snippet from my conversation with @dashedwithromance
“hhhhhnnnnnnghhhhhh just imagining and au where it is rex and ahsoka in rogue one and them on the beach watching the shockwave coming and holding onto each other and they’re not scared cause they’re together and that’s all they’ve ever needed and they always knew they’d go down fighting and this is the end but it’s RIGHT”

anyway here's a jedi master rex and a soldier ahsoka, who's outfit is heavily inspired by @critter-of-habit 's soldier ahsoka design.

The absolute synergy between Ahsoka and Rex, the familiarity, the tenderness, the genuine care. The compassion Ahsoka had for the clones, refusing to kill them even at risk to her own life. Rex trying to look after her and the way she tenderly pulls off his mask and he’s crying for the fate of his brothers and they’re there, side by side, and he saves her and she saves him, completely loyal in the worst of times moving with perfect synchrony in battle, just as Jedi and Clone were always supposed to be -
That was beautiful.

AHHHHHHHHH 😭😭😭
Prompt list- “you’re scaring me” rex and ahsoka ?
(from these prompts)
“Rex?” Ahsoka slurred, sitting up. The fire had all but gone out completely so it was difficult to see, but she could tell his makeshift cot was empty. She pushed the scratchy blanket back, prepared to go find him. It wasn’t clear what had exactly woken her up, but the air felt strange.
Colder than it had been when they’d fallen asleep.
“You.” came a growl from behind her and then, she was on the ground with something–someone atop her, hand on her throat.
“Rex,” she choked out, thrashing against him. “What–“
“Jedi.” he hissed, tightening his grip around her neck.
She kicked up and back, sending him flying backwards, away from her. He hit the ground with hefty thump.
Ahsoka crawled backwards, quickly, breathing hard. “Rex, listen to me. It’s me…Ahsoka. You–“
He reached for his waist. Searching for blaster pistols that weren’t there.
“Rex, stop. You’re scaring me!”
His head snapped up at her words, brown eyes glowing in what was left of the fire. Her blood ran cold.
“This isn’t you–“
“Yes, it is.” he barked back, advancing on her again. She dodged his hands, no completely on her feet. “This is what I was designed to do.”
“No. No.” She shook her head furiously. “We took your chip out…remember? Rex?”
“Chip,” he repeated, his neck rolling backwards. “Not…chip–”
She took a deep breath and launched at him, pinning him to the ground. He rolled under her, his head pounding into the ground as he struggled to get away. With the Force aiding her, though, she easily overpowered him.
“This isn’t you. Rex. Look at me. Look at me…remember!” she yelled hoarsely, as she dug his shoulders into the ground.
And suddenly–like always–he went limp under her.
“Rex…?” she asked tentatively, still gripping his shoulders.
He turned his head away from her as quick as he could. But she saw the single tear run down his face.
“Rex,” she breathed, climbing off of him, and pulling him up into a sitting position. He scrambled away, but she caught him by the shoulder. “Hey. Look at me.”
He shook his head, silently. “I’m…so…”
“No,” she said firmly. “It’s the nightmare again. You’ll…you’ll get better.”
He shuddered. “Don’t want…hurt…you.”
“You won’t,” she insisted.
Rex met her gaze finally and reached a shaking hand up to her face. His fingers softly grazed her neck and she flinched. He clenched his eyes shut and turned back away as she realized what he had seen–her throat had already begun to bruise.

Rex muses on the past and looks towards the future. Inspired by "What They'll Say About Us" by FINNEAS.
This is the newest addition to my song-inspired fic series.  I am sorry in advance for the pain I am about to inflict on you. Not all my planned additions to this series are sad and angsty, I promise!! I’m posting the AO3 link at the bottom for those of you who prefer to read over there :)
The low hum of machines and the gentle beep of the heart monitor were the only sounds in the room. The light was white and sterile, but dim. None of the intensive units had windows in this medcenter. Rex sat in the chair beside the bed, leaning forward with his forearms braced on his legs, his hands clasped together. The figure in the bed didn’t stir. The slight fog in the plasticlear oxygen mask she wore was the only sign she was breathing at all.
A door slammed somewhere in the building. Feet hurried by on some life-or-death errand and then all was silent again. Time dragged on.
Rex snapped upright when the door finally opened. His eyes searched the nurse’s face, looking for news. Then his gaze dropped to the package she carried. She gave a small smile and held it out to him.
            “A girl.”
He took the bundle without a word. The nurse gave a few instructions in a hushed voice and then left them alone again.
Rex settled back into the chair, cradling the newborn gently in his arms. With one finger, his tucked the blanket closer around her tiny chin. In spite of himself, a smile tugged the corners of his mouth.
So tiny and so perfectly innocent…
            My daughter.
            No.
             Our daughter.
The smile slid from his face, a worried crease wrinkling his forehead. He glanced over to where Ahsoka lay so still, her face mostly hidden by the oxygen mask, her lekku limp. A quiet sigh dropped from his lips. They had been through so much together over the past few hours. And days. And years.
Being on the run was not exactly a restful occupation. Ever since Order 66 had come down, their life had been a constant series of hairbreadth escapes and crazy exploits as they struggled to survive in the new order of the galaxy. Fighting back. It was what they were best at after all.
Even before the Clone Wars ended, Rex and Ahsoka were a tightly connected pair. It was a connection that had deepened with time. Each understood the other perfectly: the slight mannerisms, the little quirks and bluffs, the times when one or both needed to go to medical (or to sleep) and were avoiding it. They could devise a plan which would impress even Anakin without a word being spoken aloud. A perfect team.
►◊▼◊◄
Anakin crouched low, peering through the grate of the ventilation shaft. He scowled and slithered back, careful not to make a noise. The rest of the team (including Obi Wan, Rex, Ahsoka, Fives, Echo, Cody, and a handful of others) were waiting in the junction a few meters back.
“They have motion detectors in all the vents. I don’t know how we’re going to get down. We’re lucky they don’t have sensors in the shafts too.”
Obi Wan frowned as he digested this new piece of information.
“Sounds like somebody got sick of having pests in his ventilation system.” Ahsoka whispered, causing a series of quiet chuckles from the men around her.
“Any ideas?” Anakin sounded somewhat less than hopeful.
“Couldn’t you just destroy them with the Force, Skyguy?”
“I could try, Snips, but that would probably set them off. We can’t afford to jeopardize this mission. If we’re caught here, we’re done for.”
Rex felt Ahsoka’s eyes on him and turned to face her. He tilted his head to the shaft, a questioning expression on his face. Ahsoka frowned and nodded. She unhooked her sabers and handed them to Anakin, then flexed her fingers.
“So, it’s just motion sensors? Give me five minutes.”
She headed off down the shaft and Rex followed at a crouch.
“Snips, what are you doing?” Anakin hissed.
Ahsoka poked her head around Rex to look back towards the group.
“Don’t worry, Skyguy. Rexter and I got this one covered. This isn’t the first time we’ve had to take out sensors like this. Remember that time on Cato Neimoidia, Rex?”
Rex nodded, avoiding his general's gaze.
“What in the great karking blazes were you two doing on Cato Neimoidia?” Anakin sputtered.
Obi Wan laid a hand on his arm.
“Quiet, Anakin. You’ll give away our position.”
Anakin rounded on his former master.
            “Did you know about this?”
Obi Wan only sighed and tucked his cloak closer around himself.
►◊▼◊◄
Rex shook his head. Even back then they had been drawn together, hadn’t they? With hindsight, he could clearly see the patterns that had led to his holding this child. What had begun as a slightly begrudging acceptance on his part at least, had become a steadfast friendship between he and Ahsoka as they fought, bled, laughed, and cried together. Nothing knits people together like sharing hardships.
It wasn’t until Ahsoka left the Order, however, that either of them had suspected they felt more than friendship. The aching emptiness that was left behind in the wake of her departure had weighed on them both. For Rex, each new day and mission was filled with thoughts of “the Commander” as he had still referred to her then. Was she eating enough? Did she have a place to sleep? That mission would have been a success is she had been there. How would she survive in the Corusant Underworld without someone to watch her six? The food would have tasted better if she had added some of her special Shilien spice mix to it. Did she miss him?
The last question made him feel guilty and selfish, but it always stuck around, no matter how many times he tried to change “does she miss me?” to “does she miss her master, her friends, and her way of life?”. As the time passed Rex began to realize just how important she was to him and how empty his life was without her. The knowledge scared him.
For her part, Ahsoka found that leaving Rex behind was one of the worst parts of the whole mess. When the nights were long and lonely and she couldn’t sleep, she would let her thoughts trail back to the times early in the war when the whole squad would be clustered around lamps (or heaters if the planet was a cold one). She and Rex would be side by side, planning or eating or dozing quietly between watches. Remembering those moments of camaraderie and bonding helped to bring a little warmth to her shattered heart.
►◊▼◊◄
Ahsoka shivered, the cold wind curling relentlessly up her spine. The whole unit was dead on their feet. For the past four days they had been trudging through the half-frozen muck and icy water that made up this miserable, Separatist-infested planet. The food was dry, the water was dirty, and the morale was low. Even the heaters couldn’t completely fight off the chill.
There was a sudden movement at her side. Ahsoka looked up to see the familiar form of her captain holding two ration packs and a thermajug.
            “Have a bite, Commander.”
Ahsoka flexed her cold hands and took the ration bar he offered her with a tired grin. She noted appreciatively that it was her favorite flavor.
            “Thanks, Rexter.”
            He smiled.
            “Any time, sir.”
Rex settled down beside her and opened his own ration pack. They ate in silence for a while, the light thrown by the heater casting a warm glow on their faces. A cold gust swept through the camp and Ahsoka shivered and scooted over till she was tucked next to Rex, rubbing her arms to warm them. Rex stiffened in surprise and looked down at her, a somewhat bewildered expression on his face. Ahsoka had snuggled into his side like a tooka and pulled her feet up under her cloak. She could feel his warmth even though the plastoid of his armor. It was comforting. A huge yawn almost split her face in half and she began to nod, slipping backwards. Rex laid an arm around her shoulders just in time to prevent her from falling over. She looked up at him, blinking sleepily.
            “You’re warm.”
She could see him trying to stifle his amusement under professional stoicism.
            “Glad to help, sir.”
She gave a sleepy chuckle and settled herself more comfortably, anxious thoughts of the campaign and the sharpness of the wind dispersed by his presence.
►◊▼◊◄
It was that missing presence that hurt Ahsoka the most during those days on her own. That and her constant worry for his well-being. Missions were dangerous and clones were built to be expendable. Even with Anakin at their head, the 501st still suffered casualties. It was a war after all and war didn’t discriminate when it claimed the lives of those who labored to end it. The thought that Rex might be lying in some unmarked grave gnawed at her heart.
So it went on for what seemed like ages, each day weighing down like a stone. And then Bo Katan sought out the Jedi to help with Siege of Mandalore and suddenly she was standing in a room full of her boys, their helmets painted to match her and Rex at the front of them all. It was in that moment that they both knew.
They fought side by side and each felt completed again. The end of the war was suddenly in sight; then it all fell apart. Order 66. The crash. Burying their dead. Being on the run and finding the tiny pockets of rebels hidden throughout the galaxy. Their first kiss. Confessing their feelings and falling deeper and deeper in love. Their wedding. Finding out Ahsoka was pregnant. The crazy cravings and excitement that had led up to her long labor and ended in a desperate operation. Her still, unconscious body as they raced her to the intensive unit. All these moments passed through Rex’s mind as he stared down into his daughter’s tiny face.
►◊▼◊◄
            “Throw me the charges, Rex!”
“Ahsoka, listen to me, if we’re not out of here where this thing blows….”
            “I know, just trust me!”
The red light from below flickered across her face, tight with concentration. A blaster bolt whizzed over her head and they both ducked. His return shot hit home, but several more came their way.
“We are running out of time!”
Ahsoka turned and looked at him. There was something unsettling in her glance, like she knew this might be the last time she ever saw him. Without a word, she stepped forward and pressed her lips to his. The next moment, she had turned and sprung away into the dark chasm to their left. Rex stood frozen in complete shock. He narrowly avoided the next shot aimed at him and sunk behind one of the outcropping rocks. He shook his head, counting out five seconds to get himself back together. There would be plenty of time to process what had just happened when he wasn’t on the verge of death. Right now, he had to focus if there was to be any chance of them making it out of there alive.
To say the next few minutes were tense would be an understatement. A whole squad of nat-borns were closing in around his position. A bolt clipped the top of his left shoulder and he hissed, setting his teeth against the pain. The rock formations prevented him from even seeing most of his opponents and he fired back in growing desperation.
The ground gave a sudden shudder and Ahsoka appeared in front of him, running at a dead sprint, blaster bolts streaking around her. Barely slowing her pace, she caught him by the arm and dragged him after her. They ran for their lives, chests heaving as they struggled up the rocky tunnel towards the exit. Then they were out and diving for cover. Even sheltered behind an outcrop, the shock wave from the explosion pelted them with rock and dust. Coughing, Rex rolled over further under the overhanging ledge, pulling Ahsoka with him.
They huddled there, side by side as the dust began to clear. Ahsoka turned to face him suddenly.
            “Rex…”
“Don’t worry about it, 'Soka.” He hesitated, then reached up and brushed some dirt from her cheek with gentle fingers. His eyes were soft. “I don’t mind.”
Ahsoka drew closer to him as if pulled by a magnet.
“A little cliché, don’t you think?” she murmured.
Rex smirked, his eyes drifting down to her lips.
“Maybe, but I mean it,” he whispered, and kissed her.
►◊▼◊◄
Rex stood up, his child cradled to his chest, and moved to the bedside. Gently, he threaded his fingers though Ahsoka’s limp ones.
“Your mother’s tired now, but don’t worry. She’ll wake up.” He took a shaky breath. “We’ve already lost so many. You would have loved them, all your uncles. Fives, Jesse, Hardcase, Waxer, Tup, Hevy, Ringo, Thorn, Havoc, Colt, 99. I used to think that the pain would fade, but… but it never does, kid. Those men, my brothers who share my face, my friends, the Jedi, all those kids in the temple…I promise you, little one, I won’t give up. I’ll change the world for you, and we’ll grow together as a family.”
He looked at his daughter’s calm face, her eyes taking him in with rapt attention. She was obviously a hybrid, with white-blond eyebrows and the beginnings of facial markings just visible on her forehead and cheeks. Her skin was his golden-brown, but her eyes were all Ahsoka’s. A tear fell unheeded down his cheek. He took a deep breath and kissed his wife's hand, still clasped in his own.
“And if you don’t wake up, cyar’ika, I…I'll know you tried to. I wish you could see her.” He sighed and brushed a finger along their daughter’s tiny cheek. “She looks just like you.”

Thanks for reading :) Sorry for the pain (though technically you can make it end however you want). Cheers!

Meilooruns and Gundark Snot and Hutt Slime, Oh My!
For @pinkiemme as part of the 2021 Star Wars Fun in the Sun event. Big shoutout to @lilhawkeye3 - thanks so much for organizing this event! I had a lot of fun with this prompt, and I hope you enjoy it! @starwarsfandomfests

“What’s this all about, Obi-Wan?” Anakin asked.
“I owe Dex a favor … never imagined he would call it in for this.”
It was a rare day off for both the 501st and the 212th while they were on leave on Coruscant. Luckily for them, their leave coincided with the beginning of Coruscant’s summer, and it was on such a warm sunny day that Obi-Wan rounded up Anakin, Ahsoka, and Rex for a trip to Dex’s Diner at the request of the diner’s owner. Outdoor seating had been added for the season, and the group sat themselves down at a table under a large umbrella as Obi-Wan went inside the diner to inform Dex of their arrival.
“Gotta say, this is not how I imagined spending my day off,” murmured Anakin as he drummed his fingers on the table.
“Beats meditating in the temple like Master Yoda would want me to do,” Ahsoka responded.
“I just can’t believe I’m going to eat something other than standard issue rations,” said Rex. He wore his full armor, without his helmet, and he shifted uncomfortably in his seat next to Ahsoka. “If the men knew where I was they’d be jealous.”
Obi-Wan soon came back out from the diner, followed by a Besalisk man carrying covered trays in two of his hands.
“Everyone, this is my friend Dex, the owner of the diner,” Obi-Wan said as he introduced the Besalisk man with him. “Dex, this is Anakin Skywalker, his Padawan Ahsoka Tano, and Captain Rex of the 501st.”
“Wonderful to meet you all! Any friend of Obi’s is a friend of mine!” Dex greeted them all in a booming boisterous voice. “I have concocted some original flavors of ice cream I hope to serve at the diner later in the season, and I have invited you all here to sample them.”
Obi-Wan sat down next to Anakin, and the four of them watched as Dex sat his trays down on the table and took off their covers. On each tray were two small bowls containing scoops of blue ice cream and spoons.
“First, I am starting you off with some standard sweet bantha milk ice cream to cleanse the palate.”
“Ice … cream?” Rex asked, curious and confused. He watched the others take bowls before grabbing the last one for himself, and after seeing Ahsoka shove a spoonful into her mouth, he followed suit.
“Good isn’t it?” Ahsoka asked him.
Rex nodded as he finished his bite. “It’s … cold. And sweet. Not too much though, just the right amount.”
“You’ve never had ice cream before, Captain?” Dex asked in disbelief. “You clones are putting your lives on the line for the Republic every day and you don’t even get to enjoy the simple luxuries of life? Unacceptable! I’m sending some back to your barracks with you, enough for your whole battalion!”
“That’s very kind of you, sir. Thank you.”
“No, thank you.” Dex pulled a small comm device out of his apron pocket and pressed a button. A short moment later, a procession of server droids came outside to the table, each holding a tray similar to the ones Dex brought out.
“Now if you’re ready, here is my first original creation: meiloorun melon tart! Give me your honest feedback, please.”
The first droid in the procession set down the tray and pulled off its lid, revealing four bowls of magenta-colored ice cream with swirls of orange. Everyone grabbed a bowl and dug right in.
“Not bad,” commented Anakin. “has a nice tangy flavor.”
“This is delicious, Dex,” said Obi-Wan, “I appreciate how the sweetness doesn’t overpower the natural flavor of the fruit.”
“This tastes almost like real fruit,” said Rex before taking a second bite of it.
Ahsoka, meanwhile, took one bite and set her spoon down. “It’s way too bitter,” she said.
“I think you need to get your taste buds checked, Snips,” Anakin teased her.
“Come now, what may be appealing to humans may not appeal to people from other species,” Obi-Wan admonished him.
The next flavor of ice cream Dex had them sample was called jogan fruit cookie dough. The ice cream itself was white, and it contained chunks of purple cookie dough as well as chocolate chips. Obi-Wan ate it silently, then gave a small smile and nod of approval to Dex.
“It’s a little too sweet for me,” said Anakin before he dug his spoon in to take a second bite.
“I think it’s the perfect blend of sweet and sour,” Ahsoka told Dex.
Rex, however, suddenly dropped his spoon onto the table. His face scrunched together in a wince, with his lips puckering together.
“Is it too sour for you, Rexter?” Ahsoka asked, a teasing lilt in her tone.
All Rex could do in response was nod. His face slowly relaxed, and he picked his spoon back up.
Next, Dex had a serving droid bring them glasses of water, and he also advised them to have another bite or two of the blue bantha milk ice cream as a palate cleanser. As Obi-Wan surveyed the colorful assortment of ice cream on the table, and the varying opinions from his friends, he thought that Dex really couldn’t go wrong with any flavor.
That is, until Dex served them ice cream that was a mossy shade of green with flecks of brown and gray. “Kalpa sea thread!” he declared.
Obi-Wan, Anakin, Rex, and Ahsoka all glanced at each other uncertainly. None of them imagined that Kalpa sea thread and ice cream were a winning combination. Regardless, the shrugged and dug in.
Ahsoka started with a small spoonful, but then followed up with a larger one, making sure to get some with plenty of gray and brown flecks. When she finished that bite she gave her review: “Honestly, I don’t taste anything.”
“It tastes … odd.” Rex commented.
Obi-Wan finished his bite and stared down at his bowl, stroking his beard as he did. “I suppose … if the meiloorun melon wasn’t available, this would do in a pinch.” His tone was even, neutral, the voice of someone giving a diplomatic answer. Dex responded by quirking a skeptical brow at him.
Anakin, on the other hand, scarfed down the contents of his bowl in only a few bites. “This is fantastic!” he proclaimed. “Got that nice herbal zest, a bit of mint-“
“You like it … and you said I was the one who needed to get her taste buds checked?” Ahsoka asked, raising a brow in skepticism.
“Hey! Like Obi-Wan said, different species of people like different flavors sometimes.”
“Yeah, but you’re the only human here who-“
“We don’t need to reach a consensus, we just need to be honest in our assessments.” Obi-Wan interrupted Ahsoka. Both Ahsoka and Anakin shot him a look, as Obi-Wan’s non-answer to Dex had not gone unnoticed by them.
“You could not have said it better, Master Kenobi,” said Dex before motioning for the next serving droid in the procession.
The droid set down the platter and removed its cover to reveal ice cream that was a pale green, with chunks of yellow and gray candies embedded in the ice cream.
“What is this?” Anakin asked as he took his bowl, staring at its contents quizzically.
“Gundark Snot – only because that’s what the coloration reminds me of! I promise you no Gundark parts or excretions were involved in the making of this flavor!”
“You got close enough to a Gundark to see that?” Rex asked as he took a bowl for himself.
“A story I shall regale you with another time, Captain.”
“It’s a good one too. I was there,” added Obi-Wan before he had his first bite of the ice cream. He grimaced in response to how it tasted, and once he swallowed it down he gulped down some water. “I can’t say I enjoy this, Dex,” he said apologetically.
“Me neither,” Anakin said after he had a bite of it. “Tastes like raw meat.”
Rex merely shook his head as he stared down at his bowl, looking as if he was thinking of a way to succinctly and diplomatically express his opinion on it.
“This is great!” Ahsoka chirped in between spoonfuls.
Anakin, Rex, and Obi-Wan gawked at her.
“What? I never imagined ice cream could taste so savory. Got a nice bit of salty tang to it too!”
“Well, I guess I can count on it to be a hit with my Togruta customers,” shrugged Dex.
After another glass of water and a few bites of blue bantha milk ice cream to cleanse their palates, Dex served up the final round of ice cream.
“Hutt Slime!” He proclaimed, gesturing to the bright yellow ice cream before them.
Anakin scowled at the name. Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow at Dex. Ahsoka and Rex glanced at each other and then shrugged.
“I was pleasantly surprised by the Gundark Snot, maybe I’ll like this too,” Ahsoka said before she took a bite of the Hutt Slime ice cream. Almost immediately she grimaced at the taste and shook her head. “Or not … it tastes kind of like what a baby Hutt smells like … it has a funky aftertaste, too.”
“Bet you don’t remember little Stinky so fondly now, eh, Snips?” Anakin teased her. He looked down at his own bowl, considering its contents with a furrowed brow, and it wasn’t until he saw Obi-Wan take a bite that he had one as well. He nearly gagged on it as he swallowed it down.
“I don’t care for this,” Rex said plainly after sampling the contents of his bowl. He chased it with water and another bite of blue bantha milk ice cream, only to wince and shudder at the combined taste of the blue bantha milk and the Hutt Slime aftertaste.
Not even Obi-Wan could keep a neutral expression. He shook his head and forcefully pushed the bowl of ice cream away from him. “This is not your best work,” he said to Dex.
“They can’t all be winners, I suppose.” Dex shrugged. “But a few of them were good, right?”
“They were culinary masterpieces, my friend.”
--
“I gotta say, Obi-Wan, this is not how I imagined spending my day off.” Anakin said. He and Ahsoka were at work loading temperature-controlled crates into the back of their speeder. Each crate contained a large tub of ice cream in their favorite flavors: Kalpa sea thread for Anakin, meiloorun melon tart for Obi-Wan, Gundark Snot for Ahsoka, and blue bantha milk for Rex. Dex also informed them that he would send a variety of flavors, including his experimental ones, to the barracks where the 501st and 212th were quartered during their time off the front lines.
“But I still had a good time, and I now know where to get the best ice cream on Coruscant.”
“Agreed … do you think I could lure Masters Windu and Unduli to Dex’s to try the Gundark Snot?” Obi-Wan asked, his tone laced with mischief.
“Most definitely. I want to see their faces when they try it.” Anakin answered.
“I wish I got a picture of your face when you nearly choked on the Hutt Slime,” Ahsoka said to Anakin. “Or Rex’s when he had the sour cookie dough flavor!”
“Or yours when you had the Hutt Slime, Commander,” Rex shot back with a smirk.
“When we get back we’ll all have to sample our least favorite flavors again to get pictures of the amusing faces we make,” said Obi-Wan as he ambled into the front passenger seat of the speeder. Ahsoka and Rex climbed into the back of the speeder, utilizing the crates of ice cream as armrests and leg rests.
“Just how I imagined spending my day off on a nice summer day, choking down some more of that Hutt Slime,” murmured Anakin as he hopped into the driver’s seat and started up the speeder.
“You could always invite Senator Amidala to join us!” Ahsoka suggested. “I bet she’d love it!”
“No way I’m subjecting her to that, Snips.” Anakin shot back as he took off, driving the speeder back to the Jedi Temple. As he drove along, he thought that taking Padme to Dex’s for ice cream wouldn’t be a bad idea for a covert date at some point during the summer. She would like the jogan fruit cookie dough.

RELIEF
ahahaha this was humorous and fluffy and I love it!!!
for the 900 followers prompts (CONGRATS!!!!):
aquila w/ Ahsoka and the 501st?
hi friend! and of course, thank you for asking! ☾ from these prompts
aquila- “don’t tell [insert name here]!” Ahsoka has gotten up to some mischief☾Ahsoka knew that she was screwed. She was so screwed.
And it was only a matter of time until Anakin found out what she had done.
“Um, Commander?” Fives said as he walked over to where Ahsoka was standing.
“You seem more tense than usual sir,” he pointed out and Ahsoka slowly turned around.
And in her hands was what looked like a part for a ship.
Only it was in several pieces.
“Sir?” Fives asked, looking down at her hands, and then up at the fearful expression on her face.
“Fives, you can’t tell Master Skywalker other wise he’s gonna freak out and-” Ahsoka began quickly, her shoulders hunched as she tried to explain herself.
“What are you two up to?” Rex asked as he waved at them and began to walk over from across the hangar.
“Oh brother,” Ahsoka said as she rolled her eyes.
“You could say that again,” Fives muttered and Ahsoka grinned before placing her hands behind her back.
Rex stopped and stared at the two of them, his eyes narrowing for a moment as he looked at Ahsoka, then Fives.
“Something is off here… did you two pull another prank in the barracks?” Rex asked.
“No!” They both responded, a bit too quickly.
Rex narrowed his eyes again.
“Seriously, we didn’t,” Ahsoka confirmed.
“Then… what seems to be the problem?” Rex asked and Ahsoka looked at Fives before slowly bringing her hands out from behind her back.
“Please don’t tell me that’s the new computer chip for the general’s star fighter.”
Ahsoka bit her lip and nodded.
“Is there any way you could fix it, commander? Maybe use the Force or something?” Fives asked.
“That’s not how the Force works!” Ahsoka replied with a bewildered expression on her face.
“What are you three up to over there?” Anakin said from a distance, and they looked at each other before looking back at him.
“Oh shit,” Ahsoka whispered.
“Language!” Rex and Fives said in unison.
Ahsoka rolled her eyes.

A Happy Ending For Everyone (Except Palpatine)
Words: 1416
Ships: Codywan,Grimsoka,Anidala
Characters: Rex, Cody, Ahsoka, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Grim (OC)
Summary: An AU where Grim successfully defeats Sidious and everyone lives in peace
Read on A03
Four days ago everything had changed. Four days ago Chancellor Palpatine was killed after it was revealed that he was the secret Sith Lord. Four days ago The Clone War had ended. Four days ago there was a happy ending. Despite all of this joy, despite the war having ended, Sidious being dead, and a happy ending for all, there was one person who wasn’t happy. She knew she should be, she had succeeded, everyone was going to live now, and yet Grim, that was her name, wasn’t happy, in fact she was completely lost.
Grim currently sat in the room of a thousand fountains, meditating. Grim thought about everything that had happened in the past four days. She had won so why did she feel so lost? Grim guessed it was because she no longer had a purpose, a reason to be around. After all, her whole goal was to defeat Sidious, which she had done with much success. Now what was next? Grim didn’t know. “What’s wrong Grim?” asked Obi-Wan. The younger Jedi opened her eyes, and smiled at her former master. That was another one of the changes that had happened, Grim was knighted after defeating a Sith Lord, though she doubted that she was ready for that change, perhaps Grim wasn’t ready for any of the changes.
“I don’t know what’s next,” Grim replied. “For three years I’ve been fighting to save people, and now that I saved them I have no clue what to do. It’s like I’ve lost my purpose….does that make sense?” she asked.
“I believe it does, you’ve always talked about preventing the future, but you never did talk about what you wanted to do once you had succeeded,” Obi-Wan replied, he sat down beside his former padawan and gave her a gentle smile.
“That’s because I never thought about it,” Grim admitted. “Maybe I could be an archivist? I love learning, oh I could perhaps teach? I love teaching the little ones.”
“Do what makes you happy, Grim. You deserve your own happiness, there is nothing to stop you from doing what you would like.”
It had been ten years since then, and now Grim was a Jedi Master with a padawan of her own. Her padawan was one of the many Jedi she had saved by destroying Sidious, and he loved to boast about it. “My master destroyed a Sith Lord and saved me! What about your master?” he would say to the other padawans. Grim would merely laugh and shake her head.
“Sors, my young padawan, you cannot just go and boast around like that,” Grim would reply. Though a smile on her face would show she was amused.
Sors would look down and apologize, “sorry Master,” he would say, though a grin on his face revealed he wasn’t that sorry.
Today Grim was going to show Sors a nice mediation spot and teach him some meditation when she saw an old friend, “Master Skywalker!” Grim called a grin on her face. “How are you?”
“I am doing well Grim,” replied her fellow Master, several younglings were flocking him like ducklings and Grim couldn’t help but chuckle. Anakin noticed and rolled his eyes, “how have you been?”
“I’ve been well, I was just about to teach Sors some more meditation,” replied Grim. “Have you seen Master Kenobi or Master Tano?”
“Snips is busy, and our old master is doing council stuff,” Anakin replied. “Though I’ll let you know if I see them.”
“Thanks, Skywalker,” said Grim a grin on her face.
After night had fallen Grim tucked her young padawan in for bed and left to meet with her old friends. Tonight was the tenth anniversary of Sidious’s defeat and they had planned to go out to 79’s. “Hey Ash! Obi-Wan! Anakin!” Grim called upon seeing all of them waiting on her.
“Hey Grim,” they called back.
“What took you so long, babe?” Ahsoka asked, kissing her wife on the cheek.
“Had to wait until Sors was asleep,” Grim replied. “Padawans am I right?”
Obi-Wan laughed, “you finally got a taste of your own medicine?” he asked with a chuckle.
Grim rolled her eyes, “oh shut it, master,” she replied with a grin and a chuckle. “Where’s Codes and Rexter? I thought they were gonna meet us here.”
“They’re already inside,” Anakin replied.
“Then let’s go inside as well,” Grim said, and the four Jedi Masters headed inside.
“‘Nani! Dally!” cried Grim upon seeing her old friends. “How’s Tann?” she asked.
“Y’know her, she’s a handful but she’s been good,” Lennani replied.
“That’s good to hear, how have y’all been?”
“We’ve been good, busy but good, how about you, Master Grim,” Lennani asked, playfully empensizing Grim’s title of Master.
Grim rolled her eyes, “I’ve been good, I’ve had my own handful to deal with,” she replied.
“Sors isn’t nearly as bad as you were,” remarked Obi-Wan.
“I take it that’s good luck for me then,” Grim retorted, knowing that her former Master didn’t believe in luck. He rolled his eyes and Grim chuckled.
“Hey guys,” called the familiar voice of a clone, the four Jedi turned to spot Rex and Cody in the crowd. Cody ordered some drinks for the six of them and the two clones sat down with the four Jedi.
“Hey Codes and Rexter, how’ve things been?” Grim asked.
“Things have been good, the shop is doing well,” Cody replied.
“Speaking of, I’ve been meaning to drop by,” Obi-Wan told Cody.
“How about after the drinks we go by?” suggested Grim, already planning a date for the two men.
Anakin grinned, already seeing what Grim was planning. “Yeah why not?”
Cody and Obi-Wan blushed, “oh very well, I don’t see why not,” Kenobi said.
Rex smirked at his brother, he saw where this was heading and was in full support.
Dally came back with the drinks and the group of six all thanked her, as she went off to serve the other customers. “How’ve things been with you and Padmé?” Grim asked Anakin, “and the twins too of course.”
“Never a dull day with them,” Anakin replied. “Padmé’s been busy with senatorial duties as per usual, and helping with Chancellor Organa, and the twins have decided that levitating each other is a fun way to get their father’s attention.”
Grim laughed, “I bet it is.”
“How’s things been with you and Snips?” Anakin asked.
Grim leaned her head on Ahsoka’s shoulder, “well things have been great,” she said, a grin on her mouth.
Anakin raised a brow, “oh? Something happened between you two?” he asked.
“We’re planning on adopting a kid,” Ahsoka told him. “Surprise, Skyguy you’re gonna be an uncle!”
“And you’re gonna be a granddad Obi-Wan!” revealed Grim.
“Oh I am not that old,” Obi-Wan said, placing down his drink, having finished it. “I will merely be an uncle to your child as well.”
Grim laughed and rolled her eyes, “whatever you say gramps.”
Once they had all finished their drinks the group went to Cody’s flower shop. “Whoa,” said Grim. “You grew all these Codes?”
“Yep,” Cody said proudly.
“These are beautiful,” Obi-Wan said, though his eyes met Cody’s when he said that. The two blushed and looked away. The others looked at each other sharing a grin.
Grim bumped Obi-Wan slightly causing the clone and Jedi to stand closer; they blushed even more deeply. Obi-Wan glared at Grim who shrugged her shoulders and went to check out some of the other beautiful blooms.
Rex and Ahsoka chatted in the distance sharing stories, Anakin shopped for flowers to give to his wife, leaving Grim to shop alone and reflect on everything. Ten years ago Grim had changed everything, ten years ago The Clone Wars ended, ten years ago Grim had defeated Darth Sidious, ten years ago Grim had become a Jedi Knight. Five years ago Grim had become a Jedi Master, five years ago Grim had married Ahsoka, five years ago Grim had gotten a padawan. Now every single one of them had gotten a happy ending, Grim glanced over to Obi-Wan and Cody who were holding hands and smiled, now all of them had found their new life.
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, is always how the story began. The story never ended with an entirely happy ending, though now there was a fully happy ending. The only person that the ending wasn’t happy for was Sidious though he was long dead.

Brothers (II)
Hey, finished the second part of my fanfic! Yay... I already hate it. Why do I do this to myself?
Brothers-AU  AO3
Part I , Part III
*~*
Rex stood in the hangar and coordinated the loading of the new supplies. At least, he tried to. Because after Ahsoka joined them, he'd actually given up. She had helped, that was true. But she quickly met Hardcase and threw all of her plans, to continue working, overboard, just like the clone.
The captain saw a movement out of the corner of his eye and took a quick step to the side, laughing Hardcase ran just past him, Ahsoka perched on his shoulders. Rex looked at them, shaking his head, and was about to turn back to work, when he saw the accident happen. Cody stepped out of a door, followed by Waxer and Boil, and all three were knocked down. Hardacse stumbled and he and the padawan landed in the ball of troopers on the floor. "What is this supposed to be?", Skywalker asked, joining his captain. He shook his head, perplexed and tired, how could he keep these people under control? But then, he heard the laughter of everyone who was lying on the floor and actually seemed to enjoy themselves, it made him laugh a little too. Skywalker beside him looked at the whole thing a little longer, a smile tugging at his lips. “Snips, come on! If we get to be late again... “, he let the sentence unfinished and the togruta came quickly. "I'm here!"
Rex watched them go for a moment. The girl was chaotic, had a tendency to overestimate herself and exuded such euphoria, that some of his men became increasingly involved in her jokes. But he had also called her his sister and that didn't feel wrong. She was with the clones almost every day, ate with them and had already left her quarters a few times to sneak into the ones of the troops. When Rex caught her doing it, her answer was simple, that it was too quiet in her quarters and that after all the noise on the battlefields, she just couldn't sleep. She didn't distinguished between herself and the clones. Besides, she was a child. And his brothers deserved someone to make them laugh. "Hey vod!", Cody said and his brother snapped his fingers in front of his nose.
*~*
At first she hated the camps, in which she had to hold on for weeks at some missions. In the jedi temple there had been at least thick walls that created some privacy and a level floor, and no sharp stones or hills that lay exactly under the mat! So it had become a tradition, that Ahsoka meticulously inspected everything when setting up the tents and chose the place with the levelest floor. It didn't matter to her, whether her tent was there or any other one. The floor there was level, so she would sleep there too! She also liked to complain loudly, when there was simply no good place to sleep. Since this grumbling subsided quickly, it was ignored with a smile and sometimes a chuckle.
But there was something else, she had come to love during these phases in the tents. There was no private place to wash and the compact showers in the large wash tent were open and difficult to regulate, but there was hot water. In the temple, she only had the pleasure of lukewarm water for washing, the younglings and padawans were to be taught abstinence and how they should be grateful for the simple things. And she was very grateful for simple things. For example for the collectors, with which the water was heated up and then came almost boiling hot out of the shower. In return, she had willingly given up every bit of privacy.
"Are you serious?", someone grumbled as a group of clones poured into the tent. It was foggy and Ahsoka just held her face in the hot water jet. She heard the men around her and could almost feel the movement of her neighbors, everyone was so crowded. But it didn't bother her... "Turn off the water, otherwise I'll turn off the collector outside!", Jesse threatened and Hardcase laughed uproariously, he was already under a jet of water, cold like always. He said it grounded him. Ahsoka turned and let the water slap on her shoulders, just a few more seconds... "You wouldn't dare to do that, would you?", she grinned at Jesse, who rolled his eyes and turned on his shower, there was still warm water left, but when the sun went down it would be gone quickly. After a few more seconds, Ahsoka turned off the water and grabbed her towel, one of the few belongings she had on missions. While still in the foggy and full tent, she dried herself off and slipped into her clothes before stepping outside and inhaling the cool air. She loved that, just being able to stand clean and warm. Because they were never really warm or clean in the battlefield.
"Really Snips, I will never understand you.", her master muttered, who had probably been waiting for her next to the entrance. “Master, I refuse to wait to shower until all the warm water is used up. And it doesn't bother the men or me. If you would prefer a hot shower, you would definitely also not mind it.", she grinned and stretched. Skywalker smirked and then gestured her to follow him.
Her Master had joined them a little later than usual (his hunt for Grievous was not over yet), as had Rex and a few others. The clone captain was standing in the command tent with his helmet tucked under his arm. He looked a little tired, but relatively satisfied. "Rexter, good to see you.", Ahsoka grinned and lined up next to the clone, who actually had to smile and patted her lower back. "Will I still have the chance of a comfortable shower temperature?", he asked and Ahsoka grinned innocently up at him. "If Jesse doesn't uses it all.", she whispered and he rolled his eyes. "Sure.", he muttered, before drawing his and her attention to the news Skywalker had. Well, news for Ahsoka. She listened to the report of the incident at the rishi base and put her chin on her hand, looking strangely concerned.
"That must be tough, as a first encounter...", she mumbled and Rex laughed next to her. "Since when are first ones easy?" She giggled, then looked up. “If it is okay, they can come into the tent I'm in. There is still plenty of space.", she offered, with the hope that the new men would make friends quickly with her help. At times, the clones could be surprisingly cool when they decided not to take someone in their midst. Even if it was one of theirs. Skywalker smiled. "Is Hardcase in that tent too?", he asked and Ahsoka was confused, but said no. "Then that should work, shouldn't it Rex?", asked her master and the captain agreed. Full of energy, Ahsoka wanted to storm away again, still with her towel over her shoulder, when Rex held her back. "Don't let them act up with you, vod'ika." His smile took on a loving trait and she returned it. "Hey, if I get my way, the complaint will end up on your desk, not mine!", she grinned broadly and was gone.
She found the dominos quickly. “Oh Hevy, let it be! How about a good night's sleep before you mess with everyone here?", one of them asked, slightly annoyed, and Ahsoka immediately understood, why Skyguy and Rex didn't wanted Hevy and Hardcase in a tent. It would end in a fun, but for Kix exhausting, wrestling match. She came closer and quickly tried to grasp all the details that distinguished the men from one another. She could identify Hevy quite quickly, his tattoo wasn’t that hidden. It would make it easy for her. The one next to him also had a small mark of this kind on his face, but she could only identify it when she got closer. "What do you want, half pint?", asked one with a big grin on his face, his eyes sparkled jokingly but not maliciously.
"I'm Ahsoka Tano.", she introduced herself and as if you had flipped a switch in the men, they stood at attention. Did Rex talk about her? “Sorry, sir. Commader Cody had told us about you.”, one of them rattled down, the joker still grinning, but it wasn’t as broad as before. "He just didn't mention that you are so tiny." She puffed her cheeks and was already wondering, if Rex would be mad at her, if one of the shinys ended up at Kix right at the beginning, even if it flattered her that Cody had talked about her. Then two others joined in, de-escalating. "Leave Cutup, he doesn't know when to stop.", said the one with the five on his temple. The two next to him nodded affirmatively. "Yep, just ignore him.", said another and introduced himself as Droidbait. She nodded and let go of her crazy idea, Kix would probably have suffered a nervous breakdown anyway. Hardcase had kept him busy and without Jesse, Kix would have tied and gagged him somewhere. On the way to the tent, she listened to the clones closely, to learn how they talked und acted. The one with the five was actually addressed as Fives and was grinning and having an exchange with the one he called Echo. Ahsoka turned her head briefly and looked at the two, they seemed to be close. Hevy, Cutup and Droidbait were walking behind them and Cutup was wedged in the middle, while the other two teased him. Oh dear, such behavior would drive Jesse mad. The clone had never learned, how to sleep unless everyone was calm and relatively silent.
They entered the tent. “Pick a mat. Except this one! ", she explained and pointed at a sleeping place in the back of the tent. Fives raised an eyebrow and in Echo's eyes she could read the question, even if he didn't ask it. "Why?", Fives asked, grinning. Ahsoka straightened to her full, small, height and crossed her arms. "Because that's the only mat without any pebble under it, and I'll defend it with my life.", she grinned back and Fives laughed. "Okay, understood.", he amused himself, but respected the padawan's claim to ownership and threw himself on a blank mat a few steps away.
*~*
It should turn out, that Fives wouldn't show her such respect often. She liked the new clones, had Hevy and Cutup describe the fight to her in great detail. How Heavy saved them all with his knowledge! When Hardcase heard the story from the new comrade's mouth for the first time, he laughed his ass off, shortly afterwards they were laughing on the floor and it seemed as if Hardcase would have won, until Rex intervened. That was the second, when she was tempted to tease him with his plan until she got him to the point, where she could finally get him to race her across the camp. But Ahsoka dumped the idea again, she liked it when Rex laughed and didn't want to wipe it off his face.
The rest of the evening was quiet and Ahsoka almost clapped her hands in joy, when the food actually looked like something edible! The joy lasted only three seconds, Fives snapping a piece of her meal with astonishing elegance. "Never leave the food open for too long.", Echo muttered with a slight grin and Ahoska spun around to him. "And what manual was that in?", she hissed, before chasing after the fleeing Fives. The loud laughter of the rest of the group behind her.
She also learned, that Echo was the actual leader out of the two. Sure, Fives was level-headed enough to make decisions and loud enough to be heard. But whenever something turned against his brother, Echo came to the fore and took the lead. He put up with criticism better than Fives, who sometimes stood behind his brother a little offset and apologized quietly. Once, Ahsoka had even stumbled upon a fight, a shiny and Echo. She and Rex separated them and it quickly became clear, who had started it. Even if she never thought, that Echo would resort to such means. He was surprisingly composed and calm and she couldn't feel any agitation, even in the force. "You just be done with it like that?", she asked softly, watching Rex send the younger clone away a few meters from them. Echo shrugged and grinned. “Fives didn't hear it and never will! That's what counts."
*~*
She sat there with her mouth open and eyes wide, before jumping hastily from her bunk in her quarters and hurrying to the door. "You made it! And, how does that feel?“, she asked with a broad grin and ran a finger over Echo’s new helmet. Unlike the rest of the armor, they looked no different, but were brand new. Echo smirked and Fives shrugged. "Maybe a little heavier.", he said, fastening his grab on the helmet under his arm and she shook her head. "I didn't mean that, idiot.", she mumbled and now Fives had to laugh, while Echo looked at her openly and she saw something in his eyes, a loss. Who fell on Kamino? "As if he had given it to me.", he said. She never dared to ask, who he was talking about.
*~*
She liked Hevy, he was loud and always ready for a fight. Just like Hardcase, it turned out to be fatal to Kix's nerves having them both train together.
She loved Droidbait, the clone with the little smile was surprisingly good at distracting others from what they were about to do. Instead, they ended up sitting together and playing with some cards, Ahsoka spent almost every quiet evening on the cruiser like that. She lost many desserts to him.
Without Cutup she couldn't imagine to trade barbs with somebody. They could throw many things in each others faces, only to see how desperation grew in the others when they wanted to stop this madness.
Fives was irreplaceable, outwardly he was a bit calmer and more relaxed than his brothers. But if he came around the corner with an idea, it was the best prank Ahsoka had ever seen. They had caught Rex, for the first time ever! He was also a good speaker, more than once she considered going to him before a discussion.
Echo was very much like Fives, they often moved around the camps together. But if Ahsoka ever spent time alone with the reserved clone, a quick-witted and funny comrade would emerge. And his ability to remember everything from the manual was… incredible!
Kix was so important to all of them, even if Ahsoka was sometimes ashamed to rob him of the last nerve. And yet, he received them all again and again with open arms and brotherly rebuke. Sometimes with anger, sometimes.
Jesse was always by her side when she felt a little lonely. He could crack jokes and make bets with her that ended up in her chasing him down the hallways, nagging and laughing. But he was also very careful to stay close to her during battles, without getting in her way. She found it somehow nice, that there was someone who looked after her and did not hold her back, as her master did in her opinion now and then.
Rex was her oldest brother, even if she had never called him that before. Whenever they were just among the clones or when the jedi were not listening, he would quietly call her vod'ika and she loved it. He could just sit next to her for hours and look at the chaos with her, that they had to clean up together. But then, there was also this fire with which he spurred her on in fights and trained with her. Whenever she complained about her bruises, she just got another one from him. He was like a big old rock, unbreakable.
She respected Cody, but kept herself out of the way when he and Rex fought in mando’a, in the end no one could win. It was quite amusing, to see the sly twinkle in his eyes, though.
She adored her master, her Skyguy. Who approached everything with such ease that, despite the death and the devastation around her, she stood beside him with a laugh in front of the droids and enjoyed measuring herself against him. She had worked hard for his trust, and she honored it every time she brought a mission to a successful conclusion on her own.
She needed Master Kenobi, even if she sometimes believed, that Anakin needed him even more. But still it could sometimes not be denied, that his infinite calm and patience did some good for her too.
She admired Padme Amidala for her courage; if she were to choose someone as second master, she might have chosen the Senator. Had they been even closer, Ahsoka might even have seen her as a mother of sorts.
They were all part of her adopted family. Some were closer to her than others, and few did not even know she was thinking that way. And yet they were all there, always.
*~*
She was different since they came back. Rex and Cody had first noticed it, when she immediately ran after her master as he left the jedi temple. The two looked at each other for a long second, they thought the same thing. It was unusual for the girl, to be so clingy. Hardcase noticed, when she turned down his invitation to a small trial of strength. "Who knows, where this would go.", she had said quickly and was gone. Fives noticed it, when they were working on a droid together. She wired it incorrectly and it pinched the clone's hand, before she hastily ripped the cable out again. Fives wasn't entirely untalented himself and was used to work with her on the droids, but nothing like that had ever happened! Echo noticed, when he tried to teach her about the next planet. She was distracted and when he touched her arm, she nealy jumped off the bunk.
Kix was the first, after all, to confirm that something was indeed wrong. General Skywalker had turned up one evening, he justified it by not wanting to burden the jedi with it. Even he knew, that the clones knew Ahsoka very well. He didn't really said what happened, but asked whether a near-death experience might stick for a long time. Kix reported it to Rex, Cody, and Jesse. That same evening, Cutup complained that Ahsoka consistently stayed out of the clone quarters for the first time in a long time. Echo threatened, that he would give the girl another week to tell them what was wrong, Rex silently agreed.
In the end, they didn't had to wait that long. One night the door slid open and Ahsoka carefully shook Kix awake.
"Commander, do you have any idea what time it is?", he scolded in a whisper, but got up anyway and accompanied her out into the hallway. He watched her try to smile. “No, I lost my watch. What time is it?“, she asked and the smile looked innocent, but her eyes looked everywhere, just not at him. He looked at her whole figure, she was drenched in sweat. "Isn't it a little late for training?", he asked seriously, knowing that the jedi were strange sometimes. But Ahsoka had never seemed THAT strange to him. "Actually, I can't sleep and I was wondering, if you might have something for me.", she mumbled now and deliberately lowered her eyes to her feet. Kix hesitated for a moment, forcing Ahsoka to sleep with sedatives was not the best way, to deal with her obvious problem. It would only postpone the nightmares she must have been having. There were better cures for anxiety, than numbing it...Then he remembered one of the plans Hardcase, Hevy, Echo and Fives had made in their desperation and slowly nodded. A much better way, to deal with fear.
"Actually, there is something.", he smiled, grabbed her and dragged her into the quarters. There, he threw her into Fives' bunk, they both knew that the clone would simply grab everything he could get a hold of in his sleep. Trapped, she looked up angrily at Kix, who was very pleased with himself. This way, he would be able to go back to sleep and Ahsoka had no chance to wander the hallways at night. He also hoped, that a little closeness to someone alive and warm would calm her down. Because, if he was honest, this was something the jedi would never do for her. "Good night, commander.", he grinned and layed down again.
The next morning started just before sunrise with a whimpering Ahsoka. Wet and cold she sat up and woke Fives, Jesse and Kix, who had slept worse than he expected the rest of the night. There was a patient nearby, whom he needed to keep an eye on. Panicked, she looked around and took in the sight of the quarter, so warm and calm. When was the last time it was so beautiful? "I'm dead, right?", she mumbled in panic and it alerted the clones that were awake. Fives pulled her into an embrace from behind, she was freezing. Jesse mentally made a note to speak to Rex, and maybe the general, and Kix got up and rummaged in his, always ready, backpack for a sedative. "Not as long, as I can hold a band-aid.", he announced with a gentle smile and let her slide back into a light slumber.
He would learn, in a few hours, that her stomach couldn't take things like that at all. But what happened did not come out of her mouth, ever.
*~*
The day was beautiful, it had started sunny and with a couple of laughing younglings in the hallway. She dodged them grinningly and went to see her brothers, with a monthly ration of chocolate. She had lost, unfortunately. Fives or Echo alone had always lost the bets. But now, the two brothers had teamed up and her betting balance went straight down. The door to the quarters slid open and with a big grin she crept in, the clones were still asleep. It seemed liked it had been a long evening... With ease, like every jedi, she swung onto Kix's bunk. He was sound asleep, one hand clutching his datapad. By the force, this man was almost worse than Rex. However, the captain had developed the ability to live only on caf and dessert, something that Kix couldn't manage. Sighing, she let herself tilt back and dangled over her head in the lower bunk, Jesse. She grinned and stared at him, then started a small countdown in her head.
"Five, four, three ..." Before she reached two, Jesse opened his eyes, saw the girl and grimaced, before he grabbed something nearby and threw it at her. She skilfully dodged and laughed, that woke the others up. "Is that how you greet your chocolate?", laughed Ahsoka and sank to the floor. "Finally!" Fives practically threw himself out of bed on top of her, Hardcase and Cutup followed immediately. Buried beneath them, Ahsoka clutched the chocolate as tightly as she could. "Help?", she asked muffled and someone seemed to have mercy, Echo and Droidbait laughingly grabbed their brothers and pulled them apart.
The day was horrible. She crouched and massaged her temples, Master Plo glanced at her again, as did Wolffe next to him. "Are you okay, little Soka?", the jedi asked calmly and she forced a smile, her legs tingling as she stood up. How long had she been sitting in the hangar? “Yes, Master Plo. I'm just a little... tired.", she explained bluntly and clenched her hands into fists, she felt so endlessly tired and restless at the same time. As if she was waiting for something, she knew wouldn't happen. "I can understand, if the death of Master Piell is hard to deal with for you.", he started and she took a deep breath, that had also happened... God, her head hurted. "Yeah, exactly... I'll lie down a bit.", she mumbled and turned to leave. She heard Wolffe chasing after her. "Is there anything else, commander?", she asked, turning to face him. The clone was finally catching up, and although she could feel an unexpected affection, his face remained as cool as almost always.
"Commander, could I come up with a suggestion for a solution to your problem.", he asked and Ahsoka shrugged her shoulders, then she looked at him directly and something inside of her seemed to let go and her calm facial features slipped away from her. She wanted to cry, scream, and blame someone. Wolffe let the second pass and then he smiled, it was a real smile. “Afterwards, my brothers and I drink so much together that we don't remember how to walk. And the next morning, it's somehow easier to carry on and remember the good things. ” She had to smile, somehow she liked the idea. But Echo deserved better. “Thank you Wolffe, but no. I don't think that will solve my problem.", she mumbled tiredly and left Commander Wolffe and his concerned gaze behind.
At her privat quarters, she quickly closed the door, she didn't wanted to burden the other clones with her melancholy any more. It took exactly one second, before she had already grabbed her pillow and screamed into it. She screamed for a long time, until her voice was hoarse and low. Then she moved on to just sitting in the corner and staring at her feet. There was a knock, she didn't open. She didn't want to see anyone. Her comlink blinked and she accepted the request, it could have been someone important. Even though, it couldn't possibly be important enough to get her to stand up now. She had expected Master Skywalker or Kenobi. Maybe even Rex or Cody too.
"Vod’ika, open the door.", he called to her. Her brother sounded tired and exhausted, even though he hadn't even been there... She switched off her comlink and clawed her hands into the sensitive lekku until it hurt. Why was all of this so hard? It wasn't the first clone she'd lost on the battlefield! There was another knock, more forcefully. This time she could hear the gruff voice in her dark quarters through the door. "Open up now, or we'll do it!", he growled, she did not move an inch. After a few seconds, her door actually opened. Jesse and Kix stood in front of it, of course the medic had access to everything, that was necessary to ensure the health of everyone. Also the codes for the personal quarters. Jesse's face was hardend and slyghtly worried, just like his voice. Kix, on the other hand, seemed to be in agony and was already preparing something while walking. A sedative, Ahsoka assumed. She throw herself violently against her brothers' hands.
"No, stay away with that stuff!", she screamed and Kix paused, he knew exactly how she would react to such things and yet, he wanted to ease her for a few hours as well. She looked at him and suddenly, she was no longer angry, just sad. Everyone around her looked so sad and tired, that she had no right to be angry, right? Tears appeared in her eyes and she hastily wiped them away, only more came. "Where's Fives?", she muttered, the need to see him suddenly became overwhelming and she tried to get up. He had lost his closest brother and she felt bad, for not being with him. “Asleep, Hardcase and Hevy had to hold him down. He'll be okay.", Kix mumbled and suddenly more figures appeared behind Jesse, who turned his head back a little and let the other two clones pass. Hardcase looked so calm and she had never seen Rex so broken before. At that moment, something broke in her, something from which an unexpected seriousness and disenchantment would grow with her getting older. Now, she could no longer hold on and began to tremble, she realized why attachments where forbidden among the jedi. Rex leaned down and pulled her to her feet, Hardcase and Jesse grabbed her arms und hips and held her upright. "Come on, vod'ika.", Rex said and she took the first step.

CC-2224 added CC-3636, CC-5052, CC-1010, CC-6454, CT-7567
CC-1010: what is the meaning of this?
CC-3636: I have no idea
CC-1010: REX WHAT DOES CODY THINK HE IS DOING
CT-7567: why are you not asleep?
CC-1010: coz the chancellor cant be asked to do his own paper work. I have been trying to forge his signature for the 38 hours
CC-3636: you haven’t slept in nearly two days?
CC-1010: your one to talk, your up too
CC-3636: it’s the middle of the day where I am. Whats your excuse Rex?
CT-7567: Fives is refusing to go to the med bay and im currently distracting Jesse from attacking from attacking Hardcase while he’s braiding Tup’s hair
CC-6454: Does anyone find it ironic that Cody made this chat and he hasn’t even been on it yet
CC-6454: also can you all change your names the numbers are hurting my eyes.
CC-1010: you do it. Im busy. Surprise me
CC-36363: what he said
CC-6454: welp. You asked for it
CC-6454 changed CC-1010 to Foxy Foxy
CC-6454 changed CC-3636 to The Ferrell One
CC-6454 changed CT-7567 to T-rex
CC-6454 changed CC-5052 to Bly Bly Butterfly
CC-6454 changed CC-2224 to Kote
Kote changed CC-6454 to Froggo
 Froggo: Hey!
The Ferrell One: that was one time
Foxy Foxy: mmmmm. You took a chunk out of a trainers arm when we were three because you didn’t want to go to sleep. You spent two hours chasing Ponds around our barracks trying to claw his eyes out because he took your “Blankie”. You kicked Cody off of your TOP bunk because he wanted to cuddle after he had a nightmare. You also bit Rex after Cody kidnapped him and you claimed it was because he needed “to be initiated” into our group. There is also that rumour going around that you bite any shiny that looks at you the wrong way.
T-Rex: so that’s what that mark was…
Bly Bly Butterfly: you don’t remember that?
Bly Bly Butterfly: you cried about it for days
Bly Bly Butterfly: you made Wolffe cry too, he was so upset at the fact that he thought he hurt you.
The Ferrell One: IJEIWJIHIWKPWPJDBWI
The Ferrell One: No fair, everyone else cried too. Sad Rex’ika is upsetting to see even now. Im like 90% sure we would ALL cry if we witnessed Rex’ika crying.
Froggo: are we gonna ignore the fact that the only activity Cody has had on this chat was to change my name to insult me?
Kote: yes, yes they are
Froggo: IJSIWDINDKOWJDINEJFF
  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dumbass: does anyone know why the captain is laughing so hard his eyes are leaking?
Dumbass: its really starting to freak me out
Rex’s Favourite: Whatever it is, Fives. Its clearly none of your business otherwise he would have told you.
General Skywalker: that’s true, but I want to know too. It is rather creepy. Ive never seen him laugh so much
Commander Tano: let him be guys. Hes as relaxed as relaxed as hes been in a while
Cog: ooooooooohhhhh
Dumbass: and you would know that how Commander?
SQUIRRLE: rexsoka?
Dumbass: yes, my vod. Rexsoka indeed
General Skywalker: Snips? Whats that?
Commander Tano: I have absolutely no idea
General Skywalker changed Commander Tano to parSNIPS
ParSNIPS changed General Skywalker to Skyguy
Skyguy: @REXtra are you okay over there?
parSNIPS: youre literally sitting across the room from him. Why do you need to message on here.
REXtra: yes, sir. Im okay
Skyguy: you sure. You sound like you’re dying over there
parSNIPS: rex?
ParSNIPS: Rexter, you still alive over there?
Skyguy: we wont be hearing from Rex for a while. Kix had to take him away.
Skyguy: he fell on the floor laughing and couldn’t get up because he was having trouble breathing.
Cog: okay. Now I really want to know what was so funny

Ooh congrats on your milestone!!!! How about: it’s time to go: “sometimes walking out is the one thing that will find you the right thing.” wit maybe Ahsoka? Thanks!!!
thank you!! and you got it--thank you for the prompt!
it’s time to go: “sometimes walking out is the one thing that will find you the right thing.”
Ahsoka threw a stone into the water. She knew how to make them skip—she had plenty of practice doing that, and sometimes, when she wanted to tease the others, she’d let the stones skip for longer than anyone else’s. The men would always claim that Ahsoka was cheating, and Ahsoka guessed she was cheating, but she knew that they didn’t mind, not really.
Ahsoka dropped another stone into the water, watched it sink into the murky depths below. If she could concentrate, she could probably almost tune out the screaming and shouting behind her. The sudden crash of utensils and pots and pans falling to the floor. Rex’s voice above it all, yelling for Wolffe to calm down, things are fine—
Ahsoka heard a broken sob, then the thump of knees hitting the ground. She picked up another stone, dropped it into the water. She could see the stone for a little while—all smooth edges, all round and perfect—before being swallowed up by the darkness. She wondered if it would join all its brothers and sisters that Ahsoka had dropped moments before.
Ahsoka heard footsteps behind her, and she picked up another stone.
“How is he?” she asked, turning the stone over in her hands. This one was a little darker than the others, save for the one grey spot at the center. She held it up, turned it this way and that.
“Calming down,” Rex replied. He sat down next to Ahsoka, rubbing his hands over his face. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize,” Ahsoka said. She set the stone on her lap and looked at Rex. “I…we both knew that it would be difficult.” She rolled the stone around in her hand and, tapping her thumb against it, added, “So…I’ve just been thinking that it might be a good idea for me to leave.”
Rex stared at her. “What are you—”
“You saw him,” Ahsoka said quietly. “I can’t…be around.”
Her throat tightened at that. She glanced backwards into the house. She knew that if she walked inside, she would find broken dishes, broken things, broken hearts.
“It’s just a bad day,” Rex said. “We all have those.”
“They’re not like your bad days,” Ahsoka replied, squeezing the stone. “They’re not like mine, either. We both know that.”
Rex was quiet.
Then, he said, “Yeah. I know.”
“Even on his good days…” Ahsoka squeezed the stone again. It was cold in her hands. “I think I make him nervous even on his good days. Or…scared. Like I might hurt him.”
“You wouldn’t.”
“I know,” Ahsoka replied, and that was the truth. She wouldn’t hurt him, even if…he might have been there when Master Plo was killed.
She looked at Rex. “But he needs to get better,” she said quietly. “And I can’t be around for that. Not right now, at least.”
“Where would you go?” Rex asked after some time. “It’s not safe for a Jedi—”
“But I’m not a Jedi,” Ahsoka said. “Not anymore.”
“Technicalities.”
“No,” Ahsoka replied with a sad smile. “It’s true.”
She turned the stone over in her hands again. Brushed her thumb over the grey spot.
“You know I have to go, right?” Ahsoka said.
“Ahsoka—”
“I know it’s bad timing,” Ahsoka replied. She gave Rex another halfhearted smile. “You just got used to calling me by name, too.”
She reached over for Rex’s hand, and he let her take it. She uncurled his hand, which had turned into a fist—and dropped the stone in his hand. “Just take care of yourself, okay? And take care of him?”
“And you?”
Ahsoka squeezed Rex’s hand. “You know me,” she said.
Rex’s face softened. “Yeah,” he replied. “I know you.”
That was all there was to say for a while.

marjorie: “you’re alive in my head.” Rex + Ashoka?
thanks for the prompt, anon!! / from these prompts
marjorie: “you’re alive in my head.”
Rex had thought he would die first.
He didn’t know too much about Togruta lifespans, of course, but it was just a matter of fact: he was old now, his body maybe three times the age it should be. The commander was young—even for all his teasing, she was young. And one of the fiercest and brightest fighters he had ever seen.
With a hollow voice, Ezra told Rex that she was gone—protecting him, protecting Kanan, who now wore bandages over his eyes.
“She was trying to protect us,” Ezra said, his eyes fixed on the ground. “If I had just listened…”
“Don’t, kid,” Rex said. He set a hand on Ezra’s shoulder. “She wouldn’t want that.”
Ezra looked up at Rex.
Rex tried to smile, but suddenly, all he could think of was how there were too many other occasions like thistoo many occasions when he’d find the commander slouched and dejected, her face twisted in frustration or sorrow or just some bone-deep emptiness that Rex knew.
Back then, he had called her kid too—kid, sometimes little ‘un.
He was supposed to die first.
“Come on,” Rex said, glancing back once to the ship. If he looked hard enough, he wondered if Ahsoka would just materialize. Maybe scramble out of the ship, laugh. Just kidding! Still alive!
But he wasn’t a fool—he knew that wouldn’t happen.
“Come on,” Rex repeated, looking back down at Ezra. “We’ve got work to do.”
Ezra looked up. He looked ready to argue back, but at the last second, he nodded.
They walked back inside, leaving the ship and the sunset behind.

the lakes: “not without you.” Little’un and rexster
thanks for the prompt, anon!!  // prompts closed!
the lakes: “not without you.”
Ahsoka hadn’t expected Rex to find her so quickly, but he had, and he did, which was why they stood at the edge of the landing platform together. Any minute now, Ahsoka would go down to…she didn’t know where. One of the lower levels, at least, where she could maybe get a ship, find something to do, whatever that something might be.
She hadn’t even said anything to Rex—he had just been there, and he didn’t ask any questions. He just looked at her, and Ahsoka had the strange feeling that he already knew.
“Did Anakin tell you?” Ahsoka asked after a while.
“No,” Rex replied.
“Then how…”
“I know when someone’s about to—” Rex stopped himself, and Ahsoka wasn’t sure if she was grateful for that grace or not.
Still, Ahsoka said, “This isn’t deserting.”
“No,” Rex agreed quietly. “I know it’s not.”
Ahsoka bit down on her cheek, looked at Rex. She was glad that he had taken his helmet off, because at least she could see his eyes this time around—she hadn’t been able to see anyone before. When she had been running.
“Then why are you here?” Ahsoka asked. “Trying to talk me out?”
Rex just looked at Ahsoka.
Ahsoka waited.
Rex sighed. “No,” he said. “I’m not, kid.”
Kid—it had been a while since Rex had called her that, she realized. She wasn’t sure when he stopped. Maybe after the Trandoshan incident, maybe after whatever had happened on Umbara, maybe after the Citadel…maybe after just the accumulation of all the missions in which they had both gotten out against the odds.
Ahsoka suddenly felt small. She hadn’t allowed herself to feel small when walking away from Anakin, because she knew that if she did, the whole thing would have been so much harder. But now she felt small, and she was both glad and hurt that Rex had come anyways, and—
When the tears started, Rex was already there.
“It’s okay, kid,” Rex said, patting Ahsoka’s back. The movement was weirdly familiar, despite the fact that Ahsoka thought this was the first time she had ever cried in front of the captain. She dimly realized that he might have had to do this before, and for some reason, that made her cry harder.
“It’s okay,” Rex repeated, and they stayed there.

“Your eyes aren’t focusing. Just close them for ten minutes.” with... rex maybe?
of course! thanks for the prompt, anon! // from these prompts
Even after the droids went down, Ahsoka’s head still rang with blaster and cannon fire. She could still hear the heavy march-march-march of the droids coming in too, even though she knew—she knew—that there was nothing there. These things she would get used to in time.
Things that she wouldn’t get used to—seeing men stagger and limp with bloodied or burned armor.
“Rex?” Ahsoka’s voice was small, even to herself. “Casualties?”
“Some injured, nothing worse than that,” Rex replied. He shifted lightly—and someone else might not have noticed it, but Ahsoka did.
“Rex?” Ahsoka repeated. She looked at him fully: his helmet was still on, and he didn’t look like he was injured anywhere, but…she could hear his uneven breathing, see the lightest tremble in his hands. “Rex—sit down—”
“I’m fine, Commander.”
“You’re not,” Ahsoka said sharply. She looked around wildly for a medic. “If you’re hurt—”
“Not hurt,” Rex replied tightly. “Just a bit…lightheaded.”
Ahsoka knew that something was really wrong then, because Rex never admitted that kind of stuff. She fumbled for her comm, ignoring Rex’s little sound of protest as she said, “Medic? We need a medic right here. Now. And ask General Skywalker when he’s coming with the ship—”
“Commander—”
“And tell him to hurry,” Ahsoka practically growled, waving Rex away. “Because—oh, wait, Rex—”
Her hand shot out to steady Rex. “Hang on,” she said. “Rex? Hang on—”
They lowered themselves to the ground. Ahsoka kicked away a fallen battle droid head and, carefully, quickly, she unfastened Rex’s helmet.
Rex, to Ahsoka’s relief, at least was still conscious, but the usually steady brown eyes were unfocused, staring at Ahsoka one moment and then staring past her in the next. “’mmander…”
“Well, you heard me just now, right?” Ahsoka asked, adjusting herself so that her arm was supporting Rex’s head. “Someone will come over here soon.” She looked up, as though someone might actually come through the haze.
“I’m…fine,” Rex said, starting to sit up.
“No, your eyes are unfocused,” Ahsoka replied, lowering Rex again. “Just—close them for a few minutes, okay? Until someone actually comes.”
“Kid—”
“That’s an order, Captain,” Ahsoka interrupted. “Close your eyes for ten minutes, and then I’ll let you stand up and get back to pretending that you’re okay.”
Rex looked at Ahsoka.
“Got it?” Ahsoka said.
Ahsoka waited one second, two.
Finally, Rex nodded.
“Good.”
