I LOVE seeing personal, lived culture experiences and references in media. I love media made by countries that aren't considered as ""talented"" bc they're not America or some other first world European country. I love small creators. I love local studios and unheard of writers. I love when a character in media has a noticeable accent, not due to being a caricature but bc you can genuinely tell what culture they're from. I love it when minorities make characters based on the kinds of people they've known and loved irl. I love sharing smaller, less globally known cultural aspects through creations. I love when non English speakers cater to themselves or indulge in their own culture w/ fanfics and ocs and self inserts and everything. I love visible diversity. I love seeing cultural differences in the media I consume. Love love love

why is it SO overwhelming trying to run a little stationery shop by myself. i have the stuff to sell, i just… can’t seem to organize myself? like i have ideas for what to do next, and I even have some sales under my belt now, but I simultaneously have a vague idea of what I need to do next, and no idea how to go about making myself DO it.

part of it is the adhd and my executives dysfunctioning constantly. part of it is not being great at Applying Knowledge i learn online.

it’s like I need someone to tell me, okay, now do this. done it? good. now do that, and when you’re done, do this other thing.

I simultaneously want to be my own boss and also to have someone essentially boss me around. (i am great at Following Instructions and Performing Tasks at the behest of other people. but when I’m trying to do it for me, it doesn’t work, because I’m the one in charge. you get it.)

the other thing is, I would love to hire someone to fill the role if Advisor/Coach, but that costs money that I don’t have because I’m not doing what I need to do because I can’t make myself start. a vicious cycle.

but sometimes I think, oh, I just need to do [task] before I start anything else, and that’ll unblock me. but the KICKER. the kicker is that I’m also blocked on doing that task. and i’m not even sure if doing that task will open the floodgates or not. i just suspect it’s causing most of my hesitation.

all that said, uh, maybe go follow my (sorely neglected) art blog @jadefyredraws where I might start posting more shop-relevant things now that I actually have a shop open under that name. if you want. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(i may continue to post Overwhelmed Shop Owner things here, though, given that this is my personal blog and these are my personal feelings. etc.)

I also write a comic called Horserer, about a horse sorcerer who practices Horsery. He brews an evil beer, and anyone who drinks it dies in a gruesome way and becomes an abomination in his undead army against the T-Rexecutioner over a VHS copy of Top Gun. It’s as weird as it sounds. I Did It

Ok, this is amazing I recently passed the Tumblr shoelace ritual. Long story short, I was at a market day in my school and saw some stickers. Gandalf's big naturals. Even as someone who doesn't really spend that much time in the LoTR/Hobbit area of Tumblr, I knew about That. I couldn't help myself, it was right There. Probably far to giddily holding that Gandalf sticker (with wasn't just a normal old big naturals, mind you. That wizard was in a laced bra, usually enough to turn me redder than a tomato)

"Which one of you designed this?" I asked on of the two people at the stall (ps everyone was selling their own sruff, so I wasn't afraid in the slightest that the creator of this wouldn't be there.)

"She did," the one I talked to responded. Oh my heart was pounding. All social awkwardness completely evaporated in the face of THE most Tumblr Thing I could do.

"I like your shoelaces." Gosh, I wish I could have talked to literally anyone with half the confidence that I had in that moment. I'm pretty sure I saw just a tiny bit of life drain from their eyes. I'm so sorry but c'mon. Gandalf Big Natruals stickers. Did you really think you could avoid this?

"Thanks. I stole them from the president." I WILL RIDE THAT HIGH FOR THE NEXT MONTH, AT LEAST.

ps. If anyone finds my new buddy (I know it's unlikely but gotta give it a shot.) Just want to let you know that their art is amazing and you should definately by something from them if they take commissions.
