this is such random information but if you smoke in your room like me and can't get rid of the smell, you can put apple vinegar + baking soda + an essential oil of your choice in a small glass and put it in your room. It absorbs the smell and replaces it with the smell of essential oil. Also, after seeing the brownish yellow color the liquid will take, you might get shocked and think twice on continuing to smoke because it really is disgusting

Help I need a fucking drink but I'm in recovery. Nothings even happened. Tell me how stupid I am for contemplating this, mate.
Alright, you asked me to, so no one can then say I am being mean, just fulfilling their request which is actually very nice of me.
You are stupid. There. Ethanol is boring anyway compared to other things so why bother, just let it be. Go to sleep or something to ignore it. Yell at someone, start an argument to get distracted from your cravings. Or find something mentally stimulating to distract yourself, some kind of mystery to solve. Try to learn something new, read Wikipedia articles, watch educational videos on Youtube or origami tutorials. Or play some games.
A few years ago while I had been withdrawing from nicotine (not fully voluntarily but anyway, not the first time not the last and not the only substance but who cares) John tried to distract me by playing Cluedo, to prevent me from destroying the entire flat. However, he was not satisfied with how I played the game, although it was the only possible solution, so then I stabbed the game board against the wall. Which was also a good distraction, so play a board game with someone, start an argument about it and then stab something (preferably not something living).

Being a smoker gives me the magical ability of being painfully aware when an artist doesn't understand how cigarettes work. So here is dad's run down of how you should portray your damn cigarettes so you don't have to start smoking to know.
This is not an endorsement for smoking nor is it advice on how to start smoking, this is for use by artists so they can accurately depict a character smoking realistically. Cigarettes are very addictive and I am not advocating for people to start smoking. I am sharing the knowledge I know from my own experiences.
Stop using lit cigarettes as a source of light.
Cigarettes hardly give off any light when lit. It's not a full blown fire, it's a slow smolder, and it's not even bright enough to light up the cigarette itself, just the ash on the tip and that's all you can see if you smoke in the complete dark. If you want that extreme light source and the cigarette in someone's mouth, have the scene be someone lighting a cigarette with a lighter, that's the light you're looking for.
Actual cigarettes don't give off as much smoke as stage ones.
Stage cigarettes are formulated to be as over-dramatic with the smoke as possible so you can see it. While obviously real cigarettes do give off smoke, it doesn't linger in the air as long as stage cigarettes do, and not as densely. Also stage cigarettes are still bad for you, because you're still inhaling smoke and tar. No nicotine, but the smoke is still bad for you, regardless of what it's made out of. Stage cigarettes are also an age restricted item by the way.
The amount of smoke you exhale depends on how you smoke.
Some people smoke by just leaving the cigarette in their mouth and letting it burn, exhaling smoke occasionally, because it does build up in your mouth. Some people, like me, smoke by inhaling through the cigarette, hence all the talk of filters within the cigarette. Sometimes you just take quick inhales, so you don't exhale that much smoke. Sometimes you want to get through a cigarette quickly because you're really pissed off, so you take massive inhales and that's when you look like a fucking dragon.
Cigarettes are mostly shown with the lit end facing DOWN because if you tilt them up, they go out.
Ashtrays are designed with this in mind. They allow the cigarette to rest facing down so it stays lit. Speaking of ashtrays.
Having a cigarette rest in your mouth is actually uncomfortable, unless you're used to it, because smoke is HOT.
The smoke rising from the cigarette itself is hot, and it can get uncomfortable on your fingers sometimes unless you get used to it (I don't because I don't smoke that often).
People flick cigarettes every few seconds to remove ash from the tip, because ash getting on your bare skin HURTS, because it's HOT.
I found this one out the hard way.
Cigarettes are gendered. It's stupid, I know.
Brown tipped cigarettes, or cork tipped (not actually cork anymore, it's just paper), are considered cigarettes for men. All white cigarettes are considered cigarettes for women. There is no difference between them besides this, that I know. Most people go for the brown-tipped ones because it's easier to tell which end you put in your mouth.
The smoldering part of a cigarette is VERY HOT because IT'S LITERALLY ON FIRE. Character should be holding it by the end you stick in your mouth.
There's literally no other way to hold it unless you're wearing gloves.
Smoke rises slightly above the cigarette, not directly out of the smolder.
Well, it does, but it doesn't start to show until it's a little further away.
Wearing a baseball hat + leaving a cigarette in your mouth = Smoke in your eye.
Smoke in your eye hurts and it will happen sometimes, especially if you wear a hat.
Yes, you can smoke while raining, but why would you because your cigarette would turn to mush.
It's made of PAPER AND LEAVES.
There are TYPES of LIGHTERS!
Zippo lighters are fantastic to use in any condition because they're windproof and can extinguish themselves, but they require regular fuel and it can evaporate over time. But they last long, are built strong, and you can purchase replacement parts for every part of it. Scripto/Bic lighters are great if you just need a quick lighter that can hold a flame, but they don't last long compared to Zippos and will be blown out by passing wind (hence why people cup their hands around it). Matches should be a last resort, as they almost never work well outside. They always get blown out, and the flame is fleeting.
FYI to any filmmakers/sound designers out there - The sound of a Zippo opening and lighting is trademarked.
Alright, that's all I can currently think of for cigarette depiction advice. If you have any questions, fill free to ask, I don't mind answering anything if it keeps people from trying it themselves.

As a resident Canadian who also woke up one day and found that my windows were colored a bright, hazy orange;
-The Eastern parts of the U.S are the most heavily affected areas right now. If your skies are orange or yellow I do not suggest going outside
-Because if you breath the smoke it can very slowly kill you
-If you need to for some reason (your boss is stupid, school board is stupid, etc), wear a mask, try to take public transport (not your car, it can increase the emission levels), and try not to run around or do any sporting activities
-People living in the South also have a high chance of getting the smoke blown their way
-Anything above a 7 on the AQHI is a health hazard
-If you have respiratory conditions or a compromised immune system do not go outside unless it's for emergencies
-If you go outside and you cannot see the highest building in your town/city/area the air quality is too bad for you to go outside
