Reading the webtoon and…
Does this imply that Kim Dokja also tried to write a questionnaire for her to fill in since she wouldn’t speak to him, that either he 1) never gave her in the end (especially if he couldn’t find her after she was released) or 2) gave it to her and she STILL refused to answer?
Because that is so so so so awful. It was already bad but if he tried so many ways to get her to speak and she still gave him no response, regardless of her reasoning… isn’t that still directly choosing to cut herself fully out of his life? Why in the hell did she lie for his sake and allow him to visit her if she wanted to never speak to him again?
I know everyone claims Kim Dokja is just like her in sacrificing himself for loved ones, but at least he tries his best to stay with them and to keep them in his life. He still chooses sacrifice, but it’s not because he intends to never return. He always returns (even if much later than planned).
The only time this differs is with 51%, when he STILL tried his best to stay with them - at least as much as he could.
I sometimes like Lee Sookyung, but I am mostly still SO mad at her for completely ignoring her child since he was 8 years old. Especially when he must have looked like shit any number of times from being mistreated and bullied by family, friends, army, employers.
But maybe that’s just the fragment in me being eternally pissed with her. She DOES love him, but like he says in the webtoon in this chapter - maybe such truths are painful enough to be false anyways, because they’re just SUCH bullshit. That’s not how affection should work, if you actually care about someone and want them to be happy.

once again, not shifting related, but see, i have a lot of things that come along with autism and ADHD, and the like, but i’m still prettyyy damn sure i don’t have em, but also maaaybe, buuut alsooo i don’t knoooow. i have hyperfixations, special interests, the verbal shutdowns, shutdowns in general, meltdowns, also executive dysfunction, neurodivergent stimming (plus some that can pass as neurotypical stimming), and lots more that i can’t remember at the moment, cuz i haven’t eaten enough, OH YEAH AND SENSORY PROCESSING DISORDER, annnd auditory processing disorder, also internalized echolalia and just echolalia, possibly alexithymia, and have trouble with social cues and eye contact. plus food allergies which is also common/comorbid with autism. plus also i was what ya call the gifted kid and now i’m burnt out and even though my grades are always good when i actually hand something in, i constantly procrastinate and have basically given up on school altogether, cuz there’s no possible way for my mental health to be okay, for me to have relationships, for me to do things i like, and do well and be consistent in school all at the same time.
soooo, what am i? i relate to autistics and ADHDers A TON. buuuut i don’t think i am one of y’all. buuut what else can i possibly be? i have no idea. i am a mystery and i pretty sure i always will be.

Oh no, I just came up with another whumpy head-canon in my head for Yuma... XD
It involves his Forte.
He can only use Coalescence with the same person (or in general) a maximum of three times a day. (meaning holding hands and using the ability, then letting go) After that, his body begins to get tired (like fubuki and desuhiko) and the more times he uses it after, his state gets even worse and even begins falling ill.
He slowly starts developing symptoms (such as dizziness and coughing) as time goes by and the rainy setting of Kanai Ward only makes it worse for him.
Starting at a low fever after time #4 around 37.5c or 99.5f
Then a moderate one after time #7 around 38.7c or 101.6f
Then it becomes high and more severe if it gets past time #10 around 39.2c or 102.5f to 40.0c or 104.0f
After every 3 times (past the original 3 times) his body temperature rises and his health deteriorates.
If he’s not careful, it may even land him in the hospital 🏥
It first happens with Halara since they were so stubborn and iffy about holding hands. (Shinigami didn’t know of this limit either)
He eventually has to ask Halara to keep their hands together the rest of the investigation and explains once his body temperature reaches near a certain level. Halara complies with no choice seeing the state he's in.
Because of all the times he lets go and holds their hand again during the investigation, he’s probably more closer to the higher state. They keep their hands conjoined by the time they investigate the third crime scene. Until Halara lets it go on order for him to investigate the window outside the room.
"...you look like a walking corpse master. I think you should stop using Coalescence now and only use it as a last resort. Looks like Hellara's reluctance to touch you caused you to use it way too much."
Naturally the first time this occurs, it ends pretty badly due to them being in the dark about it. By the time the case is solved, he has a temperature of around 39.c.
Then it also happens with Fubuki because of all the time rewinds. (This time he and Shinigami knew the risk better but not the exact number, but they had no choice given the situation they were in.)
"You don't look so good... Are you okay?"
Kurumi notices the paleness of his state and asks him if he’s okay. Of course to not cause any worry, he says he’s fine.
He only holds hands with Fubuki a total of 6/7 times so the state he's in this time is only moderate. But it's still tiring for him. By the time the case is solved, he is exhausted. His temperature is at around 38.c
But with Desuhiko and Vivia he was okay since he only held their hands once.
It is a pretty powerful forte so…
it probably comes at a price, or a limit.
However: Yuma temporarily fully recovers when in a Mystery Labyrinth since they’re in another world, but after returning to reality, he’s in the same state as when he first entered. (maybe even worse) Causing him to usually collapse after the case is solved and they’re (hopefully) out of danger. But only if he over-uses his forte.
(endgame spoilers)
Makoto explains this in the Final Labyrinth.
Only 3 times a day, Coalescence can be used with no penalty. After that, it slowly takes a toll on both their health. Without that limit, it would be too powerful, and all power comes with a price.
Plus, what better way to slow these two determined hardworking boys down? An injury likely wouldn’t stop them, but how about crippling them with fever? That would slow anyone down.
That also may be another reason why Number One remains in the shadows. Although his mind and ability is powerful, maybe his physical state is rather frail. So he rarely comes out and makes sure to be careful using his forte. To keep himself in adequate health. However, after losing his memory he forgot about the limit it has, and puts himself at risk not once but twice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(this would breed for good sickfic fodder :3 Not just the rainy setting of Kanai, but his forte too. (plus games just use high fevers as a side effect for things like this a lot anyway)
god this is just too easy…😂
I know that we’re all waiting and excited for Euron Greyjoy to serve the Eldritch apocalypse in TWOW, but frankly I’m more interested in what Jon and Bran will be up to. Bran is probably spending the majority of the book under the tutelage of Bloodraven (and potentially breaking from it). He’s probably going to unlock, or rather expand, new powers and there could be elements of greenseer magic that we probably haven’t seen yet.
Then we have Jon who, post-resurrection, will have magic crashing into him like a dump track: old god magic, R’hllor magic, and all that other weird stuff he can do. All the powers he’s been suppressing in ADWD will come spilling out and I’d imagine part of TWOW will be Jon trying to adjust to this magic as he’s going through all this rage and resentment (brought on by learning the truth of his parentage and dealing with the betrayal at castle black). I expect TWOW to have Jon in a really dark place and there’s the chance that magic will spill out as he (understandably) lashes out; whether he’s using magic knowingly or unknowingly, who knows. There’s even potential for Jon to get a magic mentor in the form of Melisandre; though it’s unclear how long Mel will hang around at the Wall because she needs to get back to Stannis so that the Shireen-bonfire can happen.
And - this is pure speculation on my part - TWOW seems to be the one book where magic is dialed up to 1000; I’m envisioning magic in this book to be a constantly pulsating element that as some point bursts into a huge explosion. With the Others coming and whatever Euron’s doing (and potentially Dany and her dragons), magic should have a heightened presence which makes me think that Jon and Bran are going to be experiencing some upscaling in terms of raw power. As magic becomes more and more prominent, Jon and Bran will do bigger more impressive things. I really cannot wait to see what they pull off in this book.
