Feeling sick and very bored tonight so I decided to have some fun with Select Smart's "Which character are you" quizzes and the results were very interesting.
Did a few anime ones:
Jujutsu Kaisen
I feel like this one is actually very on point? Especially for Geto and Junpei, they are the JJK characters I relate to the most.
I haven't seen much of Kiyotaka so I can't really say much about him.
The only character that came as 0% was actually Itadori, so interesting. xD
Attack On Titan
This one was such a surprise to me, I mean, I know I have some things in common with Ymir, but 100% was a very big surprise, of course these tests are just for fun but still wasn't expecting Ymir there. xD
I remember Annie to be the first character I felt some connection with, I can indeed relate to her a lot if I stop to think about it.
Now, Floch...I feel a bit offended here, not gonna lie. :'D
I can't see where we are alike...at all.
Berth, Mikasa and Eren were the only ones at 0%.
Naruto
Not surprised at all, I always felt a very deep connection with Shikamaru, we have a lot in common (well, machism is not one of them but let's forget about that :'D).
As for Sasuke...I always knew that we were very much alike, I just never wanted to accept it because back then I really really disliked the guy and only a decade and a half later I came to understand his character and why he was and acted the way he does, now I can say I enjoy his character.
0% on Naruto...I can agree with this one. xD
Demon Slayer
I don't think I've ever talked about this anime here, it's not one of my favorites but it is one of the animes I've been following so I decided to give it a try.
I haven't read the manga so all I know is what has been shown in the anime so far... from what we've seen already I am guessing I have a lot in common with Obanai, yes.
I also felt a very strong connection with Gyutaro, mostly because of his backstory, to which I can relate a lot as well.
Apparently I have 0% similiarities with Inosuke which may be why he gets on my nerves so much. xD
Chainsaw Man
I don't know much about the Angel Devil yet so I can't really tell much about this one, however, I can totally see why Kobeni is second...as for Makima...🚩☠️ I guess?
0% for Power this time, I can see why.
Bleach
I haven't finished Bleach yet but why not? LMAO
Not much to say about this one, I don't see the similarities this time, at all. xD
0% for Unohana Retsu for this one.
Tried a few One Piece ones but the questions were just meh so I gave up. :(

Avengers genderbend where every member backstory or appearance is SO DRASTICALLY different due to the gender switch. except Loki who is exactly the same
#think about it#Natasha's Red Room training would've probably put her in a program closer to the winter soldier one right#Thor doesn't get with the masc cultural standard of Asgard anymore he's some hyperfeminine girlypop who wants to also slay enemies despite#steve rogers wouldn't have been expected to go to war at all but let's suppose he fought to get there and was serum selected for her heart#her stage performances would have been different for sure so the eventual combat outfit would have been different. for sure#Tony Stark being a smart woman in STEM would've had to face more pressure to prove her place in the field#probably makes her actually arrogant but more aware of the impact her work has. probably outspoken about sexist double standards#probably would come off as less reckless for decisions after creating the armour though#bet the tech bros hate her even tho she leads the field#probably seen as more of the leader of the avengers even tho normally cap is seen more that way#clint barton idk#outfit change#everyone with drastically different designs and Loki there like ‘hi’

talking to dagny about superpowers the other day and it sounds like even Worm didn’t really tackle the thing that I always find a hard sell about the sorts of powers where the logic is like ‘this person can fight real good because they’re able to calculate everything super fast so they know exactly what actions they need to take and when to dodge and so on’:
namely, that as someone who has spent time practising movement disciplines, i can tell you it’s perfectly possible to know exactly what you need to do and still fuck up the physical execution.
think about like. one physical skill people always like to claim is ‘really’ physics is catching a ball, because there’s like an equation or whatever that will tell you where the ball is going to fall. but anyone who’s played a sport has surely had the experience of knowing exactly where the ball was headed, and just not being able to get to it in time.
unless you have a secret second superpower that gives you inhuman physical reaction times and peak physical fitness and have spent a lot of time practicing acrobatics? kinda feel like you should have a perfect vision of the set of movements you need to complete to dodge the incoming fire while moving quickly into cover, faceplant on the second backflip and eat bullets.
#characteristic of comic books really#they love to present a fantasy in which there’s nothing jocks can do that you can’t replicate and more by Being Really Smart#anyway yeah so there’s obviously a variant in which someone’s power would let them know if they were going to fuck up the backflip#and will tell select the best move they are definitely going to pull off or something#but sans supplementary superpowers that ought to look a lot different#surviving that sort of encounter without doing anything the average untrained human won’t fuck up looks a lot more like#happening to have left before any violence starts happening

#he calls himself crap at making things a lot but i think he's genuinely very very smart and very creative and i love his arts & graphs#and the fact that he's even able to draw his hypothetical & sometimes legitimately complicated inventions and like put them on paper#is impressive as fuck to me honestly. RESPECT!!!!! nice work on the penis prison art too#ididathing#alex apollonov#he even went to the trouble of making an actual paper cutout of the 50 cal pool stick diagram#so he could properly demonstrate how he imagines it all working.......hes sooooo cutes#there definitely are more images than this this is just my selection smiles

idk if i can fully articulate this but i find it like, Interesting how often people seem to flinch away from the notion of a character having a genuine difficulty in academic settings that is caused by Intellect — how often people will seemingly try to get around the idea by writing something that amounts to, like “No this character is Smart, they just struggle with XYZ and if they were Accommodated for that, then they wouldn’t struggle in school” but it’s like,, why do they Have to be ‘smart’ though?

Dyslexia to Deliberate Self Sabotage but#no one seems willing to confront a ‘they just Genuinely Can’t Get It’ reading of the characters#it’s Always a ‘No they’re Really Smart BUT’ thing#like people are anywhere from reluctant to afraid to admit that some people Aren’t like that#note that i’m speaking generally in terms of academic settings which like. are a specific kind of environment that like.#doesn’t generally Do a good job of being actually indicative of how ‘smart’ a person is (just like IQ tests)#but the point still stands that - in essence - people are seemingly Very uncomfortable with the notion of intellectual disability#in any capacity — even in comparison to learning or developmental disabilities#like just look at how many people will Insist on bringing up the percentage of autistics with ‘higher than average’ IQ#with little to no provocation just in an effort to distance themselves from ‘those’ autistics

i send my friend suggestions of tourist places to see in his new country (his contract was extended, lucky him!) or messages about friend of friends i have living there that he could maybe meet for fellow americans to talk to, and his response is always that he doesnt have time. and not in that exaggerated way that people do to seem busy. but in that bone tired way i recognize from him here in LA, that i recognize in myself.
#jrnlsht#i watch the lives of my friends who have Made It on social media and its like looking through glass into another world i cant relate to#theyre so happy and confident and successful and its beautiful#you know whats a funny thing about LA#so many people on the on*line da*ting apps put *successful* on their list of requirements in the people they want to date#like theres a bar of entry and if you haven't reached a certain goal post like... blue check marks on your social media or a level of wealt#then they arent even going to want to get to know you#and its so antithetical to how i was raised i cant even comprehend#and yet i see it happening to my own relationships#in pittsburgh i had friends from literally ALL walks of life from people who made even less money than me to comfortable to fairly wealthy#here my friends are almost entirely of one professional class#and i have been observing how my hyper wealthy friends self select in who they interact with to maintain this wealthy bubble around them#i dont think it's entirely intentional but its also not not intentional if you know what i mean#anyway its one of the reasons i fucking loved the talk on saturday oh my god those two were a breath of fresh air i needed so much#these smart genius dudes built their own life and instead of constantly looking up for more and more personal gain#they paused and looked at the people still desperately trying to rise#and were like if i have gotten this far why cant i help you do it too and then they DID IT they actually started helping#i think that is the true meaning of success

About to write the stupidest fucking paper of my life let's go baby
