2024 Altar tour 2/4

Hi all,

This is the second part of my altar tour. This post is going to be about my “spiritual tool station” where I keep my tarot cards, divination dice, among other trinkets.

This wooden wreath holds my protective jewelry, most notably my scorpion talisman. There you can also see a couple sachets of cards that I don’t use as often.

Starting from the top is a devotional statue to the Mother Goddess that I received quite recently. To her right is a crystal sphere (I forget the name I’m sorry) that aids in banishing negative energy. An evil eye can also be seen watching over the entire station.

There is also a piece depicting the Empress tarot card that I got from spirit halloween, as well as Mercury’s candle and a figure of Ryuk from Death Note. Behind Ryuk you can also see Azrael’s candle (get it?) I’m a big fan of the imagery in Death Note so you will see a lot of it on my altar.

In particular, I am very fond of the forbidden apple imagery. As a practitioner who dabbles in shadow work and hidden gnosis (as well as a full time devotee of Lucifer), I find the imagery to be appropriate. So here we can see a depiction of two angels conversing with an apple crystal between them, and the apple of the Death Note poster behind them.

I currently have 7 tarot decks that I use regularly with my favourite being the Hermetic Tarot. My Goddess Oracle deck is behind a small feminine depiction meant to represent Goddess Aphrodite.

Now here is a very special devotional space to Father Lucifer. Here is where I keep my sub collars, books of shadows, baneful ingredients, as well as my offering bowl to Lucifer. The dragon brush is used to clear ash off of my altar space. The red dragon is a tribute to Father Lucifer. There are also a few pieces of obsidian for him as well as some garnet.

The bottom most shelf is just used to hold jewelry and manifest financial prosperity.

Beneath the shelf, two more seals written by Joshua Meecha can be seen. One is for angelic intuition while the other is for focus and mental clarity.

This sigil is currently sitting beneath this picture of lightning. It was created while in trance with the help of Archangel Jophiel for the purpose of protecting the entire workspace and establishing Jophiel’s privilege in the space. You can also see some devotional art to Selene with various moon imagery.

The sigillum dei ameth is a very muti functional tool for angelic work. I use it both as a summoning cheat sheet and as a casting board for my divination dice. Put simply, signum dei vivi is a symbol of the living God. It is a magical diagram labeled with the name of God and his angels.

And finally, here is the hand of Faviel, the Father of Corvids. He protects my herbs. His hand is always outstretched to me 🖤

Protection sigil

Sigils range from the very complicated (like the Sigil of Ameth pictured at the top of this page) to the very simple. Times this would be useful would be when you're needing more than one energy at a time and don't have room for a bunch of different sigils all over your work space, or in creating mojo bags that don't have a lot of room in them to begin with. Just don't forget to release the link when you're done working with it.Ĭombination Sigils: This describes the act of combining sigils for multiple purposes by either overlapping them on top of each other and tracing the result, drawing them next to each other and touching, or taking part of each sigil and creating a new unique sigil from these parts. This might be used if you're moving into a new home for example, and you'd like to take the energy from your previous magickal working space with you. One use for this would be to transfer energy from one place to another by creating a linking sigil that links the two locations and then sending the desired energy through it. Any sigil already links itself to the entity or intention that it represents, but if you were to create a sigil specifically linking one item, person, or place to another, that would amplify that link. Linking Sigils: Linking sigils are specifically created to form a link between one thing or place and another. Dean's not quite sure what he’s looking at but it doesn't look good.

"Dean," Sam gasps, staring up at him from where he's kneeling on the floor in front of the floor-length mirror on the backside of the closet door. He's trying to keep his voice calm, like rivulets of blood aren't sliding down his chest and dripping onto the motel towel clearly laid out across his lap to catch the mess. Like the panic and fear aren’t clearly visibly in his eyes. "You're back early."

"Bar was a dud," Dean says, closing the motel room door and turning the deadbolt. "Wanna tell me what's going on?"

Sam swallows hard, glancing down at his chest and the knife in his hand. "I- it's not what it looks like?"

"It looks like you're carving something into your skin."

Dean crouches down next to his brother and reaches out to grip one surprisingly delicate wrist in his hand. Sure enough, turning Sam towards the light reveals what Dean recognizes to be some kind of Enochian sigil. It’s circular and only partially complete, the unfinished bit carefully drawn with black marker, but he knows it immediately. Sam’s been wearing a talisman with the same symbol since they met up again after Dean’s trip to the future. He said it was something for protection, to keep Lucifer out of his head.

“Sam.” Dean keeps his voice as low and even as he can. Sam is pointedly avoiding his eyes. “Sammy. Look at me.”

Watery hazel-sunflower eyes meet his and Dean’s heart twists in his chest at the sight.

“Thought you said the talisman was working,” Dean says.

“I lied.”

Sam’s voice is so soft, so broken, and fuck. Dean should have realized. He should have noticed.

Dean slides his hand over Sam’s and tries to uncurl those long fingers from the knife but Sam’s grip just tightens.

“Give me the knife, Sam.”

“No. I have to - it has to be me. I have to complete it.”

“You don’t have to do anything.” Dean tugs at Sam’s fingers again but they don’t budge. “We’ll call Cas, call Bobby. Something that doesn’t involve cutting yourself up.”

“Dean.” Sam is gazing up at him with a desperation that feels like the knife is in Dean’s chest. His knife-free hand reaches up to grab at the front of Dean’s jacket and Dean’s mind rushes back to that creepy haunted hotel, where Sam got drunk out of his mind and begged Dean to kill him. “Please. Let me finish this.”

Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Dean groans and drops Sam’s knife hand in favor of covering the hand on his jacket. “Sam.”

“Please.”

God fucking dammit.

“Fine. Fine. But I’m staying here and I’m cleaning those up when you’re done.”

Sam nods, more than willing to agree to those conditions. Dean stands.

“I’m getting the first aid kit,” he says firmly. “Dunno why you didn’t already have that out.”

When he comes back, Sam is slowly dragging the tip of his knife along one of his marker lines. Dean winces but Sam’s hand is surprisingly steady.

“What even is it?” Dean asks, lowering himself to the floor beside Sam.

“The Sigil of Ameth.” Sam’s eyes meet Dean’s. “Cas gave it to me.”

“Cas tell you to do this?”

Sam shakes his head. “No, this was… this was me. The blood and it being on my body - it should give it more power.”

“Should?”

“Let me focus.”

Dean falls silent, watching his brother intently. Sam is completely silent as he focuses on getting the lines exactly perfect. It’s a super intricate sigil, with a lot of little details he has to get exactly right, and Dean’s amazed once again at Sam’s talent for these things.

They sit in absolute silence until Sam drops the knife with a groan. Dean reaches out to steady him with a hand splayed on his upper back. He feels the muscles flex beneath his fingers, clenching when he grabs the towel to wipe away most of the blood.

“I gotcha,” Dean murmurs. “Lemme take care of you.”

Sam nods and sits still while Dean checks the cuts. They’re deep - deep enough to scar, which was probably the point, but not deep enough to need stitches. Very carefully done. Thank god for Sam’s perfectionism.

Dean cleans the cuts thoroughly, still seated on the scratchy motel carpet, and covers the whole thing with a big bandage. He pats the other side of Sam’s chest, right over the tattoo they share.

“You could’ve said something to me,” he says.

“Would you have even let me start if I had?”

Okay. Sam has a point there. “Whatever. C’mon, let’s get you to bed.”

The Sigil of Ameth or “Sigillum Dei,” (The Seal of God) is a magical diagram from the late middle ages, credited to Renaissance mystic and scientist John Dee. This is one of the most complex and puzzling sigils I've transcribed. It is composed of a pentagram and three heptagons inclosed in a circle. These structures house the sometimes-complete and sometimes fragmented, abbreviated, and encoded names of god and his angels. The outermost circle is believed to be the cypher used to form the names of the spirits, thrones, and angels within it. According to its earliest description in the Liber iuratus Honorii, the Sigil of Ameth can grant the initiated magician command over all creatures and lesser angels. Though I make no such claims, this sigil remains an esoteric treasure, and is certainly impressive to behold
