Gio shook his head slightly toward her, “Sarò dentro tra un momento”
He looked back at Abraham, an apologetic look in place, “Apologies, Abraham. Elle has reminded me that my other children will be home shortly. It seems we’ll have to pick this up later.”
Abraham followed the other man as he stood and handed him his empty glass.
“Elle,” He gave her a slight nod as she moved out of the doorway to let him through, “It is nice seeing you again.”
Abraham noted as Giovanni passed her, he let his fingers touch her elbow lightly, an unspoken thank you.
Abraham would find out the truth, one way or another.

imagine: you get your memories back after years of amnesia to find out your whole species is dead and earth doesn’t exist anymore. that the only thing left of your culture is your weird ex and his busted honda civic that barely even works that he stole from the government when he was 13. And he’s been taking members of an alien species for trips in his honda civic and they’re all like “woah it’s so cool” and you get upset because it’s NOT COOL it’s a honda civic, the turn signals don’t even work “wow it can go up hills” yeah OF COURSE IT CAN GO UP HILLS EVERY CAR COULD DO THAT. but they’ve never seen a car before so everything it does is the coolest thing ever. And your ex’s only tool is a fucking screwdriver which is somehow also cool to this dumbass alien species even though it’s a fucking screwdriver so you just look like an idiot screaming about how none of this is even cool it’s actually really shitty but your whole planet is gone so you can’t even prove it but also you’ve had a constant drumming sounding in your head since you were 10 slowly driving you insane. I would become evil too.

the revelation that claudia’s rebirth was such a twisted and horrible moment, with louis dragging her like she was a thing, a stranger who neither of them knew but he kept saying over and over “our daughter, our beautiful little daughter” to lestat, really solidified the way she was never the main character of her own story. she was always an accessory to some or the other of louis’ whims: his guilt, his loneliness, his conflict of being a killer, his rocky relationship with lestat. there was love there, love from both her fathers, but it was never enough. lestat saw her too much as a wretched mirror held up to his own self, and louis was always too steeped in his own feelings to care enough about hers. claudia’s story truly was the greatest tragedy in this tale, treated horribly by every man around her, even her fathers, relentlessly exploited and brutally ignored, always second and never first. the only one who loved her the way she deserved to be loved was madeleine, and the moment she truly had her, her happiness was torn from her. and just before she died, she got to see someone actually choose her in her entirety, not for what she can be but for who she is, and it still wasn’t enough. she still burned alive in the sunlight. the love was there, but it wasn’t enough to save her.

I think Kim's psychological problems are so compelling to me because he doesn't even realize he has them. Like, I think Kim is extremely self aware in a lot of ways, knows where his failings are and what his insecurities are and what upsets him. I don't think he thinks of himself as perfect. But he does think of himself as normal. Healthy. He's too repressed to realize he's repressed, yknow? He tells Harry he doesn't talk to himself, he writes his thoughts down, not recognizing that that is a conversation with himself. He tells Harry it's better to focus on work, don't let yourself be weighed down by petty things like emotion, push that aside, and thinks that's absolutely the healthiest and best way to deal with difficult feelings. He knows that the RCM can be corrupt and that there are officers who intentionally abuse their power but still wholeheartedly believes in the institution -- and refused to recognize any cognitive dissonance there. I think this is a man who definitely intellectualizes his own brain and emotions, and when he can't do that, he ignores them. And then he calls that normal. Kim Kitsuragi the man that you are

“Oh!--” Elle-Emelia pulled a hand to her chest, looking too startled for it to be genuine, “Abraham. I didn’t realize you were here.”
“Indeed.” Abraham said coolly. There was little chance that she didn’t know exactly where he’d been for the last two hours. Emelia’s timing was too perfect. She’d shown up as soon as he’d breached the topic he’d came for, and it left him unable to ask more questions of Giovanni, and his supposed plot to fake his wife’s death without losing her. He’d give the man credit. Faking an embarrassing and scandalous romance with a lookalike was a unique plan. But said lookalike’s sudden appearance had him narrowing his eyes in annoyance.
“Gio, amore mio.” She hummed quietly, “è ora noi siamo di sbarazzarsi di lui?”
Abraham clasped his hands quietly in his lap, keeping his face carefully neutral. He would not let the twitch in his jaw give away that his lack of understanding infuriated him.
