You ofcourse were hesitant but the cat was in love. You mother came out and as the night progressed you only heard your mother going from frustrated about life to angry about the crazy lady who refuses to raise her voice but you never saw that your mother will throw your a bag full your clothes out of the house.

"Come child " You heard Minnie's voice the first time.

That night you spent curled up a warm bed with her and your cat in a strange place and nothing was the same again.

hahaha I think this was one of my first cursed ship game drabbles—mcg confessing to poppy that she cheated on her with crookshanks.

so yes, poppy does know. they believe in being open and honest, but they weren’t in an open relationship, so it creates a pretty big rift between them and raises some philosophical questions around the nature of animagi.

I think eventually poppy decides that because she can’t please mcg in cat form, she’s allowed to have sexcapades as a cat (with other cats, obv), but she doesn’t want to know about it because it hurts her brain. and that’s so valid of her, tbh

I was wondering how Remus’ career advice meeting with McGonagall went in tle1? Was it anything like Lily’s? Or was there nothing McGonagall could say to sugar-coat it? I imagine Remus must’ve gone in there with zero expectations

Early on in my TLE1 draft, I had that chapter from McG’s POV. I eventually decided I didn’t want to do a one-off POV chapter and that inserting the professors’ POV kind of undermined the general vibe of the story, but at one point I had a rough outline of everyone’s career advice. Of course I can’t find it now. 😩

Anyway, yeah, Remus basically went in like “ha ha ok we both know this a waste of everyone’s time” and McG went into like “I am going to treat him like any other student and discuss his interests and aspirations” and because Remus is a people pleaser he played along and he left feeling utterly devastated but like he couldn’t actually talk to anyone about it.

The only part of this that ended up in the final draft was a brief little observation from Sirius, returning from his own less-than-satisfactory career advice meeting:

Sirius slumped into an armchair with a dramatic heave. “Well, let’s see: Me and Minnie had a real heart-to-heart, and after a rousing hour of deliberation, we concluded that my true path lies in Himalayan Hinkypunk herding.”

Remus glanced up from the book he was reading. “Do they have Hinkypunks in the Himalayas?”

“Search me,” said Sirius.

“Hm.” Remus went back to his book. He was the only one who had shown no interest in the career pamphlets, undoubtedly because he felt his career prospects were severely curtailed by his ‘furry little problem,’ as James would call it. Sirius felt a surge of affection for the boy werewolf.

“This is all a big waste of time anyway,” said Sirius.

There was a lot of secret emotion behind that “hm.” 😂

This is part of a larger theme in TLE of McG not quite getting it, but that’s another subject 🙃

Hello anon!

Yes! I do plan to record all of The Stars on The Staircase. I think I have to focus on finishing writing it first, but recently comments have gotten me to go back and read earlier chapters which really made me feel like getting back to the audio side.

Stumbling blocks on the audio are:

-The next chapter that needs to be recorded is all Minerva McGonagall and reader dialogue. Doing Professor McG intimidates me. I know no one is asking me to do spot on impressions, just give the flavour like I do for Severus, but for some reason siting in front of my mic and doing any Minnie lines results in me doing them over and over again and editing becomes a nightmare to try to find the take I sound half decent on.

-Need to figure out a different place to upload to. Sound cloud free account is almost maxed out and I’m not sure it’s the place for it. Looking into alternative audio hosting.

-They are a slog to edit after recording. You never know how loud you breathe till you hear yourself gasping between rounds of doing Alan Rickman impressions.

That being said!! I do want to do it! I like being able to give an alternate way of receiving my story. I personally have really big issues with reading on devices, I get dizzy, and as a result I do not read fan fiction very much. (*cries in apology to those who have nicely asked me to read their work*) I want to give people like me a way to hear the story plus I really like getting to show you guys the way he says things in my head.

So yes. I will. I also think it would be fun to record a one shot that is from his POV and I’m waiting for the universe to give me inspiration for that one.

Just how stupid jkr is gets apparent in the first chapter of philosophers stone: dumbledore sends off hagrid to get little toddler Harry from the potters home. First: Minnie mcg hangs around all day outside the dursleys house, already awaiting dumbledore and Harry. Who, she doesn't know yet, but, gets brought by hagrid.

Second: hagrid apparently only appears on time, bc Sirius gave him his motorbike.

Now: apparently it's already 1. November, bc she, and the entire Wizarding world, knew that the potters are dead, and that voldemort is gone. So Harry just sat around all of Halloween night, frightened and traumatized, waiting for anyone to get him?

Also, why didn't dumbledore just get Harry himself???

No, instead he sends hagrid, who isn't allowed any magic at all, to retrieve tiny Harry. If Sirius wasn't around to give hagrid his bike, how did dumbledore expect hagrid to get Harry there on time?????

Hagrid had to travel from somewhere in Scotland (aka hogwarts) to somewhere around bath (aka godric's hollow) to surrey. All in the time of just about 24 hours. While dumbledore already knew when to expect hagrid there???? Wtf it makes 0 sense

And all these people see "Sirius" pulling these pranks, and there's no doubt it's him because Potter's in on it too. And James happily takes the detentions just to watch Sirius sulk and grumble under his breath as he's scrubbing out cauldrons.
