BOOMSLANG, SNAYINGS and SNIDIOMS (Snake Slang, Sayings and Idioms)
The following in a selection of common boomslang, snayings and snidioms from the Snurban Snictionary (snake Urban Dictionary):
Snoot - snout, also a mild expletive (like “shoot!”)
“What the snek?” - what the heck
Hissin’, hiss off, etc. - snake F-bomb, p*ss off
“That kinks my tail” - that frustrates/annoys me
“Keep at tail’s length” - keep at arm’s length
“Tail it over” - hand it over
Tail-holding - hand-holding for snakes
Slither - snake walk
Crawl - snake walk
“Crawl a mile in snomeone’s scutes” - walk a mile in someone’s shoes
Scute - walk/move along “Scute off!” and “Scute along.” Also the belly scales of a snake/their “feet”
(Note: “Hand” or “foot” in any snaying/snidiom should be replaced with “tail” or “scute”)
“Mice to meet you” - nice to meet you
Cloac/cloaca - A**hole, p*ssy. i.e. “Don’t be a cloac!”
Pene (as in “hemipene”) - d*ck
In blue - in the process of shedding. Shedding the skin is an exhausting week-long process for snakes. Sneople typically take the day off when fully “in blue,” as their eye caps are clouded over and they are temporarily blind.
Stuck shed/bad shed - An unsuccessful shed where a few pieces of dried skin remain on the body. Comparable to bad acne and seen (incorrectly) as unhygienic.
Regurge/regurgitate - to vomit/be sick. Sometimes shortened to “gurge” or just “puke.”
Hugger - slang for a non-venomous snerson, especially a constrictor. Can be positive/neutral or negative depending on use.
Hot - slang for a venomous snerson. Positive, typically one venomous snerson to another.
Nox/noxes - from “noxious,” slur for a venomous snerson.
(Regarding Venom: it’s kind of going the way of the wisdom tooth in venomous species. Comes in like puberty in tween/teen snakes, but not all snakes get their venom in and some get it in partially or late.
The toxicity of venom has decreased a lot since the dawn of snivilization. It is no longer strong enough to kill another snake, though it can make them sick or pass out. It can kill lizards and small mammals, though, especially in high doses.)
Spicy - a snerson whose venom has come in. “Are you spicy yet?” Shokupan ("milk bread") - an adult venomous snerson without venom. Not a nice thing to call snomebody. V-banks - Venom banks for venom donation, similar to blood banks. Venomous sneople have different “V-types.” Snake venom is used in the making of many life-saving medications.
Hatchling/hatchie - a baby snake, used by both egg-laying and ovoviviparous species
Hatchday - snake birthday
Juvi - a young/teen snake
“The Missing Skink” - the Missing Link, last common ancestor of snakes and lizards

I am currently reading a book on Asperger Syndrome, and boy do I see Severus in there. It’s complicated to explain but such books are very useful to finally put into words the subtilities of autism (particularly autism with high IQ).
I’ve just realized that Severus’ drama—as in, his tendency to resemble an actor playing a theatre play, which we witness at least four times in a spectacular way (when meeting lily, in his first potions lesson, his meeting with bellatrix and narcissa (such presence!), his first defense lesson) and many other times as a habit, could be his way to manage social settings. He, as an actor, can wear the mask of the person he wishes to be: the boy who introduces lily to magic and of whom she’s not afraid, so they can become friends like in a fairy tale (and boy did it fail); the potions master who turns potions into poetics; the dark arts and defense expert who can show off his mastery and love for the subject. There is no double interaction, only he as the focus of attention, in his element, planning and playing a scene, and the spectators, silent but admirative (hopefully). He is in some way in control. Though of course it all crashes down some time later.
His devotion to a childhood friend seems also very innocent, idealistic, romantic like autistic people love. His Patronus became a doe, very beautiful and quite harmless.
The clothes he is wearing, all for comfort and to drive away potential enemies, because he knows he is vulnerable under the shell. It must also be incredibly soothing for sensitivity to touch stimuli.
Occlumency as a shield to protect his psychological/mental vulnerability.
His need to speak softly and for the class to be silent, a blessing against sensorial overdrive—school must be hell otherwise. His emotional collapses throughout the years.
How he never fit, how while lily was in a group of popular girl friends and the marauders constituted the group of popular jocks, he was unpopular and visibly lonely at best, a lapdog to groom at worst with illusions of love and protection. He is the obvious, easy target for bullying, and of course the teachers will prefer the more social, flamboyant, shining bullies over the hopeless victim.
He is abandoned and betrayed by everyone, his teachers, his friend, the death eaters, until he decides he doesn’t want to be hurt anymore and thus becomes hostile, attacks first so he can protect/defend himself.
And of course, he is used to and willing to abandon having a social life, all ideas of having friends, and that comes useful when as a spy in his last year. Although he can still feel lonely, since that loneliness wasn’t entirely by choice at first.
The way he blames himself for fucking up his friendships and probably his whole life (internalized guilt common to autistic people).
His devotion to protect people.
The friendship with lily that is "intense" and blends between fraternality, friendship and romance.
His heavy link with femininity (he’s quite androgynous), his soft (although strict) ways to live, his affinity for women over men (men who do abuse him a lot). His interest for poetry, the fine ways to speak, the delicate and subtle science of potionmaking (which breaks stereotypes of men who must be talented in physical subjects such as quidditch or "foolish wandwaving").
His unkept body (greasy hair, sallow skin, probably underweight, yellow finger and yellow crooked teeth), which stems from 1) poor self esteem thus poor self care, 2) not knowing how to take care of himself further than the basics, 3) it’s very tiring and why would he care? Intellect >>> physical appearance (a typical thought for autistic neurodivergents).
I don’t know, it’s all about those details and the character they contruct that appeal to you as neurodivergent. Little things that could be caused by anything else but that are striking for someone who knows where it all comes from.
Ah, and autism is comorbid with social anxiety and depression (wink wink sneep)
I might try to build a case for Snape as very probably autistic in the future.

Not to confuse with:
Snappy-ness
noun, feminine, singular, also written: snappyness, snappiness (homonyms)
Being snappy, being like Snape.
ex: believing in snappy-ness is believing that you can be snappy, which means being happy and and snappy like Snape, or happy being like Snape and snappy, or a Snape that’s happy and snappy.
@snictionary
The one thing that will always get to me about Severus Snape, was that he never had a chance to be happy after he’s played his part in the war. He was miserable his entire life, and if anything in the HP series, it’s that he had no chance at redemption

"Take me to snape church" fucking ended me that is one of the best things I've ever seen on this hellsite (affectionate)
It's both unfortunate and hilarious that the sn- prefix is used both for snails and Snape

On the one hand, there's always gonna be a part of my brain that has alarm bells going off whenever someone even jokingly refers to people in a way that distances them from humanity.
On the other hand, homosnapien is a hilarious pun and fits right in with the rest of the snictionary.

Snape Hate
so i’d thought i’d share these 2 experiences just to show how snape hate affects people.
1) when i first started this account on instagram in march, i made friends with someone (xxx) on their personal account (they had photos of themselves & were public). i had like two dozen followers and out of all of them, xxx would always comment on my posts. my account grew a little bit which attracted some hate. xxx would still respond to my posts but i noticed them doing it less frequently because each time they’d get some nasty response from a complete dickhead. then one day, xxx unexpectedly messages me this 10 paragraph message that they were deleting their account. their reason? people were sending dms with hate on xxx’s appearance. so, how does xxx’s appearance (which was quite lovely, by the way) correlate to their opinions on a fictional character? why would anyone feel the need to send this very sweet person hate? xxx literally deleted their OWN PERSONAL account, with all of their irl friends & family, because of some hellspawn’s horrible messages. i have not spoken to xxx since as they have not (to my knowledge) reactivated their account.
2) this is my own ‘story,’ and it was after the lovely snapehateclub gave me a story s/o. obviously, the swarm of antis faithfully infiltrated my posts & i got a LOT of dm hate. over 2 days, i think i got 80+ messages. b/c i was a stupid instagram noob, i actually took time to answer most of the messages. a lot of them blocked me after that but here are a few hilarious ones i screenshotted:
these are funny to read now (also, i LOVE the ‘it sounds like you are shipping snape with hater,’ maybe this could be a @snictionary sub-definition?) but i was still relatively new with the whole social media business & most of the messages weren’t this nice. i admit that one of the messages in particular (a cross between death threats and insults) made me want to cry (poor 2017 me). i wanted to delete my account because it felt like the worst thing & a social media acc on a fictional series shouldn’t have made me feel that way. i still kind of want to leave instagram & tumblr at times because it’s honestly not healthy for me & i SHOULD be studying with the time i spend here (as if), but i’ve made sniends and everything’s a lot better because i actually know not to respond to death threats.
summary (aka what i was trying to convey but probably failed to): SNAPE HATE IS OKAY. YOU CAN DREAM ABOUT DROWNING HIM IN YOUR SINK AND TEARING OUT HIS NASTY GREASY HAIR (maybe consider a therapist but there’s still hope!!). YOU CAN WRITE ON YOUR ACCOUNT HOW MUCH YOU DESPISE HIM. HELL, YOU CAN DEDICATE WHOLE-ASS ACCOUNTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF HATING HIM (again, therapy?). but do you know what’s NOT okay? doing everything to other people that you hate snape for: bullying. you can think that you’re justified in expressing your opinion to filthy bottom-feeders who appreciate that nasty potions worm, but YOU ARE NOT. you DO NOT get to cause someone to delete their account because they cried literal tears after you insulted their appearance. you DO NOT get to send DEATH THREATS to people. if you do, firstly, you should really feel fucking horrible about yourself. if you don’t feel horrible, here’s another incentive: WE CAN FIND YOU. if you’re a 12 year old internet troll who thought it’d be funny to send an anon tumblr message saying “i’ll kill you tomorrow with a bomb,” you WILL BE TRACED. and suddenly it’s not fun & games when the police or other authorities get involved, is it?
TD;LR: don’t be a fucking DICK & send hate messages to people. you have no idea how much it affects others AND you can be tracked.

snarcasm
/sn ɑːkaz(ə)m/
noun
A combination of snark and sarcasm. Especially typical for Severus Snape.
I’m learning loads from professor Snape but he could tone down the snarcasm when teaching 11-year-olds.
