Boyfriend!Vinnie who's incredibly chuffed at the fact that the whole world knows that the two of you are dating! You two are like the it couple on TikTok. Both your comments and his are filled with either people gushing over the two of you or gay men jokingly commenting things along the lines of 'guess I'm sleeping on the highway tn'.

Boyfriend!Vinnie who liked that you weren't super online. Sure, you had all the usual social apps but you weren't exactly one to post. But now? Vinnie loves how much you post. His fame kinda rubbed off on you! So you had to give in to the demands of fans to post more.

Boyfriend!Vinnie who significantly reduced the amount of thirst traps he would post since the two of you became official. But on the other hand, Vinnie is the typa guy who encourages you to post thrist traps! He not only wants to enjoy the videos of you looking fuckin' hot, but he also wants other people to see how hot his boyf is!

Boyfriend!Vinnie who literally reposts your TikToks. He might as well be a fan.

Boyfriend!Vinnie whose fans constantly ask to see you on streams. It's funny really. As soon as it became public knowledge that you were dating the streamer, his fans slowly stopped asking him to strip or show off his muscles and instead ask to see you.

Boyfriend!Vinnie who fucking LOVES doing couple TikToks with you! He's sending you every couple trend that comes up on his FYP and (not so) subtly begging you to do them together. And holy shit do the fans EAT it up. And you also really enjoy them too...

Boyfriend!Vinnie who snapped a selfie of him smirking as you lean over him and bend out of the car window to order at a drive-through; your ass looking extra thick in your baggy jeans and your back arching perfectly. That picture was not only posted on TikTok but also on Instagram... The caption on the picture was the usual trend caption of 'he wanted to order'. But the caption Vinnie added to the post? 'Jealous?'

Boyfriend!Vinnie who was more than happy to copy your pose in a snap you sent him; flexing his huge bicep and showing off his tattoos. The blonde hit the repost button so fast when he saw that you posted it as a TikTok. A smile crept onto Vinnie's face as he read your thirsty 'BOOM SHAKALAKA YES GAWD' caption. But his favourite part of the post was your cute attempt at flexing your own bicep; which no matter how built you were, was nowhere near as beefy as your boyfriend's.

Boyfriend!Vinnie who couldn't stop watching your video with him doing the smudged lipstick trend. The same snippet of the Cigarettes After Sex song would replay over and over again but Vinnie couldn't care less. He focussed on every detail. He watched with pride as his big, veiny hand cupped your soft face. He chuckled to himself when he came into frame covered in lipstick marks. And holy shit Vinnie's ego would swell each time he saw how lovingly you looked into his eyes. All the man could think as he rewatched the video over and over was 'He's so pretty...'

Boyfriend!Vinnie who convinces you to let him post a TikTok of you both running into each other on the street and fake fighting. The fake fighting quickly turns into making out as the guitar riff of 'I don't wanna be me' by Type O Negative plays. People fucking ate that TikTok up; it became Vinnie's most-liked post almost overnight. The steamer was also very smug when he noticed that you'd changed your lock screen to a screengrab of the two of you making out from that video.

Boyfriend!Vinnie who took a whole day to be convinced to film one specific trend with you. You wanted to do a trend where you mouth off to Vinnie and tell him to make you shut up; prompting him to grab your mouth and squish your cheeks roughly. The thing is, Vinnie didn't wanna be so rough with you. Cute. You did convince him though! And the end product not only had viewers frothing at the mouth, but you also found it really hot. The way your boyfriend's veiny, tattooed hand looked so rough as it griped your face; it was hot~

Boyfriend!Vinnie who got a little annoyed when you called Tom Holland hot when the two of you were watching Spiderman. As 'punishment' you were put into a gentle headlock and forced to lie on Vinnie's chest for the rest of the movie. Which let's be real, that's more of a reward. Your boyfriend chuckled to himself when he saw that you took a short video of his muscular arm squishing your face and posted it with the caption 'Bottom Jail 'cause I called Tom Holland hot...' Vinnie then spent half an hour pissing himself with laughter as he read the comments on that video; people screaming at the information of you being the bottom, and other people replying that it was fucking obvious...

Boyfriend!Vinnie who posts a video of picking you up and putting you on the kitchen counter just to see your reaction. What your boyfriend didn't expect was for you to be so ready for him; a smile making its way onto your lips as your wrap your legs around Vinnie's waist and your arms around his neck. You go in for the kiss and who's Vinnie to deny you? You were abruptly stopped when you started to subtly grind into your boyfriend. Vinnie quickly broke the kiss and chortled "Babe I'm recording-!" not wanting at least 500k people to see how good you could be to Vinnie~ Safe to say you scolded the man quite a bit (which he left in the video)

Boyfriend!Vinnie who watches lovingly as you film a cute Get Ready with Me in the bathroom, only to get a strong urge to get in the video once you're done. You didn't mind it at first, just focusing on recording. But when Vinnie hugs you from behind, starts kissing on your neck, smirks to the camera? You can't exactly ignore him. The straw that broke the camel's back was when a mischievous look took over his eyes and next thing you knew, your boyfriend was giving you fake backshots and then quickly leaving the frame. You rolled your eyes and ended the video; shouting at your boyfriend but laughing with him at the same time. You still posted the video though...

Boyfriend!Vinnie who's more than happy to show off his strength not only to the camera but to you when you ask him to do a trend using Sabrina Carpenter's 'Slim Pickins'. As the audio played 'A boy who's jacked n kind, can't find his ass to save my life', you faked looking around as Vinnie stood behind you. As soon as the lyric ended, Vinnie had lifted you up and placed you on just ONE of his shoulders; holding you in place by wrapping his arm around your thighs. Holy shit this man is truly jacked.

Boyfriend!Vinnie who has the cutest and funniest reaction to the 'my current boyfriend' trend. You had told Vinnie that you were doing a 'never have I ever', but when you started the video with "Me and my current boyfriend are doing a..." anything else you said went in one ear and out the other. You held in a laugh as you saw your boyfriend's funny, confused and shocked face on your screen. But you had to break character when Vinnie quickly shot back with "Me and my ex-boyfriend are doing a fuckin' whatever- what did you just say? 'Me n my current boyfriend'? I will punch you in the dick" That reaction made you break out into a cackle. You had to apologise profusely after that one~

Boyfriend!Vinnie who didn't expect people to even thirst over your eyes and his when the two of you did the eye trend. It was cute n all but god damn were those comments filled with compliments on things as miniscule are your eye shape! People were saying that you and Vinnie were 'meant to be together 'cause your eye shapes are complimentary'. Like WHAT?! You didn't mind the compliments and affirmation though~

Boyfriend!Vinnie who's fifty-fifty on all of the attention the two of you receive, but one thing's for sure. And that's that Vinnie fucking loves you, and he loves that he gets to show off that you're his to anyone willing to watch.

I've gotten a hold of a very rare issue of Nintendo Dream from October 2017, containing an interview with the Splatoon developers. like seriously, i hadn't seen any documentation of this anywhere. HUGE huge thanks to @squidhominid, who spent Too Much Money to buy a copy and scan it!! Since a lot of it is formatted in blurbs like what's pictured above, I'd been unsure how to organize and share translations...I've decided I will gradually share snippets of it like so and compile it all later. In relation to the characters from Story Mode The Rule-abiding Octarian Army

---Is Octavio a DJ and a general? Inoue: Well, his name is General DJ Octavio (laughs). He commands the Octarian army, so naturally he's a general. [[TN: Octavio's JP name includes "General" rather than just "DJ Octavio" like in english.]] ---Going off of that, there are other ranks, right? Amano: That's right. The Octarians as a species act seriously, so if they didn't have ranks they wouldn't be able to work properly. (laughs) Inoue: Originally, we made Octavio as a character as a pair to Cap'n Cuttlefish on the Inkling's side. Now as for why Octavio is an octopus that holds wasabi sticks... the act of "grating" wasabi made us think of "scratching", and "scratching" made us think of "DJ"...So he came to be both a general and a DJ. [[TN: takowasa, or octopus and wasabi paired together, is a popular izakaya snack. Same goes for atarime, (cuttlefish's JP name) dried squid. It's supposed to be like a snack showdown.]] Nogami: The Octarians are led by music. Octavio makes his own music to control them. Inoue: The music tells them to move and work according to the rules (laughs). ---So, for him as a general, is the music just for controlling the Octarians? Or does he enjoy it? Amano: It is for leadership, with that 'duntz duntz' sort of tempo. So I think for him, he sees the popularity and influence of the Squid Sisters as something that has a military-like controlling power. ---Is Cap'n Cuttlefish unable to turn into squid form, and can Octavio not turn into humanoid form? Amano: Cuttlefish can probably transform and produce some ink, but not like he could in his younger years. It's like when your grandpa says he's gonna do a squat, and he can kind of do it, but not really... it's like that. Inoue: Octavio became unable to take on his humanoid form due to an injury he got long ago. In a Sunken Scroll in S1, you can see a figure who appears to be Octavio before he was injured.

I was troubled by the fact that when this info was brought up by the writers of nintendo dream in that 2018 issue in a way that made it sound like obvious information, they didn't say when or where they heard it...but this is it.]]

hi love! i am working on a full-length fic where this is literally the entire plot omgomgomg, i'll post a little snippet here!

its still a wip so it wont be perfect but its first person perspective in this part, and i'm thinking of going back and forth between povs to show shig and readers sides equally.

also, reader is fem/afab, same age as shig, and alt. she has a quirk, too (not a healing one either).

i type out a half-assed response but feel a ping of excitement inside of me. i fall asleep with my phone on my chest, waiting for a reply.

i wake up around 1pm, the daylight searing through my curtains. i feverishly reach for my phone, only to find it flung off the bed. i drape myself off the side to reach it, eager to read any messages.

i flit through the random notifications, only to find disappointment. i open up discord, wondering if maybe i just fell asleep with my phone on, but there's no response from him. i see him active and type out a message, ultimately deleting it. if he wants to respond, he will.

i haul myself out of bed and head to the shower, leaving my phone behind, slightly jaded knowing i was left on read. i let the warm water wash over me, soaking up the few minutes of peace before i exit and get dressed. i continue ignoring my phone until i hear a ping. i rush over to it, feeling slightly embarrassed that i'm this concerned already. i open discord again, expecting a message from him, but it's not there. instead, a string of messages from someone else sits unopened. my brows furrow and i open the dm confused.

The show in Philadelphia is opening up for my old friends, the Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. My connections to members of that band go back 20+ years to my 964 Natoma days. I first encountered Nils Frykdahl in the previous millennium while he was playing amplified flute in the rafters of the warehouse along with Dan Rathburn making noise and sparks with an arc welder that illuminated butoh performer Shinichi Moma Koga contorting himself on a metal grate. Anyway, Sleepytime is a delightful group of very talented avant garde art rockers and this year needs more of their unfiltered catharsis. I immediately said yes when they asked if I would play for one of their East Coast dates to support their new album.

The Big Ears festival is something I’ve wanted to play at for almost a decade, so I am beyond thrilled to be added this year. I’ll be sticking around for the festival to hear as many of the other artists as possible, it’s off the hook, check it out https://bigearsfestival.org/

More concerts dates are coming in the autumn. East, west, middle, as many as I can fit in ;-)

I am… obsessed with clingy needy Lando. And I don’t write him suuuuper that way a lot, I usually try and rein him in, but if you want me to be self-indulgent, I can and will.

Lando basically always wants Oscar. His attention, his laughter, his hands, his everything. All of it. All the time. Lando’s always been like that with the people he cares about. Max F, Carlos, everybody he’s ever dated… He knows he’s needy. He can usually keep a pretty good handle on things, though (he’s had a lot of practice). But sometimes, when his guard is down or when things are bad, his control over it slips a bit. And with Oscar, it’s like it’s ten times worse.

Even before they were properly close, Lando would get drunk and start asking after Oscar. His teammate was never out with them, but Lando would have his eighth drink in the club, or he’d do some lines with Max, or whatever, and it would be “I wish Oscar was here” and “can you call Oscar and ask if he’ll meet us?” and “I bet Oscar’s still awake, should I text him?” Extremely noticeable. And some of Lando’s more casual friends would be kind of blindsided because - again - Lando’s really good at being normal about Oscar when he’s got his whole brain to work with. But it’s Saturday night in Monaco over winter break and he says “it’s morning in Australia, I can FaceTime Oscar, right?” and his friends are like “didn’t know it was like that, mate?”

(He does FaceTime Oscar, on his walk home when there’s nobody to stop him, smile dopey as soon as Oscar picks up. The sun is shining in the background and making Oscar kind of glow around the edges, and Lando says “you look like an angel” and Oscar laughs and that’s even worse, Jesus, “you’re so pretty, Oscar, did you know?” and Oscar had been in the middle of a workout, but he sucks on his water bottle and grins and lets Lando talk nonsensically at him for 15 straight minutes until he’s safe and locked into his apartment with a glass of water on his bedside table. “Put some paracetamol out for yourself in the morning, okay? And sleep tight, Lando.” “Thanks, angel.”)

The second season is really different. They’re much looser and Lando forgets more often that he’s supposed to be holding himself back, giving Oscar space. It’s stupid, he’s been doing it with everyone all his life, but it’s like Oscar wipes his mind blank, and he’s weaseling his way under his arm every other minute at the MTC, hooking a chin over his shoulder while they review data, following him into his driver’s room after practice and talking Oscar through his entire hour, every lap. Oscar never really tells him off, though. He just nods and smiles his quiet smile and drops odd comments when Lando lets his train of thought go a little too far off track.

Getting closer with Oscar is probably a mistake for at least one of them, because it’s like giving Lando’s brain permission to think about him even more. Oscar’s thread is always near the top when Lando opens WhatsApp, and tapping his number to call is too near to muscle memory for Lando to talk himself out of it when he’s drunk. More often than not when he’s out, the night begins and ends with Oscar - a “coming tn?" as Lando walks in and a blurry, giggly “‘lo, Osc,” through a dark front camera on his way out.

Oscar starts out with a hint of decorum. He’ll throw a shirt on before answering Lando’s call, flick the bedside lamp on, and prop his phone up so his face is mostly in frame. That lasts a few weeks, then he starts answering in the middle of whatever he’s already doing (like brushing his teeth, one memorable time, when Lando had insisted on counting up to 120 for him to make sure he did a satisfactory job) and in whatever state he’s already in. By China, Oscar’s answering from bed half the time, face barely discernible in the dark of the hotel room, mostly just mumbling “mhm” while Lando tells him all about what he’s gotten up to at the bars.

SNIPPET (kind of? this was a bullet point and then I realized I was typing actual prose so it’s a bit of a blend… bare with me… it was like 2am for me when this was cooked up…)

Oscar doesn’t come out after Miami. But he does - and he’d deny this to anybody except Lando himself, probably, and even then only when Lando’s too fucked up to remember it - stay up waiting for Lando’s call. He’d congratulated Lando in person multiple times at the track, but it doesn’t feel the same. It’s embarrassing to admit, but as much as he used to find Lando’s drunk calls a little inconvenient (though always distantly amusing) he’s grown quite attached to them somewhere along the line - the quiet intimacy, the little jokes and admissions and compliments Lando hands out when he’s far gone and using Oscar to bring himself down. Lando doesn’t call anybody else like that (Oscar had asked him once, when he was waiting for his Uber in some city or another at half two in the morning). It’s just for them - a special them. 

It gets late, though. Lando always rings late, but it gets late enough that Oscar starts worrying that Lando won’t call at all, that he’s taken someone home, or he’s passed out on someone’s couch, or he’s planning to be out so late it turns right over to early the next day instead. The sun is rising when his phone finally goes off. He’s dozed a bit on and off, the exhaustion of his own race winning out for minutes at a time, but he’s left his ringer on to make sure he doesn’t miss Lando. It’s a special occasion, yeah? He can’t be held accountable. He just doesn’t want to be the one responsible for bringing Lando down from his high inadvertently by shirking his cooldown call. 

Anyway, it’s past 4 a.m. when Oscar’s jolted from his half-daze by the notification, and he sees he’s missed a few texts ahead of time, asking if he’s awake. He hadn’t answered, obviously, but Lando’s calling anyway. Oscar’s too tired, brain too soft and amorphous, to decide how to feel about that at the moment.

“Morning, angel,” he says when he picks up. It’d started as a joke, as most of their little idiosyncrasies had, a reversal, but it’s probably not totally that anymore.

“Oscar,” Lando says. Oscar had expected him to be loud, still riding out his high, but he’s practically whispering. When Oscar finally musters up the will to check the screen, Lando’s in the dim dark somewhere. All quiet.

“Yeah, babe.” They don’t talk like this normally. It’s like these calls exist in a liminal space between their day-to-day lives now and whatever Oscar’s convinced they’re headed towards.

“It’s not morning,” Lando says. A light turns on off-screen.

“Not for you, maybe. I was asleep.” Oscar rubs at his eyes for effect, even though Lando’s not really looking at the phone. His eyes snap to the camera at that, though, and Oscar watches his face fall a little.

“I woke you?”

Oscar doesn’t give it long before he’s shushing Lando gently, “It’s alright. I’m glad you did, I want to hear about your night.”

Lando brightens back up. He’s not as drunk as Oscar expected, but he’s far enough from sober to be pretty suggestible, still, pretty easy with a smile.

He launches into a story about Max and some other names Oscar instantly forgets and a band Oscar’s never heard of, and - as the camera jostles with Lando’s efforts to pry his own shoes off - Oscar realizes he’s already back to his hotel room. 

When Lando hits a long enough pause in his rambling, Oscar says, “Hey, Lan, you want to get ready for bed? You should sleep a little.”

Lando’s nose wrinkles and his face takes on the petulant tilt Oscar is well-acquainted with after half a year of these late-night-early-morning calls.

“C’mon,” he encourages, “you’ll feel better tomorrow. I’ll help.”

Lando agrees, though he still looks a little sour about it, so Oscar talks him slowly through his nighttime routine between stretches of “Oh! Oscar! Max called Charles pretty five times, I think," and “Have you ever had a cherry bomb? Someone ordered me one.” Oscar helps him pick out a soft t-shirt to sleep in and reminds him to fill a glass with water for the bedside table and counts to 120 while Lando brushes his teeth, phone propped against the mirror. 

When everything’s sorted and Lando is sliding into bed, Oscar yawns and says, “Good to go?”

Unexpectedly, Lando’s eyes go big and kind of watery at that, and he picks the phone up from the covers and brings it close to his face so Oscar’s screen is mostly pout.

“You’re going?” Lando asks, and he sounds so forlorn that Oscar can feel his heart ache in his chest.

“Was going to,” Oscar confirms, even though it hurts a little, “You want me to stay?”

The light’s off, but Oscar can still see Lando hide his face in his pillow. It’s no surprise, then, when Lando’s, “Yeah. Please?” comes out muffled by the bulk of it.

Oscar softens to it. It was never a question.

“Okay,” he says, “you need me to talk? Or just stay on?”

“Stay on,” Lando says. His voice is back to normal, but it’s tiny, a little fragile. So different from the hours and hours leading up to this, Oscar thinks, contextualizing.

“Might fall asleep,” Oscar warns. His lamp’s back off, too, and with Lando safe and sound, Oscar’s bed feels cozier than ever.

“S’okay,” Lando says, “me too.”

“That’s good,” Oscar sets his phone next to him on the bed. Lando’s done the same, both screens matching black and gray, matching hotel ceilings just a few doors apart. “Goodnight, race winner.”

Lando’s laugh is mostly just a hard exhale, but it warms Oscar from the inside out just the same.

“Goodnight, angel.”

My take on the Turaga Nui, from Shauni's (@legend-as-old-as-time) WIP fic set in Rags' (@magicalgirlmascot ) KNPS AU. Snippets of the fic here and here.

In which the Turaga form a fusion in order to defeat the Rahi Nui, but their past experience with the Hordika venom results in the Turaga Nui taking on a somewhat ...unexpected form. After the battle, the Toa Mata catch up with them. Pictured here is Lewa having the appropriate reaction to finding out his six mentors have turned into some kind of weird dragon-chimera-kaiju thing.

The Turaga Nui's form combines traits from the forms the Metru had as Toa Hordika, known in this universe as the Kini Nui werebeasts. So, this was my take on them individually here:

So, in KNPS, the Toa Kaita look a lot like the Steven Universe fusions, with extra eyes and limbs. The Turaga Nui follows a similar logic but on a more bestial body layout.

The top two arms are the most humanoid, as TN signs in ASL as well as speaking aloud whenever it is practical to do so (i.e. when there is not a Toa of Air attached to their neck). The next two pairs of limbs can function either as arms or forelegs, so the digits are more paw-like.

The wings are obviously based on a snowy owl and come from Nuju's werebeast form. Male snowy owls typically have lighter coloured plumage while females have prominent black bars on their feathers. Nuju in particular would probably have been almost completely white as a werebeast given he's an ice Toa and has white hair in human form. The Turaga Nui, however, is composed of five men and one woman, so I gave them a small amount of barring on the tips of one wing while the other is plain white. (The bars also help tie it back to the badger stripes on their face from a design standpoint)

The Kaita have metallic gold or silver skin, I suggested black and white patterns for TN's colour scheme to make them visibly nonhuman but also distinct from the Kaita.

Shauni felt that there should be more accents of each element's colours, however, so we decided on the "black" scales actually having an iridescent sheen to them.

I'd already been planning to give TN spots similar to that of a newt, but didn't realise until I started doing it that white spots on black combined with the iridescent colours gives the impression of a night sky/galaxy pattern.

I had previously suggested the name "Tien" to Shauni (Turaga Nui = T.N. Said aloud it phonetically sounds like "Tien"). Turns out Shauni had the exact same thought. Furthermore, it's a name in several cultures, various meanings include "heavenly being", "celestial" and "sky" (An etymologically related name is the Chinese "Tianlong", which means "Celestial Dragon")

So, accidentally coming up with a name that means "celestial" and then accidentally making them look like a living galaxy was a fun coincidence.

Also, apparently one of Rags' favourite DBZ characters was named Tien, so that was a plus for her!

The tail has owl feathers but is structurally more similar to the tail of an aquatic newt.

The eyes are based on the Turaga's animal forms but the colours come from their eye-glow. The three eyes visible in the image are Vakama's (green), Matau's (red), and Onewa's (blue)

As previous;y mentioned, photographs of jumping ferrets helped in drawing the dragon's limbs . I also ended up referencing hairless cats to get a handle on what the paws would look like with no fur.

I did do a version that shows the full body pose, which I quite liked, but felt that the cropped composition above was better to show the character details given tumblr's scrolling format

5 - TV show of the year?

You already KNOW it's TXF. Don't lie. I've only had those funky little FBI agents since August, but if anything happened to them I would [remembers some jokes only make my mental health worse] make a whole bunch of GIFs then write a six-chapter seasonal fic where they're both happy and get to have good time.

Look out for that over the next week or so!

Anyway yeah. The X Files. The show ever, I can't believe I waited this long to get into it, it's so good and so silly and occasionally very profound but more often just silly. And it has a great and active fandom that's getting bigger by the day! Yay!

(Aside: Everyone: Drop GIF requests if you have any! I need something to procrastinate on so the above six-chapter seasonal fic gets finished ^^' They may even get made next year!)

14 - Favorite book you read this year?

My favourite book that I actually finished would have to be Tempest Pilot by Jim Sheddan and Norman Franks. It's a memoir of Sheddan's career in the RNZAF during WW2, and let me tell you, this man was insane. All sorts of hilarious escapades, on and off duty, it's a brilliant read which cuts right to the bone in places. He was one of the first people, if not the first, to successfully ditch a Typhoon, and even then came away with pretty bad injuries. I highly reccommend it, particularly to anyone with an interest in the history of air side of WW2, or aviation in general :)

25 - Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one.

Oh, interesting! I've actually made quite a few minor characters across various stories/projects, but the favourite that comes to mind is as part of my main WIP: 'Maps' Mapleton.

Despite the nickname, his surname is pronounced as 'Maypul-tn'. He appears briefly as a reoccuring character during the immediately post-WW2 period of the project, a member of the squadron that my main character, Red, is temporarily attached to, and he acts sort of like a mentor. Here are some bits where he appears so far!
