hey gang, do we all agree that ten's massive ego and god complex (or rather those traits being especially prominent in his regeneration) were a direct result of what happened in Parting of the Ways?
"marlena what the fuck do you mean" okay well think about it; ninth doctor. fresh off the time war. thinks himself unlovable, unworthy of love. just did a double genocide, including against his own people. he's returning to his old ways of lallygagging around helping humans in a more-than-desperate attempt to repress his feelings and try to mimic the person he was before the war. he's so vulnerable.
enter rose tyler. to him? she's the most amazing person in the universe. he loves her, full stop. she makes him feel like maybe he's still capable of love, but does he really trust her love for him? after all, she doesn't really know him, does she?
all that comes to a head when rose tyler becomes the bad wolf. in that moment, she sees everything. everything everything. the doctor's past, and the doctor's future. every horrible thing they did and will do.
and in that moment, with all this truth streaming constantly into her brain, most amazing person in the universe rose tyler looks at him and goes "i want to save you. you are worth saving."
bro no fucking shit ten has a motherfucking god complex, jesus christ i would too!!!
now personally i think nine would have rationalized it and been relatively Normal 'bout all that noise had he survived onwards, but unfortunately he didn't, and so when the doctor's subconscious and the universe were holding hands deciding what their new little guy should be like... well, we're already making him just for her, and she loves him.
rose tyler loves me. she loved me even when she knew me.
i'm just saying, that "Bad Wolf chose to save me" to "the laws of time are mine to command" pipeline is a straight vertical drop only a few feet long.

The whole "Claudia is now his sister"/Louis' sibling comparisons are never gonna sit right with me because that's never going to erase the fact that Claudia exists as a vampire partly because of him. Their relationship will never have this clearly defined role of siblings in the same manner Louis had with Grace or Paul, even if he was their older brother and was implicitly given the role of providing for them as the successor and manager of his family's estate. Because Louis was never responsible in part for their creation, the reason why they existed the way that they do in terms of behavior and life itself.
It also makes his betrayal of her all the more heartbreaking in ways that him and Grace drifting apart never will. He was her father, and didn't provide emotional support for her. She had to turn the tables and try to assume the role of being on an equal level because of this failure but this doesn't make him not choosing her any less painful than it did the first time. Even as they shift roles, take or give emotional responsibility one has towards the other, the fact that Claudia exists the way she does because of him and Lestat will always be there.

Six Sentence Sunday
Courtesy of the "keep your eyes shut prompt" from the lovely @nativestarwrites, yeah this is not going to be a drabble. Oops.
As much as Sam loved playing in England and with Richmond, he was still struggling to accept the weather along with everything else. He often found himself longing for the heat of Nigeria, especially during the cold, raw and rainy matches with the Greyhounds. On days like that, he sometimes felt he would never be warm again as he peeled off his sodden uniform and turned the water in the shower up as high as it could go, forever grateful to Coach Lasso for fixing the water pressure. Though raised in Northern England, Jamie hated those matches with the same intensity as Sam, and he would come out of the shower with his skin turned shades of pink and red from the water temperature, insisting he was finally warm.
Today, however, courtesy of a careless tackle in injury time, Sam found himself post-match with his arms around a shivering Jamie Tartt in a Nelson Road treatment room. Sam showered quickly while the physios poked and prodded Jamie, arriving with a warm blanket as they secured and wrapped his friend's injured limb.

Six Sentences Sunday! On Monday! Or Sunday still if you're in Hawaii.
Note to self: Do not try to write and do a WIP post on Tumblr in the same night. It won't happen. (Sigh.)
Thank you @ivelovedhimthroughworse, @katmiscellanious, @shrekgogurt, @you-remind-me-of-the-babe, and @rimeswithpurple for the tags today! I'm looking forward to reading/seeing what everyone is working on! Also thank you to everyone who's tagged me since my last Sunday post. Even when I can't post, I love tags - they help make sure I see the posts I really want to see.
I'm still (slowly) plugging away at my "Embrace the Silence" WIP. (Which has a dozen titles, depending on what song I'm listening to at the given moment.) Basics: Canon divergence fic exploring the ramifications of Baz successfully stealing Simon's voice in fifth year.
Side note: I got to see the touring company of Hamilton on Friday, and this whole setup gives me serious A. Burr/A. Ham vibes. But I could be projecting XD
13 whole sentences because it's gotta cover two whole weeks most likely. >.> (Fiona is driving Baz back to Watford. Reluctantly. As is her way.)
“It’s enemy territory,” she said after a minute, ignoring a stop sign, and forgoing the use of her turn signal. “The Mage had you kidnapped by numpties. Morgana only knows what he could try next, and you’re stuck in a bloody masochistic haze of self-destruction.”
She wasn't entirely wrong, on either point. The Mage truly does resent my continued existence. It’s his right. The one thing, perhaps, we both agree on.
“What if I’m simply keeping my enemies close,” I said, doing my best to stretch my leg out in the cramped backseat. “And how exactly did you determine the Mage’s culpability in my kidnapping?”
She shrugged, meeting my eyes briefly in the rearview mirror. “Why wouldn’t it be him. He’s capable of anything.”
So are we.
I promise/hope really hard my fic won't be all angst, all the time. Levity happens when I'm able to spend time writing, getting into character, writing daily - things I'm not quite able to do yet. (Probably because I'm on Tumblr and Discord too much. It's basically the trolley problem on a less life-threatening scale.) So for now, it's angst, relatively pure and uncut.
Tags under the cut!
It's no longer Sunday, so consider these friendly shout-outs and hellos and what-not! @fatalfangirl @prettygoododds @hushed-chorus @brilla-brilla-estrellita @youarenevertooold @alleycat0306 @anxious-m3ss @ileadacharmedlife @whatevertheweather @nightimedreamersworld @cutestkilla @raenestee @aristocratic-otter @supercutedinosaurs @thewholelemon @ebbpettier @artsyunderstudy @ic3-que3n
