What's The Reward for The Dunce? (18+)

Author Note: The Big Grunts finally have their document and I find something exciting. Maybe it’s because I keep tagging Red Barrels to show them how down bad I am for him help KSAJDLAKJDLKAJK (Also based on data-mined dialogues, he goes by the name of Danny. ) Summary: You kept failing these weeks and Murkoff wasn’t happy with that. One day, an accident happened because of the clumsiness of a new staff, and they wanted you to fix it as a punishment for F-earner Reagent. But would it count as a punishment if pleasure is involved? It’s been those weeks where your performance has been decreasing, to the point your teammates would leave you dead in the trials thanks to the ticking clock and not wanting to risk a failed trial. B-, D, C and even F scores were now familiar to your eyes. Dr. Easterman would pity you, pity that you failed pathetically. Often he would get upset, verbally abusing you yet at the same time saying that he did all of this in the name of Love. You have learned not to take those curses by heart anyway.

You buried your face in your stink cold pillow, with the sleep room music played faintly while other reagents shouted in spirit encouraging their arm wrestler champion to win. Some even have taken betting business from the mini-game, which is probably illegal in the sleep room but the guards didn’t have time for it. They would only intervene if a deadly fight broke up, or a health personnel came for a monthly check-up.

The sleep room wasn’t that hot, it had a mild cool temperature thanks to the fan and the cool mist coming from the pipe above. Each reagent had its room, decorated with colors and knick-knacks they wished. Two sets of chess games had been added, so the reagents would enjoy their time more inside the sleep room. You haven’t played it with anyone tho. All your friends had been released, none ever coming back. Last time you heard that a reagent had their chest exploded in a car, and you sure hope it wasn’t your friend.

Lots of things in your mind, and you let all of them pass by as your eyes get heavy. Yet the second you finally indulged in your usual dreamless sleep, your eyelid wide open as your number being called.

“Reagent Number #7689 ?” A Murkoff guard stood in the center of the first floor, looking around with eyes sharp as eagles in case there was an attempt to escape from the call.

“Hey.” You looked at the back, a woman knocked on your window. “That’s your number, right? They said they need to speak something with you. I think.. it would be better if you hurry up” She politely, indirectly insisted you get out of your bed. She wasn’t wrong for hurrying you up. But what kind of topic they would talk about was what scared you the most.

It was known that failing reagents would be picked and turned into another trial's main object. The man would turned into a snitch or be crucified, while the woman would turned into a judge. None of them had better faith. Being a Snitch meant you would be electrocuted painfully slow to death, being crucified meant you would be stripped naked and died by blood loss as your legs got sawed off. Being a Judge…you might say it was the worst you ever witnessed. If those reagents were too overwhelmed as Coyle kept chasing all of them, you could stay in your seat for minutes, hours even, with your neck being tied around as your lower legs hammered into bone shards waiting for your misery to be ended. It wouldn’t make anything better as they would break your arms with another pair of hammers, and then later it was your head's turn to be smashed into a shapeless meat and brain. You gulped, face grew as pale as snow thanks to your thoughts.

“Good luck out there” The woman whispered, lowkey feeling guilty if it turns out your fate would get worse.

“Thanks.” That was all you said and so you walk towards the guard that has grown impatient.

“There you are, dunce.”

Ouch.

“I deserve that nickname, am I?”

“You should be grateful I didn’t call you a smooth-brained dumbfuck idiotic shithead. Let’s go! “ You followed the guards, looking back at fellow reagents in case this was your last day. The sleep room was quiet as a mouse, no one dared to say anything, not even another whisper. Everyone saw you go, some wonder if they would have to kill you in exchange for their freedom in the trials.

At last, the guard locked the gate once again and both of you were no longer visible from fellow reagents.

“Anyone who wins today’s arm wrestling round will get this sweet one hundred and thousand dollars cash right from me.” The betting business owner showed the amount of money he offered, breaking the silence in the room. Thus, everyone’s focus shifted to the arm-wrestling round and betting on the winner.

You just walked, following the guard while keeping a distance. He didn't put a handcuff on you, knowing well the damned punishment if you do. That if you didn’t die from the guards trying to shoot you.

"God damn new staff couldn't read properly with his eyes. But hey, at least we could see the bright side" He was upset, then chuckled as his laugh echoed through the stiff, greyish-blue hall. " I know damn well you were failing so hard on those trials, at least you didn't end up being Coyle's dead 4th wife in the courthouse you know ?"

"You haven't told me why am i needed."

"Just wait and see."

"I- I need to know my punishment. Easterman told me one day I'd received a penalty for my bad grade. What was it? It doesn't seem that I would turn into...a judge.." You lowered your voice in the last words. Being a judge for the trial would be your worst fate.

The guard shook his head as he opened another gate. "Nah, we're just gonna give you a short challenge thanks to the clumsiness of our new staff. But it would be a good lesson, considering a woman like you sometimes needs a trick to gain what she wants, or perhaps what she needs." The guard whispered into your ears, being a creep. You just frown, there was no use in arguing with this asshole.

Both of you entered the room, dried blood on the floor with a metallic smell reeks into your nose.

“Can I tell you a secret?” The guard raised his brows leaning his head to you closer. You furrowed your eyebrows and pulled your face away from him, but it seemed he was serious about something. “Listen, I know what you think about this place. About those ex-pops. But you’re not the only one in danger here. We also have our risk.”

“Get to the point" Now you're the impatient one.

He sighed, scratching his stubble, and stared at you in seriousness.

“ Out of all the Ex-pops we have, I rather deal with that cop Coyle than the big guy in the next room there. Even Gooseberry is easier to manage. That guy, the first Big Grunt-" he stopped, correcting his words " The first Heavy ex-pop there, a new caregiver made a terrible fatal mistake."

"What happened ?"

"One important rule is that you should never, ever, accidentally touch his inner thigh. Not even an inch, not even a second. Just no."

"What? Yeah- ..Of course, you shouldn't touch someone in that area without permission-"

"You missed the important keyword, miss. 'Accidentally' " He scoffed.

"Wel... you can apologize and not do it again, am I right ?"

The senior caregiver pulled you inside while your jaws dropped, trying to proceed with what the actual fuck is happening.

"He has told you everything you need to know. Make it quick, you're here for an emergency, not a fun time." She shoved you inside the next room. "Take off your clothes."

"Why should I?"

The caregiver groaned and rolled her eyes, then forcefully took off our ESOP instead.

"Just make sure your he doesn't break your night vision. And don't come to me asking for new clothes if he decides to rip the one on your body." She put your ESOP on the table, then opened the door in front of you.

“Don’t waste my time. Get in.”

You obeyed, not like you have a choice anyway. Inside it was a medium-sized bathroom, but tall enough to fit a Big Grunt standing upright. You looked around, a bathtub that hadn’t been cleaned from previously washed mud and blood, pale blue tiles that were starting to get graying, classic cool temperature of a bathroom, nothing extraordinary from an old hospital bathroom. Except someone was sitting on a closed toilet there. Your expression changed, staring at a man who was twice the size of you with his face covered by strands of his hair. He was looking down to the floor, only to get startled as the caregiver locked the door. He looked at the door, then at you. There was a moment of silence, normally you would try to run away but not this time.

There was..something different from him. You knew him, but only because he was deployed to the trials to murder you. Typically you’d see him screaming and yelling while swinging his axe to slash your head open, but what lies in front of you is a man who is kinda scared of a stranger in front of him.

“...who are you ?” You could see his face now. His body was usually covered in blood, mud, and pieces of flesh from his meal. Now, he was clean, just finished being bathed. His hair was still wet, but not as sticky and messy as before.

“I- I believe we have met before. The last time I saw you, you were in Coyle’s courthouse. Remember ?” You awkwardly chuckled, recalling the time he choked you to death.

Atropin did work like magic restarting your heart so you could stand right here, talking to your murderer. This was Murkoff world after all. If you took a killing, in which later you get revived, by heart, that was your fault. Yet again, you didn’t feel traumatized by him at all thanks to those horrors you have witnessed. There was something more to be afraid of.

He slowly shook his head in confusion. “I don’t..remember you.”

You just sighed, not knowing whether this was a good sign or a bad sign. They must have drugged him so badly that it affected his memory.

“Well, that’s alright. We can introduce ourselves so we won’t be strangers anymore.” You lent your hand for a handshake after you told your name.

He was skeptical, really different from how he would act in the trials. He was confused yet took your hands in the end. “...you can call me Danny.”

“That’s a sweet name.” You smiled at him.

“Thank you. I like your name too.” He pulled his mouth for a smile. It was…sweet. Reminded you of an innocent little boy. You were caught off-guard, It had been a long time since you received a compliment. The trials messed up your mind to the point your face almost turned red thanks to his compliment.

You didn’t understand. They described him as some kind of monster. Indeed you saw a fresh blood puddle on the wall next to him, but you wonder why he acted so soft in front of you right now.

“Are you going to hurt me? They said.. you would hurt me if don’t quit my act.”

Bosskur (or Bossku) actually means "my boss" for Malay and It can also be used for calling someone who is a good friend. I use this silly name for him because it used to be nickname we call our former prime minister of Malaysia some years back, it's funny I know. But ANYWAYS! Yes, he's kind of a bossy character. He's actually a demon version of Daud, so I guess we can call him the alternative version of Daud. there's other versions of him (P:Redux, P:Brain Damaged, P:3) but P:3 is his main design, which is this! :-

This is actually his disguise as a human whenever he visits the Earth. There are few little details of the demon features on him from the image above. (his ears, little fangs, sharp fingernails even tho they're not shown in this because it's cropped lol) While THIS is his actual demon form. (Postal Redux version of him), he's taller than his human form. So basically he's the one that caused the mass murder incident by taking control of Daud. (possession)

As I mentioned already, he's inspired by Shark, BUT ALSO by Jai, another character from KL Gangster movie franchise! (Jai from KL Gangster part 1 & 2)

Yes, his pins/nametag has meanings too! (Black hibiscus flower, "LAWAN" black flag pin, Bosskur nametag)

Black hibiscus flower - "no peace" LAWAN black flag pin - "FIGHT", or "WE FIGHT BACK!". Black flag was used to protest on Malaysia's government failure (PN) that happened back in 2021. Bosskur's nametag - "Bosskur" spelled with Arabic letters, or we just call it Jawi/Javanese.

Time for some semi-ritual bitching about one of my favorite bitch-worthy topics, Yugioh

Why couldn't they have just done Memory World properly

Why make us suffer through Doma... and especially KC Grand Prix, a single episode of which is more boring than filler in any other fandom... and they made an entire filler arc out of it! Like Doma has lots of faults but at least it tried to do something interesting. It tried to develop characters, which proooobably shouldn't have been undertaken by a filler arc with no canon script to follow, but gold star for trying! Had a shitty finale not remotely worthy of its awesome beginning, but did we really expect any better? lol. KC Grand Prix tho, no. That's just there to Idk be mean to men with pink hair and dumb names?? In the ridiculous hair dumb names anime???

anyway back to Memory World, maybe the issue was the story in the manga still lagged behind where the anime was. I don't remember. If so I guess there was no choice but filler. Still, did they have to blow the budget on it? They lost most of their good animators during Doma, where they also introduced a couple new crap ones who stuck around till the end of course -___- And no doubt the animators were getting paid peanuts for long hours of work, and if they'd run out of budget to even pay that... well clearly the show should have been shorter. Like two whole filler arcs shorter. Just take a break, take a pause, come back when you're ready to do Memory World the way it should be done. Back then no one took breaks, "The fans will forget us," nowadays TV shows just up and away for multiple years at a time x'D before returning suddenly with a new season.

The reason I'm still salty and plan to be salty to my grave is just this. Memory World is the one and only YGO arc since season zero that was not explicitly about card games. They'd been dropping hints since the first that we could expect ancient Egypytian shenanigans in the finale. We were supposed to find out about Atem's lost memories and recover his name. That was the driving force behind everything that wasn't filler. I specifically became a fan as a kid because I enjoyed reading about Ancient Egypt and thought the idea of a millennia-old feud between a pharaoh and whoever Bakura really was sounded neat. So I watched hours and hours and hours of card games all for the sake of making it to Ancient Egypt.

(don't get me wrong I enjoyed the card games lol. Never ask a YGO fan to explain how watching characters stand around and yell "Pot of Greed allows me to draw two cards from my deck!" for hundreds of episodes somehow stayed fresh and interesting)

So we reach Memory World at loooooooong last and. And the animation is the worst. Atem falls off a cliff it's just like "ow." Bakura isn't have as intriguing anymore now that he's a poorly drawn anime guy with scars. He arrives toting Atem's father's mummy it should be scary. It should be shocking. But instead, for some reason we watched dancing girls of questionable historical accuracy repeat the same frame several times, while Atem makes a face like a baby trying his hardest to go number two in his diaper. In the manga this scene is really funny, with Siamun being Sugoroku in every way, and Atem in his awkwardness being more Yugi-like than we've ever seen him. In the anime they are just going through the motions. There's no life in anything.

The one thing the anime version got right was understanding that this was the one and only opportunity we'd have to learn about Atem. You know, half of the main character for the whole show. Even the manga is really so busy doing plot stuff it kind of forgets to make us care about the ancient Egyptian cast. The anime took advantage of the need for pacing to give us a couple low key moments about Atem & Friends, but for some reason it decided we should 1) know what Atem looked like falling flat on his nose as a toddler, and 2) show us that from a young age he was making grand progressive speeches about equality. Seeing Atem portrayed as a nice guy who cared about people gave me mixed emotions after watching him struggle for seasons with the possibility that he might have been a bad king and not remember it. Because we got a whole season of him making mistakes and disappointing fans in Doma, and now in Memory World the final answer to what kind of person Atem was is just "well he's a good guy in the modern sense of the word lol" and then we move on. Also, neither that speech, nor Doma, are manga canon, but fans on the whole remember Doma much better than they remember nice guy baby Atem. Which is so very nice -.-;

So Memory World could have been so much fun, exciting, adventurous in a way you can't always be when you have to stay put on a holo-duel stage (card games on motorcycles hasn't been invented yet!), and insightful about a character who has been the central point of everything yet whom we knew next to nothing about. Instead it was a poorly animated clusterfuck of battle scenes that were difficult to make sense of. The Bakura stuff was the best. The Kaiba-insert filler was the worst. I was disappointed with Set's arc in the manga as well, another thing that had been built up for years and years and ended up more about the mysterious waif-like dragon girl than Set vs Atem. If the anime changed something to add in Kaiba, I wish they'd have rewritten the Set vs Atem duel so it was mildly interesting, and Idk maybe Kaiba could have teamed up with Atem against his past self, which would have aggravated him to no end? Instead of just wandering around insisting none of this could really be happening. Or he should just not have been there at all. Personally I go the DSOD route and pretend Kaiba was never in Memory World, same as the manga. It's not like erasing him from the anime version has any impact on events bahahaha. He was included for MONEY MONEY MONEY popular character NEEDS to stick around even if he has abso-fucking-lutely nothing to do because MONEY MONEY MONEY

I love DSOD to pieces. But my own dream for the anniversary project was a remake of Memory World. Even if it had been a 90 min movie version instead of several episodes, as long as it was better quality, and invested in Atem as a character instead of simply as a pawn in a game, I would have enjoyed those 90 mins better than the entire Memory World season. Doma and KC Grand Prix were a mistake if they played a role in how awful Memory World was.

But they did the Millennium Duel well. Not astonishing, but really, except for useless Kaiba being there, it was more than adequate. (And although Kaiba himsefl was useless, it was cool seeing him rejected as an opponent for Atem in favor of Yugi. Actually I kinda wish they'd made a bigger deal out of that...) Kid me cried buckets (actually I must have been well into my teens by then bahahaha. I def cried though). Thanks to those final two episodes, the series send-off didn't leave me with a bad taste in my mouth. If it had ended with Memory World it would have been an even bigger disappointment to me than the finale of Bleach. And I despise the finale of Bleach x'D

so i just finished watching between us and kinnporsche, and was kinda corious about news and what the actors are gonna do next. like i was really sad that between us is over, but then i saw some people say, that there is gonna be a special ep in march, about them getting married...do you know if thats true? Also i heard that bounprem is gonna have a new bl together (is there out what its about,and when its going to happen?) and that they are gonna be in different (movies/shows) like prem something thriller like and idk about bouns tho.(do you know?).im really curious about this, and im exited for them!

And i thought for sure that kinnporsche is gonna have a season 2. Like its such a popular show, and the show kinda ended on a cliffhanger, so i thought for sure there is gonna be a annoucent about it. but the show aired 6 months ago, and there are still no news :( i just heard about the actors having new bls together. (Im not totally familar with the names yet) . like the actors from every main couple is gonna have a series together. vegaspete, kinnporsche, and kimchay (where im corious about, how this will look, since im not sure if they are going to have much romantic scenes, like a kiss scene, because of the age, they didnt have on in kinnporsche) like is there out, about what this shows are about? and when they will come out? Hello Anon! Thanks for dropping by! I do have answers for you but it might not be the answers you want. I'll put a "keep reading" because this will be a long post.

As far as the Between Us Special Ep goes, it hasn't been officially announced by Studio Wabi Sabi if there is going to be one or not. The reason everyone is anticipating a special wedding ep is because there is evidence of an upcoming wedding in the final ep and also a few of the actors had posted similar content on their social media. We're assuming March 2nd because that is the date we saw for their actual wedding.

There hasn't been any announcement for a s2 of Between Us either, though it is totally possible considering the source material is still ongoing and there is already some chapters written about after Win graduates. I'd say keep hope alive but I don't know if that is actually going to happen or not. It took us a very, very long time to get Between Us.

As of right now, there has not been any announcements on any new BounPrem (the actors who play WinTeam) series. Boun (the actor who plays Win) is going to be in a zombie series though. Hopefully Studio Wabi Sabi will post a 2023 project video so we can know what to expect this year. There are some Between Us Special Episodes on YouTube from last summer. There's 6 eps, they're really short but oh so cute and features them as an already established couples.

BounPrem do have a few other series they've been in together and if you'd like I can make a list or give you some recs! Just let me know. The actors the played DeanPharm (OhmFluke) also have a few series out together as well. The actor that plays Manaow (Sammy Coates) has an extensive credit list too.

As far as the KinnPorsche cast, a lot of things have happened since the main couples' new projects were announced. I'm not going to get too heavy into it but I will give you a short update.

First the KP cast is still doing their KinnPorsche World Tour and I don't know how long that will go on for, I think their next stop is Hong Kong.

JeffBarcode, the actors that played KimChay will be getting a Korean based series called WuJu Bakery. Jeff's character will be some sort of alien and Barcode will be a bakery owner but that's really all the information that was given though there is a very tiny trailer.

MileApo, the actors that played KinnPorsche, are going to be in a movie together and it will be call Man Suang. We did get a trailer for that a few months back. It's gonna be a period piece so expect lots of pretty costumes. Tong who played Tankhun and Bas who played Arm will be in it too.

BibleBuild (VegasPete) WERE supposed to be in a series together called 4 Minutes. Idk what the actual plot of the series was supposed to be but I know it's supposed to be written by a famous writer. I don't know if the series will still be happening because Build is no longer working for Be On Cloud because he was accused of some really messed up stuff by one of the KP writers. (I won't get into this one because I am NOT part of the majority that believes Build is innocent)

If it is still going to be happening then they will either recast Build or wait for the verdict on his pending case. Idk how long BOC willing to wait because Build no longer works for them and I hope they don't make Bible wait for this mess to end because it's not his fault.

As far as a s2 for KinnPorsche....I doubt we're getting one. The writers for the novel were really disgusting to actors....like really, really disgusting to the actors...so they have been fired from Be On Cloud. Also they were going to ruin everyone's characters in their new novel anyway. It was just awful and I'm glad they got booted because the just did some horrendous stuff to the actors.

And now that one of them has accused Build, they will both be going to court. I think at this point, if we would be expecting a KinnPorsche s2 it would be written by all new writers and would either not feature Pete OR they would recast him. I personally think with all this mess that we don't need a s2 and to just let it be. Things have been ruined Behind the Scenes.

I'd be happy to suggest a few other series that have been circulating or if there is a certain type of plot you're looking for in a series or character dynamics. It really just depends on how interested you are in the world of BLs or if you're just interested in the casts for Between Us and KinnPorsche. LET ME KNOW! AND I HOPE THIS HELPS!

well, that was alright. wasn't expecting much of anything from this. from the preview art they showed before I thought it looked similar to shadow eliminators but after seeing the monster designs on the first few pages and the premise, it turns out it's more like a modern/scientific jigoraku. the art's pretty good tho, the artist worked as an assistant in MHA and you can really tell in a buncha places. I think the series is way too gory for wsj tho, it shoulda been in a different mag like jigo or csm instead of the main one. anyway not really much more to say about this chap 1, I much prefer fantasy stuff, so this just feels like a worse take on jigo which I loved a lot. I'll keep an open mind to see where this goes, cause with this plant "stand" it could be pretty fantastical with just a coat of scifi on top, but I don't expect it to survive on the magazine for too long

Jiangshi X Ch34 (Finale)

having trouble thinking of what to even say about it really. it was as average as it gets. everything from the art to the story to the characters was just, alright, nothing more nothing less. it's nothing you have never seen before and it's nothing you'll never see again. it went with the chinese mythology for the monsters and powers and stuff to differentiate it from other exorcist series, which made it harder to follow cause of the names, but that's a me problem so not holding it against it for the most part. if you ever thought of checking it out then don't, you won't miss anything and you'd be better off spending your time doing something else

okkotsu and yuji jumping sukuna has been going a lot better than I had expected at the start, and been really cool to boot, looking forward to seeing it animated. but I sure as hell didn't expect the queen to show up, I know they just mentioned her last, or a couple chaps ago but it's still surprising. she's my favourite so really looking forward to seeing her clap his cheeks 🙏 (please don't die)

Year Summary #3

We're going with games today so without further ado!

The ones I've started and finished: 1. Pokemon Moon - Second/third time that I played it. I had started a save a long time ago, but I borrowed my 2DS to a dear friend of mine, so I just started everything from beginning. I enjoyed it as much as the first time actually, getting different Pokemon this time - or kind of? This is also where I discovered that tiny Pancham looks like Paul McCartney. Don't ask me from where I took it, but yeah. I named my Pancham Paul XD

2. Final Fantasy IX - I figured out that there has to be at least one Final Fantasy game during the year and this time it happened to be this one. Again, a replay, third fucking save. I had a new pc at that time, had to install Moguri again but you know. The worst was the fact that the old saves were gone, along with the one where I almost did everything in the time before the final boss. My first, almost complete save was gone, I was sad about that. That didn't discourage me tho, I played the game again, only to regret that I didn't use other names than default - it would be so fun, I have to do it next time. Anyway, I still love this game, I will gladly come back to it at any day really - crying at the end again, God, the credits song ;A;

3. Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc - I think this platformer will come back to the list of "play at least once a year". I love this games to bits, first platformer, my entire childhood and beginning of being a nerd is stored there - and again, Polish dub in this game is *chef's kiss*

4. Rayman Legends - replay after a few years and as much as I love the musical levels, the game itself is fun to certain point, I think halfway through, it gets kind of repetitive - or it might be me who played this game way too much in the past. Either way, I'm not coming back to it anytime soon. Had fun nevertheless tho <3

5. Murder by Numbers - got Epic Games Store, got my hands on free games and there I went, choosing this one as the first one. It has repetitive mechanic over finding clues - it's a detective kind of game, similar to Ace Attorney, but much more tame - but like, if you're bored you can cheat through them just to get on with the plot. I did that at the very end and really, I enjoyed the plot, characters, music. The tiny computer who helped the main heroine was adorable <3

6. Earthbound - you thought I will forget to play it? HAH, jokes on you! The end of year is nearing and my mind is already set on to play it again! I will never grow bored of this game and this time the team consisted of Ringo, me, John and Paul, Beatles themed team and truth be told, I WAS SO FUCKING UNLUCKY ON THIS SAVE. Like, I even did simplest mistakes, forgetting about the freaking shields which got me an instant kill. Had to repeat the last cave three fucking times, I never had such a bad playthrough in my life! Ringo borrowed his luck this time it seems

7. Spyro the Dragon - what did I do when I got a new PC? Downloaded PSX emulator and played Spyro. I'm a whole mood as my friend described me and honestly I don't regret this decision, even if I had to take this game in parts. The camera made me sick to my stomach - oh God I hope it'll be better in later parts and in the remaster - but like taking one level per day was a good idea to solve the problem. Plus the soundtrack - Copeland my beloved! - is just so good. One of those games which soundtracks I'll be listening to when I have time. ...Which reminds me that I have to make cleaning on yt with the games' music. MAJOR CLEANING *looking at my young self* You did fucked it up

8. Deponia - Oh yes, I came back to his fuckery and now I'm having a break before tackling the second game which I don't like very much, but about this one! The beginning is kinda long, but once out of town the game shows what it is capable of with puzzle solving, plot, humor, characters. I still love it and will probably nerd the third part like I usually do, because it's my favorite, but this time I did one major change. I've played with English dub, not like always with German and fuck, it is better somehow so I'm sticking to that <3

Now to the ones I've dropped: 1. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Being younger I loved this game, but this time I just couldn't get into it anymore. Might be because my smart ass thought about erasing the save I didn't finish years ago and starting a new one, but who might know. I do regret I didn't finish the game for some weird reason those years ago, but maybe it was for the better? Either way, I sold it with a few other Nintendo Wii games, leaving only two Kirby games for myself so yeah

2. Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time - now I really had high expectations for this one. I always heard good opinions about it and so I started it, curious, only to discover that I'm bored of it in the long run. There's not much variety in the battle mechanics. You either do that or this and push buttons. There's no excitement like it is in Final Fantasy for example, it's simpler, much much simpler and the same goes too...

3. Super Mario RPG - while having an amazing soundtrack, this game suffers the same thing as the previous. Repetitive battle mechanics and like this is probably the worst thing you can do to rpg. I know a lot of people love it and I can see why. The plot is great, dialogues, characters and world building is amazing, but for me if the battle mechanics ain't anything good, then I'm gonna drop the game and move on

4. Kirby Mass Attack - I always wanted to play this game. It was actually the first ROM I've downloaded on Nintendo DS emulator right after getting new PC and I had fun in the first world. I love the mechanics with the touch screen, the fact that there's 10 tiny Kirbys running around, but what threw me off guard is the fact that even if you have 10 Kirbys, you're gonna end with one at the beginning of the next world. I felt like all the progress was lost and I had to start from the very beginning. It somehow didn't feel fair you know. This was a big let down

And the ones I'm playing now: 1. Cave Story - first time after hearing what a good game it is, and I finally agree with an opinion! It's smooth, like the older games, the graphics are cute, music is amazing, plot simple, but engaging somehow. And true, some part for a new player are difficult - I'm playing on easy, I don't think of myself as of a great gamer and I still find it difficult. One boss was really unreadable for me, the one who was driving, I don't know the name of it, but like I had to have a few tries to figure out what to do and that is the only complaint I have about this game. Second would be no checkpoints between bosses at the very end, but like there was a chance for me to get a life refill, but like I didn't know about it, so I screwed myself on my own wish. Plus, I'm having a break from it because I'm stuck at final bosses. In the meantime I jumped to this one:

2. Yooka Laylee - which I bought on sale on steam and honestly, I don't remember when I had such a great time with a 3D platformer since Rayman 3. I know a lot of people are saying that it's not the same as Banjo-Kazooie - which I didn't play YET - but like, is it really worthy to compare instead of having fun with a game? I mean, the plot is simple, characters are fun, mechanics are great, the moveset is good, it's not limiting the player at all, the freaking soundtrack is a whole orchestra really, always giving the vibe of the world in a great way. There are a few bugs here and there, but they are not game breaking or anything. I was only throw off my guard when I learned that I need 100 pagies to get to the end. Guess what I am doing as of lately XD

yeah so hi i deliberately stayed up until 7am on a work night in order to watch this and do not regret a thing.

-> splat3 dlc looks cool!! will i play it? no. does it look cool as hell? yeah!!! I personally don't like splat3's actual single player campaign so unless im able to access the dlc without finishing the main campaign then... im not playing it lmao. it looks cool as fuck though!! i like whatever the hell they had going on with the glitchy taz hunger looking goop that produced skeleton fish. pearl + marina lore is also a win in my book -> i dont actually have all that many thoughts about the smrpg showcase but MAN it looks cool as hell. at first i didnt like the revamped graphics but now theyre growing on me.... plus the trio attacks??? HELL YEA! i hope the remake will make me actually finish the game this time around instead of start it twice in the past three years and then quit within the first few areas (<- i say as if this isnt a normal problem i have regardless. thanks, its the adhd)

-> SaGa Emerald Beyond actually looks interesting?? like I know nothing about that game series but the character designs look very cool and i like the concept of a multiple outcome story based entirely on which character you play. do i think i'd actually play this game? no, probably not. looks cool tho

-> despite me being The pokemon nerd i have nothing to say about the new detective pikachu game. i dont like the voice they gave pikachu imo. i think thats just cause im spoiled on movie detective pikachu being ryan reynolds... i joke i kid. kinda. also i never like. actually played any detective pikachu games so i got nothing

I was laying there in bed at 7:40am and was like. oh cool one last thing before its over. its probably gonna be just another title release of something or a sneak peek on some dlc.

-> yeah anyway so i screamed "WHAT!?" at the (metaphorical) top of my lungs (because it was 7:40am and people were sleeping). ttyd getting a remaster is so so cool. and now that i know its possibly getting a re translation that makes me even more happy. give us trans vivian....... i also just think its very funny that ive been playing ttyd on twitch for the past. year now? (ive taken a shit ton of breaks) and theyre making a remaster?? now? not complaining im having a blast playing it with my cohost but HHADGHGAKDFJ

-> i'm mostly just excited for the remaster cause it'll hopefully bring traction back to the paper mario series. idk about like the general consensus of the fandom but like. the paper mario series has been needing a pick me up for a HOT MINUTE.

the setup for mrawdrs is that the four main characters all work at the same company (named MRaWDR: Magical Runoff and Waste Disposal Regulations, because the founder is about as original with naming things as i am LMAO) working as a field service team, the same way a crime scene cleanup or hazmat crew would work, but way more magical

first is addie dunbar, the security/medic (still working on her certification on that last one tho)

shes a unicorn, a trans lesbian, and has NO INTERESTING BACKSTORY AT ALL HAHA WHY WOULD YOU EVEN ASSUME THAT... here have some random facts so you stop thinking about it

her favorite author is jane austen, shes a huge classic lit nerd and listens to audiobooks constantly

her sharp teefies are veneers that were an absolute goddamn NIGHTMARE to get put in, because unicorn magic is healing-based and they just kept fucking popping off

shes actually SUPER fucking powerful as far as unicorns go, but being able to refine and direct her magic in a useful way is Very Very Dangerous to do on her own, and theres no unicorns around to help guide her

a human engineering magic specialist, ball of anxiety, and Ultimate Nice Guy (genuine), they maintain and reconfigure all the equipment that the team uses on all of their jobs

yes thats their real last name. they fucked up the application for name change and never corrected it because they were too socially anxious

theyre a DDR master and will hog the machine at their local arcade for 12+ hours if you let them

theyre also a huuuuuuuge anime/manga/video game enthusiast. were it not for my infinite mercy as their god, they would be addicted to genshin impact

theyre actually the only native resident of the city that everyone lives in, called The Island of Steve (the name changes pretty often lol), everyone else moved from different states or countries

they grew up in the foster system, and were bullied so heavily by their foster siblings for being autistic and having a severe stutter/other speech impediments that they became mute. when they were younger it was by choice, but now as an adult their vocal cords have completely atrophied and theres no chance of recovering their ability to speak

BUT. sign is taught as a second language in all schools by law, so its a little easier on them to adapt

as such, they dont have a voice claim, but the song i most associate with their character is Worlds Smallest Violin by AJR. sometimes i think about paying someone to translate it into asl so i can make an accurate animatic of them "singing" it

i have an au that i write with my bestie where some of the characters in mrawdrs work at a strip club, and toufor comes in to do nothing but eat chicken wings for the entire night and then tip $500 to every dancer. they all love him dearly and this vibe extends into the core canon storyline

ROYAL NIRVANA —final thoughts

Watched the entire show in about 3 days.

No drama has made me weep this hard. I have watched nirvana in fire and it still didn’t make me ache as much as this one did. The production quality, the politics, the cast and the costuming is great.

Tbh I wasn’t really that invested on the main pairing all that much, it was mostly due to my personal preference as romance in drama is not my cup of tea but even then, the relationship just seemed so forced? The actors are amazing and Luo Jin clearly did a fantastic job as the main lead and same goes for Ms Li Yitong as dear Abao, but I couldn’t help but feel it being dragged.

The biggest complaint relating to the two characters, maybe the show itself, is the whole hidden identity plotline that they tried so hard to make work but flopped. Atleast for a good chunk of the show the writers desperately wanted us to keep us impatient for the revelation, but each new episode came, more reasons came to dislike the otp. The suffering the girl goes through is first. Also , there is happy music playing because ml and fl are back together so suddenly when just a moment ago the ml had punished the fl by flocking her(though he is not aware of her true identity yet)

Also allow me to mourn the missed opportunities! Instead of not dumbing her down and letting the cp know beforehand so they can be awesome partner in crimes, they instead opt to turn her into a fool and the root of all trouble. I mean for the love of GOD just let him know, he fell into like 20 traps and caught trust issues because you can’t tell him your name and make it easier for all of us. At first I could understand why she hid her identity cuz i mean she is the daughter of a convicted man who was executed, but as the episodes went by I found myself begging the gods to end it all. Not to mention the abuse was just so unnecessary??? Like the very foundation of this show relies on the cp and how kind he is and how everything done against him is justified, but then he turns around and shows us that to people lower than him, he is capable of just as much cruelty as his father.

Which oh boy….his FATHER of whom i will talk about in another post but yes, back to the ml and fl.

Given the time period tho I understood. The drama itself is trying to depict the more harsher and real side of politics and given heavy inspiration from patriarchal Song Dynasty, I am not suprised and didn’t really necessarily turn me off from the ML. And I wouldn’t even mention this here if it weren’t for the fact that the scene when he found out about ml being Mr Lu’s daughter fell FLAT. Acting wasn’t the problem but the writing. It lasted for like 2 minutes? Torturing that lasted for what i understand , months, and 2 minutes of reconciliation. Maybe I remember it wrong but it was just so, it was not up to the mark.

Other than this, i had no issues with the romance plot, tho I wasn’t the most attentive student anyway. As far as I am concerned i was here for politics and OH BOY did they d e l i v e r

Alot…actually, quenched my thirst AND gave me hyponatremia. There were times when i could not catch up, and I don’t even remember the draggy small plots around ep30-43 ish? the translation work also isn’t the best, but beggars can’t be choosy.

The drama gets draggy around the middle but then shoots off near the end again.

I've been obsessed with the idea of this show since I watched the freaking mock trailer like sooo long years ago (late 2021? early 2022? like 2 years ago bruh) and was so glad that people seemed to really like the actual show when it released, can't believe I'm finally watching it. I attempted to watch this once before but it was while I was taking a break at university and uh this is not a show I can watch in public, so I had to stop just a few minutes in and now I'm back like a year later.

The Alex & Jean is honestly A Lot for me and idk if they can handle it well and I'm not looking forward to Joe-Army and Mollie-Nim's conflicts either. I kinda wanna just knock out the last 2 episodes by tonight though because I just wanna be doneee

I guess he's gonna go back in time and do things differently. I'm just glad that in this scenario with how things have played out, in this timeline how original Alex lived, Jean can't forgive him or get together with him. So I'm partially getting what I wanted.

Also interesting parallel with Alex's father who Alex is now refusing to give a second chance, to come into his life, because he fucked up big time as well and there's just no coming back from that to suddenly be a good dad or being involved with Alex's life.

Also, people in the YT comments or on reddit who are acting like "ohhh Alex didn't know, he can't be held accountable for that night/for not knowing about the pregnancy, Jean should've told him yada yada", fuck you like actually. She was a young woman who was raped by somebody she deeply trusted (idc that he was young and drunk and it was "unintentional" - doesn't undo what he did), then ostracized by the school while he was put on a padastal (and left his other friends to follow his popularity), then suspended, then found out she was pregnant at a time when abortion was illegal. It makes plenty of fucking sense to me that she didn't go and tell Alex what happened. It's not even like she was doing anything to Alex in the current timeline, he's the one who keeps inserting himself into her life and pursing her romantically despite her saying no multiple times (parallels?).

Honestly, a pretty fun end and kind of makes me less upset at the other stuff. Like I'm still intellectually upset at it when I think about it, but I'm on a high from the fun stuff, so it doesn't feel as terrible as when I finished ep 11.

Overall:

A unique and enjoyable show, it was so fun to see all these characters in their specific situations and how they deal with them. The characters were all compelling, it's wild how I was into all their storylines. how charming each character/their story was, and how the story juggled them. It also made me see a bunch of actors in new lights, New most of all, as they acted in a role outside of their usual wheelhouse.

I think the most frustrating part for me was how it seemed like although they were getting at it, they never quite acknowledged that what Alex did to Jean that night was rape. It made me quite angry actually, especially how Alex's actions didn't feel like it actually took Jean's feelings and trauma and requests into account. I was at least glad that in that timeline, Jean doesn't get back with Alex.

before we get started, i want to say i’ve never actually read this arc--i stopped reading and then started again in the middle of the last arc, went back and reread that again, but never actually got around to this in the intervening years--probably due to a combination of ‘more new characters i already cannot remember the names’ + ‘supposed to be chad’s arc but not really’ + wanting to save myself a little bit of bleach content for later/not wanting it to be Truly Over. but now we have translated LNs and more anime and a mobile game and i am also okay with having read all of it. in this modern world franchises never die anyway so let’s get to it.

Ch424: The Lost Agent
