@soldrawss : thinks of a huntlow AU
Me: instant brainrot
Sol posted a lounge singer/bartender AU on twitter like less than 48 hours ago and it instantly consumed me. I know nothing about lounge singers or what time period this is but I just went with it tbh here ya go. Part 2
———
She’s not coming over here, the voice in his head repeated as Willow lingered in the doorway of the backroom. No way, now way. Hunter had nearly jumped out of his skin when she came out, assuming she had left by now. The club had been closed for over an hour now, and he was always the last one out. But no, there she stood in the harsh light of the cheap light bulbs that seemed to favor her and her alone.
She was a vision but she was no illusion.
Maybe there’s some creepy fan waiting outside for her, he thought. The very idea made him shudder. It wouldn’t be the first time, but Willow was the one the other girls called on to take care of these things. He remembered once Eda had kicked out some heckler who had been stealing drinks from other patrons and quickly over served himself. As he was unceremoniously escorted out, he declared that he’d be waiting outside all night. The singer finishing her set came up to the bar to get a drink and Hunter offered to call the police to at least have someone walk her home, but she said she wasn’t worried. Before he could ask why, Willow walked up and asked him for some ice. He saw her knuckles were bruised and had a few tiny fresh cuts, obviously from a recent altercation. Hunter quickly wrapped some ice in a clean rag and began rambling about getting the first aid kit but Willow just chuckled and said it was fine as  though it happened all the time (which Hunter later found out it did).
“But…. But your hand,” he sputtered, amazed at how calm she was.
“Oh, it’s fine,” she said, unbothered by the purple hue it had adopted. The ice had prevented the swelling, which seemed to be her biggest concern. “That’s why we wear gloves, right?” She gave him a wink and any chance that a Hunter had of being normal around her was gone. Hunter already knew she had the voice of an angel, but turns out she had the ruthlessness of one too.
He was hooked.
So every night he sat at the bar, waiting for a glimpse of her. The regulars knew not to order a drink during her set because Hunter’s attention was rightfully elsewhere the moment she walked on stage. It wasn’t just her voice either, her sets were smart and funny too. She’d talk between songs, sometimes telling a story when she was introducing a number. Hunter wasn’t totally sure if they were true stories or just things she made up to help with transitions but any possibility at a glimpse into her life was too tempting to pass up.
Don’t stare, don’t be creepy, he thought, trying to steady his breath.  She had unpinned her hair but that only made her look more stunning in Hunter’s opinion. Her emerald green dress clung to her like it was aware of what an honor it was, making the room feel like it was bland and beige when she wasn’t occupying it. Without her signature white feather boa, he could see her bare arms, covered in freckles like a collection of constellations waiting to be discovered. He had never seen her so close before, he felt objectively starstruck. It was like his eyes didn’t know how to look anywhere else. It felt like being too close to sun.
Usually he could only see her face through a sea of people, the spotlight helped but it paled in comparison to her natural glow. It was like she was destined to always be across the room from him. He held his breath as though this was a sighting the slightest wrong move could ruin, as though she could be startled. But she rummaged through her bag and when she found what she was looking for, she reapplied her ruby lipstick in her handheld mirror shaped like a white rose. She was effortlessly elegant. As she blew a kiss at her reflection, he felt his pulse stop.
She must be on her way somewhere, he thought. Of course she has a life outside this place, duh. He tried not to look like he was staring as he pretended to write something down, unaware he was holding the pen upside down.
From the corner of her eye, Willow scanned the room and saw they were alone. Perfect, she thought as she snapped her compact closed and made her way over to the bar.
Be cool, be cool, he begged. He expected her to walk by him, maybe give him a small wave or a smile to acknowledge him and say goodnight. He was mustering up the courage to give her a nonchalant nod, like she was just another person in the bar and not the unknowing keeper of his heart.
Oh Titan that’s so corny, he thought. There’s no way she even knows my name, I need to get over this-
“Hey Hunter,” she said, leaning on the counter like she was just anyone and not the most angelic thing to ever grace his bar.
“Oh, h-hey,” he attempted to respond casually, pretending to wipe the counter to look busy. He hadn’t exited her to stop. He cursed himself for not using her name as she had said his. He didn’t feel worthy of it. “Why are you here so late?”
“Skara had a date so we all moved our schedules around to help her out and I ended up with the short straw,” she said. Hunter recalled she had gone on later than she usually did. “But I don't mind, it’s kinda cool seeing this place empty.”
“Eh, you get used to it,” he shrugged.
“That’s right, you always close, don’t you?” she said, knowing Hunter was a famous workaholic. “Oh wow, with the crowds you get I bet you like the peace and quiet at the end of the night.”
“It’s nice,” he admitted. “Gives me time to organize things and do inventory.”
“Oh shoot,  I’m probably interrupting your routine huh? Sorry, I can-.” she leaned back as though to leave but Hunter cut her off.
“No! Uh, I mean no… you’re not,” he tried to cover. “It’s nice to have someone to talk to, actually. Someone who's not slurring their words, that is.”
“Well then, if you don’t mind the company,” she said, setting her bag down and making herself more comfortable. “I don’t mind being it.”
“Can I get you a drink?” he asked, hoping she’d say yes.
She had been hoping he would ask. “You sure? Wasn’t last call over an hour ago?”
“Well that was yesterday,” he said, preparing a glass for her. “According to the clock, it’s technically a new day.”
“Well whaddya know?” she said as she watched him add ice to the shaker as he proceeded to mix her drink. He thought about doing the tricks he and Luz had practiced to get extra tips on nights when they worked together, but the risk of dropping something and looking foolish was too great so he played it safe. In record time, she had a  drink in front of her.
“How did you know my drink order?” she asked, impressed.
“I memorize everyone’s,” he half-lied.
“Wow,” she cooed, stirring her drink as she watched him move behind the bar. “You know every drink by heart?”
“I mean, pretty much,” he said. “Just makes things easier, really. Sometimes I make up drinks when it’s slow.”
“Really? Do you give them fun names?”
“Huh? Oh, kinda? I-I mostly name them after birds.” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. “I uh, I like birds.”
“Oh?” she said, tapping the glass with her nail. Do you like songbirds? She wanted desperately to ask, but instead she said: “Really? What’s your favorite one?”
“Um, well I have the cardinal which is just cranberry juice and bourbon and but I add some garnishes on the side that make it look cool,”
“I’ll take one,” she smiled and Hunter went to work. The moment she set her empty glass back on the counter, he had another one ready in hand for her. She knew he was famous around the club for his attention to detail but she selfishly hoped the gesture was based in special attention to her.
She took a sip and her eyes widened in delight. “Oh! I love this!” She said and Hunter beamed as though it was the only drink he had ever made. “Eda said you were the one who made custom drinks for her and Raine’s wedding.”
“Well, it wasn’t too hard,” he said. “They have very distinct personalities, Raine wanted their drink to be something easy on the stomach but with a hint of apple while Eda cared more about her drink ‘weeding out the weak.’”
“Oh I remember those,” laughed Willow. The wedding had been the first time Willow saw Hunter, it was when she found out he would be working at the club. She had maybe had one too many ‘Eda’s Elixirs’ (some kind of apple moonshine mixed with red wine and whiskey and some secret fourth thing that made it work somehow) and thought she had imagined the stoic blonde she had dubbed ‘Prince Jawline.’ But he turned out to be real, a friend of a friend, a future coworker, a kindred spirit even. A man she still referred to as Prince Jawline when he came up in conversation. He didn’t remember meeting her there, but memory loss was a common theme that night.
But luckily Willow was just slightly better at holding her liquor.
“What about me?” she said, trying to sound as though she hadn’t been dying to ask. “If you had to make a drink named after me, what would it be?”
“Hmmm,” he thought for only a moment. “Probably sparkling white wine and kiwi. It would be bubbly and sweet and green, just like you. And I’d add a pink flower garnish, like the one you sometimes wear in your hair.”
Willow blushed, having thought her question would adorably stump him so she could make a joke about him being a tall drink of water. But this was much better.
“Well, looks like I have a new usual then, huh?” She said with a smile as he went to give her a sample of his apparently improvised creation. He made sure to select the most elegant glass.
“So, what’s your secret?” she asked and he froze for a moment before she continued. “How do you make these taste so good?”
“Oh, that! Oh it’s uh it’s the cherries,” he said. “I always put extra cherries in just about everything to make it sweeter.”
“Tsk tsk tsk, you can’t give up your secret so easily, bar boy,” she teased, picking out one of the aforementioned cherries.
“Usually as a bartender, I’m the one people tell their secrets to,” he joked, trying to focus on counting the limes and lemons. But he hadn’t retained anything except the way Willow’s voice danced, the way it got slow and sneaky when she made a joke. It was the way she talked between her sets when she was introducing a love song.
“Ohh, you’ve got a stash of secrets, huh?” she asked, wrinkling her nose. “Anything good?”
“Well, I knew about the Blight divorce I think before even Odalia did,” he said in a low voice, fully aware no one else was there or would be there. But he liked how Willow leaned in closer to hear him when he did.
“No!” she gasped.
“Yeah!” he said. He had never been one for gossip, but that was no longer a secret so it didn’t count, right?
“Oh, what else?” she asked, sipping her drink in anticipation.
“Oh, wow I can hardly keep it sorted,” he said. “I get people telling me about how they hate their jobs, how they’re afraid of getting older. Oh man, you can’t imagine how many confessions of love I get in a night.”
“I dunno, I bet I probably can,” she said with a smirk he thought he imagined. “Can I tell you a secret?”
“Anything,” Hunter said, hoping his smile was as charming as he was manifesting it to be. She paused for a moment to create suspense before a smile overtook her face.
“I can’t see a damn thing,” she said before erupting into a sea of giggles. She laughed with her whole body, her whole self present in the silliness and Hunter was so captivated that he almost didn’t notice she was about to fall off her stool. Hunter reached out and grabbed her hand to steady her and she looked at him in awe as he pulled her forward.
He gulped. “W-what do you mean?”
“I can’t wear my glasses onstage because of the glare from the uh light,” she explained breathlessly, not removing herself from his grasp. “So the whole time I’m up there I can’t see anything.”
“Nothing?”
She slowly shook her head, her eyes still locked on him. “Nope, nothing,” she said, biting her lip. “Not unless they’re real close.”
Hunter then realized he was still holding her hand as he leaped backward as though she was on fire. She giggled again, it was like every sound she made was music. He pretended to be invested in the bottles near him.
“Oh uh wow I had no idea,” he chuckled.
“Well I guess that’s a good thing,” she said, sitting back. “It helps get rid of the stage fright when you can’t tell the difference between a packed house and an empty one.”
“You hardly seem like the type to have stage fright,” he said, cleaning out another glass that definitely was not dirty. Or an empty house, he wanted to add.
“Thanks,” she smiled, stirring the remaining ice cubes in her cup with her straw. “You’re sweet.”
“So uh, if you’re not looking at anyone what do you think about up there?” asked Hunter nervously. “Just because you always seem like you’re singing to someone, but that’s probably just because you’re a good performer.”
She smiled. “Skara taught me this trick for how to tilt my head so people think I’m singing to just them,” said Willow. “But I’m actually just looking at the back wall. Or would be, if I could see it. Huh, I guess I’m technically looking at you when I sing.”
He nearly dropped the glass on the counter. “Huh uh yeah well uh but it's not like you can see me or uh anything,” he said, clearing his throat.
“Yeah,” she said, swirling the lingering ice in the cup in her hand. “Shame.”
“Did you want another?”
“I should probably slow down,” she chuckled. “I’ve already had three. Think I’ll work on some of these cherries.”
“Oh yeah you’re probably starving,” said Hunter, feeling stupid “Nothing’s gonna be open now, do you want me to get you like some pretzels or something? I could see if-,”
“No, no, no,” she insisted. “I already made you wash three extra glasses, I am not gonna let you go to any more trouble for me.”
He’d go to all kinds of trouble for her.
“Fair enough,” he said as he went back to his usual duties.
“Hmm, ya ever try to tie a cherry stem into a knot with your tongue?” she asked, starting to feel the alcohol warm her chest and make her feel cheeky..
“What? Uh, no I don’t think I have?” he chuckled, having never heard of such a thing.
“Here,” she said, tapping the glass nearly full of them as she took one for herself. “Try it.”
He indulged her, taking a cherry and popping it in his mouth as Willow did the same. She watched in delight as he focused on trying to maneuver the stem in his mouth, holding back the giggles as she tried not to win their unofficial race by too much. At last, a look of surprise showed in his eyes as he went to carefully pull out his creation.
“You did it!’ she exclaimed, taking out her matching knot to compare.
“Yeah,” he laughed. “That’s so weird, is that like a party trick or something?”
“Hmm, something like that,” she said, making circles on the counter with her finger. “If you can do it, it’s supposed to mean you’re a good kisser.” She added her latest knot to a glass filling up with stems before giving him a wink.
“Oh,” he said, nearly choking on nothing. Had he known, he would’ve tried to be cooler about it. Her reveal got exactly the reaction she had been hoping for. She loved the way his blush reached his ears. “I uh I didn’t well I don’t even-,”
“What do I owe ya, bar keep?” She said, resting her chin in her fist, having no intention of leaving but knowing he’d be caught in that loop for awhile.
“It’s on the house,” he said, shaking himself out of his trance before deciding to put a single glass away just to seem busy. He wanted to just talk to her, but was worried that focusing on that without a task to keep him busy would make saying something stupid easier. This way he didn’t need to worry about what to do with his hands or if he was staring. He was so used to staring at her freely from across a crowded room, seeing her so close felt almost forbidden.
“Oh no I know how badly this place pays,” she said. “Gimme the damage.”
“Oh no no, you misunderstand,” he said, leaning down with his elbows on the counter to see her better, feeling a burst of confidence for some reason. “When I say it’s ‘on the house’ I mean it’s on Odalia’s tab.”
“Oh, well in that case,” she leaned forward and reached over the bar to grab another bottle from underneath as she quickly unscrewed the top. “Pour yourself a glass then too.”
“Heh, I’d love to but I’m not supposed to drink on the job,” he said, his heart racing at the effortless way she had secured the bottle. He had never been so jealous of a bottle before.
“Awh, you sure? I hate to drink alone,” she teased. She examined his face to see if the phrase sparked a locked memory, but no. He didn’t remember saying that to her at the wedding. Nevertheless, she knew he was ever the professional, only he would consider being the empty bar so far after closing time as still being on the job. “What about a Shirley Temple? Extra cherries?”
He chuckled. “Well, now how did you know my drink of choice?” he said with charisma he hadn’t seen in years, preparing two of them, somehow knowing she’d also want one.
“Guess you’re rubbing off on me,” she said with a grin, As he passed her drink to her, she reached out and purposely placed her hand over his. She could feel his hand lean into the touch as the tips of their fingers fought the urge to interlace. “Thanks.” She made her voice light and airy.
“Oh yeah, sure,” sputtered Hunter, slipping his hand away as he mentally cursed himself for not being able to match her energy. He wasn’t entirely sure what the energy was, but he was not hating it. “T-thank you too.”
“‘Thank me?’ For what?” she chuckled.
“For… being here, I guess,” he said, not sure what he had meant either. He cleared his throat as he tried to compose a better explanation. “It’s nice having you here. Not just now, either. All the time. I’m kind of a big fan of yours.”
“Really?” she asked. She hiccupped, her hand darted to her mouth to cover it in embarrassment. She shook her head, hoping to shake them and continue to appear cool and collected.
Hunter smiled. “Yeah, I mean, you’re amazing,” he said. “T-the songs you pick are amazing. The way you… I mean, it’s all amazing.”
“Aww,” Hiccup. Darn it, why now??? She thought. But she tried to embrace it, hopefully he would think it was cute.
He did.
“What’s the sweetest drink you got?” She asked, failing to suppress another hiccup. “Cause that should be the one named after you.” She held her glass to her lips and gave him a wink.
There were many drinks she could name after Hunter.
One night, she had a sore throat which made her singing sound raspy and deeper. It was a nice sound, but by the end of the night she could barely speak. When she got off stage, Hunter had sent Luz with a special mixture of honey and lemon that had her back to normal the next day. She hadn’t told anyone she was sick or asked for a remedy, but he just knew.
When she had to work on her birthday, he added a sparkler to her drink. She didn’t know how he knew, she must’ve mentioned once in passing long ago, but he remembered. Luz said he had special ordered the sparklers, so it definitely wasn’t a last minute thing.
Dang it, that would’ve been a great time for the tall drink of water thing, she thought. The alcohol was making her a little spacy and she missed the way Hunter stopped functioning at her sweetness remark. She let out another hiccup, nearly spilling the drink she held to her lips. Hunter snapped out of his trance as he tried in vain to hide his chuckle and Willow pretended to be offended. “Hey!”
“Sorry! Sorry!” he laughed in spite of himself. “It’s not bad I swear it’s really… endearing.”
“‘Endearing?’” she repeated, raising her eyebrow. He didn't want to say ‘cute.’ He thought it was cute, but he didn’t want to say that. She hiccupped again and he couldn't help but offer her a guilty smile and she gave him a faux vicious stare. “Well, they may be endearing to you but they’re getting on my nerves.”
“Here,” he said, reaching down to grab something from the fridge. “Biting on a lemon is supposed to help them go away.” He presented her with a recently cut lemon wedge.
She looked at him skeptically. “You’re joking.”
“No, no I swear,” he insisted.
“Okay then,” she said, reaching down to grab another lemon from the tray. “I’ll do it if you do.”
He was going to protest, saying he didn’t have the hiccups. But instead, he took the slice from her and allowed their finger to brush once more. “Deal.”
She smiled as they both looked at each other and felt something shift. Willow was insanely competitive, and she heard Hunter was too. Mentally, they decided to enter a match to see who could endure the sour taste the longest. They both brought forth their best poker face as they tried to seem casual about the sharp acidity. They stared at each other with cutthroat intensity as their eyes began to water.
They surrendered at the same time, each discarding their lemons in a napkin  as they exclaimed their remorse.
“Hey, I think it worked,” laughed Willow, waiting another moment to see if a hiccup would interrupt. When he didn’t she refocused on the tart taste lingering in her lips. “Oof, I guess that’s why I don’t sing ‘Life is just a bowl of lemons.’”
Hunter laughed, debating if he should mention her rendition of the song had been his inspiration for adding extra cherries (he had ordered extra, thinking about her while filling out the order form).
“I’m sure you could make even that sound lovely,” he said softly.
She giggled, before taking a deep breath and sliding closer to him. “Liiife,” she sang sweetly and quietly, as though wanting to lure him closer. “Is just a bowl of… lemons.”
Hunter hadn’t had a sip of alcohol but he might as well have been drunk. Her voice seemed to surround him in an embrace, pulling and pushing him forward as it guided it toward her peridot eyes.
“I-I like it,” he said, trying to remember how to breathe normally. He gulped as she prolonged her gaze on him and tucked her hair behind her ear.
“I’ll dedicate it to you,” she decided, sucking her teeth as she suddenly felt inspired. “Hey you want a sneak peek at something I’ve been working on?”
“Really?” he said, eyes widened before he caught himself. “I-I mean uh, really?” He tried to downplay his interest, but she could see through him.
“Yeah,” she said, twirling the end of her hair. “You up for a private concert?”
“You don’t have to,” it hurt him to say, He didn’t want to impose. “I mean, you’re off the clock and I don’t wanna-.”
“Oh hush,” she said, flicking the loose strand of hair in the front of his hair, like she just needed an excuse to be closer to him. “You won’t let me pay you for the drinks, consider it a tip.”
“Okay,” he said, not trying too hard to summon an argument. She clapped her hands in excitement as though she didn’t do this practically every day.
“The mic’s not on, but with no one in here the acoustics are really great,” she said, hopping off the stool. She took her long skirt in her hand as she ran back to the stage, tapping the microphone as she often did before her sets, though nothing happened. She giggled and ran over to the piano to find her starting note as she prepared to sing acapella.
“Okay, well this one isn’t on the set, so lemme know what you think, okay?” She called as she smoothed her dress. “I’ve been saving it for a special occasion.”
She took a deep breath and suddenly the alluring sound of her voice flooded the empty room. She knew how to perfectly adjust her pacing to the echoes the emptiness caused. It was haunting and enchanting and Hunter felt as though he could melt into the floor as it swept over him.
“Some day, when I’m awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight…”
As Hunter stood behind the bar feeling a familiar lightheadedness her voice inspired, he couldn't help but notice she had put her glasses on before she started singing. There was no one else here, but she wanted to make it absolutely certain that she saw him.
Inventory could wait until the morning.

As much as I want a several-hour special on the human realm timeskip and the witches getting used to Human World Things and as much as I want to see Vee's time at the reality check camp and masking as Luz and going to human high school and seeing her and Masha interact,
I want EQUALLY AS MUCH a full series about the boiling isles being rebuilt, Eda, and Camila getting to know each other (complete with emotional conversation about how much they love Luz and agreeing to co-parent and all that and crying over their baby), the characters dealing with hardships and growing, Hunter mourning, moving on from Flapjack and getting a new Palisman, the new school being founded!!!! King's powers developing, the world being understood in a whole new light and new magic, Raeda reunion, Aladarius, the blight family divorce and kids adjusting, Huntlow, Darius practically adopting Hunter, the Collector learning about mortals and the boiling isles, Eda and Hooty backstory...
There is just SO MUCH to work with and it pains me to think of how much we missed out on cause Disney doesn't know a good series when they have it and prefer shitty lifeless live action remakes of films that came out a few years ago. There is so much potential in that ending. We could have had 5 or 6 seasons to fully flesh things out. I'm just praying that Dana finds a relatively respectable company or hell, makes one of her own to showcase more of her beautiful creation, because we have been robbed.

Huntlow ft Gus au where they roleplay Cosmic frontier and being O'bailey helps Hunter feel more confident to flirt with Willow? Kinda like in Community when Annie, Troy and Abed roleplay Inspector Spacetime and Abed totally changes when getting into character
OKAY OKAY OKAY But after all this Collector shit is over and everything settles down. Hunter and Gus LARPing in their Cosmic Frontier cosplays and Gus casts an illusion curtain so Camila's basement really does feel like the inside of a futuristic spaceship. They even get Camila on board to join them. (Remember how excited she was to LARP in Yesterday's Lie?? She's never done anything like this before but she would be so into it!!)
Anyway. You KNOW how Gus and Hunter are. Obviously Gus is a born performer and very committed to theatrics but also there's Hunter who is intensely hyperfixated on Cosmic Frontier and not only connects to O'Bailey but also sees him as a fictional role model of sorts. He's cool and smart and kind and confident and basically everything Hunter aspires to be. So O'Bailey is basically Hunter's main blorbo. He WOULD be the type to keep a notebook full of O'Bailey characters analysis. He understands this fictional man inside and out. Everything from his big grand life aspirations and inner turmoil to his little character tics and personal details.
So when he and Gus get into the zone? Oh Hunter would take it so deathly seriously. Gus would too so they're perfect LARPing partners.
I think it definitely fits with Hunter's tendency to lose himself in the roles that he plays, like how his personality altered when he was wearing the Golden Guard uniform. Except, in this case, Hunter's face is on full display and rather than O'Bailey being a character Hunter can hide behind like the GG was, it's more like Hunter is just having fun playing pretend, while using O'Bailey as a bit of an outlet for him to experiment with the person he wants to be. Role-playing as this character he really likes helps with his confidence significantly as with the bonus of being unmasked, it's easier for him to tap into it as Hunter.
Eventually. Eventually.
Because when they first start playing pretend, Hunter believes that he's playing an entirely different person than himself. But he has so much fun with it!!!
Anyway Gus and Hunter get very into their roles, acting out extremely tense and emotionally gripping scenes. Camila is also very enthusiastic, though she has a tendency to break character every once in a while by devolving into squeals because this is just SO cool!!! Why did she and Manny never do this??
Anyway Willow almost always shows up to watch. For the plot. She sits there and she watches Hunter go full cool hero protagonist mode for the plot. She's very interested in....whatever the fuck is going on. There's an asteroid about to hit the ship she thinks. She doesn't know what an asteroid is but she assumes this is a bad thing.
It's Camila that kickstarts the chaos. She notices the scene is waning in regards to cool shit to say and decides to spice things up. As O'Bailey and Avery are engaged in a tense dialogue, she shuffles over to where Willow is sitting and takes her by the hands to hoist her up.
"How about you join us, Mija? :)"
"Oh!" Says Willow, blinking out of the stupor that overcame her when Hunter started a dramatic monologue about the safety of everyone in the galaxy. "Okay...?"
She had never done something like this before. But now that Camila is leading her over to the boys, she thinks to herself...hm. yeah...Yeah!! Yeah, this could be fun!!!
"Captain Avery." Camila says sharply, snapping her posture straight. "Botanist Kumiko O'Bailey has been sent to inspect our vegetation crop and report back to the Nebula Federation."
Gus and Hunter turn to look at them and Willow feels the push to engage.
"Uhh. YES!" She announces, adopting a powerful air as she places her fists on her hips and tips her chin up high. "It's me! Kumiko!! And I'm here to...uh. To do what Camila just said."
"Quando."
"What Quando just said."
"Also...." Camila continues. "She mentioned wanting to see her husband."
"My what now?" Willow blurts out under her breath.
Oh. Right. Kumiko. Kumiko O'Bailey. She had heard that name once or twice. She knows at least a chunk of the lore. Hunter talks about it often.
So. So she's currently playing the role of...
"Kumiko!" Hunter exclaims and rushes to her side. And then suddenly there's hands and they're long and narrow and warm and they are cradling her hands. And though Willow has held Hunter's hands plenty of times, it was always initiated by her. It's his sudden bout of forwardness that stuns her speechless.
Where is this coming from?
"Um..." Willow finds herself mumbling idiotically.
"You weren't answering any of my communications." Hunter says, looking deeply invested in the colour of Willow's eyes. "I was worried..."
Hunter has not acknowledged that this is something he would have been far too shy to do with Willow Park under any other circumstances. Because he is currently Chief Engineer O'Bailey and he is extremely committed to portraying this role faithfully. And if there's one thing he knows about O'Bailey, it's that he loves Kumiko with abandon.
"Aw, well, you know how it is," Willow grins, still a little breathless. She tries to tear her eyes away from their interlaced fingers, a slight blush seeping across her cheeks.
"The communication....thingie...was busted. So I just figured I'd hop on a spaceship and come find ya."
Under the assumption that she's nailing this role, Willow decides to get a little rambunctious with it. She tilts her head to the side, tweaking her smile into something overtly flirty. "I missed you <3" She says in a honey sweet tone that she has used on him on numerous occasions. It usually renders Hunter completely unsure of what to do with himself. It's adorable.
But not this time.
Hunter, completely unruffled, responds with a warm endeared smile that sends Willow's pulse coursing. "I missed you too." He says softly.
And then. One of those accursed hands of his. It settles into a gentle caress against her face.
Willow's eyes are just about about bulging out of their sockets.
"But wooow," Hunter croons, stroking the pad of his thumb across her cheekbone. (Her skin is hot and he is gonna notice, which is only making it hotter.) That's when the flirtatious touch to his own smile cracks through. "You traveled all those lightyears? For me?"
Willow does not have a fucking clue what a lightyear is. But she likes the sound of the word when he says it like that.
"You betcha, babe!" Willow responds enthusiastically, trying to regain some handle on this scenario. "You know I'd travel a million lightyears just to see you."
She flirts. Her. Willow.
Hunter unexpectedly taking the lead here is throwing her off. She's floundering.
Is this what she does to him all the time?
Hunter's smile spreads and he takes a step closer.
Willow would have taken an instinctive step back but she is currently frozen to the spot.
Hunter's eyes are very brown.
"Well..." He says musingly. "You've seen me. Will that be everything, Mrs O'Bailey?"
Willow is certain her heart forgot its main functions before promptly bursting into a frenzy.
How has his palm not scalded against her cheek.
Willow is about to say something. Potential responses swirl around in her head.
She isn't quite sure what is about to happen. All she's processing is that Hunter is standing very close and she has some ideas of what she would like to happen right now and she's pretty sure if she just--
"Oooooh. Go Hunter!" Somebody suddenly whoops and Willow gets to see the O'Bailey persona shatter like glass before her very eyes.
Luz has descended the stairs with not an ounce of context of what is going on. All she sees is Hunter cupping Willow's cheek and moving closer and closer.
Camila is observing with a broad beam, while Gus leans against a nearby wall, a little bored.
With that, Hunter is yanked back to the reality of the situation. He's not in space, he's in a basement. He's not Chief Engineer O'Bailey, he's Hunter. And she is not his wife Kumiko. She is Willow Park.
He might have been about to kiss Willow Park.
Heat floods his face and he breaks into a splutter of rapid-fire apologies. The words are spit out so frantically, they begin to tangle together.
And as charmed as Willow tends to be with flustered Hunter, she is quite disappointed that whatever that was is over.
Meanwhile Hunter is dangerously close to the realization that flirting with Willow Park is something as impossible as he originally thought.

HUNTLOW WEEK FIRST PROMPT!
HALLOWEEN/HOOTY!!
//TIME FRAME//:THE HALLOWEEN AFTER WAD//WARNINGS:
Luz is American and therefore would use American English words, but I am a British English (mainly) speaker, so if I mention something that is not American or does not exist in America, I apologise. Example: Lollies VS candy. I use lollies and America (apparently, not gonna assume) uses candy. I’ll try to use the correct terminology, but in all due respect, this is Fanfiction, not a published novel from the greatest writer in the world.
References: MOVIE: A Quiet Place//NETFLIX//M RATED//HORROR/SCI-FI//(Recommend, good 👍)
Hunter picked up his scroll as a notification pinged on the screen. Luz.

HALLOWEEN PARTYYYY!
___________________
Hunter cursed himself under his breath. Why did he say yes because Willow was going to be there? He knew now that his feelings for her were called ‘romantic’ and ‘a crush’, but all he’s going to get is teasing and he knows it. He sighed, getting off of his computer that Camila had given him. He walked downstairs, still cursing himself.
“Uh- Darius?” Hunter asked cautiously. Not his first time asking about something, but something about this made him feel nervous.
“Yes, little prince?”
“Uh, Luz has invited me to a ‘halloween party’. Can I go?” Hunter twiddled his thumbs together. Darius gave him a blank look.
“Yeah sure,” Darius replied. “Not like we are doing anything.” He placed a glass of Clawhey’s Extra Strong Boor on the table. “I’m having someone over anyways. Not like it’ll inconvenience that.”
Hunter nodded as if taking this very seriously. “Right. But uh, you were a teenager once right?”
Darius gave him a confused stare. “No way.” he snorted. “Thought I was born at forty-five.”
Hunter blushed. “That’s not- I mean-” He spluttered frantically. “How do you like… wow someone?” Cringy jazz hands were displayed to Darius in hope of them somehow increasing the knowledge to the situation.
“You want to impress someone?” Darius’s curiosity arose, despite having a very good idea of who.
“N-no! It’s like.. Hypothetically…?” Hunter stuttered awkwardly, his tooth gap showing as his face progressively turned a brighter hue of red.
“Well your Captain likes flowers so-” he cut himself off to admire the beautiful shade his son’s face, ears and apparently arms had so quickly turned to after the mention of his captain.
“Ex-excuse me!?” Hunter spluttered. “Who said this had anything to do with-”
“Hunter, I’m not stupid. You talk about her twenty-four/seven. There are pictures of her on your desk. And I found one under your pillow. Don’t play dumb. Like… everyone except her knows you are soft for her.” Darius continued, purely to annoy Hunter to the point where the boy’s body turns the same shade of crimson that his ears had. Hunter’s jaw had dropped so much that Darius could stuff Hunter’s ‘secret’ bi flag in it. Darius’s lips curled into a smirk.
“What, little prince?” his smirk only grew, Hunter becoming speechless. The blonde boy made a series of intelligible noises, each one being understandable in every way possible to his adoptive father’s ears. Darius shook his head.
“Go get ready.” he instructed the stuttering, hormonal teenage boy. Hunter shut his eyes and just accepted this.
“Will do.” he squeaked.
______________________
Hunter turned up at The Owl House cautiously. He knocked.
“Hooty, who is it?” Luz’s voice yelled. Hooty stuck his head out the window.
“Hoot hoot! It’s the weird blonde kid with the crush on Willow!” Hooty shouted back to Luz. Hunter blushed furiously.
“HOOTY!” he hissed. “My name is Hunter!” Hunter paused. “And I don’t have a crush on Willow.” he flushed, rubbing his arm. He looked down.
“Suuuuuuuurre!” Hooty mocked him. “I read the thing you wrote.”
Hunter’s head whipped up, flashback of the notebook he’d written his feelings in. TITAN! Hunter panicked.
“What writing?” he faltered, failing to hide the fact he had, in fact, written something a little bit… hormonal, to say it one way.
(:O Not like dat you dirty mind >:O)
“Don’t try to hide it with the names ‘O’Bailey’ and ‘Lily’. We aaaaallll know it’s just Hunter and Willowww!” Hooty nodded. Hunter sighed in relief. Hooty had only found his O’Bailey X Lily fanfiction. Not his diary. Hooty continued to babble on about his fanfiction, while Luz came to the door and let Hunter in.
“Even Hooty knows you have a massive crush on Willow, Hunter! How does she not realise it?!”
“Shhh Luz!” Hunter snapped.
“She’s not here, stop worrying.”
Luz complained impatiently. “Why can’t you just ask her out! You’re worse than me and Amity!”
A small gasp was heard from the room beside them, just as they were about to walk in.
“We weren’t that bad!” Amity’s lip wobbled fakely. Luz just smiled and shook her head. Hunter and Luz sat down with Amity, Gus and Vee. Now they were only waiting on Willow.
*WILLOW FINALLY TURNS UP :D*
“Willow!” Luz greeted her friend with a hug. Hunter smiled adoringly, watching from just beside the walls to the next room.
“Whatcha lookin’ at, kid?”
Hunter whipped around and smacked Eda in the face in a fight response.
“EDA!” he snapped. “You frightened me!”
Eda gifted Hunter with a rude stare. Raine showed up beside her.
“He’s looking at Willow.” Raine explained. “Haven't you noticed his extremely noticeable crush?”
Eda looked at Raine blankly. She shook her head. Raine sighed, abandoning any plan to try and help Eda understand. It wasn’t going to work. Hunter proceeded to turn what now seemed to be his face’s normal colour. He dismissed them both, walking back to the room. He could hear Willow’s footsteps as her and Luz approached the room. While Willow came in and sat down, Luz walked straight past the door. She started into a sprint, quite quickly coming back with small black boxes. She handed one to each of them.
“I got us all a little something. I know Hallween is a one-night thing, but you can use these whenever you want!” she exclaimed excitedly. Gus went straight into ripping his open.
“Oh, cool!” Gus grinned, pulling out a pair of bat pyjamas. Willow’s eyes lit up at the sight of Gus’s present. She opened hers as quickly as Gus had opened his. But in a more calm manner. She pulled out some black pumpkin pyjamas with vines all over the sleeves.
“Awww!” She held the cloth up to her face. “Thank you Luz!”
The rest of them, now intrigued, opened theirs. Amity pulled out a pair with black cats on them, while Vee found a witchy themed one in her hands. Hunter was the last to do so, and he took out his own one, which had werewolves on them. Forgetting where he was, and only caring about the fact they had wolves on them, Hunter’s eyes became wide as pans and seemed to shimmer. He hugged the pyjamas. The rest of the group giggled, and Hunter snapped back to reality. He coughed.
“I mean they’re cool I guess.” Hunter mumbled. Willow giggled softly and Hunter turned to her. His face returned to the carmine colour it has been so frequently this week. Willow thought that was cute.
“Heh, your face is all red.” she giggled. Hunter went a brighter shade of ruby. Luz clapped her hand together loudly, snapping everyone’s attention back to her.
“I wanted to go trick-or-treating but I decided that if I just bought the candy and we had a halloween sleepover it would be cool?” Luz explained.
“Yeah!” Hunter smiled, still ecstatic about his new pyjamas. He’s adorable… Willow thought. Without any warning, Luz pulled out a bag from under her bed and then proceeded to pull out bags of candy. Starbursts, Skittles, M&M’s, random chocolate bars that nobody bothered to read the label on. Though it probably wasn’t the best idea, Luz put on a movie on the TV she’d managed to shove through the portal, and they watched a movie while eating tons of candy. Luz had found a horror movie called A Quiet Place. They all huddled together on the couch.
“This might be a bit scary.” Luz announced quite loudly. Hunter, not waiting to show fear even though after reading the description was terrified, he smirked.
“The only one who would be scared is you, Luz. I’ve lived as the Golden Guard on the Boiling Isles for as long as I can remember.”
Luz grinned. “Of course, Hunter.” she nodded solemnly. “You are the strongest of them all.” she bowed to him. Hunter did not appreciate the mock. Luz turned the lights off and they sat down, facing the TV, Vee was on the very far right end, then Amity, Luz, Hunter, Willow, Gus.
“Whatever Luz. I guess we will see when the movie starts.”
*ABOUT 10 MINUTES IN*
Hunter was tense. Not a little bit, he was really really tense. The suspense of the movie scared him. The fact that there was no talking was freaky. The blanket Hunter had somehow acquired at some point during the movie was only allowing his eyes to be shown.he was wrapped up in it, but Luz being the sibling she is, decided to steal it.
“Hey!” Hunter whined. “I was using that!” Luz just snickered.
“Lol do not caaare!” she sang. Hunter whimpered. That was his safe space! He turned back to the movie, curling up timidly. A minute later, he got a tap on the shoulder.
“We can share if you want.” a small, soft voice whispered. Hunter turned to see Willow holding her blanket open. He blushed furiously, hoping the fact that the lights were off hid it.
“Itsfineiamok.” Hunter mumbled quickly. (It’s fine I am ok). Willow beckoned him to share with her. He tried to say no but she didn’t give up. His blush did not calm down as he finally agreed. He moved over a little bit. Willow noticed he was shy, and moved the rest of the way for him. She wrapped the blanket around him and moved a tiny bit closer. Their shoulders were touching, and Willow decided to close the small gap they had between them. She leant on him, unaware of the dark scarlet colour that had just overtaken the small ruby hue that dusted his cheeks. Slowly, due to the lack of noise, Willow fell asleep. Her head rested on Hunter’s shoulder. Usually, she’d be snoring. But she’d knocked herself out with sugar.
Oh my Titan… Hunter whined inwardly. She looks so peaceful and beautiful when she sleeps… maybe I should… hmm…
And to that thought, Hunter’s mind shut down and sleep overtook him. His head fell onto Willow’s. Absent-mindedly, Hunter’s body decided that Willow was a stuffed toy and he hugged her firmly.
MEANWHILE>>>
“OH MY TITANNNNN!” Luz whispered urgently. “EEEEEEEEEEE!”
Amity looked at her girlfriend, then saw the scene behind her.
“Ew.” Amity retched quietly.
“QUICK AMITY WHERE THE TITAN IS MY PHONE?!” Luz panicked. She fumbled the blankets as quietly as she could to find it.
“Hehe blackmail.” was the last thing she said before taking the photo and falling asleep with Amity.

The Web House
Full disclosure—I did not have this all typed out before today, but this won the poll, and I do nothing if not deliver.
*cracks knuckles*
So, this is kind of an inverse to my already well-established AU, The Wittebane Archives, over on AO3—Luz is the Archivist and going through the horrors, there’s an equal amount of deep character moments as well as incredibly chilling encounters, it’s great, it’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever written, please go check it out. You got tragic Lumity, tragic Huntlow, wholesome Veesha, Skara and Boscha content, and Belos being much more morally grey than you’d expect. Also, there’s some fucked-up monster content.
ANYWAYS!
I finally decided to do an AU where a young Jon ends up on the Boiling Isles, and I took a similar approach with the tone that I did with Wittebane Archives. In that story, while I still highlighted the horror of the world they live in, I decided to make it more manageable for the characters and give them chances to still find ways to feel human, reflecting the fact that TOH is a more gentle and optimistic show (and I much prefer happy endings to sad ones). So, with The Web House, I decided that the Isles in this world are the Isles we would’ve gotten if Dana had been allowed to do her original vision… which is to say, all of the scary and horrific parts are kicked up to their extent. No sugarcoating here, the demon realm is explicitly referred to as Hell.
Now, to the characters!
Jon: He is, of course, in the role of Luz. Rather than being a naive ray of sunshine from Connecticut, he’s a prickly, anxious, and socially awkward kid from Bournemouth who gets in trouble for his constant refrain of correcting the teacher, having no interest in the assignments, and his habit of reading during class. This eventually leads to him nearly getting sent to a camp for “troubled kids…” until his habit for wandering off and getting distracted by things that are out of the ordinary leads him to stumble in through a portal to the Boiling Isles. Once there, Jon is absolutely blown away by the wonder and horror of the world, and he finally finds something that he’s truly passionate about—though, time and time again, he’s told that he can’t do magic because he’s a human, and he gets very defensive about it. It takes him a while for his walls to come down.
Gerry: He’s Eda—a snarky, anti-establishment, laid-back criminal with a lot of trauma and a habit of unintentionally adopting kids. Instead of an Owl Beast curse, he has a Spider Beast curse, and is referred to as the “Web Witch” by the denizens of the Isles. Gerry was actually pretty happy pre-curse, mainly because his mother died before she could do a lot of real harm… but after getting cursed, everything came crashing down, culminating in Gerry accidentally blinding his father and running away to hide in the woods. Since then, he has a hard time really letting people in, and the fact that he’s a wanted criminal doesn’t help. But that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t regularly take in strays. (Also, the curse turns his hair black, but it’s naturally red. You’ll see why in a sec.)
Annabelle: She is a slightly more mature version of King—a spiderlike demon child that Gerry found and took in at a young age. Knowing full well that she’s adorable, she takes advantage of the fact that people think she’s sweet and naive to get what she wants, which leads to a lot of shenanigans in the first-season arc. As the story goes on, and she finally takes the push to learn more about her past, she starts learning how to be responsible and to be more honest with herself and others, though she never loses her talent for deception. She’s a curious and devious little kid.
Helen: She’s a Hooty equivalent. Just a sassy door being who helps keep the Web House in tip-top shape.
Agnes: She’s Lilith—Gerry’s older sister and the head of the Emperor’s Coven. Of course, Agnes being Agnes, she’s a lot less tightly wound than Lilith at first and is genuinely sweet and caring, just deeply misguided. She truly believes that Gerry joining the EC is the best option for him, and she’s always been tormented with guilt over cursing him. After leaving the coven, Agnes tries her hardest to make up for lost time, both with Gerry, Eric, and their great-aunt Gertrude, even if she really has no idea how to interact with people outside of being the polite and perfect role model. It’s a learning curve.
Basira: She takes the place of Willow, though her character development is less about being insecure and slowly gaining confidence and more about being stoic and apathetic and learning to express her emotions and fight for what she believes in. Basira has natural talent in both Beastkeeping and Plants, and while she initially thinks that switching to the Plant track would be better for her, she eventually decides to take both classes once it’s approved. She’s painfully logic-minded and has a lot of internal doubts about the coven system, though until she meets Jon and hears his casual breakdown of how valuing certain types of magic over others just doesn’t make sense, she doesn’t yet have the courage to voice it. On her end, Basira turns out to be just the friend that Jon needs—someone who believes in him, but isn’t afraid to tell him when he’s being an ass.
Georgie: She’s in Gus’s position, though instead of being a prodigy at Illusion magic, she’s a prodigy at Abominations magic… and is more than a little terrifying as a result. Don’t get me wrong, she’s a wonderful person, but her keen interest in both humans and in subsects of magic that are more than a little macabre can be a little off-putting to some, which is why Basira’s her only real friend at first. After their initial meeting, which consists of Georgie excitedly asking Jon for a blood sample and him being incredibly spooked by her amazement at meeting an actual human, the two end up getting along like a house on fire, and are basically enablers in each other’s chaos. Georgie’s family doesn’t have a lot of money or social standing in the Isles, so she works twice as hard in order to prove herself and get better opportunities. This leads to burnout. Frequently.
Melanie: She’s… okay, so, she’s Matt in that she’s a fellow member of Georgie’s human appreciation club and a new student at Hexside, though she and Georgie don’t really have a rivalry beyond friendly ribbing. However, she’s also Viney, in that she’s a member of the Detention track who helps kickstart multi-track studies. She and Jon don’t get along immediately, mostly due to the fact that he unintentionally ratted her out for studying both Oracle and Construction magic the first time they met, but the two form a begrudging alliance during a basilisk attack and later become actual friends. Melanie’s a sucker for drama and conflict, and she carries that with her—whether she’s in the Human Appreciation Society, the Flyer Derby team, or just hanging out with Georgie and the rest of the gang. She’s fun.
Martin: He’s Amity, in that he’s a depressed rich kid who’s severely isolated due to parental expectations. Due to his incredible talent at Illusions, a lot of kids end up coming to him when they need to cheat, though they never actually become friends with him due to everyone seeing him as a quiet weirdo who never had to work for anything. When Jon comes along, Martin is distrustful of anybody claiming to want to be his friend, and he doesn’t help things by accidentally demeaning Jon’s interest in magic—which, in Jon’s eyes, cements him as a rival. After a string of miscommunication and failed interactions, the two eventually reach a middle ground and become friends… which later leads into Martin developing a gigantic crush on Jon. Which is later reciprocated. Aside from the romantic drama, Martin learns to both become more open and to stand up for himself, becoming the kind yet bitchy individual we all know and love.
Tim & Danny: They’re Edric and Emira—Martin’s class-clown yet charming older brothers who love teasing their little brother and getting into general mischief. Tim’s the oldest, and he’s usually the one who shows a lot of actual worry towards Martin, though he’s still a very flashy individual and tends to do a lot of crazy things just for the hell of it. Danny, on the other hand, has some identity issues that stem from being a middle child who doesn’t quite know who he is outside of his family, and he tends to throw himself into something if he thinks it’ll make him stand out. They’re both illusionists, like Martin, and while Tim and Danny are biological brothers, all of them are adopted. (Also, Tim eventually starts taking Bard and Beastkeeping classes, while Danny starts taking Potions.)
Daisy: If my decision to make Basira Willow hasn’t tipped you off, Daisy is Hunter—the Golden Guard of the Emperor’s Coven, praised as a teen prodigy yet possesses no magical talent of her own. She’s loyal to the emperor and genuinely believes in everything she’s been taught, and she is absolutely horrible at expressing any emotion other than smugness or anger, believing fear and sentiment to be weaknesses and being deathly afraid of being perceived as anything other than strong. Daisy is a very vulnerable person underneath her hard exterior, and she can be incredibly soft with people she cares about… though, of course, she’s not given much opportunity to connect with anyone outside of the castle, or inside, for that matter. In the canon of TMA, Daisy is a truly fascinating character to me, and I knew that the only character she could feasibly be is Hunter—hey, person who did bad things for a cause they believed was just and had that illusion stripped from them, meet other person who did bad things for a cause they believed was just and had that illusion stripped from them. And they both love wolves. So, yeah, she’s a very traumatized child soldier who makes the gradual evolution into a protective big sister friend and a disaster lesbian.
Sasha: I had to make her Vee. I had to. Even if you take away the whole fact that she was NotThemed and how similar that is to the basilisks, the fact that she was almost made the Archivist makes her perfect for that role. Her general story is pretty much the same as in canon—she’s a basilisk who was created in a lab for the purpose of studying magic draining and ran away to the human realm, falling in love with it almost as soon as she arrived. Once in the human realm, Sasha develops a love for computers and manages to make friends with the people she meets at the camp (I’m not sure who they are yet, though I’m leaning towards making them Sam and Colin—Alice already has a role), and when she and Jon actually have a chance to meet, they almost immediately bond as siblings after the distrust and animosity is thrown out the window. Also, Sasha’s existence helps Jon finally fully connect with his grandmother, so… bonus!
Oliver: He’s Raine. As much as I love Doorkeay, I have a different role in mind for Micheal, and Oliver’s dynamic with Gerry as two gorgeous witchy goth men connected with The End is something that I’d love to see more of. Anyways, um… so, Oliver and Gerry’s story is pretty similar to canon—they met when they were in high school, were best friends from that point on, and eventually started dating, though they broke up due to Gerry being tight-lipped about the curse and Oliver eventually making the decision to join the Bard coven. Oliver didn’t start being a rebel leader right away, though, since he initially believed that the best way to fix things was by changing it from the inside, but after years of that not working, he finally caved and started the BATs. He’s very practiced at pretending that he’s just an unassuming workaholic, and he often claims stage fright in order to continue operating under the radar. Oliver’s a smart dude.
Trevor: He’s… well, he takes the position of Eberwolf as the Beastkeeping coven head, but he also acts as Darius for a lot of the story beats—mostly because he takes the role as Daisy’s actually decent paternal figure. Trevor comes off as an old grump who doesn’t like people or fun, and he’s seen many a Golden Guard die in his time as a head of a coven… so, when he sees Daisy be rebellious for the first time in her life, his wolf dad instincts kick in. Not quite sure where Julia fits in yet, but she’ll fit in. Somewhere.
Jane: Terra. She has to be Terra. Gross plant woman who pretends to be sweet but is actually psychotic. She’d definitely suggest turning children into mulch as an apt punishment for failing a small challenge.
Nikola: Same deal, she’s Adrian. She can’t be anyone else.
Peter: He’s in the position of Odalia—an antisocial yet jovial businessman who reeks of old money. He also deals in security and weaponry, though he primarily uses oracle magic instead of Abominations, and he’s very interested in studying the effects illusion magic has on the mind. Of course, he can’t actually practice illusion magic, so he has to turn to other avenues for research… such as adopting three gifted illusionists. Needless to say, Peter is not a good parent by any measure,  and he kind of holds the fact that he adopted his sons over their heads so they don’t step out of line. Unfortunately, the kiddos don’t have an Alador equivalent (as far as I’ve decided), so the only person they can really go to outside of each other is Peter. Not a good environment, really. And it’s definitely complicated by the reason why their dad has all this standing and power, beyond just the family connections…
Elias/Jonah: So, he is in Belos’s place as the emperor who’s secretly a human witch hunter, but his motivations aren’t the same. Rather than planning on killing witches simply because he hates magic, his intention is to drain the magic from them and take it for himself—well, for humans, but mostly himself. Elias is also a lot more… shall we say, lax about interacting with other witches, which is why he has zero qualms with having an on-again, off-again relationship with Peter Lukas. And several other men throughout his time on the Isles. Yeah, Philip may be too deep in a Puritanical mindset to claw his way out of Narnia and admit that he’s not straight, but Jonah is a harlot and that’s a part of his character that stays constant. I’m not gonna go into his backstory, for spoiler reasons, but I will say that Gwendolyn is a Caleb equivalent, and Alice is her Evelyn. I’m riding on the Dyhard train and you can’t stop me.
Micheal (Distortion): And last but not least, I couldn’t make our boy Micheal anybody other than The Collector! I know that technically, he and Helen are kind of the same character, but she just doesn’t have the silly vibes that he does. All I can really say is that his story is… well, it matches up with in canon, except he’s more of a preteen than a kid. We know so little about Collie’s past outside of the events that led them to be trapped, and what we know about Micheal himself—pre-Distortion, of course—is equally as murky and unclear, so… yeah. He’s a funky neon star kid who originally manifests as a funky shadow kid.
And yeah, I think that’s it for now.

How is Huntric incest if Darius/Alador is varely just a screen they share in the ending?
Also, by that metric, wouldn't Lumity and Huntlow have to get cancelled or something? Because Camila says: "I never expected to be the mother of 6" when referring to Luz, Vee, Amity, Gus, Willow and Hunter? Bam!! They're all siblings now.
And as cute as the Dad Darius is because we want Hunter to be loved and belonging, Darius could just be a mentor to him, and that's not bad.
For me it's more of Darius grieving the loss of his mentor, The Golden Guard, and redirecting that energy into becoming a good Mentor and being the positive guidance this teen needs.
We do have a good reference that there is a type of contract to legalize one's adoption when King formalized being a Clawthorne. We never see that with Hunter and Darius, or Camila and the Hexquad for that matter. So, it's up to interpretation.
That take me to the last point: Hunter IS a Noceda-Clawthorne just like Luz.
The sibling energy between Luz and Hunter is hard to deny, Luz welcomes him as family, Camila and Hunter can bond through her favorite books the same way Luz connects with his dad through TGWA, both being arcs or acceptance and healing, he likes wolves just like his new mom!
And Hunter reconnecting with the family Belos took from him and all his predecessors first by being found by Flapjack which we know is THE palisman of Evelyn/Caleb and later him being accepted into the Clawthorne because there is no denying Belos was right: from all of the grimwalkers he is the one who resembles Caleb the most.
Abd what did Caleb liked? Magic, wonder, wood carving and palisman.
The narrative works in a way that both Luz and Hunter belong to both worlds.
Uhhhhhh, welp sorry for rambling i just believe the Hunter and Edric are incest to be a VERY weak statement considering the ending.
TLDR: we don't have set in stone iF Hunter is being adopted by Darius, Darius and Alador getting together/married and Hunter having a romantic relationship with anyone. As far as we know Hunter/Willow could just be platonic.
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I THINK- on owl house Twitter everyone throws the word incest everywhere cause there's BARELY any critical thinking when it comes to found families. I swear to God.
On top of that, even with such little screentime, the fandom eats it up like crazy. And that's not a bad thing until people have gotten worse whenever they see huntric shippers lately. There was never any valid reason to dislike huntric cause it's not even REMOTELY problematic, but because of the Aladrius/Dadrius nugget, these fuckers count this as a "victory" just so they can watch the huntric ship die.
Over SMALL screentime, and ambiguity. Like you said, Darius personally is more of a mentor, than he is a father to Hunter. I also think Darius and Alador were barely developed enough. The blush feels like an afterthought. Not to mention Darius deserves better, Alador's redemption is kinda rushed to me.
But yeah all these shitty takes from people who hate Huntric are nasty and they've only gotten worse after the finale.

So side note it's 2 am and my fucking Huntlow brainrot doesn't let me sleep so here's a small fic /prompton Willow's POV about... certain things we saw at the NYCC teaser💛💚
OR... Basically me hyperfixating over this frame and writing something BECAUSE LOOK AT THOSE HEART EYES PEOPLE
Tumblr media
(no beta read bc this literally came out of my sleep deprived brain right now so sorry for any mistakes)
"Have you ever seen the rain?"
If someone had told Willow Park six months ago that she was going to become best friends with a human, and that scenario would lead to a series of events where she'd end up fighting the Emperor of the Isles (who got turned into goop by a purple child) and being on stuck on said human's house for weeks... Willow would probably had laughed at that someone's face.
But oh well... life has indeed unexpected paths for all of us I guess...
And yet somehow, that is not the weirdest part of everything her life has come to be
She, once Half-a-Witch Willow who had no friends and was scared of mostly everything had come up to make her own Flyer Derby team (just like her dads but she doesn't want to get too deep into that train of thought), fixed her friendship with Amity, had now a group of friends who loved her and who she loved so much and also had fallen for BEFRIENDED the kid behind the Golden Guard mask, better known as Hunter (or by that cute false name Caleb Jasper Bloodwilliams she did liked so much).
Now how did the boy ended up becoming such an important addition of her duo with Gus? She has no idea.
But it feels like it was something destined to happened, it's... natural. Just seeing him protecting the youngest boy, following his excitable shenanigans over human artifacts, with how much love he talks to Flapjack (and Clover the back of her mind screams) and just seeing him right now, under the human rain soaked in mud but laughing alongside Gus and Vee gives her heart a jittery feeling over how bright and beautiful the boy in front of her is.
So, she doesn't think twice when Camilla gives her the human camera and she snaps as much pictures of this moment as she can.
Titan knows this is a rare view considering the last few weeks (and in the case of Hunter maybe years, if the other night when she caught him cutting his own hair is any indication)
And yet, despite not knowing what's is going on with him and why he was so desperate to look different, Willow can't help but admire the strength her blonde has to step up and continue growing into Hunter himself and out of the whole Golden Guard title.
Also okay, she's not dumb and knows Luz and Gus might know more about what Hunter deal is, but she also know how important is the boy to her, how in the Day of Unity she was ready to do anything to keep him standing despite the draining spell, bit also how she would do anything to keep that image from happening ever again and be there to make sure he had more days like this.
It was just what she'd promised the day she adopted Clover: she will do everything to be strong and wise to protect the people she loves, even if that means "kill" an alarm clock for Vee or being there for the boy she's infatuated BEFRIENED! to cut his own hair at 3 am, holding him in his sleep, or simply silently showing she'll support him with whatever he hasn't told them yet whenever he's ready to do so.
And who knows? Based on that soft toothy smile he's giving her right now, she could get another shot at cutting his hair, under nicer and much more domestic circumstances... Heh, it sounds like a cute fantasy but at least right now, under the non-boiling rain, and running towards his arms (and Gus' and Vee's) everything seems a little less impossible.

insanity.
(DISCLAIMER: this shit is stupidly long and I blame @secretly-of-course and @lollytea for these particular brain worms. Look what you’ve done to me. I put the bulk of it under the cut so you all don’t hate me)
OKAY SO. okay. the huntlow miraculous au brain worms have been WRITHING.
I know a lot of people have been putting Hunter as Ladybug and Willow as Chat Noir, but I DISAGREE. (respectfully)
1. Willow is terrified of ladybugs and it would be REALLY funny for her to get the Ladybug miraculous
2. She just...she IS Marinette! I know that Hunter being all blushy parallels Marinette, but with Willow it could be interpreted as her shyness/insecurity during the Abomination track. Meanwhile, her true confident badass self emerges once she’s Ladybug.
3. Hunter and Adrien are both blonde bois growing up and existing under the authority of an abusive father figure. Both are highly trained in order to live up to the expectations put on them. (Though in this AU to keep up with canon a bit I imagine he's escaped to live with Luz and is adopted into her family)
4. Hunter and Adrien both infodump and it's adorable
5. I 100% believe that Hunter, if he had met Willow during his GG era, would flirt mercilessly with her. Masked confidence and all that.
I think Willow would be into Hunter but in a sort of detached way? Like he's just the brother of her best friend Luz. Sure he's cute but why would he be into half-a-witch Willow? (Are they also witches in this AU I don't know man I'm just brain melting on main)
Hunter meanwhile is a little clueless. His entire focus is on Cosmic Frontier and sewing and wild magic and and and...
Willow is really charmed by this and finds herself able to listen to his ramblings for as long as he'll talk to her (mostly when she comes around to the house and Luz is getting ready or something)
Hunter is just happy to have someone listen to him, since even Gus can get a little fed up with the constant AUs and theories about O'Bailey and the crew. He'll call Willow from time to time just to rant about whatever current fixation he's gotten into.
Their masked selves though?? Oh Hunter is head over fuckin heels for this girl. She's strong and smart and kind and did he already say strong? Titan this girl works out. Like his good friend Willow! :)))
Ladybug!Willow is kind of annoyed with this overly flirtatious partner of hers, but she sees the genuine nerd underneath peek out from time to time, especially if she's close enough to get him flustered and sputtering, completely dismantling the persona he obviously puts on for her. Sometimes she'll catch him rambling about random facts he knows and the sparkle that appears in his eye reminds her of her very good friend Hunter! :)))
She tries more and more to get this genuine, blushy side of him to appear, eventually getting so comfortable in the dynamic that it starts to spill over into her interactions with Hunter. He and Chat are so similar, after all!
This is when something clicks for Hunter. His sister's friend is much more than just someone who listens to him ramble, and all at once he's a mess around her. Luz picks up on this immediately and teases him CONSTANTLY about it. Willow, on the other hand, is pretty clueless about Hunter's feelings towards her. If anything she's worried he's starting to pull away
Hunter, entirely hopeless without his mask, finds himself showing up at Willow's balcony as Chat Noir. He's comfortable with her. He's able to relax without dissolving into a spluttery mess, and in turn Willow is able to be herself as well, while occasionally flirting back just for fun.
After months of these two idiots dancing around each other maybe a reveal would go something like this:
"So, wildflower, if not this handsome cat who's the lucky person you've got your eye on?" Hunter asked. He was perched lazily (and precariously) on Willow's balcony, leaning forward on his staff with a crooked smile, eyes glittering green behind his mask.
Willow rolled her eyes and pushed him away playfully with a hand.
"Wouldn't you like to know, my mysterious midnight caller." She teased, laughter subsiding a bit as she thought about Hunter. He had gotten so distant lately and she worried she had been coming on too strong. Maybe his feelings weren't what she thought after all.
Chat frowned at the sudden drop in enthusiasm, studying Willow's face. "Hey, Titan-to-Willow." He nudged her gently to rouse her from her thoughts, "are you alright?"
Willow started a bit but recovered quickly, giving him a soft smile that nearly knocked him off the balcony.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Sorry kittycat, just...thinking." She frowned again.
"Oooooh so there is someone else!" Chat fake-swooned, lying back on the railing making Willow laugh which was his favorite sound.
He turned his head to face her, eyes softening. "You know you can tell me anything, wildflower."
She smiled at his nickname for her and sighed. "I know, it's just...such a weird situation and I'm not really sure how to go about it. I don't even know for sure if he feels the same way, I..." she bit her lip, unsure if she should say more.
Chat gave her an encouraging nod, quietly waiting for her to continue.
All at once, everything Willow had been holding back for the last few months fell out in a tangle of words. She talked about "this guy", *gushed* about him, really. How he was kind and thoughtful, funny and nerdy, a little awkward at times but so endearingly sweet. How he cared for his siblings, how brave he was for escaping a bad situation and how proud she was of him for slowly coming into his own.
Willow's eyes were shining, talking about this boy, who to Chat's astonishment sounded like...him? He continued to listen, leaning forward and brain running through every scenario in which he could have POSSIBLY missed this. He could feel his face burning with the blush that must've reached the tips of his ears. He didn't know if he should laugh or cry.
She trailed off, tugging on her braid awkwardly, eyes on her shoes. "Anyway, I—" she dragged her gaze back up to meet his, only to find him practically inches away from her face. Their eyes locked and something in Willow's heart stirred. She leaned forward, squinting at him, causing Chat's eyes to widen as he leaned back in alarm.
"Who are you really?" She asked, hope and fear swirling in her chest.
"Willow, I—AH" he leaned back until suddenly there was nothing to lean on but air and he was falling. "Well," he thought, "at least I'll die knowing the most beautiful girl on the Isles has feelings for me."
Fast reflexes as always and a mumbled "oh no you don't," Willow conjured a soft bed of moss for him to tumble onto. She poked her head out from her balcony to assess the damage.
"You alright!?" She called, already scrambling down a hastily made vibe towards him.
A black-clad arm raised itself in the air with a shaky thumbs up.
He was still laying face-down in the moss, lest he look at her and burn his mask away completely. She flipped down comfortably on her knees beside him, her dress poofing out around her. She poked him with a vine, “Alive?” She asked.
"Hunter's not home right now leave a message." He mumbled out and then froze.
Willow caught her breath, staring down at him in disbelief. "What did you say?" She squeaked, feeling a blush creep dangerously close to her ears.
"I uh, haha! whaaaaaat? I have a concussion! Probably! Who knows what I'm saying! Byyyeeee—" Chat tried to scramble to his feet but Willow grabbed his hand pulling him back down next to her on the moss. She searched his eyes and, holding her breath, placed her fingers under his mask, drawing it gently up and over his forehead. She was struck by how beautiful he was. Blonde hair tousled, cheeks flushed, mouth slightly agape but that was just Hunter. She found herself smiling, and then laughing over how ridiculous everything was.
Here she had been confiding in her closest friend about the boy she liked, only for him to BE the boy she liked. It was too much. She was bordering on hysterics, as the fact that she had just CONFESSED to the BOY SHE LIKED sank in and she started to panic.
Hunter, who had been sitting there waiting for her to finish, (he knew from experience that there was no stopping Willow’s laughing fits) sensed the change and placed his hands on her shoulders, urgently turning her to face him again.
“Captain.” Her eyes met his and he thought he might melt into them but he needed to focus. Needed to make sure. “Did you really mean what you said back there?” He swallowed. “A-about me?”
The laughter had gone away replaced by a mouth so dry Willow didn’t think she’d be able to speak, so she nodded silently instead.
She was leaning forward again, placing a hand on his knee to steady herself. His eyes flitted to her lips and back up to her face, flushing at their closeness. Hunter backed up a little, “I-uh-can I maybe um.” He cleared his throat and tried again, his next words coming out in a murmur, “may I kiss you?”
Willow nodded again, more vigorously this time, which made Hunter laugh softly, raising a hand from her shoulder to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear before he pulled her in.
It was like fireworks were going off in Hunter’s brain with information overload. His hand was tangled in her soft hair (how many times had he daydreamed about running his fingers through it?), her skin warm in the cold night air as if she glowed from within. She smelled like flowers and earth and sun. His other hand found its way to her waist as he drew her closer, meaning to deepen the kiss, but he must have been a little too eager because he just threw them off balance instead. They landed in a heap on the soft moss, Willow looking up at him in shock while Hunter looked down and beamed at her, a huge grin splitting his face, tooth gap on full display.
They both burst out laughing, holding onto each other for dear life as the pure insanity over the last hour hit them fully.
As the giggles subsided, Hunter sighed contentedly, pulling Willow close as she snuggled into his shoulder. He shook his head and chuckled again, looking up at the stars.
“Titan. Next thing you’ll tell me is that you’re Ladybug.”

I don't even know what this is, please just take it
A slightly angsty very fluffy Huntlow fic since I apparently can only write about one thing
A couple of hours ago, Willow had slipped out of the house to the backyard. She'd settled on the ground behind a boulder that sat on the edge of the Noceda property line and the forest beyond it. Her knees pulled up to her chest, arms wrapped around her legs, resting her chin on her arms, making herself small enough to hide from the house, sitting there staring out at the forest in front of her, barely registering the view. Instead she was trapped inside her own head, thoughts racing a mile a minute, each one more painful than the last. Willow knew isolating herself wasn't the healthiest way to cope with her feelings, her fathers had told her that enough times she could hear their voices in her head saying just that. And yet, she couldn't even imagine making herself get up and walk back into the house anytime soon.
No one else in the house had seen Willow walk out the back door, except for Hunter. Although he'd be the first to admit that was probably because his eyes seemed naturally drawn to her. He had watched her slip behind the boulder to sit down and didn't really think much of it, but then it was hours later, and she still hadn't returned. He threw a glance at the others in the living room, making sure they were all distracted before walking out of the house to join her.
When he slipped around the side of the boulder, popping into her peripheral vision, Willow's breath hitched in surprise, snapping her out of her thoughts. Her hands were immediately clammy, her heart speeding up as her thoughts turned to anxiety that whoever it was that just joined her would be able to read her thoughts. As he slid down onto the ground, leaning his back against the boulder next to her, Willow felt some of her nerves calm at the realization it was Hunter and not one of the others. He had never known her before when she was still just half-a-witch Willow, but the others all knew who she was under the mask of confidence she's adopted. If any of them saw her now, they'd see that half-a-witch Willow had never gone away.
"Are you okay?" His voice broke the silence she'd become accustomed to, his soft tone feeling like a shout in the calm outside air.
She looked at him through the corner of her eye, knowing the way she looked told him she wasn't. She broke the eye contact first, looking back out at the forest, letting the silence settle over them. He watched her for a moment before turning to the forest, following her gaze accepting that she wanted to sit in silence.
"Hunter?" Her voice barely above a whisper. His head snapped back to look at her immediately, even as she kept her eyes locked on the trees in front of her.
"Yes?"
"I don't know what to do."
"I don't think any of us know what to do right now."
Willow sighed, dropping her forehead down on her knees, letting her face hide in her chest.
"I just- I thought I was done feeling this way. I thought things were finally different- that I was finally different."
"I dont- I don't understand." Willow looked up to meet his eyes, the confusion and worry clear on his face.
"Don't tell the others." The words escaped from her lips before she could overthink it. His face scrunched up in confusion.
"What?"
"You didn't know me before when I was- but the others... sometimes I feel like they still see me as- as- Ha," she breathed out a self depricating laugh looking down at her knees unable to look him the eye, feeling shameful that she couldn't even just say it. "I'm sorry, I think... I think I'm kind of scared to tell you."
"What?! You? Scared? Of me?" He said it so incredulously that she laughed despite herself.
"No, not of you just of what you might think. I kind of really like that you never knew me before when I was..." she trailed off, biting her lip before sighing. "When I was still just half-a-witch Willow."
They sat in silence for a heavy moment filled with Willow's anxious energy as she waited for Hunter to say something. She kept her eyes on the ground in front of her even as she could feel his eyes stuck watching her.
"You called yourself that before in, um..." he trailed off wincing a little as he remembered just exactly what had lead her to call herself that.
His own obvious embarrassment was enough to get Willow to lift her gaze up to his face, the corners of her lips twitching with the want to let a smirk form on her face as she teased him.
"In the prison cell?" She asked unable to hold back the little smile that grew as she watched his cheeks turn red and he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Yeah, that." He looked away from her in embarrassment before steeling himself and turning back to her. "You know, no matter what you tell me, I'm never gonna see you that way, and it would never change what I think about you." The butterflies in his stomach going wild as she smiled at him, realizing as he sat there looking into her sparkling green eyes that they were alone together for the first time ever. And immediately after that thought he felt his face light on fire. If she noticed the way his brain had distracted him from the conversation at hand she didn't say anything.
"I know that," she said, her smile disappearing as she pursed her lips, getting lost in the memories of her past.
The way Boscha would spit the words "half-a-witch Willow" any chance she got, especially after Willow had messed something up just to twist the knife. The way her abomination classmates would laugh as the goo inevitably fell apart splashing all over her, the whispers of "half-a-witch Willow" ringing in her ears louder than their laughter. The way Amity would look down at her as she passed her in the halls walking side by side with Boscha nodding along with whatever horrible thing the triclopse would say. And the memory of the first time Amity ever called her "half-a-witch Willow". The last memory being one she still had to force herself not to think of whenever she looked at Amity, the pain inflicted by one of her best friends still feeling like a fresh wound even as Amity does everything she can to make it up to her. Willow snapped herself out of the thoughts flooding her mind, meeting Hunter's eyes as she spoke.
"But aren't there moments from your past that you don't want to tell me about? Things you're worried might change the way I look at you?"
Hunter's eyes widened at her question as memories of his time as the Golden Guard flooded to the forefront of his mind. The things he did for Belos, the witches and demons he hurt on the orders of a tyrant, the tears that had fallen from Vee's eyes after she'd cornered him to ask about her fellow Basilisks, how he'd threatened Luz to force Amity to give him the portal key, how he could have abandoned the emperor the first time Luz had asked him to and how he could have met Willow earlier helping them stop Belos and save the Boiling Isles before the Day of Unity, but instead he'd stayed. And the last memory flashing over and over again in his mind, how he was hiding from her and Gus that he wasn't really a witch, that he was a clone of someone else, and in an instant he knew what he was going to do.
"I'm a Grimwalker." The words spilled out of his mouth before he could stop himself. Of all the things Willow thought he would say in response to her, that was definitely not one of them.
"What?" Her face scrunched up in confusion.
"I- I'm not a witch. I um, I'm a copy of- of someone else. Someone Belos killed." He looked away from her, unable to look her in the eye. "And I'm not the first one."
"I don't understand."
"Well, a uh, a Grimwalker is-"
"No, I mean, I know what a Grimwalker is. I've read a few books about them. What I don't get is why you're telling me."
"Because I didn't want to tell you." He made himself look up into her eyes. "I was scared that it could change things and I still kind of am, but I also know you, Willow." He swallowed the nerves buzzing under his skin, looking into her open expression, taking in every detail of her face, feeling grateful that he could never go back to a time when he didn't know her. "You're the strongest, most powerful witch I've ever met, and at the same time, you're also the kindest. I don't know how you do it, honestly, but you do, and whatever's in your past, I know that's never going to change who you are."
Willow was stuck watching him speak with an awestruck expression. Overwhelmed by the realization that this was the way he saw her, tears collected at the bottom of her eyes, and before she could stop it, they spilled over, dripping down her cheeks gently. Hunter's eyes grew as wide as saucers at the sight, panic flooding his veins and taking hold of him.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean for that to make you cry- I mean, I just- I wanted to- to try and-"
"Hunter," she cut him off, her voice gentle as she took off her glasses, wiping away the tears on her cheeks. She put her glasses back on looking over at him, noting that his cheeks and ears had taken on a pink blush. "Thank you. For trusting me with your secret and for everything you said."
"Y-yeah of course," Hunter was very grateful his voice didn't crack even as he was still caught up on the fact that he had never seen her without her glasses up until now. "To be honest, I probably should have told you and Gus about it a lot sooner." He looked out at the forest feeling shameful that he still hadn't told Gus and that he ever thought she would have reacted any other way than acceptance. Willow watched him in silence for a moment, she took a deep breath in steeling herself for what she was about to say.
"When I was little, I wasn't strong or powerful or good at anything. I was so bad Amity's parents told her to stop being my friend and she became friends with my biggest bully instead." Hunter blinked, his brows furrowing in obvious confusion as he tried to imagine a world where the Amity that regarded Willow like she was someone she would die to protect could ever be her bully. "I used to be in the abomination track. I was really bad at it, like really bad, so bad that people would tell me I should just stop doing magic altogether. People called me half-a-witch Willow so much it felt like that was my full name. And it took a human from another world crashing into my life for anything to change."
Hunter snorted, "Yeah, she does that, doesn't she?"
Willow laughed, "Yeah, she does. I owe Luz a lot for the changes she brought into my life. One of them being you, of course." She knocked her shoulder into his and smiled as his entire face and ears errupted into a red blush. "I just wish I knew how to fix this, you know, I was just starting to get used to being the one in the room with the answers, and now I don't have them anymore and I just feel like... like I'm still half-a-witch Willow. Part of me wonders if I ever stopped being her."
"You were never her."
"Yeah, I know. I was never half-a-witch, because my self-worth is not connected to how well I can do magic blah blah blah. I've gotten the same "don't worry about what others think" speech a million times from my dads."
"No that's not- well, I mean, yes of course, but what I meant is that that's just what people called you, it's not who you were. You were Willow then and you're Willow now. Half-a-witch Willow was never who you were, it was just an insult." He took a breath as he looked into her eyes, trying not to lose himself in thoughts of how pretty she looked in the light of the setting sun. "And for the record, no one is expecting you to have the answers for this, I don't think anyone could have the answers for this."
Willow knew there was a pink blush settled over the bridge of her nose at his words, he always stumbled his way into making the butterflies in her stomach come alive. She smiled at him before letting her head fall onto his shoulder, looking out at the forest, unaware of just what kind of effect her actions were having on Hunter next to her.
"Thank you, Hunter."
At the first touch of her head to his shoulder, all of Hunter's muscles tensed, and he could practically feel the heat emanating off of his face from how intense his blush had become. After a moment he let himself relax and even felt bold enough to rest his head against hers, feeling just how soft her hair was against his cheek, close enough to notice how it smelled like the flowers from back home on the Boiling Isles.
"Y-yeah, always, Willow."
She smiled and looked down to see his hand resting on the ground next to her, and she let her arm slip from around her legs to put her hand in his, letting their fingers tangle together. Hunter held his breath as he matched her grip.
"I think I might hold you to that."

Luz, Willow and Raine for the ask!
I’M SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG MY BRAIN REFUSED TO WORK!
Luz:
Sexuality HC: I could feel her bi disaster energy long before Thanks To Them.
OTP: LUMITY ALL THE WAY! I’m gonna be in a wheelchair hopefully 70 years from now shouting ‘Lumity for life!’, recalling the kiss once more!
Brotp: Luz and Hunter Noceda. End of story. Noceda-Clawthorne-Whispers if Eda and Raine adopt Luz at the end.
Notp: Lunter. Also end of story.
First HC that pops to my head: Unfortunately I got nothing.
Favorite line: Literally everything she’s ever said because it is impossible to choose and it would be a sin to do so. I LOVE HER SM!!
One way in which I relate to her: Nearly everything. The nerdiness, the cheery attitude, almost everything she does and says is exactly what I do/say, we would 100% be BFFs if we met, and I relate to her more than any other fictional character in existence. I HAVE STRONG FEELINGS ABOUT HER OKAY?
Things that give me second hand embarrassment: Despite never experiencing it myself, I could feel her pain throughout the Tunnel of Love. I could feel it deep in my soul.
Cinnamon roll or problematic fave: Give this girl all the cinnamon in the world, cause she deserves it!
Willow:
Sexuality HC: I’ve never really thought about that until now. And my brain’s got nothing.
OTP: (chanting) Huntlow! Huntlow! Huntlow! Huntlow!

Favorite line: “These past few months have been weird but look at all the new memories we have now. It's been nice to finally spend some time together.” -Thanks To Them
One way in which I relate to her: This girl’s determination is ON POINT! When she sets out to do something, she does not give up!
Things that give me second hand embarrassment: One word: Nothing. Mostly because I can’t think right now.
Cinnamon roll or problematic fave: One of the sweetest cinnamon rolls in the Demon Realm!
Raine:
Sexuality HC: Always been torn between Bi and Lesbian. And it looks like I’m never going to choose.
OTP: YOU KNOW IT, YOU LOVE IT, IT’S THE LEGENDARY RAEDA!! MY OTP, THE OTP, IT IS THE BEST!!
Brotp: Raine and Darius! I need their history from Hexside! I need to see them get a little bit more on each other’s nerves! And I would LOVE to see Raine and Luz bonding! Like Raine teaching her bard magic and Luz teaching them glyphs! Hopefully we get a little bit of that in the finale.
Notp: Nothing comes to mind, unless you count Raine and Terra. After everything Terra has done to them, keep them apart for the rest of their lives!
First HC that pops to my head: THEY. ARE. SO. SNUGGLY!! A complete snuggle bug! And I love this!
Favorite line: Tied between “How’d you become the Owl Lady with your stage fright?” and “Is it so unbelievable that I wanted to keep you safe? But in typical Eda fashion, you’re not going to stop until you make things right.”
One way in which I relate to them: I know the pain that comes with the social anxiety. I can feel it deep in my soul every time.
Things that give me second hand embarrassment: “Trying to…mute the magic of our hearts? -distressed groan-“ Ooowwww…
Cinnamon roll or problematic fave: THE SWEETEST ROLL ON THE ISLES I LOVE THEM TO DEATH!!
This was actually pretty fun to think about, ngl! Thanks for the ask!

A short Huntlow fic set in the future after the Day of Unity.
....
The idea of a future was still new for Hunter.
Much of his life had been devoted to the Emperor's Coven and to his so-called 'uncle'. It had left him incredibly sheltered and disconnected from people, the witches within the coven not being allowed to see his face out of protocol and him hardly ever going outside the castle except on missions. That left very little room for him to think about a future. Most of the time he just wondered about making it to the end of the day and waking up the next morning.
Then he'd broken free of the coven and of Belos, and then the Day of Unity happened and the human and demon realms were fused together, and then he'd suddenly found himself free-falling into a whole new family that welcomed him with open arms. He'd been allowed to sleep when he wanted, eat what he wanted, read whatever he wanted. His own room in the Owl House, which Camilla Noceda had moved into alongside her adopted basilisk(!) child.
(He'd been wondering where Number Five ran off to.)
In all the chaos, he'd gotten closer to the Emerald Entrails. And he'd formed a special connection with Willow in particular. She was smart, witty, strong, and brave, so much braver than most people gave her credit for. Not to mention pretty. But pretty wasn't what had drawn him to her. It was… well, even now he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was that had made him want to be so close to Willow, to send her random pictures of Flapjack if only to get all the heart-eye emojis in response to how cute his Palisman was, to spend so much time near her while they were studying at Hexside.
He knew now what those feelings were. He knew that he'd had a crush on her, possibly from the moment she didn't cut him from the team for his betrayal and even made sure there was a place for him.
They were adults now, in their twenties with decades ahead of them to look forward to. They were going to get married, start a life together with her teaching the Plant track at Hexside and him going professional with flyer derby. They'd even gotten a house together in the forests outside town where Willow had plenty of space for her plants and Hunter could fly without sharing the air. The Owl House was even just ten minutes away if he was flying.
Everything was perfect.
Then Willow got pregnant.
He'd thought it was a passing illness at first, one that left her tired and nauseous. But as it continued, he tried to ignore the signs that Amity happened to be going through at the same time. The only difference between Willow and Amity in this situation was that Amity had been trying to have a baby with Luz for a while, a baby that had come about the same way many children did in the Boiling Isles and the human realm. Hunter and Willow hadn't been trying at all, and that somehow made Hunter feel worse.
Which was why he was here right now.
He stared out at the no-longer Boiling Sea, the sun starting to dip below the horizon. It was getting late. He should be going home to Willow and their unborn child. But he couldn't think straight. Viney had given him and Willow the diagnosis and he'd left to clear his head.
A baby. He was going to be a father.
He'd supposed children were an inevitability, what with how nurturing and protective Willow was. But this was sudden. In a few months, they'd have a tiny being that depended on them for everything and he wasn't ready.
"I thought I'd find you here."
He half-glanced up at Eda, who leaned against the fence beside him.
"Did Willow send you?"
"Nah. She just let Luz know you needed some time and that she was gonna wait for you to get home."
"Did she say why I needed time?"
"Nah, she didn't say that part. Luz is confused as I am. What happened?"
"She's been sick for a while. I guess I should've known what was happening, but I think… I think I didn't want it to be true."
"Oh no, is she dying? Tell me now so I can tell Luz and get the inevitable—"
"No, no, nobody's dying. She's… she's pregnant." He thumped his head against a closed fist before burying it in his forearm. "I heard the news and I just needed to get out."
Eda was silent, and the only sounds Hunter could hear was the cawing of birds and the sound of wind in the trees.
"…great job knocking her up, buddy."
"I don't need that talk."
"No, I mean, Darius told you how it happens, right? When two people—"
"He gave me the spiel after I mentioned I liked Willow. Bel—I mean, Phillip—never thought it was important for me to know."
"You were sixteen, right? Most kids have it before they hit their teenage years in some form. Part of the whole puberty talk."
"Tita."
"Fine, I won't bring it up." She let out a sigh. "Becoming a parent is hard. I don't have any biological kids, but I do have three that I've done a pretty good job with. Luz is teaching glyphs to humans at Hexside, King is helping Lilith rediscover lost history, and you… well, you're going to become a father."
"I'm going to fail this kid."
"No, you're not."
"Yes, I am. Willow's going to be a natural mother, and I'm going to be stuck trying to be even a quarter of what she is. I don't know how to be a father. I don't have a lot of examples of what one's even supposed to be like. The closest I have to one is Darius, and maybe my in-laws if you squint."
Eda let out a sigh.
"Bonehead messed you up good, huh. He's like, one of the worst parents I've ever seen. Only one I've seen come close is…"
"Suegrita del infierno."
Odalia Blight. Luz's mother-in-law. Aka suegrita del infierno.
"You have enough examples of what not to be. And don't worry about messing up. You're going to."
"Gee, that's encouraging."
"No, I'm being honest. Every parent messes up. What matters is that you learn from those mess-ups and do better. That's how you become a good parent. Right now, though, you don't need to worry about being a good parent. You need to be a good fiancé. Because you're failing at that right now."
Hunter swallowed.
Eda was right.
"Thanks for the talk."
"Hey, my door is always open. Literally. Hooty's trying to let more bugs in."
He let out a chuckle and Flapjack chirped on his shoulder.
"I'll keep that in mind."
And he did.
For the next several months, he kept it in mind. As he and Willow (and it seemed literally everyone else in their family) prepared for their new arrival, he began to grow comfortable with the idea. As King gifted them plushies for the nursery and Willow pulled away from her more dangerous plants, the reality of parenthood sunk in more and more. And Hunter even began to be a little… excited.
"The baby will be someone new," Camilla told him one afternoon while showing him how to knit. "A little bit of Willow, a little bit of you, but they'll be someone unique. And you'll love them enough that imagining life without them will hurt."
He knew how right she was two weeks later.
Leslie Rose Park-Noceda was a tiny thing, coming into the world screaming her head off and covered in blood like she had fought on the Day of Unity herself. She was tiny and wrinkled and red and Hunter felt himself fall in love for the second time in his life as the healer placed her into his arms. His first love stared at him in exhaustion, but a happy type of exhaustion.
And only after everyone else had met the baby, after all the gushing and cooing and questions about her, was Hunter able to sit down with his daughter and think.
Willow was asleep in their bed, snoring softly, and Leslie was breathing lightly as she slept in his arms. She snuffled occasionally, and the noise reassured him that she was okay.
Because now he had a chance to think about the future. His future. Willow's future. And most of all, Leslie's future.
Leslie was born into a world free of Bel—Phillip. She was born into a world that had magic both humans and witches could do, a world where she wouldn't have to lock herself into just one option. A world where she had endless potential to do whatever she wanted. She'd never have to hear the things he had, never have to endure what he'd endured, and above all else, she'd have people that cared about her and wanted to protect her. He'd only gotten that once he was able to wake up from Phillip's control.
His stomach churned as he clutched Leslie to him and she let out a little noise that made him melt a little. She was so tiny. Were all babies like this? Luz and Amity's child had yet to be born, and he'd never really interacted with children before, so he wasn't sure. But he was sure that Leslie was perfect.
A piece of me, a piece of Willow, but she's her own person.
"I can't wait to see what kind of person you become."
He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead before climbing into bed and placing her between him and Willow to go to sleep himself.
In a couple hours, they'd be woken up by Leslie wailing to be fed. And the next few months would be the most sleepless Hunter had since his days in the Emperor's Coven. It was easier to deal with, though, when the sleeplessness came from their daughter and not waking up to deal with missions or being forced to stay up to deal with injuries caused by said missions and his so-called uncle.
All that was in the future, though.
Right now, he had Willow. He had Leslie. And that was what mattered.

Right Place, Every Time
What if Hunter didn’t join the flyer derby team? Would there still be Huntlow content? Duh.
———
Hunter had tailed Luz all the way back to Hexside, determine to get the information that no one else could manage to. He stood beneath the bleachers planning his path when Luz spotted him from the corner of her eye and ducked away to see what his deal was.
“Aw come on man, don’t you ever take a day off?” Luz groaned as she walked up to him.
“Listen human, I don’t have time for these silly games of yours,” spat Hunter, frantically looking around to make sure she wasn’t followed. “Tell me what the Owl Lady knows or I’ll... I’ll...”
Hunter stopped mid sentence as something behind Luz seemed to capture his attention. He wordlessly stepped forward walking past her, removing his mask to see better his eyes aimed up at the sky.
“Um hello? Aren’t you gonna finish threatening me?” asked Luz, this behavior not like him.
“Who is that?” Hunter asked, his voice light now hanging in a delicate whisper. Luz followed his gaze and found what had gotten his attention was Willow, fully dominating her flyer derby match taking own two open tea at once with her vines, effortlessly sweeping through the air on her staff. Her face was determined and confident, she was unstoppable. Hunter found the whole thing breathtaking.
“Hmm? Oh, that’s Willow,”’said Luz, joining him in admiring her skills.
“Willow.” Hunter whispered as though he was committing it to memory.
“Yeah, she’s like mah bestie,” Luz said proudly before noticing the starstruck look stuck on Hunter’s face. “I came here to watch her play which is kinda hard to do from down here.”
“So, uh you know her?”
“Yeah, that’s kinda what ‘bestie’ means,” Luz responded with a touch of sarcasm. “Why do you care?”
“No reason,” said Hunter attempting at act causal as he watched Willow snag another flag.
“Did you want me to introduce you?”
“Huh? What?” Said Hunter, snapping him self out of whatever trance he had been lured into. “No, um... I didn’t come here for that; I came here for answers. Lilith once mentioned the Owl Lady might have something that could be of interest to the Emperor so it’s my duty to retrieve it.”
“Uh-Huh,” said Luz, her eyes darting between Hunter and the field, something told her he was fighting the urge to look back there as well. “Well, I’d love to help ya, really I would, but I’m kinda in the middle of something. See, my friends are playing in the match and I came to support them so I should probably get back to that.”
Luz spun around to make her way back to the bleachers and Hunter ran after her. “You can’t just walk away from me!”
“Chill dude,” she called back. “How about we watch the rest of the match and then we talk about whatever cryptic mission you’re on?”
“I don’t have time for this nonsense!” Hunter insisted angrily.
“Well, we both know you’re not gonna cause a scene here,” said Luz. “And we both know you’re not gonna leave until you have something to report, so looks like you’re gonna hafta wait a bit Goldie, so ya might as well get comfy.”
Hunter sighed unhappily. “Well, I supposed I could watch for a little while,” he grumbled, kicking the ground in defeat. “For research purposes.”
———
“Wow,” breathed Hunter, shamelessly gawking at Willow. “She’s amazing.”
He had adopted a civilian disguise to blend in as he sat beside Luz to watch the rest of the match. Try as he did to hide his enthusiasm to go against his plan, his eyes couldn’t help but be glued to Willow the moment he sat down. She was clearly the best one out there, her form, her confidence, her strategy... and there was something else too...
“Yeah, she’s the captain,” said Luz as she continued to cheer on the team.
“The Captain,” repeated Hunter with admiration. “Of course she is. She has a natural command, how odd you claim to be good friends of her’s yet you seem to lack respect for authority.”
“Aw, you wanna meet her don’t you?” Luz sang with a knowing look and giving him a nudge with her elbow. The accusation, though accurate, made Hunter flustered for some reason.
“I think... she would be a valuable person to make the acquaintance of,” said Hunter, sitting up straighter. “But I wouldn’t ask you to arrange it.”
“Whaaaat? Why not?”
“I’d rather not be associated with you,” he said smugly, turning his attention back to the match. “Lest it tarnish her perception of me. I’m the Golden Guard, head of the Emperor’s Coven, I don’t need someone like you to talk me up.”
“I never said anything about talking you up, I only offered to introduce you,” said Luz rolling her eyes. “Willow can form her own opinions but in case you’ve forgotten, Willow is my best friend so she thinks very highly of my opinion. I’d consider being a little bit nicer to me if I was you.”
“Put in a good word for me and I’ll interrogate you tomorrow instead,” said Hunter faintly.
“Deal.”
———
“Willow!” exclaimed Luz, waving to her friend as she exited the field. They had won their match in a landslide and the glow on Willow’s face reflected that.
“Hey Luz!” Willow greeted as Luz pulled her into a quick hug.
“Congrats on another win, captain!” Said Luz with a grand and esteemed voice.
“Thanks!” Willow smiled before her eyes darted to the figure behind her. “Who’s your friend?”
“Huh? Oh, yeah,” said Luz, not considering Hunter to be her ‘friend’ exactly as she stood aside to make the introduction. “Willow Park, this is Hunter. He’s-.”
“-delighted to meet you captain,” Hunter cut her off before she could finish, extending his hand to Willow. He stood up straight, hoping to distract her from his eagerness with over-formality. “You, uh, were amazing out there. It’s admirable how you always manage to be in the right place at the right time.”
“Oh, thanks,” said Willow taking his hand and giving it a firm shake. “I don’t think I’ve seen you around before, are you new?”
“I’m not a student... here,” he said quickly, slightly taken back by the strength of her grip. “I’m just uh, here on business.”
“Oh, I see,” said Willow with a smirk, pulling him slightly closer. “You’re a spy, aren’t you?”
“What?! W-Why would you say that?”
“I bet you’re from Glandus High, aren’t you? We’re playing you guys next week and you came to try and pin down our strategies, right?”
“No! No, uh...” he stepped back, impressed by her interiors took techniques as he found himself entrapped in her glare. “I’m just... a fan?”
“A fan, huh?” she said skeptically, the glare of the light inhabiting her glasses and making her look even more intimidating. In a moment, her attitude shifted and she gave him a bright smile. “Okay! Nice to meet you! You liked the match?”
“Like it? I loved it!” Hunter marveled. “You were amazing! The way you barked out orders and snuck up on your opponent! Not to mention that thing you did with the vines! You looked beautiful! I mean it was, um... very impressive.” Hunter quickly caught himself and returned to a tone of professional and less... whatever this was.
“Well, thanks,” said Willow, with a small blush. “But it was really a team effort.”
“Well, a team is a reflection of its leadership, so credit where credit is due,” said Hunter with confidence. “You know, my team could really use someone like you.”
“Your team? But I thought you weren’t on a flyer derby team?”
“That... is true,” panicked Hunter. “I mean my team of...well, a team can be any group of people with a common goal so what I mean is-.”
Thankfully, Willow was called away by Gus before Hunter could dig a deeper hole for himself.
“Oh, sorry gotta go,” said Willow, signaling to Gus that she’d be right over. “Duty calls, you know how it is.”
“Boy do I!” Hunter said, far louder than he intended to and utterly mortifying himself.
“Anyway,” Willow chuckled. “It was nice meeting you. Hunter, right? Maybe I’ll see you around?”
“Yeah, right! Maybe I’ll see you,” replied Hunter, failing to be smooth. “Maybe we’ll see, if we see each other. Or...yeah. I guess we’ll see.”
Willow gave him a faint wave and she ran back to the field, Hunter giving her a smile he very rarely shared. He Cornish’s to smile at her until he was out of her sight and Luz reentered his vision.
“Ah!” He exclaimed. “Human! I forgot you were there!”
“Clearly,” smirked Luz. “So, are guys thinking a fall wedding or maybe something in the winter...?”
The insinuation was not lost on Hunter and his face turned beet red as he turned away from Luz to leave in a huff.
“How interesting,” she murmured to herself. “It seems our bad but sad boy has a soft spot and her name is Willow.”
———
After the team meeting, Luz went to get Willow and Gus so the three could walk home together.
“Oh hey Luz! What happened to your friend?” asked Willow.
“My friend?” asked Luz, confused. “Oh him! He uh... had to get home to do... chores?”
“Oh, okay.”
“Why? Did he bother you? I’m sorry if he did, he just really wanted to meet you. I know he’s kind of-.”
“Oh no, it’s nothing like that,” said Willow as they began walking. “I just thought he was kinda cute.”
“Really? Even after talking to him?”
“Yeah,” Willow laughed. “He was sweet. Do you know if he plans on coming to the next match?”
“I dunno,” said Luz. “But something tells me he’ll find a way to see you again.”

The Owl House Effect
(SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NOT WATCHED THE FINALE FULLY YET!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Owl House finale premiered on April 9, 2023 on Disney Channel and Disney Channel’s YouTube channel, officially bringing the beloved animation to a close. Titled “Watching and Dreaming”, the creators (and the characters) bid farewell to fans with a heartwarming ending. We all definitely sobbed at the end.
In the finale, we got answers to the Collector’s past, revealing that they’re just a kid who was sent down to the Boiling Isles by their brothers and befriended Titans, but once the race began dying, the Collector was then seen as an enemy, but it was all just a big misunderstanding. Luz, who reunites with Eda and King, helps the Collector understand how to be kind and make friends. Belos, who continued to posess Raine (who eventually broke out of their trance and got Belos out of them), tries to stop Belos from possessing a giant TITAN’S HEART, but it’s too late. Once Belos takes over the Titan, the Boiling Isles starts to become covered by him. Amity, Gus, Willow, Hunter, and Camila eventually get themselves out of their puppet trances and work to stop whatever Belos was doing to the Isles from spreading, and with Luz nearly dying and meeting the Titan-King’s dad-himself, she gets powerful magic flowing inside her, leading her to beat Belos for good. As years pass, the Boiling Isles has rebuilt itself, and before Luz heads off to the University of Wild Magic, everyone spends a good time together to celebrate Luz’s very late quinceañera.
Back in 2020, fans were introduced to the magical and haunting world of the Boiling Isles, following a young teenage Latina protagonist and human, Luz Noceda. Meeting Eda Clawthorne, the Owl Lady, and living in the Owl House with her, Luz learns many things along the journey-how to perform magic with glyphs, how to maintain her friendships, and discovering who she wants to truly be. The show was a success to many fans, as the characters were completely relatable and worthy of admiration.
When Season 3 was getting announced, fans were pissed to the bone when it was discovered that Season 3 was only going to be 3 episodes, cutting off so many details that could have been further explored if a whole season was done (giving a big side eye to you, Disney). The show’s creator, Dana Terrace, continued to let fans know that all their love is appreciated, and fans promoted the show as much as they could, making fanart, writing fanfics, and so much more.
As the years pass, many of the characters get new looks, but are still the same people. Vee got a nose ring, Willow cut her hair shorter, Eda grew her hair out again, Gus got a new hair look (and I love it!), and King got a bit taller. Since he’s a Titan, there’s a long way of growing for this little guy.
Also, Hunter has a new palisman, and it’s named Waffles! How adorable is that! I love how Willow and Hunter made a grave for Flapjack, *sobs harder*.
There are many theories that surrounded the show, and the number drastically increased when it came to the short Season 3. Fans began to think about the story surrounding Caleb Wittebane, Belo’s (Phillip’s) brother, and a witch named Evelyn. Fans believe that she was a Clawthorne like Eda and Lillith (and King, even though he is adopted), and there are clues that match every character’s design, as fans continue to try and connect the dots. We only know the story Masha had told the crew during “Thanks to Them”, but there was certainly more to be discovered. Regarding the theory that the entire show was just a dream Luz was having, we’re thankful that this was truly all real.
This was also a good ending for all Lumity and Huntlow shippers. We got to see Amity and Luz share a kiss, and another on the cheek towards the ending, and we love to see the representation. Hunter and Willow meet and hold hands, which implies that they are most likely together now (hopefully).
As a bisexual myself, I admired the representation this show gave to all the LGBTQ+ fans out there. When Luz came out to her mom, I was so proud of her. Many unfortunately do not have that much support that Camila gave Luz, but this show is there for LGBTQ+ fans to be welcome and appreciated.
Now, fans will continue to display The Owl House in their own ways on social media and everywhere else, letting the show live on. It’s crazy how the show is officially over, but it is never over in our hearts. Keep on rewatching it as many times as you want, and show others that The Owl House was worthy of it’s success!

      HUNTING PALISMAN
(Authors note: AU where Hunter is the Human. Willow is the Golden Guard. And well instead of giving off sibling vibes, you get some huntlow foods. It’ll be a funny oneshot I think)
.
.
.
          Willows pov•
Willow looked up through the eye slots of her mask as her adoptive father  spoke to her. He had just had another outburst, the curse taking a toll on him once again. She felt terrible about his curse, wanting to help. Wanting to figure out a way that would cure him for good. So he could be happy. Free from the evils that the wild magic had done to him and their family.
After inhaling the soul of the palisman she just handed to him, he reached his hand out for more.
“I’m sorry Father. Our supply is out, the palistrom wood was over harvested. Please. Just let me help you, we can grow more palistrom trees! Actually I heard-“ She stopped herself before getting ahead. Noticing the way he tilted his figure towards her.
“I’m sorry. I just, I just want to help you.”
Belos walked towards her, placing one hand on her shoulder, “Please be safe. I don’t want you to be caught up in the dangers of the wild magic. Our family is gone because of wild magic. Your family is gone because of wild magic. We’re all eachother have left. It… it caught up to me, Willow. It’s ruining my life, don’t you see? I wont let the same to happen to you.”
Squeezing her shoulder, he turned away and dismissed her.
I… have to prove myself. I just have to. “I’ll get you more, I promise. I’ll save you…” She whispered into the void.
.
.
.
Hunters POV• Hunter stared at the roof of the hollowed trunk, surrounded by palisman of all shapes and size after being followed home by a cute little bee. He thought about what he really wanted. His truest wish.
He was happy but disappointed seeing all his friends get their own palisman. None of them came to him. “Apparently ‘I have no emotions’ or wait how did she word it? There was no… conviction! Yeah, that’s the word. Do I not look convicted??” He waved his hands frantically pointing at himself. Some of the palisman stared, some didn’t even stir from their rest, and one of them, that little bee, buzzed.
“Huh. Well, atleast one of you gets it.”
He continued deep in thought, he knew he wanted to he powerful, learn all the magic he could, and well, become a witch! But he new he couldn’t break his promise to his mom either… would he even stay here? In this crazy terrifying yet beautiful plane? What’s the point of magic if you can’t use it on earth? Would he make it home? And if he did, would his uncle even allow him to come back? Would he ever find lo-
“Ah. What’s that?!” He exclaimed as he felt himself and his current habitat being shook. He crawled over to the little door to reveal “huh! What in the world??” Quickly stepping away from the ledge, he stared in unbelief.
They were being carried over 100 feet in the air! His head snapped up to see the large Coven airship carrying the trunk. “We’re being kidnapped… haha! Don’t worry little guys, I’ve got this” he said chilvarously. Puffing out his chest, he used a plant glyph to create a makeshift vine wall ladder thing?  He loved taking down the bad guys. Oooh maybe he’d use his powers to be a super hero!
          No Hunter! FOCUS.
As he reached the ship, he peeled his head over the side. He immediately notes the ships captain was the golden guard himself.  Hehe… this would be a piece of cake. He quickly inhaled a breath to hold and planted an invisible glyph on his chest. Hurriedly making his way over as quiet as possible, he slammed a fire glyph on his back.
“Haha!” He exclaimed, finally revealing himself. The masked vigilante turned towards him. Obviously confused before being shot up and out of the ship. Screaming like a girl. “Huh.. those screams didn’t sound very manly”, he chuckled to himself. He then turned towards the levers and realized he didn’t know what the heck he was doing.
“How do I land this ship?” He mumbled.
“Oh, you just pull that lever righttt there.” A masked voice called.
“This one?” He pointed, looking up and immediately felt all the blood drain from his face.
“Oh. Heyyyy.” Hunter responded sheepishly before trying to make a run for it.
A green glow overtook him, and he felt himself anchored across the ship. He was tied up tight too. He growled back at the guard.
“Nice to see you too human.” The guard claimed sarcastically in a very unusual voice. Maybe the guy hadn’t quite hit puberty yet and was trying to cover it up?
“What do you want with the palisman, Golden Guard?” He seethed.
In a flash of green light, the guard was above him. “What you should be worried about is yourself! For the crime of rocketing me off my own ship!” He squeaked.
Hunter couldn’t hold back the laughter this time. “Dude, it’s ok if you haven’t hit puberty, just pleaseee stop talking like that. Captain sir!“ he cackled out loud.
The guard huffed before threatening to put him in the lowest dingiest cell. “Eh, not like I haven’t broke out of it like three times” Hunter shrugged.
“Hmm fine then. I’ll zap you into dust and throw it into the boiling waters. That better?”
           That shut him up.
As he tried to free himself, struggling with his footing, he noticed the ground was… marking? Hmmm. “Say.. how’d you get back to the ship so fast?”
        “Staff” the guard replied confidently.
“Cool!” Hunter replied, activating the ice glyph he had just made with his foot, rocketing the staff off the ship. Well done Hunter. He mentally cheered himself on, feeling a smug smile play on his lips.
The Golden one whipped around, angrily pointing and threatening him. “it’ll take more than that to thwart my mission!”
“RRROOOAAAAARRRR!” And up and above then, a very strange dragon grabbed a hold of the sail, and ripped it in half. They were going down.
.
.
Hunter woke up, the little bee palisman, chipping away the ropes wrapped around him. “Oh hey little guy. Thanks!”
As the ropes loosened, he rubbed his head. “Dang, that hurts. Ooh?” He spotted the staff the golden guard had earlier, and reached over to pick it up.
He whipped his head as he heard a light groan, noticing legs sticking out, the golden guard?
“We found the palisman. They’re a little rattled, but unharmed”
Hunter turned once again, seeing a bunch of coven scouts, already patrolling the area. He ducked behind some… gold? Was this golden mushrooms or…? Never mind. Focus.
The small demon, Kikimora, replied to the scout, “Very good, return to the city and prepare for travel.”
“Is-is it true ma’am? Is the golden guard really…” the scout hung their head.
“This is all that remains” the little demon replied, faking distress, holding up the mask. “Such a horrible accident, probably caused by the incompetent pilot.”
“I’ll alert the castle.” The coven replied, saluting before it and the other scouts hurried off.
Kikimora then blew a whistle, and the same dragon from earlier, giving the finger hand dragon thing the mask for a treat, telling it to retrieve and take care of the remains. Oh no.
Hunter hurried over to the golden guard, encouraged by the little bee, as he got closer he realized something undeniably crazy and unexpected. It was a girl! The golden guard was a GIRL!
.
Hunter quickly ran to her and leaned over the unconscious witch. She was cute… really cute. He felt heat rise up to his cheeks as he took note of her features. She could be a student at Hexide, she looked a little younger than him. In fact, she was probably Amity’s age. She had dark braided hair. A plump freakin adorable face.  A small scar going down from her left cheek to, he was assuming, he’d neck. And glasses? Dang that must be a struggle with the mask and all he thought. He noticed a small chip in her ear as well. But it was her lips… well. He leaned closer, not exactly thinking about what she’d do if she woke.
Now listen. Hunter had watched a lot of Disney growing up, and you better believe Sleeping Beauty was finna be his favo-
           “Buzz!”
“Ah! I forgot about you” Hunter responded sheepishly. He rubbed the back of his neck and smiled at the bee innocently. What was he thinking! This was the GOLDEN GUARD. A bad bad bad guy- er girl. He couldn’t be thinking like that. No matter how undeniably attractive she was.
The bee shook its little head and landed on his shoulder. Hunter then shook the girls shoulder, “Hey Captain Goldie Guard, Wake up!” He shouted quietly.
She stirred a little, mumbling something as she woke. Her eyes fluttered before locking on his. They were the prettiest eyes he’d ever seen. Oh. My. Titan. Call him a traitor now! This was his soulmate!
Her emerald olive eyes took on a confused look before shoving him away and tackling him. “Human! What did you do?!” She cried accusingly, hands aiming for his neck.
“Hey! I’m trying to help you!” He hollered at her. Fighting back, keeping her hands away, so she didn’t freakin choke him.
              “Why should I believe you?!”
“Because im your future husband!” He called out before realizing what he just said. She stopped immediately, staring horrified at him, but he didn’t miss the faint blush that graced her chubby cheeks. If his hands were free, he’d passionately strangle himself right now!
“ROAR” the guard whipped her head up, eyes locking on the hand dragon thing. Obviously aware that it wasn’t a nice dragon. “Oh no.”
         “Man. Kikimora must hate you.”
.
The two made their way through the streets of Latissa. The girl stomping her way through the street ahead of him as he took in the city.
“Wow. I haven’t been outside of Bonesburough that much, Latissa is cool! Uh, wait!” He called as he hurried after the girl.
The girl swiftly turned down a new block. Hunter could tell she was aggravated. Welp, there goes your first impression Hunter! Wait… no. He tried to fight her once did he? Oh yeahhh before she hung him and Eda over the boiling seas.
“Hey you! I just saved your life you know? I could have left you there. The least you could do is tell me your name? “
The girl looked back at him for a split second before huffing and continued  faster. The girl walked up to a few scouts, demanding them to lead her to their communications room.
“Haha! Isn’t it a bit late for you to be out little girl?”
“That is no way to talk to your superior!” She scolded, pulling her arms up to reveal her sigil.
“Aww cute. Y’all teens still use fake tattoos? “
The witch looked taken aback. “Fine. I can prove it. Staff.” She demanded, holding her hand out towards Hunter.
He quickly hid it behind his back and shrugged. She gave him the cutest mortified look. Lips tugged down in shock and humiliation.
“Get lost kid. We don’t have time for this.”
And then she gave him a death stare before taking off towards him. Oh no. “Eep!”
.
.
         Willows POV•
That annoying little twerp! How dare he! As Willow chased human through the city, she had to give him credit. He was fast. Not fast enough though.
She was sure she had him cornered in an alley that had a dead end. But nope! He used some kind of wild magic to shoot himself up and over the ledge of a 4-5 story building.
“Whatcha gonna do pretty girl? Er, I mean Goldie Guard? You got some kind of levitation spells?” He mocked. He was mocking at her?
She hung her head in thought, not willing to meet his gaze. She saw it. That flicker of sympathy. As he realized she had no magic. Stating it in unbelief, like he couldn’t believe it.
No! She didn’t need magic. She was enough. The titan had BIG PLANS FOR HER!
She quickly took about ten steps back before jumping onto the lowest ledge, sprinting and flinging herself up on to the next. She quickly made it to the top.
         *WHIZ*
She quickly, easily dodged the beams the human layered towards her. With HER staff.
“Back up! Or-or else!” The human threatened weakly.
She smirked. “Or else what? Hunter? That’s your name right? Whatcha gonna do? Blast me to bits? Nah, you’re too nice for that.” She chuckled. “Fly away? Ah ah, cause then you’d be leaving behind your preschools palisman. You don’t tend to think things through do you?” She smiled ruefully.
Before the boy had a chance to respond, that Titan forbidden dragon was back. And apparently trying to retrieve the palisman . “So. Kikimora was after my catch huh?”
“Hmmmmm looks like neither one of us want Kikimora to win, sooo,” the blonde titled his head, it was a little cute. “Why don’t we help eachother?” He smiled widely. She noticed a gap in his teeth. For the first time she actually noted his features. Sure she had always knew what his appearance was, he was well known in the empire. Student to the infamous Owl Lady. And of course. A human. But up close, and without the darn mask on, impairing her vision, he was a lot cuter than she originally let on. But there’s was no way in heck she was gonna say some crazy stuff like he did earlier.
“Ok. And when it’s all over, you think I’m just gonna let you take them?” She asked quizzically.
“Maybe you won’t be able to stop me.” He chirped energetically, a confident smile playing on his lips.
“Confidence looks good on you,” she chuckled a little. Noting the blush distilled on his face and even his ears? “Fine. A truce until then.”
The human reached his hand out, and just as she was about to take it, he pulled back and ran the hand through his hair. “Too slow” he chuckled and ran off.
        That little-
.
“What are you doing?” She mumbled, giving him her full attention when she returned from gathering sleeping nettles.
“I’m making a glyph pattern see?” He pointed to two circles that had a different pattern in each, connected by a bigger one “This one is a fire glyph, that one is ice, when I put them together it’ll create a thick mist!”
         “And…What’s the sleeping nettles for?”
“Oh their essential! Combining them with the fire and ice-“
“You’ll create a sleep-inducing spell, forcing Kikimora to land!” She squealed a little to excitedly.
He smiled at her, cheeks that almost matched the color of his magenta eyes,  but obvious confusion on his face.
“Oh.. I read about a similar spell in the book, ‘Bones to earth’-“
“A study of wild magic” they both claimed at once.
Hunter smiled, “I know the guy who wrote it, Eda pickpocketed him once” he covered his moth and laughed.
She felt herself blush before looking back up at the glyphs. “I-I’ve never seen glyphs before. But they seem familiar to the magic practiced in the Savage Ages.”
“Really?” He asked, leaning towards her, she had his full attention.
“Actually…” she continued feeling a little shy now, “a lot of people don’t know this but-“ no. She didn’t like the way he was looking at her. It made her feel like he could see right thought and-and this stuff was against the law. “No no no no. This stuff is restricted for a reason. You should keep away from this stuff, you could get hurt.”
“Uhhhh Huh. Yeah ok Goldie. You know, aside of Lilith, I haven’t spoken to anyone in the Emporer’s Coven…. What made you wanna join?” Hunter asked her, a confused and curious look on his face.
No one had ever asked her that before. She sighed. “You.. you were right earlier. “ she stated, sitting against the wall now. “I’m a powerless witch. Most of my family was. I never thought I’d get a chance to have a life like this. To be wanted… especially not by the Titan himself! But then Belos took me in. Gave me a staff of artificial magic. Gave me a purpose…said that the Titan had big plans for me”
The human frowned, “at least you have your own future figured out.”
“At least you get to choose yourself. I want nothing more than to protect those I care about. The ones that care about me! I want to be strong, I-I- and whoever got in the way of that, would feel the sting of defeat! I- I don’t know. It’s stupid.”
            “Buzzzzz”
The bug palisman thing immediately flew right up in her face. “Hey!”
“Awwww he likes you… or she? I’m not really sure.”
“Well it needs to stay away from me! Those things are made of wild magic, therefore, they’re dangerous.”
Hunter chuckled as the bug flew back and landed in his shoulder. He reached a hand up and pet the thing. “Does it really look dangerous to you?”
She gasped a little. Taking in his words… “I-“
         “GROWL*”
 .
“Ok. Masks on” the human announced. Willow quickly tied the bandit around the lower half of her face. She was ready.
“Once they’re surrounded by the smile, we need to stay close and see where they land. She nodded her head, ready to kick Kikimora right where it hurt!
“Here… just in case.” The human  extended the staff to her.
          “Are.. are you sure?”
The human narrowed his eyes, forcefully handing the staff over, “just take it.”
He then activated the glyphs, attention turned towards the sky. Willow hopped on the staff, leaving room for him. They then followed the ship. It was working!
The ship came to a landing, the beast now sleeping peacefully. The human ran towards the trunk, checking on the now palisman.
She activated the staff, and pointed it towards the human. He tended up, clearly not thinking things through, again.
“Really. You’re still going to do this? You’re just gonna hand all these little guys over to Belos? I know what he does to them.” He remarked, something in his eyes she wasn’t used to seeing. Compassion.
She lowered her staff. She pulled down her mask. “My name is Willow.”
His eyes lit up and he whispered her name, as if trying to keep it in his memory. He smiled at her. As he seemed to be about to say something, the human lunged and knocked her out of the way of a fire ball.
She hurriedly got up, put her mask back on, and fought the demon. “Go!” She hollered as she single-handedly doglegged every fireball, even protecting the human from a few, and then teleporting behind Kikimora and knocking her out with one graceful blow.
She stared up at the sky, seeing Hunter on the dragon, taking the palisman with him. She was so dead.

Summary: After dating for years, Hunter finally decides that he wants to propose to his girlfriend, Willow. But things don't exactly go to plan.
I’m procrastinating on homework and other fanfictions, so here’s a fanfiction that I got the idea to write upon hearing Hidden In The Sand by Tally Hall. I did proofread this but I didn’t proofread this thoroughly.
So this is a modern day AU. Hunter was adopted into the Noceda family, he and Willow have been dating for a while, and they’re both aged up to their mid-20s. Anyway, onto the fic.
Today was the day. The weather was perfect, there was an empty spot, and conditions couldn’t be better.
We were playing in the sand.
Hunter led Willow to the spot he had in mind. The sun was setting and the ocean breeze wasn’t uncooperative. It felt like a scene that would come out of a romance novel. But maybe that was just a sign that he was making the right choice.
He took a deep breath to calm his nerves then turned to face Willow. She looked great. She was wearing a plain pink sundress and she managed to make that look amazing.
“Thanks for coming out to me today, Willow. I really appreciate it.”
“No problem, I always love spending time with you.” She smiled at him and he felt warm inside.
Now was the perfect time. He reached down in his pocket and tried to fish out the expensive ring but… he couldn’t find it.
Not only would this moment be ruined if he couldn’t find the ring but it was expensive. He tried his other pocket but no luck there. Did he forget it somewhere? He was beginning to panic.
And you found a little band.
That was when he looked up and saw that Willow had apparently found something. “Look at this. Someone lost their ring.”
She looked at the inside closely, probably trying to find a name. “We should turn this in somewhere, this beach should have a lost-and-found.”
Hunter didn’t know what to say. How many people lose their ring almost as soon as they're about to propose?
Suddenly, she looked sad. “It’s unfortunate, it looks like a wedding ring.”
You told me you fell in love with it.
Hunter started mentally kicking himself.
Hadn't gone as I planned
“Yeah,” at this point, Hunter’s mind was practically blank so his mouth took control. “I think there’s a lost-and-found at the entrance. Let’s go there now.”
“You’re right.”
When you had to bid adieu.
As they walked to the entrance shack, Willow made a comment, “I hope we find the owner, this is such a nice ring.”
Said you'd never love anew.
He was happy to know that she genuinely liked it and wouldn’t just say she liked it just to make Hunter feel happy. Maybe he could still salvage this.
I wondered if I could hold it. And fall in love with it too.
“By the way, can I see the ring?”
“Hunter Noceda, are you trying to take this nice ring for yourself?”
He felt his face heat up. Oh no. Did he come on too strong? Was he too pushy? “Wh-what no, it’s not like that, I ju–”
“It’s fine, I was just teasing you. Here you go.” She then handed him the ring… his ring… that was supposed to be for her. “I tried to look for a name but I couldn’t find one but maybe you can.”
Now that he was holding it, he didn’t exactly know how to salvage this. Was he just supposed to say: surprise, this is actually for you. Willow Park, will you marry me? No. Willow deserved better than that.
So he pretended to look for a name, knowing full well that there wasn’t one on there. “Yeah, I don’t see anything either.” Then he handed the ring back to her.
They continue their walk back to the entrance of the beach in relative silence. Each step Hunter took, felt like a rock entering his stomach. He wanted nothing more than to go back in time and just have a do-over.
Once they made it to the entrance, Hunter watched in silence as Willow gave away the ring to the cashier. Was he supposed to just come back here later and get it? Whatever the solution was, it was now a problem for future Hunter.
They stepped out of the shack and now all Hunter could think was what’s next? This night took a massive left turn and didn’t go as planned.
Hunter’s lips were practically glued together at this point. He didn’t know what to say or do next.
“I completely forgot,” Willow said, completely unaware of Hunter’s mental turmoil. “What was it you wanted to tell me earlier?”
It probably would’ve been less painful if she had decided to kick him in the stomach. But he had to keep himself calm. He hoped that when this is all over, it’ll just be a funny story to tell at the holidays. “It’s not important. Do you have any ideas?”
You told me to buy a pony.
She thought about it for a while, then came up with a good solution. “Do you want to get ice cream?”
All he could muster out at this point was just a simple “sure.”
But all I wanted was you.
The rest of the night was fine. There was an ice cream shop nearby and ice cream is always great.
Despite the embarrassment that he would have to face in the near future, this night wasn’t a complete disaster. He still got to spend time with one of favorite people and got ice cream afterwards.
Ylsuoires erom esnesnon koot ew fi retteb eb dlorw eht t’ndluow?
I should probably get on that homework now.
