🧐 Simeon is Nightbringer and the signs have been there from the beginning! 🧐

I actually wasn’t sure they were going to go with the, “Simeon falls and becomes a demon” route as it seemed a bit repetitive since it already happened to the brothers. Now that it’s been confirmed he’s becoming a demon, I feel more confident to post this theory.

Simeon has always been on my list of NB candidates so these thoughts have been rolling around in my head for quite some time.

Below the cuts are my thoughts on how Simeon could be NB and why we were sent, “to the past”.

1. Nightbringer goes by many names. Simeon has a pen name for when he writes, nicknames from the brothers, and several different titles throughout his tenure in the Celestial Realm (aka demoted to archangel was a seraphim).

2. Where did Lesson 80 leave off in the OG? It was about Simeon becoming human and everyone finding out. They truly were continuing NB from the OG.

3. Nightbringer created the Fountain. The fountain contains books. Simeon is a writer.

4. He was literally in that illusion Nightbringer made for Solomon. Solomon’s conversation with NB strongly suggests NB wasn’t always a demon.

5. The storyline in NB is different from what we know of the past for a reason. This could be due to Simeon’s laments of not falling with the brothers. This is Simeon’s do over.

6. The ring of light, which Simeon stole and was the catalyst for his fall plays a role in Nightbringer.

7. Leviathan and MC are transported into an early TSL world in the beginning of NB. This could be a hint that we were thrown into a world that Simeon created.

8. Simeon is prophetic. NB is known to see through the past, present, and future. Simeon’s writings, IMO, reflect a combination of the past, present, and future. Some of them are prophetic.

9. Nightbringer is invested in MC’s happiness. Simeon stole the ring of light for MC’s survival so it’s not a stretch for him to also feel this way.

I believe we ended up in one of Simeon’s written worlds. More precisely, an alternate type of timeline where he was able to visit the brothers soon after their fall and be there for them. A world where both he and MC help the brothers to adjust to life in the Devildom.

Perhaps it was a shared dream to everyone else in the current timeline and they don’t remember it.

“No, I’m totally over him,” you say firmly, wishing just one of the brothers would believe you. “I mean, we didn’t talk at all over break, and I saw in Devilgram he got a back to school haircut. Everyone knows crushes don’t stay, especially after there’s been a haircut.”

“That is true,” Mammon nods.

“Well, not for me, of course,” Asmo sighs, putting his chin on his hands. “That just seems to make me more popular.”

“Well, this isn’t about you,” you say. “It’s about me! A me who is completely and totally over—“

“Over who?” Asks Simeon, sliding between you and Satan, all long-legged and sun-striped in the human realm’s sun. His haircut, you realize with a slow sinking horror as your cheeks start to heat, looks nice.

Belphie takes one look at your face and begins to snicker, hiding his face in Beel’s shoulder.

“I didn’t know you liked someone,” Simeon continues, looking at you earnestly. His deep brown eyes sparkle and he leans towards you, too close. You manage a nervous chuckle.

“Yeah, liked,” Mammon replies, emphasizing the past tense. “MC here really insists those feelings no longer remain.”

“Well that’s a shame for the lucky guy,” Simeon comments, and you can’t breathe for a moment.

“Ah, uh,” you say intelligently.

He chuckles. “Oh man, I missed you over the summer. We definitely should catch up. Maybe grab a bite to eat after classes.”

“T-together?”

“Hopefully together,” Simeon teases. “So, what do you say?”

The boys all share amused looks at your silence before Lucifer, of all of them, speaks up.

“MC agrees,” he says mildly, and Simeon beams.

“Great,” he says, standing. “I’ll catch you after school. My treat.”

As he lopes off, sending a fluttering wave to you over his shoulder, Mammon raises his eyebrows at you.

“Completely and totally over him?”

“I may have…regressed.”

Luke: I *nervous*… you don't like the cookies I make?

Mc: Oh, Luke, it's not that I don't like your cookies, it's that I can't eat sweets….

Luke: Huh? Why?

Simeon: *humming as he finishes making dinner *

Luke: *coming into the kitchen with a slamming of the door* Simeon!!!!

Simeon: Uaa! Luke, you scared me. What's the matter?

Luke: *very serious* I need you to teach me how to make healthy, delicious food!!!!

Simeon: Why so suddenly???

Luke: *rushed* Because I've just been doing things that Mc can't eat!!!!

Simeon: Oh Luke *moved*

Luke: I've been marginalizing Mc and I thought they didn't like me or my food!!!! I want to be able to make something for them like I make sweets for everyone.

Simeon: You're a great angel Luke, come on, let's make a list.
