CRUEL INTENTIONS — Dark!Soldier Boy x female reader
Tumblr media
Word count: 590 (oops).
Genre: dark stuff, smut.
Warnings: dark!soldier boy, dub-con, p in v smut, mentions of pain, dacryphilia, innocent!reader, corruption, degradation, soldier boy is obsessed with reader.
Tumblr media
Since the first time he saw you around the Vought building, Soldier Boy knew he had to have you. No matter what. Having you under his mercy was his ultimate goal.
You were a new secretary around. So innocent, so pure, and full of life and joy, getting into the supe business making boring tasks and jobs designated to women like you. But Soldier Boy saw you enjoying all of that. You always arrived early to work, with a smile that would brighten the day of any idiot by your side. Your laugh was sweet and perfectly created to be ruined, only by him. To your lovely voice to be converted into pleas and cries.
After days of not so subtly hitting on you, playing the nice gentleman, he had you under his skin using lies and a couple of threats. Soldier Boy remembered the way you accepted his invitation to his annual ‘private party’ without specifying any further details. The party that was Herogasm. And now, he fucked you into oblivion over a rustic wood desk, taking in the tightness of your cunt around his dick and the sinful moans slipping from your sore throat. His eyes taking in the sinful sight of his cock entering your tight pussy, walls clenching around him yet again as you reached your peak. Soldier Boy already lost count of how many times he had made you cum.
“Fuck, you’re so good for me,” he hissed. His thrusts never stopped, instead increased their rhythm. “Look how much you’ve come because of my cock. Am I that good, my little slut?”
You looked away, shutting your eyes closed as you felt another orgasm building inside you, pleading with a broken voice. “Please, please…”
The tears were already coating your flushed face, ashamed of what was happening and not sure if it was right. He was just using you. But at the same time, you wanted more of him. Soldier Boy already bent you over every surface of the room, ripping orgasm after orgasm from you, handling you like if you were just a mere ragdoll for him to play with as much as he wanted, taking you apart from the whole orgy that was showing outside. He was fucking insatiable, barely getting rid of his helmet and just taking out his hard cock to fuck your mouth and then get buried inside your tight cunt. At first, you weren’t sure about letting him fuck his way with you, but his voice and promises of pleasure were more than sufficient to somehow give in.
“Jesus Christ, your pussy feels like heaven,” he breathed, increasing the tightness of his grip on your hips.
Even if your thighs felt like burning, that your whole body was under ache due to the hard grips on you, you needed him. And he was going to make you his little plaything. He smirked as you, one more time, dissolved into the sweet and painful pleasure of cuming around his girth, letting out a sinful moan that mingled with the animalistic sounds of women and men fucking like beasts outside the room. He hissed with anticipation, his lustful eyes lingering over your teary face as he slowed down his thrusts. Fuck, he wanted nothing more but to make you cry harder.
“Sweetheart, I still need to cum,” he purred, wiping the tears rolling down your skin.
You sobbed, catching your breath. “I’m tired.”
“Just a couple more rounds, you’ll do it, baby.”
Soldier Boy was being kind to you. Next time he wouldn’t go that easy.

miles.g / wiles
.。.+*☆ headcannons 👾💭
Tumblr media
contents: general hcs, mention of his father’s death, i call 42-miles ‘wiles’, me sorta bullying him
a/n: after a lot of procrastination and harassment gentle encouragement from @vhstown i’m finally posting my hcs. :3c (they’ve been sitting here since july)
Tumblr media
Despite his tough guy exterior and criminal career, he's actually a massive nerd geek. Like: gundham, comics, posters all over his room.
Until you bring up those interests, he won't mention them. But once you start a conversation about them, he can tell you all the lore front to back or tell you where and when each collectible is from. Just listening to Wiles and nodding along will make his day.
Accepting help from others is not an option. Ever. He's an overly D.I.Y guy since his father's death and it's staying that way.
... unless you're very close to him. Wiles will begrudgingly accept your help and then be adamant on repaying you. No matter how trivial it was, he'll show his gratitude through service.
Wiles has great memory and knows all the lyrics to his favourite songs. Go through his playlist and pick something at random- he'll recite them flawlessly!
A good memory also helps with remembering those flashes of songs playing on your lock screen. Just a split second glance? He's adding it to his playlist, maybe listening to it as he works on his latest gear.
Would be a straight A student if he were there half the time. The only thing keeping his total grades down is attendance, where he’s often absent.
However, if he’s in a group project with you, Wiles will put more effort into it. Getting a ‘C’ or GPA point lower is fine if it means keeping Brooklyn safer. What’s not fine is him being the reason for your lower marks.
Unlike his counterpart from 1610, Wiles’ art is more realistic. He tries to capture the subjects’ essence quickly and minimally, so colours are an afterthought.
Accuracy was his pride in art until it came to you. He’d be so nervous in getting your smile right, scribbling failed attempts over and over again. Wiles even resorted to a pencil sketch.
Following the passing of Jefferson, Wiles has gotten much closer to Rio. That’s a no brainer; he was fourteen— a kid. And Jefferson never got to see his son in that overpriced Visions uniform.
Wiles makes an effort to speak more Spanish. He lets his mamí braid his hair even if it hurts like hell. Those stupid telenovelas aren’t that bad on the second watch.
Once upon a time, Wiles used to be a choir boy (keyword: used). He’d love singing hymns and doing nativities before he could read; all for his mamí and dad to see.
However, the christmas after Jefferson’s passing felt… empty. Wiles quickly lost his passion for choir and now just attends mass with Rio at most.
After years of experience being a choir boy, Wiles has the voice of an angel. Not that you’d know, of course— he intends to take that to the grave. But there’s also a deeper, darker secret… he can’t rap to save his life.
An extremely personal and harrowing Musically comment told him so. Following that attack, twelve year old Wiles abandoned his account with only a black profile picture left behind.
Like any other middle schooler, Wiles had a hype beast phase (he denies it). When Aaron got a Hype shirt for Wiles’ 12th birthday, words couldn’t describe how he almost knocked Aaron down with a hug.
The shirt’s first stain had Wiles distraught and furiously searching ‘remove paint on shirt hacks’ on Youtube. His heart would probably stop if he misplaced a gift from you.
Wiles isn’t the best cook, but he can definitely make himself a good meal. With Rio working night shifts and Uncle Aaron doing… jobs, he has to be self-sufficient.
A secret lil’ side project: he’s trying and failing to replicate Jefferson’s mac ‘n cheese. It wasn’t the best, but it was his. Something’s always off when Wiles makes it and he’s not quite sure what.
Sure, cooking isn’t that hard, but baking is like wizardry to Wiles. AP Chemistry and it’s endless calculations felt way easier than making pan de agua with his mamí.
But, mamí didn’t raise no quitter! On a particularly busy birthday, Wiles pulled together a modest little cake for Rio. She burst into tears seeing the shaky ‘!Feliz Cumple!’ written in too-sweet icing.
Calling Earth-42 a wreck is a massive understatement. Shit’s like Gotham, only very real and very deadly. Just breathing in that damn city air makes Wiles’ skin crawl.
Luckily, he’s got an outlet: boxing. A fun hobby he picked up from Uncle Aaron became his release. Wiles might never be in the ring, but Brooklyn’s more than enough.
Tumblr media
a/n #2: what the fuck. this was supposed to be short and silly and fun. exsqueeze me how did this… erm. disjointed mess.

Tumblr media
Alrighty, here we are again
previously, in harrowcita the ninth:
this happened
currently, after ch. 2 (once again, I wanted to read more but realized these notes were too long):
first off, I need to point out something very important
reading the first part of gideon, this was how the dynamic of her and harrow felt like, from gideon's pv in the first chapter or two
Tumblr media
this is what it actually was like, now that I have harrow's pv
Tumblr media
so, now that we've cleared that up, let me tell you about the emperor
I don't know about this guy
something's not adding up for me
I feel like he's either lying, telling half-truths that benefit him or he doesn't know what he's doing
and none of those options are very god-tier
he's also constantly going like "harrow, I'm gonna let you choose" and five minutes later he's "oh, actually, you never had a choice to begin with, I'm so sorry about that"
I don't think you're sorry if you've done it like 3 times since we've met you
maybe say what you actually mean, unless you're full of lies
Tumblr media
he takes harrow on a walk through the clown death star ship he's got going on
and takes her to his coffin hangar
shows her coffins of the people he made to send to the ninth
the new ninth people
aiglamene is gonna have to work overtime
(I can't believe I've never forgotten her name)
and then there's coffins for all the little friends we made in canaan house
:) ♥
except there are a bunch missing people
let me just note the info we got
the second says "no human remains inside"
last we saw them, martita was KO and judith was bleeding to death
nobody from the third as well, and we already have suspicions about wtf is happening with these parsley and cilantro twins
from the sixth, one is empty because CAMILLA ISN'T DEAD GODDAMMIT
the other one has little pieces of palmolive in it
me picking up the pieces of palmolive from the decor of canaan house
Tumblr media
there is one coffin for not!dulcinea
Tumblr media
the emperor guy says he's taking her with the other lyctors
as long as he flushes afterwards, it's fine
we are, by the way, trying very hard to not mention gideon ever, apparently
just wanna point out real quick that THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE UNACCOUNTED FOR and this guy is GOD so he's doing a terrible job
or he's not saying all he knows
or both
all this time, ice cube barbie is tagging along
ice cube barbie is harrow's babadook, which I stan tbh
since she's here to stay, let me show you another pic of that doll because it's my favorite from the haunted beauty collection
Tumblr media
so, the emperor starts telling harrow what they're fighting against (or escaping from) and where they came from
this man explains what he wants and leaves out what he wants
at one point, when harrow asks something like "how will you explain all the dead people?" he goes like
Tumblr media
he asks harrow about death and the process of it and she says, at one point:
"In cases of apopneumatic shock, where death is sudden and violent, the energy burst can be sufficient to countermand osmotic pressure and leave the soul temporarily isolated. Whence we gain the ghost, and the revenant."
this is important for the later conversation about revenant beasts, which are the things that the emperor is having trouble with
but I highlighted it because I am adding it to my notes of "reasons why gideon could be not dead forever"
I am holding on to all the hope I can get
because if sudden violent death can leave the soul temporarily isolated and not do the due process of transitioning to the river or whatnot
and gideon isn't within harrow or whatever
maybe
maybe she's somewhere else
I don't know, let me have this, don't tell me anything, just
LET ME HAVE THIS
so yeah, basically the story is that the emperor is running away from nine revenant beasts, which were created during the resurrection, when a planet was blasted off
nine beasts like nine houses
there's three left now
I don't know about all of this, you guys
I don't have enough context and I don't trust this guy here
how do I know where we stand in all this?
what if he's not the good guy and what he did was some planetary bullshit to begin with?
what if the other side is the good guys?
what if he's killed by one of our heroes? like harrow or gideon or camilla?
because he's actually a false god jerk?
what if I kill him????
and then we have two last important things
first, barbie ice cube speaks now
love that for her
Tumblr media
then, very crucial
the non-gideon mentioning seems to be a Thing
I don't know if I'm understanding correctly but
the emperor mentions ortus
ortus, the one we knew, our old pal from the ninth
and I got the feeling, idk if I got it, that he just assumed ortus was the cavalier she had with her
because 1) he didn't go down there and 2) no body was recovered
and then harrow also mentions ortus, but she says he "died thinking it was the only gift he was capable of giving" and that she "wasted it" and idk if she did that because she's blocking sad memories, she's confused because she's Not Doing Great Mentally Right Now, she doesn't wanna tell the emperor what actually happened, or all three
there's stuff about ortus I don't know, but that sounds to me more like what gideon said than what ortus "Got Blown To Bits With Mom In Ship" did
and then the emperor says his name again with suspicion and I'm like
I think this clown doesn't know
I think he doesn't know about gideon
I think he doesn't know about gideon or who gideon actually is
which we don't know yet either but it's probably important
because she's hercules, as previously established
I think maybe gideon is an outlier
an important planetary outlier
I have hopes
also, another day without camilla
Tumblr media
god (not this one) I hope I can make shorter recaps but there's so much happening, I'm so sorry

Tumblr media
a/n: hey guys. Back from the dead. I’m currently crazy about william afton.
William had always been an assertive man, you don’t start a business by being a pushover he’d say. In life he’d found that if he wanted something, really wanted something, you’re going to have to push some people out of the way to get it.
William has found that his desire for control has expanded to all parts of his life. He chose a cover up job where he controls other’s careers and opportunities, he controls eight foot tall beasts he created and tamed, he even controls who lives and dies, but by far his favorite thing to control was you. You were like a sweet little doll to him, he’d dress you up in the clothes he bought and had tailored just for you, standing in front of the closet in the mornings deciding what you should wear that day while you softly dozed in bed. He tells you the things he’d like done around the house, sometimes even writing a list for you. He loved thinking of you scurrying around throughout the day, doing everything to please him.
Tonight he’s in a mood, unexpected circumstances had dampened his plans throwing him off schedule he decides to go home early only to find that his darling isn’t there. You had gone out for the dry cleaning. He sat on the couch, stewing over his frustrations over the day, nothing had gone to plan, he felt out of control which he so desperately needed, and his favorite toy wasn’t home to play with. He thinks of you, how your body feels against him when he holds you, how small you are in comparison to him. In his mind he sees himself holding your face in his hand, he sees how his long fingers wrap around your head and watches as his hands smooth back your hair into a handful, he yanks your hair and you let out a delicious whimper.
The sound of keys in the door snap him back to reality where his pants are now considerably tighter and you’re walking through the front door. “You’re home early” you say as you hang up your coat and William’s jackets in the closet. You were happy to see his car in the driveway at first until you realized that William was home early for a reason “did something happen at work?” you ask, stepping down into the conversation pit in your home. William was a sight to behold, his tie extremely loose, his shirt mostly unbuttoned revealing his wife beater and a sprinkle of chest hair. Big powerful thighs spread dominating the couch, his pants straining to contain his erection. “I’m not talking about work with you.” his voice rumbles out, you walk over to him concerned “well why not? Maybe I could help-” he cuts you off “the only way you’re going to help me right now is getting the fuck over here and doing exactly what I say. Starting with stripping right now and then taking off my pants. Understood slut?” you stand, dumbfounded at the outburst, a pit of arousal forms in your stomach and before you brain has caught up your body has already started taking off your clothes as you walk over to him.
Now nude you kneel at his feet, you hands shake as you unbutton his pants and slide the zipper down, you lean down and press a kiss to his clothed cock when he grabs your hair and forces you to look up at him “I don’t have the patience for this right now, I told you to take off my pants. I expect you to listen to me whore.” you nod desperately up at him, tears prick in your eyes, he releases your hair and leans back, he looks huge above you, you feel small and insignificant. He loves it.
You pull his pants down, his hard cock springing out he lets out a sigh of relief as he grabs it and lightly begins stroking himself, you try and remain focused on your task to please him, you slide his pants the rest of the way off and look up at him for your next instruction, eyes flicking back down to the movement of his hand but forcing yourself to look at him. He snaps at you then points to the spot directly between his legs. You scramble to kneel right where he wants you. Your head is surrounded by his hairy thighs, you nearly go cross eyed watching him touch himself right in front of you. Your mouth begins to water at the sight and smell of him. He dominates your senses and you look to him like one might look up to a god in a time of prayer. He is your god, this is your prayer. His long thick cock was so hard it looked beyond angry, bordering on painful. When his hand is at his base, he pulls back then slaps his cock onto your face, you gasp at the sensation, his hot length now resting on your face, his tip leaks precum into your hairline as he chuckles at your face.
He grabs the back of your head and roughly shoves your face into his crotch, he begins to roughly hump and grind into your face, you sputter and attempt to push back but he keeps you there, now pushing your head down further, he laughs at your pathetic attempts to free yourself. As he holds you there you have no choice but to breathe in the undeniable smell of man, you stop fighting, going limp in his hold. William is elated “you like how I bury your face in my cock huh baby? you like breathing in my filthy fucking cock? yeah. yeah I know you do." he groans as you look up at him from under his cock. “Open up baby, cmon open up your mouth for daddy” you do, and instead of pulling you up so you could suck his cock, he positions you so that his heavy, full balls fill your mouth “put your mouth to good use, suck and lick me slut” burying your face further into his groin you suckle and lap desperately at his sack, flicking the seam with your tongue while he moans. When he grows bored he pushes you further down, surely he cant want you to- “did I fucking tell you to stop licking? Keep moving that hungry little tongue around.”
Cockdrunk and dizzy from his smell you lick further down pressing your lips to the patch of skin separating his balls from his hole you hum, the vibrations cause him to let out a noise you didn’t think he was capable of making. His thighs squeeze around your head and you rub your tongue further and further down “you’re such a nasty fucking slut” he grits out “sucking my balls is one thing but you really are a depraved filthy little whore for eating my ass” you whimper, causing him to groan “I bet you fucking like it, don’t you bitch? I’ll bet you love eating daddy’s ass” he releases your head, you gasp for air. “Say it” he spits at you “say ‘I’m a filthy slut who loves eating daddy’s ass’” you whimper and heave for him “I’m a f-filthy sslut who loves” your voice shakes and you pull in a deep breath “I’m a filthy slut who loves eating daddy’s ass” William laughs at your submission, wide bloodshot watery eyes looking up at him, hair sticking up and out, mouth glazed in your own spit, you look pathetic. You look perfect.
“Then you’re really gonna love letting daddy fuck your throat then” without anymore warning he grabs your hair and shoves you down onto his cock “if I feel any teeth, I’ll knock em out.” he reaches the back of your throat, he pulls back and shoves you back onto his cock again, and again and again until he manages to bully his way down into your throat. You choke and gag and try and push him away but that only sets him off and he pushes you down further and further on his dick all the while muttering and demanding that you “Take it. Fucking take it. That’s right, open up that throat for daddy”.
Your nose is flattened against his pubic mound, his heavy balls, slick with your spit, lay mockingly on your chin. He pats your cheek “good cocksleeve. You fit me all the way down honey” you gurgle pathetically as a response, he just smiles condescendingly and runs his hand down your throat, feeling himself through you “I’m really in there aren’t I baby? Stuffed one of my fuckholes really full huh?” he pulls out halfway and for a moment you think he’s giving you a moment of reprieve, one second to get a good breath out of your mouth rather than shallow sniffles that get harder and harder as your sinuses fill in response to your gagging, but he doesn’t pull out. He shoves you back down and he thrusts forward causing a crude wet ‘slap’ as his balls hit your chin. He does it again and again and again, he moans and groans and grits out curse words, you garble and choke and gag, your throat schlucks and spit pours out of your mouth all the while his balls mercilessly slap slap slap against your chin.
You start to go limp in his hold, lack of oxygen getting to you “Is my cumbucket getting a little drowsy down there?” he slows down and slaps at your face “stay awake slut I know how much you must love suffocating on my fucking dick. Probably like it more than air anyways you cockhungry little thing” you get enough air to keep you conscious but dizzy, and William starts back up again.
Soon his thrusts get shaky and erratic, “Fuck, bunny I’m about to cum” he grits out fucking harder into your throat “I’m about to fucking cum and you’re, you’re gonna swallow all of it” he lets out a breath “not that you’ll have much of a choice, I’m practically in your stomach, just gonna pump you full with it baby. I’m gonna fill your tummy with daddy’s seed, you'd like that wouldn't you?” his voice gets shakier “fuck your little throat is gonna make me cum, and you’re gonna take it all like a good little cum rag aren’t you?” his sack continues to slam into your chin “my fucking cum bucket, holding all of daddy’s seed all nice for him, and you fucking love it.” he nods to himself “you love being full of daddy’s cum so fucking take it!” he yells out “Take it take it! Fucking take it!” Rope after rope shoot straight down your throat into your stomach, you could practically feel the warm thick liquid fill your stomach, his hips twitched as he rode out his orgasm, everytime he seemed finished another shot would rush out until eventually he released your head and his limp wet cock fell from you lips.
You coughed and rasped while air rushed back into your lungs. Your jaw ached, your throat was demolished, your scalp stung, even your nose felt smashed from how roughly he held you there.
William moved to you, gathering you in his arms, breathing heavily, he rubbed your back soothingly, and smiled at you gently as he wiped away your mascara tracks. You looked so vulnerable, so fragile, so delicate and breakable. “You were so good baby” he pets your hair “my sweet thing did so well, made daddy feel so good.” he coos at you “love you so much baby, so so good for me” You give him a wobbly smile to let him know you're okay. “Let me get you some water huh sweetheart?” he wraps you up with a blanket when he runs to the kitchen to grab you some water, rushing back as quickly as he could not wanting to be separated.
You are so small at this moment and he loves how powerful he feels. Taking you apart is delightful, but putting you back together was good for him too. The way you cling to him and need him is intoxicating.
That night William makes dinner and serves it to you. He sits next to you, never across and basks in your presence. He bathes you, and tucks you in, and when you curl in next to him and he wraps his arms around you he can only look at you with adoration, you’re his most prized possession, he’s enamored with you, crazy about you. And after pressing a kiss to your head, his last thoughts before drifting off were of you and how maybe this is all he’ll ever need.

How is my favorite ball of floof, Sal?
I was just writing him today while waiting in the doctor's office 👀 he's good, he's good. Living his best life. Meeting one of his soon to be bestest friends ever
//////////////
The door swung up open before she could even finish her third knock.
Clarke felt all the air escape right out of her lungs.
Because framed in the picturesque doorway was - possibly, potentially, easily debatable once her brain would start working again - one of the most beautiful women Clarke had ever seen in her thirty nine years of life.
Just… not the one she'd expected.
“Can I help you?”
Clarke blinked back at the rounded, deep amber eyes that stared at her in gentle questioning. Blinked at the sight of a messy curled bob of black hair that fell carelessly across the elegant line of petite shoulders. Dark brown skin looked almost velvety in the shadowed threshold between inside and out, and Clarke physically swayed foward on her toes just to catch a stronger whiff of her floral perfume.
Mentally rolling her tongue back up into her skull, Clarke recovered enough to lean a sharp hook at the waist toward the left, just far enough to take another glance at the house number tacked on the side.
‘Hm… Yep, I can still read…’
“I uh...” Clarke managed to right herself and actually stammer out loud when whatever celestial being she was gawking at only continued to look at her with serene patience, “Does, uh… Does Lexa live here?”
“Yes?”
Clarke frowned when nothing else came. “O-kay… Is she… Is she here right now?”
“Well I certainly hope so. Otherwise I'm breaking and entering.” White teeth shined in a perfectly aligned row when this riddle-baring goddess's lips bent into a teasing smile. But rather than feeling like the punchline of some joke she was being left out of, the effect of this sweet angel faced woman's charm only made Clarke smile in return.
Before she could reconfigure the slog of words bumping around in her brain, a clatter of lazy tip-tap tip-taps grew loud enough to jerk Clarke's attention toward a rather large and decidedly hairy nose wedging its way into the exchange. A nose became a muzzle, became a panting white, black, and brown face. One with droopy eyes and even droopier jowls that nudged the door-guardian out of its way.
“Dude, c'mon.” Those ridiculously white teeth flashed in another soul brightening smile as the woman pushed herself away from where she'd been hip-checked into the door, and gave the beast-sized brute of a Saint Bernard a few scratches on the head. “Manners, my guy. What would your mother say about this kind of violence?”
Doleful eyes slid shut in a look of ecstasy at the rake of fingernails through his coat of cowlick laden fur.
A distant echo of muddled footsteps had the beautiful stranger turning, craning around to look behind her into the shadows of the house, which seemed entirely like an open invitation for Clarke to lift up on her toes and chance a peek into the darkeness beyond as well. Nothing gave itself away even as the padding of steps drew closer. Clarke rocked back onto the flat of her feet just before the door widened enough for another face to fit into the bizarre tableau, though it was the one single face that helped Clarke stop feeling like she needed to have an evaluation done of her own sanity.
“What is the hold up out here— Clarke,” Lexa breathed as a smile lit up her blessedly familiar face. Glasses propped on top of her head and normal school attire button down exchanged for a tight knit Henley, the sudden vision of this entirely different version of Lexa added itself to Clarke's mental catalog of the woman. Lexa slipped past the mountain of a dog, giving it an absent command of ‘Back it up, big man,’ along with a snap and a point at the floor beside her that seemed sufficient enough to have him reversing several feet out of her way. She elbowed past the woman in the doorway to beckon Clarke inward with a wave of her hand. “Sorry, I didn't know it was you. Come in. You're early.”
“Uh, yeah. I hope that's not a problem.” Clarke floundered as she stepped in at the urging, eyes darting between Lexa and the dog who'd sat itself in a flop of limbs at her side, and the stranger now silently watching it all.
“Not even a little.” The easy cadence of Lexa's words only helped to ease a fraction of Clarke's nerves. “You just said you couldn't make it for another couple hours.”
Clarke tugged upward at the collar of her sweater that suddenly felt a touch too revealing. “I dropped Madi off with her dad a little early. Much to her numerous complaints.”
The soft tilt of Lexa's lips dipped into a frown. “Everything okay?”
“Of course. Just, getting her to understand that I actually had plans was met with great disdain. It's a theme we've developed, she and I. Ever since she's gotten her license, she doesn't seem to understand the concept that my car is not somehow now her car.”
Lexa's face relaxed into a kind of relieved understanding. “Ah, I see. A driving teenager. I don't envy you.”
“We're braver than the marines,” Clarke said amidst a roll of her eyes.
In the quiet and fondness of Lexa's smile, Clarke let herself uncoil another fraction of an inch. She returned the soft sweetness of that green-eyed gaze with a herculean effort to not be the first to reach out. She'd pictured this moment more than a few times on the drive over - a few hundred more the previous evening, if she were being honest - but where'd she'd fantasized about just grabbing the woman and kissing her very pretty face off, possibly backing her into a hazy and ill-defined wall to have her way with her the second she would walk in, Clarke found herself rather perplexingly stuck to the spot. Unmoving in the relief of being in Lexa's space again. Unrushed and content to keep sharing smiles like a couple of idiots.
It was only an inelegant ruffle of fur and flapping jowls that broke the moment, followed immediately by a rather wet sounding sneeze prompting Clarke to finally drag her gaze away.
“You have a dog.”
Lexa glanced down at the mountain of black and tan fur at her side and back up. “I told you that I have a dog.”
“Uh, no,” Clarke laughed at that wild understatement and gestured to the device in her hand as though proof enough. “You text me an hour ago, ‘You're not allergic to dogs, right?’ And when I said no, you marked it with a thumbs up.”
Lexa seemed to pause in thought as her teeth worried at the plumped corner of her bottom lip. “... I did do that.”
“You did.”
“Okay, I think I might see where the breakdown in communication happened.”
“Solid work, Professor,” said a voice that drifted from over Lexa's shoulder.
“Your input isn't appreciated,” Lexa said to the startlingly still present but unidentified goddess hovering near the door. Forcing down a rather painful looking swallow as she nudged the glasses more securely up the slope of her nose, Lexa buried the obvious lede in the room and instead gestured to the hulking pile of dog sitting patiently where Lexa had left him. “Right, so I suppose introductions are in order then. Sal. This is Clarke. Clarke, this is my dog Sal. Sal, say hello.”
As if on cue, a giant paw went up in a clumsy mimic of a wave.
Clarke let out a surprised chuckle at the display, waving back on instinct before realizing that she was, in fact, waving at a dog. She let her hand drop. Idiot. “Hey, Sal. He's a… big guy, huh?”
“I'm convinced he's part moose,” Lexa sighed with an affectionate ruffle of Sal's ear. “In my defense, he was not this imposing when I got him.”

omg hi !! about your leo valdez post I was thinking that a good song would be "love story"
My best friend helped me write this because I was stuck stuck but I loved the prompt and saw so much potential so I couldn't just not do it so shoutout to them fr ❤️
Love Story
Tumblr media
You were nervous. It was now winter break, and you were going home to visit your mortal family. This wasn't what you were nervous about, you loved them and you were excited to see them. The part you were nervous about was Leo. He was supposed to be going with you, staying with your family for the break. And your family hated Leo.
You didn't know why they felt this way, but you knew that when you had proposed the idea of Leo staying with you, they had turned up their noses. They had said yes, wanting you to be happy, but it was clear that Leo wasn't exactly welcome.
You had tried to warn him and apologize for whatever they might say or do, but he just smiled. "No sweat, corazón," he had said. "I can make anyone like me." Yeah... right.
The first week of winter break was... awkward. You'd spend time with Leo, but he wasn't allowed in your room. He would sleep in the guest room and you'd have meals together, but they were always tense. Your family grilled him with questions, but no matter what he said, he just didn't earn any points with them.
It wouldn't be until Christmas Day, when a horribly-timed chimera would attack your family's home, that Leo would gain their approval. It was 6:37pm, and you were just about to sit down for Christmas dinner, when it burst through the living room window, shattering it and causing your half-siblings to scream.
Thankfully, you and Leo were able to keep its focus away from your mortal family, but unfortunately, that meant it was focused on you. You and Leo fought side by side, him pulling item after item out of his toolbelt and setting traps, while you used your fanciest footwork and your (weapon of choice) training at camp to keep it sufficiently distracted.
It worked well for a bit, but one missed step can mean a lot in battle. You had stepped a bit too close to the beast, and one of its lion paws smacked you back, hard. You went flying backwards into the wall, hitting your head and slumping down to the ground.
You couldn't breathe.
You knew that you had to get up, you needed to help Leo kill this thing and protect your family, but you couldn't breathe or move, and your head was swimming.
What Leo saw was his partner, who he loved more than anything, get thrown against the wall. He saw you lying motionless on the floor, the chimera stalking towards you, its mouths salivating. He began to panic before jumping into action.
He jumped on its back, delaying its journey to you, but was ultimately thrown off. He became desperate and leaped in front of you, summoning fire to cook the sucker. Unfortunately, the chimera had the same idea. Fortunately, however, Leo was fireproof. The chimera was not. With one last bleat-roar, the monster turned to dust and crumbled to the carpet.
Immediately, Leo came over to you to see if you were alright. He helped you sit up and held your face in his hands, asking a million questions that you could only answer one at a time.
"I'm okay, Leo, really. You saved my life, thank you." He blushed a deep crimson but smiled. "Hey, I'm your super-awesome flame-throwing boyfriend. It's my job, mi rosa."
You were about to reply when your family came in from the doorway. "That was... what just happened?" Your step-parent looked confused. Your mortal parent just looked distressed. "Are you alright, y/n? What was it this time?"
Leo helped you off the floor and you faced your family. "Chimera, and I'm okay, thanks to Leo."
Your (mom/step mom) hurried over to Leo, grabbing his face in his hands before kissing his cheeks several times. "Thank you, Leo. You saved our y/n's life." She smiled at him before letting go of his face and hugging you tight. "Nah, it's nothing. I'd do anything for them." Leo blushed deeper, if that were possible.
Your (dad/step dad) made his way to the both of you, hugging you before patting Leo's shoulder. "You alright, kid?" Leo nodded, absolutely awestruck. He was talking to Leo! And there was no disgust in his eyes!
Sure, Christmas dinner had been a disaster, but Leo had gotten your parents' approval out of it, so he took it as a win.
~
The two of you still had to get the monster dust out of the carpet, though.

I'm doing this shang tsung MY WAY!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which ignoring canon that he was in. And placing him in my version of mortal kombat. (Which aligns more to the original timelines)
So a young shang tsung, who was once an earthrealm warrior, felt betrayed and was cohersd by shao kahn to join his court in outworld and fight on "his side" so to speak.
As for the dark magic/soul magic. He was always curious, but only curious. He only dived deeper because he was 1. Forbade to without so as much as a decent explanation on why it's "forbidden" and 2. Because he was trying to help earthrealm in any way possible,by any means. But he was again told no. So in his mind. It's like "wtf do you want me to do? It's like i bring a solution and you don't like me playing by the rules you created, which i try to follow yet. I get it spat back in my face" type deal. Course there's nuance to this and it's mainly raidens falt for not telling shang properly and handling things better. And yes, shang was his chosen and student before great lao. Great lao came in a tad bit later. Then came the tournament. He was actually trained by the shadow priests, who worked for shao kahn but revered shang. As they saw a prodigy in him. And magic aside. That man was a fucking excellent warrior, deadly as is. Add sorcery to him and he's a beast. <3
But anyways
Like i have a whole backstory more on shang tsung and i feel alan lee's shang is a good baby days shang tsung. Freshly cursed, freshly courtly mage, etc.
Tumblr media
When we get tagawa's shang,is only after he gets his island. Which i hc was given to him by shao kahn as a gift. He wasn't gonna use it. So it was shang's dominion. In doing so he kinda fucked up because now, shang tsung was a lord of his own realm or pocket dimension. He has full jurisdiction and power over his island. The island's natural soul well was fortified to work in shang AND ONLY SHANG TSUNGS favor. He made the island self sufficient. (More on shang's island in another post) now. Only after spending years there, gaining knowledge, power, secrets, etc and a bit of forcefed defeat. Does our lovely sorcerer become more of the shang tsung we know and love. Wisdom and decades even centuries of knowledge gained.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now back to young shang.
Young shang(alan lees shang/ mk12/mk1 shang) is a tad more prideful, maybe even jovial, always ever confident but in a youthful way. A spirit never breaking no matter how many times kicked down. These traits are amplified in his youth. He gets chiller and more relaxed and composed as he becomes more and more like out like elder shang tsung (tagawa's shang tsung/mk 95/mk11 shang) so that being said. Not too much difference, yet the aura is different and more of someone genuinely scholarly. Tagawa's shang is already a master,to get to that part. We need more development.
Now Lee's shang has great potential but i doubt that nrs ever would give him that genuine opportunity given how the script and story is being written. It feels its holding him back. And that kills me because it's such an amazing talent.
Tumblr media
Now a young shang tsung to me is ever the curious. Not that ever stopped. But in his youth,he was always asking why or how. He wants to just know. He has to know. That can bite him in the ass or save his ass. Either way that is a core trait.
Shang tsung not being given an opportunity to join earthrealms warriors is a crime and honestly really really stupid on nrs.
It's rushed and they know it but they dont care because $$$ and micro transactions...
Anyways. Young shang tsung to me also needed a lot of reassurance not because of that lack of confidence, nah it's more of a reminder of "is this good? Is this wise? Am i crazy for feeling this or is this pride getting in the way?" He is confident in skills,he is not with other aspects more so he just doesn't want to disappoint. And Because he doesn't want to screw things up for the long run. But as trial and error happens,he gets more confident in his decisions.
He has his moments too and showing vulnerability and humanity in antagonists is very important. But not done in a backhanded slap to the character and audiences intelligence. Which unfortunately mk12/mk1 kinda does unfortunately.
And honestly,i felt bad for him. More than i ever did.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, young shang tsung should be shown and given an opportunity to show with that an insight into shang's mind, heart, and things we actually don't see.
And some things in mk12/mk1 shang i absolutely am like "YES YES YES!" but because of everyone else,it's hard to enjoy because everyone else is insufferable.
Genuinely. Insufferable.
Like compared to shang tsung who gets something real, raw, human, believable, grounded, and interesting.
Nobody else in the story feels like characters, they feel like action figures playing along. And in a way that feels forced and fake to fit a boxed in trope. The script and writing feels ai generated.
Shang tsung seems to be the only one given some kinda agency and not even 100% either. It's not the greatest and it has flaws but by comparison it's great. Comparing that shang to every other shang tho? Kinda rushed and sloppy. And a disappointment. But it sucks because i want to really like that shang tsung.
So i jusy said fuck it. Im rewriting that shang.
Young shang tsung,mr. Alan lee. You deserve better. And honestly i think it's a wasted opportunity to have a shang centric game for once. It would be different, fun, and a change of pace.
Tumblr media
*kisses forehead* lemme save you from shitty narrative and writing shang. Plz.

Talkin mcd werewolves
Tumblr media
I always had such a spot spot for the mcd werewolves. Specifically, I really liked how they didn’t go down the Twilight route, keeping traditional anthro and scary designs and not doing Alpha bs (cough cough mystreet).
That being said, the werewolves felt kind of poorly defined to me, the tribes were more like plot devices, appearing and vanishing without any real discussion of the impact. The fact that Bodolf’s tribe was hardly mentioned in season 2 I think shows that they ran out of ideas for the werewolves.
Luckily my brain is absolutely overflowing with ideas about them, so here’s my redesigns and thought process:
To anthro or not to anthro?
While I really liked the choice of anthro werewolf designs, I absolutely suck at drawing anthros. It also felt weird doing that for child characters, I know the series kept kids as normal wolves but does that mean werewolf puberty involves an awkward transition from animal to anthro? It just kind of Icked me out, so I’ve decided to keep all werewolves as full wolf transformations. Unlike twilight though, I’ll be largely referencing Wolfwalkers.
Tribes
I know the series had four tribes, but so far I’ve only needed three for the story. If I ever need more tribes, I’ll add more. I haven’t named them yet either, so I’ll denote them by color for now.
Tumblr media
Red Wolves
Og wolf tribe, led by Bodolf and Khira. Wolves in this tribe are smaller than the other tribes, with shorter limbs, tails, and muzzles. They have light patches on their muzzles, above the eyes, and on their paws. Brown and Amber eyes are most common.
Brown Wolves
Yip’s destroyed tribe, and also the type Logan was turned into, hence Yip bonding with him so quickly. They are the largest and stockiest wolf tribe, with wide muzzles and short ears. They have lighter markings under their eyes, on their chests, and the underside of their tails. Green and hazel eyes are most common.
White wolves
Fenrir’s tribe. Medium-sized, but thin and lithe, almost more fox-like than wolf. Large ear tufts, neck ruffs, and tails make them look larger than they are. They have dark markings inspired by huskies. Blue and grey eyes are most common.
All tribes, despite size difference, are significantly larger than actual wolves, and most adults werewolves outweigh the average human.
Werewolf Creation
Werewolves can be born by having one or two werewolf parents. They can also be created by being bitten by a werewolf while in wolf form. The person will become the same tribe as the wolf that bit them. Children’s marking will usually follow basic genetics, but those bitten can develop markings independent of the appearance of the wolf that bit them.
Transformation
Tumblr media
Transformations, like in Wolfwalkers, are astral projections. The person does not physically transform, rather their consciousness leaves their body and manifests as a wolf. This most often occurs during sleep, but anything that causes a “disconnect” between mind and body can also cause the transformation. So being knocked unconscious, meditation, or sufficient intense emotion will also do the trick.
Communication
Werewolves in wolf form can still understand spoken language, but they cannot be understood by humans. Werewolves in human form can still understand werewolves in wolf form.
Injury
While transformed, the two forms are still linked. Injuries sustained to either form will transfer to the other. In the same way, so long as one body is being sustained, the other does not have sustain itself. Since the body is technically resting, the wolf does not need sleep, and so long as the wolf hunts, the body does not need food. Hypothetically, werewolves can remain transformed indefinitely. However, there are risks associated with this.
Lost werewolves
In the past, Werewolves were occasionally used in blood sport and hard labor. A massive beast of human intelligence that never needed sleep? It was easy to see why fighting arenas and military generals were eager to capture werewolves and use them for their own gain. Sometimes, they would manage to escape, but they no longer knew where their bodies were. Being separated from their bodies for long periods of time would essentially cause them to go feral. These “lost werewolves” are essentially immortal, the strength and instinct of a wolf combined with a faded but still present human cunning, and no need for sleep. The stigma of werewolves as dangerous is mostly due to the few cases of attacks by lost werewolves. This is what happened to Logan, and also what destroyed Yip’s tribe.
Leaders
No alpha crap in my version, we’re following actual wolf behavior with a leading couple. I don’t necessarily think the tribe is a fully related family unit like wolf packs, bringing new people into the tribes is actually quite common, but most of the tribes definitely follow the idea of “they are our leaders because they take care of us” not for any strength/bloodline reasons.
Now onto the werewolf characters I have so far!
Bodolf and Khira
Tumblr media
Leaders of the red wolves. Both have equal authority, though are quite different in their beliefs. Bodolf is more open to working with humans, whereas Khira is less trusting, and unless a human is joining their tribes wants very little to do with humans.
Logan
Tumblr media
Turned after an attack by a lost werewolf. Initially struggles with accepting this new part of himself, but becomes more comfortable with support from Donna and Yip. Gains his leader mark after fully accepting his role as Yip’s guardian. His growing family kind of symbolizes the regrowth of a tribe that was almost wiped out.
Yip
Tumblr media
Last surviving member of the original brown wolves. Was taken in by Donna and Logan while they searched for his tribe, and more importantly, his body. Eventually Logan and Yip find the ruins of Yip’s tribe, and after an epic showdown with the lost werewolf that turned Logan and attacked Yip’s tribe, are able to bring Yip’s body home.
Leona
Tumblr media
Child of Kiki and Zane. Initially human, she was born very weak, and Zoey didn’t have much hope she would survive. Desperate, Kiki took her to the Red Wolves, hoping that turning Leona would give her the strength she needed to make it through. Bodolf was out, so Kiki had to plead to Khira, who has never been fond of her. Khira initially refused, as she had no idea what effects turning a child would have. She also insisted that if she did it, Leona would have to stay with the tribe. Kiki was able to convince her otherwise, and Khira begrudgingly agreed to turn Leona. The turn was successful, and Leona’s health improved, though she has some developmental delays and stunting.
Donna
Tumblr media
Le gasp, a significant shift from canon! Not entirely sure if I want her to become a werewolf, but at the same time it would be incredibly cool and give her something else to do in season 2 besides generic mom. If she is turned, it was either an accident by Rollo/Lello, or she intentionally had Logan turn her. She gets her leader mark at this point.
Rollo and Lello
Tumblr media
Identical twins, both in human and wolf form. It can be difficult to tell them apart while transformed, though their personality differences make it clear who’s who very quickly. Rollo is energetic and playful, while Lello is more reserved.
Fenrir
Tumblr media
Prince of the White Wolves. Unlike the other tribes, during the timeskip his tribe has adopted many human practices. They live in a more traditional kingdom, and have more traditional power structures. For example, Fenrir’s mother has significantly less power than his father, and lacks the leader mark. Fenrir recognizes the problem with his tribe’s new practices, but doesn’t stand up to his father. He is kind, but also cowardly, and when push comes to shove his loyalty stays with his family. Takes the role of leader after his father is killed by Laurance.

Little Cho Yeong
Once upon a time, a bright-eyed young child (a daddy’s little girl) — barely 4 years old — was left to live alone in the wild mountains.
Tumblr media
At first, she often lost her way in the forest — from a food or a water source back to her tiny hut. No one searched for her, fretted about her, or drew a hot bath for her upon return.
Tumblr media
She did not have any guardian angels watching over her either. No one whose heart swelled with worry or who instinctively reached out to steady her when she fell from a tree or stumbled upon a rock or got bit by wild ants/bees.
Tumblr media
In cold, snowy winters, the little girl often starved as she struggled to find sufficient food.
Tumblr media
Bears and other wild beasts dwelled in the mountain forests around her. She once encountered a bear in a cave and lived to tell the tale as a bedtime story to Uk who then curled up into her warmth and slipped into sleep.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On nights when she felt lost or missed her father too much, the stars in the sky that her father recorded appeared on earth like fireflies or so she thought.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With sheer will & determination, she illuminated her own (cold, dark, lonely) path and survived. Life had not given her any other choice but to overcome fear and be strong/resilient.
Tumblr media
But now, that little girl is no longer alone. This time around she will be loved, protected, cherished, and completely & utterly doted upon.
Tumblr media
This is not only (baby wife-big husband energy) peak romance but much much more. It is absolutely cathartic to watch her being taken care of every step of the way. My heart breaks & breaks whenever I think of all the injustice metted out to her.

Greed's Possession
Mammon POV, 5.7k words
Warnings: ptsd, flashbacks, panic attack, spoilers for Nightbringer lessons 8-13 to 9-2 and information from the main Obey Me game
Summary: I just wanted to expand further on the premise of these lessons and information I learned from the main game. Seemed interesting to explore a defining moment in Mammon's life.
Ever since becoming one of the Seven Rulers of the Underworld, Mammon had taken a liking to wandering about the city nearest the House of Lamentation and checking out the shops along the street. There were so many things he’d never seen before, the Devildom was still a place he was getting used to, and with all the different gimmicks and gags it was like any day could be an adventure or opportunity to find something new.
He wasn’t about to try any new snacks though, not without someone else at his side. Winning one prize was enough to put him off the idea entirely.
But.
“Oh hello,” he stopped at the shop’s window and peered in closer. This shop seemed to specialize in jewelry and other little trinkets, bracelets and necklaces modeled on a few busts while rings glittered in glass cases nearest the window. So many jewels sparkling in a myriad of colors, but there was something in particular that caught his eye.
“Welcome,” a demon greeted him with a warm smile and raised a hand to beckon him inside, “I see you’ve a fine eye, would you care to come inside and admire our other wares?”
“O-Oh, uh…” He took a half step back, then caught himself. “Nah, I was just lookin’.”
The demon’s gaze drifted over him, her eyes sparkling not too unlike the jewelry he’d admired. “I don’t think I’ve seen you around before, are you new to the area?”
“Ah… sorta…” He looked down the street, unsure what to-
Wait a second.
He turned to her again with a coy grin, “I’m surprised you haven’t heard of me already, I’m one of the Seven Rulers of the Underworld.”
“Oh… wow,” she mused, sufficiently impressed. “You mean you were among the demons that tamed the beast? I had no idea.”
“That’s right,” he said, placing a hand on his hip with pride. “I was the one who led the whole thing too, I’m known as the Great Mammon.”
“The Great Mammon,” she repeated in awe, clasping her hands together and gazing at him adoringly. “Wow~ it would be such an honor if you came in to admire some of my work. Would you please?”
“Ah…” He hesitated, but her eyes sparkled again. Surely it wouldn’t hurt to browse for a few minutes? “Yeah sure, I got time.”
“Oh thank you!” She said, stepping to his side and looping her arms around one of his. “Please do come in, I’d be happy to show you around. Do you have a preference in the jewelry you wear?”
“Not… really,” he said, following her inside and looking around at the pendants adorning the walls. Some of them felt… different. Some glittered, but others felt… darker.
“Whatever looks good,” he said, and she tittered.
“Understandable. Well~ come this way,” she said as she led him further in the back toward one of the display cases. Inside were a variety of smaller accessories: rings, arm bands, bracelets, and ear cuffs. “For those that prefer to adorn without being overly flashy, I recommend these.”
“Huh,” he leaned over the case, admiring the polished gold and silver. “Why’s this stuff in a case if it ain’t as fancy as the stuff out front?”
She giggled again and walked around to the other end, unlocking the back door and picking up the ring display to set it before him.
“Simple, these are my most prized works,” she said, picking up a golden ring. “You see, I had to pay a pretty penny for a demon of greed to curse these for me.”
“Curse?” he repeated, straightening immediately. “Wait, why’re you tryin’ to sell me something cursed? I don’t want any of that.”
She laughed and leaned on the display case, rolling the ring between her fingers to catch a glint of light. “Are you sure?”
“Very sure.”
“But you don’t even know what the curse is~”
“And I don’t need to know,” he said stubbornly. Last time he got chased by a giant snake from an ice cream stick, he didn’t even want to think about what sort of curses could be attached to rings. “Thanks anyway, but I’m gonna—”
“It’s cursed to boost your luck,” she said just as he’d turned to go, “when you wear it, you have a higher chance at success.”
That didn’t sound like a curse.
Skeptical, he said nothing but it hardly mattered, she was still admiring the ring as she spoke.
“But of course, as I’m sure you know nothing is free~ the luck has to come from somewhere.”
“So does it make me unlucky too?”
She laughed, “Oh of course not! The luck is stolen from those around you, isn’t that nice?”
He frowned, “No, not really.”
Her smile turned to his direction and she set the ring down on the glass. “You former angels are so amusing, you know?” He tensed, but she didn’t seem to notice as she picked up a silver ring and placed it next to the gold, “But if you’re so concerned, you could counter the curse with a second.”
Counter a curse? He hadn’t even considered that.
“What’s that one do?”
She tapped a manicured nail on the silver, “This curse redirects any negative effects of curses onto the wearer, so,” she shrugged, “in theory, if you were to wear both, rather than stealing luck from around you, you’d be stealing your own.”
“But then how would that make me lucky?”
She smiled and leaned further onto the display case, lacing her fingers together and gazing up at him through her lashes. “Well~ there’s no way to know which you is stolen from. It could be the you before me now, or the you from yesterday, or the you from tomorrow.” She closed her eyes, “It’s a mystery, but doesn’t that sound exciting?”
“Not…” He looked down at the rings, silver and gold sitting side by side.
“Not… really…”
“The curses only take effect when worn, and could be given to a foe if they don’t end up favoring you.”
But why would he want to give someone something cursed?
“I’d be happy to offer a deal if you want to purchase them together.”
Did he really need more luck? It wasn’t like… well… more luck could mean more good things happening in his future. Good things for him and his family.
“Can I take ‘em off if I don’t wanna wear them anymore?”
She seemed taken aback by the question, then nodded with an amused flick of her tail. “Of course~ I don’t enjoy the nasty curses others might, I prefer to use them like the accessories we already wear.”
Demons did have a lot of tricky ways of dealing with things…
“How much would you want for them?”
Her eyes sparkled again and she picked up the rings, “Mm… well, individually I’d sell the gold for 80,000 and the silver for 65,000, but if you bought them together…” She closed her eyes to do some quick math, then smiled at him. “I’d be willing to part with them for 140,000 Grimm.”
“140— I don’t have that kinda money!”
She looked surprised, then pouted. “But I thought you said you were one of the Rulers of the Underworld. Surely you have some money, don’t you?”
He shook his head and shrugged, “Even if I did, 5,000 isn’t much of a discount. That’s barely three percent off.”
Her mood soured a bit, and she began to put the rings away. “I didn’t realize the Great Mammon was such a cheapskate.”
“Now wait a second-” He reached for the case but she snapped it shut. “I ain’t a cheapskate!”
She gave him a dismissive nod and returned the rings to their display, locking the glass door once more. “Well, if you ever change your mind you’re always welcome back.”
“Not likely, your stuff’s way too expensive,” he muttered and she sighed, but the sweet smile returned once more.
“I can show you some of our uncursed items, they’re made with the same quality but allow a purchaser to imbue them with their own curses and spells instead.” She said, already walking around to lead him to another display.
That sounded better, but…
His eyes lingered on silver and gold.
“Make it twenty.”
“Pardon?”
Silver and gold.
“Twenty percent off, and I’ll take ‘em.”
She laughed, “Are you mad? I’m not giving you twenty off.”
“How about fifteen?”
She raised a brow, “You can’t be serious.”
“Well…” he tore his gaze away, making his way toward the door. “With prices that high I can’t imagine those kinds of rings go fast, do they? I’d be interested, but only if you knock it down a little more.”
She pursed her lips again, eyes sizing him up and not appearing as sparkly as before.
“I’ll give you twelve,” she finally said.
“Yeah?” Something about gaining the upper hand in this negotiation made him feel… good. “Well alright~ I’ll be back to—”
“But,” She stepped up to him and held up a finger, “the deal only lasts until the end of the month. If you can’t pay by then, I’ll find a new buyer.”
Something about that felt strange, like he didn’t want to lose out.
“Sure, that sounds fair,” he said easily, “I’ll be back before you know it.”
Her eyebrow raised again, but she stepped back with a small nod. “I look forward to it, Great Mammon.”
And with that, he was freed. The captivation of her gaze left him and he stepped back out into the street, puzzled but… motivated too. If those rings really could help him, why not buy them? And if he couldn’t get enough money to buy them, it wouldn’t be a total loss.
But…
“Twelve percent would save me…” He tapped on his fingers, counting in his head. He hadn’t seen a lot of cursed jewelry before, so it was hard to go off market rate but if what she was selling really was legit then twelve percent off was nothing to sneeze at. Even if he didn’t end up using the rings for himself, maybe they could be useful for something else. He could even sell them again. The House of Lamentation was all old and creaky, more money would mean he’d be able to buy—
“That was impressive.”
He stopped and turned around, another demon standing behind him cloaked in black. Were they… talking to him?
“I don’t know if I’ve ever seen someone negotiate so easily with Cleo before,” they continued, “it was almost like her charms had no effect on you.”
“Charms? What charms?”
They chuckled, “Wow, you didn’t even notice? Your power must be vast.”
“I…” He looked around the streets, but other than this new guest no one seemed to pay him any mind. “Well yeah, of course it is. I’m the Great Mammon.”
“The Great Mammon?” They repeated, stopping to stand beside him. “One of the Seven Rulers of the Underworld? That Great Mammon?”
“Yeah,” he grinned, “Sounds like you’ve heard of me?”
They nodded, “Indeed I have, you’re making quite a name for yourself, you know. Not many were brave enough to even search for the beast let alone seek to tame it.”
“Ah… well…” This demon was suspicious, but if they knew of him how bad could they be? He put his hands on his hips, deciding to play coy. “It wasn’t really that big of a deal.”
“I disagree,” they said, “it takes great courage to face the ravenous beast of Cerberus. And to tame him so flawlessly? Remarkable.”
Okay, they definitely had their head on straight.
“Yeah? Well, y’know how it goes,” he flashed them a grin and pointed at himself with his thumb to his chest, “I gotta look out for my little brothers. Can’t let some overgrown pup mess with ‘em.”
They chuckled and nodded in agreement, “Indeed. I can’t help but wonder what the Devildom would be like with more demons like you around.”
That gave him pause.
“What do you mean?”
“Oh…” They shifted a bit, face still concealed within the cloak. “Well… you see, not many demons will go out of their way to aide another unless they benefit. It can be hard to find help if one isn’t strong enough to overcome a challenge on their own.”
Yeah, that was something he’d seen in the Celestial Realm too.
“S’there something you wanna ask me for?” He asked carefully.
They chuckled, “My, so shrewd. I can see why Cleo took a liking to you.”
“Wait,” He looked back toward the shop, “Cleo liked me?”
They laughed again, “Yes, of course she did.”
They’d said it so nonchalantly, like it was obvious, but why did it make him feel… good?
“It’s part of why I thought to approach you,” they continued, “I have a proposition for you.”
His guard went up, but he kept it cool. “Yeah? What do you have in mind?”
“Well…” They widened their stance a bit, “After striking such a deal, you’re in need of funds right? I have a job in mind that would be perfect for you.”
“A job huh?” he repeated, but his suspicion must’ve slipped out because they were quick to withdraw their D.D.D. from a hidden pocket.
“It’s not from me directly, but one I know will be difficult to fulfill,” they explained, showing him the listing on :D Jobs. “There’s been an evil spirit haunting the mausoleum in the graveyard just south of here, and the—”
“Wait, how much are they payin’ for that? What’s this thing?” He grabbed their D.D.D. to read. 100k Grimm just to go scare off some ghost? Easy! Easy money! He couldn’t help checking a few other listings, jobs lined up all offering Grimm for just about anything. He could make so much money so quick with this thing!
They cleared their throat and he realized his mistake. “Ah, my bad.” He handed them their D.D.D. with a sheepish smile. “Forgot myself there.”
“That’s alright,” they said, the device disappearing within their cloak. “I take it you’d be interested?”
“Yeah I’d be interested! Scarin’ off some ghost is nothin’ for me!”
They chuckled and nodded, “Yes, if you can tame Cerberus I imagine a mere spirit will be child’s play for you, Great Mammon.” They bowed their head and turned to depart. “If you’re truly interested, I suggest accepting the job on the app before another demon comes along to take it.”
Like hell he’d let that happen.
“Yeah, got it,” he said, already pulling out his own D.D.D. to download and accept the job. Easy money, and once he got a luck boost he could make even easier money. Then just imagine what sorts of things he could buy.
The little chime of a job accepted filled his heart with glee, and he turned on his heel to head back home. Casting out an evil spirit would be cake, but it might be good to prepare a bit before the job too seeing as how he didn’t know a whole lot about spirits to begin with.
------------------------
The graveyard was easy enough to find, and not even that far of a walk from the House of Lamentation. It was hard for him to consider that place a home yet, but it was… getting more familiar. Still not as fun as staying in the castle had been, but not ticking off Barbatos had its perks too.
“You guys comin’ or what?” he asked once he’d reached the gate, placing a hand on his hip as he turned to watch his younger brothers and the attendant hoof it up the path. “We haven’t even gotten in and you’re already calling it quits or what?”
Levi was the first to join him, tired and a little out of breath. “Shut… up… Mammon. Do you know how far we had to walk? Why didn’t you just drive us here?”
“Huh? How would I do that? Y’all wouldn’t even fit unless I stuffed you in the trunk.”
Levi scowled, “Why would I have to be in the trunk? Why not you?”
“Because it’s my car and I’m drivin’, genius.”
“Genius?” Levi scoffed, “Mocking my intelligence now? You sure you want to do that?”
“Yeah? What’s that supposed to mean?” He sneered back, “You think you—”
“Oh wow,” the attendant cut in, walking between them with their eyes fixed on the graveyard. “This place is huge.”
He shot a look at Levi, who flicked his tongue in return, then he turned on his heel to follow their gaze. They weren’t wrong, this place was massive. Tombstones stretched across the grounds as far as the eye could see, surrounded by a twisted iron fence that bordered the grounds. Trees long since dead sprouted in haphazard spaces between tombs, crows watching from their branches with dark eyes shining in the moonlight.
Another thing he’d noticed about this place with it always being night, everything looked so washed out and gray.
“Mm…” Asmo was the next to arrive, holding out a pamphlet and using the moon to read. “It says here we’re on the east side, and the mausoleum where all the past demon kings are laid to rest is…” he tilted his head slightly, reading more closely while the twins came up behind him. “Oh!” He pointed to a hill further in the distance, “Just on the other side of that hill over there.”
“What?” Levi slouched forward with a groan. “Hills? No one said anything about hiking up hills.”
“They’re not that steep, I’m sure you’ll do just fine,” the attendant said with a small smile his way, making his brother sputter a bit.
“Yeah see, this’ll be a piece of cake,” he said, reaching out to unlock the gate. “We’ll just go in, get rid of the spirit, and get out.”
Beel hummed and stepped around him to push the gate open further, “Do you think we could stop for some cake after we’re done? I’ve heard of a few cafes that sound really good.”
“Cake sounds fun,” Belphie said, skirting around them to enter the graveyard first, “But if you think I’m going to walk around this place all night, sorry to disappoint,” he stopped at the first raised grave and climbed on top of it. “You can have your fun, just wake me up when you’re ready to leave.”
“Belphie-!”
His youngest brother curled up on the tomb with his tail draped over the side, crows cawing up above his head.
“You can’t just- that’s the cover of a TOMB, Belphie!”
He’d started to make his way toward him, but the attendant looked up at him in surprise.
“You’re really not scared?”
“No?” What kind of question was that? “Why would I be?”
One of the crows took flight and swooped down, diving toward Levi before rising up and flying off into the night.
Of which, of course, Levi did not appreciate.
“Th-this place gives me the creeps,” he said, slinking closer to the group while his eyes darted around. “Wh-Why don’t you go on without me a-and I’ll stay here and play games instead?”
“Tch,” he strode into the graveyard, feeling a little smug. “You guys worry too much, but you can relax, your big brother’ll protect ya.” He flashed the attendant a grin, “Just watch, I’ll take out that evil spirit like it’s nothing.”
“Belphie, look at this,” Beel hadn’t listened to anything he’d said, more focused on his twin who was dozing atop the tomb while he knelt below to inspect the carvings along the side. “I don’t recognize this writing… maybe it’s not a Devildom script?”
“Mm… sounds great,” Belphie murmured without opening up his eyes.
“Yeah, real great. Now can we get back to—”
“Wait!” Levi pushed passed him, suddenly excited. “I know this! It’s an ancient Devildom writing style! It’s not in use anymore.”
“What?” Asmo looked at him in disbelief. “Levi, that’s amazing! When did you learn to recognize ancient Devildom writing?”
“Impressed?” Levi puffed out his chest and struck it with his fist, proud. “I studied pretty much every writing style that’s likely to show up in games and stuff like this! You know, so I’d be prepared!”
“Ooh!” Asmo cupped a hand on his cheek, smiling bright. “Levi, we’re so lucky you’re here!”
“Yeah! Except…” He deflated a little and glanced away, “I… can’t actually read any of it.”
“What?! Ugh, Levi you’re useless!”
Mammon rolled his eyes, “Alright, we’re gettin’ a little off track. Why don’t we head further in?”
“But aren’t you curious about what it says?” Asmo asked and he sighed.
“Well, I guess it means the tombs in this area are from way, way back when…” He looked at his brothers, even Belphie’d opened his eyes again to watch him. So they were curious about this place. He glanced at the markers, but couldn’t read any of the script either. Then he remembered they had a demon with them.
“Hey,” he looked to the attendant, “you should be able to read this, right?”
“Me?” They looked up at him in surprise.
“Right, yeah.” Beel stood up, “We’re new here, but you were born and raised in the Devildom. Surely you know what it says, right?”
“Yes… I’m so curious to know…” Belphie said, and if Mammon had to guess he almost sounded a little sarcastic.
“Um, well I can try…” they said, walking over to squat down near the tomb. “Some of it’s old and worn away, but…” They brushed away some debris, “Oh, I can read this!”
“Why do you sound surprised by that?” Belphie asked, and they gave him a sheepish smile.
“Just thought it’d be too worn down. Let’s see… it says…”
“Adam.”
Adam.
Adam.
Adam.
Adam.
Adam.
Adam.
A…dam…
When?
Who?
‘I won’t take too much of your time.’
Where?
‘I have to find my lost love.’
Who?
‘Please don’t struggle, it makes it harder for both of us.’
Where-
Where… was…
Where was he?
Nothing.
He could see nothing.
But.
But he wasn’t-
Where had he been?
Where?
Belphie’s tired smile slid across his mind and he reached out to grab it but-
No hands.
Arms can’t move.
But…
They are.
Without him.
His body… was…
Asmo’s expression crossed his mind, his face twisted with a look of regret.
Not again.
Please-
Visions faded to black and he reached for his chest with arms that wouldn’t move, inhaling with lungs that wouldn’t breathe.
His body…
Wouldn’t respond…
Not mine.
It moved of its own accord, nonphysical sensations of the breeze in his hair and an embrace he couldn’t feel.
Were these… real?
Was he…?
Panic welled up in his chest, aching, crying, begging to be let out.
But there was no sound.
Please.
‘I can’t let you go, not until I’ve found my love.’
Please.
Love.
Lost… love…
Tears burned in eyes that could longer see, the darkness unyielding.
Lost…
Love…
Love.
Love?
She’d stood before them, so brave and unashamed.
For love, she’d said.
Nothing could be greater.
But…
Love hurt.
So much fighting.
So much anger.
So much regret.
He’d wanted… to help her.
To protect her.
Keep her safe.
Help her.
But he didn’t know, didn’t find out until it was too late.
He’d swooped in to protect her without fear, his regal white wings spread out to shield her. No fear, only protect.
Help.
His throat swelled and he cried out into the dark.
Scared.
He couldn’t move, couldn’t think.
Don’t take her.
This wasn’t what he wanted, why did Michael…?
Lucifer.
Help.
Terror seized his heart, squeezing tighter.
Take me with you.
This wasn’t right. Wasn’t what he wanted. What he wanted…
What he wanted…
Lilith.
Don’t go without me.
‘Don’t panic, if you panic I won’t be able to let you go.’
Let go.
Vertigo set in and he heaved a sickness that didn’t exist, the tightness in his chest coiling tighter. Nothing. There was nothing here. Nothing.
Alone.
Was this… all that was left?
He tried to call out, wanting to find comfort in the reverberations of his own voice in his throat but.
Nothing.
Silence.
Just like…
Weak.
‘Just hold on, I can’t focus on you. Finding my love is what matters to me.’
That word again.
Love.
Love…
Finding… love…
Love… hurts.
Don’t want… love.
Love is…
Pain.
Don’t want.
Pain.
Pain.
Pain.
Lucifer.
Help.
Scared.
Lucifer.
Help.
Hurts.
Hurts.
It hurts.
Why does it hurt.
Lucifer.
Help.
Don’t want to lose…
But… did it even matter what he wanted?
No one listened.
No one cared.
He couldn’t feel his body, wasn’t aware of if or when it moved. Head light, breath held he… followed… Lucifer…
Lucifer… would help… keep her safe…
Lucifer… would know… what to do…
It’d be okay, everything would be okay.
Lucifer knew. Just had to talk to Michael and Father, it’d be okay. Lilith, his family…
It’d be okay.
Okay.
Safe.
But… it-
Hurt.
Hurts.
Hurts.
Why does it hurt?
Can’t… breathe… hurts too… much.
Head… so dizzy…
Tired… so tired…
And… sad.
Grief plunged into his chest and gripped his heart, its subtle whispers tickling his ear, begging him to let go. Just let go… the pain would disappear… if he just…
Let…
Go…
He coughed, throat dry and tongue swollen. Thirsty. He was so thirsty. Someone…
Need…
Water…
A cup was touched to his lips, a liquid hot and bitter poured into his mouth. It scalded his tongue, the acrid taste making him wish he could vomit if only his body would respond. But the pain… eased…
Voices… were… somewhere…
Can’t… understand…
Can’t… see…
Fuzzy…
Wings… not like before… swallowing light, feathers tattered and frayed.
But those eyes… so red.
Lucifer.
Still… Lucifer…
But… confusing too…
Red eyes were… wet.
Tears?
Why?
Why crying?
Can’t… move.
Can’t… hug back…
Don’t cry, Lucifer.
It doesn’t hurt.
Not scared.
“I’m sorry, Mammon.”
Sorry? Why?
Why so broken?
“It’s all my fault.”
How?
“I wasn’t… I… I couldn’t…”
Tongue too thick.
Can’t speak.
Don’t cry.
“I wasn’t strong enough.”
Lucifer.
Touch his face.
Red.
Sorry.
Red.
Tried to… help…
Don’t want… to see cry…
More red.
Lucifer’s face was all he could see, his brother… saying something to him. What?
“Mammon, don’t you die on me now! Stay with us!”
Stay.
What does… that mean?
To stay…
Stay.
It’s a nice word. Feels nice.
Want to… stay.
Stay…
His heart seized again, jarring him.
No.
No no no.
Not again.
Losing feeling… again…
Don’t want to die.
Want to stay.
Lucifer.
Help.
Want to stay.
Don’t want to die.
But it’s dark.
So dark.
Can’t… feel…
Can’t… move…
Don’t want to die.
Want to stay.
Want to stay.
The ache in his chest broke in a silent wail, the agony of his lost family crying out into the void.
Want to stay.
Want to stay.
Please.
Stay.
Together.
Together.
Stay.
Want.
Together.
That’s all…
Please.
The air compressed further, squeezing every last breath from his lungs.
Fading.
Everything felt…
So far away…
Please.
Don’t want…
An abrupt rush of air filled his lungs and he doubled over, bracing his hands on his knees and gulping in a breath. His brothers voices filled his ears, only interrupted by the occasional caw of a distant crow. His shadow cast across the ground, stretched across the stony path with a menacing flair. The moonlight was… so bright…
“Wait… hold on… am I back to normal?” he said under his breath, too afraid to look at his hands and instead watching his arms move from his shadow.
“Oh, Mammon, good morning,” Levi leered.
He scowled and stood up straighter, only wobbling a little as lightheadedness lingered while Asmo tittered.
“Aww, so you’re back to your old self? Too bad… you were so much cuter as Adam…”
“Tch,” He shook his head, trying to get his thoughts to clear. What… what was that? “that sad wimp of a human thinks he can take over MY body? Son of a…”
“Hey, how about that!” Asmo turned to the group, “He actually remembers what happened!”
“Are you okay?” The attendant asked, coming to his side. “Are you hurt?”
“Dammit!” He kicked a stone, sending it skittering down the path. Anger. Frustration. Those were easier to latch onto right now.
Can’t show weakness.
“It was like no matter how loud I yelled, no one could hear me.” He said a little quieter, a little glad everyone else had already moved on, mostly making fun of him but at least the attendant was there to listen. He relaxed a little and put a hand on his hip, finding stability in the sensation of his own touch. “It felt… horrible…”
“I can imagine… do you want to head back now?” They asked, stepping a little closer, “Or do you need to sit for a minute?”
“RIP, looks like this night’s been a waste anyway. Way to go getting possessed, Mammon.”
“Ugh, I know right? And whatever the attendant did was cool but I’m so drained now.”
“I know what you mean, I feel a little less solid now. I’d better eat something to make up for what I lost.”
“My head just hurts.”
Mammon watched them all start to wander down the path, but he… couldn’t move.
They were all walking away.
“You sure you’re okay?” they asked again.
Leaving him behind.
“Wh… hey, wait!” Panic set in and he trotted after them, “You can’t walk away and leave me in a place like this!”
Asmo glanced back, “What? I thought you weren’t afraid?”
He stopped. Crap. He was their older brother. He was supposed to be brave, to protect them.
Don’t show weakness.
“‘C-Course I ain’t afraid!” He said, feeling an uneasy chill crawl up his back at the memory of Adam’s touch on his soul.
“Uh huh,” Levi gave him a disapproving look. “You say that, but everyone can see you’re holding their hand for dear life. Let go… now.”
Holding hands? Since when?
He looked down to see he was in fact holding hands with the attendant, and they looked up at him with a… soft smile, giving his hand a gentle squeeze.
“It’s okay,” they whispered, “I don’t mind.”
Asmo gasped and turned to skip down the path, “I can’t believe it! You, a demon, are actually afraid of a graveyard?”
“Sh-Shaddup!”
Belphie chuckled, meandering after him. “I guess being possessed must’ve changed him? Looks like I’ve found something I can use against him now…”
Beel followed suit, glancing down at his twin. “Belphie, why do you look so evil…?”
“Mm?”
They were all… so happy.
Laughing.
Walking together.
Together.
Another squeeze of his hand snapped him back to reality.
“Ready to go?” They asked with a slight tilt of their head.
“Y… yeah,” He looked up at the sky and took in a deep breath, wishing his eyes would stop stinging.
This demon…
This demon was able to stop the possession and send the spirit away. How was that even possible? He didn’t even know spirits could possess his body.
The realization made him feel uneasy, and he squeezed their hand tight, the walk home nothing but a blur.
No control.
Just like before.
He’d had no control.
Only this time it was different.
But… was it?
He hadn’t been strong enough to do something… anything in the Celestial Realm. Now here in the Devildom, no one knew what to expect. What to do, how things could be. Most of what Diavolo and Lucifer were planning was discussed between them, a lot of conversations happening without his input.
Was it… because he wasn’t…?
“Well it’s been fun, but it’s time for me to take a nice hot shower to get all this grave dirt off my skin.” Asmo said with a cheerful hum, already heading up the stairs once they’d made it inside.
“My head still hurts,” Belphie said, holding his temple. “I’m just going to go to bed early.”
“I’ll join you in a bit,” Beel said, parting ways to head toward the kitchen. “I need a snack first.”
“Yeah well what I need is for Mammon to quit acting all clingy with the attendant.” Levi grumbled, shoving his hands in his pockets and shooting a pointed look at the two of them.
“Why~?” Asmo stopped atop the stairs, “You jealous?”
“N-No!” Levi sputtered, “It’s just- It’s just weird okay?”
Hearing them all brought… comfort.
He felt himself slowly start to relax, the laughter and voices surrounding him making it easier to breathe. Making it feel… normal.
“I don’t mind holding his hand a little longer,” they said, looking up at him with eyes that… sparkled… so nice and pretty. “In fact… if you want, I do still have some free time if you want to hang out?”
He blinked, the warmth of the House of… home, finally settling in.
“Yeah…” he said a little dazedly, letting go of their hand to walk up the stairs. “Sure, I don’t mind. I know how much you enjoy hangin’ out with me.”
“Do you want to watch a movie or play a quick game of pool?”
“Whatever’s fine,” he said easily, so easily, his voice so level and calm. That, at least, was something he could do.
Until he was stronger.
Hide his weakness.
He turned on his heel and flashed them a grin, “You wanna play 8 ball or 9?”
“Either,” they said, meeting his smile with ease. “I’m not that good at either so you’ll probably win.”
“Ah, don’t say that,” he said, turning back to open the door to his room. “I’ll teach ya.”
“Really?” They sounded so excited, “Awesome! Thanks, Mammon!”
“Mm,” he hummed, shutting the door behind him and watching them set up the game without truly seeing.
This was… home now.
Home where-
Lilith.
He felt the tightness rise in his chest again, stealing his breath and making his knees weak. The attendant, either considerate or oblivious, busied themselves with racking the balls and putting the triangle away.
He could get stronger here.
He would get stronger here.
He couldn’t risk losing again.
Not again.
No matter what, he had to make sure.
Do everything and anything he had to to keep them.
Keep them and make sure they stayed alive.

I've talked about this before but the most emotion I've ever felt about Supernatural and the reason I've never watched it is puzzlement that none of the advertising and none of the fandom has ever sufficiently indicated to me that I was going to see a beast or perhaps a creature
Well, that and mild annoyance that it's assumed I ever think about it past seeing it on my dash and being adhd
Anyway so there's a monster bear in The Terror? Why am I never seeing images of the monster bear in The Terror

——————————————————————————————————
Secrets, secrets, secrets. Arcane is known for keeping secrets despite her penchant for being honest, and it’s usually secrets about herself that she keeps. Many of them as a viewer you know and or are able to guess, such as her self loathing, the hungry ones, or her feelings for shadow milk and golden butter. But she has a deeper one, even more secret than the feelings of wanting to disappear that she harbors so deeply. One she's had since the very beginning, not even her family knows about it.
The secret of her creation… and how she shouldn’t exist, at least in her eyes.
Back at the beginning- when the beasts were first being conceptualized and the witches pondered what would separate them all from each other, they decided to try something. The witches already had the idea floating about for an egg cookie, it would definitely fit with the rest they had planned after all. They also wanted to create a cookie that could… in layman's terms act like an arcane battery- to be able to produce vast amounts of magical energy rapidly.
And so those who were not preoccupied with the creation of the others went to work, they needed to experiment. For creating a being able to not only produce that much energy, but also being able to withstand it would be a challenge. And for months they tested and tested- but nothing seemed to work. The cookies that were made weren’t up to snuff! They were either too crumbly, too soggy, or hell- they weren’t able to produce the sufficient amount of energy that they wanted.
And so the last few desperate attempts of test batches were made to make a successful cookie, the night was almost here after all. The night to present these perfect cookies- from what has been heard the witches largely credited with making each of the cookies were almost done. And yet they had nothing to show! Nothing to show except these husks- these wastes of materials and energy!
…but unbeknownst to them… one of the cookies in their final batch… was alive-! If only barely conscious. This my friend is our dear arcane egg, even if she doesn’t look like it. Even if her dough is but a pale yellow-orange hue, even if her white hair is cloudy and semi transparent, even if she could hardly move… talk… or think. It’s a version of her, that’s for sure. She was hardly there, in her mind everything was so fuzzy. As if it were a dream… she was on the counter..? In a baking sheet of sorts it seemed. Move-she wanted to move! But her body was so…weak, it felt so frail.
For a few long- LONG minutes this fragile cookie actually managed to get on her feet! If only barely. The cookie didn’t notice the person lingering by the kitchen’s entrance though- didn’t see the curious young eyes of a witch's apprentice. She did notice the young teen however when they had snuck up to the counter the cookie was on. They stared at each other, egg in slight fear and a lot of hazy-ness while the other was staring at the cookie with such wonder in their eyes….
“Are you really alive-!?” The young witch almost shouted, which spooked the cookie greatly and she fell on her ass.
After calming down a bit the young witch, who egg learns is named Viola starts to run her mouth with questions. Not like egg can answer though- her mind is too fuzzy, they can hardly speak, they can hardly think. Viola only stops her cavalcade of questions at the sound of a small broken voice.
“…h..h-help… c-an you h-help me…?”
The bubbly young witch could only stare in awe… and then in empathy and care. This cookie didn’t look well, not at all. She looked barely full baked, there were cracks and small tears all over, her eyes looked so dull as well. Without much fanfare or warning Viola quickly but carefully scooped up the now bewildered cookie. The reason she high tailed it out of the kitchen we learn is because she’s not really supposed to be in there- a rebel it seems.
After stealthy making her way back to her private living quarters Viola officially introduces herself as the witch of Exuberance, unfortunately egg is in no condition to respond. Not like that upsets the witch much- for she immediately starts to study lil egg. A few days pass with egg slipping in and out of consciousness, only being able to be awake for a few minutes at a time. Still the little cookie was so kind despite her condition, she helped Viola any way she could. Which only inspired the young witch, it lit a fire within her.
And so the witch came up with a plan to help stabilize the cookie, it consisted of two main steps! The first step that would need to happen is Viola is gonna need to rebake this cookie after putting her into new dough, this would help make her body sturdy and have a good hardy constitution. The second step would surely get Viola in trouble- but she didn’t care, this cookie needed help. And so Viola stole a phoenix egg from the great pantry, this would not only mesh wonderfully with her core ingredient but it would also stabilize the energy within.
And she made her move, the day before the witches banquet- where these new cookies would be presented Viola snuck into the pantry. She got to work quickly, she only had until the banquet that night. With whispered magic filled words she put the egg cookie to sleep, she made the new dough with great care. Each measurement was precise, each ingredient was carefully handpicked, and then came the final step- The phoenix egg.
As the hours ticked by the deadline got ever closer- but she did it. The baking pan was carefully taken out of the oven and put on the countertop… and the cookie opened her vibrant eyes for the first time. It was quickly discovered by Viola that the little cookie didn’t really remember who she was before- to her it was but a foggy hazy dream… Viola decided to not tell her, at least not right now- they had a banquet to prepare for.
“…hmm, I can’t just keep calling you egg cookie- you're so much more than that… how bout Arcane egg? Do you like that?”
She did- Arcane egg liked that name a lot. She nodded enthusiastically as Viola helped her get dressed in simple but nice black and white robes. Viola seemed so…. Amazed by her, it was so warm. But Arcane didn’t have the time to ponder that warm feeling because Viola quickly scooped her up, they had a banquet to attend after all. Viola seemed so excited to present Arcane.
They were a few hours late- but they made it. Arcane hid in Viola's hood as she gave warm greetings to her colleagues, they all seemed so nice Arcane thought. When the topic of the new cookies came up though- Viola took her chance. She quickly but carefully took Arcane out of her hood and presented her. Just as instructed and it also felt right, Arcane did a small polite curtsy as she gave a smile…..
“….. oh…. That’s great Viola, what might this be..” that tone… that tone didn’t feel good… Arcane stood to attention quietly within Viola's hands, d-did… was something the matter..?
Viola seemed to have the same question as she asked a little confused what was wrong, she made their idea work- she made a cookie able to produce a tremendous amount of magical energy…
Another witch chimed in, “oh it just… their so… small, they don’t seem all that impressive.” ….w-what…?
Another voice, “yes dear, and their not even the right color for an egg cookie. No? An egg cookie should surely have a vibrant hue- not this crispy brown. Hmm…” d-did she look wrong…
“And while I must commend you for getting their hair correct- their eyes. Their eyes seem a little too vibrant, yeah? Not a nice hue of yellow- they seem a little too orange-“ t-their eyes were wrong… but Viola liked their eyes-!
“Honestly Viola you shouldn’t have tried- it seems like a waste of resources, even if you did succeed-!” The witch who said that was given a light smack to the head by another witch….. w-waste of resources… no.. no.
“I mean cmon- this cookie just looks like a waste of dough-!” Before that sentence was finished a small group of witches moved over to them, Arcane couldn’t describe the look in Viola's eyes… w-what did they do wrong… surely nothing…
The witches quieted at the approaching group, she heard a rain whisper of “it’s them..” do they mean the witches who made the other cookies tonight…? Oh no- will they dislike her to?! No she can't have that, she stands a little straighter as she calms herself. She’s not gonna let Viola or herself down-!
This group of witches don’t seem displeased with her-! Honestly she can’t tell what they're feeling but she’ll fucking take it! It takes a moment for Arcane to notice but Viola seems to be getting into a tense conversation with the group of witches from before… their mentioning something about a phoenix egg…? Within but only a moment she’s handed of to a different witch by Viola as she continues her…heated conversation.
This new witch she quickly learned was called Salem, she apparently assisted in the creation of these new cookies. Apparently they're gonna be called ancients, or hero’s because they're meant to lead other cookies? Salem quickly assured Arcane she’s a part of this group to- the witches she were with approved of it…that’s comforting… she thinks… at least Salem was openly kind- apparently she would be taking care of them… Arcane just hopes she can make a good Impression to the other cookies…
————————————————————————————-
We now take a moment to pull back from this scene to take a wider perspective, so I can explain what happens next quickly and concisely. Arcane egg then gets to meet the other cookies, who are the beasts- no surprise there. She quickly gets attached, they don’t think her weird or unnerving - they actually like her alongside Salem and Viola!
…but she doesn’t get to see Viola as much anymore and she doesn’t understand why… neither does Salem it seems. Whenever she asks a witch where Viola Is they say she’s busy- that her creating me proved she was capable of taking on new responsibilities.
….the last time she ever saw Viola is when she gifted Arcane her soul jam. Viola made a promise to Arcane with that soul jam, her new light of defiance. After Arcane had lived her life, gone on adventures, learned about the world outside. She wanted to hear about it, hear what stories she had to tell… Arcane promised with enthusiasm and vigor. Of course she’d do that- and she hopes to hear tales from Viola as well… when she said that Viola smiled… that was the last she ever saw Viola….
…her curiosity and well- her defiance got the better of her, she wanted to know why she couldn’t see Viola… she learned something else… she learned of her original life… of her original state, how she was meant to be discarded… s-she wasn’t supposed to exist… a-and that Viola… broke the rules to help her..? S-she wasn’t supposed to be baking yet- she apparently stole a rare ingredient to use… for her… I-is that why….
Is that why she can’t see Viola anymore….? Did she get her in trouble..! She also learns her soul jam used what was left of that phoenix egg to make her soul jam…. That she got into major trouble for it- that she was… kicked out of the coven apparently… that’s what Salem told her at least…
This is Arcanes deepest secret- and her eyes one of her biggest shames. And she’s told not a single soul.
ARCANEEEE *sob*
Azure you're really great at writing and I really liked reading this! Also poor arcane with having to go through all that. Also salem seems very cool too!
also to my followers i'm sorry for not postig prompts jahjsksksf. I've been more focused on my non-cookie ocs and some roleplay servers.

Cutting the Parasitic Cord
"Parasite: Noun.  An organism that lives on or in another organism, while not contributing towards that other organism sufficiently to cover the cost to that other organism."
[Warning for emotional abuse]
Tick…tick…tick…
Lillie silently wrung her hands.  The waiting room was quiet—eerily so—and something in her feared that if she was too loud it would throw the entire hospital into chaos.
Tick…tick…tick…
The wall clock directly above where she sat was driving her mad.  She could move to a different seat, but she worried that would look incredibly odd to the receptionist.  She could step out for a moment, get some fresh air, but she couldn’t risk missing the doctor.
Tick…tick…tick…
She leaned back slightly, which led her to realize nearly every muscle in her body was tightly tensed.  Quietly, she took a deep breath, and tried to relax herself at least a little.
Tick—BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNG!!
Lillie’s heart tried to leap from her chest like a Pokémon sick of being in its ball.  She held onto the armrests to steady herself while the receptionist answered the phone, the pounding in her ears drowning out both the conversation and the accursed clock.  Just as she felt she was getting her bearings back, the door on the other side of the room opened, and out walked the doctor in charge of her mother’s recovery.  It took one moment for Lillie to get on her feet, and just one more to reach the doctor’s side.
“Doctor!  Um, how did things go…?”
His smile was weary but warm.  “Quite well, I’d say.  Thanks to Bill’s Cell Separation System we were able to remove all traces of the toxins in your mother’s body.”
Lillie sighed.  “Oh, good…thank you so much for taking care of her.”
“My pleasure.  Now, I should tell you: since this is a toxin we’re unfamiliar with, it’s very difficult to estimate how long it’ll take for your mother to be back at full health.  It could be a matter of hours, or it could be a matter of months—we just don’t know.”
“Yes, I understand.”  She glanced at the door.  “Is she still in the operating room?”
“For now.  We want to observe her just a bit longer, to make sure it’s safe to move her.  We’ll let you know as soon as she’s ready to return her to her room.”
“Thank you, again.  Everyone here’s been so wonderful to us; I can’t begin to tell you how much we appreciate all that you’ve done!”
She let the doctor leave and, after one more look back at the operating room door, exited the waiting room at last.  The orange tint of the hall she walked through made her realize the sun was setting, and that it hadn’t been her imagination making her think the procedure had taken a very long time to complete.  Her stomach growled at her.  She paused, looked at the elevator, then turned to the Xtransceiver on her wrist.  After giving it a little more thought, she stepped through the nearest door and out onto an empty balcony.  Lillie poked the device a few times to summon an image of her brother on its screen.
“There you are,” Gladion said.  “I take it the operation ran long?”
“Nice to see you too, brother,” Lillie said.  “Yes, it took them longer than expected—I only just got to speak with the doctor.  But he said they were able to completely remove Nihilego’s toxins!  Mother should be back to her old self soon enough.”
Gladion adjusted his hair.  “Hm.  Well, I’m glad to hear it was a success.  How are you holding up?”
“I’m fine.  Um, I did forget to eat dinner, but that’s something I can take care of right away.”
“Then I won’t keep you.  Just…”
She waited to see if he would finish his sentence.  “…Just…what?”
Gladion sighed.  “At the risk of being blunt…it wasn’t the neurotoxin that turned Mother into the person we both had to run from.  Remember that.”
Lillie blinked.  Then she scowled.  “I know that.  But she’s already been getting better since the treatment started.  I told you: she hasn’t said anything about Ultra Beasts, and she’s always asking how the two of us are doing—”
“You also told me she was still awfully controlling.”
“…I know she won’t suddenly change overnight.  But the doctor did say she would recover.”
“’Back to her old self’, as you put it?”
“I…well, that’s…”  She shook her head.  “That’s not important!  After everything that’s happened, surely she knows she can’t continue on like that!”
Gladion looked away.  “Maybe.  I’m not so sure.”
“Gladion—”
“But I’m not asking you to convince me.  I just want to know you’re prepared for the possibility of things turning out less than ideal.”
Lillie took a moment to absorb his words.  “…I understand.  Thank you, Gladion…I’ll try.”
He nodded.  “Alright.  Now go get something to eat.  I’ll talk to you later.”
He ended the call.  Lillie stared at the balcony floor for a while, lost in thought, until her stomach again roared at her.  It was a short walk to the hospital cafeteria, and after finishing her meal, she pulled her diary from her bag and flipped to the first empty page.
Day XX in Kanto Mother’s surgery was today—the big one using Mr. Bill’s program.  It took longer than expected, but it was a complete success!  Now we just need to wait for Mother to get her strength back.  I’m relieved, and very happy to know she’ll be alright.
Her eyes drifted towards her Xtransceiver, and her pen halted for a while.
And, though I don’t want to admit it, I’m also a little scared.  Anything she does after today can’t be blamed on the neurotoxin.  Well, perhaps until her body fully recovers
She stopped and shook her head.
Well, perhaps until her body fully recovers I want to believe she’ll change from the person she’s been these past few years, try to be the mother I remember from when I was young, but I keep needing to remind myself that I can’t make that choice for her.  I thought I already
A yawn caught her off-guard.  She considered heading back to her mother’s room and getting some rest, but reasoned she probably wouldn’t be able to rest much until the doctors were finished observing Lusamine.
I thought I already decided I won’t simply appease her anymore.  It was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done, so I suppose I’m a bit too eager to picture a future where I don’t have to see it through.  I won’t beat myself up for hoping.  But Gladion’s right: I need to be prepared for anything.
Not much else came to mind.  She doodled a bit, finishing the page with a few messy sketches of Clefairy and Exeggutor and Nebby.  It was a long, long time before she heard from the doctor again.
***
She awoke to find her mother sitting up in her bed, watching something on the television.  After stretching and rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she said, “Mother?  How are you feeling?”
Lusamine turned; her gaze was more lucid than it had been in a long time, which Lillie took as proof that the effects of the toxins were wearing off, but she couldn’t quite read her expression.  “Oh, Lillie.  I’m doing much better…though my memory is a bit cloudy on a few things.  What hospital is this again?”
Lillie couldn’t help but relax, hearing her speak so normally.  “It’s St. Joy’s, in Saffron City.”
Lusamine crossed her arms.  “Saffron…I remember you mentioning Kanto, but why Saffron?”
“We needed help from somebody who lives in Cerulean City, but…well, even in that state you insisted on the best accommodations possible…”
“Oh…heh, I suppose that does sound like me.  Thank you for taking such good care of me, dear.”
Lillie smiled.  “Of course.”
Lusamine looked around.  “Is…Gladion here…?”
“He stayed at Aether Paradise, running the Foundation while you were gone.  It sounds like things are going well!  But, he is a bit bored with it.”
“That’s right, I remember now.  Well, I can’t imagine I’ll be here much longer, so…”  She paused, staring at Lillie.  “How long have you been wearing your hair up like that?”
A sinking feeling slowly snaked into Lillie’s heart.  “Um…not particularly long.  I wanted to try something new.”
“You look much more beautiful with it down.  Besides, doesn’t that get in the way of wearing that darling hat I bought you?”
“Well…that’s…”
“Come here.  Let me fix it for you.”
Lusamine reached out.  Lillie pulled back, saying, “No, I…I actually like my hair like this.”
“Nonsense, what you had before was much better.  Let me help you.”
“Mother, please, stop.”
“It’ll only take a moment.”
“Mother!”  Lusamine finally stopped.  Lillie awkwardly held her hand, and said, “I want to keep it this way for now.”
Her expression was starting to look familiar—all too familiar.  “…Fine.  Now, what was I saying…ah, yes.  I’ll call Gladion shortly and let him know we’ll be returning to Alola soon.  Once we do, perhaps the three of us can go on a trip together; wouldn’t that be nice?”
Lillie swallowed hard.  “It…does sound nice, bu—”
“Wonderful!  I’ll have Wicke start making preparations for us.”
“Er, Mothe—”
“Unova is quite nice this time of year.  Oh, but I’ve always wanted to show you Kalos!  Yes, you’ll love it there.”
After one last moment of hesitation, Lillie squeezed Lusamine’s hand.  “Mother, you must listen to me!”
Lusamine stared at her.  Her eyes were wide with shock, confusion…Lillie thought she saw a flash of fear as well.  Much as she didn’t want to say it, she knew it needed to be said.
“…I’m…not going back to Alola with you.”
Silence filled the room.  The seconds seemed to stretch themselves into hours, weeks, years.  Lillie barely moved a muscle—once again, she found, they were all extremely tense.
Tick…tick…tick…
“You don’t mean that,” Lusamine said.
Lillie nodded.  “I do.”
“You can’t!  You can’t just abandon me, not again!”
She knew she’d have to choose her battles.  “I’m not abandoning you.  I’ll stay with you until—”
Lusamine suddenly grabbed her shoulders.  “You have to stay with me always!”
“M…Mother.”
She tried to smile as the fear came to fill her eyes completely.  “I-I got carried away, I know!  I shouldn’t have chased the Ultra Beasts so obsessively!  I’m sorry for the way I treated you, I really, truly am!  Let’s just start over again: I’ll be a better mother, I promise!  We can still be a family!”
Lillie’s heart ached.  Part of her was convinced that this was exactly what she had wanted to hear, that all she had to do was accept and let everything settle back into normalcy.  But only one part.  “I’ve made up my mind: I’m not leaving Kanto until I’ve completed its gym challenge.”
Tears welled in Lusamine’s eyes.  “Wh…what are you talking about?  You hate Pokémon battles!”
“I learned a lot after leaving Aether Paradise.  I’m not the same person I used to be…but, I’m not quite the person I want to be either, not yet.  That’s why I want to challenge the gyms: so that I can keep learning, keep growing!”
“No, you just need to stay the way you were!  You just need to go back to the way you were!”
Lillie’s words caught in her throat.  Squaring her shoulders, she pushed and heaved until she was finally able to spew them out.  “We can’t…just…go back.  We can’t simply pretend none of this happened, Mother.  We have to accept what’s happened, terrible as it all is, and find a way to move forward.  And I…have to find mine on my own.”
Lusamine’s grip tightened.  “Lillie, I can’t lose you!”
Gently as she could, Lillie grabbed her mother’s wrists.  “That’s exactly what will happen if you try to keep such tight hold of me.”
Lusamine didn’t reply.
“I’m not going away forever, Mother.  But I also can’t stay forever.  Please…you have to understand.”
Slowly, excruciatingly slowly, Lusamine’s grip began to loosen.  When she finally let go, her hands hovered near Lillie for a moment, and then she pulled them back, looked down at the bed, and slumped.  Lillie waited as long as she could bear.
“I know this must be a lot for you to take in.  I’ll give you some time.”
She heard no response as she stood up and left the room.  Lillie walked down the hall, her pace slowing with every step, and prodded her Xtransceiver with trembling fingers.
“Yes?” Gladion answered.  “Did something…Lillie?  What’s wrong?”
Lillie broke down sobbing.
***
Ssshhhh…ssssshhhhh…sssshhh…
Lillie raised a hand to shield her eyes from the sun.  From the bench along the harbor, she could hear the endless sound of the waves and feel the salty, refreshing ocean wind roll over her.  Off in the distance, a shining white luxury liner blew its horn as it drifted on out of sight.  Lillie fished her diary out her bag, turned to the first blank page, and sat back.
Day XX in Kanto
I just saw Mother off.  She was still sad and angry, and made sure we all knew it, but I’m glad that at the very least she’s begun to accept my decision to stay.  It’s a long trip to Alola—Gladion said he’ll need the time to work out how he’s going to persuade Mother to let him leave Aether Paradise.  I hope it won’t be too difficult for him.
A Slowpoke sat at the very edge of the dock, dangling its tail in the water in the hopes something would bite.  Nothing did.
The truth is that I’m sad to see her go.  Isn’t that strange?  All this effort to let go, and I still find myself wanting to look back.  I can’t tell if it’s grief, or love (Mother certainly doesn’t think so), or something else entirely.  It might be a long time before I’m able to know for sure.  I suppose it’s part of accepting the past, rather than simply ignoring it.  But, the past will still be there whenever I am ready to make sense of it—I want to turn my focus to the future.
She sighed.  Her muscles still felt a bit stiff, but they were far more agreeable to movement now.  A school of Poliwag came to the water’s edge, paused to investigate, and then leapt in and began swimming across the harbor, chattering gleefully as they went.
I’m still in Vermillion City right now.  I have a ticket for a voyage of my own, just a short ways west to Pallet Town.  I’ve been in contact with Oak Labs these past few days, and after getting some paperwork settled, they’ve agreed to give me the support I need to start my gym challenge.  In spite of everything, I feel this grand excitement building within me just thinking about it.  It hardly seems real, but by this time tomorrow, I’ll be a real Pokémon Trainer!
Lillie gazed out over the sea.  An electric feeling ran throughout her body; her heart felt impossibly light, like it might carry her up into the sky now that she had shed the weight on her shoulders.  She couldn’t help but smile.
Whatever I run into on my adventure, I know I’ll be able to my Pokémon and I will be able to handle it.  We’ll grow stronger together, and when we’re done here, we’ll head back to Alola to show all of our friends there.  Then, if they’re up for it, I’d love to go on another adventure with Hau, Gladion, and
Another horn rang out, this one much closer.  Lillie looked up to see her ship entering the harbor.  She quickly put away her diary and got to her feet, and then, taking a deep breath, she approached the dock.
“Alola!”

Columns towered over you, casting huge patches of shadow which made you feel small and insignificant their wake. The ceiling was so tall that you felt that perhaps there was no end to it, as it melted in to a black abyss the further you looked up. It felt like walking among the world of giants, or a world that used to be inhabited by them, as everything was covered by a couple layers of dust and cobwebs.
You couldn’t help but be slightly afraid as you made your way further in, having to remind yourself why you were here under your breath. That somewhere in this maze of darkness and cruel magic, your brother was waiting for you, or at least you hoped he was.
He was so young, kind, and innocent. Not a little boy who should be trapped in a place like this, taken hostage by a beast that you’d only heard of from the village storyteller who’d tell the tale to all the locals who would gather around the his campfire at night.
As a young children you’d all huddle together as close as humanly possible to the fire, letting the heat slightly burn your skin, the orange glow shadowing the old man's face. The hard lines and liver spots becoming even more prominent in the light. He looked menacing, and you supposed for a story like that, it was just how he wanted to look.
In a low haunting voice he would tell the tale of how Princess Lili and the Unicorn. How she had wanted to touch this sacred animal, and in the process set herself up to plunge into the darkness. To be seduced by it. The story took many turns, and you had found yourself in rapt awe, fear and something strangely more illusive. Something you dare not name aloud, for you found it shameful. Pleasure.
However, the fear was what was most prominent in your mind as you finally made your way up to the gigantic double doors that you hoped lead to a clue to where your brother might be. The stone of it looked cold and heavy, almost like it was made for a giant with strength greatly out-matching yours. However, when you laid your hand against the cool surface of the door, it was like it sensed you physical presence. The air rushed through your hair and over your simple tunic and pants as the door slowly opened.
The sound of crackling and an orange glow met your eyes and ears. Slipping into the room, some more squat columns greeted you again: squat and looking like they were sprouting from metallic leaves which embraced their base. The stone tiles were littered with the remnants of falling passing into the winter, dead leaves and dirt.
As you made your way slowly into the room, you took in more of the atmosphere. Everything was bathed in the soft orange glow of a large and ornate fireplace. It would have been comforting if not for the huge stone carving of a demon, depicted holding what looked to you like a trident, sneering down at you. The light also elongated the furniture, of what little there was, and columns, making it look like anywhere there could be someone or something hiding just out of sight in the darkness.
There was a large amount of open space in front of the fireplace which led up to a long banquet style table, which only features some equally gruesome candelabras. The bodies of them were gothic in style and onyx black, all sharp edges like the teeth of a wolf. By far the most eye catching thing within the room though, was a mirror standing to the left of the fireplace.
Although all the furniture seemed to be made for someone twice your height, the mirror felt like it was at least three times that. It had the similar macabre design to the other furniture, but even more elaborate.
The frame had an elaborate folding curtain carving all down the left side of it, making the mirror seem more like a window then what it appeared to be. The right side had intricate carvings which were mesmerizing in their design. As you walked further into the room, your desire to run your fingers over the whirls and edges.
Finally reaching the center of the open space of the room in front of the fireplace, you felt the warmth of the fire and it's soft crackling and pops from the wood. Every sound echoed throughout this vastness of the room, into every dark corner. You turned around in a circle, letting your eyes scan all the corners of the immediate area for anyone who might be hiding just out of view.
When you came back around to facing the mirror, you could see what was reflected back at you: a frightened young girl playing at hero, hoping that it would pay off. Hoping that if she musters up enough courage to use the dagger at her hip in order to get what she wanted. You almost felt like laughing at the toddrey display of false confidence you had been so earnest in cultivating up until this moment.
Then you noticed something, something out of place in the reflection, behind you in the background of dancing shadow created by the flames playing off the columns.
At first you thought it was a statue, tall and sculpted, but it didn't match the stoney grey and bronze quality of the decor. The arm of the statue was a crimson, leading up to black flowing fabric. Your eyes lingered up this arm to a pair of eyes glowing a greenish-yellow hue in the dark.
What stood just a few meters away from you in the dark was something large and alive. Stepping into the light, you gasped, turning to face the giant man. Could you even call what stood before you a man? More of a man-beast which had come right out of the fairy tales told around that storytellers fire.
You backed up quickly, tripping over yourself and slamming your back heavily into the glass of the mirror. Your eyes hadn't left the figure who was advancing on you.
He was almost as tall as the mirror itself, broad and muscular with skin a bright crimson. His chest was laid bare in order to give the impression of just how capable he was of crushing anyone who would dare try to face him. Legs seemed to be just as strong, though they were mostly covered with black handmade bottoms.
Giant horns protruded upward from either side of his head, and his face was at once both handsome and gruesome in appearance. As he stepped forward heavily on his hoofed feet, Darkness smirked down at you.
"What has this night brought me? A lost little lamb perhaps? Separated from its flock." You tried to square your shoulders and seem more intimidating than your miniscule stature made you seem.
"Trying to be brave? You must be here for a reason instead of just stumbling into my halls." He chuckled softly at this display, sizing you up with his sparkling yellow eyes.
"I...I'm here to get my brother back," your voice sounded so small echoing off the walls of the large room. The voice of a being which could so easily be broken under the hooves of this giant before you.
"I know why you're here," Darkness began to move slowly, and you tracked him with your gaze as he started to circle you. It felt like you were a helpless rabbit being sized up by a hungry wolf before it pounces.
"While you were busy coming to save the child, did you ever stop to ask..." He paused a moment, somewhere behind you, causing you to look over your shoulder in order to see what had made him stop.
"What he did to be taken." As you turned your face to look at Darkness, you're met with his. So close you can feel his breath on your face, count the teeth in his sly grin.
You step back, startled, grasping for the dagger at your hip. As your hand closed around the leather hilt of the blade, drawing it, Darkness moved quickly catching your arm in his powerful grip.
Vice-like, you winced under the pressure of his large hand wrapped around your wrist. Your breath caught in your throat before coming out in a whimper between clenched teeth.
"I wouldn't do something so brash little lamb, you might hurt yourself," you felt paralyzed. His hold on you was solid, immovable. When you tried to pull yourself free, it felt like you were stuck, unable to even move your arm an inch in Darkness's hold.
"Let me go," your words seemed hollow, devoid of any intimidation.
Moving slowly with his free hand, you flinched slightly as he closed his fingers around the blade and yanked the dagger free from your grasp as if it was nothing. only then did he finally let you go, standing to his full height and stabbing the dagger into the side of one of the columns.
It fit perfectly into the stone, which shocked you. Surely the blade should have broken on impact, but it was like the column had parted around it.
"Why don't we sit and discuss this over a meal? No need for these hostilities. They bore me." You followed his hand as he sweeped it over to the table you'd noticed when you'd first come in. Where it had been bare of anything but the candelabras, now it was full of plates of food.
Your stomach ached, making you realize just how much time had passed since you'd first set out on your journey. The last time you'd eaten, it had been an apple and a couple pieces of bread a day away from your final arrival at your destination.
"How do I know you haven't poisoned the food?" You asked, looking back to Darkness as you did.
"If I had wanted you dead, you already would be. And why would I waste such interesting company?" The smirk he gave you as he said this had something else hidden behind it. You could see it in his eyes, raking over your body, meeting your eyes and holding your gaze for a long pause.
You wanted to feel disgusted. Men in your village had looked at you in a similar way. When they were coming home from the local tavern drunk at night and walked by you on your way home from working late in the fields.
They would give you that look, the look so common among men when they'd stare at women they desired. A mix of desire and contempt, like a child who desired to covet the last sweet all for themselves. Although childish, there was a predatory danger behind that look which made you always slip into a dark sidestreet before men like that could even catch sight of you. Hiding from the potentiality of what could happen if they decided to act upon their visible dark desires.
However, in this case, for some reason, Darkness's gaze didn't make you more afraid then you already were. It didn't make you want to turn and run. You felt ashamed that not to deep down, it made your stomach flip in a way which wasn't unpleasurable.
Turning, he walked over to the head of one end of the table, pulling out the large high-backed chair and looking to you again as you stood there.
"Please, dine with me. Let's discuss this without fighting. It's been a while since I've had a guest." What could you do but slowly make your way to the chair he'd pulled out.
As you moved to sit, he pushed in the seat behind you, like a gentleman. The whole display would be rather funny, the devil being a gentleman and inviting you to dinner, if you weren't still a little terrified.
Coming around from behind the chair, Darkness reached out on the table for a large jeweled bottle of wine. Without asking he poured the dark red liquid into the goblet in front of you, before walking over to his own seat and pouring his own glass.
Once you were both seated at either end of the table, you felt a little more relaxed. The distance of being at either head of the table was far enough that it gave you a false sense of security.
"What shall we toast to?" Darkness addressed you raising his glass with a quirked brow.
"What?" You were taken aback by this strange situation. It hadn't really fully dawned on you just how much he'd been trying to distract you from your goal.
"What shall we toast?" He repeated.
"I... I didn't come here to dine with you. I came to get my brother." As you said this, something dark flashed behind the composure of Darkness. Perhaps his patience with you wasn't as limitless as it seemed.
"My dear, we will get to that all in due time," the words were spoken less with his smooth sounding tone he'd been taking with you. This tone was all teeth. You decided not to push it, raising your glass tentatively.
"To making acquaintances?" Your statement came out as more of a question as you spoke. Darkness seemed to pause as you said this, before smiling.
"Yes. To making new acquaintances," You both toasted your glasses unable to touch, instead gesturing in each others direction before taking a sip.
You winced slightly at the rich taste. It wasn't unpleasant, but it was unlike any of the wine you'd ever had before. Only ever having had cheaply made wine in the tavern with friends, you'd been used to the sour poor flavour. This was rich and oaky in taste. Pleasurable to the mouth.
Looking down from your focus on the contents of your goblet, you were shocked to find a silver plate before you. A lamb shank, seasoned with delicious smelling spices, mixed vegetables and potatoes lay before you, making your mouth water. Where it had come from was your guess. There were many things about this strange place which made no sense to you.
Across the table Darkness had also gotten his own food. A large leg of lamb. No vegetables to be seen, which didn't surprise you. A beast such as him, it made sense that he would be exclusively carnivorous.
"So, tell me... Why would you come here all alone? Wouldn't you want to bring some strong warriors with you little lamb?" Darkness asked as he used his utensils to cut a healthy chunk of meat from the leg.
"I.. They're coming. They just got delayed by the swamp," It wasn't a convincing lie. You wanted to smack yourself for how stupid it sounded coming out of your mouth.
"You are not a convincing liar. The truth is written all over your face. Your little village was to afraid to help you." You didn't know what to say to this, looking down at your plate.
"I feel for you little lamb. It is hard to feel abandoned by those who you're supposed to rely on." Looking up from the plate, you met his eyes from across the table. He seemed sincere, with a tinge of sadness.
"They said it would be to dangerous. That I should consider my brother as good as gone-"
"And you weren't willing to give up, not on someone you loved. Not on family." He interrupted you, leaning forward across the table slightly.
"Yes. I-I suppose I should ask what my brother did to be taken," You held Darkness gaze as you said this, reaching for your own utensils and started to cut into the lamb shank in front of you.
"Mmm. Yes. That." Darkness took another long sip from his drink, looking up to the ceiling as if he could find the words for how to tell this story somewhere up there.
"He was in the forest. But I'm sure you knew that already. There he came across something one of my servants had left unattended, the fool." At this, Darkness snarled, almost slamming his own goblet down on the table, making you jump in your seat.
"Sorry. I don't intend to frighten you. I just ask so little of those under my service. Yet they still disappoint me. Your brother took this object of mine, and for that I had him taken in return." You were confused by this. Your brother had always been a gentle soul, someone who wouldn't steal, couldn't. Not without feeling extreme guilt afterwards.
"Please, tell me he's still alive, that you haven't harmed him."
"You think I'm some kind of monster. That I would just murder a child," Darkness said through bites of lamb.
"I've heard the stories about you. Slaughtering armies, eating babies, seducing unsuspecting women," you had begun to wolf down more bits of food as you mentioned this, almost casually.
"Only two of those are really true, and neither is the devouring of infants," he chuckled at your little ravenous display.
"They say all sorts of things about me in the little villages that surround my forest. Rarely are those things ever as true as they appear. I don't seek destruction, only order in a new form. I don't take anything unless something is taken first from me, and I don't give unless it is desired of the recipient," Your eyes met his eyes across the table once again, and as he finished the final sentence you felt yourself flush slightly. Betrayed by your own body.
He was attractive in an animalistic way, that was undeniable. The defined masculine nature of his face, its wicked yet alluring qualities, his strong muscular chest laid bare for you to see. The fact that he didn't care if you saw him in this near naked state, it was enough to be slightly arousing to you.
You wanted to fight this more than anything else. The urge to feel for him, as you had when you'd first heard the story of him and Lili. How he'd seduced her to sin.
"What do you desire, lamb?" You felt like he could read your thoughts, like he knew that your mind had wandered onto the dangerous path of lusting after something that could never be, should never be.
"I want you to let my brother go."
"I will, in due time. I have what he took, I was only curious if anyone cared enough to come for him. He made it seem as if no one would." Darkness admitted taking one last sip of wine.
"But he knows I'd come for him. I'd never just leave him," you felt a little bit of sadness well up. The fact that your brother had thought no one would want to come looking for him was disheartening. And in part he was right.
You were the only one who had come to look for him. No one else had been willing to, they had all considered him a lost cause. Perhaps they even thought you were just as lost, not seeing a point in coming to look for you either.
"He will be happy your here. I will take you to him when we have finished here. He isn't being held in a prison. He's a guest here like you." This was all well and good, but you weren't sure you believe this fully. Was this all to good to be true.
"There must be a catch to this. I can't imagine you would just let us walk out of here," you focused on Darkness as he took in what you were saying.
"I just wish for company. Two nights and two days, then you may both leave. I only ask for someone to talk to, to share my thoughts with," Once again, his eyes seemed to wander, like he wasn't sure how to frame what he was trying to say. It made you feel like he was perhaps struggling to express what he was feeling.
"Your lonely." It wasn't a question as much as a statement, and you hadn't even realized you'd made it until you noticed his eyes had fixed back onto you.
'I-I didn't mean to cause offense," you said quickly.
"No, no you're right," Darkness said raising from the table, pushing back his chair. He took a few steps in the direction of the fireplace, his back to you. The glow of the fire catching the red of his skin, making it glow softly. You could read in his skin, every curve, sharp angle, broad and soft. It stirred something deep in the pit of you.
"I've been alone for a long time. No one to speak with. No one to share my company," He looked over his shoulder, catching your gaze on him, the way you seemed just as hungry for him as you had been for the lamb.
"No one to touch," turning fully, Darkness walked back over to stand in front of you, towering high, looking down into your eyes.
"You never really answered my question little lamb," he said, his voice seemed deeper, more soft as he said this, causing your heart to skip a beat.
"I don't know what you mean," you mumbled, still completely focused on the man-beast before you. How he was looking at you, the way his breath seemed more heavy than before.
He reached down with one of his hands, thumb and forefinger resting against your jaw and chin. You felt deep down that you should draw away, not let this monster who had kidnapped your brother touch you. However, his touch was so gentle, rubbing your skin, making you shiver.
"You never did tell me what you desire," his voice was like silk against your skin.
"What I desire?" You sounded punch-drunk to your own ears. His fingers trailed your jaw, down to your neck where they lingered.
"I can see it written in your eyes, you desire more then just to see your brother home safe." As his fingers made their journey lower, they caught on the front ties of your tunic.
You stopped him before he went further by laying your hand over his. Darkness didn't pry, didn't try to push you beyond your means. He simply kept your eye. You could see the desire burning in him. What he wanted.
What did you want though? What were you doing? Why were you allowing him to touch you like this?
Deep down you knew all to well why. All those nights of wondering and dreaming those sinful dreams. Desiring him without thinking it would come to anything. Knowing now that those dreams were within your grasp.
His hand was warm in your grasp, so whole and real. Pulling it to your lips, you kissed his palm gently. You couldn't put into words your desire for him which had laid dormant, but now had been fully ignited. Instead actions felt like the best way to express what was starting to burn deep in your core.
Darkness used his free hand to cup the side of your face, leaning down so that his face was level with yours. You could see every line, every curve of his face, the passion which was evident in his eyes.
You could feel the heat of his breath on your face. It didn't smell unpleasant like you would have expected. Instead it smelled the earthy flavor of the wine you'd been drinking.
As he placed his lips on yours you could taste it. His mouth was softer than you expected, and when he kissed you it made your head spin.
It slower, gentler than you thought it would be. He pulled back from you, allowing you to catch your breath.
Suddenly he grabbed you, causing you to yelp. He lifted you like you weighed nothing. Darkness body was flush with yours. You were able to feel how strong he was, every muscle in his torso.
As your hands traced his arms, you could trace the contours of muscular frame. He was so much stronger than you, so much bigger. You knew if he wanted to, he could break you and there was nothing you could do to stop him.
For some reason the very idea of this, made you feel aroused. There was also the fact that you could feel through the limited clothes which Darkness wore, his massive bulge.
Once again, his lips crashed into yours. His teeth were sharp, but somehow he managed to nip at your bottom lip without drawing any blood. He was gentle, yet the more he persisted, the rougher of he became.
You moaned as he pulled away to start kissing your neck. Those kisses soon turned into love bites, teasing and pulling at your skin. His ministrations were causing blood to rush to your face and the ache in between your legs to grow pronounced.
Supporting you by your thighs, Darkness walked you over to the table and pushed aside the plates and candelabras to make space for what was about to occur. Placing you prone on your back, he leaned close over you, meeting your eyes again.
"Little lamb, are you ready to get what you truly desire?" husky, his voice felt like liquid amber making shiver run down your spine, and between your legs wetter.
"Darkness... Please," you were beyond the point of no return and all you wanted was to be satisfied by this beast of a man. He chuckled, delighting in your small plea.
"What do you desire?" he asked for the third and final time.
"I want you," your words came out in a keening whine, body hot with desire. Darkness smiled. A mixture of smug self-satisfaction at finally getting you to admit what you wanted.
He leaned in and layed kisses on your neck again, making you moan. Licking and nipping at you, and then proceeding to suck on the sensitive pulse point of your neck.
As he continued his ministrations with his mouth, his hands wandered up your body, ghosting over your clothed stomach.
You felt that aching anticipation as his long clawed fingers finally reached the ties on your tunic. Darkness pulled away from your neck, and you knew from the way he'd been sucking and nipping at your tender skin, that there would be at least several bruises left behind.
You held your breath as he slowly pulled the ties free, pulling back the light cotton. Goosebumps pebbled your skin as it was exposed to the air of the room. Your nipples were already hard from him teasing your skin. Darkness took notice of this, using a thumb to tease one of your nipples, sending pleasurable sensations through your body and making you let out a sharp breath.
Dipping down, his mouth meeting your other nipple, tongue flicking it experimentally. The sensation was even more pleasurable than his thumb making languid circles.
Seeing the pleasure written on your face, Darkness latched himself on and sucked gently, savouring your gasps. Using his long tongue, he circled the bud slowly, before nipping with his sharp teeth.
The hand working your other nipple started to wander, as he continued working you with his mouth. Tracing his claws softly down your stomach, before reaching your bottoms. They were light and stretchy enough that you knew he could slide his hand easily down between your legs.
However, he kept teasing your skin just above the waistband. It felt like butterfly kisses, the way Darkness would barely ghost his claws over your skin.
It made you quake inside with anticipation of what he would do next, even though a good portion of your focus was still on him licking and sucking your breast. You were close to begging him to do anything to sate your now aching arousal, desiring to be filled with all he desired to give you.
Slowly he finally began to slip his fingers under the waistband of your bottoms. Instead of dipping lower, he started to pull on your pants, sliding them down. Darkness pulled back from teasing your nipple in order to focus on getting your pants off.
They slipped off easily, making you feel even more exposed than when he'd removed your tunic. All that separated your wetness from the air, was the thin material of your panties.
Slowly, he lowered himself, kissing the center of your chest. Moving downward to your stomach. His hands lightly traced the inside of your thighs, trailing a road leading closer and closer to the last bit of clothing on you.
As Darkness made his way down with his mouth, his fingers finally reached your panties. One of his clawed fingers traced a rhythm on your inner thighs, as he used his clawed forefinger to trace the band of your panties. Quickly he used the sharpness to snap the band, before quickly tearing away the flimsy fabric.
Large rough fingers traced your lips, actively avoiding you clit. Teasing you, he experimentally traced your opening, coating the tips of his thick fingers in your juices.
Whining, you tried shifting your hips, trying to get his fingers to rub against your swollen aroused clit. However, he was tactfully able to evade your attempts. Using his free hand, Darkness pressed down on your stomach to push you down, chuckling.
"Patience. Good things will come at their own time," like honey, his voice poured over you, sweet and smooth. He wanted to make you suffer and to writhe under his control, that much was clear.
From the satisfied little grins he would make whenever his touches made you gasp or groan, to his careful movements across your body. He'd avoid certain spots, leaving them until last, drawing out the anticipation of pleasure.
Coating his fingers in your juices thoroughly enough, Darkness seemed to finally be ready to give you just what you wanted. Trailing his thumb up, he lightly ran it over your sensitive nub.
The sudden sensation made you flinch slightly from the sudden contact before letting out a small whimper. Being teased for so long by him, had made you so aroused you thought you might be brought to release if he touched you again.
He was patient, letting you adjust and taking his time before touching your clit again. Darkness was light and soft, starting in a circular motion, keeping you close, but not quite close to the edge of release.
As he set a comfortable pace, which had you biting your lips and gasping lightly, he inserted his forefinger slowly into you. His hands were large, and so were his fingers. Stretching your walls, Darkness was careful with moving inside you. Even though he had quite sharp clawed nails, he was gentle. You could feel the length, the notch of his knuckle as he adjusted to your tightness.
Working his thumb, building up a steady rhythm. You could feel yourself slowly coming undone, with the intense sensation of him rubbing your clit with that now pleasurable burning feather-light touch. This was coupled with him working his finger inside you, causing that coiling tension to get tighter and tighter every time he hit that one spot.
It felt so wrong but so good. Knowing that he was so big, his presence so dominating. Looking up you met his gaze, piercing and focused on your every subtle expression. Written on his face, you could see the pleasure he was taking in seeing you lose yourself to his ministrations.
Noticing your gaze meeting his he gave you a knowing smile. He could tell how close you were. That you were about to reach your peak. Just him fixing his enticing bright yellow gaze, with all its illicit unsaid implications was enough to bring you right to the edge.
As if he knew the tension built up had reached it's height, Darkness withdrew his hands from you. The sudden absence of the sensations drawing you to your climax, made you groan in a shameful combination of annoyance and desire.
Darkness chuckled, looking over your body, tracing every curve and flushed bit of vulnerable flesh. He then let out another deep chuckle.
"You're really desperate for me. I can see in your face, your body." Reaching out one of his hands, he lightly traced your cheek, slowly. You wanted desperately to lean into his touch, but you felt heavy with the built up pleasure.
His finger inched its way to your lips, moving over them lightly, before slipping between. You let him, sucking at it lightly, tasting your own juices. Locking eyes once again with him, you watched how heavy his breath became, the smile from something mischievous to a look of pure unbridled lust.
The sound of cloth shifting, you looked down in time to see Darkness, undoing his robe with his other hand. A thrill ran up your spine as you saw the outline of his cock against the fabric as he fought with the fabric.
When it finally dropped to the ground, you saw what was in store for you. His dick was big, going from a lighter shade at the base to a little darker near the tip. Some precum leaked coating the top and running dribbling a little down the ways of his length.
Removing his finger from her mouth Darkness brought his hand to hold her hip, as he used his other lined up his cock with your entrance. He rubbed his cockhead, against you, adding again some stimulation to your body once again.
Coating himself in your fluids, mixing with his own, rubbing them over his length. His teasing was almost unbearable, feeling the slight throbbing of desire in your core to be filled.
He must have known what you desired, as he stilled his movements momentarily before pressing his tip to your wet aching opening, sliding slowly in.
Using his hand he had used to tease you, he rested it again the surface of the table to gain balance as he pressed further into you. With every inch you felt filled. It was painful, yet you didn't want it to end.
The sensation of every throb and vein sent a twinge of pleasure through you. Leaning down, Darkness brough his face close to yours, allowing both of your heavy breaths to intermingle.
Letting out a low almost primal growl, the large devilish man bottomed out. Never before had you felt so utterly stretched. Darkness had stilled in order to let you get used to his size, and while it was painful, it was less so then you expected.
Knowing you should feel ashamed, or at least disgusted by what was transpiring had fallen to the back of your mind, all you wanted was for this man, this beast, to fuck you. However, Darkness had other plans, staying still as stone inside of you.
Desperation started to set in and you tried moving in order to create some delicious friction. Instead, being stopped by Darkness hand on your hip tightening, holding you still.
Letting out a frustrated noise, only served to make the man laugh softly and lean in so his mouth met the shell of your ear. "Are you comfortable?" His voice was almost mocking, smug.
You just wanted him to move at this point. Being filled like this was making you so aroused in the most frustrating way.
"Please." In response to this desperate plea, Darkness leaned in further, pressing down on you, lightly nipping the sensitive skin of your neck playfully. Before he finally gave you what you wanted so badly.
Inch by excruciating inch, he pulled himself back until he was nearly fully out of you. The emptiness was only momentary though, before burying himself back into you setting a brutal pace.
Darkness was merciless with his thrusts. At first it was painful, but that was slowly being replaced by the building tension in your core.
The way he gripped you tight, claws digging into your skin, sure to leave marks and his mouth finding your throat only served to heighten your desire.
All the shame and fear had been washed away and replaced with passion brought on through flesh meeting flesh. The lewd sounds which your bodies made as they met serving as a symphony for your conflicting emotions finally being forgotten.
Now all that was on your mind was having this beast of a man ravage you forever, to have this sensation of such pleasure brought on through every roll of his hips causing him to hit that sensitive spot within you.
If you'd known being seduced would include feeling like this, so utterly free. Only letting your mind focus on the sensations of Darkness cock pounding into you, his teeth skimming the skin of your neck, it was all becoming to much.
A pleasurable burning sensation had started to build again, announcing your climax was imminent. Moaning and wrapping your legs around Darkness waist, you tried to match the thrust of his hips.
You could tell he was getting close himself, as his pace picked up, the table creaking slightly as he pounded you into it brutally. There would be bruises to go along with the claw-marks on your hips.
His frantic movement kept pressing girth right into the perfect spot to bring you right to the peak. This time you were going to get to fall of the edge.
You cried out as Darkness allowed his teeth to sink into your neck, bringing pain once again to the overwhelming pleasure sending you over the edge. It felt like a damn breaking as you came, clenching around his length, body twitching.
Darkness pulled his face back from your neck to admire your body as you came, still fucking you through your orgasm. His eyes filled with predatory lust focused onto yours. Bringing one hand to your throat, he squeezed lightly bringing his lips crashing down onto yours.
Pumping himself still at a fast animalistic pace, growling into your mouth. Then he thrust as deeply as he could into you before releasing himself inside your walls.
You could feel the hot spurts of fluid deep in you, painting your insides. So much of it.
Pulling away his face from your own, he looked once again into your eyes. "I suppose we should negotiate your brothers return to your village. You I might find harder to let go of."

RUINED
As Frisk began to follow behind the seemingly kind beast, they couldn’t help but fidget with each of their fingers. They were following from a healthy distance, but couldn’t help but feeling guilty for it. They hoped Flowey was wrong about her, and that this place and its inhabitants weren’t that bad. Rather than malicious, Toriel seemed almost skittish at heart, unsure with a waver in her voice. Something had happened to her to make her this way, and Frisk was determined to find out what. They believed anyone could be helped with enough care and patience.
“Frisk!” Flowey whispered, drawing their attention back to the grumpy flower in their pocket. “N-Not that I care or anything stupid like that b-but….” He blushed a bit, looking around as if to check no one would see this moment of weakness. “You’re… bleeding on your leg.” He huffed out. Frisk hadn’t noticed, not even feeling the stinging of the cut on their leg. It was about 6 inches long, and relatively deep. They must have been pumping with adrenaline for so long that the pain hadn’t set in.
Tumblr media
“O-Oh-“ They looked at their thigh, biting their cheek. “Shoot, I hadn’t noticed… I’ll be alright, Flowey.” Frisk smiled warmly, patting the flower’s petals gently, even as he growled at the gesture. “I’m sure Toriel will have a bandage of some kind.”
“I told you- you can’t trust her. Don’t get too comfortable with her or start asking for favors. She’ll use it against you, no doubt.” Muttered Flowey, shifting in their pocket. Frisk frowned, looking back down at the stone under their feet.
“… I think I’ll make my own judgment about that.” Said Frisk, their face hardening as they sped up just a bit to follow Toriel. As they caught up, against Flowey's quiet protests, they gently grabbed Toriel’s paw, holding on to the matriarchal figure. This clearly caught the monster off guard, making her turn back to Frisk. After a moment of ogling at them with a smile, she just nodded and turned back, continuing their journey.
“My child, there are several dangerous monsters and puzzles down here, which you may have to conquer on your own. But do not fear, I will teach you how to be self sufficient with this puzzle, which has a specific path to avoid it’s spikes.” Frisk looked ahead, seeing the puzzle in question, making them gulp thickly. It was rows upon rows of spikes the size of their own body, rusted from time and use. It was a tetanus shot waiting to happen, or worse, being impaled if they stepped wrong. Toriel noticed their fear and chuckled, “Do not be afraid, dear. I will lead you thro-“ Interrupting Toriel was a loud,
”RIBBIT.” Both Frisk and Toriel turned around seeing a black and red frog-looking creature. Frisk smiled upon seeing it, thinking that so far, other than being enlarged and red, it was the most familiar beast they’d encountered thus-far. Despite this though, they felt Flowey quivering in their pocket.
“Oh-! It’s adorable-!” Frisk started, before being blinded by a bright, hot light quickly passing by them, hitting the frog with the force of a thousand suns. Within only a moments time, the creature was engulfed in a flaming red fire. The frog screamed and writhed in pain, rolling around to try and put itself out. “NO-!” Frisk immediately moved to help it, but was stopped when Toriel grabbed their wrist. When looking back at her, Toriel’s face was stone hard, watching the poor creature burn. Despite showing little emotion in her face, Frisk could swear they saw a hint of glee upon seeing her own work. Frisk’s eyes immediately glossed over, tears threatening to start rolling down as they watched the brutal scene. They couldn’t believe it, how quickly and carelessly Toriel had taken a life. “Wh-… why-“ Frisk started to say.
Tumblr media
”They were merely a threat, my child, willing to harm or kill you for your soul.” Toriel stated emotionlessly. Frisk started to object, tears in their eyes, but quickly felt a tight squeeze on two of their fingers. Looking down, they noticed Flowey using a small vine to squeeze them, shaking his head.
“Don’t.” He whispered, his own eyes filled with tears. He’d seen this countless times before, he knew the outcome of rejecting Toriel’s ideology. Despite how cocky he’d been earlier, now all he showed was fear. Frisk hesitated, but slightly nodded, squeezing their eyes shut and sniffling.
“Oh my child, do not worry, I will not let anything cause you harm…” She said, kneeling down to Frisk’s level, wiping their cheeks of tears. “Come now. Come with your mother to safety.” Mother. Only 20 minutes with her and she’d already given herself such an important title, despite harming others on instinct. Frisk wasn’t even mad, they were worried. They worried more about how she came to be so hostile to others, to believe everyone was so cruel. They stammered, but despite their own fear, suddenly hugged Toriel tightly, hoping to provide comfort for both of them. “Oh-!” Said Toriel, but quickly melting into the hug. “Come now, little one, we must tread on.” She said, patting Frisk’s head. Frisk sniffled, just nodding and holding her hand as the monster led them through the path.
Along the ruins, they ran into several other monsters, all of which Toriel murdered in cold blood, each kill more emotionless than the last. While humming down a long corridor, as if not covered in the dust of monsters who stood in her way, she suddenly noticed the gnash on Frisk’s leg.
“Oh my child you-“ She suddenly growled. “What wretched beast did this to you, child?” She hissed out. Frisk immediately started shaking their head.
“N-No one, no one hurt me-“ How could they anyway, Toriel had murdered anyone that came close. No one even stood a chance, even if they did try to attack, which a few did. But despite this, Toriel didn’t seem convinced, her gaze hard and judgmental. “I s-swear. It was from the fall…” Frisk said truthfully. Toriel paused before her expression softened, her body relaxing and the burn in her eyes fading.
“Ah, well, in that case.” She said, looking forward, “I must leave you for bit and fetch you a bandage. I hate to ask this of you, but will you be alright on your own for bit without me?” She said, her voice kind as ever. Frisk nodded nervously and forced a smile. “Good. Now be a good child and stay here. To contact me, I will give you a cell phone if you need me.” She said, pulling a small flip phone out and handing it to Frisk. Frisk nodded again and took it, and upon opening it noticed Toriel’s number was already programmed in. They put it in their pocket, careful to make sure it wasn’t the one Flowey was currently hidden in. Toriel leaned down and gingerly kissed their head before rubbing their shoulders and turning to leave. Frisk couldn’t help but smile at the action, feeling a flutter of hope for a better person deep down in Toriel. “I will return, stay here, little one.” She said as she left the corridor, her figure fading into the darkness ahead.
”thank GOD.” Said Flowey, finally poking his head back out of Frisk’s pocket. “Remind me when we get out of the ruins to find me a pot or something, its so stuffy in this damn place!” He said with a huff, dusting his petals off with his leaves as if they were hands. Frisk chuckled somberly,
“I’m sure we’ll find something suitable…” They said in a quieted tone. They hung their head down though, falling silent. Flowey frowned, thinking for a moment. After a considerably long silence, he spoke.
”I’m sorry.” He said quietly, making Frisk perk up. “I’m sorry that she wasn’t what you were hoping. She… wasn’t how I hoped, either when I foun….” He stopped himself. “…When I met her, either.” He said with a blush. Frisk looked down at him,
”’Found’ her…?” They said quizzically, beginning to walk down the corridor despite Toriel’s warnings, hoping she was now far enough down the path to not run into her again. Flowey was quiet, but eventually spoke again.
“… That’s a story for later, kid. I’ll tell you when you’re ready.” He simply said, and Frisk, hearing his tone, decided not to press further for now. As they walked, hiding behind a pillar or two to avoid any Whimsums or spiked Looxes, they chatted further.
”So, why do you wanna get out of here so bad?” Frisk Questioned, trying to make conversation.
”Have you SEEN this place, Frisk??? Jesus it’s a hell hole down here, filled to the brim with dust ands despair… And I’ve been around Toriel too long, and she despises me… It’s constant danger every night when she comes to that hole in the mountain.” He muttered.
”She goes there every night…?” Frisk said, slowly pushing a rock on the path to a stepping stone to complete a puzzle that blocked their way.
Tumblr media
”Every night. Convinced she hears another human fall… Says she can hear them screaming. She lost her mind long ago.” He said with a soft sigh, hanging his head low. To change the subject, realizing that this weighed heavy on Flowey, Frisk decided to ask something different.
”So then.. what’s beyond the Ruins? Have you ever seen it? It sounds like you’ve been stuck here for a long time.”
”Oh, well, I used to be able to slip in and out a lot easier, before Toriel tightened the bolts on the ways to get out of here. Snowdin is right outside the gate, a huge forest that’ll freeze you quicker than you can say ‘spaghetti’.” He mumbled, “But, I’ve got a few allies down there that might be able to help us get through the Underground.”
”Allies, or friends?” Frisk said with a sly smile. But instead of a heart warming response, Flowey scoffed,
“I told you, you don’t make friends down here. You get enemies and you get an occasional ally.” Flowey hissed.
“So we aren’t friends?” Frisk said with a frown. Flowey paused, looking away and puffing his cheeks.
“…. No. We aren’t. I dont make friends.” He said quietly, closing his eyes. Frisk took in the comment without a word, but would be sure to bring it up again. Flowey huffed though, and grumbling, repeated.
”I don’t make friends.”

My request: Avernus Bro Time with your Tav and Wyll
Eyyyyyy! Bro time! \o/ Thank you much for the request, anon! This got a smile out of me. :D (And a nice fluffier request to balance out the intense feels pile from the last one I got. XD )
I am ultimately planning on writing a full multichapter fic about Hector and Wyll and Karlach in Avernus, so we can consider this a preview. :D
-----
“How's she doing?” Wyll looks up worriedly as Hector walks into the House of Hope’s dining room.
Hector quickly shakes his head with a reassuring smile. “She'll be all right,” he says.
His voice is weary and only a little shaky - a far cry from the panic with which he entered the House a few hours earlier, dragging Karlach’s unconscious body with him. “She lost a lot of blood but she’s resting now. Hope gave her a few healing spells. Said she’d look after her.” He grins crookedly and sits down heavily across from Wyll. “And that I should go away and calm down.”
Wyll chuckles. “In so many words, no doubt,” he says lightly, but he looks visibly relieved. “What happened? I thought you were just doing a quick patrol.”
It’s a valid question. The House of Hope has become the closest thing they have to headquarters for the little guerilla war they’re running, and for the most part it is relatively safe - at least as safe as anything is in the Hells. They never let their guard down completely, but Zariel’s forces usually don’t range this far unless they’re making a deliberate attack, so magical alarms and a quick perimeter sweep every now and again is usually sufficient. It’s when they’re out on their own sorties in Zariel’s territory that things really get dicey.
Today was unusual, though. “Karlach called them bezekiras.” Hector repeats the unfamiliar term carefully. “Hellcats. Three of them. I think they were strays of a sort; they had military harnesses, but no sign of their masters.”
Wyll grimaces. “I’ve heard tales - never seen one. Nasty beasts.”
“They got the drop on us. We took one out each, but the third caught her in the side before I could finish it.” Hector shudders. “Had me very worried for a little while there.” He inhales, holds it for a moment, his eyes half-closing, then lets it out, deliberately slowing his pulse.
“Well,” Wyll says dryly, “you certainly came in here like all of Avernus was after you. But… sounds like it’s all right now. And like you need something else to think about for a while.”
Hector tilts an eyebrow at him. “Why do I suspect you have a suggestion?”
Wyll grins. “I wasn’t expecting the afternoon to be so exciting, so I kept myself busy with a set of lockpicks down in the cellar. Come on.”
----
“I didn’t even know this was down here.” Hector squints into the dark, musty room, takes a step forward, and then sneezes as the footstep raises a cloud of brimstone-smelling dust.
“It was well-hidden,” says Wyll, looking rather pleased with himself. “Raphael’s private reserve, I suspect.”
Within the room, barely illuminated by the flickering torch Wyll is carrying, are rows upon rows of wine racks, each filled with dusty bottles wrapped in pale gold labels. Hector’s eyes flick carefully over the nearest rack, looking for any sign of a trap; judging it safe, he reaches out and picks up one of the bottles, hefting it carefully in his hand.
Wyll does the same. “Pity it's not chilled,” he says wryly.
Hector laughs. “I can't remember the last time I felt anything that was.” That was one of the first things they all got used to, living here - everything in Avernus exists on a spectrum between warm and hot. “Shall we go out on the balcony?”
They call it the balcony but really it's just a particularly large outcropping of rock on the isolated cliff where the House of Hope is perched. It's got a good view of the surrounding area and is somewhat sheltered from the most brutal of the blast-furnace winds that scald the wasteland around them, so it's become the closest thing they have to a relaxation spot. One of the first things Hector did when they arrived here was drag several of Raphael's old overstuffed chairs out there in a semicircle, and there are moments when it actually feels a little like a home.
Wyll brings out two glasses pulled from one of the cabinets inside, and they both settle down in the chairs looking out at the desolate landscape as he pours out the wine. “Here's to us,” he says lightly. “All still intact despite the Hells’ best efforts.”
He passes one of the glasses to Hector and takes a deep sip of the other. “Mm. Not bad!” he says brightly. “A little sulfuric, but what isn’t around here?”
Hector sniffs at the deep red liquid, then takes a gulp himself. It is bitter and rich and distinctly warm; he wonders vaguely if this is what his blood tasted like to Astarion. “I’m afraid I’m no connaisseur,” he says. “But not bad indeed.”
Wyll raises his eyebrows questioningly. “Didn’t you bottle wine at your monastery?” he asks. “That temple of Lathander had wine racks…”
“Ah. No.” Hector chuckles. “A few of the brothers at Silverlight brewed beer; there was a whole area of the basement set aside for it. As a young lad, I snuck in there a handful of times to sample the goods - and got very sick as a result, once, so I never went back after that.”
Wyll laughs. “Nice to know that even you had your share of youthful folly,” he says teasingly.
“There were only limited types of trouble I could get into as a boy,” Hector says, downing another mouthful of the wine. “But I doubt there is any child that doesn’t know how to find something they’re not supposed to have their hands in.”
“I expect you’re right.” Wyll swirls the wine in the bottom of his glass thoughtfully, then drains it and pours out another glass. “Father always kept a close hand on me - not so different from the monastery experience, perhaps. Nobility is its own sort of cloister, at times. To be honest, I think Father chafed at it as much as I did.”
Hector grunts. “In some ways, perhaps we’re both lucky to have been pushed outside the boundaries, then,” he says softly. “Notwithstanding all the horror we had to go through as a result, of course.” A pause. Then he laughs suddenly. “I didn’t know what to do with myself at all, those first few weeks on the road. No rules, no schedule. It was like freefall.”
Wyll smiles. “We could tell,” he says gently. “But we were all freefalling for our own reasons, so you were hardly alone in that.” He leans over and clinks his glass gently against Hector’s. “So here’s to catching each other, then and now and forever.”
