I made an inside out au!! Plz help me bc it’s my first time making an au so if it just sounds like a crappy retelling of the second movie I really do apologize 😔 anyways here it is!! Don’t be afraid to criticize it bc I came up with it all as I went so I will revise it and all lmao
Baking Memories!
In this AU, Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust and Anger run a bakery cafe called Baking Memories, a very popular one in their community at that. They have built a successful reputation as a lively cafe where it's ok to eat your feelings out. Despite not being experts in consultation, they've changed many people's lives for the better. Everything was going incredibly smoothly, until three new hires arrive. The OG crew were super excited for them to join the bakery, but soon notice something's off. Anxiety, the first new hire, slowly starts to insert herself into almost everything the OG crew does, and while she's undoubtedly super helpful, she starts taking over the whole bakery, alongside fellow new hires Ennui and Embarrassment. Now, kicked out of the bakery, Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust and Anger must figure out how to both revert the bakery to its old beloved state and snap Anxiety out of the control freak mindset she's unhealthily indulged in.
(more under the cut)
CHARACTERS
OG CREW
JOY
The founder and co-owner of Baking Memories! When she was little, she loved eating her grandmother's baked goods. They always made any bad day good and any good day great. When she grew older, she had dreams of sharing these treats with the world and bringing people together. That's when her grandmother gave her a cookbook with recipes to almost every sweet treat she made for Joy. A little while after being given this cookbook, she and Sadness finally opened Baking Memories.
When it comes to handling customers, Joy will always strive to deliver the most pleasant and welcoming experience possible. That means even on her most miserable day, she will still keep a positive attitude and a smile. Sadness appreciates this much dedication, but still wants her to have a breather and let her feelings out everyday during breaks, but Joy feels like this will only slow her down. She loves the bakery so much, and so will do anything to protect and care for it and its patrons.
SADNESS
Co-owns Baking Memories with Joy. They have both been good friends (and, actually, the only friend Joy has had,) and would often come over to Joy's grandmother's house to eat these elusively delicious treats. She always felt sad, so these were the magical band-aid she always needed. When Joy asked her to open a bakery with her, she agreed mostly because she thought the whole concept could actually cure the rather moody town of Imagina.
Customers and patrons of Baking Memories love Sadness for one reason: she resonates and connects with them in a way nobody else can do it. She's kind, sweet, soft-spoken and comforting. Her personality and the delicious baked goods make for one heck of a combo. Sure, she sometimes cries during her job, but she gets things done, even though she doesn't feel great. Doing basic chores like cleaning the floor and tables actually calm her, and boost her overall mood.
FEAR
The first crew member of Baking Memories. He actually came into Joy and Sadness' awareness a little later. Joy and Sadness opened a small Baking Memories pop-up at a school fair, and he and Disgust were drawn to the delectable scent of the baked treats. As he took a bite of a croissant, he was suddenly transported to a dream. He loved the taste so much, he actually fainted! The scene was horrendous at first, but it afterwards was hilarious. It also gave Joy and Sadness insight to how the general public reacted to their baked goods. Afterwards, he desperately wanted to join the duo's bakery to see how these treats were made. He loved it all!
Fear is very much a "fight or flight" type of guy. If a customer is giving him attitude, he will either take action and handle it himself, or just get someone else to do it.
Preferably Disgust or Anger. Customers love how he's unintentionally funny, and some even come from miles to this bakery just to get served by him! Joy can sometimes distract him from working and therefore makes many mistakes in orders. But he will do complimentary redo's if your order ends up a little wonky!
DISGUST
Crew member and marketing manager of Baking Memories. Met Joy and Sadness the same way Fear did, through the school fair booth. Taking a bite into the custard croissant she got, she felt so much lighter. She wrote about this heavenly experience on her blog, and boy, did it blow up. She then gained utter respect and even a little envy for the duo and applied to be their marketing manager. She did have to pay the price of becoming a full on employee and take care of chores, which does drag her but is still content.
Disgust hates doing chores with a burning passion, but despite that loves her job. She will comment on a lot of people's outfits (opinions may vary) and always come up with exciting new events, deals and campaigns. Each one drawing crowds up to hundreds! A lot of patrons especially note that if Disgust wasn't working here, they wouldn't have become the bakery that they are today.
ANGER
Crew member of Baking Memories. He was actually the very first customer of the shop, and came right after quitting his former job. He came in with such a temper, desperately needing coffee to at least tame himself. The whole crew had to handle him by gathering around him ready to extinguish his rage. After seeing how much help they truly needed, he offered to join them to help handle the bakery.
Anger loves customers who are on the same level as him. He gets who they are, what they need, and why they need it so much. Think of it as attacking back with the same weapon. However, even the mildest irritating customer can set him off. So much, someone who is the complete opposite like Joy would have no choice but to step in before things get worse.
NEW HIRES
ANXIETY
Newest crew member of Baking Memories. As a young woman, Anxiety had so much to juggle, and yet still managed to take care of it all. When she found out about Baking Memories, she wanted to try it so bad (mostly because of Ennui). The treats were extremely delicious, and their coffee was top-notch! She loved everything about it... until she was done. After her experience, Anxiety felt that 5 people working in a bakery that serves tens of thousands of people each week sounded overwhelming, and since she needed a job so badly, she figured she could fix it up a little...
When hired, Joy immediately displayed Anxiety as the ideal crew member. She was genuinely shocked when she saw her take great care of everything on her list of chores, and all in an instant! Joy definitely wanted her to be a role model for everyone else, especially the other new hires. However, Anxiety felt like she wasn't doing enough to keep up this fine establishment. She then decided to create new treats and completely rebrand the whole bakery. She then was so dedicated to creating the New Baking Memories that she might've gone a bit over her head...
ENNUI
Second new crew member of Baking Memories. Unlike her friend and roommate Anxiety, she showed little to no interest in working at the bakery. Sure, the baked goods were tasty as heck, out she would rather lay on the couch in their apartment than do manual labor. Unfortunately, Anxiety dragged her alongside to apply for the job, so she's just here... I guess.
"Miss IDGAF" is literally Ennui's nickname (from Disgust, alongside "Wee-wee" by Joy), especially considering that when she mans the register, she's just on her phone.
Somehow, she still gets orders through, but no one knows how she even does that. If her phone dies or is taken away, she goes into instant panic mode. Which is pretty much why she almost despises days when Envy tags along with Disgust to work. Envy can get very much drawn to it, and so she must protect it at all costs. Or maybe not.
EMBARRASSMENT
Third new crew member of Baking Memories. He's not the type of guy to stand out like the others, but rather blend in. It's always why he will forever never go out without his hoodie. It helps him feel "invisible" to the public. But when around people he can trust, like Envy and Sadness, he brings out his true personality. He's gentle, kind and compassionate, just like Sadness. In fact, Sadness hired him at Baking Memories just so he can practice socializing with people.
Embarrassment is scared to death of talking directly to strangers, so Sadness is helping him ease his way up the ladder of the workforce. As he works in the kitchen, where nobody can really pay attention to him, he gets things done. Not as much as Anxiety can, which he does wish he could. If your order came out slowly, it was most likely that Embarrassment made it. He's still a work in progress, just like everyone else.
ENVY (not an employee)
Disgust's little sister. After moving back to Imagina with her mom to live nearby Disgust, she heard about her job at Baking Memories and immediately begged to tag along with her. She loves going with Disgust every week to see and admire her big sis, and eat yummy desserts while she's at it. She also likes sneaking out Ennui's phone to watch makeup videos. Ennui still has no idea how she does it, so she's extra protective of it, but she still doesn't care either.
When Anxiety joins the bakery, Envy grows a close bond with her, and since then they've been best friends. She inevitably starts to admire and look up to Anxiety, and offers her help marketing the joint, just like Disgust. She thinks Anxiety's rebranding plan is amazing, but kinda wishes that she didn't kick out the OG crew, especially considering Disgust is out and the only people who know how to manage the bakery.
thanks for reading my crap and feedback is super appreciated :D alr byeee

come grab your freshly off the grill cooked ship!
This time featuring the 'arts and crafts project' because Felis is glue here, otherwise the rest would fall apart.
FOR THE RECORD this is if all three Hua's here were individual entities separate from each other
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'll put my unhinged mentally unwell takes down below for your enjoyment <3
ill try to. help make sense of their personalities and thoughts on the others. Felis: basically her usual self, though maybe a bit toned down with her antics (I say toned down as if I ever elaborated on what she's like lol)
treasures Hua the most, best friends and partners, tries to get Hua to be less stiff and enjoy life but also is scared to lose her
admires Phoenix and gets along with her really well
thinks AE is kinda scary because she's a celestial but there's something alluring about such a powerful entity being so mysterious and 'cold' (girl cant help getting a crush tho)
Hua: soldier, shy, unsure of herself, basically her moths era (NOT her Elysian Realm SIM!)
got attached to Felis because she is a source of comfort and feels like 'home', likes having someone to come to after her missions
Phoenix's happy and relaxed attitude is calming in contrast to her life but her and Felis can get a bit overwhelming when together, she appreciates her though even if they're not that close
AE is very scary and she tries to keep away from her, feels like AE doesn't approve of her for whatever reason and glares at her sometimes (it's just the AE resting bitchface she gives to everyone by accident but holds no malice)
Phoenix / Jingwei: deity, thinks humans r funny, clever and wondrous and loves them dearly
Felis's happy attitude resonates with her and she may have gotten a little crush on her because of that as well, but she can keep herself in check if her feelings aren't reciprocated
thinks Hua is a cute little birdie that she wants to protect bc shes so precious
longtime friends with Azure Empyrea and they have a weird but mutual friendship (and maybe more...? unspoken feelings towards each other that they never address but are both sort of 'Aware Of' since Phoenix is the one who calms down AE if she's being unreasonable OR the first person AE goes to if she's feeling down / feels negative emotions)
Azure Empyrea: cold, calculating, has an eerie calm attitude but can be scary if she gets angry, stern and firm in her ways but can be persuaded (see: Phoenix) to compromise. means well but doesn't know how to show it
finds Felis intriguing because of her nature, also catches her sometimes glancing at her or following her around, can't sense any malice from her so aside from being a little annoyance at first, she warmed up to her presence (and she keeps Phoenix happy whenever she can't partake in whatever silly human thing she wants to play / do)
sees Jingwei as an equal, cares more about her than she lets on but doesn't want to tie her down to someone like her, still appreciates the fact that Phoenix spends time with her and tries to be the bridge between her and humans
her feelings towards Hua are complicated and she usually keeps her distance because she can sense the fear coming off her. however Hua reminds her of her past self(?start of her journey as a celestial deity), unsure and without a place in the world and she feels the need to be there or give advice (if ever asked), doesn't hold any hostility towards her but something about her own expression (? too dumb to figure out) scares Hua and she doesn't understand why
I have a so many more snippets to share...if you will ;3

matty buying pfms reader a sex toy and her getting all shy about it because shes never used one but him showing her how to do it and she always thinks of him while using it
wait wait bc. he’s going away to visit family in england during the summer. it’s only a month, but it’s the longest they have been apart since their ~thing~ started and she keeps saying that she’ll miss him and she doesn’t know what she’ll do without him. so matty is rectifying the situation! when he’s leaving soon, he tells her he has a surprise for her and he sneaks into her bedroom window per usual. ofc, the gift ends up being a vibrator. she blushes red to her roots, looking at the scandalous thing with almost embarrassment.
‘i— i don’t know how to use it,’ is what she says, being all shy and awkward like she used to be around sex. it’s cute how she’s acting like some unknowledgeable virgin again.
‘it’s to masturbate.’
she glares Daggers at him. ‘well, i know that, but…’ her voice trails, biting her lip, throwing matty an indulgent side glance before quickly looking away. there’s something on her mind she’s afraid to say.
matty smirks at that, sitting beside her on the bed, pushing strands of hair behind her shoulder. ‘do you want me to show you?’ he whispers in her neck, kissing it. she nods. ‘yeah? get on the bed.’
she starts like he taught her— slow, teasing herself. she’s flushed, entirely naked, legs opened for his mesmerized eyes. she puts on a show for him, staring at him through faux-doe eyes, playing at her clit, moaning as loud as the walls allow. she’s trying to break him. matty knows this.
still, when she’s dipping a finger inside herself, he says, ‘take the vibrator.’
she’s incertain again all of a sudden, grabbing the wand with trembling fingers. matty, kneeling in front of her, does reach a hand out, lighting up the vibrator for her. it buzzes aggressively. she jumps, covering a giggle with her hand.
he puppeteers her wrist, placing the toy between her legs. it hits her clit and she arches her back instinctively, scrunching her face to kill a scream. she grows putty on the sheets, grasping at the material uselessly.
she looks for him through the bed, trying to tug him on top of her, to woo her way under his clothes. she makes a very good case, looking all pretty with her sweaty hair and her swollen lips and her peaked breasts.
indulgently, matty grabs one of her tits, pinching the nipple like she likes. she whines, smiling lazily, gripping his wrist and sucking his finger inside her mouth. she grins around his digits, leaving them clean.
‘fuck me,’ she demands, and she thinks she’s got him.
cocking his head with a hint of cruelty, he ups the speed. ‘shit,’ she cries. her legs kick, her head rolls, her hips grind in rhythm. she slaps a hand over her mouth to cover her moans, chanting his name even when he’s not the one giving her pleasure.
‘there you go, pet. doing so good for me. ‘s not so scary, right? not so hard?’ she nods, but matty knows she’s just agreeing to whatever words fall from his lips, begging for an orgasm by being especially good.
matty goes for the coup de grace— lining the vibrator to her entrance, but she grips his wrist and stops him. she shakes her head. ‘no?’ matty asks.
‘only you.’ he smiles at that, chest fluttering. well, who is he to deny her?
matty ups the speed a final time instead, watching gleefully as the buzzing resonates on her clit. she falls apart, face breaking wide open as she whimpers his name religiously.
after cleaning it, he hides the toy in her nightstand. ‘for when you miss me,’ he winks.
matty lays beside her on the bed. she rolls to her side, hiding her face in his neck. ‘well, i can’t very well spend all day and night with it between my thighs.’
matty’s glad for the night. at least no one but him knows he’s blushing.

Out of the people you know on here, what do you think they're aesthetics are??
this is such an interesting question 😭 these are just the vibes i get from some of y’all!! not at all saying they’re fact but i love trying to read people lol. halfway through, this stopped being ab aesthetics and became solely based off vibes bc i can’t stay on topic
uhhh @tiredmamaissy gives me boho babe vibes. like very earthy, spiritual energy, chill and down to earth. like a female bob marley. her living in the carribean and having a slight accent kind of solidified this can’t lie but i don’t mean it in like a stereotypical way. her vibe is also sort of intimidating, she oozes confidence but in the good way that just screams dominance (yes this is me confessing my love for you)
@randxmthxughts she seems very put together, and odd observation but i feel like she’s a morning person. wakes up at 7-8am, has a set schedule. minimalist type vibes. possibly a swiftie??
@mightyneteyam not really an aesthetic but i’m like 98% sure we’re fucking twins. the keyboard smashing, i love the way they spam post it resonates so hard and just screams adhd (which i have), we’re def the same person
@sweethoneycn gives me mama bear vibes. like she’ll genuinely take care of you if something is ailing you, calls you “sweetie” or “love”, the type of person to make sure you’re okay. she’s super nice and that might fool some idiot into thinking they can get away w doing some fuckshit but shordy seem like she can whoop ass fr ion want no problems 😭
@theycallmesia definition of sweetheart. she is such a sweetie i feel like she loves hugs and is the type to walk around giving them out. radiates good energy, kind of like joy from inside out
@eitaababe i feel she is 100% a swifite. there’s no way she’s not, her stories always remind me of taylor swift songs and that’s why they’re so fun to read. she also seems like the person who keeps a clean room, like somebody comes in and moves one thing in the wrong place and she’s like um… put that back. now 😭
@justasimps-blog i feel like if Luna looked in my direction I’d probably melt into a puddle. like deadass. also feel like she has an amazing sense of humor and is someone you could laugh with for 4 hours straight and your social battery won’t run out around her
@andraga12 i think she has a very vivid, explorative imagination, was probably the child who was able to keep herself entertained. I’m also convinced she has magic fingers, the way she pumps these stories out at the speed of light? and they’re all good and high quality?? seems like an open-minded person, befriends all different kinds of people and doesn’t have a set friend group because she gets along with everyone v well
@lovemyavatar biggg bookworm. you can tell by the way she writes her stories it’s like someone picked you up and dropped you right into a movie and you’re the main character of it. probably excelled in all her english classes. this was the girl you could not best in a socratic seminar/class book discussion ❗️

cutting it soo close to the wire oopsie but i'm here!! 2023 is out, 2024 is in. also in: your december reading update? did you hit 50 books read? what are your 2024 reading goals, anything that suprised you about your 2023 reading other than falling in love with Dennis Cooper?
I read 12 books last month man it was a blur!!
Tumblr media
ok there's just too many for me to indulge in any rambling so I'm gonna try and keep things short n sweet
Nana Vol. 1-3 by Ai Yazawa - I was never really into manga growing up but this is like exactly the type of story and style I wanna wrap myself up in always!! so much fun!! the rumors are true, I love a roommate story!!! I read each one in a single sitting so I wanna pace myself thru the rest of the series so that I don't spoil + finish it all at once </3
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury - honestly not as fantastical as I was expecting for some reason but it reminded me of Coraline which was fun! I could see Neil Gaiman getting inspo from this (edit: literally just looked it up and yes Gaiman indeed cites him as a direct influence yup yup)
Out of Time by Samira Azzam - something almost Steinbeck-like in these vignettes of everyday life in a very culturally-specific way that I really enjoy. really insightful introduction that mentioned how although most her stories didn't explicitly mention Palestine, they still were recognizable as a Palestinian existence + therefore shaped a sort of Palestinian consciousness for readers that were often blocked from accessing their own culture in academic settings
The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison - I can't believe it took me this long to read something by Toni Morrison / that I never read her in any English classes?? like she seems so foundational to the grand scheme of American literature.... ridiculous! so phenomenal and gripping and darker than I expected. not just an engrossing story but also a really intentional and haunting use of language that really sinks you into that world/shifting perspectives
Tasting the Sky: A Palestinian Childhood by Ibtisam Barakat - this is like the only Palestinian book my local library has (shameful!) so I checked it out on a whim and was so surprised at what an amazing memoir this is!!! touching and vibrant and left me so eager to read her follow-up memoir based around her teenage years. I feel like this is a great introduction to Palestinian literature in general bc while it does (obviously) tie in the history and reality of occupation, the amount of love & detail given to the everyday things - merely going to school or playing with her brothers - was so enlightening and relatable
Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris - the first/main story, SantaLand Diaries, is still one of my favorites - I love stories about odd jobs + boy does Sedaris have so many tales to tell about those!! reread this in one sitting before I sent it off to a friend who seems to find herself in a new odd job each year so I figured she'd resonate
Gaza in Crisis and On Palestine by Noam Chomsky & Ilan Pappé, edited by Frank Barat - 2 separate books but I'll talk about them together since they're companion pieces. surprisingly accessible, probably due to the format of essays mixed with interviews. On Palestine echoed a lot of the sentiments of Gaza in Crisis so I'd recommend On Palestine for a sort of "updated" version (and in my opinion, more thorough). a good stepping stone for some of the meatier/more history-dense books on my TBR
Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel - yknow the thing about recipe bloggers who will intersperse their super personal life story into the recipe? this is like a whole book of that it's kinda iconic... honestly a little juvenile and ridiculous at times but I had a fun + have made hot chocolate every single day since reading this which literally wasn't even one of the recipes included/the title itself comes from like 1 short part towards the end but still... Ms. Esquivel's impact... the movie adaptation was really well done too, captured the magical realism surprisingly well without making things look hokey + Man I just love food in film!!!
Good Sense & the Faithless by Michelle T. Clinton - beautiful sexy thoughtful angry hopeful healing.... I really love her and I'm glad I ended the year with this!!
YES I surpassed by goal which honestly did surprise me bc if you recall I sliced my 50 down to 36 a few months ago because 50 didn't seem feasible at the time, but I guess the lesson is to never underestimate winter reading!! still I'm playing it safe and declaring 40 as my 2024 goal... for now.... a few weeks ago I made a little reading syllabus for the year where each month is a different theme (except for january + august to give myself some time to get the wiggles/impulsive reads out ya know) and I mostly sourced from books I already own or books in my TBR so I'm really excited to have more structure to my reads + actually get through some of the books in my ever-growing TBR!! shameful and embarrassing that it's nearly at 1k books like GOD just READ them, woman!!! I think I'm also surprised at how many graphic novel collections I read (3!) which maybe shouldn't be that surprising bc I always have a good time with graphic novels but I think these particular reads opened the door to a buncha different authors and artists and literary circles which ofc I'm always grateful for! yay reading!!

This was posted earlier today. I have the updated article on my tumblr page. I think I’m ok with it if it happens. I think it heightens the emotions between Belly and Conrad. 🤔Thoughts?
Thank you so much (and shout out to the anons who sent me links. I'm gonna respond to all of y'all collectively with this one).
Honestly, at first my jaw was on the floor and I was just sitting there silently in shock. And I was kinda mad and upset. I just feel like they did this same exact thing with TATBILB and I just don't understand why she would spend so much time writing the characters a certain way and building such a beautiful little world with such respectful men and then changing such a big part of a characters beliefs and the way they were written. I know people are saying "JH is making it more sex positive and bringing the story into 2023" but tbh I don't think having a boundary and wanting to wait for the right moment (bc Belly DOES want to have sex (with both brothers at different points I'd argue) and she thinks about it in the books. she just wanted it to be special and the right moment). I don't think there's anything wrong with showing that and showing boys who respect the boundary and don't push it or force it. I think that is the most healthy thing you could show. Even though Jere has his flaws and gets annoyed about Belly not having sex with him, he doesn't really push her on it, he just respects the boundary and is silently mad about it. In hs my best friend had a boyfriend who was SUPER pushy, she was honest with him and kept telling him "no, i'm not ready yet" and he just kept pushing her about it, and eventually they broke up and she realized how awful that behavior (among other red flag behavior from him) was. I just feel like the message being sent to young girls today is not a good one and I was actually kind of excited to see a show that would portray sex in a different light. I clowned myself because I thought since JH is the showrunner, she'd keep the important things from the books. But I guess this is a battle we are losing lol. That Christmas scene was so so good in the book, and the way Conrad is with Belly, how he recognizes the importance and wants it to be special for her...I was really looking forward to that.
After much consideration, I think I'm actually okay with it, as long as it's Conrad. And I have a feeling it is going to be Conrad, in Cousins in December. That's kind of the only way it would make sense is if it happens there. Also the fact that they bring up the fact that she loses her virginity immediately following "Tung...wanted to ensure that key moments from the second book...carried the same weight and resonance when adapted for the screen". The first thing that popped into my head after I read that was the Christmas in Cousins scene, because I felt like that whole thing resonated heavily in the book and it was really important. Also if I'm right and it is Conrad in Cousins, it actually adds more flames to the fire and more angst to the 3rd book storyline, because if she doesn't sleep with Jere but he finds out somehow that she did sleep with Conrad, and then finds out she ended up alone with him in Cousins again and didn't tell him? Oh that will be GOLD. Jere sleeping with the sorority sister could still carry the same amount weight. Just because the audience knows she lost her virginity to Conrad doesn't mean any of the other characters are going to know. And Conrad strikes me as a guy who wouldn't kiss and tell (and especially his own jealous little brother and Belly's older brother lol). I think they could 100% pull off the rest of the plot and still have her give herself fully to Conrad. But I can see the secret coming out to Jeremiah in the heat of an argument and all hell breaking loose. I think it'll be fine. It has to be lol
also who's idea was it to drop this spoiler-ish bomb on us two days before the start of the season?? I just wanna talk

POOKIE now that the album has been out for a while what are your fav songs????
me personnally i cant pick they all already mean sm to me😭😭
once i saw it was a DOUBLE ALBUM i decided to wait till i had enough time to listen in full so i will listen right now and pull a you and give live ratings! (skip to the bottom for an overall feeling)
fortnight 8/10 - this is so ex coded holy “i love you and it’s ruining my life” literally of her relationships at some point, wow. i will say that post is an interesting collab for this type of song but i don’t hate it
the tortured poets department 6/10 - i liked the bridge (i think that’s what it is) the best. lyrically it’s good but not my fave and saying that ab the title track i hope doesn’t get me yelled at by anyone
my boy only breaks his favorite toys 9/10 - i claimed this one from the tracklist so i knew i was gonna like it. the best she stays with as she sings the title is perfect for an edit
down bad 7.5/10 - i didn’t expect her to come out cussing at me, okay ms swift. not a skip but not a daily listen either. crying at the gym is relatable though
so long, london 8/10 - i used this as a fic title lol but the cadence really shows how angry/tired she was by the time they split. the lyrics here are so powerful too. her imagery is always so beautiful
but daddy i love him 6/10 - idk why but this just doesn’t resonate with me the way i thought it would. still good though but i wouldn’t save it turn it on from my own phone
fresh out the slammer 9/10- having that one person who is your immediate thought, the driving force behind you, your everything is all i want and that yearning keeps me up at night
florida!! 4/10- nothing about this song drew me in 🫣
guilty as sin? 8/10 - “i choose you and me religiously” so matt murdock coded
who’s afraid of little old me? 10/10 - SO ex coded and rep coded “i was gentle, i was tame till the circus life made me mean” or “you wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me” TELL ME THAT ISNT OUR GIRL EXODUS
i can fix him (no really i can) 6.5/10 - me with every fictional man i come across the “ woah, maybe i can’t” at the end is crazy, basically agreeing that he was such a mess but i was hoping to like this one a little more
loml 9/10- joe put her through it, holy shit
i can do it with a broken heart 10/10 - immediately can tell she was writing about herself performing from another perspective and i love the juxtaposition of a pop-dance type beat with these tougher lyrics “i cry a lot but im so productive” is literally me
the smallest man who ever lived 7.8/10 - the title feels like the inverse of the “loudest woman this town has ever seen” lyric and to me, it really highlights got she was always this icon whereas he was always ducking and dodging and not willing to live in that spotlight with her
the alchemy 5/10 - i feel like the message of this song went right over my head
clara bow 6/10 - it’s a cute song that (i think) documents the growth of her career and maybe the comparisons/comments she gotten as she’s worked and how people compare new stars to her
the black dog 5/10- it doesn’t really resonate with me
imgonnagetyouback 8.5/10 - is this the one some people are saying is similar to get him back! by liv? bc the only similarity i hear is the concept of not knowing if you’re gonna rekindle or beat the shit out of your ex
the albatross 8.5/10 - it’s like she knows exodus and elektra. “she is here to destroy you” but i think this is another way of her reclaiming her image/reputation through acknowledging and challenging what men/media say about her
chloe or sam or sophia or marcus 8.8/10 - honestly idk what ab this song but it’s so beautiful. i can’t explain it but its like a ballroom dance
how did it end? 9/10 - this song gives the vibes of a movie scene where two people are on swings at the night and then suddenly, one swing is empty (but still going) and the other person is just teetering on their toes
so high school 5/10 - gives me early ts vibes and it’s cute but not really me
i hate it here 7/10- not my favorite but i do like the beat
thanK you aIMee 6/10 - this is directed at KIM or am i tripping? also the guitar reminds me of debut era for some reason
i look in peoples windows 7.5/10 - this song is yearning, wanting to see that person just one more time and its me wondering if i’ll see my ex again, just to know what’d happen if he saw me again after everything he’s said to me
the prophecy 9/10 - i really love the chorus
cassandra 5/10 - didn’t really stick out to me and became background noise 🫣
peter 7.8/10 - its really cute and ik it’s probably more of a peter pan reference but the editors need to get on it and do peter x mj
the bolter 8.7/10 - i was not reviled by anyone except my own father so (we’re better now though) but i do run from intimacy
robin 6/10 - slow, sweet, cute little song
the manuscript 9/10- instantly loved it (forgot what else i wanted to say here)
overall, is a lyrically beautiful album. there’s so much emotion in the music and her delivery. her imagery is so beautiful as always. personally, i won’t say i love it but it is so so impactful. releasing 31 songs in one project is unheard of so i tip my hat to her ability to tell these stories with such grace and eloquence through such a marathon of an album. i like that you can hear bits of her previous albums in some of the songs and it is a very mature project imo. you can tell how much this meant to her and how much of herself she’s poured out. its an overall ~7.8/10 for me but i would recommend everyone to give it a listen

dropping some thoughts about vida here
i started watching this show for melissa barrera and i absolutely enjoyed it and have rewatched some episodes bc it's very entertaining
s3 felt kind of different, it was almost like the sisters switched roles at some points
i might be reading too much into it, but in the first few eps as emma and nico's relationship was going well i would look at emma's face and be like she's happy but she's still waiting for the other shoe to drop, and of course it did. and i was so sad to see her clam up again and fall back into her whole "vulnerability = weakness" thing. for a few episodes she just looked so dead inside like she was seriously depressed and triggered with everything going on, like nico's secret wife and her awful dad making himself known
i love lyn so much but i need her to be single. i'm so glad she finally realized where her true priorities lie and that she needs to work on turning into a chameleon with the men in her life but i just hate that it happened in the last like 20 minutes of the series finale
side note but i was not expecting lyn to get so into religion for a hot minute. i mean i understand that it was her yet again molding herself to the people in her life, so i think she snapped out of it once her father showed his true colors but still like it was so jarring. god the man gave me such awful vibes and the last scene of him and emma after she confronted him was legitimately hard to watch
the sisters spent so much time apart and on different pages this season it made me sad :( i completely understand why but i do miss the moments in the first episode or in earlier seasons when they were sisterly and messing with each other
i love that mari had some more time this season to build herself up a little more and yes this is cruel to say but her dad dying is a blessing ! now she can finally look after herself and find people who appreciate what she does. honestly that man pretty much killed himself after he kicked out the only child who actually took care of him. ladies ask not what u can do for machismo but what machismo can do for u
speaking of this family i can't STAND johnny oh my GOD get off my screen and get away from the women in ur life all u do is hurt them
god i wish this new generation of shows had longer seasons. a 6 episode season is nowhere near enough to develop the characters and storylines better (even tho this season the episodes weren't all 30 min like s1 and s2). i was like holy shit things are happening so fast it's one terrible thing after the other but of course they are, they only have like 5 hours to tell the story!!
i'm really fond of this show and how witty it is, its integration of mexican and american and mexican-american cultures, the spanglish, the butch rep!! everything
actually one of my favorite moments this season was when lyn was talking to that european dude at her bf's mom's bday party (fuck her bf and his mom by the way holy shit he was such a weirdo) and she was talking about how difficult it is to be perceived as mexican by gringos while still not being mexican enough for mexicans. when she said she couldn't even hold a conversation in english or spanish i was like u read my mind. i'm literally incoherent. anyway it really resonated with me as an immigrant and i think it's such an important conversation to have!!
anyway emma and lyn repaired their relationship and their bigoted father is rotting in hell and they keep the bar and eddy's back too and everything is going better than ever, they told me so themselves <3

This post is a chaotic mess of stuff I don’t feel like writing a larger individual posts about. I mean they do connect, but it’s a connection like you get if you’re using a series of different methods to go from a -> b -> .... -> g rather than connected in the way of like, a and g are the same.
...what i mean is it’s not structured. Oh well.
So this ask really did send me down a rabbit hole. Because my first thought was, "Idk that she really looks like Griffith, she looks like Danann doesn't she?" So I pulled up that scene and then I get to this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Followed by Skull Knight having this sort of... strange romantic moment with Danann:
Tumblr media
And I mean, I did remember this happened - for a long time I've been kind of torn between thinking she is somehow the same person as the deceased lover (despite the lover in question being, well, explicitly deceased) or being just connected to her in some way. They even have similar titles - flowerstorm monarch, lady maiden of the cherry blossoms.
Anyway so I googled Danann, which brings me to the Tuatha de Danann, a supernatural race in Irish mythology. And I mean, I don't know much about Irish mythology at all so I'm sitting around reading it and some interesting things come up in the course of the basic bitch guide to Tuatha de Danann that is wikipedia's entry on them:
The Tuatha Dé Danann are described as a supernatural race, much like idealized humans, who are immune from ageing and sickness, and who have powers of magic.[1] The powers most often attributed to the Tuath Dé are control over the weather and the elements, and the ability to shapeshift themselves and other things.
So this reminds me of Schierke's initial belief that the Moonkid was an avatar of the Flowerstorm Monarch, which of course turned out to be Danann. Let's keep going.
They live in the Otherworld, which is described as either a parallel world or a heavenly land beyond the sea or under the earth's surface.[1] Many of them are associated with specific places in the landscape, especially the sídh mounds; the ancient burial mounds and passage tombs which are entrances to Otherworld realms.
Okay, kinda like how Elfhlem is beyond the sea and rooted, seemingly, by a tree such that when it was destroyed the island itself vanished. Continuing on.
In some tales, such as Baile in Scáil, a king receives affirmation of his legitimacy from one of the Tuath Dé.[1] In other tales, a king's right to rule is affirmed by an encounter with an otherworldly woman. It has been argued that the inauguration of Irish kings originally represented his ritual marriage to the goddess of the land (see sovereignty goddess).
See this is interesting to me because we have a woman who  looks just like Danann who was the lover of Gaiseric, a king who came out of nowhere (which is to say seemingly had no blood claim of "legitimacy"). And now the lover herself is gone, but there appears to be some kind fo connection between Skull Knight (Gaiseric) and Danann.
So like, if Danann can send avatars around, it's wholly possible that Gaiseric's lover was an avatar of Danann's, thus the feelings between them and the resemblance given that Danann was presumably not just wandering around the world as Gaiseric's lover, bc if she were, what's in the tomb?
The medieval writers who wrote about the Tuath Dé were Christians. Sometimes they explained the Tuath Dé as fallen angels; neutral angels who sided neither with God nor Lucifer and were punished by being forced to dwell on the Earth; or humans who had become highly skilled in magic. However, several writers acknowledged that at least some of them had been gods.
NEUTRAL ALIGNED FALLEN ANGELS. O.K. Potentially former gods. O. K.
The former thing is just thematically resonant with the series itself, but the latter thing is fascinating to me because some of the old Godhand were seemingly designed to resemble ancient Gods and Monsters, for example...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Artemis of the Ephesians...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or that guy who looks a lot like either the Chimera of Arezzo or Sumerian Lions or both.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whereas Beardo here seems to evoke certain depictions of Zeus or Poseidon, see the hair shape.
Which brings me back to the old theory that the world before Void's rise - the era that ended with the last set of 5 - was sort of aligned with the ancient world on Earth. This makes sense because obviously now that Griffith's around there's this sort of push against Polytheism as Griffith appears to embody the rise of monotheism. Also because the architecture of Gaiseric’s time echoes Hellenic design.
So then you'd have something like
The old God Hand's world - ancient Earth - seemingly full of magical beasts and gods, as has been referenced by Schierke so that makes sense. The current group's world - well, we see what it looks like. If we assume that the reincarnated Godhand of that time was Void (the fifth of one group, the first of the next), with his seeming to represent 0rationality in some way (he’s a sage, he’s a big flayed man with an exposed brain, his domain is just. brain matter.) then it kind of makes sense that this where you start seeing the suppression of the old world, the rise of the Holy See. Supernatural beings fall out of the physical realm and are confined to the astral realm, elves become invisible to most people, etcetc. Which brings us to Griffith’s world - its funny, he's said to create an "age of darkness," so that did make me sort of look up... the dark ages? Since Miura seemed to like referencing real world history and movements (in a mix and match fashion). This just reminded me that what we call the Dark Ages were actually a period of social, material and intellectual advances in which you started seeing universities founded, the christian doctrine of “equality under God” started to chip at class hierarchy, and technological developments thrived. And II thought...
Well that all sounds pretty on Brand for Griffith actually - his whole thing has always been breaking down class barriers, advancing people toward universal equality or at least a meritocracy, and well, he’s currently inventing public education. He also does appear to represent/embody the rise of monotheism as both he and the Holy See that symbolically serves him are involved in the persecution and execution of polytheists (in Griffith’s case for practical reasons, see Flora).
And then I thought, well, it wouldn’t be surprising if the term “age of darkness” was both meant to evoke the real historical period, which involved a lot of progress, and sound kind of sinister and foreboding. It makes sense, because Griffith himself is dual-natured and so is the world he’s creating: a nation of dignity, equality and enlightenment set inside a world so dangerous that it traps people inside that place.

augh i keep meaning to sit down and catch up on the burden of proof, bc i read chapter 1 and really enjoyed it, so now i'm here to commend you for the way you write kirumi's chronic pain <3 i know you have some experience with it as well, but i'm just,,,, so in awe of how well-written it is, especially combined with her neurodivergence and poor mental health-- how she has to keep going, pushing herself past her limits, despite the amount of pain she's in. also resisting taking her pain meds / continuing to push while waiting for them to kick in. gosh. [trembling and holding back tears] yeah </3
anyway just. love how you write. and since i am currently unable to leave a comment on the fic itself, just wanted to shoot ya an ask. love you very much. hope you're doing well <33
waaaahhh!! thank you, this means so much to me. 🖤🖤 having chronic pain myself and a myriad of other weird health issues, i really wanted to make sure this portrayal with kirumi was authentic and both relatable to those who deal with it in their daily lives and understandable to those who don’t. i’m really glad to hear that it resonated with you. :-) just goes to show that a little projection goes a long way, haha.
love you so so much as well, my dear friend. 🖤🖤

hihihi i wanna ask your perspective do you think jinx actually has no agency?? i remember seeing comments like that and i disagree bcs jinx never felt like a passive characrer, but im a bit confused bcs agency is when the character acts not just reacts and has their own ambitions/goals. jinx doesnt have personal goals of her own so would that automatically make her have no agency? she does rebel against her superior's wishes and does as she please but is that considered acting or reacting?
im very sure that agency works in more complex ways that is used for jinx's character that makes her feel more alive and active than any other character, i just dont know how to put my finger on it
she does have agency, I think the two reasons people remove her agency by either describing her like a passive character or saying she doesn't have any are:
a) we know the cause and effect of her choice, why she does the things she does and who influences her, jinx is probably the character we examine the most closely in arcane. but the fact that she's influenced by people around her and things that happened to her doesn't mean her choices aren't hers
b) the choices jinx makes are irrational and impulsive and not very good but they ARE internally consistent
in general, when we speak about character agency it means actions that affect the story, decisions that are meaningful within the story. jinx is really the main catalyst of most events in arcane, and you can trace it to specific choices such as going to the cannery to help out and setting off the monkey bomb or the whole finale that was set off just by her own actions. yes, they were influenced by other characters because these storylines have to interact and character arcs should overlap instead of being separate elements of one story but that doesn't mean they aren't HER choices and that they aren't pivotal to her character. a character doesn't need to be active all the time either, you can have things happen to them - like jinxs and vis parents dying or jinx being brought to singeds lab - and have their reactions to those things set off chains of events
agency in storytelling is a broad topic tho because some stories might be more unconventional - litfic might lean more passive in terms of characters (think about books where nothing happens like my year of rest and relaxation or a little life where things just kind of happen to the main character) while commercial fiction tends to follow broadly the storytelling beats we all know from blockbuster movies and fantasy books and whatnot
a character goal can also be something that isn't very specific, for example jinxs character goal is to keep people from abandoning her and that drives her actions - its not a specific goal like silco wanting independence for zaun or vi wanting to get jinx back but it is an emotional goal which can also be a story beat.
if you think of two lines going through a story you will have:
one line that is the plot so just the actual events of the story that happen in chronological order - these can include physical goals like idk, look at caitlyn and we see that we set off on a journey to get the stolen hex gem back and we go to stillwater to investigate or whatever. this would be the line where someone might not see the exact cause and effect and goals in jinxs character
a line that is a character arc, these are the emotional story beats and goals so using caitlyn again as an example - wanting to prove herself, connecting with vi, wanting to help vi and undercity etc etc will be the emotional threads that go through those plot beats. this is where majority of jinxs goals and motivations operate as she very marginally gives a fuck about zauns independence or hex gems - these are also the story beats that are most likely to resonate with the audience because you probably aren't out there saving the world but you've been lonely or abandoned or whatever before and you don't just understand those motivations, you can feel them on emotional level. this is also the layer of a story that will most likely look like ASS in your first drafts and if you're working on edits and think this shit sucks it's likely that something is not working in this layer
genuinely, character agency is really hard to define and write shshjs

I’m catching up on Yellowjackets because of you fics! And the adult timeline is kinda hilarious! As the season progresses I’m actually liking Misty more and more. After the whole plane transmitter thing I don’t think I’ll ever get why she would be anyone’s favorite character but she’s growing on me
Aw! I'm so glad my fics have gotten you to watch again! Season 2 definitely gave us an interesting adult timeline with a lot of great comedic moments and a lot of that was given to Misty, which as a huge lover of her from the start I was very happy about. But I wanna defend my girl here because you've given me the opportunity, lol (of course, you can think whatever you want you like, I'm not arguing or judging whatsoever, I just love Misty and like talking about her)
so, number 1 Misty Defender here to do some explaining, bc if actually been dying to talk about this.
Misty destroying the black box actually did nothing for the group's rescue. after doing a lot of digging and reading threads from people who work with plains and understand the science of black boxes (I'll tag them if I can track them down again) it's apparent that Misty's actions didn't hinder or help their chances of getting rescued, which is so interesting for her character!
the way a black box works (again, to my understanding after reading stuff from other people who know what they're talking about) is that its job is to collect data. It keeps track of cabin and general plane conditions over the course of the flight, as well as audio recordings so that when a crash is found, they have data to help understand what might have gone wrong. the only transmission that it has is specifically for water/ocean crashes, so it wouldn't activate in this situation. All of this info is from this post on the Yellowjackets Reddit
So Misty didn't actually hinder their rescue whatsoever, but she's been carrying the guilt of thinking she did for the past 25 years (and yes, Misty feels guilt. She just doesn't pay attention to it and suppresses it for herself.) And I think it'll be extremely interesting to see what the writers do, if anything, with the black box. because on one hand, it's entirely possible that the writers didn't look that deep into what a black box is, but on the other, it would be so interesting to see Misty learn that she hadn't done anything. That the 19 months they waited for rescue wasn't because of her like she'd been telling herself
Misty is just such a complex character that I will forever resonate with and adore, but she still makes me so sad. All of her actions are out of her own desperation for connection and relationship, and as someone who was also labeled as the class "weird girl" due to neurodivergence, I can't help the way I uphold her.

i have a kind of plot??? idea?? thought up about a ride the cyclone hunger games au, because i wanted angst and have been thinking abt the hunger games recently.
in the idea its the 25th hunger games, also known as the first quarter quell and the one where they vote the contestants in, because i think it would be a cool addition as it makes it a lot sadder. there could be a lot of bitterness about that
the main six get voted in from their districts, and end up in the hunger games. i don't have any solid districts in mind, but currently ocean is from one of the districts, maybe one ortwo, bcs her song is abt her being better and so she. should live which in my mind links to the careers and how the upper districts have a better relationship w the capitol other than three n look down on the other districts. mischa is from district eleven or nine bcs im p sure ukraine exports a lot of grain. noel is district twelve bcs i think he'd hate it, and it fits the whole let me. out this place is so stale and numbing, all dull and smokey and suffocating. ricky is from district three so i have a way to make it make sense that they have an aac. penny is from district ten because its the livestock district (livestock? lamb? get it? i'll stop now). and constance is from district eight bcs idk why not, or nine bcs grain makes bread and her family runs a bakery.
i will not lie i can only see karnak as the interviewer. sure hed work as a mentor but i keep seeing him as caesar (i think thats the interbiewers name). he has a flashy purple suit and a purple interview get up.
i have a few costume ideas but they r very basic and not that good tbh. pls keep in mind i have no sense of fashion
penny has a fluffy coat and white dress for the lamb imagery, it could fade into red to symbolise slaughter or smthn. red accents
noel's designer focuses heavily on smoke and he comes out in this dress type thing that looks like it leaves a trail of smoke when it flows. he def has a pipe as well.
rickys designer goes absolutely ham and creates an outfit worthy of the space age bachelor man. wires and funky colours and everything. very out there
ocean is dressed all smart and presentable, very put together. since i havent got a solid district i dont have many ideas
dont have many ideas for constance or mischa tbh
mischa's whole angle with the public is that he's strong and has motive to win in talia, so he has a fighting chance and more motive than the rest. ocean is portrayed as cocky and intelligent, and she will win because shes determined and won't let herself lose. penny is mysterious and odd, she stands out and makes an impression. constance is nice and charismatic and they use that to make the audience attached so they want her to win, and public approval is everything in the games. ricky is smart and crafty and his mentor tells him to lean heavily into that bcs ppl will write him off bcs hes disabled (in the au they let him keep his crutches which plays with canon a bit but i justify that with the capitol want things to be interesting and so at least try to keep the contestants alive. let them keep their crutches capitol pls). noel is interesting and they focus more on his ability to draw the audience rather than his ability in the arena, and his whole want to die tragically and want for things to be interesting is used to try and resonate with the capitol as a kind of "keep him alive he wont be boring promise pls dont kill him". idrc about the other tributes so they could be ocs or contestants from the book idk. theyre just sorta there.
i dont have many solid progression ideas, but basically one branch is nischa team up because i do in fact ship them. they talk briefly before the contest and sorta confront eachother in the arena but dont kill eachother, maybe one tells the others about poison berries or some other type of knowledge or they just see eachother and agree on a team up, and they go about in the arena trying to survive and defend themselves against the rest of the tributes. many injuries and bonding moments later and they make it fairly far. but since this was an au made with angst in mind at least one of the two dies, and the other gets all guilty about it. it can be. this big dramatic thing and if we're going the romantic route it could be they confess their love right on the brink of death and the other just has to deal with that finishing the games. sat grieving a love they can never explore or see through because the other died in their arms.
ngl this whole idea came about because i imagined nischa in the arena and noel dying and having this whole angsty moment in his death where he makes mischa promise to win and get back to talia. or he was like dying from an injurt and mischa refused to just leave and tried to drag him and there was angst about how noel truly didnt think he was ever gonna win anyway and how hes glad he met mischa and got to have at least some good before he died.
also ive thought of multiple conversations where they talk about why they want to go back and mischa obviously wants to go back for talia and his mother (in this au shes not dead yet but she is dying) but noel doesnt rlly see anything for himself and just sorta wants to die interesting. also their mentors were definitely screaming at eachother to just stab the other when they sleep or smthn.
doesnt rlly link to the past paragraph but i like to think noel got his hands on some old books about france and paris somehow and thats how monique came about. hes very careful abt mentioning this in the arena bcs they can and will murder his mother for that im p sure books from before are forbidden in panem oops.
theres so many angst oppourtunities as well. you could go down so many routes. fear from almost dying. guilt from killing someone. physical pain. anguish. the shock catching up to the contestants. the realisation theyre about to die. because theres no way in hell any of the choir was genuinely ready to kill someone or watch someone die. so much angst.

THAT CHAPTER 2 UPDATE WAS EVERYTHING! The way the push and pull between them is so strong and how he doesn’t know when to quit playing the mind games and how he might even do it subconsciously but Becky ain’t about to be about that. What is his problem offering her money at the end, men are such idiots, I got so upset for her!!! I can’t wait for the next update, seeing him possibly meet Ruth who is just like her mama in the stubborn sense and is protective of her but Elvis might get on with her. Big Daddy Elvis is everything and I love that she’s young but not so young (19,20,21) that she’s naive and innocent about everything. She’s a 27 year old woman who takes care of her daughter and gets her shit done ✅ and when he called her thick and kept touching her butt I melted (more specifically because people never call me skinny bc i’m not but at the same time i can’t call myself big necessarily because then friends i have that are a bit bigger get upset with me so im at that awkward stage where i am not toned at all and i jiggle but unless its sexualized ppl just wave u off my insecurities probably make no sense sorry) moving on then he gets insecure about being bigger and she reassures him and he was so jealous when she was playing the guitar with another man he has a fox and he’s not gonna be able to tame her the way he does those other girls!
Dear Anon,
Hey sweet lady/person/earth-bound mortal, thank you for telling me your thoughts about this chapter. I fuck myself in the head when I am writing so i really appreciate you. I read that Elvis really used to do that shit, yes, he would give people gifts like cars, jewelry, etc. But, at least according to those he left behind, he would just give women who he was seeing money. And random strangers every now and then. And they would take it. I think I might have, cuz I need it, but I am not sure, I would have felt dirty, especially if we were in a sexual relationship. And I also like to pay for things, I hate how some guys pay for everything on a date but then act entitled. So yeah, Becky is a grown up - she is still finding herself, in many ways, she feels like she zoomed ahead in time and hasn't figured out a lot things people her age usually have bc she got knocked up young, but even then, she pulled up her big girl pants and did what needed to be done, which is kind of her attitude. I love OCs who are imperfect but still beautiful, bc i just feel i relate more , they're thick, stubborn, strong, and know themselves, at least somewhat, even if they sometimes also bend to a man, they cannot completely subsume themselves... or go baack and forth... are you living in my head? Bc the next chapter is all about Elvis getting to know Ruth and Becky's family :) Raise a glass for us thick girls, and keep in touch - i love knowing what resonates with y'all, it really does help me decide how to write what comes next...

My Vedic breakdown of Amberlynn Reid bc why not
Magha moon women when I say there is an immense breadth of archetypes our nakshatra contains? I mean it bc tell me why I just found out she's a Magha moon?!
And she's a very Ketuvian woman which explains the vast black-hole like nature of her personality/identity. Honestly, her mannerisms and personality have always felt rather empty in a way I've always resonated with and this explains just that. Ketu is intrinsically lacking and empty. Ketu is also the headless nakshatra so that contributes to the airhead narrative of hers lol. Sometimes this airheadness could just be a front but other times it is sincere. I think in her case it's definitely a front esp with other placements of her considered.
Her being a Magha moon specifically makes a lot of sense too. Our family, our ancestors, our lineage take precedence in the story of our lives. It is the overarching plot of our lives. And it's well known she has a deeply troubled family history that still haunts her to this day. But Magha is also known for rising above the family, as well. Honouring the family name/lineage by ascending above them eventually. Which I would say is also the case for her. She's made a life for herself that would've been once deemed unthinkable of by them.
And she has a lot of Mula too. Mula is most associated with destruction and revival (transformation) which directly parallels "the cycle" we all attribute to her. Funnily, both Mula and Magha are spiritually devoted nakshatras but this aspect didn't manifest at all into her life with her being an atheist. Typically there is also an interest in the esoteric but she seems to have a shallow interest at most in those things (e.x. her brief tarot card phase). My theory is that I think its her Jyestha that keeps her in the material world and away from these aspects of life.
I think her 3rd house of communication being ruled by a Krittika mars is also interesting. Mars has an aggressive way of communicating and Krittika (bc its deity is the fiery Agni lol) supports that way of talking which is why she often comes off as abrasive, argumentative and/or confrontational. Said Mars is also in her 4th house of family life which lines up with having a destructive childhood as she's prev. brought up.
Everything going on in her 6th house explains her weight and her general struggle with it.
Sun in 10H plus the 11H stellium explains her unconventional but fruitful career and the kind of infamy she's garnered. Her Jyestha sun in the 10H there def makes her a controversial character via her work.
As for her love life, she's most definitely marrying/settling down with a woman - no doubt about it lol. Too many points in her chart towards liking feminine energy + her moon in the 7H of spouse + even more interestingly, her Venus (which would be her spouse significator as a lesbian) sits in the 11H which can imply a spouse with a big social network OR meeting spouse online (alr her pattern lol) OR a spouse with an online presence (which we kinda see w/ her gfs having somewhat of an online presence due to her). I think the woman she settles down with will have an online presence like her - either bc she alr has it or will embrace the lifestyle when they get tg. So wifey was def NOT the one imo. I also think she'll be similar to her spouse in personality. I think this bc of her Venus in Mula (spouse significator) is alike to the rest of her fiery placements. So def not an opposites attract situation either. The other spouse significator is the DK and that remains to be her Mula Venus. So her spouse will def be a Venusian Mula/Ketu type. Which is awfully like the rest of her chart so this is why I think her spouse will have a similar feel to her (at least in personality). As for the nature of the marriage (if that ever happens): because the moon is in the marriage/spouse house I think there will be ups and downs, and it will bring a lot of emotions out of her regularly.
To note another thing about her love life as Jyestha sun ... it explains sm abt how she is as a gf. Jyestha is kind of controlling and self-righteous (on its shadow side). But also quite passionate and jealous. Breakups feel like the end of the world to them LOL. Which is most definitely what she's like romantically. And another thing is that a lot of the community likes to make fun of is the fact that she seems to imitate whoever she dates/take on their personality and I would attest that to all her Ketu.
Significant Ketu in a person like I said makes one empty and a lot like a black hole in nature so often what we do to cope with this socially is to mimic others. In fact, more so than it being a self-coping mechanism, it’s smth we do to make other ppl feel comfortable interacting with us. We inherently ..... do not care abt anything in truth lol. We’re intrinsically detached from it all but a more self-aware Ketu native will realise that will come off as odd to others so those of us with that awareness will try to act in a way that throws ppl off from realising/discovering this emptiness in us. And we find that it's easiest for us to do so by mimicking/imitating whoever we interact with as it requires the least amount of effort/thought on our part.
So this is where I will conclude my Amberlynn Reid deep dive LOL.

It’s d.c. anon back after a mental health breakkkk 😎😎 and I have more thoughts lol
first, I cannot take credit for this as I saw it on Twitter, but it RESONATED. Having CM come to svu to play the hallucination of an emt after Olivia’s car accident was a misuse of budget lol. I can’t remember (so correct me if I’m wrong) but he wasn’t in the rest of the ep, and as far as I know it didn’t do anything to advance the eo plot? Idk. Just a random thing I saw and was like YES. only bc that’s the reason we get sometime when we talk about crossovers…the budget… but like…why? LOL
Second, we know the general consensus is oc season 3 is a dumpster fire. BUT I actually like that we cut off the casino story line to focus on the Vaughn story and then went back to casino? Thoughts? I know it’s probably bc of the show runner turnover but, happy accident?
Lastly, I remembered the other day that when I was in college I had a HUGE crush on one of my guy friends. Idk if it was what I thought love was at that age and Idk if it was obvious to anyone else or to him but eventually he hooked up with my best friend at the time. And this gutted me. I spent the night ugly crying to my roommate and lied about the reason I was crying bc I was so embarrassed of the real reason. I bring this all up to say that at the time, I couldn’t control myself or my emotions and how STRONG Olivia has had to be for herself alone, with not many people there to let in and see her vulnerable. About the trust of others that is not there since the pattern has always been the same and I’m heartbroken for her
before we dive in - good for you for taking a mental health break. that shit is so important and all the stuff we do online can be fun but it can also do damage and I'm glad you took a step back and are ready to return now!
no it is such a good point and I have to wonder if like. were there contract discussions about the number of times he'd turn up in svu beforehand? was wet lettuce told he had to include Elliot somewhere in that episode and that was what he came up with? I wouldn't put it past him, the twat,
yes, this season has been a dumpster fire and yes I liked that we cut away for the random arc in the middle. I don't think I would've liked it if it came in the middle of the Albanian arc, where oc was actually telling a really good, interesting, cohesive story and it would've felt like a distraction, but in the middle of this mess that I didn't care about at all, the one off with vaughn was actually much more interesting and fun. the casino arc has been trash so I was just glad to not have to deal with it lmao but it would be interesting to see if they use this structure again and how that unfolds in the future
Olivia has had to be strong but Olivia has also chosen to isolate herself in many ways. Olivia has chosen to keep a lot of her feelings to herself on purpose as a matter of self-protection, which a lot of us do, not bc she's embarrassed and not bc she doesn't want to be a burden and not bc she doesn't want to cause a scene but bc her biggest fear is being seen as vulnerable. she absolutely does not want that, she will cut off her own arm before she lets someone else see her weak. so for her keeping all her emotions to herself and not confiding in people is actually easier than reaching out. that has become her comfort zone. it does more harm than good in the long run but we all get stuck in behaviors that hurt us from time to time. it will take all of her strength to be vulnerable, and there's really only one person left she will be honest with. and I for one desperately want to see that.
