I can’t stop comparing 2012Leo and 2018Raph as, like, the same person, and it got me thinking- The Donnies and Mikeys are pretty similar being the OCD&Autism/ADHD bros and the more I consider them the more I liked that because things fit into place better and then it hit me.

That leaves 2018Leo and 2012Raph as the final similar duo but there’s NO WAY these guys are similar, right?

HA! My poor ignorant past self was killed in mere minutes after considering such things.

FOR YOU SEE:

On the surface, Raphael can be seen as an arrogant bully (hits brothers/insults brothers/taunts the enemy) who isn’t a team player (lone wolf for life) and tends to let impulse get the better of him (he get ANGY)

On the surface: Leon can be seen as an arrogant bully (taunts brothers/throws things at brothers/makes sarcastic comments about everyone) who isn’t a team player (fights Raph’s leadership/thinks he knows best) and tends to let impulse get the better of him (Yk, he should definitely abandon his brothers in a battle against Shredder to go talk to Big Mama)

BUT

Underneath, Raphael is constantly fighting insecurities (No one understands him!), will always be there to protect his brothers (the world is constantly out to get them), is secretly terrified to be alone (He’s quit 23 times, yet he always comes back), and will always put his family above all else (“Sorry, Slash, my brothers come first.”)

Underneath, Leon is constantly fighting insecurities (Is the face of the team all he is? Isn’t he more?), will always be there to protect his brothers (he has their best interests at heart no matter what insanity he participates in), is secretly terrified to be alone (“I need my brainy guy and my smashy guy and my eats-peanut-butter-with-his-fingers guy!”) and will always put his family above all else (dives through into prison dimension with sadistic alien and locks the door behind him)

They aren’t mirror counterparts, but if you look closely, the similiarities are there. They boast about being strong, but are scared they’re a weak link. They’re both the second youngest (canon) so they know what it’s like to have the urge to be in charge but to feel overshadowed by the ‘better’ older brother. They both tend to do whatever it takes to protect their family, and despite their “I care for nothing but myself” facade, they often are seen putting their lives on the line for friends, family, and even strangers.

They see battle as a challenge and even slightly a ‘game’, but will absolutely switch from ‘loud mouth fighter’ to their own kind of ‘silent but deadly’ when the stakes become real.

Sora headcanons!

Sora doesn't get how Samus could've fought Dark Samus without a Keyblade. Samus still can't get him to understand that, no, Dark Samus is not a Heartless, and Heartless don't even exist in her universe.

Pain & Gain, 2013 - ★★★★

Truly the American Psycho of the soon to be finished decade.

Having Bay direct this movie is perfect; given his bad habits spread over his previous movies, I really don't know if it is wholly aware of its irony and satire, but again, Mark Wahlberg as the lead is so painfully ideal. The dialogue, the story, it's so loaded; it's darkly comic, well shot with a kind of avant-garde indie vibe and edited better than a lot of Bay's usual fare.

Clearly this is director Michael Bay's most personal movie to date, based on a true story and written by the duo behind the three Captain America films and both Avengers Infinity War and Endgame. That makes this film a much more complex review than something straightforward like Transformers (Me Bay Want Smashy Splosion Murica Cheque Please).

Pain & Gain is a film about three knuckleheads so ensconced in the pursuit of the American Dream that they will do anything; grifters, wannabe gangsters. These entitled juicers, putting all of their confidence and personality into their muscles and their bullshit. Bred on this fallacy it's no wonder they end up the way they did and it's genuinely sad and frightening by the end.

The different POVs and voice overs work really well, those knock-off Mexican accents, lines like "I can deal with his impotence but not your incompetence!" are delicious, and that cut and sound editing as The Rock washes the blood off his hands, this is good filmmaking, doesn't matter how you slice it. This film is significantly underrated, The Rock gives his best performance, and the levity only serves as a palette cleanser to falsely refresh you before the next shocking dose of truth stranger than fiction.

I enjoy The Island and think it stands up as a sci-fi actioner and I have a soft spot for Bad Boys 2 and The Rock and Armageddon are timeless, cheesy classics, but Pain & Gain may be the film that (while worse than all of those) bares Bay's soul and the soul of the America he so often touts in his other films. As Danny says: "I don't want everything you have, I want you to not have it." Chilling stuff.

What would a FO AU for HTTYD look like? And vice versa? :3

i wanted to draw this out a bit, but i haven’t really had the energy/time to do much art lately so i’ll just write these down for now

because of how specific httyd’s plot is to its own universe, it’s kinda hard to translate nicely into other ones, but i would think if we were to go by the fo4 plot, it’d be something like either the rider’s are the railroad, dragons are synths, and hunters are the institute. that would make the most sense since they generally have the same roles in their respective stories.

OR we could go the fun route and make the riders ride deathclaws because HELL YEAH. toothless would be a pitch black alpha and/or glowing deathclaw that glows blue :D

other tribes, like outcasts and berserkers would definitely be raider clans :3 (gosh raider!dagur would be so cool). the hunters would also probably be raiders, mostly because i think raider!viggo is an Extremely Sexy idea.

AND, after some thot, i finally assigned fo4 characters + companions all their own dragon species:

florence - zippleback; they’re my favorite and match flo’s chaotic energy :3

faith - deathgripper; edgy and ruthless af

fillip - terrible terror; baby get baby dragon

felicia - gronckle; cute? check. friendly? check. big smashy? CHECK.

diamond - flightmare; it was the prettiest, sparkliest one she could find

marion - submaripper; char’s sole survivor! she’s got a big nautical theme so of course she had to have the submarine one :3

companions:

preston - goregutter; big!! pretty!! deer baby!! both are extremely good and valid

strong - catastrophic quaken; BIG SMASHY

cait - monstrous nightmare; !!!!!!!!!

x6 - razorwhip; razorwhips are cool as hell

gage - triple stryke; i think gage and x6 just remind me of dagur and heather respectively so i’m subconsciously associating them with their dragons

curie - buffalord; healing spit! she’d prob keep it more as a pet/assistant, but maybe could also ride it occasionally!

danse - thunderdrum; big..loud.....stupud..perfect

deacon - changewing; chaotic duo

piper - nadder; i just think it fits. piper reminds me of a bird and nadder’s are very bird like so :3

maccready - sand wraith; consulted a maccready expert (aka char) for this one. dirt boy get dirt dragon.

valentine - rumblehorn; he’s a detective. he WILL detect.

hancock - hotburple; they’re just really chill dragons

Smashy Duo - App Store Analysis

Details

Smashy Duo is an unique fast-paced arcade action game where you control 2 Heroes to hit as many monsters before one of them was knocked off from the stage.

This is a nice, quick description of the game but it also showcases a lack of grammar and proof reading. Firstly ‘an unique’ should be ‘a unique,’ with the comma after unique and secondly, they change from present tense to past tense with “was knocked off”; therefore it should be changed to “is knocked off”. 

Smashy Duo features a simple tap control where anyone can easily pick up and play without going through complex tutorials.

More than 50 Heroes to be unlocked where everyone has their own unique appearance and sound effect.

Now, this part definitely plays with the truth. While technically everything it says is correct what it doesn't specify is that each hero comes with a pair and they are always unlocked together. This means that while there are 60 total heroes to unlock you will always unlock two at a time. 

Additionally, Smashy Duo includes 5 unique Power-Ups to enhance the excitement that lies in every single match that you play.

Be warned that this could be one of the most addictive games of all time.

And I'm sure for some people it is.

Feature Highlights:

- Fast-paced, action-packed, unique, and challenging gameplay experience

Personally, I would argue that the gameplay is not challenging after all the speed will gradually increase but it does cap at a certain point which after a while doesn't feel too fast.

- Intuitive and simplest tap control

- 60 Heroes to be unlocked

- 5 upgradable Power-Ups

- Different sets of Monsters and Stages to be unlocked

- Stunning soundtrack and effect

I'm not sure the word stunning can accurately apply, the soundtrack and effects do their job, but they can feel very repetitive.

- Global Leaderboards

- Facebook friends' Leaderboard integration

- Game Center Achievements

It's been a while since I last noticed Game Center Achievements but they're popping up more often recently. This is confusing because the Game Center was removed over a year ago. Therefore these achievements are inaccessible and obsolete... at least for me anyway. 

Reviews

With more 5 star reviews than the others combined, it's apparent how good and loved this app is. Also, it does not have a single 1 star or 2-star rating in the 69 it has received. 

After reading through the 14 written reviews available, the general consensus is that the game is simple, addictive, easy, fun and ranges from good to amazing.

While most of the reviews are short and to the point, some more substantial points were that it has "cute character design", "great graphics" and it's "great for passing time". The only negative comment I found was "I swear I've heard that song at the start before", honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it sounds familiar since it's a great throwback to arcade game music.
