code goof of fucking your best friend’s little sister. There is S.T.R.E.N.G.T.H. in that. There’s circles within circles of feelings and trust with a character like this, and watching this little journey for both of them never once feels disingenuous or forced because they took the long way around by being as mature as they could about the situation. 

Praise kink boys that can’t admit it work HARD to earn their verbal rewards without having to tell on themselves…I see you Yoongi…I see you. 

The PINING and how he literally fights his own thought processes in order to maintain loyalty to his friend until he can’t even lie to himself anymore?? UGH!! TOP TIER!!

I might be biased (ha.) because I’m also Pisces but this character *really* is exactly everything I’ve ever imagined or wanted from a Tsundere. Even bro doesn’t get to see the same squishy center of Yoongi the way he allows MC to, and his little hints that turn into all-out statements reminding her that she’s part of a VERY SELECT FEW who get to see him like this–without being snarky or defensive about it because she’s doubting him or not reading him correctly just screams PATIENCE and FUCK if that isn’t hot as all hell.

This story is the best of *everything*. Badass Yoongi? Check. Soft for MC only? Check. SEES HER CONFIDENCE BUT ALSO WHEN SHE NEEDS GENTLE NUDGES TO ACTUALLY FEEL IT *FOR HERSELF*? Check. 

Basketball Yoongi. Tangerine Yoongi. Loyal as fuck even when he’s being a brat Yoongi. Silent caretaker Yoongi. Vocal Caretaker Yoongi. LOW-KEY SUBBY AF FOR CONFIDENT WOMEN YOONGI.

1. I am. The most happy that you think this because you’re absolutely right. He’s chill and laid back for the most part buttttt like. House Party? When his kicks were almost scuffed? Lmfaooooo you can just tell he was ready to destroy this man if he really wanted to.

2-3. Love love love the analysis here! It’s true that their dynamic was already different from the start. Reader really wasn’t just anyone, despite her thinking she’s virtually nothing and cannot be anything to Yoongi. And we already know that Yoongi said he’d be there for her regardless. So him grappling with this evolution of feelings is something else🥺 Yoongi was already soft for her from the beginning despite his hard and mysterious and intimidating exterior.

Have you watched Netflix’s Castlevania show before? Because if you haven’t, I feel like you would really dig it. More importantly, I need your opinion on how ridiculously similar Trevor and Sypha are to Soul and Maka. They have like the exact same relationship dynamic, it’s crazy. Trevor is this broody, cynical, snarky jerk with a heart of gold and he feels kind of crushed under the weight of his family name. *also his family was wealthy and famous* Sypha is this really kindhearted and couragous scholarly/academic type whose also a badass who takes no shit from anyone, and they fight demons/monsters together. They didn’t even like each other at first. She thought he was apathetic and rude and he kind of thought of her as an annoyingly stubborn know-it-all, but they end up growing to love and trust each other. Just look at these dorks and tell me they don’t exude SoMa energy

Like am I wrong?! My brain often tries to connect stuff I’m watching to SoMa in some way, but I feel like this one is actually justified. I kinda feel really compelled to write a Soul Eater Castlevania au sometime. Also: I’m stoked to see whatever project your working on that you previewed when you posted those screensavers of Soul drowning. It looked really neat.

more spop not!fic that actually turns into fic bc i am trash

I will preface this entirely-too-long post by saying I’ve read very, very little spop fanfic, and the few I’ve read since s5 dropped are all Catradora oneshots that are, um, a little hyperfocused. (Read: Y’all really have some Ideas about how a sword lesbian and a cat lesbian have The Sex, don’tcha.) So it’s entirely probably that the scenario I’m imagining here has been done before, possibly a lot, and likely better than how I’ve imagined it. This is me, 15 minutes late with Starbucks.

But can you imagine how hard it would be for Catra to integrate into the Princess Alliance? I mean, the show depicts the BFS adopting her pretty much immediately with, like, zero hesitations over their past history with her (a few sarcastic one-liners tossed here and there don’t count as processing, imho). But the kingdom at large? Not to mention the other kingdoms? Catra was the face of the invasion for such a long time. She had a specific angle to take out She-Ra, the ubiquitously-loved and lauded hero of Etheria. Yes, she helped save the planet/universe from Horde Prime, but once the banners and balloons come down, there’s still a reckoning to be had.

Mermista alternately pokes fun at Catra for being afraid of water, and takes any opportunity to “accidentally” splash her

Netossa brings a squirt bottle to any meeting where Catra is invited, and offers at some point to make Adora a magic leash for her

Frosta doesn’t particularly say or do anything, but she makes extra sure to exude icy menace in Catra’s direction. Okay, one time she maybe accidentally zings Catra during iceball, but everyone else thought it was funny!

Out of respect for Scorpia’s friendship with Catra, Perfuma doesn’t stoop to playing pranks, but she does pointedly remark on how muddled Catra’s chi is, a lot. Sometimes in the middle of a meeting, if Catra is arguing with someone, Perfuma will airily announce to the whole room that negative energy is starting to interfere with their goals again, and it looks like she’ll have to sage the meeting room again. After which Catra usually just gives up and sulks in silence

Micah is fairly neutral on the subject of Catra, considering she’s part of his daughter’s “best friend squad” and is also dating She-Ra, Princess of Power, demigod of the wind and sea, vanquisher of Horde Prime, hero of Etheria. But he does get moody sometimes looking at the mural of Angella, and a couple of times he’ll go Dad Mode and tell Glimmer she reminds him of her mother, but then he’ll glance at Catra and change the subject.

And like, Catra gets it, okay? She fucked up. She was the bad guy. And these people are princesses. If there’s anything Catra knows is true, it’s that princesses are champions at Not Letting It Go. So she mostly just lets it roll off her shoulders. (Okay, yes, sometimes she goads them, and yes, she should keep her mouth shut more instead of trading barbs, but what do you want from her? Being catty is her thing.) After all, she got her happily ever after. She got Adora. And that’s really all that she cares about. So a couple of whiny, poofy, pastel-wearing bimbos wanna take cheap shots at her? Ha. Catra wrote the book on petty. She grew up in the Horde. Let ‘em do their worst. 

Except Adora gets Big Mad about it.

I imagine Adora not only notices how the other princesses act around Catra, she sees Catra doing her best to ignore it. Melog is a pretty good indicator of Catra’s temper, and so it’s clear that the hazing irritates the shit out of Catra, but true to her word, she’s been working on her anger, so aside from sarcasm the worst anyone gets out of a her is a scowl, a flicking tail and ears, and Melog’s brief display of red-tinged spines and growling. 

So Adora is proud, seriously! Catra has come a long way from where she was in the Horde. But Adora, the OG “Punch Your Feelings Out Guy”, wants to remind the other princesses that Catra’s not the only one who changed sides.

Naturally, she does this by losing her temper and shouting them down during another all-princess meeting where everyone is subtly picking on Catra.

“What is your problem? Catra’s on our side now! Why are you all still acting like this?”

Mermista, never one to back down from a verbal slap-fest, gamely engages. “Um, not everyone thinks that just because Catra made, like, one good choice, she gets a free pass on all her other ones.”

“Forgiveness is a process, Adora,” says Perfuma primly, ignoring the glare Adora sends her way. “You can’t expect everyone to accept Catra immediately. We need time to work through our negative associations with Catra so that we can begin the healing process.”

Catra rolls her eyes, but Adora throws her hands in the air. “Immediately? It’s been months! And you’re not working through anything! You’re bullying her!”

At this point, Catra is almost offended at all this implies. “Uh, excuse me, no one bullies me, okay. I can take anything they throw at me.”

“Ha, that’s funny,” says Netossa sweetly. “Because that’s not what you say anytime I have this in my hand!” She brandishes the squirt bottle, and Catra’s ears flatten but she keeps herself from flinching.

Adora slaps the table. “See! Bullying!”

“Adora, calm down,” says Glimmer, sighing with a hand over her eyes. At her side, Bow splays both hands in a gesture that simultaneously tries to placate everyone.

“Okay, look, everyone,” he says. “A couple of jokes are one thing, but Adora’s got a point. It’s going a little too far.”

“Oh? Was it also going a little too far when Catra wrecked my castle and destroyed Princess Prom?” says Frosta, crossing her arms.

“Or when she decimated the Whispering Woods?” adds Perfuma.

“Or when she attacked my kingdom?” Mermista, chin on fist, rolls her eyes. “And, you know, stole it for a while.”

“Or when she sent Entrapta to Beast Island?” Perfuma turns to put a hand on Entrapta’s shoulder, but Entrapta’s eyes have gone starry.

“Oooh, I liked Beast Island! The tech there was superb! Maybe I can go back with all the resources at my disposal, now that I’m not an exiled prisoner anymore, and see if I can finally succeed in reversing the polarity of the--”

“See,” says Perfuma hastily, “she was exiled and a prisoner! With no, um, resources!”

“Look, Adora, it’s great that you and Catra are happy together,” says Frosta, with the deadpan expression of a fourteen-year-old who does not mean a single thing she says. “But I still don’t like her.”

“My heart breaks,” mutters Catra, but Adora leans over the table, eyes closing in a bid for patience.

“I’m not asking anyone to like her. I’m just saying, stop bullying her.”

“Uh, again, I’m not--”

Adora spears Catra with a single look, and Catra subsides, a little stunned at the turbulence in her girlfriend’s eyes.

“It’s mean,” Adora goes on, “and it’s pointless, since Catra is on our side now. I know there’s history there, but we are in the process of rebuilding Etheria and creating an example to show the other worlds we’re trying to reach. So just--chill, okay?”

A moment of silence greets this declaration. Then Frosta looks away with a snort.

“I’ll show her some chill,” she mutters.

Catra desperately wants to roll her eyes. “Give it a rest, kid.”

Frosta shoots to her feet, a layer of ice sheeting the table under her hands. “Don’t talk down to me, Horde scum!”

Melog leaps onto the table, its mane blazing so deep a red it’s nearly black. Chaos erupts as various shouts of “Melog, no!” and “Watch out!” tangle in the air. Catra rises from her seat, alarmed that Frosta is about to ice-punch her alien cat, when thunder cracks and a deep, throaty voice shouts, “Enough!”

She-Ra stands in battle stance, glowering at the room’s occupants, light pouring off her. The sword is held in a neutral rest position in her hand, though every inch of her (and there’s a lot of them) seems to be vibrating with energy.

Catra clears her throat as Melog instantly goes liquid-blue and pounces to She-Ra’s side, curling around and around her legs with undisguised adoration.

Melog, it seems, has no concept of chill.

The princesses all resume their seats, staring at the beast they’d been seconds from attacking as it practically rolls on the ground at She-Ra’s feet. Their eyes go from She-Ra to Melog to Catra, who expertly pretends to be unaffected and unblushing.

“Catra is not a threat,” says She-Ra in that voice, and Melog agrees blissfully, rubbing its head against her hip. Catra opens her mouth to protest, but sighs and shuts up. No point in protesting that you’re a badass when your psychic mood-ring therapy cat goes belly-up anytime your hot warrior girlfriend looks at you.

“Catra deserves another chance. She’s already proven herself by helping us defeat Prime.” She-Ra lays a single hand on Melog’s head. Catra wants to bury her face in her hands at the sound the alien cat makes.

“But how can we trust her when she used to fight for the Horde!” protests Frosta.

“So did I,” says She-Ra quietly, and it’s like all the air gets sucked out the room.

“So did Entrapta and Scorpia--” Perfuma’s eyes drop to the table at this. “--and you, Mermista--” Mermista sighs, but doesn’t argue. “and Spinnerella--” Even though She-Ra’s voice is gentle, Spinnerella’s eyes still well with tears, and Netossa tries to glare while she comforts her wife, but even she looks guilty. “--and King Micah, and Shadow Weaver--” Even though Glimmer wasn’t one of the princesses giving Catra shit, she still winces and leans closer to Bow. “And we gave every single one of them a second chance before the war was even ended. What makes Catra different from them?”

“She wasn’t mind-controlled!” argues Frosta.

“Yes, she was!” shoots back She-Ra, and Catra can’t help the flinch, the instinct to reach back and rub her neck. Her hair is just starting to be long enough to cover the faint scar of the implant.

“Okay, for like, a second, but even before Horde Prime, Catra was--”

“Catra and I were both abused and manipulated by Shadow Weaver.” There’s a thread of pain in She-Ra’s voice now. “From the time we were infants. We never stood a chance against her.”

“But you escaped,” says Perfuma, almost as a question. “You changed your mind about the Horde, and you left.”

Catra stares at the table. She can feel She-Ra’s eyes glance toward her. Melog gives a solemn mrow of comfort, pulsing aqua-blue. Without warning, light flares again and Adora is standing at Catra’s side, hands empty.

“If I hadn’t found the sword in the Whispering Woods, it would have been me marching on your kingdoms,” says Adora, and everyone shuffles uncomfortably. “I was chosen to be Force Captain just a couple hours before. It was dumb luck that I fell off that skiff and landed where I did.”

“It was destiny,” argues Perfuma. “You were chosen to be She-Ra! You would have found the sword at some point!”

“By that point, would it have mattered?” Adora’s hand strokes Melog’s ears. Catra swears she can feel the ghost of those fingers on her own head. “I wouldn’t have had Bow and Glimmer to show me what the Horde was really doing. I would have had Shadow Weaver and Hordak reinforcing my training.”

“You would have found a way to become She-Ra,” says Perfuma earnestly. “The universe would have aligned somehow--”

“And whose kingdom would have already fallen to the Horde by the time that happened?” Adora lifts her hands helplessly. “Don’t you get it? If I hadn’t discovered I was She-Ra, I would have become Catra.”

They stare at her, apparently never having put the dots together before. Catra, who has always been smarter than these princesses, leans back in her chair.

“Maybe,” she says, smirking up at her girlfriend. “But I wore it better.”

aslfja;lskdjfl;a this is already too long and it half-morphed into fic, so I’ll just summarize by saying everyone is a little sorry that they’ve been bullying Catra, and Catra refuses to admit she’s been bullied because of course she does, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t hugely touched and grateful that for once Adora fought to protect her from her princess friends. The Alliance goes forward with the intent of trying to behave better towards Catra. It helps that they saw Melog turn into a jello-mold as soon as She-Ra appeared, so they have proof positive that Catra is indeed not a threat and is in fact secretly a jello mold herself. The bullying turns into heckling whenever Catra and Adora goo-goo-eye each other. Which is a lot. Frosta makes an ice sculpture of Catra swooning into Adora’s arms (her art skills mysteriously improve enough to clearly depict Catra with heart eyes and Adora with bulging biceps). Perfuma decorates it with flowers. Netossa puts a forcefield net around it so Catra can’t destroy it. Catra sulks and Adora flexes her muscles to make her feel better. the end???

bonus line I couldn’t figure out how to incorporate: “Uh, Entrapta has two Hordaks and I don’t see anyone giving her crap about them!”

Your head is pounding with a headache as you come to. Mentally checking your body, you already expected to be bound to a chair. The air was damp and cold and smelled of death.

“Y/N.” Your body tenses instinctually at the low commanding male voice.

“I know you’re awake.” You lift your head up slowly, squinting in the barely lit room. A man with perfectly combed back blond hair, dressed in a finely tailored suit, with dress shoes so well polished even in this bad lighting they shine, sits a couple feet in front of you in a much more comfortable looking chair than yours, lazily playing with the multiple rings on his fingers. His gaze finds yours and your breath catches. A gaze so cold that makes your spine shiver, so void of emotions, exuding so much confidence, so much power.

“Hwarang.” You stiffen at the forbidden word. Your breathing quickens and you feel like you’re about to vomit.

“Park. Seo.”

“STOP! Don’t! Don’t say it.Don't say his name” You scream, your voice trailing into a barely audible whisper.

Eternity passes. You lick your dry lips, slumping against the chair, any energy left in your body gone. “What do you want from me.”

“Good girl Y/N. I guess your father did train you very well. He hid you very well you know. An you would have been left unfound if all of this didn’t happen.” He sits up, placing his elbows on his thighs, hands entwined under his chin. “How rude of me not to introduce myself. I’m RM.” His eyes searching yours as recognition of the name dawns on you. “Leader of Bangtan.” The leader of the largest mafia in control of the city for years now.

“What a good little girl Y/N! Yes, you are correct. Leader of Bangtan, sitting across from Hwarang’s princess. Who would have thought?” His dark chuckles echos off the damp walls, taunting you further. You grit your teeth at the pet name you loathe. “What do you want, RM.”

“I want to offer you a deal. Work for me.”

“What’s in it for me. I don’t really see a deal here.”

“Work for me, and I’ll give you what you’re due. You can do what you love. I know you miss the shadows baby. I’ll make sure you’ll have a blast with us. I’m offering you the chance to do what you were raised to do. It’s in your blood.”

Your blood is boiling. You hate it. You hate all of it, every word that spilled out of his mouth. You hate what you felt when you couldn’t rip the burglar into shreds yourself. You hate how you loved the feel of your body making Redhead bleed and bend over in pain. You hate how you spit and smile and say, “deal.”

“Welcome to the team!” Dr. Kim hands you a bag of ice as you walk up the stairs back up into where you had the little spat. You thank him timidly as you take the bag of ice and hold it to the back of your head. “Everyone. Meeting in 5.” RM leads the way to his office while you trail behind him, taking in your new home. A spacious living room with comfy looking couches is situated across a beautiful modern kitchen, and to the right of the kitchen you manage to spot the dining room. The stairs lead to a long hallway with multiple doors that are all closed. You assume that they are the sleeping quarters for the guys, as well as RM’s office.

 He opens the only grand double wooden doors on this floor and leads you inside to his office. He points to the couch, where you quietly situate yourself, nursing your throbbing head. RM sits himself behind his desk, as the boys file in. Dr. Kim comes in first, flashing you a wink as he takes his seat to the left of RM. Redhead and Suit guy come in next and sit next to the doctor, followed by a boy who looks much too young to be in this profession. He gives you a shy bunny looking smile before taking a seat next to Suit guy, followed by a guy who literally is dancing his way into the room. His brown locks with blond highlights bounce with his fluid movements as he gives you a wide smile and dances into his seat next to Bunny. Lastly, a pale, scrawny looking guy with mint hair looking like he would rather be in bed than here shuffles to his seat on the right of RM, completing the circle. The couch you're sitting on isn't part of the circle, but the seats were maneuvered slightly so that you were somewhat in between Dr. Kim and Redhead.

RM clears his throat and instantaneously the room falls quiet. “A little introduction is due for our newest member.” He glances you way before continuing. “As you know, I am the leader of Bangtan. I go by RM, or Kim Namjoon in this house. This.” He makes a gesture towards Dr. Kim. “Is my right hand man Kim Seokjin, also known as H during missions. He’s the face of the Kim Enterprises which Bangtan uses as a cover, handles the press and police authorities when things get.. messy, and also the strategist. Next we’ve got V, or Taehyung who specializes in arson. He’s a little insane, but that’s how we like it here. Especially when interrogating people. Then we have Jimin or M, our top assassin. He’s your guy if you want someone dead, or to disappear. He gets his way, always.” Jimin flashes you the most charming smile your eyes have ever been graced with before he sits back in his seat, face serious. “JK, or Jungkook is our muscle. His looks might be deceiving but that works in his favor when his fist meets your face when your guard is down. In a pinch, he’s your guy. Next we have Hoseok, or Hope. He knows every gun or weapon on this planet and how to use it. He’s all sunshine and guns. He knows all the in’s and out’s of underground dealing. You need something, he knows where to get it.” Hoseok gives you the piece sign with a matching bright smile. “Lastly, we have Yoongi or Suga. He’s our top hacker and intelligence gatherer. No secret is safe from him. Now. Y/N, care to say a few words about yourself?” The entire room’s attention turns to you.

You gulp before you awkwardly remove the ice from your head and onto your lap. “H-Hi. I’m Y/N. I’m a pharmacist.” Not sure where to go next, Namjoon speaks up again. “You may or may not know her. She’s the daughter of-“ you tense up again, squeezing your eyes shut to brace yourself to hear the name you despise. Namjoon notices. “She’s the hidden princess of Hwarang.” Curious eyes filled with shock take a closer look at you. You let your held breath out, but wince at the petname. “Y/N, also known as Poison, will play an essential role in using her knowledge to our benefit to allow us to better capture our targets. We have a few days off, take this time to familiarize with each other, work with each other. Dismissed.” Namjoon looks down at his paperwork, signalling he’s no longer interested in us being in his office. The boys shuffle out and you’re the last to follow, throwing one last glance as Namjoon, who never once looks up as you close the double doors.

Your mind is reeling before Hoseok’s face pops in front of yours. “Y/N! I’ll show you your room!” He’s hopping from foot to foot as he leads you down the hallway. “I’m so excited that you joined the team! I didn’t know how it would go at first, but I think you made the best choice! I can’t wait to see you in action!” He rambles on as you follow slightly behind him. He stops suddenly, and spins around to face you. “You can call me Hobi if you want, everyone calls me that here! This is your room! I’m next door, and the other neightbor is-“ Hobi is pointing at the other door when it opens and you see Jungkook. He stares at you before he comes to his senses and slams the door closed as he jumps back into his room. “He’s….a little shy around women. Don’t worry, I’m sure he’ll come around soon. I’m so excited to finally have a badass chick to work with! It’s just been full of guys and it get’s really testosterone-y ya know? Anyway, it’s been a long day, I’ll leave you to it. Goodnight Y/N!” Hobi waves at you even though you’re in such close proximity as he heads into his room next to yours.

You cautiously open the door and walk into what is now your room. The room is decently sized, with a comfortable looking bed with simple sheets, a set of wooden drawers for clothes, and an en suite bathroom, in which you spot a bathroom as well as a shower. Without a second thought, you strip and fill the tub with water and finally, finally, you enjoy that bath that you’ve yearned for.

rose is just so random and funny sometimes which is honestly just like hyunjae to a tee, they’re just so like each other in a way! i get the feeling that rose may be a little unsure of herself sometimes ( which she shouldn’t ) and i think hyunjae would be a great fit because he would definitely be able to help her become more confident while she can probably teach him to be a little less tough and be more vulnerable to his own feelings.

anna is an extremely bright and outgoing person from what i can tell from our conversations. i think that would complement well with hyunjae’s loud and larger than life personality and they would a 100% be that couple that everyone just asks to tone it down but secretly love having them around because they’re just so intriguing and fun to have around 💫

Just comparing two cartoons I love

I understand that nobody asked in any capacity, but here I go anyway:

It feels fair to compare Ducktales 2017 to Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2018), not only because they're only about a year apart and truly, what is a year, but also because they

1. Both use this style that looks like it jumped straight out of a comic book. Okay, it's mostly the solidly inked shadows, but it gives me, personally, comic-y vibes.

2. They have taken what's arguably the main characters (the triplets for DT, the Turtles for TMNT) and shaken the formula up a good bit. Were the triplets formerly indistinguishable and all had the exact same personality, interests and voice actor, they are now three entirely separate entities with different traits and appearances. And while the turtles had about one defining personality trait and looked basically the same, save for the color of their masks, Rise made them different species of turtle to justify giving them radically different designs and three-dimensional personalities. Both shows faced criticism for this decision from people who cannot deal with change. Despite this, in both cases, it just works and does so incredibly well.

3. The oldest bros wear red.

4. We have two middle bros associated with the color blue who are both voiced by Ben Schwartz.

5. Both shows have a focus on family, with Ducktales especially focusing on found family and Rise on brotherhood.

6. Anime references!

Ducktales has a larger cast overall, with a lot of different characters all interacting with each other and they all have the most pleasant voices I've ever heard in my entire life. It's all solidly animated, the style is consistent and the animation is fluid, the characters are diverse and they're all lovely in their own right, except for those who aren't. The writing is top notch. Everyone feels consistent despite the large cast and it's delightful to watch all those interesting people interact with each other in their own way. The show also handles its mystery elements and occasional action scenes incredibly well, building suspense and delivering laughs and gut punches without hesitation. They juggle different tones like a professional clown, except the true clown was us, the audience, all along, for ever having doubted them.

The overarching plot of Ducktales, for its first two seasons, was mostly to uncover the mystery of what had happened to the mother of the triplets and all that would entail. Mystery and mythical elements will likely continue to be afoot for season 3.

Rise works with less focal characters, we have the Turtles, Splinter and April as well as various bad guys, but more than makes up for it with a lot of animation. A lot a lot of animation and it's all high quality. There's usually so much going on on-screen that a watching it once isn't enough to catch it all. Despite that, it doesn't feel crowded or rushed. Lots of dynamic shots and incredibly-choreographed action scenes, but nothing the thoroughly solid writing has to hide behind. Even when the baddies aren't the main concern, they're still well-rounded, interesting characters with unique abilities and motivations. Although, most of the mutants are just really feral. Still a delightfully diverse cast.

The turtles on the other hand spent their first season trying to foil their various foes, from a yokai trying to mutate all of humanity, to his mutants, to dealing with random mythical stuff, to the nefarious Foot Clan trying to reassemble the Dark Armor in the shadows. It's generally a more action-driven show, but they still find the time for some heartfelt moments.

The triplets 2.0

Despite their conventiently color-coded caps, they were really mostly the same character possessing three different bodies at a time. Well, the times of eerie The Shining like-twins, except extended to triplets, are over!

We have Huey, the oldest brother, voiced by Danny Pudi. He's a gentle, intellectual soul who values red hats, science, scout badges and checklists. Huey is arguably the closest in characterization to the original triplets, with some additional neat freak sprinkled in for flavor. He tries to be the responsible older sibling and keep his brothers under control and out of trouble. He also seems to have the most fiery temper of the bunch and should clearly not be pressed to the breaking point. He's my personal favorite and I heard season 3 will bring more focus to him, which makes me elated to hear. 888/10.

Middle child Dewey, the blue one, voiced by Ben Schwartz, who will inevitably come for all the iconic blue characters. He's very clearly the middle one, because he craves attention and validation and occasionally dreams of being an only child. Dewey is the one who started the investigation into their mom's disappearance and kept it from his brothers, partially to save them from hurt, but also because he wanted to feel special. He's the most interested in going on adventures with their uncle, but can get reckless when doing so. He's a bit of a spotlight hog, who has his own talk show that nobody watches and sings his own theme song when he needs to get hyped up, or just to fill this silence. This may sound kind of negative, but rest assured, he's a good, sweet boy. The focal triplet for the first season. 500/10.

Louie, the evil triplet, a schemer and a conman. Voiced by Bobby Moynihan.  The youngest of the bunch. While they call him evil, he's really far too lazy to cause serious harm, except for when it's his laziness that's causing him to take dangerous shortcuts, oops. He dreams of making a fortune, but without having to work for it and preferably without any responsibility either, thank you. He also occasionally dreams of being a spoiled fat cat. Despite his chill demeanor, he can be a bit of a crybaby and those tears are only fake 50% of the time. I feel like he likes getting babied, but mainly because that means there's less work for him to do. Season 2, which focuses more on him, reveals that he's actually quite brilliant, capable of seeing all the angles and giving him some chessmaster-like qualities. He needs to learn to use those abilities for good. 665/10.

Hi, she's Webbie! The honorary triplet, who also got a massive makeover, from annoying token girl tagalong to socially awkward, adorkable action girl. Be careful who you call ugly in middle school, indeed. Like a more ferocious  Mabel Pines, she has a grappling hook and years of martial arts training under her belt. Webbie can absolutely decimate you, but won't, because she's a sweet girl. Voiced by Kate Micucci. She continues to like unicorns and the color pink, but assuredly in the most badass of ways. She helped Dewey with his quest to uncover the mystery of his missing mom, but works well with all of the triplets, with Huey taking her under his wing a bit and Louie trying to get her to chill out more. Webbie is a sweetheart and I would die for her, were it not completely unnecessary, since she's more than capable of taking care of herself. ∞/10.

A lot of the supporting cast also saw updates and changes, for instance Gyro being a genius without social skills and Fenton being an adorkable scientist, but again, they work really well. They're interesting new takes on beloved characters. Even the new additions to the cast are great. In short, I love me some birds and am excited for season 3, Disney, get your scheduling together.

The Turtles 2.14.2 - I upgraded my upgrade in the middle of the upgrade

Also, these guys have seen so many different iterations in their, what, 30+ years of existence. As someone with no prior attachment to the turtle brand, I don't have a lot to say here. Leo's not the leader in this one and Raph has more personality than being angry at Leo for being the leader. Donnie is not just a random nerd spouting technobabble and Mikey has more depth than yelling the catchphrase every now and again. Apparently, this made people upset. I don't know how to help you with that.  The middle brothers exude some high chaotic energy and should not be left unsupervised, but the oldest and youngest seem fairly stable.

Raphael, the red-bandana'd alligator snapping turtle is an imposing figure. He's the oldest and therefore team leader by default. Raph has no reason to be upset at Leo, so he isn't. Despite his ferocious appearance, he's a soft guy, who likes teddies and doting on his brothers, but fears puppets. He's a bit of a knucklehead, most of his plans involve smashing things with his tonfa and he may refer to himself in the third person in the heat of the moment, but he possesses emotional intelligence, is open about his feelings and looks after his brothers. He is big and and strong, but his heart is bigger and stronger. He especially loves small animals animals, who don't usually return his feelings. RIP in F. This responsible guy is voiced by Omar Benson Miller. 300/10, very soft. Somehow both the heart and the big guy of the group.

Donatello has been upgraded from second-to-youngest to second-to-oldest, not that it makes much of a difference. His color of choice is purple and he continues in the character's tradition of being a nerd, although this time, with self-confidence. Donnie is very sure of himself and his abilities. As a spiny soft-shell turtle, he's less sure of his shell, but that's okay, he's made robotic battle shells to make up for it and his bō is the mother of all multitools. This guy can build you a tank out of a buggie and upgrade your animatronic into something to give the FNAF franchise a run for its money. He's the smartest of the four and when not focused on his phone, very focused on the mission. Due to having to deal with his bros, he can be exasperated a lot. Thinks of himself as an emotionally unavailable bad boy, even though he's just really sensitive and wants his dad or someone parent-aged to tell him they're proud of him. Theater kid. 999/10, give the middle child a hug and some coffee, you can't tell me he has a healthy sleep cycle. This sarcastic nerd is brought to you by Josh Brener.

Leonardo, Ben Schwartz's second blue character (Sonic (2020) being the third under his belt) and also his second ninja after Randy Cunningham. He's not the leader. He's still a good character. Leo has approximately 800 charisma and unwavering faith in both, his family and himself. Mostly himself though. Like Louie, season 2 revealed that he is a master of prediction and playing people like the cheap kazoo you can't tell me he doesn't have to play Darude's Sandstorm on. He dabs, he boards, he will pun you to death and back and he has an Odachi that can cut through space. Leo likes hogging the spotlight when given the chance and wants to be showered with attention and praise. Having four kids really only means twice the middle child nonsense. Leo is a red-eared slider, the original species of the TMNT, as I've been told. He's also the best at being a ninja, but usually too lazy to really apply himself. He's younger than Donnie, but tumblr suggested to read the two as twins, since they're approximately the same age, which sheds a whole new light on their dynamic and frankly, makes way too much sense. 420/10, for our memelord Leonardo.

Michelangelo, the eternally youngest of the bunch. An artiste, who puts stickers on himself, tags the lair, has a spiritual connection to his skateboard and the color orange. Mikey loves all things arts and craft, but he also tries his hands at cooking. He idolizes famous TV chefs and can do pretty much anything out of and into pizza. He's funny, without being annoying, like I feel a lot of other iterations of this character are. It's an easy pitfall for comic relief guys, but this one is more than that. If that's an issue, feel free to leave my house. Mikey is genuinely sweet and happy, optimistic and soft, but also the one brother who knows when it's time to take off the gloves and just get straight to the point. He's open about and in touch with his feelings. He's just baby. Don't treat him as one though. A lot of promo stuff says Leo has taken him under his wing, but he's had more episodes together with Donnie. Not that I'm complaining, they work very well together. Mikey and Raph are both the emotional centers of the group. Does not mind being yeeted after retracting into his shell, as box turtles may do. (Disclaimer, do not yeet actual box turtles!) His weapon of choice is a Kusari-Fundo that can turn into a fire-demon and is about as unpredictable as he is. Likes to jump and bounce around. Probably does parkour. Voiced by Brandon Mychal Smith who is audibly having a blast. 500/10, just an all around Kusari-fun guy.

For last, but certainly not least, April O'Neil, my girl, who saw an upgrade from flip-flopping love interest who was vaguely ninja-ing, but mostly damsel in distress-ing, to all-around spunky powerhouse and by God, she is glowing. Rise has her more as a big sister figure to the turtles, and I will not be told otherwise. She is independent and don't need no man, mutant or no. She has her teleporting pet, her faith in herself, her pinpoint baseball hitting skills and the a complete and utter lack of fear. Despite being a weirdness magnet, April is perfectly comfortable. She would like to be able to keep a job, maybe, but she has loving friends who respect and love her. Surprisingly good a ninja, fearless and fun. Occasionally thinks about being popular at school, but it's really not a big concern, she's not gonna throw a tantrum over it or anything. April is very chill. Not likely to be damseled. More likely to run after the turtles and clean up their messes or save them and everyone involved is fine with that.

The late 10's are really coming in to show us how dynamic and well-written female characters that aren't just "strong", but three-dimensional and relatable are done, huh?

Here we have it, two older properties, having new life breathed into them to make them fresh and enjoyable. Have a new spin put on them, to better fit in with our current world. You can feel the love oozing out of every frame. At the end of the day, of course, it all boils down to taste and whether or not you like something. I gave Ducktales 2017 a go because a lot of the staff from Gravity Falls went to work on it and if you don't know me, I love me some Gravity Falls. It's a good show and I enjoy it. I recently got into Rise and while I don't know much about the people working on it, it is also a greatly enjoyable show, easily on the same level as Ducktales, if not above, yet with far less people speaking about it. Which is frankly saddening. I can only recommend the two of them wholeheartedly. If you love animation, yourself and occasionally feeling things, these are for you!

10 Character's I Would Love To Kiss

I was tagged  by @kingdomheartstrash​ and I’m starting fresh solely because ten characters is a lot.

I’m just gunna go off, no particular order. and don’t get me wrong - I have way more than 10 fictional crushes. and i may bend the rules and change this to fictional characters I just stan because... Well... Cuz.

1. Mayor Hancock - this Anarchist loving ghoul stole my heart first with murder, then with his absolute fucking power moves - I mean have you seen him YEET an entire fucking person over his shoulder then blast them with a fucking shotgun? Sexy. But also he’s fucking off the charts intelligent. And he’s so fucking sweet. Oh my God his dialogue makes me swoon. I’d kiss him er’rywhere.

2. Levi Ackerman. I have a thing for feral madmen who could murder everyone in this room and me, but also have very little regard for their own lives while holding everyone around them close to their hearts. Softies with a hard outer shell. And a massive amount of terrifying power. Kiss 11/10

3. Shizuru Kuwabara. One of my very first fictional crushes. I’m still trying to figure out how many of the fictional girl characters I wanted to be like were actually my fictional crushes, but she absolutely was one of them. A hard ass that knew more than she let on, heart of gold. Tragic and strong. There’s a theme here. KISSSSSSSSS

4. Sesshomaru. I always loved this feral bastard. Even more with that whole ‘I don’t really love Rin but I’d die to protect her’ Bullshit. Fucking ain’t fooling anyone you flamboyant dumbass dad. Going around adopting all these kids. Idiot. Like, maybe a forehead kiss? Or a punch in the arm.

5. Double Trouble. Fuck. Just... THEM. Their energy, the way they present themselves, they power they exude. The way they gather information and play people. Hell. Yes. I want to hug them and tell them how proud I am.

6. Inosuke Hashibira. Feral. Strong. Like, seriously. How fucking powerful do you have to be to contend with some of the top demon slayers after being raised totally alone just for fucking fun? To be fair I don’t read the manga so I don’t know the other characters too well (mohawk dude also seems like he’d be a favorite based off the two short encounters in anime cuz... fuck me I guess. I also love the main villain too). Little Fluffy Kisses All Over His Stupid Face.

7. Yata Misaki. This dumbass mother fucker. I love Homra and will get a tattoo one day. FUCKING I WILL. Kiss that Bat/Skateboard.

8. Sailor Jupiter. I love her. I love her. I. Love. HER. LOOOOOVVVEEEE HHHEEERRR. She is beauty and she is grace and she is MOTHER FUCKING LIGHTNING! Kiss her all over, everywhere.

9. Ayame Sohma. I have to add him to the list. i can’t help it. I adored him in the manga, I adored him in the first anime, and now I adore him in the remake. Maybe it’s just snakes banding together... maybe it’s just me directing my lust to him as commanded (haha). I’d absolutely kiss this fucker straight on the mouth at least once.

10. Senji Kiyomasa. Immediately my favorite in this show. OP, badass. Uncouth and rude with a tragic backstory and a huge heart. Absolute fucking softie. I’d kiss him. Hands fucking down.

quintessence-sentimentalist Takes on 30 Days of W.i.t.c.h.versary!: Week One

So I’ve been way too swamped as of late to keep up with this challenge day-by-day, even with only written answers (because guys, I write long answers, even when I cut myself short). As a solution (at least to start), I’m going to lump my answers for days falling within the same week together. Here’s Days 1 through 7!

Day 1: Favorite Guardian

Well, glancing up at my username and icon, I think it’d be remiss not to say Will Vandom, at least in some respect.

Will was my favorite from the beginning, back when I only had the chapter books with comic inserts. I can’t quite put my finger on why I gravitated to her, though I get the feeling that my love of energy/electricity-based powers had something to do with it. Plus, she got the cool transformation trinket! I’m sure there are many, many more reasons why she became my favorite, but this was also a good 15 years ago and even my obscure-detail-focused memory is having a hard time tracing back.

I’m not as passionate about comics Will as an adult, just in terms of how they loaded the poor girl up with so much drama that it’s just overwhelmingly exhausting, and she has some pretty immature reactions to her problems with her mom and Matt (pre-relationship). But animated Will is still my girl, with her awkwardness and quipping (of a different sort than Irma’s) and the way she grows as a leader, to the point where she’s basically set up a long con on even the viewers as a battle strategy in the latter quarter of season 2. This was the Will I grew to love as an adult rewatching the series after many years.

Since I’ve always been a Will Girl in some form, this has to be my official answer, but very honorable mentions to Irma and Hay Lin across both media. 

Day 2: Favorite Villain

Alright, if we’re talking the animated series and you aren’t new around these parts, we all know it’s Shagon. Listen, this arc is 90% of the reason why I love the cartoon as much as I do, because they took a character from the comics with a nebulous backstory and a spooky, badass design who was relatively underused even with being Nerissa’s strongest/preferred minion, and decided to pull out all the stops. They gave a recurring character (who, okay, I already loved) with very strong ties to the girls - and who’d already evolved out of his role in the comics at the time - his own challenge/story arc about literally facing his inner demon; they gave the Guardians a deadly enemy to face off against (distract them) while Nerissa is off plucking up ex-Guardians one by one; they gave Will and Matt some brutal emotional turmoil that’s actually new and refreshing for the two of them (let’s send the repeated comics jealousy plotlines back to the kitchen, yeah?). And, uh, they made an already spooky, badass character design EVEN SPOOKIER AND MORE BADASS. 

(The darker colors all around? The brilliant gold mask? The dark angel wings? I have been in love with this design since I was 12, alright?)

But! If we’re talking comics, then I’m going with Yua. I’ve talked about this at length before in a different ask game, but I think I gravitate to Yua because a) I’m largely not about full-on villains in any media and b) she’s a beautifully complex character in the context of the third arc’s narrative. 

I’m not going to reiterate everything I said before and just redirect to that post, but I just find it fascinating that the banshee - whose species we’re repeatedly told are eeeeeevil by nature - shows more humanity than the actual human antagonists in this arc. She never wanted harm to come to Maqi, taking him away the second she’s freed as both revenge on her oppressor and a means of keeping this little boy safe from his father’s single-minded crusade. Yua even directly expresses this sentiment when Maqi falls, horror-struck and swearing that it was always about hurting Ari and never Maqi. And even when Maqi is... eurgh, “healed” (yeah, there are a lot of problems with the resolution to this arc), Yua has the opportunity to strike Ari at his happiest and complete her vengeance, but seeing Maqi so delighted makes her retreat, at least for now. 

So yeah. More humanity than Ari and his blind rage in his quest to “cure” his son, and more humanity than Riddle & Co. in abducting an innocent teenage girl on the mere suspicion that she has powers with the intention of putting her through human experimentation. Yua takes Best Villain in my heart because she’s not a villain, not really.

Day 3: Favorite Love Interest

Again, unless you’re new here, it’s no shock that - if we’re talking animated series - it’s Matthew “I’m Arguing With a Housepet” Olsen. 

As wildly different as it is from the comics, I do so adore his character design, with his dark hair (which, uh, may have been the first indication that I have a Type when it comes to my favorite male characters) and purple hoodie. His personality is so endearing too, because he’s not just the idolized older boy we initially see him as in the comics, but like... a legitimate dork. He’s sweet and plays guitar and generally exudes Cool, but you get to know him and it’s easy to see that he and Will are like souls. Not the best about expressing their feelings to the person they like, but always ready to step up and fight.

That’s another quality I love about cartoon Matt. Even before the Shagon arc, very shortly after even learning of the Guardian secret, Matt wants in on the action. It’s not in a “living out his action hero dreams” way, or even really a matter of impressing/protecting Will: it’s more about not being the guy who sits safe on the sidelines while everyone else is risking their lives, and trying to prove (largely to himself, in the end) that he’s worthy to be Will’s boyfriend when she’s a honest-to-Kandrakar warrior and he’s just “Funny Matt.”

I’m going to skip the Shagon arc for now because I assure you I could probably talk for ages about cartoon Matt, and we don’t have that kind of time now.

As for comics, I definitely have to go with Eric Lyndon and - technically a pseudo-love interest - Joel Wright. Oh, and Peter Cook!! Basically, all the sweet guys who don’t get quite as much attention with the comics and whose romantic relationships developed a bit later.

Day 4: Favorite Ship

Surprise, surprise: it’s animated Will/Matt. I’ve blubbered about them before, I will blubber about them again (please give me reasons to do so?), so I’m going to spare you all this time around. Just know that they’re my longest-held major OTP, and that it normally takes a hell of a lot to get me to full-on ship something.

(Real quick though: mutually pining dorks? Matt’s insecurity about being enough for his badass electricity-flinging girlfriend? Will’s drive to just blast shit down to find and save Matt? “If this all goes south, I’m gonna be beside you”??? Please ignore my choked sobbing.)

Anyhoo, there are a couple different comics ships I’d say qualify, though I might not be as passionate about them as I am cartoon WxM. Hay Lin and Eric are positively adorable, and I love how their relationship was slow but not agonizingly so. Hay was the only one not to get a love interest of sorts from the very start, taking us all the way to issue 18 before a guy makes her giggly. And I really appreciate that it wasn’t just a superficial crush, that while Eric was cute, it was his kindness and the time he spent with Hay that made her go, You know, I think I like this guy. It was a refreshing change of pace, they’re both adorable, and we ignore the fact that Eric was mysteriously written out and Hay has that one issue in the Dark Times late in the series where she falls head-over-heels for this rockstar-ish guy for no real reason and changes her style to try to impress him. 

Honorable mentions go to Irma and Joel, who had excellent potential and should have still been kept as friends even if they decided to give Irma a different SO (we ignore the later issue where Joel just wistfully looks at Irma with his “We used to be friends” thought bubble and no actual explanation for why they aren’t anymore); and Cornelia and Peter, who I don’t give enough credit and definitely need to reread.

Day 5: Favorite Friendship

This is a tough one - can I say all of the W.i.t.c.h. girls together? Because outside of the first arc, there isn’t really a whole lot of focus on the smaller group friendships. 

Cornelia and Elyon is a good one, though, literally spanning worlds because Cornelia is dead-set on saving her friend. I’ll toss Orube and Will into the mix as well, because Will was crucial to Orube’s initial character development and they seemed to have the closest relationship moving forward.

Day 6: Favorite Cover/Pinup/Promotional Art

Oof, giving me the hard questions, are we? I have a few favorites, but one of the first that came to mind was this one of Will. It’s the cover of the 21st chapter book, which I think is actually the pinup for issue 21. They must have changed it up for the US release in order to keep it more in-line with the actual plot.

Day 7: Favorite Episode/Issue

Hrm. Let’s change it up and start with the comics on this one. Off the top of my head, I have a soft spot for issue 32. It’s the zenith of the Sylla sub-arc, so the stakes are high, the girls get cute semi-formal clothes when they go to the opera to spring and hopefully evade Riddle’s trap, Sylla double-crosses Riddle and teams up with Medina and McTiennan (and I still think there’s a missed opportunity here with wiping that particular team’s memories of the girls), and we get the most iconic page in this entire comic with Orube beating up Riddle’s goon while brushing off a suitor and then coyly asking him to be her arm candy. 

Issue 50 is another one I like, though largely because I enjoy the futures presented for each of the girls (I particularly love the concept of park ranger Cornelia and writer Will). And as a lingering vestige of my young, comic-Will/Matt-shipping heart, issue 40 is another nostalgic choice.

As for the animated series, I routinely consider my favorites on the chance that Greg Weisman still sells scripts at cons and I get the chance to buy that of a favorite episode. But true to form, basically all of my favorites are heavy Will/Matt episodes...

“D is for Dangerous” is fun because it’s the first time Will gains her quintessence lightning (yay!), the running gag with the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mr. Huggles is amusing, Elyon’s deadpan “Barehanded folding. My one talent” still kills me, and Matt and Caleb’s epic failures of training montages are great. “M is for Mercy” is brutal, with Shagon at his absolute deadliest and taunting Will with Matt’s disappearance, the utter hatred Will has for this demon who’s taken on the form of the boy she loves (and, unbeknownst to her, is legitimately a twisted reflection of Matt), and the sight of Shagon at his lowest while at Will’s mercy and her offer to teach him just that. “S is for Self” has not one but two musical numbers for Matt, and we finally get the resolution to the Shagon arc, so of course it’s a favorite.

But what the hell: I’m going with “T is for Trauma” as my favorite. I watched this episode three times the day it aired, and I still love it to this day. We get the introduction of rejuvenated C.h.y.k.n. (who wipe the floor with the W.i.t.c.h. girls at first), the Egyptian-themed costumes for no actual reason (“Could someone tell me how that man could look at me and think camel???”), Matt getting to fight as the badass normal for the first and last time since “L is for Loser,” etc. But most of all, this is Hay Lin’s episode, and it is absolutely soul-destroying but with a magnificent payoff at the end. It hurts to see the naturally lighthearted, high hopes member of the crew with her spirit absolutely shattered by her grandmother’s apparent betrayal, Eric’s brainwashing, and Nerissa’s general existence, and it’s just as painful that this was the way they gave her character development, but I have to commend this episode for one of the heaviest lines ever: “That’s how you survive the trauma - not by knowing it will be alright, but by having no other choice. ...I don’t have the luxury of breaking down right now.”

Gotta Get my GLOW Back

Someone the other day stopped me in the gym and said ‘You don’t have that GLOW you used to have’. Granted he then explained to me he thought it was because I was missing my amazing trainer KDream, which I am, but he then probably saw the horrified and sad look on my face and quickly said, ‘You don’t have to be down, we all are here for you!’ I was relieved and smiled, but then it really affected me that someone who I see in the gym, but do not interact with on a daily basis made a comment about my light and how I seemed dim. That was a GUT CHECK for sure! Wow! I have been trying so hard to work on myself and to exude that glow and sunshine, but still one of my dark clouds follows me and I have to fight it almost every day, self love and relationship with myself, which clearly in turn affects how other people view me if I do not have myself in check first.  

We all have our off days and that is one of the reasons I started this blog. It was for a creative outlet and a way for me to share about sweat sessions, appreciation for fresh air and the outdoors, nourishing foods, wellness practices and advocate for movement, which all of these things help me on my cloudy days. We all experience it, I just think it is important for people to find outlets and know that other people are going through it as well, because we all are on this crazy journey called LIFE. It can be beautiful and fulfilling, but it can also be challenging and heartbreaking. That is the beauty of it. It is perfectly imperfect. Also let’s face it, social media contributes to a lot of our self worth standards these days. It portrays the perfect life, the perfect picture ALL OF THE TIME. No one wants their unfiltered face as their profile picture. You always want to put your best face forward, and trust me I do too, but every now and then I will get raw and real, because you have to sometimes.

So speaking of raw and real, let’s start by opening up about something that is usually personal…relationships. They are hard. Whether you are working on the relationship with yourself or you are in search of one with another person or are in a relationship. Within the last couple of months, I have been trying to figure some things out like how to deal with just being friend zoned by my work crush, confusion about my ex, because I still dearly love him, and I am coming to terms that THAT chapter has officially come to a close, all while being pursued by other men. I had gone on a couple of random dates, put myself out there BUT nothing stuck.

What is wrong with me? Why can’t a man commit? Why am I being led on but not taken out? Am I doing something? Am I not pretty enough? Am I being too nice? Am I being too honest?

The doubt and blame flooded my perspective and it is so hard to stay a float and get air when you feel like you’re drowning in this endless sea. Body image demons were there too, which is when I get severely self conscious since I have had a history of being embarrassed and unsure of my body and how I have looked...so you get the point, downward spiral I went. All from dating and a little bit of rejection and there was some good in there too, but how could I take a compliment if I had been rejected and confused? This is where the self love part should come in...but it takes time.

F THIS! I am doing nothing wrong I finally had to convince myself - this is just life and those guys were there for a reason, but I am so tired of there being a ‘reason’ and for there being a lesson in patience, self love, discernment, blah blah blah. Dating is hard, it is confusing, and the more women who feel comfortable coming out and sharing their experiences, the better support we will all have. You are not alone and don’t you dare question your self worth or if it is you because a man didn't like you, someone made a negative comment or a date did not go how you planned.

If I have learned anything, I have had to deepen the relationship with myself first so that when these rejections, awkward moments, negative comments come at me, I will be okay and not get thrown off so easily. I know that it is almost impossible to not be affected, after all, I am a cancer, and I am incredibly emotional and sensitive, but I can control how I react and handle certain things.

You might ask why is this related to working out? Well for me, being the best version of myself comes from looking and feeling good, and I do that by sweat and movement. The gym is where I feel the most powerful and I feel confident as well, just about as confident as I feel when I have heels on, make-up flawless, bronzed skin, hair blown out, and tits up 😘. (Cue Ashley Graham strut)

Working out is also a great distraction and stress reliever - I mean my girl Khloe got it right when she got that revenge body. It helps to focus all your energy somewhere for an hour, whether that be in the gym or walking getting some sunshine and fresh air. One step at a time love and do things that make YOU happy. Invest in friendships, if you love your job, use that as an outlet, try different things, travel, SWEAT, eat, drink, find happiness, even if it is just one moment during the day...BE HAPPY with you!!! We all live in this world and we all are trying to figure out our path in this life. It is not always pretty, it actually can rock us hard, BUT that doesn’t mean we can’t find gratitude in our hearts, find happiness, and learn to love ourselves. Be in a relationship with you!

In an effort to get my shine back, I felt the need to break old cycles and try something NEW. BRAND NEW - I stepped outside of my comfort zone from my normal routine at The Nox and decided to try a boxing class. (Cue the nerves)

Yes, that is right, I took this AMAZING boxing class at the new gym that just opened up in DC called RUMBLE and ooo baby did I rumble. One, two, jab, cross, upper cut! Want to feel like a badass?! Then you need to sign up for one of these classes. WOW – talk about POW (HER) FUL!!!  

This class was a cross between boxing and a HIIT workout. I got to throw punches, burn off steam from the week, and then crush it in the HIIT part of the workout. I made a sweat date with my work hubby for a Friday night and I HAD THE BEST TIME. I mean look at those guns - our instructor was a badass too!

I don’t have a workout for you this time, but I want you to find the courage to try something new. Plan to try a new workout, invite a friend if you're intimidated and who knows, you might actually LOVE IT and find something that works for you!! Go ahead and sign up for that dance class, SoulCycle, or crossfit - DO THAT. Stretch yourself. It is so refreshing!! It will help bring out that glow, that new you feel after you accomplish it and CRUSH the workout!

THANK GOODNESS for TRADER JOES. I honestly do not know what I would do without this grocery store. This week features a quick, healthy salad option. Literally 6 ingredients…ready?!

That is it! OMG it is delicious – add your favorite protein if you want to beef it up some. Lean ground turkey or chicken is a great option or you can fry up some tofu to keep it vegetarian friendly. I know not all of us have access to TJs and I am sorry for that, so for the dressing a simple vinaigrette works too!

So remember, TRY SOMETHING NEW, whether that be a new workout class, or a new food like beets in your salad (trust me, I was not a fan at first) or try to switch up your routine a bit. Be gentle with yourself, love yourself first, GLOW from the inside out. It has been a learning process for me, but if I take it a day at a time, breathe through the frustrations and ride the highs when they come, my smile cannot be contained and that ARay of Sunshine beams forth.

Classes: Mage and Seer, Heir and Page

Alright, here we go again! I feel that this one is a harder sell then the last, so I've put a lot of thought into why i feel this is the most likely connection! That being said, get ready for a looooooooooong post 0u0. Also, if you want to read my post on the Thief, Rogue, Knight, and Maid classes, here’s a link!! 

The Knowing Classes, Mage and Seer!

This pairing is probably the most popular theory for where Mages belong, and since we know very little about Mages, we don’t have much to go on!! 

Here we can see Sollux, Mage of Doom, claim that in order for him to be a true Prophet of Doom, he must lose his sense of sight. This suggests, supported by  Meulin, Mage of Heart, who is deaf, that part of a Mages journey is losing a sense, but it ALSO suggests that Mages are prophets, much like the abilities we see Seers like Rose, Seer of Light, have! Along with all this and the fact that we see both Mages and Seers act as authorities of knowledge when it comes to their aspect, I think they are a perfect fit! Additionally, only Mages and Seers have been able to vividly hear Exiles and separate the exiles words from their own thoughts!

Mages, being the Active class, have/gain a lot of knowledge about their Aspect! Mages are known to be incredibly accurate when they make predictions about their Aspect! Although we only hear of this through Aranea, Meulin is told to have incredibly accurate ships! Additionally, we actually can see Sollux’s predictive abilities in the pester log I linked earlier! Strange how we only HEAR about Meulins abilities and actually SEE Solluxs... It’s hard to say what kind of abilities Mages gain with their classpect but the abilities the cannon Mages show suggest that they may gain some insight as to how their aspect works, or how their aspect may effect them/their group. Mages use their knowledge, in a best case scenario, to take the best course of action!

Seers, being the Passive class, gain knowledge of the future! Specifically futures that have to do with their Aspect. Rose, Seer of Light, gained knowledge of futures with fortuitous outcomes, as she explained on the meteor and explicitly stated, HERE, “My powers let me see fortuitous outcomes...”. End-quote. Terezi, Seer of Mind, gained the ability to see the future outcomes of specific choices! Although it’s a little difficult to decipher what exactly happened in [S] Terezi: Remem8er. but it could be interpreted as her gaining sight into a timeline where she made different choices! In Kankri, the Seer of Blood, we can see his post-scratch version see a timeline with a lot more interconnection in his races society! Doc Scratch said HERE, “But if I was a Seer, such [timeline ]offshoots would be fully within my domain. And if I was a Seer of Mind in particular, synaptic causality would be my specialty.” Synaptic Causality translating in layman's terms to the effects of peoples brains, or, more appropriately in this context, the effects of peoples choices! Although this is a less sound theory, its possible that Seers also see futures WITH their Aspect, Roses magic cue-ball acting as a representation of clarity. I personally am not quite sure about that one, but it’s a possibility! Seers have been known to often send people on quests as well, as seen with Rose devising the plan for their sessions scratch, and Terezi sending John to retcon the Timeline! Seers use their knowledge, in the best case scenario, to give advice and direct others through the best course of action!

With The Knowing Classes, we can see in both the characters and their abilities, that they care more about the metaphorical side of their Aspect then the Flashy Powers. Seers and Mages are ingrained in the deeper meanings of their Aspect! Their powers are knowledge based, and they dont really get sick flashy powers like everyone else does! Rose never cared about being lucky, but cared instead about Lights themes like Clarity and Fortune(fortune as in good stuff, not luck)! In order to find their opposites, we need to find a pair of classes that don’t care nearly as much about the deeper meanings, and more about the flashy powers and the raw feelings and surface level meanings of their Aspects! 

The Utilization/Embodiment Classes, Heir and Page!

I reaaaaally tried to settle on one name, but I just couldn’t, they fit in different ways.

Just like Knights and Maids, this is a good group to compare!! Except this time we have TWO pairs with the same Aspect, as well as an Inversion!! Once again, i’m sure this seems like an odd pair, but please hear me out! 

Heirs, being the Active class, gain, and even become their aspect! We can see this best with our Protagonist John, Heir of Breath! I call these the Utilization classes because you can see John use wind and manipulate it! BUT, I call them the Embodiment Classes because upon ascending to God Tier, John eventually gains the ability to literally become air! These names will make sense for Pages too when I get to them 0u0. You can see John gain more and more freedom throughout his adventure, starting with the ability to enter his dads room, then hold just about as many items as he wants, then hold as BIG of items as he wants, literally inheriting his wallet from his father, and then gaining freedom from the timeline itself!! John doing the retcon shenanigans could even be seen as him totally embodying the concept of Freedom! Equius, Heir of Void, gained irrelevance as he was killed and used as half of Arquius and then one fourth of Doc Scratch/Lord English, only being a source of strength for them. You could also see Equius’s blood being used to hide information about Gamzee and Lord English as him literally becoming the obscuring of information!  Additionally, although we know vary little about Mituna, Heir of Doom, and his story, you could say he gained a lot of death, even becoming, in an informal sense, brain dead before actually dying. And then staying that way even after death.

Pages, being the Passive class, gain, then exude massive amounts of their Aspect! Pages are told to have hypothetically infinite amounts of potential when it comes to their Aspect. Along with this being told to Jake, Page of Hope by Aranea and Ghost Brain Dirk many times, it was even hinted at by Aradia in reference to Tavros, Page of Breath, and his Flarp class, Boy Skylark. She says HERE, “n0ne 0f the really useful c0mbat abilities c0me int0 play until y0u reach a very high level. but i supp0se it will be rewarding when y0u get there.” We don’t have very much information about Horuss, Page of Void, but he did use to have a deficit of Void, having many useful skills, yet ended up, in a sense, gaining irrelevance. Aranea said it best during Openbound, “The Page of Void was a self taught master of mechanics, an avid patron of the fine arts, a passionate 8ody 8uilder, archer, am8rosia collector and steamwright. A poet, a scholar, a warrior, a lover, he was all that his caste demanded and more. A true troll Renaissance man. Yet in spite of all he worked to make something of himself, he amounted to very little. Responsi8le for neither great feats of heroism nor acts of villainy, he was just another game piece to 8e moved a8out the 8oard.” The only time we get to see the abilities of a Page is when Aranea takes over Jake's mind and releases his potential. During this, he LITERALLY exudes a massive ball of hope energy out of his body, causing mass destruction! I feel like I should say, when I say “exudes Aspect” I do not mean other people gain their Aspect from them just being around. I mean it in a less literal sense, as pages, after realization, have a lot of their Aspect, and by a lot, I mean a LOT!

It specifically about his Sexual Objectification, but I think the whole thing, especially the last two paragraphs, do a fantastic job of summarizing his arc as a Page of Hope!! Go ahead and read it HERE!! Also, follow punkcandy wile you’re at it because they’re dope.

Now the big part...

Why these Pairs?

As I said, we have two examples of a Page and Heir of the same Aspect. These are John and Tavros, Heir and Page of Breath, and Equius and Horuss, Heir and Page of Void. First, Breath. We can see John and Tavros have massive amounts of their Aspect by the end of their journey. John has it in the form of pure unrestrained freedom, but Tavros does in a different sense. The Breath Aspect (as well as the Blood Aspect in a different way) represents leadership abilities, specifically being able to drive people to a goal! Tavros definitely has this ability (and a lot of it) as he gathers the BILLIONS of ghosts for his army through friendship alone! Now, Void. Now, we know VERY little about Void. This is no surprise because an entire part of Void is the obscuring of information, but in addition to this, the first and ONLY Void player to delve into the concepts of Void or what it represents is Roxy! Equius and Horuss never gave much thought as to their Aspects deeper symbolic meanings. The only other players who have never been shown to give any real thought into what their Aspects mean include John, Mituna, Tavros, and Jake. The Heirs and Pages. Although we don’t know much about Mituna, John never really thought much about what breath represents or anything like that, he just followed his quest and became a badass hero! Tavros and Jake's Aspects are very important to their quests, so they do talk about their Aspects, but never to a degree more in depth then “Hope is when you believe in something” and “Gosh I wish I could get around without my wheelchair.” Although they care about their Aspects, they only really cared about the literal stuff about it, Like believing and flying. They didn't grow by thinking deeply about their Aspect and what it means to them, they grew by USING IT (Hey, that’s why I used the word Utilization) to kick ass. Although their personal growth had to do with their Aspects, they never gave it more thought then, “I have a rad life now instead of feeling sorry for myself” and “Look at my badass army (Suck it Vriska)”

THIS IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF HOW SEERS AND MAGES ARE.

To quote myself from earlier in this post, “Their powers are knowledge based, and they dont really get sick flashy powers like everyone else does! Rose never cared about being lucky, but cared instead about Lights themes like Clarity and Fortune(fortune as in good stuff, not luck)! “ 

Additionally, we can see the inversions in cannon!! John inverts to one who knows bonds when he acts as the lead authority of Friendship to Karkat! Rose inverts to one who embodies the Void when she goes Grimdark! Sollux inverts to one who utilizes Life when he uses his many dreamselves to keep himself active, as well as his half ghost! Horuss even inverts to one who gains a lot of Knowledge before his entering, being a well educated “Renaissance Troll”.

Although this post is made to give my reasons for why I think my theory is correct, not fight off other possibilities, I feel it is important to say this. Thematically, Rose and Jade inverting to each others classes makes a lot of sense. But with how the Classes actually work, it doesn't as much. It’s an entirely valid theory, and I dont think points towards it are necessarily wrong. I will be going into what exactly I think of Witch's in my next post, which will probably take longer to write then my other two combined.

Bonkai Reunion 8 x14 (Part 3)

 How the Tables Turn 

I want you to take a moment to focus individually on Kai and Bonnie’s expression in the gif below as I believe it is one of the most important moments between them in the scene. And it affects how the last bit of their conversation plays out

Kai has the look of desperation on his face. As I said in part 2, Kai is not thinking. He doesn’t care how he appears to Bonnie because he will do anything in that moment to prevent her from leaving him.  In spite of being chained, poor baby attempts to move the chair closer to her as if that will help him...that is how much he wants her stay. Meanwhile, Bonnie 

Bonnie is like...

Yes, Kai? You want me to...what? Stay? I can’t hear you! I want to hear you beg for it...

Bonnie seems to really enjoy the power she has over Kai. She seems to enjoy it a bit too much and it is in this moment that I thought, what is she playing at? why is she there? Not that I am complaining, I love that they are interacting, but she could have went about this a different way. It was only yesterday that she wanted nothing to do with him and now she is practically dangling herself in front of him like...

I know you wanted to see me Kai so here I am....I know it has been years, but don’t I look beautiful? Don’t I just exude confidence and a hint of mystery? Am I still you weakness? 

You can’t have me tho...oh, you thought this would end with hate sex?...I don’t know where you could have possibly got that impression. No, no, no, I am just here to tell you that I created another prison world for you. In fact, we are in it right now and this time you can’t escape. 

If Bonnie didn’t want to see him, she could have wrote all she wanted to say in a letter and left it for him to read and yet....there she was, standing in front of him. Why? 

Yes, I know. The writers need Bonnie to be there in order for her to learn about Katherine and then tell the rest of the gang. I understand that, but she seems to go to such lengths just to tell him that he is fucked. She devised this elaborate plan where she has to make an ascendant, create a prison world and find out what song he hates the most....all of this requires time and energy. 

I have to reiterate the importance of her location choice, the chains and her behaviour because it is all extra. Kai must have taught her well because that is something he would do. 

I mean Bonnie literally makes an alcoholic beverage for him and puts it on the table so that if he wakes up and looks to his left, he sees it.

And then she had to think about which chair she would chain him to and where she would be when he wakes up...I wouldn’t be surprised if she thought about what she would say to him and how she would say it before she turned the music on. 

You would think she would just kill him again and get on with it. Why waste time on Kai when she could spend that time with her boyfriend in the dimension she created?  

If I had to choose between making someone I hate suffer more than they already had in Hell and spending time with my boyfriend, who was killed recently and is the love of my life, I wouldn't hesitate to choose the latter.

It is almost as if she was compelled. She wanted to tease Kai and see the power she has over him. She needed to see his face as she told him the news.

Is it possible that Bonnie actually misses playing these games with Kai? That perhaps he has become her favourite opponent? And that no one can give her this feeling of satisfaction that Kai gives her when she beats him? 

I know it seems strange for her to feel that way when she supposedly hates him, but there is no other explanation for why she would bother

And this is what Kai sees in the first gif  that Bonnie really enjoys what she is doing to him He is in mid-sentence when he realises this.  Unfortunately, we will never know what he was about to say  It could have been:

I--I don’t want you to leave me  I--I want you to stay 

or he may have wanted to tell Bonnie about Katherine but offer to help defeat her 

Again, we will never know because when Kai sees that look, suddenly he changes  Kai is like....

Wait...she wants me to beg and plead for her to stay. She knows I have a soft spot for her and she enjoys seeing me suffer. Well, I am not going to give her the satisfaction. I am NOT going to appear weak. I am NOT going to show her that I care. I am Kai fucking Parker. If she is going to play me like that, I am going to make her feel what I felt. I am going to top her last move. She thinks she has checkmate me? I am going to turn this checkmate into a stalemate. 

The change is so sudden that Bonnie is now curious as to what is happening

Why has he stop begging?

Now it is time for Kai to make his final move...

Does this look like a genuine laugh to you? Do you think Kai thinks what he is saying is actually funny? Maybe he would have thought it funny if he was in a different situation. If it would somehow change the fact that he will still be in a prison world by the end of this conversation, then maybe he could really laugh at the MF gang for thinking Hell no longer exists, but he can’t change his fate. 

No matter what he says to Bonnie, he is still in a prison world. So you know what this is...this is a hollow laugh. We all know that laugh. The laugh someone uses when they are hurt and try to play it off just before they say their response which they hope will make the other person hurt more. 

This laugh is used as a ploy to get Bonnie to turn around and to erase his moment of vulnerability. To pretend it never happened and make it look like it was all an act leading up to this moment.  

As if he had the advantage the entire time. 

And it works...Bonnie has been pulled back into the chess game, but this time the power has been passed to Kai. Now she is the one that waits for him to reveal whatever information he has been holding on to 

However, Bonnie has been playing this game long enough with him to know that in order for her not to hand over all the power back to Kai, she has to maintain her composure. She must not show that she is vulnerable like he had a few seconds ago. She has to turn around and put on a face that says 

Go on, go on....say it! I can promise you that no matter what you say, I will never release you from your chains and let you leave this prison world 

She must hide that she is annoyed. She must hide that she is afraid of what he might say next. She must hide the fact that she knew the risk she was taking when she decided to play the game this way, yet chose to do it anyway, because she too revels in winning the game as much as Kai does. 

This will never be shown on TVD, but maybe in a fanfic somewhere, I imagine there will be a moment following this scene when Bonnie looks at herself in the mirror and wonders why she felt euphoric watching Kai squirm.  Maybe she will acknowledge that darkness and power tempts (or what she views as darkness) her and that she never felt as exhilarated as she did when the power is all in her hand. When she is a badass witch and doesn’t feel guilty for being selfish or finally putting herself first. 

Anyway so Bonnie prepares herself for the worst because she knows she hurt Kai and she knows he is going to be extra about his response 

How does she know that? 

It has happened many times before 

I used two examples, pre-merge and post-merge Kai because 

   - What has always been consistent is Kai’s reaction when Bonnie hurts him 

If Kai didn’t have a soft spot for Bonnie then there wouldn’t have been a flicker of emotion to show that he cares and he wouldn’t have tried to make her feel what he felt 

Notice that each time Bonnie says something that hurts Kai, he will do this thing where he will look down and then look back at Bonnie again or he will look at Bonnie for a moment and then look down. 

Then immediately or shortly after, he will respond in an extra way to conceal that she affects him. 

In the scene above, Kai pretends he is okay and pretends he is willing to do what Bonnie asks of him only to then say that he doesn’t need a Bennett witch and leaves her in the prison world. 

Why eat with her and tell her about his sad past if he knew he would leave her after that moment?

Kai is dramatic. He likes games so he is going to draw it out and be extra about it 

I think Kai wants to spend more time with Bonnie 

I think a part of him hopes he can change her mind and she can help them leave the prison world together 

Now in this scene, he doesn't physically hurt Bonnie, but he does go on about how no humanity Caroline might kill her to wipe that smirk off of Bonnie’s face and to get her to realise that she does need him. 

I think Chris chose to play Kai somewhere in the middle of these two similar but different reactions because he is not pre-merge or post-merge Kai anymore but post-Hell Kai. 

Which takes us to the look in this gif ^

He was laughing but abruptly stops. He looks down because the laugh was never real to begin with and he can no longer force himself to fake it. He knows what he has to do, but it does not get rid of the feeling that he wishes it would go differently. He gathers himself and then looks up at Bonnie with a look that says 

Good, now that I have your attention...

I need to say this before I move on to what happens next: I want you all to take what Kai’s says about Katherine with a pinch of salt because it is fuckery. I LOVE Katherine, she is one of my favourite characters on TVD, but even I was like...are we talking about the same person? Has there been another Katherine on this show that I am not aware of? I know it has been a long time since I watched s1-s5, but I don’t remember Katherine possessing some of the qualities Kai ascribes to her. 

So I am going to call it out for what it is: 

Fuckery!  It is obvious that they, and when I say they I mean Plec, are inserting her in this plot line for ratings just like Kai. It is TVD’s last season so they probably were like...

Fuck it, let us bring back these two popular characters whose story we fucked up the first time, and fuck them up some more again. 

I understand what the writers had to do in this scene. I understand the purpose of Kai’s lines were to 

Create excitement in the audience for the fan favourite’s return by stating alternative facts

They need Kai to be the character to say it because they both were in Hell and it makes the reveal ambiguous at first...is Kai referring to himself or someone else? 

And they were willing to write it in at the expense of creating more plot-holes because again, when has TVD ever valued consistency? OK. Fair enough. I expect nothing less from them so this is when the importance of talented actors come in. It doesn’t matter what the writers’ intentions were, if the delivery of the lines says something very different. If the script says the character passionately screams to the other character, ‘I love you’ and the actor decides to deliver that same line in a monotone voice then we, as an audience, can only interpret it as it is shown on screen because we will never read the script. 

Therefore, I hope my interpretation of this scene makes you feel a tad bit better the next time you choose to watch it because my analysis focuses on Chris’ delivery of Kai’s lines and how it fits the context of the scene.

Remember Kai needs to top Bonnie’s move in a very dramatic way. 

He wants to jab back at her because he believes she hit him below the belt. It is not about Katherine. It is about Bonnie as it always has and will be for Kai. He doesn’t have to believe one word of what he says about Katherine because the point is to bring Bonnie’s wall down. The point is to get her to feel the emotions that he felt and he will use any tactic to get that reaction. 

And so, he is not going to just come out and say that Katherine has taken over Hell. Bonnie didn’t do that when she told him about the prison world. He is going to create a riddle for each line he says about Katherine for effect

so that Bonnie can be like 

Who is the only person worse than Cade?

Who is the only person who knows where all our weak spots are?

Who wants to hits us over and over again?

Who is the myth?

And to prove to you that this is about Bonnie Look at his expression in the gif below 

He bares his teeth He carefully enunciates each word  He is angry, hurt and he wants her to feel it. He wants her to feel scared like he was scared. The message is this

I might be stuck in another prison world, but your friends will have to deal with Katherine so I guess this game has no winners.

Kai gets the reaction from Bonnie, but he probably wanted her to beg him to help her/the gang defeat Katherine.

so when Bonnie leaves him alone in the prison world well...

He is shocked because he thought it would go differently.  He just wanted to hurt her like she hurt him. He didn’t want Bonnie to leave him again.

ok so this is Nadia McConnell (here are photos of her in two different productions of bapo)

some facts: She is a senior at St. Cecilia's Catholic Boarding School. She is a twin! Her brother is Jason McConnell, who is one half of the main couple in the show, they have each other's backs <3 Her Parents aren't the best people, to put it lightly, she has a particularly difficult relationship with her mother who always brought down her self esteem growing up (so fuck her basically). Despite that, she is a badass and I will protect her at all costs.

Why she's my url: well bcs I love her?? sdjfhsdjk no really I do. I think that after the events of the show she will grow into a beautiful fully confident version of herself (this time not only for others to see but for when shes alone too), not letting anyone tell her who she can or can not be <3 Also, there's this other character, Ivy, who she has a sort of rivarly with but then they make amends by the end of the show, realising that they are more alike than they thought they were and my headcanon is that they are in love your honor <3 sdkfjsdfjhs look I just know that Nadia exudes WLW energy (lets face it, no one in that catholic school is straight) and usually I say she is a bisexual icon but honestly idc she just loves girls dskjfhdsf so that's where I got lesbeanadiamcnll
