oh man it just clicked for me that of course tenzo looks at naruto and sees kakashi. here's a weirdly determined guy sticking his neck out to save a traumatized and dangerous weirdo. of course he looks at the team and immediately thinks 'ah yes, my job here is to prevent this self-sacrificing moron from hurting himself with his dangerous powers'. it's practically routine. tenzo's definitely thinking that kakashi trained a kid exactly like him.

and what's really funny is that approximately nobody shares this view. tenzo complains about having to deal with two versions of the same idiot and everyone else around is like ??? how???

after some back-and-forth tenzo is finally confronted with the fact that cold-blooded kakashi isn't just an insult from enemy ninja and strangers who don't know shit but actually a thing their friends and colleagues actually believe.

so there's tenzo at the ninja bar, somewhat drunk, trying to reconcile cold-blooded with the person he knows, someone who would bend the rules to help random strangers with a sob-story, someone who would comfort little kids and tell his teammates everything's going to be alright, someone who protected literally anyone even tangentially on their side with an honestly worrying desperation. and there's all the other jonin and chunin at the ninja bar trying to reconcile that with maito gai's weird masked porn-reading loner friend who totally might have killed two people and stolen an eyeball that one time.

anyway kakashi comes back from mission-and-then-hospital-stay no.8005 to find everyone being strangely more friendly in his general direction. because people are bizarre and incomprehensible at the best of times kakashi figures its probably a side effect of naruto being back in town and dismisses it.

(what neither kakashi nor tenzo realize is that tenzo just single-handedly ran kakashi's presidential campaign. extremely successfully, too. it's probably one of the most effective public image rehabilitations in ninja history. tenzo accidentally rewrites entire bingo book sections in a bar.

gai is both extremely pleased and slightly disgruntled when he puts the pieces together. he's been trying to do this for years to no avail. but anyway, more importantly, tenzo is now definitely absolutely and extremely a Friend of maito gai. tenzo's not sure what's going on or why, but he's quietly pleased about it.)

Genuine question, why is Kuukou's official translation Kuko? It's always confused me. The way they pronounce it is Kuukou

i’m not familiar with the actual jargon behind this, but, for whatever reason, the standard policy for jp↔️eng localisation is to omit long vowels sounds. like ichiro is written as ‘ichirou’ in jp but it’s ‘simplified’ to a short vowel in eng

i guess it’s bc the way the eng long vowel works is a different from the way jp’s work eg if kuukou was an eng name, since eng is the stupidest language on the planet, kuukou could read ‘coo-coo’ since the ‘ou’ can read like ‘you.’ the ‘ou’ sound can also be pronounced as ‘ow’ so eng kuukou could maybe be read as ‘coo-cow.’

except that’s stupid asf since even short vowels can sound different regardless of where they are lmao. we’re still assuming you’re familiar with jp vowels sounds to read a name so why not use the full romaji version lol???? 😭😭😭

anyway for proof it’s like a localisation standard, here’s a list of mha/bnha names that have been afflicted by that standard

those names should be ‘shouto todoroki,’ ‘katsuki bakugou,’ and ‘tenya iida’ lmao

How did you realize you had shifted for the first time? Did you feel your surroundings change or another other symptoms or was it symptomless? And what was your first DR you shifted to?

I just woke up in my Naruto dr room, I panicked for a second when I realized I had finally shifted. The feeling was surreal and I had to take a moment to breathe because of how unreal it felt. I had done a sleeping method so I didn’t realize I had shifted until I woke up. My first time was essentially symptomless.

Hc that the reason Itachi is so immediately ready to verbally bite back @ Kisame + Deidara (the akatsuki in general tbh) is bc he got there and for the first time was allowed to express his opinions without immediately having someone on his ass for it /hj

He gets through his little Bickering Over Philosophy moment with Kisame by the docks, no one comes to yell at him Fugaku, Inabi, or Danzo style and just just like "Okay maybe this place isn't absolute shit actually"
