The Mosley Review: A Haunting in Venice
Tumblr media
In the landscape of cinema these days, its all about the action packed superhero genre and not really about the smaller and more intimate stories. In the right hands, the smaller and more human based stories can be something special and this franchise continues to be just that. Agatha Christie's famed detective is back and I was genuinely excited because of the amazingly crafted and fun previous film entries. This time around we get something a little more spooky in the famous murder mystery series and it is perfect for the Halloween season. Seriously, think about how many murder mystery films come out around this time that are perfectly themed for the occasion. Not many are and that is why I was surprised by it. There were moments where some of the characters felt a little cartoonish because of the accents, but it was part of the charm. The characters are as rich as expected and all of them have a distinct part to play which felt essential and perfect.
Tumblr media
Kenneth Branagh returns once again as Hercule Peroit and he continues to be so much fun to watch. His charisma and immediate attention to detail is always exciting to witness. I loved that with each entry we get to see the layers of Hercule and this time we get to see a side of him that is lonely and somewhat painful. It doesn't take long for his analytical brain to start working and when he's on the case, nobody is safe. His witty remarks and analogies were hilarious and deep cutting. Tina Fey joins the series as a fellow detective and famous friend of Hercule, Ariadne Oliver. The chemistry and banter between was fun to watch and even though her part to play in this story was a bit obvious, it was still cool to see it all deconstructed. Her accent was a bit all over the place at times as you could hear her restraining from sounding like the typically exaggerated 1940's dame. Riccardo Scamarcio was awesome and intimidating as his personal bodyguard, Vitale Portfoglio. I enjoyed his steadfast nature and his connection to Hercule. Jamie Dornan was great and endearing as Dr. Leslie Ferrier. His depiction of PTSD from World War 2 is something I haven't seen before during that time period and was refreshing. Jude Hill was outstanding as his son Leopold. The amount of insight and maturity the kid has in the most extreme situations was astounding and masterfully handled. Kelly Reilly is always wonderful to watch and as Rowena Drake, she delivers an emotionally charged performance that is layered and intense. Michelle Yeoh was excellent as Joyce Reynolds and she truly sets off the supernatural nature of the story. I liked that she was consistent for the most part, but there was one scene that really showed her hand and it was a bit disappointing. Emma Laird and Ali Khan were great as her assistants Desdemona and Nicholas Holland. They had your typical story of wanting a better life, but there is a fun twist that happens with them. Kyle Allen was good as Maxime Gerard and I liked that even though he was antagonistic, he had a sense of humanity that comes to light in the latter half of the film. Camille Cottin was good and steadfast in her faith as Olga Seminoff. I liked that she was the most honest person in the film and even though she had plenty of motive, she stayed true in the face of danger.
Tumblr media
The score by the wonderful Hildur Guðnadóttir was excellent and haunting in the best way. She nails that slow and creepy build to the horror elements of the story and keeps the emotional beats strong when characters are talking about the victims. Visually the film is gorgeous with the use of shadows and lanterns. I always loved the look of eroided stone walls and classicly painted murals. From beginning to end, this was a fun and spooky murder mystery that dabbles in the supernatural without being overly cheesy and keeps that same quality of storytelling that started with Murder on the Orient Express. I genuinely enjoy these films and I can't wait for another mystery for Hercule to solve. Let me know what you thought of the film or my review in the comments below. Thanks for reading!

Theme Project Proposal
Echoes
For my second photography project idea, I want to explore the theme of déjà vu and the unsettling familiarity of dreams. The project will be based on a short story I developed from a vivid dream. It follows the life of a young woman who moves to a rural town to live with her grandmother after a tragic accident. As she tries to adjust to her new environment, she begins to notice that she has seen it all before– many times, in her dreams. The road, the sky, and especially the same figure that would pass her during her daily commute from the store.
I want to encapsulate the feeling of Deja Vu, and the vagueness of dreams. The way how the one thing you want to remember from a dream is always faceless, nameless, formless– but everything else remains infuriatingly vivid. It is not a fully fledged love story, more akin to a Meet-Cute if even that. It’s more about the phenomenon of meeting someone and it feels as if you have known them all along. I want to create a visual language that captures the hazy, fragmented, and yet emotionally charged atmosphere of dreams.
I want to explore how the mind processes familiarity and memory, especially in relation to the concept of déjà vu. How much of our connection to a place or a person is based on actual experience versus emotional resonance?
For the viewer, I hope to create a sense of eerie yet comforting recognition. The faceless figure represents the universal experience of meeting someone who feels familiar, even when you can't place why. I want viewers to feel drawn into the emotional landscape of the main character — the unease of knowing and not knowing simultaneously.
I plan to carefully stage the scenes to reflect the sense of dream logic, where the sequence of events might feel slightly off but emotionally resonant. I can achieve that with a manual lens blur or post-editing. Ideally, I would work with actors to create expressive body language and emotional tension. If privacy is a concern, I will use POV shots so viewers can place themselves in the scene. If actors aren’t available or to heighten the dreamlike quality, I will experiment with digitally inserting hand-drawn characters into the photographs. This blend of realism and illustration will reinforce the blurred line between reality and dreams while also incorporating my skills as an illustrator. I will use diffused natural light, soft focus, and subtle blur to mimic the way details fade in and out of clarity in dreams. To create a dreamy, nostalgic tone (as in the original story took place around the late 60’s- early 70’s), I will keep the overall color scheme soft and muted, highlighting certain elements (like the figure’s clothing or a specific flower) for emotional emphasis. Most Importantly, I would use recurring elements such as the same road, same “minor” and “insignificant” objects, a certain window, or the mysterious figure’s presence will reinforce the sense of déjà vu and continuity.
A key challenge may be coordinating with actors or securing permission to shoot in specific rural locations. If this becomes an issue, I will shift to using more POV shots and digitally adding characters through illustration. This would allow me to maintain the story’s emotional tone without needing direct human subjects.
Echoes is a project about the strange, intimate connection between memory and familiarity. Through dreamlike imagery and careful use of color, light, and composition, I want to create an emotional narrative that reflects the sensation of meeting someone and feeling as though you’ve known them forever. The blending of realism and drawn elements will heighten the surreal atmosphere and invite viewers into the experience of déjà vu.

Writer-director Andrew Haigh returns to the silver screen with All of Us Strangers, a loose adaptation of Taichi Yamada's Strangers. When the lonely Adam meets a mysterious stranger, Harry, who lives in the same empty block of flats, he finds himself propelled towards a romance he never saw possible for himself. This chance encounter comes as Adam finds himself revisiting his family, who died when he was a young boy. Andrew Scott leads with the supporting cast rounded out by Paul Mescal, Claire Foy and Jamie Bell.
Every now and then, a film touches your soul on such a profound level that you want to scream about its brilliance from the rooftops. A beautiful, soul-stirring and haunting examination of queer loneliness, grief, longing and memory, All of Us Strangers is a profoundly moving and evocative picture that thrives in its focus on a homosexual experience. A film of two beautifully complementary halves, Strangers is a remarkably delicate, strangely straightforward yet slightly surreal contemplation of holding on, letting go and healing the inner child.
With direction both elegant and startling - shockingly tender in its most intimate moments of connection and lust, yet hard-hitting and emotionally gutting as it enters its most devastating territory - Andrew Haigh has crafted an achingly brilliant piece of cinema that could melt the iciest of hearts. Despite the ghostly presence and time-fracturing back-and-forth, a hauntingly authentic core to All of Us Strangers ensures it is continually grounded in the purest human emotion, leading to a cinematic experience that somehow feels like a voyage into our souls. Never tempted to seek out ostentatious filmmaking practices or overly grandiose techniques, Haigh remains wholly focused on the wider picture and the picture soars as a result.
While the original novel provides sturdy foundations on which he can build, Haigh delivers a screenplay of such emotional depth and focus to ruminate upon. Loneliness is a theme frequently found within queer cinema, explored here in such a fascinating way by contrasting views of the past with behaviours of the present in a way that feels revelatory and insightful; aching with the pain of a generation required to suppress to survive, exploring the indelible scars left by words and how our loved ones can be implicit in such lasting damage, Strangers remarkable way of tacking such conflicting, powerful emotions is put to great use, using its conceit of ghosts in a miraculously healing way. Along with its intelligent, beautifully reflective way of exploring grief, Strangers reflectively tight focus means its themes are explored with the profundity and clarity they deserve.
To describe Andrew Scott's performance in All Of Us Strangers as one of the greatest acting performances in recent memory would be an understatement. A life-changing and career-defining turn aching with a vulnerability that Scott portrays with an impossible magnetism, Scott's work is truly superlative. Here he plays a 40-something writer isolating his feelings as a result of grief and suppression, and a preteen boy hiding his true self and desperate to feel his parent’s arms around him one last time. It would take an extraordinarily tight performer to balance those roles with the subtlety and complexity needed to convince, and Scott utterly excels with a leading turn unparalleled in its emotional depth and fortitude.
Paul Mescal emotes like few others, an emotionally charged performance of a man fighting his own demons while trying to support someone else with theirs. As with his sensational Aftersun performance, Mescal conveys so much emotion with the slightest of mannerisms, his eyes signalling so much hurt and sensitivity yet containing an elusive quality we cannot help but be compelled towards. He's wonderful opposite Scott, their chemistry irresistible, with the pair delivering one of the most multi-faceted on-screen relationships in some time. Similarly, Jamie Bell takes on the role of Adam's father and earns some of the most heartwarming moments of the piece, characterised by the stiff upper lip that defined men of the era, but uncovering a soft heart that provides a refreshingly open-minded portrayal of a father who simply wants the best for his son.
Of the supporting cast, however, Claire Foy shines the brightest. Exquisite as Adam’s mother, Foy delivers a complicated performance brimming with the mindset of a period and riddled with a deep sadness that is performed to absolute perfection. While a knowingness of their fates could have become one-note and inevitable, the journey becomes so much more fulfilling because of the layers to Foy and Scott's relationship. In the single most gut-wrenching sequence of the film, as Foy sings to Scott a song that defined his childhood, it feels like the film stops still in its tracks: "Maybe I didn't hold you all those lonely, lonely times/And I guess I never told you, I'm so happy that you're mine". It is in that stillness, and many of the silences that follow, that Foy's performance comes to life, an outstanding, pivotal performance that demonstrates the importance of brilliant supporting turns.
All of Us Strangers begins as an open wound, one the rest of the film seeks to tend to and allow to heal; by the time we reach its close, as devastated as we are, with the pain lingering on, it feels like our souls have been changed by this rather transformative piece. Character-led and theme-heavy, Strangers may not be embraced as enthusiastically by those who prefer a stronger sense of plot to propel its narrative forward - but for those for resonate with the themes, particularly, as suspected given the features’ unwavering focus on a queer experience, an LGBTQ+ audience, will find it hard not to be caught up in the emotional current of Strangers. A rare cinematic experience, All of Us Strangers is a dreamscape that poignantly contemplates some of the hardest-hitting themes while boasting one of the finest British ensembles put to film in some time, led by Andrew Scott's searing work.'

Hi, Tina! You have a film studies background, if I remember correctly? So what do you make of 509 compared to 309, considering they have the same director? I find the way they've shot Buck's apartment this season makes it look so cold and empty, and it's such a contrast to our kitchen and couch scenes in season 3, which have such an intimate/warm feel to them.
Hey there! Thanks for this ask, I do have a film studies background and definitely have a lot to say about these scenes compared to one another!
Like you pointed out, it’s very interesting that it’s the same director (Marcus Stokes) for both of these scenes. What’s sticking out to me the most is difference in marking between the two.
In the Buck and Eddie kitchen scene, they face each other throughout the conversation, and the director has Buck move two times, both towards Eddie. He first turns his body away from the island in order to squarely face Eddie/the camera when he wants to emphasize his regret about not being there for him and Chris. This is open body language and shows that he not only wants Eddie (and us) to see how sorry he is but that he also isn’t afraid of being vulnerable around Eddie (who also is squarely facing Buck throughout the entire conversation).
The second time he moves is in this moment:
Tumblr media
They’re talking about playing a video game (with their son), so it would have been understandable if the director had instructed Oliver to simply stay put and deliver his line from where he was already standing. The decision to have Buck move closer to Eddie as he delivers the line makes it flirty and charged. To have Oliver perform the line this way is already an interesting choice, but it becomes even more interesting when we look at how this same director marked a (concretely) romantically coded scene.
Unlike what we see with Buck and Eddie, the 5x09 scene already starts out a bit odd. Whereas Buck and Eddie entered the kitchen together and remained facing one another, here Buck and Taylor are already in the kitchen and both have their backs facing one another—Buck does approach Taylor to put down a bowl, but he very quickly takes his place facing the kitchen cabinets.
(Side note: it’s interesting also that Taylor faces the camera/us while Buck is completely turned away. We learned more about Taylor in this episode and [theoretically] understand what’s going on in her head now, so she’s open to us. Buck, on the other hand, is still a mystery. We still don’t concretely know where he’s at in this relationship, even after everything that happens in this episode. So? He’s facing away from Taylor and from us, closed off.)
When the declaration of love happens, Buck turns slightly towards Taylor and returns the sentiment (still never facing her or us face on).
Tumblr media
So, they tell each other “I love you”/“Love you too.” What happens next? The director has the editors immediately cut to the next moment in the montage. We do see Buck and Taylor kissing a few moments later, but we don’t actually see Buck move from his spot at the counter to join Taylor and embrace her—we are thrown right into the middle of their kiss.
If these scenes had been directed by two different directors, maybe I would look at the Buck and Taylor scene with a less critical lens and say “well I guess that director just doesn’t care too much about showing the movement between characters who are emotionally tied.” Except….he lingered in the kitchen throughout the Buck and Eddie scene and, as I pointed out, had Buck move not once but twice in Eddie’s direction. And—look at how he lets us see Toni and Clive’s movement towards each other when they reunite, or how all of Bobby and Athena’s scenes together in this episode had an emphasis on movement (especially in the casino and when they’re watching the VHS tapes). Even the times when Buck or Taylor do move in this episode (Taylor to leave, Buck to Oklahoma, Taylor first up the stairs and then Buck behind), their movement is disjointed, which completely contrasts the two other couples we see (and contrasts Buck and Eddie’s simultaneous movement around the kitchen in 3x09).
Making that Buck and Eddie moment in the kitchen feel so charged was a choice, and the decision to have Buck never fully face Taylor (or the camera) square on during their declaration of love and to not show them move towards each other for their kiss is just as significant.
Could I be overanalyzing? Of course. But, as I said, the fact that these scenes are from the same director? Too much of a coincidence in my humble opinion 🤷🏻‍♀️😅

I hope this isn’t to vulgar to ask but have you experienced men of every rising sign? More so would you be able to speak on the genitalia of all the eighth house signs in men you’ve encountered? I would like to see if there is any merit in the general depictions of the eighth house when it comes to sex organs
Haha you’re fine my love! I don’t mind being of help!
I personally attract virgo, Sagittarius, Gemini, Scorpio rising men the most. I have had sexual encounters with men of all 12 zodiac signs and I’ve managed to get rising signs for a great deal of them! Sadly I can’t speak broadly on many of the rising signs considering the higher volume of the four I just mentioned being the majority of the ones that come my way.
Aries rising men: in my experience? Sweet, they are very much what you see is what you get types considering their entire chart is a reflection of the natural traits of all 12 zodiac signs in their comfortable houses. Sexually I would say their sexual organs look dark, like literally they have a darker tone then the rest of their body. They aren’t rough sexually but they can be very intense, if I could describe them? I’d say it felt like I was swimming in a pool at night with strobe lights at the bottom. They know how to have sex and it feels good, they are very much so emotionally available during and after. Very violent orgasams and can seem very spiritual during.
Taurus rising men: in my experience? Babies. They can be needy and distant at the same time, very weird mix. They want things at a very specific time and can be hard to compromise with especially sexually. the thing that stood out to me is how fast they ejaculate, and I don’t mean this in a bad way, they are just very easily aroused much like a literal bull. They tend to love foreplay but if you’re too good at it they’ll cum fast. They can be very vibrant and bubbly during sex lots of laughter, but if they’re not laughing they’re usually just super into it lmao. They have very big and long sexual organs. I wouldn’t say thick, I would say more like a long sword in typical sag style. They are very out of tune emotionally during sex so that’s the only downside.
Gemini rising men: in my experience? Sad boys. They got issues and they’re not good at hiding them. They can seem moody, aloof and slightly misunderstood. I can’t peg them sometimes, they seem like they have a mixture of mommy and daddy issues but then they can seem arrogant and self assured at a moments notice. Domination kinks and restriction plague them. I would say the sex is often sensual and deeply attentive in its nature. They want to feel all of it and none of it at the same time. Touch and physical intimacy is the thing they adore the most in sex and I think that’s what makes them so special. They’re really sweet and good natured and you get to see that part of them more freely during sex as contrary to the belief of Capricorn in the 8th these natives are tremendously affectionate and loving during sex. I will say that they get sad or more serious after climax and I have no idea wether Saturn does that or if it’s something deeper. They may be a bit on the smaller side when it comes to sexual organs in most cases but they know how to use it for sure. They are very horny like the goat
Cancer rising men: in my experience? I’ve dealt with some who have cap and others who have aqua in the 8th, for some reason the result is still similar in a way. They can be soooo receptive, they know what you need better than you do. They are present but not overbearing. They feel parental but in a way that feeds the parts of you that felt like they were missing something. I’d say sex always comes with a lesson with them. It’s never just casual sex. They tend to nurture during sex and can be very emotionally deep and connective during. They are definitely the type you spend the night with naturally or hang out with the next few days or unexpectedly end up dating. The sexual organs are usually pretty unique! Some curve, some have like those cute beauty marks on em. They also tend to be well hung.
Leo rising men: in my experience? I found them to be distant, perplexing and heavy. They seem a bit disengaged but can have moments of affectionate behavior and romantic burst that come from nowhere. Sexually though they can be passive, they feel real wet and liquidy I dunno how to describe it. Sex with them just feels very moist and like there’s a lot of fluids everywhere but idk it doesn’t feel like a bad thing. They precum a lot and can be very submissive. They are not horny per say? They are more on the “if you wanna” side of things. So Neptune and Jupiter rule Pisces so as you can already imagine these men tend to be packing some heat. They sorta dunno how to use it though? For some reason they have a very clumsy way of having sex as if they’ve never done it before? They don’t really have boundaries either so you’ll need to make sure to ask them if they’re okay cause a lot of the time they might not be.
Virgo rising men: in my experience? I’m gonna try and not be biased. These men are very ethereal. They are very quiet and genuine. They have this very honest and blunt way about doing and saying things. They carry a lot of pain though and you can see it in their eyes which I will say they have very intense eyes. Sexually? They are VERY passionate. They treat sex like a sport but not a fun sport, rather they treat it like a life or death ring match. They definitely pack a punch and will rock your shit. They can be deeply sensitive and intimate all the while being completely in tune with every part of you during sex in such a way that’ll make you feel like you’re freefalling. The genitals in my experience are veiny, very masculine in the way they look. Every time I see a guy with a Virgo rising it never ceases to amaze me how rough and aggressive their penis are. They are also very intense ejaculators and can be very big on equal ejaculation(my pleasure is your pleasure theme) contrary to the Aries myth, they can go and go and go for hours without cumming so as a warning please try and build your stamina
Libra rising men: in my experience? Confused? They can seem like they’re waiting for something to start but also won’t do anything to make something start. They can seem aggressive but are secretly hoping you make the first move. They are very touchy and very adorable in their being but they definitely can be the types to let the other person take the lead. One thing I’ve always liked about libra rising men is their cute butts and their charming way of seducing you without oversexualizing the situation. Sexually they are AMAZING Jesus. Once you get them going they will really run rampant. They are very sensual and they love slow touching and intimacy. They are emotionally present and can have a personality change during sex, they turn into a whole other Individual. A warning I will say is that they get very caught up in the moment and you’ll have to snap them out of it from time to time if they’re to caught up in the pleasure. They’re sexual organs like most fixed signs is pretty thick and heavy. In my experience the length is normal but the girth is what will really kill yah.
Scorpio rising men: in my experience? Fuck these guys are HOT. They don’t have to try very hard either which is annoying, they literally just exude this strong, mysterious and emotionally unavailable energy that makes you want to strip right in front of them. Are they into you? Do they care? Are you more into it then them? Who knows and they probably won’t tell you. They can be very manipulative and tend to gaslight(and I’m not joking about this nor am I jokingly using the term) they tend to have mental detachments from their emotions which can give them sociopath like tendecies. Sexually they are curious, very control oriented. They want to watch you go crazy so most times they leave you in charge. Riding is one of their favorite positions because they get to see you fein for them. They are senstive to your feelings during sex but don’t mistake this for them being emotionally invested in you, the Gemini in their 8th house is playing whatever role gets you to respond in the way they desire. They are very loving nonetheless when they do truly care for you. The sexual organs are usually very thick. I think they’re the ones who invented the word chode. The penis tends to be girthy and also has a pretty good length to it, and they definitely know how to work it.
Sagittarius rising men: in my experience? These guys are some fucking heartthrobs! I hate to say it but man they are so rugged and masculine you can’t help but love their boyish nature. They are definitely obnoxious, loud and ridiculously dense when it comes to reading the room. What makes them so hot though is how reckless they are with all things. They don’t give a shit. Sexually though? Emotions run HIGH they tend to be very drawn to feminine energy. A lot of guys like this adore feminity in all forms be it in men or women. If you have that feminine glow to you, they’ll eat you up. They tend to have a strong desire to impregnate and the idea of being connected and having that sort of emotional receptivity with the person their fucking drives them wild. They are very intense sexually and can be very overwhelming the first few times mainly because adjusting to them is impossible, you never know what emotional spectrum you’ll get. Their sexual organs aren’t that big, sometimes they can be girthy but most times long and or average size tends to be what I see more. Are they good at using it? Yeah, you’ll fall asleep right after trust me.
Capricorn rising men: in my experience? They are very unassuming. They are so fucking calm, so fucking unmoved and so fucking ahead of you every time. They don’t rush things and can really make you feel so comfortable with how respectful and real they are. They have a very boy next door or upstairs neighbor vibe to them. Sleeping with them feels naughty sometimes other times it feels like it was a long build up. Sexually they are exhibitionist. They definitely will fill the hell out of you with their more modest persona at first. They want to enjoy all parts of your body but they also want the show to be about them. They want to hear you want them, how good they make you feel, they want it to feel like a performance where the crowd is watching. And dare I say they are constantly mastering their art, sex gets better and better and better with them. There’s never a dull moment and every time they have sex with you it gets more personal, more intense, more all consuming. They have a high libido and they are practically insatiable. They are selfish but I will say this, if you can’t get them off they definitely will do it themselves. Their sexual organs are often brighter than the other parts of their body. Very pretty too look at and also a bit on the hairy side.
Aquarius rising men: In my experience? They can seem really standoffish and for a good reason. They tend not to like ignorance and the more they see you trying hard to relate to them the less they’ll acknowledge you. They like the idea of someone who is down for them but not the idea of someone who is groveling, don’t and I mean don’t by any means act like a fan. They tend to run hot and cold for ever even if they like you. Sexually they can be meticulously planning the whole thing. The meet up, the positions, the foreplay all of it. They tend to need warnining or to know both parties had time to clean up. They’re not ones for sex on the fly or random sex as it can lead to a lot of unnecessary accidents. They’re attentive and very much the types to make you feel like you’re clay and you’re being sculpted into something magnificent. Their amazing at sex, they are like gallileo, or Mozart when it comes to the act. They move around your body like a serpent, then a leaf in the wind, than rain touching your skin. They are more focused on your pleasure than theirs so orgasms/reaching climax can be tough for them. The sexual organs are pretty small or average in most cases. If mars/Jupiter or Neptune/Uranus is there that augments things.
Pisces rising men: In my experience? They are definitely ass men. Everything revolves around booty. They are definitely soft and very sweet, but they have a sweetness to them that is fake. The real them is far more serious and self aware then they give off. They know what they’re doing and they know what you’re doing, so don’t ever be fooled by the veil they put up. They’re incredible receptive and sensitive and a lot of their internal feelings come out at some point just not at the moment it needs to. Sexually they can very hotel sex types. Like I don’t know how to really explain it and it’s so opposite of what you would expect of libra but they are very impersonal people. Like sex can feel very romantic and as if they are treating you like a significant other but something about it is detached, far away and unavailable. They are good at creating the engagement aspect of sex but can fall short at the emotional part which is semi-strange considering what you’ll get up to that point. They are very experienced but at the same time they may need to be taught to connect a little deeper or to open up more. They have very soft and gentle sexual styles that will still make you feel cared for but sometimes in the back of it all you’ll still feel that “I’m fucking a stranger” vibe. Their sexual organs tend to be very beautiful, nice length and nice width. They’ll definitely be a lot better at the sex part once you guys are committed though.
So obviously this is a general word of mouth and does not take into account planets being in the 8th house nor does it mention decans which can greatly alter much of what I’ve said. And honestly you can apply the decan rule here if you’d like! Simply use the decan lord so if they’re a third decan Virgo rising and have Aries in the third decan in their 8th house which is Aries/Sagittarius: you would mix those interpretations. Anyways hope this helps love.

Unpopular King Opinion
Unpopular opinion I’m about to repeat AGAIN; But King actually has a lot more depth and nuance than people give him credit for, and he has that depth regardless of whether or not he was an actual king of demons or has some mysterious, all-powerful backstory or whatnot. If we look at him just as-is, at face-value, with what we actually have in canon, no speculation; King IS a very interesting character, actually, with a surprising amount of darkness!
There’s the parallels with Lilith that I’ve brought up in the past. King is a very artistic individual who wants glory and recognition, but on his own terms; He wants to be appreciated for stuff he cares about and feels he has agency in, not because he’s superficially adorable or anything! But at the same time, King DOES want to be coddled and cared for, given a sort of childhood he never really got- But he just wants some respect and agency with that as well, is that too much to ask for?
And that fits with how Luz babies him, but in a way that respects and listens to King’s requests, taking heed of his advice and lessons; Eda treats them both with respect and a proper level of accountability, while also protecting them because they’re both kids who don’t deserve that. This contrasts with Amity who’s kind of forced to grow up and is superficially taken seriously, but on the downside, she’s severely emotionally stunted and feels like she has to do all of the heavy-lifting for herself and others, by herself.
King is kind of coming to age in his own way like Luz, learning to take accountability and responsibility for his mistakes, as part of that quest to be taken seriously and respected, while still getting to be treated kindly and looked after, and then looking after Luz by himself occasionally. He wants power and control, but he sometimes has issues with the responsibility that comes with that, with demanding attention from Luz in Really Small Problems, and how King has to step up to his alleged leadership role by owning up to his mistakes, how we see him be a great teacher at Hexside for a day.
We see him start as a terrible teacher in I was a Teenage Abomination, before he improves in The Intruder, and by The First Day he can win the hearts of an entire class of teenagers, kids he once thought were terrifying after Once Upon a Swap- But who he grew to better understand thanks to his experience in Luz’s body, as well as learning to understand Luz herself and be a better person to her! Even when his fears of judgment aren’t fully conquered during Grom, no thanks to Eda’s own personal experiences and warnings- Gus manages to encourage King’s eventual confidence to speak out!
King’s got a disconnect with Luz and Eda in that both are only really demonized or looked down upon, as criminals and troublemakers, a cursed witch and a human, dehumanized… While King has been mostly fetishized, but that too is also dehumanizing, reducing him to a prop and a toy, a doll and a pet; One that people like Roselle, Dottie, Tibbles, and Boscha think they can just buy and own without permission. Just a cute animal to own and be carried by his collar by say Lilith, who also dehumanizes Luz as another one of Eda’s ‘pets’.
And as I said, that disconnect about being fetishized and seemingly ‘wanted’, to Eda who was cursed and ostracized and seen only as a monstrous freak; It means she doesn’t quite understand and even downplays King’s issues with that, which it’s why it’s important she literally walks in his shoes during Once Upon a Swap, that Eda realizes that being fetishized isn’t fun either, that her and King both just want respect and agency and to be treated by people with their own agency, and not like, say, someone’s younger troublemaker of a sibling who doesn’t understand what she’s getting into, as Lilith sometimes feels about her.
Likewise, King has issues with feeling outpaced and left behind by others, we see it literally happen in Covention and Really Small Problems. And this inferiority complex makes King convince himself that it’s okay if he acts against his friends, THEY can easily handle a minor loss or two when they’ve got so many wins under their belt, when they’re much farther ahead; King just wants to catch up, to be on equal footing with them! And he IS, Luz and Eda do respect and care for him, even if they sometimes forget to, but it doesn’t justify King working behind their backs, using Eda’s owl-beast form to get revenge on a toddler, or taking the credit for Luz’s work and even trying to make her friends disappear.
He’s got very artistic inclinations, if King were a witch he’d easily be a Bard AND Beastkeeper at least, maybe in Abominations as well! It provides a sense of control over mindless, obedient people… But honestly, I don’t think King is THAT obsessed with power. He just wants to feel in charge when for so long he’s just been brushed aside, ignored, and talked over. When he’s in a good environment and feels safe and in control to a reasonable degree, I don’t think King would actually care for an army to command as much, if at all.
I’ll say it again, but it’s hilariously meta that people ignore King’s depth and personhood, his individuality often, and just boil him down to the cute pet, a borderline shallow mascot; Just another pretty face, a garnish to a more important criminal like Eda on her Wanted Poster, or as Luz’s little furry animal companion and sidekick. That’s what the characters in-universe do… And it’s what the fandom kind of does, in a sense? People in-universe don’t even have the luxury of getting to know King intimately as an audience member.
…Mind you, I STILL love adorable King fanart and memes to death! I am not at all trying to fault anyone who doesn’t recognize King’s depth this way, I can see why you’d miss it in a sense, and I’m not implying that anyone is somehow a ‘bad person’, or a ‘fake fan’, or whatever, for not considering this a lot more. You do you, and I’m not saying it’s a personal requirement that people intimately discuss and consider King, I will always enjoy the cute fanart and depictions of King, the Incorrect Quotes, all that stuff! I just kinda wish we could have that, AND more acknowledgement of King…
So I want BOTH things, so even if I’m missing out on one- I’m definitely going to enjoy the other, and it’s okay if one wants to as well! Go ahead, enjoy King as you please, guilt-free… I just wanted to get this out there, and anyhow, I’M not the boss of anyone, it’s not like I can tell anyone else how to engage with this show, its characters, or the fandom through the content that’s produced! I’m just another fan and viewer.

Tales of Woe - Scenes from S1
1.1
She had finally had enough.
After dozens of questions and just one response, the nameless woman tore the sensors off her fingers and called the whole thing to a halt. She didn't know anything, yet she knew that this was pointless; and that she was done being a specimen, letting these people do whatever they wanted to her.
"I want to speak to someone in charge," she stated once more, more fiercely this time.
She felt better just having made the demand. And at least it made something happen; the man with the machine left and she was alone for awhile, her head full of the same sorts of questions the man had just asked.
Who was she?
What had happened to her?
Why the tattoos?
But she didn't have any answers other than the one she'd offered the man with the machine. Her mind was still a complete blank and the stark interrogation room just made the woman feel small and anxious about everything she didn't know.
She was clearly under suspicion but she didn't think she'd done anything wrong. Her only memories were a blur of being naked and yelled at, shaking under a thousand lights. Then there was the onslaught of tests, being dragged around like a rag doll as her brain tried to catch up to what was going on.
Finally, the door opened again and she looked up to see a different man walk in. This agent was bearded and a bit stern looking, but when he got closer she thought his blue eyes seemed sympathetic. Yet she still wondered what he was going to demand of her, if he was going to be as pointless as the last guy.
"I'm Special Agent Kurt Weller," he said. "I'm the lead agent on your case."
The memory-less woman felt a flash of satisfaction, realizing that her demand had been met. But that was quickly washed away by the flood of questions rushing through her mind.
She asked him the most important ones - if they knew what was going on, who she was. But, frustratingly, the agent didn't have any answers for her. Instead, he told her that they hadn't been able to identify her through any of the usual means, despite all the testing they had done.
The woman was disappointed but not surprised. Somehow she'd known that it wouldn't be that easy - someone had gone to a lot of trouble to do this to her.
She was surprised though, when the agent asked her if she recognized him. Especially because he seemed a little uncomfortable with the question himself; sounding as if he was unsure how to even ask it.
To her, the question was absurd. Hadn't she made it clear that she didn't know anything or anyone?
"I don't even recognize me," she replied.
That's when he dropped the first real bomb in her relatively short memory, causing a seismic shift in her understanding of the situation. Telling her that he might somehow be familiar to her, even though he didn't know her. Because his name was tattooed in large print across her back.
Even without much context or experience, she'd come to understand that the tattoos which covered her were not at all normal and a major part of whatever was happening to her. But all of the ones she'd examined were just random patterns and pictures. Nothing nearly as obvious as the huge letters stamped across her back.
The woman started to panic, questions and anxiety flooding through her. How could it be that she knew him well enough to have his name tattooed on her and he didn't know her at all?
But the agent had asked her to try to find some familiarity in him and he had asked kindly, without making it a demand. Which, at least, was different than anything that had happened since she woke up in a bag, without a single memory in her head.
She reached out cautiously, putting one hand on his, then lifting the other to his stubbled cheek. The idea of touching someone else, instead of being the one touched - even that was something new. The agent looked uncomfortable with the situation but let her continue her exploration of his features until her fingers drifted over his eyebrow and he finally flinched.
Disappointingly, her hands didn't know him anymore than her mind did. There was nothing but a total blank as he pulled her hand away, looking a bit embarrassed at having just been examined so intimately.
"Anything?" he asked.
She told him no and could tell that he wasn't surprised. Though he did still look a little flustered at what had passed between them and switched straight into Agent-mode when she asked what would happen to her next.
He said something about releasing photos of her to the media to try and gather tips about who she could be. Which was, even to her, pretty obviously the next step in trying to figure out her identity.
But she was starting to understand that there weren't likely to be any easy answers. Clearly, the agents weren't going to quickly identify her and bring her home to her family. Which then made her wonder what was going to happen to her now that the FBI finally seemed done with their questions. How long was she going to be stuck in that sterile room?
"No, that's not what I meant. I mean what happens right now? I don't have anywhere to go."
The agent looked surprised at her question, as if just realizing her situation. The nameless woman tried not to feel so vulnerable, even though she was completely reliant on people with unknown intentions. It was hard to hold it together though when she was so alone and adrift, without a single memory to tether herself to. Lost and detached from anything; born into a world of people that only seemed to see her as a dangerous commodity.
Suddenly she felt completely drained, both physically and emotionally exhausted from her nightmarish experience. She wanted to curl into a corner of the cold metal room and shut her eyes until someone could help her, tell her who she was. But she was at the mercy of this agent, with no idea what she was allowed to do in this strange existence.
Agent Weller gave her a worried look, as if he could feel her need bleeding through her words. Then he pulled out his phone and started sending typing some messages, groaning to himself as he received a response he clearly didn't like.
"We're working on finding you a place to stay but it's not going to be ready for another hour or two. I'm sorry ma'am, but you'll have to wait here until it's all set up."
The woman shuddered, hating the thought of being stuck in that room alone with her thoughts for another minute, let alone two hours. Her mind was a swirl of endless questions, the kind that led straight into despair. She wondered how to tell the agent that she was going to lose it if he left her there but then felt pathetic just thinking about admitting it.
The woman started to panic as she realized again how little control she had over her situation. The agent could leave her in that room for as long as he wanted to - she had no reason to trust what he said. Even though she wanted to believe he would help her, she'd also been quite irritated by the way the FBI had treated thus far.
But just as her thoughts began to spiral out of control, Agent Weller surprised her by reaching over and taking her hand in his. In fact, the agent seemed equally befuddled with his own action, frowning down at their enjoined hands before looking up at her in concern.
His next words were a miracle though, as if he were reading her thoughts. For the first time in her short memory she actually felt seen, despite all the previous examinations.
"Hey. Do you want to get out of here?"
Maybe she hadn't recognized him, maybe she never would. But he had understood her need and she was immensely grateful for that.
She needed something to hold onto. And maybe, just maybe, that something was the stern-but-gentle agent who was still nervously squeezing her hand.
###
His Jane Doe was about to lose it.
Even without knowing her at all, Agent Weller could easily see the anxiety take over her body after he told her about the delay in finding her accommodations. Which made a lot of sense as soon as he realized how long she'd already been in rooms just like that one, getting bombarded with tests and questions that she had no answers for. Not to mention the situation she found herself in - alone in an unfamiliar world with no memories or sense of self.
What didn't make any sense was the way Weller automatically reached for the mystery woman's hand, curling her fingers into his palm in an attempt to settle her. Despite her physical examination of him, there was no reason to think she would invite his touch. Also, it was most definitely not amongst his usual tactics. On the contrary, Weller was normally quite reserved with his manners, careful to maintain appropriate contact in all of his interactions, especially when it came to gorgeous victims in his cases.
But she was panicking and looked like she was about to crumble into herself. The terrified look on her face was breaking his heart and Weller suddenly realized that he'd just condemned her to more hours in that sterile room, with the intense lighting and distinct air of criminality. No wonder she looked so on edge, about to teeter into an emotional abyss.
Shit, he thought. He should have considered her prior experience before telling her she had to remain in interrogation like a prisoner. Not that there were a lot of options for what to do with her until the safe house was cleaned and ready. But he had to do something to resolve her obvious anxiety. Even if it meant breaking his usual rules.
"Hey. Do you want to get out of here?" he asked, the thought tumbling out of his mouth before it was even fully formed.
But any regrets about his impromptu offer were instantly pushed aside by the spark of hope his words elicited from the woman's troubled green eyes. She looked at him with a heady mixture of surprise and relief that filled his chest with sugary satisfaction.
"Where would we go?" she asked, still wary but already visibly calmer from his suggestion.
Damn, he hadn't exactly thought that far yet.
There certainly wasn't protocol for a situation like that, so Weller just did his best to think about what he would want after being cooped up in windowless rooms for an entire day.
"Outside?" he suggested. "We could go for a walk."
Her eyes flickered nervously again, then brightened with hope as she nodded shyly.
Weller felt extremely pleased with himself, far more than he should have been, as he led the tattooed woman out of the interrogation room and into the elevator. He really should have been formulating a good excuse for what he was doing but instead Weller just texted Mayfair a brief update that did not explain why he was personally escorting their asset outside the building until her safe house was ready.
The benefit of having a superior that trusts you, he thought wryly.
But then, more soberly, Weller reminded himself that he only held that trust because he never did stuff like that. He was always sure to play within the rules and, therefore, his word held a lot of weight with Mayfair.
Again he asked himself what the hell he was thinking. He'd known this woman for less than a half hour and his usual rock solid professional boundaries were already wavering.
But there she was, standing rigidly beside him in the elevator, chewing her lower lip nervously. Weller tried to convince himself that it was all just because she'd needed help and he was wired to protect. Though he'd done the job long enough to know that his near instantaneous attachment to this victim was more than that, something he'd never experienced before.
Inappropriate conduct Weller, he silently scolded himself, in a mock military academy tone.
But then the elevator reached the ground floor and Weller glanced over at the nameless woman, who was still obviously tense, her eyes flickering up at him hopefully. Quickly he shrugged off the mental reprimand; when he looked at her, there was no doubt in his mind that he was doing the right thing, even if it wasn't exactly consistent with protocol.
His thought was further confirmed as they approached the exit and she became visibly calmer, even offering him a tentative smile as he led her out the door, his arm hovering protectively behind her back. Then, when they stepped outside the building, she turned her eyes towards the street and took a deep breath in, wrinkling her nose a little at the odorous city air.
Weller grinned at the mixture of joy and relief on the woman's face as she stared wide-eyed at her surroundings; first taking in all the people on the street before looking up at the skyscrapers in awe. He let her just stand there and take it all in for a moment before gently directing her towards the closest green space he could think of, a small park in amongst the concrete jungle of lower Manhattan.
It was quiet in the park, as quiet as his Jane Doe. She hadn't said a word since they left the NYO, though her body language had gradually loosened up during the walk. Weller wondered what she was thinking about but held himself back from asking. He wanted to give her a chance to decompress after everything she'd just been through, not make her feel pressured to talk.
They reached the end of the grassy area and, again, he wasn't sure what to do. There was still a lot of time to kill before they needed to be back at the NYO.
"Do you want to sit? Or keep walking?" he asked.
It was just a simple question, but Weller hoped that offering her a choice would give her a small sense of control.
He watched her think for a moment, tilt her head just so. It was almost impossible not to stare at the bird tattoo on her neck, watch the way it moved with her skin.
Having your whole body tattooed against your will was such an invasion he couldn't even begin to imagine how she felt about it. But Weller also couldn't help thinking about how aesthetically eye-catching some of was.
AKA, fucking hot.
The thought came to him completely unbidden, forcing Weller to take his eyes off her skin as he chastised himself strongly. Learning to stay emotionally detached from victims in his cases was one of the first things he'd had to figure out as a rookie agent. Nowadays, he didn't have problems with that anymore, except in cases involving little girls. But the woman beside him was making his chest ache with her innocent vulnerability and all Kurt could do was tell himself to calm the hell down and keep things professional.
"Let's walk," she finally answered, shivering a little as the sun dropped behind a building.
Weller realized that he'd brought her out in just a tank top and immediately felt like a total idiot. He hadn't thought to grab her a jacket because he'd already been flustered with his own actions and it had been warm out when they left the NYO.
Plus, it was odd having to dress an adult, he figured. Though he still felt negligent for not having thought of it earlier.
Taking off his suit jacket, Weller draped it over the woman's bare shoulders and she flashed him another thankful look. Idly, he wondered if she appreciated more than just the warmth of his coat - if she'd been feeling too exposed in just her tattooed skin. Especially after already having been scrutinized for hours by strangers.
They continued walking away from the park and Weller kept having to remind himself not to stare. But now it wasn't the tattoos that kept tugging at his eye; he just felt drawn to the woman in a way he couldn't explain.
Obviously there was the mystery of his name in large letters on her back. That would be intriguing in any circumstance. But it was more than that - for instance, he was out walking with her instead of tending to all the things he should have been doing. Which was definitely not usual Kurt Weller behaviour. He was known as a workaholic for a reason and set the example for his team to follow. So he should be at his desk, finishing up the paperwork for that raid in Kentucky and then catching up on this tattoo case.
And yet, there he was, strolling the streets of lower Manhattan with a memoryless stranger and all Weller was sure of anymore was that he needed to protect her. He had no idea what had happened to her, what her future held. But he was going to figure it out and help her not look so lost.
Walking in silence seemed to help calm her so they kept going until they were almost at the water, at the tip of Manhattan. Then, when they couldn't walk any further, they stopped, looking out over the bay.
Weller looked at his Jane Doe as she stood there, seeming adrift in her thoughts. Which wasn't surprising of course. She had to have so much going on in her mind, all that wondering about who she was and why this was happening to her. And even though he felt like he should say something to break the quiet, Weller couldn't think of anything that didn't sound stupid or insensitive to what she was going through.
While he was still searching for the right words, she turned to him, her expression suddenly anxious again. Then an onslaught of questions poured out of her like an emotional dam in her had finally been broken.
"What if I never find out who I am? Why this happened to me?" she asked.
"What if I never remember anything? And I'm just stuck with these tattoos and no life and no one who knows me? What am I going to do?
She was getting visibly agitated again, biting down hard on her lower lip. Her eyes were wide and scared, begging him for an answer.
Weller had the oddest instinct to wrap his arms around her from behind, hold her until she calmed. But of course he didn't actually do that, would never behave that way with a complete stranger.
Briefly his mind flashed back to the interrogation room, the way he'd automatically taken her hand to help settle her panic. Flushing with embarrassment at his breach of etiquette and the tingle he felt even thinking back to it, Kurt reminded himself that she was the vulnerable victim of a crime and he had to be extremely careful not to abuse his position of power.
Still, he couldn't help but stand right up beside her, close enough that her shoulder touched up against his. Weller told himself it was just to ground her with some human contact and remind her that he was there with her. Yet immediately he again found himself yearning to put his arm around her, and again he had to vehemently tell himself no. And then, somehow, as if he had no control over what was happening, his arm was draped around her shoulders, completely disregarding everything in his usual moral code.
She tensed at his touch and Weller cursed himself silently for whatever had possessed him to do it. But when he started to take his arm away, she moved even closer and leaned up against him.
"No, please don't," she said.
Well that sold it. Weller replaced his arm on her shoulders, wrapping his hand around her right bicep. He noticed that she was strong, seemingly made of muscle, and he gave her a reassuring squeeze on the arm. Which won him an upward look and a timid grin that jabbed at his heart.
She still looked so lost and he didn't know what he could say to make anything better for her. But Weller knew that he had to at least try and alleviate her worries, make some sort of effort to show her how much he wanted to help. So he did his best to gather up some words, hoping that they didn't sound too trite.
"I know you feel very alone and scared about what's happening to you. But you're not alone, I'm here to help you. And I don't have any answers for you yet but I promise, if there's any way out there to figure out who you are, my team will find it."
His attempt at comfort was met with a furrowed brow and skeptical eyes. She obviously didn't completely believe him, yet she seemed content to stand much too close and Weller found himself rubbing her arm absently as she continued to study him carefully.
"You trust your team a lot," she finally said, in an unreadable tone.
"They're the best," Weller replied, with full confidence.
"Shouldn't you be with them? Figuring this all out?"
Weller froze. She was right, of course. He should be at the NYO, working on her case. Under no circumstance was his current behaviour appropriate.
Instantly he felt called out; completely exposed. The woman was looking at him with an unreadable expression, somewhere between a frown and a smirk. Part of him thought she was poking fun at him while the other part thought she was being seriously critical about his dedication to solving her case.
He was still speechless and trying to come up with a suitable answer when she surprised him yet again by edging further into him and tentatively resting her head against his shoulder.
"Don't look so worried. I was just kidding," she said.
"I know you didn't have to take me out here, I'm sure you have a million things to do. But thank you, this is exactly what I needed."
The look of gratefulness on her face was Kurt Weller fuel. He was a fixer; and at that moment there was absolutely nothing else he wanted to fix.
So, even if he hadn't found out anything about who she was, at least she was standing by the waterside, joking with him and no longer looking so terrified. In that way, he'd already won the day.
"I know I'm just another stranger but if there's anything you need I'm here for you," he said.
Again she didn't say anything for awhile, but seemed happy to just stand there, leaning against him. Then, just as he thought that she was done talking, she looked up at him with serious eyes.
"You're not a stranger. You're the lead agent on my case," she said thoughtfully.
"And we went for a walk together the day we met."
That earned her a full on grin, one that Kurt didn't see coming at at all. The firecracker that erupted in his chest from her comment was especially very unlike himself, far more emotional than he was used to feeling.
Which again told him that the situation was off, that he was acting bizarrely. But what was worse, he didn't care. Despite everything, Weller looked down at the woman in his arms and knew that he was exactly where he needed to be.

About My OCs (Colby and Jack)
Tumblr media
This is my fantasy, so bear with me here.
Colby Roberts
Tumblr media
“Colby... I can’t do this...” - me, a few weeks after we have an argument
“I still want you anyway... because I’m madly in love with you...” - Colby
For those who don’t know, Colby is Jack’s son, so if you wonder where he gets those looks from, here’s my answer.
Colby was born to a extremely wealthy heiress, who’s father was practically unknown because, he just vanished off the face of the earth, and since he was born to a wealthy family, it didn’t take long before he starting falling into the wrong crowd... with his drug habits starting to catch up at his adult years. His drug habit, oddly enough, didn’t affect him as much as the doctors thought - because they were thinking, surely, he’d have either died from an overdose, or somehow turned into a vegetable. But yet, that didn’t happen. And there was nothing conclusive with his bloodwork. Since he was filed on charges, they gave him two options (which, as far as I can tell, seem to be the mother’s choices) - either rot in prison for possession, or go into the military.
You can pretty much tell which option he went for.
Colby enlisted at the military, which at 18... he had plenty of time to start shaping his body - and he was a genius too. His scores were practically almost record breaking - considering the record was from 16 years ago! Colby is an expert tactician, and when you added hand-to-hand combat training plus all the muscle he gained from training... he was practically a Spartan.
During his time, he met Randy when, by chance, he was a captain - and Randal was a second lieutenant. In fact, Colby and Randal felt something between them. In fact, at one point, Colby once told me that if you put him and Randal in a room all alone at some point during the night, you might be able to hear Randy’s pleasuring at taking Colby on. However, it wasn’t just at a relationship level - they really were an unstoppable force.
Rather disappointingly, Colby resigned from the military after serving 8 years - and ended up heading back to Riverview... and somehow, relapsing again.
A year later, Colby ended up in my care as I was his sober companion after his relapse, and to be honest, when I met the guy, he was honestly more intimidating than I ever imagined. Sort of like the Hulk, but scaled down, and human.
To be completely honest, the first 2 weeks, he had been avoiding me since he insisted he didn’t need my help - but I stayed - because I wanted to get him to open up about himself. But - when you live with a 230+ lb man, you’d kind of want to stay out of his way when he simply won’t budge. Didn’t stop me from trying though. Sure enough, I gradually got him to be able to quietly strum his six-string guitar on the occasional night.
Our relationship took a little bit of an unexpected leap, because one night, Colby was invited to the family dinner, and this being a part where the father walked out on him... it lead to them being quite verbally abusive to him about it. Of course, we walked out and headed home with them still being pretty abusive... and hearing his mental health shattering into a million pieces. By that time though, I’d been his companion for what was stipulated, but because I didn’t want to leave him in that state, tried to renew the contract.
The lawyer said... no. So I ended up lying much to the bemusement of my therapist.
I was wondering if I was going to get away with it when I still accompanied him to his musical composition job (guitars and pianos are his favourite) but I had to remind him at the end of the day that I still was his sober companion.
“Like hell you are.” Colby shouted. “You sure as hell haven’t been for at least a few weeks.” Much to my shock, I thought I had had it for a moment.
A sigh came from him shortly after. “I knew you lied when I called her lawyer the next day after you said he had extended the contract.”
I tried to figure out what I was going to say next. “Colby, I...”
“I’m not angry over this.” Colby inched forward towards me to corner me between him and a wall. “I’m actually quite touched... since you saw the state that I was in after that... so for a while after that I adopted a more... aggressive mood.”
I was actually frozen stiff because he had cornered me between him and the wall with both bulging arms at the side of me.
“Until I found out you had been lying last week, I started to pull you along a little to see if you would realise that I was fine and moved on... but instead... you stayed. Didn’t occur to me that at the same time you were also having feelings for me... and I was still in denial until I gave into your feelings...”
Colby gradually moved his left hand off the wall and started feeling my back down.
“So... I want to offer you something... you stay with me... and we’ll see where our feelings for each other go... sound good?” Colby whispered.
At this point, I could hardly control myself, and Colby knew I was begging to be given the treatment that I’ve sorely needed. I was still gay at that time, but my love life had gone nowhere... and I was fidgeting a little because this was practically a dream come true for me.
“I’ll take that as a yes...” Colby later leaned in and gave me a rather sloppy lick on my face. And the next thing I knew he had leaned even closer to start making out with me.
“Why did you think I was this aggressive with you... you are so damn cute...”
After work, we gradually continued to have feelings for each other much to the disgust from my classmates with that lick.
So, we dated, we laughed, we cuddled, we had our idea of hunter and prey... which I have to say, was one of the very sexual relieving moments we’ve had together. When that happened, Colby flew up the ladder to being a hit movie director, and I wasn’t trailing far behind with my (slightly stalled) career in journalism as I was being promoted, and transferred to Lucky Palms.
Sounds perfect, you might think. Actually, in a way, it wasn’t. Because Randy showed up asking for Colby. More on that in his side of the story.
Jack Winter
Tumblr media
“I wasn’t expecting myself to be this... swept away with you.” - Jack, slowly leaning into me for a spot where he has the advantage on me
“Yet... here you are, wanting me as much as everyone else we know.” - me, trying to find a way for him to stop but realising I’m going to be doomed
With Jack, complications turn into one story, so trying to analyse him is almost easier said than done - simply because: he’s a pure-bred demon.
How demons work in my world, is that demons are in a world separate to ours - they have their own world much like fantasies. How they go into human bodies is through the sort of capsule that is a remote link to a human body. Some demons don’t use the bodies at all because they’re more nature demons, but the human demons - those are a different story. Jack is the latter, and one of the more emotionally manipulative kind. It works like this: he takes a body - steps on anyone’s toes and makes them make terrible decisions or suffer a embarrassing (but not fatal - he’s not that cruel) fate. All targets are random, so one day, a wealthy bachelor might suffer an a problem one day, and then the next, it could be someone like me.
When Jack just “appeared” (what Randy and I joke about how he was created), he was one hell of a rollercoaster to deal with - he was having a hellva lot of fun slowly manipulating people into doing stuff they couldn’t realise. A hell of a time for him, after all, with all the powers he had access to, the fun was going to keep rolling like a Bugatti Chiron with an endless supply of fuel. You wouldn’t run out of it, you’d keep going.
That changed when Jack met Colby’s mother - when Jack was about to ensnare his powers on her, for some reason, she fell in love with her. Why that happened, we may never know, but the next morning, she saw a gorgeous hunk of a man sitting at her desk - which took some explaining on Jack’s part (that old charmer) to what was going on. Thankfully, she decided to not alert anyone, and allowed him to stay in her house - and getting to know that mysterious man who had suddenly appeared. Over that time, they both got together, had long walks, and spent a few days being intimate with each other - and satisfying each other as well. The only people who knew the truth about Jack were; Colby’s mother, the staff at the house, and a lawyer handling her estate. The romance didn’t last as long as she hoped - because one day, Jack was summoned to go back into the demon world, much to her sadness (the one time she was in complete love, according to Jack). Until she was unwell one morning and found out she was pregnant - and decided to keep the baby.
So 30 plus years later, when she died, he came back hoping to continue everything... instead, she died of an untreatable cancer tumor... with a son that had grown up to be living in Lucky Palms after moving from Riverview. The lawyer had a moment alone and discussed what had happened in those 30 years - her death, and her son... as well as some last letters to him about getting him to “finish what she started.” With that said, Jack had no idea what to do on the day he knocked on the Lucky Palms door - at that time, we were just engaged, and I was quite shocked when Jack said he was Colby’s father even though he looked quite young.
Obviously, it wasn’t without it’s shortcomings. Since Colby practically had so many questions, it really did beg the question... who was this person who looked, in age, practically close to a point where it wouldn’t make any sense?
So, at dinner, the three of us (in a rather tense manner) had dinner that I had decided to cook. While we were discussing it, we started to notice a few similarities in habits and preferences. Except on Jack’s side, they were much more prominent when he managed to somehow tempt me to get close to him.
When he was planning on spending the night in Randy’s old room (which was empty since at the time, Deacon and Randy were experimenting with sleeping together), Jack started to tempt himself with me. He started to get closer and closer, and before we knew it, Jack had me pinned on the bed and began his near identical and significantly rougher (sloppier kisses, sloppier licks and so on) but then, he also backed off thankfully 10 seconds before Colby walked in. Before you asked, I did tell Colby about the similar interactions he did in that one move, but obviously, we were still skeptical. So, with Jack’s permission, we managed to withdraw blood from him and using Adam’s futuristic DNA sequencer, managed to get a father-son match with Jack and Colby.
Before you asked how the two finally settled their differences (and have Colby get all the questions he needed), Deacon suggested we put them in a rage room to settle it. Sure enough, I had to pay for damages, because, well, they did put a “few” holes in the wall when they were done. And a new set of clothes.

howdy, saw u we're having tech difficulties sorry abt that! i got you a coffee the other day my name is carson, 22 October, 2003 in Winchester, VA, USA @ 2:43 PM !
Hi!
Thank you for buying me this delicious hot beverage. I drank black coffee with rice milk while writing your interpretation. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I did writing! I listened to Leonard Cohen while writing your interpretation. ;)
Your dominant planets are: 1. Uranus, 2. Mars and 3. Pluto. Your dominant signs are: 1. Aquarius, 2. Scorpio and 3. Aries. Your main mode is Fixed. You are Air dominant.
FAMILY, SIBLINGS, EARLY LIFE
You have Taurus IC. You are a private person and you might not post much on social media or that often. Only your family and really close friends know what you value, what you like and desire. You have most of your 4th house is Gemini. Your parents emphasized communication and conversation in your early life. Maybe you learnt how to be polite, well mannered early on. You probably liked to read a lot of books or your parents often read to you. There might have been gossiping in your family or around your family. You talked a lot. You might have learnt how to read and speak early on. If you have any siblings, they are Aries or Taurus. Those can be your cousins, close friends from elementary and high school or other family relatives. Even some of your neighbours can be those signs. In your elementary and high school years you were steady fast. You liked learning and doing homework, studying at your own pace and step by step. You didn’t like big chunks of information at once since it overwhelmed you. You have Virgo Moon in the 8th house. You might have a very deep, complex and intense bond with your mother. She can be over loving, overbearing at times (almost to the point of suffocating you), but she really loves you. She is a perfectionist and can be over critical over you at times too. She is an organised lady, who likes cleanliness. You have Libra Sun in the 9th house. Your father influenced you in a way to go after your wants and desires in life and really push you to establish yourself. He probably knows people from all walks of life and with different backgrounds due to Sun trine Uranus. He is freedom loving, adventurous and polite. He is quite diplomatic. He might have worked abroad, with foreigners or foreign people at a certain point in life. Or he works in the educational field. He might even be a preacher! Or he works in a field where there is some sort of art involved, building or designing. Or even law!
PARTNERSHIPS AND FRIENDSHIPS
Your friends are Gemini, Cancer, Sagittarius, Scorpio and Capricorn. In your romantic relationships you attract Cancer, Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Sagittarius and Libra. You have Scorpio Venus in the 9th house. You attract a lot of people who are intense, deep thinkers, mysterious and secretive, yet they like their own personal space, freedom and can be flighty. They are loyal and passionate. They like exchanging ideas, opinions, views on life with you. You have Pisces Mars in the 1st house. This is how you approach your crush, how you take action and sometimes how you act in love. You are passive, you prefer someone else approaching you. Though, you are not scared of asserting yourself. You might be torn between you taking the first step or let someone else do it. People would sometimes be scared of your intensity if you approach them first. It’s like you’re brave, determined and know exactly what you like. You like artistic people, who also have a knack for business and are still kind, compassionate and loving. You have Leo Descendant. You might project a proud image onto others. Or others can see you like that sometimes. In love you could attract egotistical, proud, generous, childlike people, who have good humour. You have Venus sextile Jupiter. When you’re in love, you might overlove and be very generous with your time, affection, money and attention. Venus trine Saturn. You like to provide for others, but you want the same in return. You like to be babied from time to time too. You like reliable, responsible, loyal people. You might date someone who is older or younger than your own age. And you have Venus square Neptune. You might attract people who need “healing” or can have even certain emotional or mental difficulties or some repressed feelings. You can idealize them or think that your love might somehow “heal” them. You love people unconditionally and have a lot of universal love for others.
CAREER, PROFESSIONAL LIFE, PUBLIC IMAGE
You have Sun conjunct Mercury. This is a writer’s placement! You could do well in publishing, marketing and any communication field, even journalism. You are very proud of your mind and intelligence, so your mind and ego is directly tied. You like others praising you for your way of thinking and how your “mind” works. In fact you might have broken off a relationship, because you didn’t like “how their mind works” or what their thinking process is. You also know how to compliment people and know just the right words to appeal to them! You have Saturn in the 6th house. You might have certain difficulties with your coworker in your day to day life. Even some difficulties with other authority figures, such as parents, teachers, professors. This takes a great tool on your physical and mental health. You might have a set routine or you don’t like changing it often. You don’t like any disruption or changes in your day-to-day life. Your 6th house is in Cancer and Leo. Even though you have Pisces on the first, you have a bit of Leo in the 6th house. This indicates that you are a proud coworker. You might even talk in a condescending voice sometimes or boss other people around. You like to be the one in charge. But you still do it in a diplomatic way due to so much Libra energy. With Cancer here, you need a lot of emotional connection to your work. Your day job needs to be emotionally fulfilling for you. You have Taurus North Node in the 3rd house. This indicates your life purpose and what you are here to learn in this lifetime. You need to learn how to stabilize and ground yourself. How to set your own value system. With 3rd house you might end up being a writer or a speaker or somehow work with communication and even foreign languages. With Aries in the 2nd and Capricorn Chiron you might not like the 9 to 5 job and would benefit from being your own boss and be self employed at certain points in your life. You also need to learn a steady, step by step approach to dealings with 3rd house, such as your relationship with your siblings, family relatives, neighbours, close friends, communication, talking, writing and speaking. You have Scorpio MC. Like I mentioned previously, you are a private person, general public, people on social media, your boss, teacher, mentors don’t know much about your personal life. You view this aspect as very private and intimate, so you don’t discuss it much. But most of your 10th house is already in Sagittarius. You might be seen as bluntly honest sometimes or like a bit of a preacher. You like to fight for truth and freedom. You might post or talk about religious, culture, current affairs or travelling on social media or when you’re in public settings. You have Sagittarius Pluto in the 11th house. You have intense hopes, wishes and desires for the future. To the point sometimes even scares you a bit. You might dream of “freedom” in whichever form this comes for you, either financial freedom, travelling or expanding your mind and horizon. You might even like the idea of a bit more unconventional, spiritual, “boho” lifestyle.
ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS You have Chiron in Capricorn in the 12th house. There is a wound when it comes to your career. And it is connected with your Saturn in the 6th house. You might not like working for others or in a team. You might dislike the dread of a daily grind. You might even suffer health issues because of your job and dislike of the working environment! You have Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter currently transiting your 12th house. This means you might have had trouble sleeping or you reconsidered and evaluated endings, got some closure with certain topics, someone might have even died in your circle of acquaintances. You might find yourself thinking more about spirituality, endings, closures, suffering, sadness, grieff. You might isolate more at this time (not just due to corona, since the transit is around 1 and a half to two years long). You might like to spend more time on your solitary hobbies or work alone. You could also be dealing with forgiveness a lot at this time. You might find it harder to take action and be assertive. It’s like you’re more passive. You have Sagittarius Part of Fortune in the 11th house. Your friends, friend circle can benefit you too! You might learn through them a lot or expand your understanding and knowledge. You might like to travel with your friends often! You have Taurus Lilith in the 4th house. Here is where your “bad” side shows. You might be overindulging, a bit lazy and idle at home. You might be also more stubborn, highly opinionated at home or with your family members. You have Scorpio Juno in the 10th house. This indicates your ideal soulmate or ideal partner, be it platonic or romantic. They need to be intense, mysterious, hard to figure out, reliable, loyal, hard workers, responsible. They need to have deep desires and aspirations and goals. They need to be ambitious. You have Cancer Ceres in the 6th house. This represents how you wish to be nurtured and how you nurture others. You like to feed others or share food with them and really listen to them. You might like small acts of kindness and do little errands for them. You like to be appreciated and respected. You might like to form family-like bonds with others.

The 8th House and Resources, Sharing, Giving
We are going to talk about the 8th House and giving and sharing. Many times people concentrate on the physical realm with this but I want to remind people that the 8th also deals with intimacy and emotional bonding, here is where sharing and giving is also very important. The 8th encompasses both the trope of “a partner’s wealth” or “joint finances” as well as giving and sharing on deeper levels. Also I want to take a second to talk about “magnetism”. You see a lot of people talking about the 8th house like it is ALL about ATTRACTION. When really it goes back to the core theme of merging, connection, bonds, sharing. This house is about intimacy and while in synastry it does point to areas of great magnetism, the house on its own is more about reading/using it to find out what type of bond people can create rather than just being mysteriously pulled to each other.
Aries in the 8th: We start with a placement that tends to be more self-oriented, even when talking about shared resources. In terms of a partner’s resources or family - they have good luck with attracting a partner that will give to them, maybe provide for them. This is looked at in a few ways. 1. You will see references to Aries in the 8th almost “taking” these resources. Demanding it from a loved one, because it is the right thing to do or it is their privilege.  2. Aries risk-taking trait is seen in being brave with joint finances or sharing property with others. 3. The leading side of Aries can be seen taking the lead on family resources or even a community or company. Resources are likely distributed to the underdog or underprivileged. The idea of gambling away resources can exist here. Opportunities to give or receive resources tend to be plentiful for this individual. In terms of sharing and giving, this person tends to be more about what they can receive from others. BUT they can share themselves passionately and impulsively, being open with what they have to give.
Taurus in the 8th: Possession, owning, territory - associations with Taurus. In the 8th House in terms of resources we see someone who can get possessive over what should be shared. When making decisions on sharing or distributing they tend to be practical. The gathering or collecting side of Taurus can be seen here as someone who intentionally is on the look out for resources in others.  This can extend to “emotional resources”. Meaning they may seek out people to depend on or they may seek out people who give them comfort or make them feel confident. When it comes to resources in general, whether tangible or not, lines can be blurred between what is shared or what is theirs, mostly due to their desire for security and a possible nature to hoard or to own. They are cautious in what they give to others. They can fall into “giving” in a material sense more than emotional sometimes.
Gemini in the 8th: Possibly scattered with shared resources and joint finances. There is a superficial or possibly detached approach going about sharing. Here is a person who may underestimate how much depth and responsibility there is in sharing resources, money, property, etc  With their open mind and objective nature this person can be altruistic towards giving and sharing. This person may swing back and forth from being overly concerned about frivolous resources to being progressive and open about sharing their stuff, themselves, and even more so their wisdom or knowledge.  When I say superficial in terms of sharing I mean they get hung up on the distribution of gifts or compliments among friends or always seeing affection or praise as a game or competition with a lover. When Gemini in this house “shares” it is likely sharing what they know or sharing their mind more than anything.
Cancer in the 8th: Here is a cautious person in terms of sharing, can be practical towards joint finances, and they approach sharing very emotionally. When they do “share” they tend to really share themselves - their insecurities, their wants, their deepest thoughts and feelings. In terms of what is shared there is a big emphasis on inheritance. Meaning this person may have to share a lot due to inheritance or because of their own passing their resources, even their influence is most impactful on heirs/next of kin. What is to be obtained and what is most useful to them for growth may mostly come from an inheritance of some sort. A possessiveness and jealousy can exist for this person towards giving or what might be shared.
Leo in the 8th: This can indicate a very generous person both in the tangible or within intimacy. Not only do they give material goods or affection, but creative energy as well. Due to Fire’s connection with opportunity this can be seen as a “lucky” placement for inheritance or joint finances. Leo is connected to groups and leadership. Here is one who may take charge of distributing resources or making big decisions financially for a group or for inheritances. Will give in a big way but expects others to return the favor. May refuse to share or more likely accept what is given to them out of pride. May pass on or inherit things that give them authority/power. Transparency about what is being given or divided is important to them.
Virgo in the 8th: We see someone who likely “gives themselves” to others through service or help. However this can get quite physical due to some of Virgos’ themes. Giving themselves to others at times can really mean surrendering to physical intimacy. In terms of sharing and shared resources, Virgo wants to be fair but can sometimes fall into being overly practical or logical in how they give, share, and divide, sometimes ignoring the feelings or sentiments of others. They want clear communication and boundaries when it comes to shared resources, finances, dept, etc. Must be careful of being overly materialistic or picky when it comes to approaching shared resources.
Libra in the 8th: Here is a placement that is all about sharing. Sharing is usually among partners, between two people. Although there is a sense of teamwork and fellowship that this person holds in high regards. When giving or giving themselves they tend to “give” in forms of cooperation, adaptability, peace making, networking, or admiration. There can be idealism towards joint finances or shared resources. This person demands fairness and is objective towards distribution. They can fear sharing their flaws or hidden self, sometimes avoiding intense intimacy.
Scorpio in the 8th: Being decisive and controlling about what is shared can happen. The desire to master, understand, and to take hold of what is happening in this house exist. When they give themselves they do give fully and ardently. They honestly sacrifice themselves in many ways in terms of what they give to another. Desire, power, control, obsession, these traits of Scorpio can be roadblocks or even paths to destruction in sharing and bonding. Here we see someone willing to give it all but needs to learn sharing is also about receiving and not being able to control what is given and sometimes what is taken.
Sagittarius in the 8th: There is a giving of optimism and trust. This person has a lot of faith in others and their ability to give or share. We see someone who can run into disappointment or be led into harm at times because of this. Financially they can lack focus or be too risky. This is the same for resources in the material world. There is an association with “luck” or positivity towards what is going on in the 8th. This is someone who can over share or over promise. There can also be a firm philosophy they follow in terms of joint finances, opening up intimately, or approaching shared resources.
*Sagittarius and Gemini in this house are both associated with the possibility of persuading others to share or to give them resources. They can also talk their way out of debt or promises.
Capricorn in the 8th: There is a focus on defining what is theirs and what is others. We see some control issues regarding what is shared and what is given. Providing is a theme and might be what they “give” the most of. They give to others through responsibility, working, giving purpose. They can be restrictive of what they give of themselves, causing limitations to intimacy.  Fear and loss can create issues of security in this house. Laws getting in the way or even saving them somehow is associated - especially when taking about things such as inheritances.
Aquarius in the 8th: Can be opinionated or even philosophically fixed in how resources should be shared or about wealth. There is certainly a part of them that might not care about wealth or possessions at all. They are likely to donate an inheritance or on another spectrum - undervalue shared resources and therefore give things away that isn’t always helpful or isn’t well understood by receivers. In terms of sharing and “shared resources” we see someone who is more about shared values in a community or the collective. What they share is usually on a bigger scale with ideas, inventions, innovation, or change. In a more intimate setting they give new ideas and perspectives. They may also give freedom or liberation in some way.
Pisces in the 8th: A placement that isn’t always wrapped up in money or things. When it comes to shared resources it is more about shared feelings or shared faith. Giving to them is more along the terms of sacrifice, believing they need to truly give it all to be able to connect.. A manipulative side can come out in terms of joint finances or gaining resources. A spiritual view can also change how they give, take, or share. There is fear of being left out as well as owing someone something. Guilt can surround inheritances or shared resources too.
Planets
Sun in the 8th: Ego and identity is shared above all else. This can be looked at in many different ways. On one end there are times they sacrifice the self, bend or mold the identity as a way of giving to others. This can also mean someone who values pride and ego above sharing and intimacy. May also "share" or take on financial debt, responsibility, etc. to become the "hero", to become the "strong one" or "responsible one", or to bolster their ego.
Moon in the 8th: Safety, security, comfort - here is what is wrapped in shared resources. This person could become cautious about sharing or try to take more than their share due to these needs. Things are taken personally in terms of sharing, both physical or emotional. Dependency is a big theme here. Those with Moon in the 8th may become very familiar with shared debt, resources, responsibilities, and care due to co-dependent relationships. This person may be the one in charge of shared resources too, giving a part of them or giving financially to support others. Reflecting a partner, friend, or family member's way of connecting is associated. What is being "shared" might be a mirror to what another person is sharing with them.
Mercury in the 8th: Inconsistencies and flightiness can exist towards sharing. The trickster stereotype can come up here in "tricking" people into giving them something or finding loopholes in laws. Closeness tends to be created through communication. This is a person who can carry lessons in this area of life and share them. What they say tends to come back to haunt them or help them. Through thought and sharing information is where they connect and how what is given back to them will manifest/form.
Venus in the 8th: There is an inclination to easily share with others. In fact sharing and giving may be one of the main ways they show affection, especially when it comes to buying things for others. Balance, harmony, fairness - these are all things they desire in terms of connecting and sharing. There will be plenty of lessons on how to balance and get a hold of "give and take" in emotional bonds. Venus in the 8th is very well known for marrying into wealth, status, or prosperity. There is a warning of "marrying" into other associations of the 8th house with other people such as obsession, fear, or secrecy/hidden taboos. Venus in the 8th can be vulnerable to being used or tricked by others for their resources. Venus is looking to expand their awareness, to trust, to bond, to merge through relationships and is doing so in a house that is also known for loss and crisis.
Mars in the 8th: Here we see someone who is hesitant to share and to give. They want to take complete control over their destiny and can find it hard to share this mission with others. Intimacy can be met with passion and honesty but they want to take what they believe is rightfully theirs. This is an independent person who takes what is given to them and benefits from it right away or ensures that the property, wealth, or even a secret is for them and them alone. There is an association with fighting for resources or inheritance. Using shared resources to settle a fight can also happen. They may use physical intimacy to gain. A lot of energy can be burning in this area of life.
Jupiter in the 8th: Much like Sagittarius, this indicates luck and prosperity towards inheritances and what is given or shared. This tends to be a generous person and the more they give, the more they are likely to get back. We see a lot of Jupiter's connection with abundance in the 8th. Be careful of over indulging in more heavier emotions of the house, leading to heated obsession. Bonding tends to come from sharing beliefs, ideas, and dreams. There needs to be a spiritual connection between those they get close to or share with or a lively intellectual connection.
Saturn in the 8th: Here is someone who could try to take control or authority over shared resources or inheritances. Inheriting something or somehow becoming in charge of shared resources can become a burden or challenge for them. Struggles also tend to pop up whenever they want to connect with others. Life might always seem to get in the way of their attempt at intimacy. Strong intimacy may be found later in life. There is a big lesson on self-reliance and learning to let go. Giving may need to be much more internal and focused on giving unhealthy attachments or values away. There is a feel of "helping themselves" when ti comes to gaining resources or even closeness with others.
Uranus in the 8th: Possibly radical in their ideas towards intimacy, sharing, giving, and what is shared among family or businesses. Unexpected inheritances or even emotional bonds is associated. In the material realm beware of things getting lost, stolen, or borrowed and never returned. This stems from the unpredictability of Uranus. A large focus on the collective could exist. They make look at "sharing" and "connecting" on a much larger scale than just one-on-one. Healthy detachment and accepting change as a constant are very important lessons and themes for someone with this placement.
Neptune in the 8th: Many tend to talk about deception, illusions, and manipulation towards resources, intimacy, and inheritances. Before getting worried that you are going to be tricked know Neptune can indicate strong intuition and receptiveness towards the areas in the 8th. One might be able to quickly and easily pick up on others' bad intentions. They can be disconnected from the material side of the house. Intimacy must feel spiritual to them. They give their energy and feelings to others. Giving and having something taken from them can be blurred.
Pluto in the 8th: Inheritances and/or intimacy tends to signal a new door, a new life for them. They give with intimacy but also sometimes they may unintentionally give the darker side of their personality. Obsession and focus on what other's have can manifest. Intuition is heightened but may be tied to a manipulative side. They may use shared resources or giving and taking in plays for power. This person can both boost as well as drain other's energy - giving and taking energy as part of how they "give, connect". They can play off other's desires but also fulfill them. There is no fear of closeness, in fact there is a huge drive for it. Merging with another is an intense but natural feeling. They are in tune with the complexities of this house. They give to others emotions and attachment.

bts astro soulmate reading | for mary
sign: cancer sun | pisces moon | virgo rising
lover: min yoongi | soulmate: kim taehyung
This reading is for Mary, a fellow NYC moot and a huge fan of our sunny J-Hope & Taehyung’s general gorgeousness. I had a lot of fun with this one as I am on a huge Taegi kick right now, so I hope you enjoy <3
Tumblr media
Still waters run deep for you, sensitive Cancer. With your sun in Cancer, your super power is intuition. Your strength comes in your emotional intelligence, which you are tapped into at all times. This is only intensified by your Pisces moon, which allows you to feel things on a deeper level than most people. Your compassionate, empathetic nature is felt and appreciated by others, who often seek you out for advice or a shoulder to lean on. You have a strong tendency to get swept up in your emotions and impressions, longing to retreat into your fantasy world and away from the harsh realities of daily life. Luckily, you are blessed with a sharp Virgo rising, which you are allows you to harness your emotions and and utilize them to problem-solve and move things forward. Your reserved and stoic Virgo rising is your outward facing persona, protecting the vast tenderness nestled just beneath. In this way, you sort of have the best of both the dreamy, fantastical world of your mind and the sound, earthly realm which you physically live.
More than anything, you want emotional security and stability in your relationships, whether professional, platonic or romantic. Your colleagues know you as the get-things-done team player, which means you are highly valued in the workplace. In your intimate relationships, you find balance in both giving and receiving care, and you are exceptionally good at both. In the past, you may have had a fondness for fuckboys in the past (Aries and Libra - here’s looking at you!) who knew how to fuck you but not treat you well. As you get older you truly seek that healthy balance of all things in your romantic relationships, understanding that your emotional range is a gift to be admired, not taken advantage of. While you are certainly attracted to those brooding artist creative types, typically try to stay away from people who cannot give you that sense of emotional security in the long term.
When you meet Min Yoongi at an intimate listening event, his eyes dark eyes fixed as he sips his whiskey, you initially brush him off as just another work-obsessed idol fuckboy rapper your friends warned you about. Your reluctance quickly disappears after he engages you in conversation, pleasantly surprised by Yoongi’s genuine nature and way with words which are simple and deliberate yet profound. A true Pisces with a moon in Virgo, Yoongi has an air of mystery alongside with a sense of both intensity and calm - an intoxicating combination draws you in. There is no doubting your mutual attraction - he can see right through you to your natural delicate inner world. He is one of the few in the zodiac who can match your emotional intelligence, and in that moment he sees everything that you want. By the end of your conversation, you are buzzing with arousal - and not just because of the drinks. You can practically feel his smirk on your body as you add your number to his contacts before he slinks away backstage.
The relationship you have with Yoongi is, at its core, purely emotional and highly physical. It is not even a full month before the initial hardness of your persona melts away and you’re sneaking out of the office to spend time with him. Spreadsheets and menial work tasks seem dull in comparison to evenings spent in the studio with Yoongi fucking you in his work chair. You tend to be relatively traditional in bed, sticking to what you know works and works well, but Yoongi makes sense an almost spiritual endeavor. Through his unabashed sensuality and love for pleasure he is able to bring out an even deeper, kinkier side of you that you haven’t previously explored. You are not the biggest fan of casual relationships, but with him you feel a sense of trust that allows you to fully let go and access a different side of yourself. Only Yoongi could have you acting out of character and answering 1am texts. I have been thinking about you all day. Come to the studio.
Beyond the physical, you two connect emotionally and fall for the beauty of each others’ minds. The Pisces in him all at once sentimental, artistic and sincere in his approach to life and how he thinks about the world. A broad thinker, he does not shy away from impassioned on social justice, philosophy, and society at large - and in being with him, your entire worldview expands, too. But what hooks you is how this operates in tandem with his Aries in Venus, which makes him direct, purposeful and in-charge. This is reflected in his lyricism and music, which he shares with you during long weekend afternoons and late nights in bed. Though you meet Yoongi at a point in his life where he is more career-focused, he proves to be the ultimate lover during this time: providing the hot sex and deep compatibility you crave from a partner. Despite the relationship fizzling out over time, you are happy to know you can look back on this time as a positive experience.
Months later, in a rush to work, you are more than embarrassed when you clumsily run into a stranger, effectively spilling your entire latte in the process. You are instantly reassured by the strikingly handsome face and warm smile that greets you as you scramble to your feet. There is a moment of pause, a purely magnetic pull between you - almost as if you have both met in another life. Tae is an old soul, with a wisdom way beyond his years, and your intuition signals that this is someone who you want to get to know. A prolonged conversation ensues, leading him to ask to see you again - perhaps when he is not covered in coffee. While he slow and trepidatious when picking romantic partners in the weeks that follow (you date for months before becoming official) by the time you do there has been a deep friendship there that is not easily broken. You grow to adore the complexity of his personality as he does yours. Both highly intelligent and social, you are drawn to Tae’s ability to charm a crowd or play it cool as he chooses to. In your relationship it play and create a fantasy for you to enjoy as easily as it is for him to focus on the little details, making sure your affairs are in order. This type of balance, which you try to achieve in your own life, is ultimately exactly what you need in a partner.
Existing on opposing sides of the zodiac, the term opposites attract aptly applies to your relationship with Taehyung. While he brings spontaneity, whimsy and structure to your world, you help him explore his tenderness and romantic side that exists beneath the surface. As many of his exes could tell you, one could spend a lifetime trying to crack Tae’s emotional code, and it is really only you that is up to the task. Initially, you definitely struggle with the nature of his lifestyle which takes him away from home fairly regularly, and as much as you admire his hustle you can’t help but long for more time with him. With his sun in Capricorn, Taehyung is a caretaker and he values steadfast, hard work. He is relentless in pursuit of his goals, and while he does not expect you to be the same, he does require an understanding of the grueling nature of his profession. This force you to build upon your independence,
You are far from neglected in this relationship, however. As noted, you need stability and that links directly to reassurance. While Tae is not always physically there, you know that he is always just a phone call away - anytime, anywhere. Thanks to his Aries moon and Sagittarius Jupiter, you also have a freak on your hands. While he absolutely wants to care for you and provide, that desire is not limited to the finances. While he is away often he makes sure to let him know you are on his mind. On your lengthy conversations over the phone, Tae can often sense the neediness in your voice, his tone lowering into a seductive growl as he coos into your ear. He adores making you beg for him as he riles you up from his hotel room, knowing exactly how to make you tick. When Tae takes the drivers seat, you are more than welcome to hop on for the ride. You could get off to his voice alone, your focus waning as he talks through all the ways he wishes he could touch and please you. Ah, so you miss me? Show me just how much, baby. I want to see you - all of you. Yes, he has a folder of your very tastefully taken nudes on his phone, and he adores every single one of them.
You enjoy following his pace, loving nothing more than reuniting after his days and weeks away for work. When he is home, you likely don’t leave for days on end - why would you, when you have everything you need right here? Your home, likely off in the countryside or by the sea, serves as safe haven for the two of you to retreat into at the end of a long day, a place where you can truly be yourselves. You and Tae are both homebodies at heart, and the sanctuary you establish together reflects your fondness for simple comforts and little luxuries. Equally kind and loyal with high moral capacities and integrity, your opposing traits overall complement each other in tandem with your shared fundamental characteristics. Together you act as true partners and best friends, the world you create together described as nothing short of magical.

14x02 - Episode Review - Without the Bells and Whistles
Bucklemming colour me impressed. This episode was a rich character driven story that left me full and satisfied and that is something I NEVER say about Bucklemming. I am amazed at how character focused these first two episodes are and truly hope that Dabb keeps up the momentum among writers. It is a change of pace with the show, and a change of focus, but it is WORKING so far.
As always with BL episodes there were some pacing issues and clunky dialogue in parts, but damn Dick Speight Jr is doing a fabulous job making the show look beautiful. As with 14x01 there is a lot to discuss, though I will try to be brief as I have a desperate need to write a separate post about Cas because my angel had me in tears in this episode and he needs an essay written about him in it.
Without further adieu, a long review is under the cut.
Michael and the Bait
Firstly Jensen did spectacularly in this episode. Such a drastic difference from 14x01 and I’m not sure if that’s because of Dick being a more hands on director or Jensen finally making a choice but he has settled into the role and plays Michael as a sinister psychopath on a mission. Michael has far more personality in this episode. He is more interesting to watch and managed to hold my attention unlike in 14x01. This makes me happy.
So what’s the deal guys? Michael spends this episode focusing on his monster experiments, brags about owning Dean, and then just leaves? Obviously that’s not what happened. The clue is in the key moments:
“Why be the hunted, when you can be the Hunter?”
“Rule no.1 you can’t have a trap without bait. Rule no.2 Once the trap has been sprung, you don’t need the bait anymore.”
Michael’s plan has been set in motion. The scene with the vamp girl being foreshadowing for the bigger picture, the bigger goal. Is Michael going after the hunters? If his plan is to make a world where Monsters are in charge, then the hunters need to be eradicated. It makes sense. It also therefore makes sense that you would set your sights on hunter central – the bunker. So Dean was let free so Michael could keep a watch on the bunker and it’s residents through him. As far as the rules go, if Dean is the bait, then releasing Dean is Michael not needing him anymore directly. The trap itself is the mystery, but I suspect we will find out more about exactly what Michael has done in 14x03, and it will most likely all have to do with this mysterious scar. I don’t think Michael is hiding “in” Dean so much as has an “open connection” to him where he could jump back in at any time without Dean’s consent. But we shall find out soon enough I’m sure.
Mary x Bobby
Obviously I support this ship, but I support it even more seeing as they have now paralleled Mobby to Destiel in two episodes in a row.
“My FBI is a little rusty”
This week, Bobby is our Cas mirror and Mary is our Dean. The fond pat on the back was the only hint we got that this was romantic, but like with 14x01, I ask you to try to find a single viewer who doesn’t see “something there” between this generic heterosexual couple? They are continuing to show their relationship through nothing BUT destiel parallels and it continues to delight me that this is now the shows go-to way to portray romance.
On a slight side note, Bobby being from an apocalypse AU world, he is the classic hunter right now who only sees in black and white, and the way he went for the vamp girl even after she tried to explain how she had never harmed a human. Bobby’s take on things this season will be an interesting one as it’s a continuous theme in this show to explore what makes a monster, something that dates back to John Winchester days (the ultimate black and white hunter). Also his understandable suspicions about angels making the dynamic with Cas a potentially interesting one. I wonder if this Bobby will ever utter the phrase “family don’t end with blood”?
Nick – It’s a chicken and egg situation
*sigh* I’m still not won over, and I probably won’t be. I expected this episode to be Nick heavy, and the flashbacks irked me because I simply don’t care. But I get that they would be necessary for a general audience. My lack of care is my own issue. It doesn’t matter how much Mark P acted his arse off trying to give us a decent performance (his first in years), I’m still not gonna be a fan. I’m still gonna skip those scenes in subsequent re-watches but that’s just me. I just don’t find it interesting even if he is being embedded into the story in a way that is paramount to the plot and the characters own struggles and development. I will acknowledge that importance and move on. I suppose the take away from Nick’s role in this episode when not specifically tied to Castiel (which I will yell about later) is whether or not he murdered his wife and child before he was possessed by Lucifer. The set up in the episode, the scripting and the direction implies that yes, he did. Though that could be a misdirection.
At the beginning of the episode, when he was asking Castiel what would possibly make him say yes to Lucifer to begin with, he had seemingly forgotten all about the brutal murder of his family, until Cas reminded him. Perhaps he had just repressed the trauma to the point that he had removed it from his mind to save himself further torment – but then murderers do that as much as grieving widows. Interestingly of all the things we learn about the murder case, we never actually learn Nick’s whereabouts, only from Castiel saying “you weren’t there” which is entirely unreliable because how would he have known other than from reading about the case himself? We know Nick’s neighbour is jumpy around him, so what did the neighbour actually see? We know his wife and child were killed with a hammer – an extremely intimate murder weapon and one that has been meta’d before in relation to Demon!Dean. Strangers don’t murder people with a hammer. It’s the weapon of crimes of passion, of extreme emotional connection to the victims. There is nothing cold and detached about a hammer. People who pick hammer’s to kill seek out the mess and extreme violence that they cause. It’s horrific and so much more gruesome than a knife or a gun. To kill an infant with a hammer? Even worse. To then see Nick murder the neighbour in the same violent attack, it is very easy to assume that he was the original killer as well.
If we assume Nick was the killer what does this mean for the canon of the show? Is this how Lucifer picks his vessels? What does this say about Sam? Who had to consume gallons of demon blood before he could contain Lucifer, Sam who had to be “corrupted” from a young age to prepare him? Was Nick already corrupted enough thanks to his apparent violent streak?
OR was this new kill with the hammer a result of what Cas called Lucifer’s “influence”, the “damage on his psyche”? Did Lucifer create the monster? Or was the monster already a part of Nick? If the season is going to continue the themes of previous seasons in exploring the shades of grey between men and monsters, then Nick is a key component. Is he the innocent victim of the devil? Or is he a tormented killer, who just so happened to get what he deserved? How would this affect the boys? If they are already struggling to find compassion towards a man wearing the face of their abuser, how does this potential new bit of information fit into that story? Perhaps, if Nick really is the killer, once this is found out it gives the writers an easy way to ultimately have him killed off without any guilt of tormenting and villainising an innocent. My money is actually on this theory. Plus it gives me a reason to continue hating him for the hell of it. But hey, that’s just me.
Castiel – The Angel with Too Much Heart
Oh Cas. What DON’T I have to say about you in this episode? I was amazed by Bucklemming’s dedication to Cas as a character and devotion to getting him right for once… I feel like I have slipped into an alternate universe because of this.
In 14x01 Cas was physically beaten, and in 14x02 he is emotionally beaten. I can’t help but wonder if this spells gloomy foreshadowing for Cas in the coming episodes. I want to write about this in depth as this episode is a fascinating insight into Cas’s psyche and his character arc going forward BUT I am leaving that for a separate post so in this review I will just sum it up:
Consider what happens to Cas in several points:
He overhears Bobby saying “angels ain’t known for their veracity” about Jo – that he doubts she was telling the truth. Cas shrugs it off and “tends to agree with him” but the awkwardness is obvious. This isn’t the Bobby who saw Cas as a son after all.
He is told he cannot go along on the mission to save Dean because his “angelic presence would be sensed by Michael” therefore his grace has rendered him useless.
He is made to relive his own possession by Lucifer “you were in a lot of pain, and Lucifer saw a vulnerability and he exploited it” though not talking about himself, the implication is obvious to anyone with a good memory of previous seasons.
He is made to relive another dark chapter of his history when his grace was stolen and he was human. Cas gives Jack a heartfelt positive speech that does show he is in a better place now “I had Sam and Dean, but I had something else that was extremely helpful. I had myself. Just the basic me, as Dean would say without all the bells and whistles” (which btw is so so good for human!cas meta) but the truth is actually far more depressing than Cas lets on, and the pain of what happened at that time, how Dean kicking him out of the bunker only encouraged the view that without his grace he was useless and unwanted by Dean – hence jilted lover.
He is surprised by Nick trying to “snap” him to oblivion which could easily be a trigger for Cas bearing in mind Lucifer has blown him up before via that very gesture.
He had to relive his “greatest regret” and what he did to Jimmy and his family. “You’re just a stone cold body snatcher, you’re no different from Lucifer” and you can SEE how much that pained him. How much Nick twisted the knife at those words.
He was told by Jack that he wanted to meet “The only real family that I have left” which is a slap in the face to poor Cas who sees Jack as part of his own family (and his reaction to that line is heart breaking).
Then the worst thing, he is made to face the possible conclusion that Dean may have to die to save the world. “Dean doesn’t matter” oh boy. No hate to Jack who doesn’t really have any real reason to put Dean ahead of the world, but to Cas, who is in love with him? Yeah that’s the killing blow right there.
Right at the end Jack says “Do you think he’d want it any other way?” and Cas KNOWS Dean wouldn’t, because they have been in that situation before as well, and when that happened Dean asked Cas to take him out. So he had to relive that painful moment as well. One that he refused, and because he refused to fight Dean, got beaten to a pulp after proclaiming that he would “be the one to watch you murder the world”. I have no doubt that Cas would still take that view over the alternative.
So Cas was emotionally beaten all episode. Forced to live through his worst moments and biggest regrets, and then have to face the fact that putting Dean above saving the world just isn’t right and he needs to prepare himself for that eventuality. If this episode and the last have told us anything, it’s that Cas is once again in a pretty low place. That much beating, both physical and emotional, are going to have an impact, and I am now really concerned about where Cas disappears to in episodes 4 to 6.
There is so much more to discuss, specifically in relation to what his view of his grace as “bells and whistles” could mean for human!Cas meta writers, not to mention the basic fact that any argument now about Cas hating being human just isn’t true. He still had himself, and he still believed in himself even when human, and even if he didn’t back then, he does now. He doesn’t see that period of his life as a total negative. That is HUGE.
Summary
A+ episode for Cas development. Amazing as that is being a bucklemming. It has also left us with lots to speculate and theorise which is always a great thing - keeping people tuning in. The Michael!Dean mystery as well as the Nick mystery probably won’t get revealed any time soon, but are enough to have people talking about them for a while.
Sam was still very much in Leader mode, though didn’t really get to do much this episode, but the way I see it, 14x01 was for Sam, 14x02 was for Cas, and I fully expect 14x03 to be a Dean heavy episode (which is fair since I am sure we are all missing him by now). Jack is also one to watch. His inner turmoil is textually acknowledged several times over and seeing as he is basically a mini Cas, the possibility that Jack could decide to do something drastic is probably very likely. I wonder if we will see Kelly’s parents again any time soon - I kinda hope not as I reckon that would spell certain doom for them.
It was a strong episode, and I enjoyed watching it (other than the Nick stuff). Probably my second favourite Bucklemming episode if I was to rank them all now which is very impressive (11x18 will always be top imo).
That’s all for now, as I am in the mood to write some Cas stuff. As always if you read this far kudos and please reblog and comment and send me asks as I love all that stuff. :D

Jughead wasn’t actually sure when he was going to die.
Maybe some believed in predestined deaths, or that you could be told the date or the way it might happen. That a psychic might be able to touch your hands and tell you the vision they got, fifty years in the future, of your last day. It wasn’t that Jughead didn’t believe in any of those things, but rather that he’d yet to meet someone in Riverdale who might have such amazing powers available to him. Let alone the fact that it was pricey to get this kind of information magically, he had heard that a good medium could charge hundreds of dollars per hour and it could take hours, and hours, to even get close to a real answer to your question. Seeing as Jughead was both poor and not yet deeply connected to the underworld that was lurking at the corners of his eyes, he had to find another way to plan for what was starting to feel a little inevitable.
He hadn’t stopped thinking about the forest. He hadn’t stopped obsessing over the blurry, too-dark photos that he took with his camera; the ones he had printed out so many times that he’d run out of ink. Taping the nine pages of A4 together to make a huge copy of it on the wall of his trailer; the nine glints in it’s black face enough to cause the hair on his arms to stand on end. The impossibly huge arms all clawing into the tree and breaking apart it’s branches with terrifying claws. Tapping his hands onto the walls, Jughead stares into the nine eyes and lets out a breath,
“What the hell is in the woods?” he asked himself aloud, as he had asked himself silently for days. A question that no research was going to answer, that nobody on a forum was going to be able to clear up. The only place he was going to find the answer was Fox Forest, and he knew that he would be risking his life going back.
Doing the responsible thing meant that he had to prepare for his life getting lost in the trees. It wasn’t that Jughead had a lot of things to bequeath out to his friends, but he liked to imagine that he would have things to say to them in the event of his passing. Certainly, he had some messages to pass onto Betty.
So many things, imagining his own death makes him sorry more than anything. Deeply regretful for not doing all the things he had been dreaming of then; he liked to imagine things like his wedding to Betty, how he might propose and what their first apartment might look like. If he had spent time picturing what their children could be like, he wasn’t ready to announce it to anyone; it was the kind of tender aspiration that he held close to his chest. Like watching-- no, getting to encourage Betty to become whatever she wanted to, knowing that she was the most capable of chasing after whatever she could possibly want. Imagining her having to let go of the intimate moments that he thought of as vital to who he was felt impossible; how bittersweet the hold of her hands around his waist while they rode on his motorcycle would become in the event of his death? How many tears would Betty have to weep when remembering their first time in the trailer?
Quickly sweetness became bitter in the face of something as horrific as his own death at the hands of some mystery lurking in the forest.
Mourning was something Jughead had understood. Twice in his life, first when he was young and his grandfather had died. A kindly old man with a heart of gold, though the materials hadn’t stopped the murmur from killing him eventually. Going from seeing his grandfather in the dusty amber living room of their farmhouse to seeing him in the coffin had been stark, and even the cartoonish blush of the funeral man’s cheeks wasn’t enough to soothe the ache in his chest. In their black funeral clothes and worried expressions both darkened, Betty and Archie at his side hadn’t truly like sympathy in losing one of the few people in his life who wasn’t constantly screaming.
Mourning his mother was another story, and feeling as if she was slowly killing his relationship with his sister was another. Leaving him alone in Riverdale had felt like a sword being weld in it all, and sometimes their wounds elt fatal to both mother and son.
Jughead having abandonment issues aside, he wanted to fill the spots that nobody had done for him. A will was nice, but an inheritance wouldn’t have had the same worth as a letter; so he was going to prepare for the worst. He had invested in a tripod for this.
Sitting in front of the camera, he clutched the beanie in his hands before glancing back to towards the threatening photo on the wall. His heart clutched for a moment, making him wince and look back towards the empty black space of the camera’s lens.
“There is a paper version of this left in the safe in the trailer, and I also put a PDF of this online...” Jughead trailed off, knowing he would spend time at his laptop editing this later, maybe retaping parts and making new edits... besides, rewriting the script as he went. “If you know me, you know I don’t actually have very much to give to anyone,”
Clearing his throat again, he straightened and looked to the camera. “But, anything I have I need to leave it to the only person in the world that I actually trust fully. Betty Cooper,” he said clearly.
“My motorbike, as she is the only person actually capable of keeping it running forever.” he started. “All my movies, as long as she promises to share them with Archie, because he really needs to see the Departed. Really dude? I thought you liked Leonardo DiCaprio.”
“Everything I ever recorded, I’ve started to record these video diaries for a while. I think it keeps my thoughts straight on everything we’ve seen.” Jughead was sure she would learn about them before she saw this. Or he was hoping he would, anyway.
“I also need you to be the one who takes everything I’ve written, mostly on my laptop but it’s in a few different places...” he trailed off. “I just need you to have it all, Betty. Every last scrap that I have, because if I’m not going to be there to protect you,” Choking, he stopped himself, the idea of losing his life and her doing the same in kind a fear he hadn’t known before. “So after you’ve read it and you know what to look for to keep yourself safe, I need you to burn it. Destroy every last shred and then just leave this entire thing, Fox Forest, the things that are happening, Riverdale’s goddamn secrets... just get out of here. California, New York, Japan... whatever Betty because you’re better than dying in the woods in Riverdale.”
“You can keep my novels, if you want. The ones I’ve been working on, they’re in a file marked on my desktop.” he added. “I have a couple movie posters from the drive-in, and a couple books but... not much else,” Listening to himself reiterate how little he had made him sigh, at least his scripts were relatively short right? “I hope you honestly never see this, babe.”
“You’ve got my heart too, though. Forever. I love you.” Hand on his chest, Jughead pulled the beanie off his head to pull it into his hands.
“I want to be buried in the hat, too.” he stipulated finally into the camera, in a kind of forced voice before collapsing back into the couch. Exhausted emotionally, a few moments passed before he crawled across the floor and shut off the camera; Jughead would need at least twenty more takes. Let alone the fact that he was going to do five more of these videos for each person.
So everyone knew where his things were going.
Picking up his phone, he texted his girlfriend.

Previously:
“I’ll call you before I leave town,” you promised, wishing there was more you could guarantee him.
“Okay,” he replied, ducking his head into the car for one last lingering kiss.
You pulled out of the parking lot and glanced in the rearview mirror to see Bucky still standing there as he raised a hand in goodbye. But it didn’t feel like a farewell this time. Somehow, it felt like only the beginning.
_____________
“I’m still not sold on the ending,” your agent stated as he dropped your manuscript on his desk with a thump. He sat back in his chair while drumming fingers on the desktop next to his computer. “Casting is almost finished, they start filming in two weeks, and I don’t have a finished script.”
“You DO have a finished script, Tony. Just not the conclusion you want. I tried other endings and none of them seemed genuine. This ending is the most organic and it’s where the characters took me. You know how it is, sometimes they have a mind of their own,” you replied with a shrug.
He narrowed his eyes, stroking his well-manicured goatee. “You know you sound like a crazy person when you talk like that, right?”
You laughed. “Not to my fellow writers.”
“Didn’t you get my notes on the last edits?”
You looked away from the screen, lost in thought. “Hmm…the last edit email I got was from Pepper and there was nothing in there about altering the ending,” you said with a smirk.
“That sneaky little…” he trailed off with a shake of his head.
Another chuckle escaped you. “She liked the ending, didn’t she? That’s why she didn’t add your note,” you smiled triumphantly.
Tony shifted in his chair, hesitating. “That remains irrelevant. I am your agent and I say…”
“Please trust me on this, Tony,” you said quickly, interrupting him. “Using the sort of ending you want would mean a total rewrite and it would suck because I would hate it. This script is important to me and I don’t want to ruin it just because you want a predictable ending all tied up in a bow,” you said with conviction, standing your ground.
He leveled you with a supposedly intimidating gaze before slipping off his tinted glasses and pinching the bridge of his nose. “Fine. You win. I’ll send it through to the director and producers, BUT…if they have a problem with it, we’re revisiting the subject,” he threatened through your iPad’s screen.
You beamed with a grateful smile. “You’re the best, you know that?”
“Yeah, whatever, just go be with your family. We’ll talk in a few days,” he replied, waving off your praise.
“Thanks, Tony,” you said, about to end the Skype call when Tony noticed something, leaning closer to the screen.
“Does Rogers know you had a poster of him in your room?” he teased, pointing to something behind you.
You paled slightly. “Goodbye, Tony,” you said forcefully before ending the call and setting your iPad aside.
Dropping your head in your hands, you slowly turned around and dared to look up only to see Steve Rogers in a superhero stance staring back at you. You’d forgotten all about it. Your childhood room was basically the same as it had been when you left two years ago. Now you were faced with Steve, along with several other movie star crushes plastered upon your walls, some of whom you had now met in person. Your first instinct was to be embarrassed, but honestly, they’d probably find it funny.
Glancing around the room, you took in all the small mementos and photos with memories tied to each one. It was a strange feeling to be back, but not a bad one. You never imagined you’d be having a conversation with your editor of two years in the room where back then your current reality was merely a pipe dream. It goes to show how far you had come.
Shaking your head, you climbed off the twin bed and got to your feet, straightening your skirt. You had settled on a black pencil skirt and a cream-colored blouse. Family was beginning to arrive, you gathered, hearing the murmurs of conversation below you. You stepped down the hall and descended the stairs to see faces turning your way. There were exclamations of “welcome home” and “you look great” and “I saw that movie of yours, it was way too violent”. You just smiled kindly and offered hugs. Family is family, no matter what.
Your mom came out of the kitchen and embraced you as well, even though she had seen you less than 20 minutes ago. Not that you minded. You were soaking up all the hugs and enjoying the limited time you had here. Heaven knows L.A. isn’t big on genuine hugs, more like handshakes or if you knew the person well, air kisses on each cheek.
Moving through the entryway, you finally made your way into the living room to see bouquets of flowers surrounding a large photo of your recently departed Uncle Nick. He may not have been a blood relative, but you still considered him family. He always had a bit of a scowl on his face, but deep down you knew he was a softy.
The funny thing was, no one really knew what he did for a living. He would disappear for months on end and then return as if nothing had happened, sometimes a little worse for the wear. He always came home with incredible stories to tell, though. Always telling harrowing tales of great adventures and daring escapes, as a child you hung on his every word. Now as an adult, you realized he may have been exaggerated slightly, but honestly, his stories were partly why you became obsessed with action films and story telling.
The biggest story of his life, though, was still a mystery. According to your mom, Uncle Nick’s body couldn’t even be release because of “security reasons”, so there was no burial this weekend. Instead, tonight was an informal, intimate gathering and tomorrow was the official memorial at the church.
Difficult as it was to unplug and turn off that part of your brain that wanted to fixate on everything you needed to be doing back in L.A., you did your best to be in the moment and stay focused on what was important. In fact, the only reason you had to check in with Tony was because you had been unintentionally ignoring his messages the past few days. You could blame that on the lack of both cell service and wifi, and perhaps also a handsome mechanic who never failed to put a smile on your face whenever he popped into your mind. Which was fairly often, to be honest.
Someone tapped you on the shoulder then, bringing you out of your thoughts, and you turned to see Maria’s kind face. She asked about L.A. and wondered if you had a chance to use the hair kit she had gifted you before you left town. You were actually able to say yes, smiling at the memory of running your fingers through Bucky’s chestnut locks in that motel bathroom. You didn’t mention that part to her, though. She brought you up to speed on the hair salon and her growing kids. One last embrace and she let you go as the next person caught your attention.
The evening was exhausting and emotionally draining, a few tears falling when stories of Nick were shared. As you ascended the stairs and got ready for bed at the end of the night, your thoughts swirled around the word “home”. It’s not always just the place you live, and although family can also help make that distinction, another phrase continued to resurface in your mind: Home is where the heart is. Somehow, without even meaning to, there’s a chance you had left your heart in a small town four hours east of where you stood. What that meant for your future, you really couldn’t say just yet.

The memorial service was lovely. Nick Fury was a private man, but each person whose life he touched had a story about him. There were tears as well as laughter, keeping his spirit alive with each memory shared. There was a luncheon afterward and nearly everyone in town showed up. You saw one familiar face across the room and headed his way, then slugging the man’s arm as you came to his side.
“Ow! What was that for?” Brock exclaimed, clutching his ‘injury’. “You know this is a memorial service, right? Isn’t violence frowned upon?”
“So is selling cars with the knowledge that it has a cracked radiator, dillweed,” you retaliated with a hard look. You had gone to high school with Brock, so your interactions tended to involve childish insults. He always was a bit of a shady character.
He at least had the decency to look a little guilty. “Y/N, I…”
“Forget it,” you cut him off, softening your tone slightly. “You’re lucky it worked in my favor. BUT. If you do that to anyone else, I’ll hunt you down, Rumlow. You hear me?” you threatened, holding his gaze.
His mouth gaped open to speak, but he then just nodded.
“Okay, then,” you answered, then walking away as quickly as you came.
After the memorial service on Saturday you stayed one last night with your mom, but then had to fly out Sunday to start your work week. So badly you wished you could have made the drive again and run back into Bucky’s arms, but you knew it would be even harder to say goodbye with such short a time together.
You called him from the airport, making him promise to keep his phone on him from now on and to charge it each night. Apparently, he had a bad habit of letting it die and forgetting about it for days on end in the past. There was so much you wanted to say, but you knew that now you could say it all over time. You were in it for the long haul.
Soaring through the sky at 35,000 feet, you looked down and tried to imagine that you could see the tiny dot of a town just off the highway with part of you wishing you were there. As the clouds parted, you thought back on the small towns you had spent the past few days in and realized that you now had a soft spot for them despite trying so hard to leave them not too long ago. After all, your memories lined the walls of a house filled with family in one of them and now your heart resided in another.

Four Months Later
“I know that a cliffhanger is just a matter of speech but sometimes it can be literal, I mean that’s how that term came to be, right?” you asked out loud, which was slightly odd, considering you were alone.
You were deep into one of your writing sessions, but got stuck on a plot point so you decided to talk it out. Sometimes just voicing your thoughts to an empty room would shake another idea loose enough to move forward.
“Okay, so an actual cliff…but how does he get there….is it near water? Where did I put the location notes?” you continued to mutter, scanning your plot board for the information you sought. Just then, your phone chirped indicating a text message. Usually, you would silence your phone while writing or even leave it in a different room, but when you were waiting to hear from Bucky, you muted everyone except him.
Picking up, you saw the message and grinned.
Hey doll. Writing ok?
Bucky’s texting abilities had improved quite a bit, considering sometimes that was the only way you got to talk. Phone calls were harder to pin down, especially when you were on a deadline.
Pretty good. How’s the shop?
Slow today. Package 4 me?
You squealed then, hurrying to peck out a reply.
Yes! It came!! Don’t open yet, please! A few more hours of work and I’ll call.
10?
Perfect.
You glanced at the clock to see it was about 4:30pm your time and he was 2 hours ahead, so that gave you some time to write and eventually eat something before you could call him. Now with something to look forward, your conviction was renewed as you stared at your notes and dove back in to writing with a smile on your face.
_____________
“Hey, gorgeous. It’s really good to hear your voice. It’s been what, a week?” Bucky asked, his husky voice coming through the phone. You might have woken him, but you knew he didn’t mind. Neither of you wanted to miss out on a single moment of your time together, limited as it was.
“Hi, handsome. I know, it’s been too long. I’m sorry, this script, though! Ugh!!” you groaned dramatically, falling backwards onto your comfy couch away from your writing room. You tried to separate your work and home life, even though they often occurred under the same roof.
He chuckled under his breath. “It’s okay, babe. I understand. So what’s this about a package?” he asked, intrigued.
Straightening up in your seat, you squealed again in excitement. You’d had this planned for weeks and now he could finally see it for himself. “Okay, so go ahead and open it, but I don’t want you to think it’s a needlessly expensive thing cause it’s not. I mean, it’s just as much a gift to me as it is to you,” you vaguely explained as you heard the sounds of packing tape being severed with most likely the pocket knife Bucky kept handy at all times.
“Okay?” he answered, confused, until you heard the rustling of paper stop. “You bought me a…Apple?”
“Yes, it’s an iPad from Apple, just like mine. And before you say that it’s too much and that I shouldn’t have, first of all, I didn’t. It was in a grab bag at a swanky party a while back. And yes, I should have, and you will agree once you see what it can do. Also you got a really good deal on wifi for the next few months, thanks to Clint’s cousin. He set it up.”
He huffed out a sigh, resigned. “Well, I guess I can’t argue then, can I? So what do I do with it?”
“Okay. So, the round button in the middle should be at the bottom. The on button will be at the top, so click that and the screen should light up.”
He did as you instructed and then followed your directions to swipe to the right, unlocking the device. You set it up so he didn’t have to enter a security code. Best to keep it simple. He then pressed a finger on the small icon of an “S” in a blue circle as you requested, followed by selecting the words ‘sign in’. Smiling, you pressed the call button on your own iPad and heard the echo of the tell-tale ringing through your phone.
“What the…is that…?” you heard Bucky’s confused voice until his handsome face came into focus.
“Hi, there, Sexy,” you cooed, grinning at your boyfriend through the camera before hanging up your phone, which was no longer necessary.
“Y/N? Oh wow…you’re right, this is the best gift ever,” he beamed at you with those favorite eye wrinkles of his making an appearance. “Thank you so much, babe.”
“You’re so welcome, hot stuff. I thought you’d like a little more face time,” you smirked, wiggling your eyebrows.
He laughed at that, the iPad shaking in his grasp before his expression became serious. “God, I miss you, doll.”
He shifted on the couch up to sitting and raised the camera to eye level. Bucky looked as attractive as ever, even with the faint couch pattern on his right cheek. He must have fallen asleep watching another movie that you had recommended. Movies gave you more to talk about besides how much you missed each other, plus Bucky loved that you were sharing one of your passions with him. Luckily Darcy was a great resource for movies.
“I miss you, too,” you uttered with a sad smile that then brightened. “However…part of why I wanted to video chat was because I want to ask you something face to face. Ready?”
“Ask away.”
“Well, you remember that project I was working on a few months ago?” He nodded in response and you continued. “Oddly enough, the shoot went smoothly and post-production is coming to an end ahead of schedule. It’s an Indie film, lower budget, but with a few higher profile stars and some of that Stark publicity magic, it’s actually getting some attention.”
“That’s great, Y/N!” he responded, genuinely excited for you. “You haven’t told me much about it, though. Keeping things under wraps still?”
“Actually…” you began, “that’s because I want you to experience it firsthand. With me. The premiere is in six weeks and it would mean the world to me if you came, Buck.”
“Um…wow,” he uttered, eyes wide in shock. “You want me to visit you in L.A.? Is this a whole red carpet thing, cause I…”
“No, no,” you interrupted. “I mean, yes, there will be a red carpet, but I’m not at all obligated to show up that way. We could arrive quietly and leave right after, if you want. I know it sounds like a big ordeal, but this movie is important to me and all I want is to have you next to me. That’s all.”
He paused to consider. “I don’t know. The shop…”
“…is doing great now, you said it yourself. DumDum can handle things for a few days and Peter is a great help, right? This gives you enough time to square things away and let them know about anything that might come up if you’re gone. I can fly you in, but if you’re not comfortable with that, you could make the drive. Please, Bucky?” You knew you were in the territory of almost begging, but this was a big step to take for Bucky. It was important that he knew you had thought of everything and while you would take no for an answer, you definitely didn’t want to.
You saw him stare off into the distance, scrubbing a hand over his whiskered face before responding.
“Okay.”
“What?” you cried out, rising to your feet. “Really? You’ll come?”
“Of course, doll. You’ve made the trip out here a few times now and I should meet you half way, too. I’ll admit, I’m nervous about it, but I want to support you. Yes, I’ll be there. And I’ll make the drive. I could use a little wind in my hair, I suppose,” he said, unleashing that devilishly handsome grin.
A high-pitched squeal escaped from you again, nearly losing your grip on your iPad as you danced about the living room. Bucky’s laughter rang out through your device. And he was right, you had made two trips out to see him twice since you reconnected. Now you were ecstatic he would be heading your way soon.
“Okay, okay,” you settled back on the couch, having finally contained yourself. “So I have a plan…”
_______________
5 Weeks Later
The gift of being able to Skype face to face became part of your weekly routine as often as possible. You started a tradition of cooking and eating dinner together as you Skyped, even coordinating having the same meal at times. You were trying to cook more healthy meals at home and rely less on takeout.
It just felt good to talk, continuing to get to know each other and feel that comfort of having someone to come home to, even if it was only through a screen. After a while, you needed a bit more than talk. You couldn’t help it, though. Things eventually escalated to more risqué behavior as you shared intimate moments alone, but together, when all you wanted was to be in his arms.
Thankfully, the wait was almost over. Through the past month, you had been planning Bucky’s trip out to come and see you for the premiere you were so excited to show him your home and the most beautiful parts of the city.
Back when you were just starting out, sharing a small apartment with roommates was the ideal scenario. You were barely squeaking by at times to pay rent and expenses as you worked odd jobs. Even after you had sold your first script, it took months before you actually saw any money. Once you had a more steady income and royalties, you were still frugal and saved most of what you made. On rare occasions, you would splurge on a stylist and hair and makeup team just for the night when a big event came up that you were asked to attend.
Your one big purchase was a down payment on a gorgeous condo in Malibu with a breathtaking view of the ocean on one side and the Los Angeles valley on the other. You needed the peace and quiet for writing and you had earned it. Steve had actually helped you move in a few months before you headed home unexpectedly and that was when everything changed. You had heard through mutual friends that he was doing really well, working steadily and even dating someone. Steve deserved that happiness and you wished him nothing but the best. He had been so good to you and even had encouraged you to try again with Bucky. You would be forever grateful to Steve for that.
Puttering around the kitchen as you made dinner, you couldn’t stop yourself from glancing at the clock every few minutes. You had heard from Bucky while on the road and he should be arriving within the hour. Your heart sped up a little, imagining Bucky driving through the streets of the city you now called home as the distance between you all but disappeared. He had made the drive in good time, stopping where you had recommended as you remembered the first time you headed this way.
Turning on some music, you focused on the recipe before you and tried to distract yourself from the ticking clock. A short while later, you heard the rumble of a car’s engine getting louder, but not one you recognized. Turning off the stove, you walked to the window overlooking the street to see a sleek black car parked in your driveway. When you saw who stepped out of the driver’s seat, you lost all composure. Tearing down the steps to the first floor and then throwing open your front door, you rushed across the lawn in your bare feet before launching yourself into his arms.
Bucky caught you easily as you wrapped arms around his neck and legs around his waist, your lips finding his in a furiously passionate kiss, conveying all the pent-up emotions between you. You both muttered sweet nothings to each other without breaking contact, finally releasing your legs to stand when you realized you were giving your neighbors quite the show and they might get more of one if you didn’t take a step back.
“Hi. You made it,” you said with a laugh, beaming.
“I did,” he said with a chuckle. “Made good time, too. Just couldn’t wait any longer to get to you,” he admitted, capturing your lips in another kiss.
Breaking apart, you finally took in the vehicle that had brought him here with a wide smile. “Is that what I think it is?”
He smirked then, turning towards the car but keeping an arm around your waist. “Yup. The Impala.”
