Remember that there is no official deadline, so feel free to join in at any time, or go back and do challenges you've missed.
Challenge #2 In your own space, talk about your fannish origin story. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Whether you've been in fandom for a while or just discovered fandom, we'd love to know how you came to fandom! Was it that one book or a TV show or movie or anime/manga or a band/song that gave you that first spark? Or a character or characters that you wanted more of but the canon material just didn't have enough of them? Or were you introduced to fandom by someone?
You can be as brief or detailed as you like: timeline, narrative, bullet points, etc. :D
Check out the comments for all the awesome participants of the challenge and visit their journals/challenge responses to comment on their posts and cheer them on.
And just as a reminder: this is a low pressure, fun challenge. If you aren't comfortable doing a particular challenge, then don't. We aren't keeping track of who does what.

Introducing the 2024 Fandom Snowflake Challenge!
I'm Turps, and it's my pleasure to welcome everyone to the Snowflake Challenge 2024!
Many of you will have done Snowflake before, if you have, welcome back, it's lovely to see you. If you haven't, again, welcome. It's always fantastic to see new people, and we hope you have fun.
So, what is the Snowflake Challenge? Well, to go back to the very beginning and the inspiration for this challenge, Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance, sang the song 'Every Snowflake's Different Just Like You' and some lyrics from that song are Big fangs. Small chin. There are so many special things about you.
And that's what Snowflake is about. That every snowflake is different, that every person is special in their own unique way, and the challenge is here to embrace those differences and hold them up to the light.
January can be too cold, too dark, too hot, too everything and we want Snowflake to spread a little joy in what can be a bleak time. Each little glimmering snowflake joining together to create a blanket of positivity and happiness as we're reminded of the things that we love.
Fandom can be a wonderful place, and we want people to embrace that, to talk about their passions -- and it has to be noted here, those passions don't have to be narrow and based on TV/film/book/music fandoms; everything counts. If you love weaving with yak hair, tell us. If your thing is creating suspension bridges out of spaghetti, well let us know, don't hide those skills and those loves, we want to know all about them.
From the 1st, we'll be posting challenges every second day throughout January. Some challenges will have been used before, some will be new, but all can be answered in any way that you want and to your own interpretation. There are no wrong answers.
Also, please know that no one is taking note of what challenges you take part in. You can do every one. You can do one or none. You can do a challenge and not link at the comm, that's perfectly fine. But, if you do link at the community, we do encourage other Snowflakes to check out the links, because there is a whole wide world of loves out there waiting to be encountered and read about. You can also respond to the challenge at any time, on the day that it's issued or a year later, it all counts.
The mods who post the challenges are located throughout the world, so while the challenges will be posted on specific dates, due to time zones they will be posted at different times during the day, so don't worry if a challenge is posted at 9am your own time one day and 9pm the next.
Finally, Snowflake Challenge takes part on other platforms too, specifically:
Tumblr: https://snowflakechallenge.tumblr.com/
Pillowfort: https://www.pillowfort.social/community/Snowflake%20Challenge
Mastodon: https://fandom.ink/@SnowflakeChallenge
And if you want to check out past creative responses, we have an A03 collection here: https://archiveofourown.org/collections/fandom_snowflake_challenge/profile
And that's it, all that's left to say is, welcome again, have fun, and we look forward to meeting you all.

you know how last week @snowflakechallenge had us make a list of fandom stuff we'd like to see happen? well yesterday it was "create a fanwork" and
here's my take on "Machine Herald deals with Naph coming down with a cough", untitled little genfic that'll probably need editing later (also if someone else still wants to spin their own take on that prompt please please please please do so?)
Naph interrupts his work to cough into his sleeve. Again.
Everyone down there coughs now and then; it's a fact of life in Zaun. Everyone, even the chembarons who use breathing masks like the pilties they've all but became. The only exception is those who have entirely replaced their respiratory system as a last resort--being the only one to offer such services, the Machine Herald is well-aware of the fact, and there are not many of them. The air is cleaner now than it's been up to a decade ago, thanks to filters more performants, more numerous, better maintained. At least, the air less aggressive than it was, but it's still a far shout from clean. Infections are still common even if thankfully outright Sump Rot and Lung Blight are on the decrease.
Still. With Naph today it's happened already too much in too little time. More than the boy usually does. A persistent cough, coupled with glassy eyes and a slight slowness in his work... Viktor fires up a thermal sensor and checks: and there's a moderate fever. A minor infection then; no need to fret.
As he's suppressed his fear response he does not worry anyway, whatever the situation, only takes in facts and acts on them. But even if he still could worry there would be no cause here and now.
Naph tries to hide the affliction, of course. That's children of Zaun for you. They learn very young, way too young, to hide weakness. When asking for help goes unanswered, you rely on ourself only. Naph is no different. Viktor himself, so long ago, wasn't either. It doesn't mean that they should keep on that way.
Why does Viktor care about this one more than others? He cares about the nebulous concept of "the children of Zaun should live in better conditions". What makes this one different is that he's not afraid of him. Well... back when they first met he was afraid of The Machine Herald but willing to see for himself the rumors' basis and to learn more. And also, to get rid of his fear when it impeded him. Clever boy. That was a good start. Naph came back time and again. He does want to learn. And so... Viktor admits that he got used to his presence. Having no emotions he can't say that he enjoys sharing knowledge and encouraging learning. But it's logical to want to form apt minds to do the good work.
Also, he's built a sense of familiarity out of Naph. Even though he's only one out of many street urchins. Having no emotions, again, he's not afraid he'll die, he would not be upset should he die. Not more upset than at any other failure--every and any preventable death is a failure. So why would this one be worse? ...maybe because of the personal investment he's been making in his education, should it go to waste.
Still. This cough. It's not nothing but it's not dire. And it still needs adressing.
When Naph coughs again, Viktor puts a stop on whatever he was doing. "That's it. No workshop for you today." "What! But..." "I won't have you coughing all over this prototype, spray particules on delicate circuitry and mess up soldering whenever a fit interrupts you."
One could hold up a finger from any hand to emphasize a point and of course The Machine Herald does so with his freakng Hexclaw from extra emphasis. That's final.
Naph does not want to be sent home, that's obvious. Viktor never asked what home was for the boy, if home existed at all, if anyone will take care of him there. Naph is also afraid of being confined to bed, deemed uselss. Neither will happen. Viktor put a stop on the working and even the learning but prefers to keep him close as long as needed.
The bits he was tinkering with are swept away and replaced byt a hot drink--not sweetmilk this time but some nasty tea, heaped with honey that doesn't entirely mask its bitterness. A cold compress os offered--fever is the body's natural response against illness--Viktor is no medical doctor but opines it's better to let it run its course and to suppress it only if too high or gets too uncomfortable. There is no use in feeling crappy if one can help it after all, there's no glory in suffering--after all he offers time and again to anyone wulling to evolve past the possibilities of suffering!
So Naph has to rest even if he doesn't take well the idea of staying idle under his mentor's watchful eye. On different circumstances he would gladly take the oportunity to slack off... if there were no immediate consequences at least. But letting down The Machine Herald by not being up to... whatever expectations he had? There is no expectation on you, at least not today, except for you to get better. And that's out of your hands anyway. Defeated, Naph agrees he won't be able to do anything too hard. Light reading it is then, something that even looks merely recreational--yet Viktor assures him that no no there are history and life lessons in it and swears it is educational. That it's not slacking off.
Naph won't even ask how comes The Machine Herald ever got less-educational reading materials in the first place. After making faces at his tea however he finds the never to ask, "And so, you won't give a copper head for that?" "I won't." He will not give him even wire mesh lungs. At least not yet. Hopefully never. As he did on himself to replace his own failing lungs back in the days. Luckily Naph shouldn't need that. This is only a cold. And sure chest colds can get nasty, but it's not chem lung. (Not yet.) And even if, caught early there are ways to slow the progress down, and when it's progressed too far, to graft replacements. But with more luck, by the time Naph grows up chem lung won't even happen anymore?
"Now, we've had this conversation already and we can have it again when you're better ('cause he will get better--the odds are all in his favour) if you want me to give you copper-plated cranial augments..." Naph snorts, laughs, coughs again and laughs some more and manages to cut Viktor's speech short.

❄️❄️Fandom Snowflake Challenge Day 1 ❄️❄️
Every year, the good folks at @snowflakechallenge encourage fandom folks to introduce themselves a little more and reflect on what fandom is for them. They have a series of challenges throughout the month of January to prompt sharing more about yourself!
1. Update your fandom information. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it.
Hi there! I’m Merc, she/her/hers, 30ish, unreformed tea drinker, time travel enthusiast, and one of those viewers like you PBS is always talking about.
I love period dramas, strong female leads and women’s history. Historical Alternate Universes and Original Female Characters are a big part of my fandom brand and practice. I'm not a historian, I just play one on TV. In my professional life I work at a large museum and I'm happy to talk about museums and career development!
I am on Archive of Our Own as MercuryGray. My older work (2016 and earlier) can be read on ff.net under the same name. I also post shorter works on Tumblr at the tag mercurygraypresents
A full list of my original characters is available here. Please ask me before using my characters in any of your own work.
For the last 4 years I've run the Blind Dates OC Prompt Fest, a chance to write and test new fandom original characters. The fest usually runs in February and you should join us!
Currently I'm reblogging House of the Dragon, Vikings: Valhalla, All Creatures Great and Small, SAS: Rogue Heroes, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Lord of the Rings, and Masters of the Air.
I think that’s about it. The askbox is open. I absolutely read your tags. There’s pop in the fridge. Stay as long as you like.

@snowflakechallenge 3:
Create a wish list of fandom things (podfic, graphics, playlists, canon recs translations, research help, vids, sky's the limit!) that you'd like to receive. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this Snowflake Challenge Dreamwidth post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I'm mostly blanking on things I want that aren't on my fandomtrees wishlist (which has Emelan, Encanto, Miraculous Ladybug, and Yuri on Ice prompts) or holiday_wishes wishlist (though the only fannish bits there that aren't on the fandomtrees list are in the spending-money section).
But! The first chapter of starting right now I'll be strong and all chapters of Jeu des princesses avec les pommes d'or de la discorde, inscribed 'to the fairest', both canon-divergent Yuri on Ice fics, are told entirely through stuff the characters said on the internet. Notably on Instagram. Thing is I do not have either the art skills or the art commission money to illustrate most of those Instagram posts. So if I can't glue the Insta post together using canon screenshots, Wikimedia Commons, and Unsplash, then the Insta post has to stay text-only. (You can see in the second chapter of Jeu des princesses how well that's going. I do have two and a half of the images for the first chapter of starting right now—the first one, the Minami one, and the top half of the one where the bottom half is Yuuri stole Phichit's Pikachu hat—but comparing those two chapters may illustrate why I haven't added those images yet.)
So in addition to what's listed on fandomtrees—and I'm joining the chorus of Snowflake participants who want people to look over all those wishlists, or at least the ones with fewer than two gifts, and fill what you can—I am asking for fanart that's the image part of one or another of the Insta posts in one of those two fics.
And! fandomtrees doesn't do Creator's Choice of Fandom, which is valid, but does mean I had to leave this prompt off that list:
* exploration via historical documents, primary and secondary sources, etc., of canon characters/events and their effects on the local, regional, and global courses of history. this could be set a couple hundred years after canon and thus explore canon from a historian's perspective (social media posts could be both primary and secondary sources here, depending), or it could be set around, during, or before canon and explore characters who have been name-checked at most.
Also, the how to use CSS to make iOS messages look realistic guide by CodenameCarrot and La_Temperanza makes it seem like there should be a way to use background-image in the CSS from the how to use CSS to make vintage-2016 Instagram posts look realistic guide by gadaursan (with instIcon1 instIcon2 instIcon3 instead of instIcon, as well as instIconRight instHeart) so that those five little icons don't display when creator style is off. But so far all I seem to be achieving is making them not display when creator style is on, either. Send help?

Oh, there's an idea! It's a month-long event with posting prompts for every day! And isn't there also a similar one for the summer, if people want to be able to jump on for the first item?
I've also toyed with the idea of setting up a fandom version of "thefridayfive", with five general fandom-ish questions every week. That would give people a reason to keep posting regularly, but leave some extra space in the middle for them to figure out what they want to post on non-Fridays.
(re: i see you reblogging a dreamwidth advert @the-overanalyzer)
as always i’m starry-eyed at the concept of building a new fandom experience, but will you actually USE DREAMWIDTH THO
at this point i think the only way that dw (or pillowfort, for that matter) will start crawling with activity is if like 5+ thousand users (preferably more) all agree to give it their best shot for at least a month, all at the same time rather than staggered out, and if the participation is fannish and collaborative in some way rather than primarily personal-journal based. maybe with like dedicated recruitment, prompts, and metrics to keep everyone hype
otherwise, most people experience the same old story - they show up, nothing is happening, the vast majority of fandom tags are dead, the personal journal posts they come across are written by strangers they’re not emotionally invested in, they go home to tumblr where things are bustling, fun, image-based, and you never know what entertaining new meme is going to smack you across the face next whether you go looking for it or not.
dopamine and serotonin-wise, dw has very little to offer
dw might find new life through organized, concerted effort, but it won’t happen via serendipity

Snowflake Challenge #1
In your own space, update your fandom information! Leave a comment in today’s post at The Fandom Snowflake Challenge on DW saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Transformative Works Policy: Posted on A03.I give blanket permission to podfic, create fanart, or remixes for any of my stories. Most things can be found on my AO3. All I ask is to send me a link when you post and have it link back to my original work. DM me at Tumblr, or comment on the story in question on AO3 is fine.
Current Passion: Learning how to properly meditate. I’ve tried aps and read a couple of books that were too rooted in heavy philosophy/study. I’ve taken a step back and bought - Practical Meditation by Giovanni Dienstmann - it’s simple step-by-step process which I think will help my on-going healing journey.
Where to Find Me: I’m mainly on tumblr these days.
Master List: I just updated this!
Anything Else: I want to re-do my tumblr theme but not today! At least I’m thinking about it!
If you already have a sticky post or full bio on your profile, make sure they’re up to date so that people visiting your journal can learn something about you. Update your interests; make sure your fic posts are current; check that all your links work, etc. If you don’t already have a sticky post introducing yourself and your fandom interests, create one!

So I’m doing the fandom snowflake challenge and I thought I’d post here as well. Because it is an excellent 15 day fanworks challenge.
Day One: In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.
Such A Time As This (aka Jewish Anne Boleyn): (Tudors TV & Megillat Ester): This is the Mizrahi Jewish Anne Boleyn interpretation of the story of Ester or 'Lil has feelings about her heritage and identity' When I read that one of the sermons Anne Boleyn had her chaplain preach just before she was arrested was on the story of Esther my brain went '!!!! Jewish Anne though!' and off I went. I am very very proud I finished and published this story despite my doubts about whether I researched it enough - it's a very personal story really. (accompanying graphic)
Wizardry Most Humble And High: (Historical Farm & Kate & Cecelia): Written as a Yuletide Treat last year and honestly it was SO MUCH FUN. Genuinely just fun (I want to write the 5K epic with footnotes story of the Royal College tbh because it was so much fun to think about). Also contains magical flying sweets.
The Biracial Pundit Id Fic Drabble: (US Pundit RPF): Shameless id fic about being biracial pretty much. I don't even care I love it.

dreamwidth & fandom
what is dreamwidth?
Dreamwidth is a fork of LiveJournal, created in response to strikethrough/boldthrough.
Privacy and experience curation:
The site is separated into personal blogs and communities, allowing users greater control over their experience. You can control privacy levels on a post-by-post basis rather than having to decide at the get-go how private your entire account will be.
Site discovery is done by username, interest, or region. So if you watch a new show and you want to see if anyone else on dreamwidth also likes it, you can search it under ‘interest’ and if its in anyone or any comm’s list of interests on their profile, they’ll turn up in the search results!
Asynchronous
Unlike twitter, discord, and (to a different extent) tumblr, dreamwidth is designed for asynchronous interaction. This is great for people (like me!) who get easily overwhelmed by the constant stream of current social medias.
Tagging
Tagging on dreamwidth is used for organization on individual and community blogs. There are a set number of tags each journal can have, so tags don’t get chatty the way they do on tumblr. Furthermore, tags aren’t used for site wide discovery - they are specific to each blog/community.
Static Posts
There is no reblogging on dreamwidth. Posts remain where they are and conversation happens in nested comments underneath the posts. This allows conversations to remain in context as well as allowing users greater control over their posts.
There is no algorithm
Dreamwidth has no algorithm. Posts appear as they’re made, in chronological order.
But then, how do you find people?
There are a few ways. There’s searching by interest - if you find a community dedicated to what you’re looking for, you’ll find people to talk to about it! Also, there are occasional friending memes specifically designed to help users find each other (@snowflakechallenge has a friending meme at the end of the challenge, for instance)
So why’s it so good for fandom?
Personally, I feel like for all of the above reasons, if I’m being honest.
Dreamwidth allows users a more granular level of control over their experience on the site. Tags are for organization, which makes it easier to find what you’re looking for in a comm or journal (I, for instance, have a “masterpost” tag on my journal, allowing anyone to go look at masterposts for multi-chapter fics that I’ve posted directly to my dreamwidth).
It’s also great for conversation. Because posts are static and comments are threaded, users can have lengthy discussions that remain contextualized. For fandom, this allows for meta discussions, theory positing, and so on and so forth.
Some Downsides
Dreamwidth’s mobile interface isn’t great. Reading posts on a journal isn’t too bad, but profile pages don’t adapt to mobile very well.
It’s pretty quiet right now - which is one of the reasons I’m making this post!

trying to figure out how to get More Ppl to move to dreamwidth from tumblr lowkey feels like attempting to budge a mountain with a backhoe BUT. i’m thinking abt it anyway
from where i’m standing, the “whump community” such as it is (i’m always hesitant to call any group on tumblr a “community”, the website is just not really formatted for that) seems like a viable candidate to get at least Some ppl to move & start cross-posting bc it could def benefit from the more threaded & centralized discussion opportunities that dreamwidth’s layout provides. however it might be tough to convince ppl to move, esp since many of the active users are younger and wouldn’t be as familiar or capable with the interface
i think trying to get people to sign up in december and then blasting reminders to participate in @snowflakechallenge in january would be the most effective way to “jumpstart” a new dreamwidth movement, since the challenge would provide Something Every Day to help new users build the habit of checking & engaging with dreamwidth, and make it feel less like a ghost town until we have the ball rolling and then it’s Not a ghost town anymore
#mine#dreamwidth#on god i am GOING to de-ghost-town that website if i have to do it with my own two hands#i bet the silm fandom would at least Consider it too bc someone who’s willing to read the silmarillion#clearly isn’t going to let a little thing like ‘difficulty’ stop them from doing smth

Fandom Snowflake Challenge #5:Talk About an Idea
(Crossposted from Dreamwidth)
sorry for sporadic @'ing... @snowflakechallenge
I couldn't just talk about one idea asffhgjhjhjh Oof. For starters there is A LOT of fanart I'd like to draw, but I have no drawing skills and keep forgetting to... figure out how to learn? idk, I've worked in words for so long my brain just short-circuits when even thinking about how to art. Perspective? Shading? How do i even get there, never mind past stick figures??? I have, however, kept a lil word doc of very detailed descriptions of fanart I'd like to draw, once I had that brilliant idea several years ago. :D (none of it's smutty yet hkhjkhjkhk let me do basic stuff first) In the same vein-- so many GMV/AMV ideas, so little time. but mainly, knowledge of where to get clips as, um, safely as possible. I have basic editing software that is just fine so that's good and this lil thingie called realdownloader, from realplayer, that i'm praying will still work now that I've invoked its name, to grab youtube game cinematics from. uh... wanna see my dumb AMVs? I have a Youtube.... (2 dumb Furubas that got slammed I have on my google drive~) okay okay okay but here's a few concrete ideas. I'd really like to do a shipweek for KyoxTohruxYuki, and by ship I mean platonic and romantic options bc I still think it's a sailboat. this one's mainly an energy problem, bc when I think of coming up with prompts and getting the word out on multiple platforms and maybe getting someone to do graphics i just wanna crawl under my desk afdfghgfhfghfhf and this and the next one are still waiting in the wings.... fun fact I'm an inveterate one-shot writer (though I did mange a multichap request fic whuuuuut). I want to write multichapters? I just... rarely get plotbunnies that are plotty enough, or I feel I can make plotty enough. would love to figure out how to get better at it-- anyway. 2 multichaps I want to write enentually but again, time and energy. Both Fruits Basket, both Yukyoru.
The first one is based off a manga called Kanako's Life As An Assassin-- unnecessary note here, but in looking for info to write this post I thought i only reblogged it to tumblr and could never find it again, then remembered I linked to the original post in my YTK plotbunny file BECAUSE i'M A FRICKING GENIUS, THANK GOD. ANYWAY!!! Yes, so, Tohru's a novice assassin ala this comic, Yuki's her bodyguard, and she starts to fall for Kyo, her latest target. ....that is literally all i have so far. gotta think up backstories and everything else, and not make Yukyo's past/secret connection handwavy, and they all end up together because DUH (oh flipping NO now i want a Red Notice AU!!! *screeches*) The other potential multichap I have as a magical girl AU. More Madoka than Sailor Moon but idk maybe both idfk. the main plotbunny i have is Tohru rescuing magical boys Yun and Kyon. also, a showdown with Akito wwho still gets redeemed. but. idk if the Yukyoru will be established or developing or anything else about the plot. yet, somehow, I have a playlist that's also a WIP-- beginning and end, and some disparate scenes. so... allll of this is stuff I want to Eventually Do. I think I can, i just... dunno when. or how complicated any of them might be. and oh shoot uh thanks for reading my blatherings! if you do!! I appreciate it very much!!!

Fandom Snowflake Challenge #7

Introduction Post * Meet the Mods Post * Master Post * Challenge #1 * Challenge #2 * Challenge #3 * Challenge #4 * Challenge #5 * Challenge #6
Remember that there is no official deadline, so feel free to join in at any time, or go back and do challenges you've missed.
The world tells us we must be humble, we must take a compliment, but never to compliment ourselves. Never toot our own horn and many other cliches about how to be proper and not overbearingly egotistical. We at FSC say, f&#k that! Tell us of all the ways you are the BEST! All the things you’ve done, want to do or will one day do. All the ways you are marvelously you.
Challenge #7
Promote Yourself, Rec or Sing the Praises* of Yourself! Leave a comment in today’s post at The Fandom Snowflake Challenge on Dreamwidth, saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so. If you want us to reblog your response here at our Tumblr, we’re tracking: #snowflakechallenge2020.
*Formerly, this particular challenge had been called Pimp Yourself, but a fair few of you really did not like that term used a few days ago when we used it to ask for community, fest and challenge recs. I just want you to know that we heard you, we agree and have decided to fandom-thesaurus the term to a more appropriate meaning and leave behind the less savory, real world definition. ♥

(if i answer by reblogging @snowflakechallenge's post only my handfull of followers will see it--i love you guys but--if i make a new post i can have it appear in tags and hopefull reach more people *tents fingers, inhales, exhales* ok let's do this)
@snowflakechallenge, day #3 Create a wish list of fandom things (podfic, graphics, playlists, canon recs translations, research help, vids, sky's the limit!) that you'd like to receive.
i mean, i'm not asking to receive (like nobody knows me in this fandom and nobody owes me anything anyway) but i'm putting together a list of ideas i'd like to see but i'm not able to write myself, free to a good home; if one of them catches your fancy feel free to run with it?
- canon-divergent/fix-it Claggor & Mylo live - trans Viktor, focusing on a packer--we've all seen The Bulge, let's indulge in it - Elora & Viktor interacting as beleaguered assistants to Mel and Heimerdinger - Elora & Sky bonding as beleaguered assistants to Mel and Viktor - Dear Friend Across The River male cover (bonus points for Viktor's accent) - JayVik smut/kink fic using the "colour system"--and having to use the "blue" stop - more variation in hurt-comfort/sickfics - The Machine Herald dealing with Naph coming down with a cough - more takes on The Distinguished Innovators Competition / timeskip Jayce & Viktor Doing Science!! please I can't get enough Science T^T

❄️❄️Fandom Snowflake Challenge Day 2 ❄️❄️
Every year, the good folks at @snowflakechallenge encourage fandom folks to introduce themselves a little more and reflect on what fandom is for them. They have a series of challenges throughout the month of January to prompt sharing more about yourself!
Challenge #2: Set some goals for 2024.
Finish writing The Darkening Sky. The fic turns FOUR in May. It must be finished by then or so help me, God.
Continue to keep up with the friends and neighbors I've acquired while writing TDS. I know this sounds silly, but it takes a village and I think one of the things that scares me the most about finishing the fic is that when it's done, I will lose that village. (There. I said it out loud.)
Successfully lead Blind Dates again! My goal this year is to have 15 authors and I'm pretty confident we can do it! (Last year we had 12 participants.)
Contribute, in some positive way, to the Masters of the Air milieu. This is the first time I get to be on the ground floor of an HBO war fandom and I'm really, really excited about it.
Keep whatever writing I do for MOTA at a manageable length. No more four year projects, please.
-This is pure vanity, but I really want TDS to reach 100 bookmarks and 20,000 views. There. I said it in a public forum. Judge me all you want. This is the first time in fifteen years of doing this that more than five people have liked something I've written and I want to savor it, damn it.

in service of @marchmetamatters 2023 and also @snowflakechallenge 2023 challenges 4 (add something to your fandom's canon; I am adding a timeline) and 8 (polls):
The star stickers in "Mr. Pigeon 72" tallying up the number of times each of the depicted akumas have been seen. I'm assuming the sticker count for Volpina does not include Chameleon, but I'm not sure about some of the others. For instance, Lady Wifi and Gamer have four stickers each. We've seen Lady Wifi in her self-titled episode and in "Felix" and "Gang of Secrets" as one of several people akumatized as a unit, which accounts for three of her stickers. We've seen Gamer in both of his self-titled episodes and in a level of Rise of the Sphinx, which accounts for three of his.
We've also seen Gamer on Heroes' Day, which might account for his fourth sticker, but then again it might be an attack between episodes or in which all that was onscreen was Miraculous Cure as an episode opens. Lady Wifi might also have been in an offscreen attack, or that fourth sticker might be for her appearance in "The Puppeteer" or in "Gamer 2.0", when Alya wasn't akumatized herself but ended up running around as an akuma because someone else's akumasona has power of More Akumas—but at most one of those two instances got counted. Ladybug also knows what happened in "Gamer 2.0"; about Heroes' Day, only Gabriel and Nathalie know why there was a flood of red butterflies instead of a single violet one.
So.
