If my mom sees a significant amount of blood she gets lightheaded, and has fainted on some occasions. Once it happened when we were kids, I wasn't there to witness it but I heard the story from my dad. Basically my brothers, around 7 or 8 at the time, were playing outside while my mom was making their lunch, and she accidentally cut her finger. It wasn't anything serious, but it drew a fair bit of blood and she passed out. My dad saw this and rushed over, but he didn't really know what to do so he just sort of started slapping her to wake her up (not recommended, but he had no idea and panicked)

At that exact moment my brothers both came in from playing, and all they saw was our mom unconscious on the floor and our dad slapping her. So, like, without even saying a word to each other they both just INSTANTLY start whaling on him, like, full blown attack mode to defend our mom. Which obviously didn't help the situation, but she did wake up and everything was fine.

Now our dad says that he's actually really glad they attacked him over what they thought was going on, because it means he raised good boys. And I still think that's true, they're very good boys.

I'm so happy we finally got more of a backstory and a happy ending for Namsom and Kor in City of Stars, even if some of the flashbacks were super painful to watch.

There's this part when that horrible, hateful aunt is being intentionally cruel and transphobic, and I think the translator did a really good job of substituting cultural differences and a lack of gendered pronouns by having the aunt intentionally misgender Namsom:

Still, I don't think the subs quite manage to bring across how incredibly rude and hurtful and transphobic (and homophobic too btw) she really is.

Because in Thailand/Theravada Buddhism sons often ordain for a few weeks or months to honour their parents/family. This isn't expected of daughters. See where this is going?*

(*That being said, some conservative temples/monasteries might not want trans or queer people in general to ordain either because they view queerness as a distraction and/or a bad karma.)

Then there's this bit where the English subs again intentionally use the wrong pronouns but in the Thai original the horrible aunt calls Namsom a slur (tut/ตุ๊ด - which afaik is used for [effeminate] men only) along with kathoey (กะเทย - which is NOT a slur, even if that horrible woman meant it that way) - making it very clear what exactly she thinks of her.

And later, when Namsom tells Kor that she is kathoey (and negl that scene almost broke my heart for so many different reasons 😭), she shows him her ID card.*

Currently there is no way for trans folk in Thailand to change their legal sex, meaning that whenever they have to show any kind of ID (which afaik happens quite often in professional environments) they automatically out themselves. The marriage equality bill that's currently underway will hopefully change that soon. 🙏

(*This was also a plot point in My Ride when one of the moto-taxi drivers discovered that his crush was trans when he found her purse - and he didn't care either. 🥰)

They'll also appear in the game — though you won't necessarily get to meet them. I can't say too much because of spoilers but for the most part, they'll both show up during Ren's flashback scenes, as well as in one of the four main endings (depending on the choices you make).

Celebrations had always been an interesting thing to observe. There were some that seemed to apply to large amounts of people- holidays that entire towns would decorate for, festivities that would seem to allow the entire world a reason for pause. But there were others that worked on a smaller scale, and birthdays were one of them. Birthdays, as Angel had learned, oftentimes required a personal visit- because the presence of one person was to be celebrated, and cherished above all else. Clearly one of her usual drop-offs wouldn't do, not one bit.

So Angel was currently seated in a chair in Nina's kitchen, waiting for the cake she'd put in the oven to finish baking. (She had read somewhere that cakes were the norm for birthdays on Earth- but there had been so many recipes that she'd opted to go for simple vanilla.)

A wrapped box sits on Nina's countertop, with a stuffed animal waiting inside. Angel had figured it would be difficult to find a cat plush at a placed called "Build-A-Bear," especially considering Nina would have rather de-feathered her than gone to a place teeming with children to build it herself- but the selection there had been nice enough for Angel to pick a black cat, which would do very nicely.

This 'dream' however... amidst the others filed in her brain under chaotic, this one was just.. odd.

Sitting up to breached security alerts via her phone, contradicting following viewed footage ; No living intruders to be seen, just foreign objects and a misplaced chair... yet still more than enough the force the assassin to slither out of bed. When most might slip on a robe, she was slipping a piece from her nightstand drawer. Wielding it even as her nose heeded the sickly sugared stench disturbing the condo, slowly down the chevalier. Azures tracking the sole light in the dark until silent steps could halt at it's source.

....Angel was in her kitchen.

Angel was in her kitchen... baking.

And yet for a moment the fellow blonde just stared. Apathy, if laced with anything then perhaps fatigue, resting upon ivory.

This wasn't her first meeting with the winged and ethereal. At least this one she felt safe setting her gun down around, left atop the table as she walked past her guest, unbuttoned sleep shirt and all, and opened one of the few cabinets housing occupants. Ones with well acquainted names.

I wanna start dressing more butch again, I'll probably like go back to more femme eventually as is the case, but I feel like I need to pull my walls back up again and how I present kinda reflects that. I need to just stop caring about the hypotheticals and realizing that not only do people not that the right to inherently know my thoughts and opinions on things but also that many will not understand them anyway.
