Twinkler adds a little glitter to her birdhouse. Her Equestria friends giggle, informing her that in fact, that is A LOT of glitter. Twinkler shrugs. She doesn’t mind, glitter is her favorite part of crafting things!

we don't talk about it enough but duck and billy's relationship in amnesty is truly a tragic one.
imagine: you rescue a mindless drone. you save his life, you give him autonomy, you give him language. you teach him trust. you protect him at your own expense. you name him billy. he knows three words in your language, and one is your name. you promise to keep him safe, and he betrays his programming to help you in return. he defies everything he was designed to do in order to aid you.
you save him from being a drone, but in doing so, you kill him. he was never supposed to be here this long. you gave him freedom at the cost of rapid decay, and now he's dying. and if he could just go back to his home planet, he would live, but he doesn't want to. because you're here. duck newton, his first friend, his savior, his guardian. you showed him that there is a better way to live - with free will, with pizza and playstations.
he's damned if he stays and damned if he goes. but you can't watch him suffer. that's not who you are. you're duck newton, local beefcake, defender of the disadvantaged. so you wait until he's engrossed in his video game - in humanity, in freedom of choice - and you strike him down out of mercy.
billy reverts to his original form: a four-armed being of light, once a drone, now a friend. he's beginning to disintegrate, but he has unfinished business here. he never finished his video game. and you give him one last gift of mercy: you lie to him. don't worry, you tell him - that character you're worried about? she's fine in the end. no, i know it seems bleak now, but she turns out okay.
you can't give him anything else, so you give him hope. it's the same thing he gave to you, all those months ago when you saved him.

one of the few moments between them where they threaten to break the act down.
he knows the answer to the first question; do you believe that? have you ever believed that? all she can do is stare at the floor, almost like she’s been caught. because she doesn’t. and he knows she doesn’t.
her role in this thing that they do is to not believe in aliens. she answered him on that first day, does she believe in the existence of extraterrestrials? she had to say no.
she can’t answer him this time, though. she stares at the floor. but he knows.
he knows the answer to the second question too, though. what do you think happened to her?
scully can stand in front of him and tell him that he’s just being emotional all she wants. tell him that it’s manipulation, that it’s impossible.
but her role in this thing is that she is the rational one, and he knows what the rational thing to think about 8 year old girls who disappear from their homes and don’t come back is.
even if it’s not this killer, even if it’s not this man, the rational thing to think is that it’s another.
so after four years of seeking and chasing and following after as he walks into the same room every day, as he wants to believe, what does she believe? what is she really saying when she says no, she doesn’t believe in the existence of extraterrestrials?
and can they keep the act up, when this is what it means?

Can we talk about The Dying Swan moment in Coda? As someone who was once a very serious ballerina, I need to talk about the Dying Swan. Here's your context --
CHAKOTAY: Harry's clarinet solo was okay. I could have done without Tuvok's reading of Vulcan poetry. But the highlight of the evening was definitely Kathryn Janeway portraying the Dying Swan. JANEWAY: I learned that dance when I was six years old. I assure you, it was the hit of the Beginning Ballet class.
Have you seen The Dying Swan? It is dramatic.
Here, take a minute:
youtube
First of all, this dance is much too advanced for a six-year-old, even if they’re doing it in demi pointe. (Six-year-olds emphatically should not be in pointe shoes btw.) The dance is almost entirely bourees and arm movements done to very subtle musical cues, not the foundational ballet moves typically taught in Beginning Ballet.
This is a very vulnerable, dramatic dance that is effective because of its subtleties. The performer would need to embody that vulnerability in some way for a convincing performance. It's short, but it's a solo piece -- all eyes on you. I mean, it was choreographed for a prima ballerina, BUT THAT'S NOT MY POINT
Can you imagine our unflappable Captain Janeway willingly getting in front of her crew to do this ballet? I get that it’s thematically relevant to the plot of Coda, but since Janeway is only vulnerable in front of her crew when it means putting herself in harm’s way, it seems like a wild decision. She tends to hold herself apart from her crew, maintaining the professional distance of the captain. Further, when she does any creative pursuit, it is almost always in private, since her sister was the artist in the family and she was the scientist. As a captain, she commands Voyager in a much different way than she would as a dancer with this piece. I'm not saying she never shows vulnerability because she definitely does, but not necessarily in this way. Then when she talks about it with Chakotay, she just casually brushes it off with a laugh like no big deal.
There’s also the question of costume – would she have gone full tutu? Done it in her Starfleet uniform? An impeccable yet flow-y white suit? She does get into costume and command a performance in Bride of Chaotica!, but Coda is still kind of early days for our captain. Arachnia aligns more with what we know about Janeway's character.
Granted, it is Chakotay laying down these complements about her dancing ability and he is clearly biased. To be fair, Neelix does too before they leave in the shuttle. If she did this dance and performed it poorly or amazingly, I feel like the crew would look at her a bit differently afterwards.
Canonically she did The Dying Swan, but I certainly have trouble picturing it happening.

okay confession time ive been reading too much of twilight-critical fanfiction and it just struck me how utterly disconnected Bella is. Like, her mother's off doing her own thing, in her own world, Charlie Swan, as much as i like his character, he feels like a non entity to me, and her friends in forks are literally loose threads brushed off. it's like her shield (or shield-adjacent) ability has been affecting her even before she was a vampire

just going to keep this au tucked into the back of my mind for the rest of the show btw. doctor who if his companions literally would not leave him alone. he keeps getting new companions and they’re just. integrated into the tardis family. bonding over how much they all love this weird pathetic spaceman who has enriched and/or ruined their lives.
#even funnier if the doctor regenerates and tentoo does not so theyre just perpetually stuck with angsty david tennant alongside whatever#doctor is flying the ship at the time#they’ll like. leave and do normal life stuff every once in a while.#the doctor internally going both ‘oh good theyre returning to their lives 🙂’ and ‘THEYRE ABANDONING ME 😭’ because he has issues#and then another companion will hijack the tardis to pick them up again because the doctor is trying to avoid it ‘for their own good’#the doctor tries to leave them all behind when they all go to donna’s wedding and is thwarted by luke smith (also invited to wedding because#donna and sarah jane are friends now and luke eventually starts living parttime on the tardis like sarah jane does (sarah jane i can see#going back home the most. but still never leaving the doctor alone lmao.) and anyway luke got overstimulated at the wedding and hid in the#tardis to calm down (sarah jane told him that was okay 🥺) and then the doctor tries to??? fucking leave everyone??? (<- having a crisis)#and twenty minutes later luke has commandeered the tardis back to the wedding and the doctor is getting an earful from both donna (‘YOU RAN#AWAY FROM MY WEDDING???? MY WEDDING????’) and sarah jane (‘YOU KIDNAPPED MY SON???’)#i got off track here talking about donnas wedding my point was that i think it would be funny if this stupid alien man’s family just keeps#growing and growing and he cant do shit about it.#sometimes the master is also there when she’s on good behavior and she makes fun of him for it soooo much. loser cant keep his humans off#his tardis.#tardis family au

Would the human pets be capable of basic tasks like washing their clothes or preparing food? I can see some pets knowing how to prepare food as like, a fun little party trick to impress others, but as a basic survival skill I don't think it's commonly taught to humans anymore. There's most likely a line drawn between pets that are helpful and reliable, and pets that are too capable, to the point where certain owners may feel threatened by their level of intelligence and independence. I wonder just how helpless the humans would be without their aliens.

The main reason I hate Toga's character more than the other LoV is mainly because Hori tried to late and to shallowly to make her sympathetic. It's gotten to the point that the things that we are told make her sympathetic are vague at best and how she reacts is to brainless to make sense.
The main thing I see people say about Toga and her character is that she just wants to be accepted for who she is. She's freaking out now because she didn't want to destroy the world she just wanted an easier life. Yet if she wants to live she has to pick a side and only the villains would accept her.
The problem is that we never actually see Toga rejected due to her Quirk except by her parents, who seem less upset by her Quirk and more for her exceptionally high drive to obtain blood. They don't say her Quirk is gross, instead they tell her to stop killing birds and smiling about about it. It's less about her having a blood Quirk and more about her actions.
The same can be said for everyone else. Hori doesn't tell us one way of another if the kids at school knew about Toga's Quirk or not, but given Quirks are registered, kids like to brag, and being Quirkless is just as ostracizing it seems likely they did. But even if they didn't, they didn't turn on Toga because of her Quirk, they were instead rightfully freaked out that she attacked another kid out of nowhere, jammed a straw in his neck and blushed like she was getting off to it before fleeing.
Ochako, Izuku, and Tsyu don't comment on her Quirk being gross. The Heroes don't either (to my memory). Instead they react to Toga's actions, the things she herself does of her own volition. Ochako doesn't reject Toga because she's just to brainwashed to understand Toga might be sad but instead because Toga lures her away from saving civilians that are in-part in danger and dying because of Toga's choices, by killing a old woman. Than instead of telling Ochako about Jin's death or even acting any different than she always does, she tackles her with a knife, trying to kill her with a smile.
Ochako never says she hates Toga because of her Quirk, or that she was always going to be a villains because of it. Instead Ochako just tells her that if the way Toga wants to live is to threaten people than she has to be willing to accept the consequences of those actions.
The thing is, if Toga's goal was always to live an easier life, what does that even mean? Considering how badly she takes reasonable rejection, it really feels like her ideal world would be one where she could suck the blood of anyone she saw as cute and they'd have no right to tell her no.
When Shigaraki said he wouldn't destroy what was precious to her did she think that he'd gift her Izuku and Ochako to keep as forced blood bags for her to use whenever she wanted? Or did she just think that if Shigaraki beat the Heroes her crushes would fall at her feet and beg her to suck their blood?
Why is Toga freaking out now? Because she doesn't like AfO? Did she not understand when Shigaraki leveled the first city, that he meant what he said about destroying everything? Did she truly not think the Heroes would fight against them, meaning they'd all have to die for them to get an 'easy' life?
Again, she was never rejected for zero reason. She legitimately hunted people like they were animals and because of Hori coding her desire for blood as sexual she comes across as kind of an incel, who thinks people should just be forced to give her what she wants. Her freaking out now feels less "she didn't really want to hurt anyone" and more "she definitely wants to hurt people, but not this many people" or even "local girl to stupid to realize that 'kill all humans party' actually wanted to kill all humans".
