Soooooo i ofer my work to the skandar fandom. I dunno if exist but i wanted to draw one of my favs. Flo shekoni. I love her so much. Pls dont throw me spoilers. Im in the second book so i'd be so happy if you dont do that. Anyways, english is not my first lenguage:3

Can I just say this? The prologue of "Skandar and the Unicorn thief" slays on so many levels, it is hard to contain joy.

When I was like 12, I was obsessed with unicorns. Pink, fluffy and dancing on rainbows. Some even pooped cupcakes. This obsession was lost as the years passed by and especially because of COVID and my new obsession with dragons.

Comes the day I'm 15 almost 16 and I was in London on vacation in June. And in a Waterstone shop window I saw the poster. Huge, red and written in golden letters "Skandar and the Unicorn thief". An epic unicorn on it, a young boy as its rider. A few days later I bought it and then I read the prologue, sitting in the hotel room. It blew me away. Gone was the picture of unicorns being cutesy, in its shambles sat a snarling, growling, bloodthirsty beast. And I was hooked.

This summer I was in Scotland on vacation and I walked past a Waterstone again. In its shop window was a poster. It displayed a mix of the book covers of Book 1 to 3 and I couldn't help but grin, that all three were nestled in my book shelf waiting for Book 4 and 5 and a potential novella. I will buy a poster one day, put it over my bed (even though I will be 19 by the time the fifth book comes out) and stare at it the same way Skandar admired Aspen McGrath and New-Age Frost.

I was really ever so hyped about books and I still refer to these books as "the books about bloodthirsty unicorns" simply because it causes a shock in people.

I am so stocked for the last book coming out in August!!!

What series should I read after I finish skandar and the unicorn thief??

I hope Mitchell and Skandar are best friends by the end of this series, if not the first book. Bobby and Flo too but Mitchell going from low-key fearing and disliking Skandar and seeing Scoundrel as an abomination to being best friends with Skandar and being like, if you want to hurt Skandar or Scoundrel, you have to g through me, would be everything.

Also can I just say, I love these characters so far. Skandar being socially awkward and not knowing how to interact. And Flo being just very nervous about this entire thing. So far they all feel very human. None of them are perfect, which I like.

Also the spirit element opens up a bigger thing here, because there's a lot of secrecy from the island which does kinda make sense but then they also expect Mainland riders to have the same knowledge as Island riders even though they purposely keep information from them. Like Skandar is lucky that he met Mitchell and Flo first because imagine you're from the mainland, you bond with a unicorn, and you think this is really cool. Then you go back to join everywhere else and are promptly killed for having a forbidden unicorn, which you didn't even know existed. It just seems weird. Also the fact that making these unicorns forbidden because of the Weaver actually just makes them become wild so gives the Weaver more unicorns to possibly control? Doesn't seem like the smartest way of doing things.

I'm honestly loving this book so far. Do we know how many there will be? There were six years mentioned so will there be six books? Or is the third the last one?

Edit: I looked it up, five books and an in-world novella.

Specifically the end

Okay, so hang in there, but I've got to rant.

Book 4 is finally (!) out and even earlier than expected?! Like, it was published in October/November but the last one dropped in like June? Which is amazing!

However, the question of who killed Nina Kazama still has not been answered!!!

In "Skandar and the Chaos Trials" Nina was killed. Shortly after her death had been announced, Skandar visited Kenna in the Sky Forest to talk to her about him suspecting Rex Manning, because he was wearing Nina's mood ring. Kenna defended him fiercely, saying that it wasn't him! And as we know Nina and her unicorn were found dead in the Sky Forest. So Kenna probably has a good idea of who it had been. Now, it wasn't mentioned in her POVs in "The Skeleton Curse", but I really can't think of a reason why she would defend him, if Skandar had already been talking badly (justified!!!!) about Manning. Also, Rex is not as powerful as Nina. We saw that when she became Commodore of Chaos. She bested Manning! So, how could he have beaten her? Even killed her? No, Nina would have made it out alive!

Another detail that was shown in "The Skeleton Curse" was that Kenna was kind of a unicorn whisperer. What if the Weaver showed her how to do that on the example of Nina Kazama? And then she killed her to put the island into chaos a bit?

However, I have to admit this is all a bit of a stretch? I am really looking forward to see this mystery solved!

Now a little detail in the prologue of "The Skeleton Curse": The mood ring turned green. It usually means that someone is calm and relaxed. My question now is: Why is it so important to show us in a cryptic massage that Manning is relaxed? Especially, since he was planning on attacking the mainland, which actually usually filled him with excitement (he was excited about it down in the vaults).
