I avoided this for a while because of the aforementioned Papyrus Being Dead thing, but HOT DAMN I'm glad I read it in the end. Delightfully horrifying, but it gets sweet I swear!!! I don't know much about Tokyo revengers other than it has a time loop (?) story telling device , and I go nuts for that trope so I was thinking of giving it a go. I was surprised to read that you kinda didn't like it at all hahah and as I think your tastes align a lot with mine (skip to loafer, no home, dorohedero my beloved) I'd love to hear more in depth what you didn't like, to know if I should give it a go or not. If I had to guess, considering it's a shonen, it might be because of the way girls are treated (first reason I'm dropping manga), but I wouldn't want to presume.

hi hi! ah, tokyo revengers, my old enemy. i know tokyorev sounds interesting in terms of premise, but the problem with this manga lies in the execution, not the premise itself. like yeah, who doesn't like time traveling. and you're time traveling to save your childhood gf and friends? cool! and there's gangs! hell yeah! well. i wish it was as simple as that. first, if you're a big fan of time loops and time travel then you'll probably hate tokyorev lmao. the rules are all over the place. there is zero consistency, the time travel mechanics don't make sense at all. the more new information that gets added, the messier it gets. by the end of the manga it's just... like it's SO obvious the author is pulling stuff out of his ass. it has one of the most (if not THE most) ridiculous endings i've read in my life. you mentioned female characters and yeah, that's an issue too. but honestly when the writing is that bad... what can you expect. all female characters are there for emotional support, or for the men to cry when they die, they're always someone else's sisters, gfs, ex-gfs, etc. i think wakui tried to do something with senju...? (and failed!). basically she showed up for a while then disappeared iirc. anyway yeah, he can't write women. or more like he avoids writing women. but as i said, it's not like the male characters have a lot going for themselves. to this day i still don't know wtf was going on with mikey (won't say what i'm referring to in case anyone still wants to read it after i hit this manga with rocks repeatedly but if you did read it, you know what i mean). to me it was just boring overall. the characters couldn't be less interesting, and the point of the manga is that the mc has to SAVE them. so imagine what it feels reading a manga where these guys have to live and you just don't gaf about them. plus the author doesn't know what he's doing with the plot... man it's just a mess. and yes i read it until the very end. sometimes you just have to keep going to be an informed hater

I remember when my ex's young niece (I can't remember how old she was, four or five maybe) was killed, it's been at least five or six years now, and while I was never that close with his family in general, I still do remember the times I was over at his house for the parties where a low of his family was there and I got to play with his niece and, even though we weren't very close, I still remember her tiny smile and laugh

It just… makes him sick to think about, you know? For a child who had their whole life ahead of her, someone who had so many people who love her, to be taken out of the world in an instant, it’s unfair. He’s in shock from the news, not only for (Name) and her emotions, but also likely because he’d undoubtedly met her niece. Played with her, spoke to her, sang her songs, looked after her. Even if it wasn’t a long time since they met, he still had a bond with the little girl. There’s no way he’s leaving his beloved’s side, no matter what that means. He’ll hold her and do anything she needs him to do. He has no words of comfort to offer except for something that tastes hollow coming out of his mouth: “At least she’s not suffering anymore. She’s with God now, my love.” Whether or not that’s any solace depends on his S/O. Regardless, he’s here for her. He’s not going anywhere, and if she didn’t know before that she could count on him in times of extreme stress, she knows now that she can.

How, but…? He just saw (Niece) the other day. This isn’t right… it can’t have happened so quickly, can it? He gets hit harder with shock than his S/O, because he’s almost in denial that she’s gone. It’s no question that he’s been around that little girl, gently teasing her and impressing her with his fencing and things like that. Despite that she wasn’t his blood, she was close enough. His focus rapidly shifts from his own feelings to (Name)’s, because after all, this was her niece. She was closer to that child than he was, she spent more time with her. This must be devastating, so he makes sure he’s there for her. He makes sure Phipps and John and Ash can handle everything for Her Majesty, then Grey takes his darling home. If anyone so much as makes a comment that it was ‘only’ her niece (“be thankful it wasn’t your daughter or something, then you’d really be sad”), they’ll find themselves staring down his sword. Whatever she needs him to do, he’ll do it. No questions, no judgment, just support.

Fuckin’… that just ain’t right. It’s not. Everyone else can tell him till they’re blue in the face that the universe works in mysterious ways and all that shite, but that doesn’t change the fact that he doesn’t think an aunt should have to bury her niece, or a mother her daughter. That little girl probably knew him as ‘Uncle Ronnie’, because he loves children and was very friendly with her. Although he might have kept his distance from (Name)’s family in general, because he doesn’t want to put them in danger just by being near them, he came around often enough to know (Niece); he’d always have a piece of candy in his pocket when he knew he’d be visiting his S/O, just in case (Niece) happened to be there too. It makes him angry and sad and he knows he shouldn’t be angry because it was an accident. He just sort of wants someone to blame. Having someone to blame makes it easier… only he knows it really doesn’t. He’ll actually go so far as to shirk his duties completely, (when usually he at least half-asses them) so that he can comfort (Name). He’s bad with comfort, though, so she’s… she’s got to tell him what she needs. If she does that, he’ll make it happen. This is just such a mess, he doesn’t want her to go to a dark place she can never come back from.

… Tragedy. Awful, Goddamn, bloody tragedy. That’s the only word for it that he can conjure up. That’s the only word that exists for something like this. Cases where he had to reap the soul of a child are those which are burned into his brain from his previous work, and burned in further are the children’s funerals he’s presided over in his current work. He hates it. The loss of a little one is something he feels so heavily, no matter who that child was. ‘There’s always a reason for these things,’ the higher-up Reapers would tell him, but he can’t believe that. He remembers (Niece) all too well, the way he would play with her and tell her jokes and sit in on her tea parties when his darling had her around. He tries so hard to be brave for her, whisking her to privacy and offering to her family that he’ll take care of everything for (Niece)’s funeral; no payment of any kind necessary. (He never takes any payment for the little ones, anyway.) And he makes sure to take care of everything, keeping his S/O fed and cleanly dressed and whatever else she needs. She’s going to be able to grieve in peace, dammit. At the same time… this is the inspiration behind his Bizarre Dolls, that grief, a perfect subject. Who would deserve to be brought back from death, if not a child whose life was taken too soon? He’s… simply not sure if he can bring himself to corrupt his precious (Name)’s beloved niece in that way.

Season 2, Episode 1: Sanctuary (or quem patronum rogaturus)

Have you family Spartan? Have you faith?

In which I try to recall what happened in season 1, our characters are reintroduced (this time with more character), John MasterChief goes to the saddest brothel of all time while he and the show deal with the impossibility of serving two masters.

In 2022, I waded unknown water for my internet best friend @sonofcarnelian who had done the same for me with the likes of Frank Herbert's Dune and Bridgerton season 1 (two properties often paired). Readers of my posts will remember that I have absolutely no experience with Halo, aside from it's place in pop culture.

Therefore, we represented the core audiences they were looking to appeal to in season; big fans and no nothings. 

I enjoyed Halo season 1 a great deal, probably because I had no expectations beyond bonding with my friend. Even more surprisingly, I got both of my parents invested in it, and they liked it even more than me. Less surprisingly, both my beloved mutual and my brother, fans of the franchise already, were less impressed. 

Due to this, season 2 is in the same position as last season, but this time in reverse. Last season I wrote about how decisions were made to appeal to a wider audience; taking off that helmet, female characters and characters of color introduced (not that I know there are none in the games, I do not, I just know they almost always have them helmets ON), romance, we see JMC’s ass a couple times, human characters in the covenant etc. This season we are telling the established audience of video game fans that yes others are here, but we have not forgotten you. And I can not speak to the effectiveness of this maneuver, that is for my cohort, but I can speak to how they are attempting this balance. So far, the attempt is clumsy, but I have seen it done worse.

The first season began with Kwan as our POV character, a young woman from the planet Madrigal which was about to be overtaken with the Covenant, who are ugly cgi creatures, until she was rescued by John MasterChief and the UNSC took over Madrigal. I think. 

Season 2, aside from a cold open, which we'll get to, is this situation inside out. JMC and silver team (who consist of Kai, who has a little crush on JMC, but also got a very suggestive haircut in season 2 so we'll see and the other two who last season Did Not Matter) are on babysitting duty after the dramatic end of last season (they went rogue, John MasterChief had sex, his gf returned to being evil and died, it was a whole thing). We are then introduced to a group of religious people who do not want to leave this planet which is about to be glassed. Glassing is not a thing that happened last season, there was a ground battle on Madrigal, but after conferring with my brother who knows the games, this is much more in the fashion of what usually happens. Here we begin the three pronged status quo change which was deeply jarring to me but we're supposed to believe the show has always been like this:

The Covenant are the main threat: last season was about John MasterChief and his awakening as a full person, realizing that the people he served lied and manipulated him. While the covenant was present; Makee (ex gif) was covenant and they killed people, this was not the driving tension of last season.

Religion: again, the covenant were religious and Kwan had a family tradition, this season has religion as a central piece. Beyond connecting us to Earth (when that one foot soldier said he was a Baptist I was SHOCKED like baptist-baptists? Papist, we let baptist go to space?) I do not yet no the purpose of this, but it is interesting texture.

Secondary characters matter now: Last year the following characters mattered: JMC, Kwan, Halsey, Kai, Miranda, Makee, Soren and that is IT. And aside from those first three, their connections to John MasterChief mattered more than anything about them. Here we have bonding between Kai and Vannak (he has removed his pellet and has been very interested in animal planet, which is nice!) and as we go, our pool of characters continues to grow, as does their connections to each other. Hooray!

When questioned if JMC has family or faith he recommits to his team, both silver team and general ground troops. He goes off to see hey why the fuck are comms out and uh-oh sister, the convenant is here! prowling about, taking out their comms. Already, to me, the fight seems better but as we found out last year I don't know what makes an action scene good. The covenant at least look less uncanny valley. JMC teams up with Perez, the last of her unit, and just as JMC and Perez are overwhelmed and surely doomed, they back away, FOR SHIPPING REASONS MAYBE? because that is my girl Makee in the fog for real let's go Reylos let's go. He's hearing her voice in the shower girls!

We get another shot of JMC half dressed but it is not hot, he is way too ripped and it's like buddy! are you okay. We also saw him like this in the cold open where they ripped out Cortana and both John MasterChief and the audience are feeling her absence. We are also introduced to our new Halsey, His name is Ackerson and he gives Silver team the "I'm not trying to replace your mom" spiel, we can only hope that means he too is fucking Keyes.

Last season, I detailed a lot of ex Spartan Soren, his high camp wife and little son and oof it's not going great for them, and it's really boring. Soren, after being a good guy and helping Kwan, has lost favour with the pirates and ultimately gets super betrayed by his crew and a space cop who he should have clocked immediately because he talks like Samwise Gangee. Also Kwan is at Soren's house now and is scaring his kid in a cave. So that's fun.

Meanwhile Ackerson is trying to gaslight (glasslight? is this anything?) by step-dadding the hell out him with false concerns over his mental health and allusions to his lost gfs (Cortana, Makee and Halsey, who of course is also his mom love that). The party line is that JMC did not see the Covenant and is crazy. Silver team is out of commission and Cobalt team is being sent out like there is nothing going on. This makes JMC naturally very anxious so he GOES TO A DIGITAL BROTHEL TO HANG OUT WITH FAKE CORTANA I LOVE THIS SHOW. Love how the AI is insecure. Love he wears a hoodie. Love that we're giving Reach, and the population of Reach City some color with a Red/Blue light district. Good stuff

Time will tell whether the balancing of two audiences will work; my biggest apprehensions are about the quality of the character writing and balancing our subplots, but tbh? I will forgive all plot holes if they keep giving me high camp.

But what will my cultured friend say? I'm very excited to see!

Akaashi's pov We were all moving in together one more night separated okay i could see bokuto from my window as me and him currently are at our childhood homes but it was one more night and all four of us will be living under one roof As i thought about i looked over to my beloved emo Owl is he in emo mode now i grabbed a not book then to grab his attention i knocked on my window and held up my book that said are you okay? I watched as he scribbled his answer and showed me No:(

Joined the Depths of Scrolls Tournament which to fight for a ‘special’ prize and Agreement of Odds which were filled with tourney fighters of any race, humans, monsters, gods, creatures of any thing. Their group was formed in the AoO era. She works by a 5-Star bar at night time after her shift of killing in the tournament finishes. The bar holds performances for Chelle to participate in. Every contestant can join in no riot nor discord, literally. It’s only in morning they fight.She’s sweet, a darling, a gentle, polite, and innocent lady to talk to and meet. The way she dresses defines her, an elegant woman of fashion. The very first man she met was a sailor.. A zombie sailor. They formed an alliance to become independent and meet knew people along the way. The sailor was with a cyborg teen. They fought with eachother throughout the tourney and had eachother’s backs no matter what. She always has this cherry blossom perfume.. And oh! Chelle is rich, she gets paid good. She has a large white mansion. Chelle has a gardening/flower/plant and plushie addiction, so expect to see those in her home. Just saying, this lady is very talented and polite. Other than the violin, she can play the lyre, ukelele, piano, guitar, and flute, but she only mainly uses her violin since it her favorite instrument. She can also sing, of course! Everytime she’s outside, she always wields her violin case and her large black parasol with her! Her little Nintendo looking robot always trails behind her, irritated as it was. It’s name was Beepzkii. An assistant who’s intelligent and gullible.

Her way of fighting goes like this: She might seem calm when attacked, then she opens her parasol infront of the enemy's eyes, blinding them. The tip of her large black parasol was VERY sharp, so it DOES cause pain to people. After that, the enemy might mistake her still being behind the parasol, but noooo! She's gone! Well, actually, she jumped really high on the air. She jumps, raising her skirt up to exchange her violin case to her beloved sniper. The weapon was strapped onto her thigh real tight, hoping it wont really fall and she'd make fun of herself out in the tourney.  Her knee-high socks secretly have some ammo an bullets in them if she loses any, so she just reloads her sniper mid air. Then after that silliness, she does a spin in the air, preparing to shoot and aiming for either the head or the chest, or just any part just hoping it'll injure them in some other way. Even if she lands, she doesnt care if her skirt was still raised up and her underwear could be seen because of the wind and the motion of falling, to her its a live or death situation. She was smart for her tactics, only planning it herself! She WOULD use her violin to fight too, just depends!

The zombified sailor, The Mariner: A charming, handsome, and flirtatious zombie sailorman.. Well, it’s quite hard to tell if he was a zombie. He was very pale white, his right arm having a scar. He and his crew got eaten by a whale in one of his expeditions and as a revenge to his opposing enemy, his father. The crew was eaten alive, yet him and his father were left, he killed him as to avenge his mother’s task and quest for the young boy after being a street urchin for so long. (He was starving, so he ate his father.) Surprisingly, after 1,220 years (he was 23 that time), the whale died and exploded in the ocean, him arriving to the island of the tourney, a tournament for humans, mythical creatures, creatures, and anything, the Agreement of Odds. He was insane and handsome for a man like him. He looks the same age to when he died, a charming young man he is. He’s talented himself, he can sing really good and can compose a song for any woman he loves. After a breakup with his Ex-gf after finding out she cheated on him and stole his unreleased music and singing it to the man that the girl was cheating on, he was ballistic. He was mad and pissed, as if he wasted a lot of time on writing love songs for her, A LOT of love songs. He can woo any woman and play with their feelings if he wanted to, yet chose not too since he knew what it felt to be played around. He can write poems and sonnets under a span of 1 minute if you asked him to, he dedicates his heart to what he writes. When he was walking the streets after the breakup, he meets this woman with long spiky raven hair and a white turtleneck with long black skirt. He was still pissed, but after walking and chatting with her, he figures they were both going to the same place, a bar by the block. He learnt that she works as a special musician there which amazed him and they talk about collaborating in singing. After some weeks, he never saw her again which led him to missing her, yet going on to do the quest he was tasked by his mother. Who knows he’ll meet her again, the sweet lady he met last time. This happened before the whale incident, which indicates he was still a human when she met this mysterious lady. He’s a professional mariner and sailor by the sea. He can only play the guitar after learning how to play it when he was still a human. Most of the women loved and had a crush on him in the town he once lived before at even if he was poor. He was making money by singing and all, and by cleaning the church at night.  After joining the tournament and getting washed over by the sea of the tourney island, he meets this cyborg girl who was cocky and hyper. To him, she was very annoying. Once they got along and agreed to make an alliance, they were walking on the streets at night not until he spots someone who looked familiar to him.. This pretty lady who was holding a violin case and a closed parasol. They walked up to her and she was quite nice, he likes it.. Again, he felt familiar, her scent, her smile, and her face, yet he couldn’t wrap a finger on who it was. He just shrugged it off and became allies with her, developing a small crush on her as time went on. His way of fighting: He uses his slick words to woo the person, man or woman, whatever. Or maybe he also uses the appeal of him just a ‘weak and mere’ human being, appearing as weak and revealing as a zombie. He fights them with a large rusty machete which was meant for him and was brought with him inside the whale, and an oldschool revolver he uses. He’s skilled and can come up with a fighting strategy on spot.

Pvt. General Ivan “Eva” His statue was dedicated for a real general who used to rule the island where the tournament was always held at. He took part in everything and won every fight and war he went through with a straight and stoic face. It was slightly poorly made, the statue being officially finished made in 1932. 7 months and 3 days was all it took. Gathering of resources was hard to do, because, again, the island was poor before. Well, not until someone had to revise and recreate the islet to become better and successful and lose the title of poverty in their name. He died in the age of 31 as a human in war and in sacrifice. The living statue roams the streets and takes care of the city by night time. His soul was trapped in that special statue dedicated to him. Yes, he can move at daylight, but just stays at the stage he was supposed to be at. Despite his pale skin and military attire, he's tall and his hair color was just like that when he was born, a pale blonde color. He ruled the place with bravery and pure leadership. A historic figure the island couldn't ever forget no matter what. He joined the tourney to avenge some old soldiers he was bestfriends with, that explains his cold personality. Yes, he’s still a bachelor, no wife, no girlfriends, nothing. Just his job in patrolling and defending the island was his main thing in life. He used to be carefree and sweet, yet it all changed after this one specific war, a planned massacre from a different country. He was traumatized, so he bottled everything up to himself as time went by. He was a true gentleman himself, respecting women. He used to do those sweet ball dancing with a woman he used to love before, yet hearing the news she died had made him very lonely. As he was patrolling, he sees a group of 3. He was suspicious of them so he told the three to halt. They were pleading him to join their alliance, he just scoffs and rolls his eyes. He didnt want to join, yet their group had potential in succeeding together in battle, so he just joined. He felt irritated for the first day, but as the weeks pass by, he softened up to them and accepted them just like how they accepted him as he was welcomed as the 4th group member. He was very close to Chelle and Mariner, seeing them as new bestfriends in his life which he was happy about. His way of fighting: Well, hes the first one to approach the person who he’s going to fight. His stature and aura would make ANYONE feel uneasy. Even if he was a statue, he was quick and flexible, almost as if he was human. He can either fight with his gun or hand to hand. His fists are incredibly hard and heavy, saying that if he hits you in the head, your head will immediately bleed because of it.. Interesting..

Cloudoob “Hex” Viper: An insane hyperactive teen who’s website lover. She’s the type to love vibrant colors and the 2000′s style. She AGAIN used to be human. She was tortured and scientists took lab tests on here that were painful. They removed her ears and replaced it with some designed ones that looked like headphones, I mean, the replaced one was better, it can hear anything, even a whisper. She can adjust the volume in her head. She was also added with a USB tail, containing EVERY memory she had, pictured and videos. You can access these memories if she allows you to plug it in a laptop, yet you have to gain her trust. In her human times, age of 5,, she used to have straight black hair and she used to be calm and collected, unlike her short sharp hot pink hair and her snarky smug attitude now, Online, she’s known as a fangirl. Her green goggles are very hi-tech and can detect anything. She came with a LARGE hammer which was named HammerBot, but to her, she calls it Bottie. Bottie is the opposite of Cloud. Bottie’s a he, he was programmed to have a male AI voice which glitches. The first person she met was the Mariner and agreed to have an alliance with him after begging for God knows how much. He can have hissy fits sometimes if Cloud does something insane or stupid. He’s mature and is the upper hand in their friendship. He is a digital hammer, the scientists who took tests on her were the ones who made it specially for her. The stickers and the designs were soon then added by Cloudoob since it fits her. Surprisingly, Bottie allowed her to do it after losing a bet they made.He can hover around and float. Her way of fighting: It comes in different ways and different tactics. Since Bottie can float, he can be of ambush to the enemy while Cloud distracts them with her annoying personality which mostly works. When she wields Bottie, she becomes stronger. They’re both digital, Cloudoob being a cyborg. The waves of energy and internet comes in between them and Cloud can be much more faster and crazier. The hit of Bottie is very painful and heavy, so becareful in pissing him off or making Cloudoob angry!

The Streetsweeper: Ah yes. Little German boy. This boy is 11 and is a HUGE ALCOHOLIC. He prefers beer a lot. His accent is very heavy. He was in poverty ever since he was 3. He knows how to defend himself, infact, hes very independent and responsible. He earns little money everyday after serving his whole soul everyday just to sweep the streets and MAN. IT’S VERY CLEAN, almost like he was born to sweep the streets. Oh yeah, since he’s a heavy drinker, he rarely gets drunk because he’s VERYYYY VERYYYYY used to it. Yep. He sometimes smokes, but he prefers drinking to keep himself stable. Sometimes, he also cleans people’s windows and resell milk from his supplier. He really is trying his best to gain money. The boy needs SOAP IN HIS MOUTH!! He cusses most of the time, mostly in his language. He knows a little of English, but he mixes English with German words and phrases. He can also sew, after learning how to do so when he was 7. He is skilled and hardworking if you do ask me. He really loves his country with full heart and would kick ass in the tourney for it. He doesn’t trust anyone after his parents died, he really doesnt. Not until he meets this one girl who was 12. She always encounters the German boy as she passes through the streets to wander to the nearest famous library. Every time he sees her wave and smile, he would snicker and mumble something bad about her under his breath then taking a sip from his beer and then going back to sweeping. The Streetsweeper then gained the courage and shouted at her for always waving and being nice to him for no reason. She just replies with a sentence that says that she just did it because it was her then she walked away. He was shocked and pretty much felt bad and decided to apologize to the girl by his age with glasses. The next day came and he gifted her 2 fresh roses he saw as he was working. He was very shy and rough when he said his sorry, it was because he wasnt used to it EVER. She forgave him and then they’d hang out. The boy was gaining a crush on her as months came. She introduced him to their group filled with contestants. He didnt trust them and still was being mad angry and pissed no matter what, but he warmed up to them soon. His way of fighting: He uses his LARGE ASS BROOM to fight. His hits are hard to dodge, he was training for this moment. He can take a ton of hits at the enemy and knocking them fainted, yet not killing him. The poor boy would just flee once they’re fainted, never to be seen ever again by the contestant who dared to fight the little German alcoholic.

Chellby Orchids: The younger sister of Chelle, 12 years old. She is observant and smart. She likes reading books, especially novels. She usually gets permission from Chelle if she could go to the local library and she was allowed. The necklace which had a heart on it was given by her mother, (WHOS STILL ALIVE), to remember as she was keeping watch of her older sister if she was doing all right. She always sends letters to her mom every month and tell what’s happening to the both of them. She’s a spectator, not a competitor. As she was walking, she always sees this streetsweeper with a bottle of beer on his hands all the time. She always gives him a small wave and smile, then continuing on to walking to the library. This encounter happens almost everyday, and the German decided to approach her and yell, her responding to him with a specific sentence to which made him shock. The next day came and she saw him again. Chellby asked what’s wrong and he immediately shoved 2 roses in her face and said sorry in German. He was flustered, yet still mad. She accepted it and always met up with the poor boy. She introduced him to the crew and she made him join. The boy she met now felt welcomed, and deep inside her, she was developing feelings for him yet chose not to say it to anyone, not even her sister.

Mr. Calamity: The wonky and silly magician! Powerful, a wizard he was. He has this company named ‘CALAMITY ENTERTAINMENT’. Yes, he was also a comedian. Well, he’s not really insane despite how he looks. He’s a goofy guy whose limbs stretch to the fullest extent and his head can fall off. Yes, you heard me right. He works a part time job in his little show company of his and killing. Hes the 50/50 of dumb and smart. He’s pretty innocent, and can sometimes be teasing. His teasing can be seen as charming to people, yet he just doesnt know what he was actually saying, like, he doesnt get it. He carries a large ass magician wand to perform tricks which he memorized from this one book which was as thick as a whole story novel and a dictionary. It’s really impressive to how he memorized some spells which were both strong and dangerous. He is a charming tall and lanky man of his age, a young man indeed. When he was walking and humming to himself, a charming sweet lady saw him and recognized him, same for the magician. They both recognized eachother since they were both famous as hell. They decided to be friends and the lady asked him if he wanted to join their squad, and he said HELL YEAHH!! Why not?  His way of fighting: He first makes his opponent see him as some spectator or staff, trying to confuse them even if the enemy knows he was lying. He tries to start a talking argument, yet he DOES have something in his sleeve, meaning he knows what he was doing. And with his hands behind his back, he performs a magic trick of whatever to the person, duelling them mid-talk.

I am most definitely done with expecting change in feminism from straight women. As a radical feminist, I have realized that women, especially straight women, have been and are one of the stanchiest opposition to feminism and women's rights. Some would say " here she go generalizing again" . Here's a simple example, that I know most of us will relate to :

My mom is a very educated woman . She has raised me to be independent and always pushed me for more . Only when there's no man in her life. You see, my mom is one of those women who will be "women's rights" all day every day, until time comes to act . Whenever there is a problem between a man and a woman she knows, be them married or bf and gfs, she always, always, takes the man 's side *until proven otherwise*. My cousin is a wifebeater , a pedo and a druggie. She provides him with money whenever he asks because "he's family" whereas she's absolutely, and I mean absolutely vile , to his wife , who is my age. This, is coming from a woman who have been severely beaten by 2 of her 3 ex-husbands. She always , always finds some way to justify defending men over women. I absolutely detest that pig and never hide that fact. Whenever I scream at her for giving in to that poisonous bastard, she blames me of being "cruel".

How many women do you know like that? That's the vast majority of the women I know and I have met in my short life. Be them aunts ,cousins, friends, female teachers etc... They all show this pattern of " of course I am for women's rights but" . I thought these sort of women were improvable. I was wrong.

If feminism is supposed to progress, then I fear it will have to come mostly from lesbians, or otherwise women not in relationships with men. I am done fighting for these women . That is not to say that I will not help fellow women when I see one in need. It is in my nature to , and I always will. Only if I absolutely have to though . ok so Robyn is a reeeally cranky mf, he does not get along with others, he is bossy and wants to be in charge and will always choose fight over flight

He's aggressive and mean and quick to hit first but he's also in a toxic af home & pushes people away, I am an absolute sucker for charas that are introduced as cold and cruel and over time open up to be sweet and caring and that's exactly what happens when he moves out of his dads' place and in with his cousin Tekla

He meets his best friend Zaina and his bf Salem after switching schools and towns!! Tekla introduces him to polyamory bc she has a gf and bf and a couple years later him and Salem get with Coyote, an errand boy that used to work alongside him for his dads tech company before moving!

He also gets a service bird, a sulphur crested cuckatoo he later ends up naming Majesty, she had a previous owner that died but they never found out her name so he just called her sweet nicknames and Majesty stuck. He later volunteers and eventually starts working at a bird rescue sanctuary, which takes in birds that can't survive or live out their lives as normal in the wild, and keeps them happy and healthy here until their passing. Before moving from volunteer to employee, he works as Tekla's employee at a candy shop!

She will see you look at something that you pass by, pester you about if you want it, and if you admit that you do she will drag you into the shop to buy it for you!

Children are nice! They're creative and incentive, they've got the best ideas and ask the best questions! Hand her a child and she'll have a new project in the works by that evening. ooooohhhh the newest episode of our beloved summer was *chefs kiss*. tuesdays episodes are always better than the mondays lol you can even see it in the tv ratings as well. 

as we get more episodes, i realized why woong has such a hard time moving on. the way they loved each other and cherished each other during those 5 years makes me tear up. those constant parallels from the past to the present. the way shes always been touching his forehead to stop him from frowning while he sleeps. i realized im such a fool for the little touches and looks of love *swoon*

one of my favorite moments from today’s episode (aside from the kiss montage scene) is before the kiss scene. in ep. 7 woong told yeonsoo that she made him feel like a fool and she never gave him any options and he had to accept that. however in today’s episode before the big kiss, she gave him two options and asked for his opinion TWICE. she asked him, “should i go or should i stay?” and to me this looks like a huge step in the right direction. now its woong’s turn to step up to the plate and batter up since yeonsoo is pitching a fastball to him.

if you have seen my other posts or tags you will know that i am not a fan of jiwoong and i dont think i will be. that scene where he doesnt deny that yeonsoo is his gf in front of woong when the lady asked him about yeonsoo and him constantly trying to start something with him doesnt sit right with me. i will never be okay with the idea of a long time friend trying to hit on my ex/current gf. also im not gonna judge people who ship jiwoong and yeonsoo but yeonsoo has never put jiwoong before woong. jiwoong has always just been there next to woong to yeonsoo. jiwoong may have always been in the spotlight by being the class president and in the track team, but the boy that was always napping caught her eye and attention. and i know people are pitying him but i dont think ive ever felt that way about him... sorry jiwoong fans lol

okay so i just watched this series and good GOD it was so much better than the books. i felt like in the books magnus was always sidelined but the show really let him shine in all his warlock glory. absurdly powerful + very nice blazers + kickass eyeliner + amazing jewelry + cat dad + disgustingly kind + adopts various individuals as children as he goes through life because 💖💕💓💗found family💕💓💗💘. bisexual poc king. fucking love him, 17,000 exes and all.

if you haven’t watched this show i would actually recommend it. it’s impressive. but jared is, by far, one of the FUNNIEST characters i have ever experienced in my whole life. the only reason he isn’t #1 on this list is because i feel a duty to everyone ^^ up there, but jared is. GOD. physical depiction of “perfectly pleasant and put together until he goes APESHIT”

You know, I really like Gilina. Or, more correctly, I really like what Gilina represents, both in terms of Crichton’s development and in his feelings for Aeryn. Gilina is Earth Crichton’s dream girl: she is blonde, pretty, sweet, and plucky (she is no push-over). She is also a girl geek, and a techie and for our scientist, that’s quite irresistibly appealing. (Btw, let me take a moment to note how much I like that the show showed us that Crichton had a type in women, B.A. (before Aeryn): they were blonde and sweet and had a certain safe niceness to them. Aeryn is not blonde, not sweet, and not safe at all. And neither is his feeling for her). If Gilina was a girl working for a research institute on Earth and she and John met at some party, I can easily see them talking, dating, falling in love and getting married. And having a happy married life. And the John of ‘PK Tech Girl,’ despite some unpleasant encounters in the Uncharted Territories is still enough of the Earth John to be attracted to Gilina, to be at the very beginning of developing something for her. He is still enough of an innocent, with enough uncomplicated and sweet left in him, for Gilina to be his type. But of course, that is not the case any more when they meet again in ‘Nerve.’ When they meet again, Gilina has had a fairly uneventful PK tech existence. She hasn’t changed much. But she is not Crichton’s type any more. Not after Maldis and finding out firsthand that there are psychopaths that will just enjoy watching you die for the fun of it, not after Crais and finding out that no, if you only explain the truth, it won’t make it better. The person will still want to kill you even if they believe you, even if it’s wrong and irrational, and there is nothing you can do. Not after ‘Jeremiah Crichton’ (my least fave ep of the whole show, but whose theme of Crichton’s long isolation is well taken). Not after finding out the truth about Zhaan, or almost dying out there in space with Aeryn. Not after the mind and soul fuck of ‘A Human Reaction.’   Gilina is not for this John. Not any more. And it’s not just that in the meanwhile he’s ceased to see anyone but Aeryn. It is also that his character has changed. And that is only the beginning. When he meets her in ‘Nerve’ it is pre-Scorpius, pre-Aurora Chair, pre-everything in S2, 3 and 4 (I’d do a list but it would take too long to type). If Gilina met S4 Crichton, she’d freak and run away and rightly so. A digression, but I find it fascinating how John's non-Aeryn women reflect his change. We have his ex-gf on Earth who he was serious enough to apparently want to propose to, before they went their separate career way. She is sort of like Gilina only blander, less engaging (Earth Crichton strikes me as someone who's had things come to him too easily because of his intelligence or what not. His passion (for whatever) was never truly engaged to the full, and the gf reflects that.) There is also Caroline (who we meet in Terra Firma) with whom he had something or other, but she is rather like his Earth-ex and it's clear the Crichton of TF doesn't even have anything to say to her any more. From them, we progress to Gilina (about whom see above). In first half of S2, there is the PK Disruptor. Now, she is a lot more edges, more hardness. If she is like anyone, it's a female version of Bond. And Crichton sleeps with her, because hey, he's tried everything to get Aeryn to admit any interest, he's beaten his head against the rock and he's beaten it and beaten it. But she refused and she's conclusively walked out of his life for good (not even came to see him for the very last time, when he needed her most). And also, girl can kill him, good to stay on her good side. There is no Gilina sweetness in her, at all. PK Tech Girl Crichton would annoy her and be intimidated to be with her, not so much Crichton of that s2 ep arc. But interestingly, that is the last time he even looks at another woman, no matter the circumstances. Once Aeryn and he admit their love to each other at the end of S2/beginning of S3, that is it. Even at the second part of S3, when Aeryn is off with Talyn-Crichton, Moya-Crichton goes deep into his obsession with wormholes, not any girls at all, and he is just as obsessed with Aeryn as ever. Even after the end of S3, the beginning of S4, even after he tells Aeryn "I can trust you with my life. But not my heart" and he locks himself away, he still does not look at anyone else. He cannot. And even the drugs cannot knock her out from his mind. Which is why his last non-Aeryn woman is Grayza, who rapes him while at the same time telling him if he gives her the wormhole stuff she will help him find Aeryn (OMG, that bit is seriously the worst in the whole scene). I think the darker progression of these women-others mirrors the darker and darker universe. OK, digression over.   I find it interesting that in S1 we have a number of people (beings, whatever) whose life is affected, changed by Crichton and who are grateful for that and thank him for changing/opening/saving either explicitly, or it’s implied. But after S1 this slows to a trickle pretty fast and then stops almost entirely. Crichton is such an innately kind person, and one of the saddest things in the show is seeing this kindness leach away under the tortures (literal and figurative) he is subjected to. I find it so sad and so significant that in the S3 finale it’s Aeryn who brings up the fact that the command carrier has a lot of lives which John’s plan might end. Aeryn. Not John. She’s become more compassionate (she, who started out saying ‘I hate that word’) and he’s become much less. These are both reactions to their environment, to events they are in (When they initially meet, she is a product of an individuality-less, soulless scenario. Even if he is wrong in reading her at the very very first in Premiere during intros, he is not wrong in reading her potential, in recognizing she is a person, and even as early as Premiere she proves him right. I also love that for Crichton, she is always her own person, not a preconceived notion of what she should be. He loves her for being Aeryn, not for some idealized being in his head). And yet it is never completely suppressed, it is always there, however muted and downtrodden, however circumscribed. He had to jettison most of it in order to stay sane and to survive, but somewhere deep inside he is still the guy who, in a completely strange world, took the time to fix the eye-stalk of a mechanical critter thingy he didn’t know at all.   And of course, part of the reason he jettisons it is also because whenever he tries to save someone or make it better, it often ends up making the situation worse. I am thinking for example of S3’s lovely ‘Different Destinations’ which turns a beloved sci-fi trope on its head and he has to live with it and he can barely bear it.   And I love how the show never lets us forget the cost this takes on him, that he is not a power-hungry psychopath, a cavalier callous being only caring about his small group of friends. That coda to S4’s ‘We Are So Screwed’ where he is with Aeryn, and he breaks down, and he can’t help it, and he weeps for what he’d done, for what he almost did (and it’s going to be small fry in comparison with PKW) is just brilliant and heartbreaking and one of my favorite bits (and I love that she is there, and she silently comforts him, and he clutches her arm as a lifeline). And that is why I actually liked the drug storyline in S4. After all the stuff that Crichton been through, I am surprised he didn’t end up going on something earlier, just to deal with it all somehow (I love that the show brought up earlier that he has nightmares, feels tremendous guilt, and that was mid S2, I am sure they are much worse now). And it also made sense that when his number 1 obsession, Aeryn, told him to give it up, he did, as he’d pick her over anything. She’s his number 1 drug. Basically, he needs Aeryn desperately. She is what allows him to function, allows him to stay (relatively) sane, what holds him together. When he can’t have her, or doesn’t have her, he falls apart and needs something else to get through the days (wormholes in S3, lakka in S4). I do find it interesting that Crichton keeps his compassion, however tattered, but he develops absolute priorities, as a result of choices he shouldn’t have had to make. Most people don’t really analyze whether they will pick the woman they love or selling one’s soul and giving up something which earlier, to protect, you didn’t give up even when tortured or hunted or broken. They don’t have to. Crichton’s developed rigid priorities are a result of the environment where he had to confront those hierarchies in himself. Crichton’s earlier ‘purity’ and goodness and optimism exist in part because he is a product of a relatively sheltered life (compared to Uncharted Territories). But that early cleanness allows others to see a better or at least a different path for themselves and so they repay the favor later by pulling him out when he is on the brink of succumbing to all these horrors (which really do seem to be scarily disproportionately triggered at him). One of the things I love about Crichton is that even after he’s seen and dealt horrors, he has a certain moral absolutism to him (however broken it gets at times) and a pure refusal to give up, and strength even if only to make the least worst of two bad choices presented to him. Something untainted is always there, maybe a legacy of his initial idealism, and so he never breaks, not permanently, not irreparably, though he comes very very close. Throughout the show, even as that world bends and molds and twists him to its own parameters, he manages to make the world somewhat bend and mold and twist to himself.   Do you know what I really really wish for John and Aeryn and the kid after the end of PKW? A few years of total peace, where they can just travel the space in Moya, and John can do his research, and be with Aeryn and watch their child grow, without having to worry about saving his and their lives every other day.

Not a single flaw..”,the man guffawed.”Well you have have a micropenis why did your wife choose you?”,her bestfriend snapped crudely making her cringe.”Let’s go Y/N “, Y/BF/N said dragging she out of the restaurant .Well this wasn’t how I wanted college reunion to end up like,thanks Nathan she thought. “Are you alright Y/N ?”, Y/BF/N asked. “Of course”. Fat tears dampened the pillow as her eyes read the news headline. ‘Johnny Depp at a dinner date with ex wife Vanessa ? Is he finally done with his simple girlfriend ?’

5. Falling

This was it.She ended up the way she predicted she’d end up 10 years ago. Weak,Tired,Empty and Lonely. She stared at the bathtub as it filled itself until it was overfilled,water spilling out of its sides as it splashed onto her feet. She didn’t flinch at the coldness.She stayed robotically still, looking down at her palm. A blade. Without hesitating she got into the tub,the tap still running. She didn’t think anymore,tears wouldn’t fall even if they wanted to. She closed her eyes as she let her self go ,ignoring the frantic ringing of her phone and the banging on the apartment door.

6. Alerting

To say Johnny was concerned was an underestimation.Y/N wasn’t picking up his phone since several days .He was distracted, couldn’t concentrate and worry filled his entire existence.He didn’t know what to do,even going as far as asking his ex wife for advice.He decided to go back ,back to his girlfriend’s loving arms.

The moment he stepped back into the city he took his time.Picking out her favourie flowers ,the chocolate she always loved and a little something of importance. He ignored the notifications is phone was chiming with, his mind only full of thoughts of her....The thoughts were short lived , disturbed much to Johnny’s dismay by Y/BF/N’s call. He ignored once,ignored twice but after that he knew something was wrong.”Johnny !”, panicked voice spoke through the phone. A frown replacing the man’s smile “Did Y/N text you that absurd note too?” “No,wait Y/BF/N let me check”,he put the call on hold as his eyes skimmed over the words displayed on his screen. His phone now dropped on the car floor he wished all of it was a dream.They stopped as he stormed out, back to his apartment. He knocked wildly on the door but not a voice came nor a cackle. He threw his body on the door several times ,”Goddamitt Y/N OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR DON’T PLAY WITH ME RIGHT NOW !”.In his panicked feat he had forgotten he had the keys until they dropped out of his jacket pocket.He didn’t wait a moment as he fumbled it into the key hole ,kicking the door open as soon as it opened.

Silence. 

Splosh . The sound of water hitting the ground from the bathroom echoed in the whole house.

“Y/N ?”, Johnny softly whispered as he pushed open the bathroom door. A horrific scene unfolded before him.

7.Mourning

It had been two days and Johnny wouldn’t budge.He saw red that day and the site still wouldn’t leave his thoughts alone.He would neither eat,nor sleep as he sat beside his beloved girlfriend who lay on a hospital bed. Dark Enough by Amanda played on the radio. The text message, and the talk with Y/BF/N replayed in his head as if war replayed in a retired soldiers dreams. “I didn’t know you were hurting that bad”,he whispered, tears threatening to fall again. He place his head on her stomach as he let the silent tears fall,until her hand fell on top of his head.

8.Resuscitation  

Johnny jerked up ,his eyes as wide as saucers, as he froze with eyes full of pain and hurt.Y/N did not dare meet his gaze.She felt ashamed and disgusted. But those feelings were immediately replaced with shock as Johnny almost lunged at her,hugging her tight. “I was so scared I was so fucking scared when I saw that text and then you drowning in the red water filled in the bathtub ! I thought you’d left me ! I thought you died you weren’t breathing...How dare you think of yourself that way how dare you think you were not good enough !? You were the best fucking thing that happened to me since my kids goddammit !”. Y/N had never seen Johnny this mad.Hell, she had never even seen him cry. She didn’t know how to answer him, she was too ashamed.He wouldn’t break the hug, as if he would loose her if he did. He loved her too much. “Why ?”,he asked again,as if he was begging for an answer. Even a word. He just wanted to hear her voice. “I was scared...”,her voice cracked coming out much broken than she predicted. “ I didn’t think I deserved you, I thought I’d never reach the levels of those beautiful actresses and models.I was scared to tell you about my past..I was scared to bother you...”. Johnny’s heart broke. He never thought his Y/N would think that way. She was always smiling .Not even a little frown on her face. Always there for everyone. Yet no one comforted her. How could he never see it? Of course he couldn’t see it she was perfect to him.His Y/N was the most perfect person in the world. “I love you”, he blurted. He never said that.He was too shy. But he hugged her tighter ,” I love you so much. Even with scars,insecurities or that ugly face you make when you see things you do not like. You were, have and always will be the most perfect to me. Please....don’t do that again...”

9.Emergence

Y/N was discharged from the hospital in a few days. Johnny wouln’t leave her side. All his attention would be on her to see if ate well, and loved herself. Y/N felt safe. And she wasn’t wrong . Johnny was everything she deserved.

They sat on the rooftop of a cafe in Paris. A calm silence passing over them. “Y/N ?” ,Johnny asked. “Hmm?”,she hummed along, silence entailing after. ”Marry me ?”,he asked. That was the day Y/N was the most happiest, and did the beautifully emerged Kalon say yes? you’d ask. She said it without a second to spare. After all our Kalon had found her wings.
